Something i noticed while looking back at old jshk art after reading chapter 78. JSHK CH. 78 SPOILERS AHEAD UNDER THE CUT
To start out, remember how tsukasa (The one we now know to be the real tsukasa yugi.) asked kou if they could hold hands?
Its a very cute little moment that helps portray how innocent and open he is! And in chapter 78 we see him and Amane holding hands.
Now, bare with me here. Because this is where it gets interesting. So I was looking back at some old official art I had saved on my phone. And I realized something that I never really paid attention to before.
Now keep in mind that, all this art is with a DIFFERENT tsukasa from the one I was just talking about!
Notice anything strange here now? No? well let me zoom in a bit for you.
Notice how Amane is always the one who is seeking out the hand holding here. And notice how in NONE of these pictures this Other Tsukasa never reciprocates the hand holding. Now im sure youre probably wondering,
"But blue, maybe the other tsukasa was like that too and hes just incredibly touch starved and is seeking out comfort with kou."
WELL WOULD YOU LOOKY HERE!
TSUKASA IS RECIPROCATING THE HAND HOLDING!
Tldr; The real Tsukasa is a very loving and compassionate person who seeks out connection. The OTHER tsukasa, as I'm sure we already know, and are aware of, IS NOT.
This attention to detail is not only INSANE, but REALLY REALLY shows just how far ahead all of this has been planned and carefully considered!!! Its mind blowing!! Aidairo never ceases to amaze me with their storytelling and I AM. SO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER.
Was trying to get my first chapter 78 Colouring out ASAP since I was already well behind since raws came out on the 17th. Wanted to finish it yesturday but sadly, I couldn’t not! Here it is, bright in the morning though :)
The latest chapters got me thinking... I love HanaNene with all my heart but how will they ever be together?
I wish Hanako could come back to life but not only that sounds absurd but it also sounds unfair to Mitsuba. They are both supernaturals who died at young age, they both didn't deserve it. If Hanako came back Mitsuba should too, and that sounds even more impossible. The only thing possible for what we have already read would be a life exchange but we saw how it went with Nene and Aoi. It's not something acceptable.
On the other hand, having Nene die and become a supernatural, as much as I would love to see them together, doesn't sound right too.
"Die and become a supernatural with me" that's exactly what the fake Mitsuba said to Kou in ch.77 but it doesn't feel like the right choice at all. The whole point that Kou makes in that chapter is that when people die (like his mother) you can only accept it and go on.
You can't go back, it wouldn't be right. Death is unfair but having one person die for another that you love is even worse.
But if these two options are the only one we have to see Hanako and Nene together as a couple... Is there no other ending than Nene going on with her life with living people?
I really like the topics of this manga. It's not just supernatural being/human, it's literally ghost/human. It talks a lot about the unfairness of death and the regrets of those who died and those who live. I really hope the mangaka can find a satysfing solution.
So if Tsukasa can't leave the red house, was that why Amane was so surprised when he saw Tsukasa on the rooftop (reference to when Hanako and Nene were eating donuts together and then Tsukasa showed up).
And is the Tsukasa we see now a "fake" version? Because it seems like Tsukasa died for Amane to save him from disease. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but did he sell his soul or something? Hmm...
And that still doesn't explain why Amane says that he killed his brother/Tsukasa either, and it also doesn't explain how Amane died. Maybe Tsukasa was going to disappear forever, but Amane died in order so that they could stay together in the afterlife? Or maybe Tsukasa being a sacrifice only saved Amane from his illness temporarily.
And we still don't know who was hurting Amane in his later years either; maybe it's somehow tied to the red house as well?
Also, maybe in episode 6 of the anime when Amane said that he's "not going anywhere" is related in some way to helping Tsukasa, or just because he didn't want to go anywhere without his brother.
All done! I had so much trouble finding the right colors that I wanted to use. I couldn’t decide which was better: filter or no filter, so here’s both. There’s also one with a slightly different color scheme that’s available to see on my pixiv and artstation.
I also gave up on trying to get that watercolor look that the official art always has (I love it but cannot seem to do it).
Thank you so much to everyone who liked/reblogged the WIP; also thank you to those who like/reblog the finished piece!
EDIT: *sees the official color version of the bear* ....damn it....
