Kate's moment without her Zeedex was really powerful because not only did it fully establish the danger of the toymaker and the giggle but it also shows what Kate may be struggling with as a person. All the pressure from being in charge of unit is leading her to be so fractured deep down and she's really just holding on to a thread and trying not to fall apart for unit, her friends, really just the whole planet. She's got all this pressure put on her especially with her father's legacy and you can even see her trying to hide from that legacy by going by Kate Stewart in the earlier series. Also like many characters in doctor who it's hard to call her a fundamentally good person. She has her failings and her wrongdoings, but often times you can see she's trying her best to do what's right like what she says when she hugs the doctor. She's been through so much and she's just had to deal.

I'm exited to see how they handle her story next season, as she has been confirmed to be in one episode. Especially with the fact she had picked up the tooth containing the master (My theory. I mean it did look like her hand. Not confirmed though.). She's such a cool character with so much potential for deep and interesting story lines and I hope they give us more of her story and more of her struggle.

Hear me out: The next "Diary of River Song" release should be entitled "The Wives of River Song" and include the following stories:

1: River runs into Missy again in the midst of a museum heist. Shenanigans ensue and of course, Missy would be delighted to marry the Doctor’s wife - if just to annoy them.

2: River gets into a temporary pickle with UNIT in 21st Century Earth, dealing with two alternate timelines regarding a Royal Wedding. Why the only solution to it appears to be wedding Kate Stewart is anybody’s guess.

3: River reunites with Liv and Helen and they finally get to go “somewhere nice and relaxed” as promised at the end of “Companion Piece”. None of them had bargained for it being their honeymoon.

4: River finally meets the 13th Doctor! It’s about time! And the Doctor has a lot of questions as to why she is not her first wife! If only the meeting wasn't at the Library... (Bonus appearance by the Fugitive Doctor.)

Oh god, it’s March and still no chapter 42… 😭

Short version is life happened, but I’m back on track (ish) and my current goal is to get C42 out in time for MegaCon live in Birmingham in two weeks.

Debated with myself whether Osgood would possibly call Kate a 'good girl' under any circumstances and more specifically under the circumstances I threw them in - because I do believe Kate would like to be called that by her - and then settled on

"Good call" Osgood said and it sounded so close to 'good girl' that Kate's heart did a double take - even though it knew Osgood was way too sensible to call her that now of all times.
