I hope I can explain this well. You can "misgender" me (in quotes bc I don't have a gender) if it's funny. Use whatever pronouns whatever adjectives whatever label whatever is funniest in the moment. Tell me to go piss girl or slay queen. Tell me I'm just some guy. Call me a gender vacuum or whatever the fuck just make it funny. I don't want people holding back on a killer joke because the pronouns aren't in my bio, I promise you won't upset me

Mance = Rhaegar has to be one of the funniest brain dead ASOIAF theories because like, GRRM obviously created Mance and placed him in Jon’s storyline as a father figure so he can be a parallel to Jon’s real dad, Rhaegar. Like it’s so so obvious that these two men are meant to be paralleled due to their association with the protagonist; even Mance’s child is used as a narrative tool meant to inform on Jon’s own birth. And you’d think that ASOIAF stans would recognize that and be like, “huh narrative mirrors that’s cool!” But nooooo we just had to say they’re actually the same person. So by ASOIAF fans’ definition are Jon Snow and Aemon Steelsong the same character? Did Jon actually beat Tyrion to become the time traveling fetus?

Assorted thoughts on falling in love
No one ever told me it would be terrifying.
I am very good at finding (or more often inventing) reasons why I shouldn't love him; I do this so that I can have an excuse to run from vulnerability. Mostly this just means I love him anyway, but feel deeply and anxiously conflicted about it.
I hate how undignified this feels. Turns out I have formed at least some of my identity around appearing untouchable and in control. I feel at odds with myself because I can't pretend that being around him makes me less happy than it does; I smile involuntarily when I hear his voice and I can't stop.
It is horrible to me that other people can see the kind of person I have chosen and thus perceive me in a way I can't control. This makes me want to control him, so that I can project the image I want to project. I hate this about myself; it is deeply, deeply unfair to him.
Sitting beside him is maybe the most peaceful place in the entire world.

ATLA was actually such a cultural significance for television and for people. Having two black side characters who get their own rightful and amazing character arch, a character with disability whose impairment actually works to make her one of the best and strongest earth (and metal) benders alive, a character whose plot is to show and explain the process of change and personal evolution to be better than your circumstances, to a main character who doesn’t advocate for violence and believes in the preservation of all life. Not to mention it’s specific message around friendship and the potential everyone has to be good and do good in the world.
Edit: I have been informed about my mischaracterization about Sokka and Katara. They are Inuit, not black. I apologize for this mistake; but I think that further makes my point about underrepresentation!

dearest pasta,
my friends and I were discussing trt bc one of them just started reading it (we’re big fans, love your work) and she was wondering about the little tapping rhythm that Matt and Jane do. she was expecting it to mean something in Morse code, but some research did not yield any obvious results (either SEI or STI, depending on if the one tap in the middle is long or short). I did a little more digging and made a chart of any letters that obviously fit the pattern through Morse code and ways that they could be put together. as someone who has read the entire story multiple times and is completely caught up, I’m not seeing any obvious significances, unless the Roman numbers VI (6) or VM (6000) mean anything, or you’re trying to tell us that someone has a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or a urinary tract infection (UTI). anyways, my question is: is there any deeper significance to the tapping rhythm that either hasn’t been revealed yet or that I missed? or is it just a random pattern?
I FUCKING LOVE THAT YOU WENT THROUGH THIS EFFORT HOLY SHIT! And I am just as happy to say it DOES have meaning (that fortunately isn't UTI related), and is also a very fitting pattern for Matt! In fairness, when I first added the pattern in my outline notes waaaaay way back, it was just a random one I came up with because I just knew I needed them to have a code they used with one another, although I hadn't decided what it meant yet. It was only after I did a little digging after using it for a few chapters that I found something amazing.
Third John, Chapter One, Verse Two (NABRE translation often used by the Catholic church based on my research):
"Beloved, I hope you are prospering in every respect and are in good health, just as your soul is prospering."
3.
1.
2.
In other words, Matt (who I'll confirm was the one who chose the pattern) was calling Jane beloved in his own way fairly early on, even if he didn't spend a ton of time letting himself think about it (he'd heard the verse from Lantom and the numbers stuck in his mind and he thought it was a fitting, 'are you ok?' verse and, he told himself, 'beloved' was just a coincidence), and she was unintentionally calling him beloved back (gives a whole new meaning to the kidnapping arc when she kept tapping out their signal), so the two of them were calling each other beloved every time they checked in with each other via their pattern.
He hasn't told her yet what it means. But one day... one day he will. Until then, he lets himself hear beloved, hear encouragement, hear her hopes and dreams for him every time he hears that pattern.

So there's this episode of Community where Jack Black guest stars, and his character wants to join the study group. We learn this character was there in their Spanish class the whole time, he was just in background where the camera never focused on him so we, the audience, did not notice and the Study Group was too self-involved to notice.
Anyhow, this is how I picture Daniel in the last two VC books. He's there, he's reacting to things, he's having conversations with Armand and Marius off on the sidelines, but for whatever reason Lestat is leaving that out of the books. Maybe Daniel bribed him! I don't know. But it's funny as hell to think about it happening this way.
