been thinking about Kazutora and the thought of him getting obsessed with an idol, i feel like it’s a concept with so much potential

let’s say he knew them before they got scouted, things like this is exactly what he’s been working to avoid.

you’re supposed to be his solace, his heaven on earth, and here you are talking to that damned recruiter that you met on the street, who offered to buy you that stupid dessert you wanted so bad.

The dessert he couldn’t pull out his wallet fast enough to buy. as you rummaged through your school bag for the money.

damn that stalker looking ass, tall ass recruiter lady, and her fancy ass clothes, and her damned pretty ass voice that you seemed hypnotized by.

And now he’s standing off to the side in the small cafe you frequent, his eyes glossed, loosing his fucking mind. you were going to abandon him. those people out there didn’t need you like he does. don’t you know that??

it’s a mess when you make it though your audition, even if your train locally, he’s doing everything he can to break your contract or get you fired, he feels bad about it, but he would die!

he genuinely thinks you leaving him might kill him

Even if you don’t really know the rest of toman trust and believe that they know you know, and that this has strongly divided them

If they knew about you but are normal, then they are rooting for you. They want you to be happy, and for Kazutora to shut up about you. (and maybe they would enjoy seeing you as a brand ambassador, or in a junior idol picture book or photo cards. i’m sure that they’ve brought it up to him in attempts to persuade Kazutora to leave you alone)

and the other half of toman is whole heartedly devoted to ruining your chances of being an idol, trashing on you, making you late to events, making your school and work life hard, attacking your managers, leaking childhood pictures or you with the gang. straight up lying about you, just running your chances of being an idol to keep you with them

and if you somehow do debut, good luck a avoiding rumors of bullying, or dating (preferably with him)

please, don’t let me get started on if the object of his affection is already an idol when he discoverers them…

okay, i mentioned it in this ask here but a couple of people wanted me to open this conversation, so let’s do it

tw: mentions of alcohol, drinking problems and generally heavy mental health stuff

again, a disclaimer, this post is just my opinion and my thoughts based on what we see in the series. i’m not saying this is what reki intended to be canon and i’m not saying you have to agree with me.

i can’t see [kazuto or asuna] being regular heavy drinkers but i think if they’re out with friends and the mood is there they might have a drink or two

but i do think kazuto would ~drink iykwim

i said i thought kazuto would ~drink, and what i meant by that is, i think kazuto has/is vulnerable to developing a drinking problem. i don’t think he would necessarily be a heavy drinker in every social situation, nor am i saying i think he would be consistently drunk or dependent on alcohol for significantly extended periods of time. but i do think that, at times, kazuto would drink as a way to cope and we already see him struggle to decline alcohol in the series.

in volume 10, chapter 6, kirito says that it was a “considerable act of self-control” to only have two glasses of the wine leina serves. this isn’t really “evidence” (? i can’t think of a better word atm) of an issue on it’s own, but this combined with a couple of other things made me want to keep it tabbed as a minor flag.

in volume 9, chapter 5, kirito says that, despite it not being articulately strong, one long swig of the alcohol in the village is enough to make his face hot. we know that kirito has a relatively low tolerance for alcohol anyway (i don’t have the source off the top of my head, but i believe it’s mentioned in one of the lisbeth (?) scenes in lycoris), but he drinks way more than he can handle and ends up needing selka to walk him back to the church while she scolds him for drinking too much.

particularly notable, kazuto says that he drank so much because he was trying to forget his uneasiness and his general homesickness/anxieties/etc. “it took another three cups of the apple beverage for me to forget about my unease and rejoin the intoxicating dance circle.” NOTE he says another three cups, it’s safe to assume he’d only had one cup before, but we don’t know how much he actually had that night.

okay, so... why does any of this matter?

kazuto has ptsd. kazuto has severe ptsd, as well as depression and anxiety. kazuto admits to the fact he doesn’t always cope with that in healthy ways. he often shuts people out and self-isolates, self-destructs, and engages in reckless and harmful behaviour. it’s not much of a stretch to think he could, potentially, drink to cope at times.

i think, when kazuto is going through his moods when he’s shutting down, he could potentially drink as a way to distract himself and make himself forget. we see him do it in volume nine, where he drinks to forget the fact he feels upset.

say he had a bad ptsd attack irl, it’s entirely plausible to think that he would use the alcohol he can readily get (midori keeps beer at the house, at the very least, and one of his close friends own a bar) as a way to cope with it.

personally, it’s just something i believe because of kazuto’s personality, his ptsd and the way he acts. i have personal experience with this kind of thing and notice a lot of the red flags in kazuto (i could go into it more, this post is already too long and a LOT of my other thoughts on this general topic also lead into a discussion of kazuto and bipolar disorder, which is a conversation i’m happy to open as well)

Autism coding: Bro's literally got a sword and swordfighting hyperfixation where, despite playing a game that focuses around guns, he still chooses to use a sword!! We also see him completely missing Asuna's flirting at first (he tells her she could have just checked her friendlist to make sure he was alive, in response to her tracking him down to see him)

Bi coding: Dual wielding swords is literally a euphemism in Japan for bisexuality; and Kirito initially tries to hide the fact he can dual wield out of fear of how the people he's close to will view him (and once he reveals it to them and they accept it, he begins to be more open about it.) Also in the Underworld arc he becomes very close with Eugeo to the point of living with him (and sharing a bed on occasion), and there are several parallels between Eugeo and Asuna, and they're so gay for each other that despite the anime having only a toned down version of it, they're still very affectionate (Also of note is that Eugeo is the only guy in SAO canon to consistently have a 'laying in bed with Kirito' talk CG in the spinoff games) (There's more but it's spoilers and this is a shortened version)

Trans coding: Kirito is very trans coded in the light novel (which shows Kirito's thoughts in much greater detail than the anime) Aincrad arc reveals that Kirito explicitly Does Not Like his real face, and dislikes how feminine it looks (he mentions that its led to him and his cousin being mistaken for sisters) And in Phantom Bullet arc, he's visibly uncomfortable at being mistaken for a girl due to his avatar's appearance, and in response to being misgendered he briefly panics and checks to make sure his chest flat (at least in the anime adaptation) 🏳️‍⚧️"

Shirou -

"for other fans of this series, I know the more obvious representation here may be Luou, Junpei is So Good. his special interest is ballet and he has so many hangups involving how his family sees him and how other boys his age interpret him to the point that his idea of masculinity is extremely narrow and he enforces social rules on himself to mask and keep people from realizing that he loves something that Isn't Manly. he misinterprets social cues and takes things literally, like assuming that when Miyako asked him to dance with her she meant Right This Minute rather than as a pair in the studio. for some reason the point where he cuts his hair super short to prove his devotion to ballet is also sticking with me, I think maybe it's the combination of the way it's normal for boys/men in Japan to do that, yet Junpei didn't realize that kind of attitude/action didn't suit ballet at all? he wasn't aware that the context was completely different. Junpei also doesn't act or pretend very well, he's gotta put his whole entire ass into his roles, which he then proceeds to get TOO into and cause a lot of trouble, without giving too much away! he's really relatable to me as someone who's socially anxious but very skilled at masking, and seeing him become more comfortable with himself and start to show how he really feels is so inspiring to me."
