Wenclair Fic idea - Enid SInclair VS The Addams Family Curse
Or more accurately, because Wednesday happened to whisper some romantic sweet nothing in Enid's ears one day she accidentally triggered the Addams curse.
A curse which compels all of Wednesday's suitors and or past paramours to engage n duels for her hand. The magic also basically makes it impossible for her to intervene and is enforced by ancestral ghosts to keep interlopers out of the duels.
The rules of said duel are set first by the challenger and then Enid can expand on them but not force retractions of prior rules, though they do need to be relatively even handed. No challenging her to a sword fight and only bringing one sword.
So the list of antagonists/villains would be:
Joel Glicker - Likely as a duelist Tyler Gaplin - Monster Mash Round 2 Sam Sedgwick - Chooses a motor cycle race Lucas Beineke - Hunting challenge in the woods Xavier Thorpe - Uses his magic painting summons Parker Needler - Witchcraft (She is fairly chill, its just obligation) Robespierre Courtney - Maybe (Also likely does not want to be here)
Not sure who if anyone would be the main villain.
I mostly just keep getting hung up on a cool dueling scene between Enid and Joel. With him having "Trained his whole life for this" while she claims sparring with Bianca is enough. Enid relies on having tossed away her jacket, and an odd defense to distract and tire him out before going on the offensive. (She cannot use her Lycan powers in this fight due to the rules.)
Said fight likely gets recorded by someone and goes viral on social media for several reasons.
Morticia and Gomez likely didn't mention this because they thought it'd not end up being a problem. Good Addams may officiate the duels and create dramatic barriers to keep outsiders away if they try to intervene.
I imagine that one theme might be Enid grappling with the fact she has a very limited experience with health relationships or love given her family so she's kinda stumbling round in the dark relationship wise.
Meanwhile Wednesday is obviously livid at the loss of agency and likely wants to go tearing off to solve things solo style.
Beyond that unsure.

Seriously though, if you have the time and energy, please go leave a positive comment on any of the articles about 7x04 (@911bts has linked them). There are some truly vile people spouting hate on a lot of them, so it could do with some positivity instead. Especially The Wrap's article has some really heinous shit in its comments.

given ashton's specific issues, it's quietly tragic that they don't have someone on team uthodurn to specifically remember them, the way orym and laudna do. fearne goes to the wildmother shrine specifically to reach out to orym, and imogen- well, thoughts of laudna run through everything imogen does. fcg is ostensibly that person, for ashton, but they've known each other for significantly less time than fearne and orym or imogen and laudna, and fcg wasn't emotionally reliant on ashton in the same way. and fcg's had his hands full with meeting frida and all the new feelings coming with that, and maybe it's an intentional reflection of the fact that, as much as they care, fcg is a little self-absorbed, and also still very bad at processing and expressing their feelings.
but when frida asks if they ever had a person like frida has deanna, they mention dancer. which is- fcg was essentially a servant to dancer, she told him what to do. ashton's place in their life is much more parallel to deanna. and i think it makes sense for fcg to mention dancer, given their own issues and belief that someone else has to give them meaning (which is something that could be very interesting to explore in their relationship with frida!!), but. ashton's definitely gonna be worried sick about fcg when we eventually get to team ???, so seeing them apparently occupy fcg's thoughts so little is sad.

Finished watching the episode! I'll have more to say tomorrow (which is already written but it needs to cool down in my drafts b4 posting) but I guess it confirmed that I still love the Crown Keepers very much and I love Aabria DMing and I've been asking for a comeback for SO LONG it still feels unreal to have them back for however long they stay 💕

I do think one of the most interesting things about Deanna and FRIDA is that they arguably, ostensibly (remains to be seen precisely) agree that the gods are not strictly necessary in broad terms. They seemingly agree on a very broad philosophical point. However, they deeply disagree in terms of what this means for the pragmatic reality of living in Exandria and if this has any bearing on structuring reality going forward, including whether anything should be down to alter this relationship.
Deanna seems to be concerned with the pragmatic reality: the gods already exist, and she does not see a viable replacement for them in the equation. Her opinion of the god is really complicated (see, the vaguely negative emotionally charged language of "batteries" and her assessment of the god-cleric relationship), but despite the tension there, she does not agree that the system of reality involving the gods should be reworked—so, she disagrees with FRIDA there.
Which is interesting bc based on what they've said, they don't have too dissimilar philosophical (at least on the surface), but their opinions about how that relates to actual living, the theory vs. the actuality, is very different. Deanna clearly believes that this relationship is useful, it's why she has held on to this connection. She thinks in a concrete way that FRIDA does not seem to (i.e. FRIDA has a grand theory that one can replace the gods with mortals, but it's unclear how this works in practice).
There's also this interesting thing where FRIDA goes from "I was woken up by D" to saying it was selfish of the gods to play with people's lives without a step in between, which has weight here, but I'm not sure how to incorporate this into argumentation here about their disagreement. FRIDA seems to conceptualize Deanna's resurrection as identical to their waking, when it isn't.
And, I wonder if this is something that's coming out of like, their experience as persons, their very different length of time in lived experience. I wonder if there's just ways of thinking here: is it that FRIDA is not as good at sitting and accepting mixed feelings? I don't know. But, even as Deanna and FRIDA have overlap on the theory in terms of the broadest scope of "gods, not all that", there's a massive divergence on the pragmatics—and I think this is a very critical one as it's similar even to what we see in the Hells. Deanna is likely more similar to Ashton in the end in both views and pragmatics.

I've reached the point in my hyperfixation where I feel like I don't have a single new thought to say about it but I also can't/don't want to stop thinking about it so my brain just starts a sentence and trails off after two words.
