I want to clarify that I’m not giving up hope that things will work out in some capacity. I still want to believe that the little web show that could will find a place that will let it finish its story.
This show is so freakin popular, not only in the states but also in Japan, who not only dubbed the series but even made their own anime for it.
This show is so popular that it got a two movie crossover with the Justice League.
WB may not care about legacy or passion or creativity but they do care about money. And while I’m just some faceless voice on the internet I’d like to think WB are at least smart enough to see that RWBY is profitable. It can make them money.
My preference would be for them to also keep the writers, VAs, and music team the same. That would realistically be my most ideal scenario.
Will we get it? I don’t know. But I’m not about to doom and gloom a situation when there’s still a shot, you know.
“Blind optimism isn’t great, but no optimism means we’ve already lost. We need hope. We need to take risks.”

Regarding the whole black Sun thing I think your criticism is kind of bad especially when it comes to you saying find me a black Sun shipper that's blank is also really bad you shouldn't actually categorize All Blacks on shippers as bad because if you're going to go with that argument I can give you loads of evidence on my Twitter Tumblr Facebook Etc showing how god-awful Bumblebee shippers are from death threats to people calling me homophobic telling me that kill myself Etc. Bb shippers too
Let me present exhibit A
Tumblr media
Blacksun shipper harassing Kiersi Burkhart.
Exhibit B
Tumblr media
Blacksun shippers harassing Bumbleby fans
Exhibit C
Tumblr media
RWBY Rewriters hating on Bumbleby and its fans.
Exhibit C part 2
Tumblr media
I rest my case.
The blacksun shippers are a toxic community who harass RWBY Fans, CRWBY, and repeatedly speak ill of the show.
Bumbleby fans may not be perfect, may have flaws, but are ultimately far less toxic and problematic than the Blacksun shippers who take advantage of every opportunity to hate on RWBY.
Further example of the toxic blacksun community attacking CRWBY

In before somebody out there pretends to not understand what Rainbow Capitalism is and irrationally attacks you for "hating" our own community and "attacking" the "noble" Corporate Capitalists at Rooster Teeth for "bEiNg iNcLuSiVe" by selling cheap and low-quality merch of a 1. A dog, 2. a character who was based on, designed to look like, and espouse the ideology of a nazi, and 3. a character given the not-so-subtle Rowlingian name 'Rainbow Butterfly' - all three of said characters only having been involved for two seasons each and haven't been a part of the story in three-to-six seasons.
Also in before someone tells us to "Just Wait" because the "REAL merch" will get here in June - thus proving the point that this is literally just Rainbow Capitalism, Progressive-Point Mining, and Penny-Pinching, and everyone knows it
it’s so dumb because this isn’t even by queer creators. the majority of the voices behind rt’s queer merch & representation are cishet, there’s only one “queer” person in the writing team & she’s furthered so many harmful stereotypes in her other writing it’s unreal.
so many queer people in the fndm are so ready to get on their knees & accept scraps & it’s weird behaviour. other queer people who have standards & aren’t willing to accept the backhanded “representation” from cishet creators aren’t your enemy, the people depriving you of the representation you deserve & have been on record saying that you need to earn it, are. even queer people in the company can’t be trusted considering kiersi’s furthering of biphobia & nbphobia, alongside arryn basically telling queer fans they were never promised representation. all while rt as a company has queerbaited multiple queer couples on screen & in their merch.
it’s so goddamn frustrating & no, i don’t care if the dog was a “joke”, it was a shit one & has just been one more thing in a long line of rooster teeth showing they actually haven’t changed from their queerphobia. they just learned how to look progressive enough to exploit the queer community for money while not getting clapback for it.

Since my sister no longer has a tumblr, she can't make this post herself. But just now she told me that at two AM last night she looked up how much of RWBY Kiersi Burkhart actually wrote and worked on.
She wrote four episodes on her own.
She wrote fourteen episodes with a male coworker.
Out of a hundred and sixteen episodes of RWBY.
Meaning ninety eight of the episodes were written by men exclusively.
I had already thought that it was bad that it took until season seven for the supposedly feminist girl power show to include a woman in the writers room, but boy howdy! I hadn't thought she'd have so few credits during the three seasons she worked on the show! Hasn't she also quit now and it's going from MKEK to MKE? I couldn't say that for sure, but if she quit I'd say more power to her.
Honestly, what a poor showing. XD Like this is something I'd expect from a cop show that ran in the early two thousands. Like, this is something that if someone told me "You know Chuck that show starring Zachery Levi as a nerd-turned-spy only had four episodes written exclusively by a woman and then fourteen written by both a woman and a man?" I'd say "Yeah that totally tracks." But RWBY???
I'm not one of those people that's wrongly convinced myself that RWBY is some super feminist show just because it's advertised with four women protagonists and the girls aren't exclusively there for romance or to look hot. But even I'm flabbergasted, absolutely gobsmacked and befuddled and stunned to learn just how little of the show actually was written by Kiersi.

Kiersi Burkhart has confirmed that Team FNKI has indeed survived the Fall of Atlas. While it’s not a huge revelation, it’s nice to hear that Flynt and Neon survived.
Also I asked her opinion of Cinder. I find it interesting that CRWBY seems to have a pretty high opinion of Cinder compared to the fandom at large. Though I’d be surprised if they genuinely hated any characters they work on. And I don’t mean in a “I love to hate them” kind of way.

Important Update Below: In solidarity with the 2023 WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike, this liveblog is on hiatus for the strike's duration.
In the interest of not crossing picket lines, and in compliance with the Critics' Solidarity Pledge with the 2023 WGA Strike, I hereby disclose that while this liveblog is not in any way paid for promotional purposes nor monetized post-hoc, it can nonetheless be considered promotional and/or critical material for the work of American screenwriters in the employment of major Hollywood studios (namely, Warner Brothers Discovery and its subsidiaries).
As such, it behooves me to recognize that RWBY would not be possible without the hard work of its writers Miles Luna, the late Monty Oum, Kerry Shawcross, Kiersi Burkhart, and Eddy Rivas. Regardless of how one might feel about RWBY as a series and as a cultural entity, and regardless of whether or not any of these individuals belong or belonged to the WGA Writers' Union, the fact remains that their work for RWBY has touched the lives of many and they deserve to be fairly compensated for their labor and not undermined by the greed of the studio executives, whose obstinance and refusal to negotiate fairly is the reason for this strike.
Solidarity forever. Bread for all, and roses too.

kiersi burkhart (one of the RWBY writers) did an AMA on twitter and this was one of the 'gems' she dropped (in response to a question asking about FNKI's fate and what her opinion was about cinder)
FNKI are fine! Cinder learns and grows (for better or worse) and I like characters who can develop past their mistakes and get better at achieving their goals.
i don't even know where to start but. lol. lmao. roflmao.
I really wish we'd stop getting significant canonical information from interviews and livestreams. I know a lot of fans would disagree that the fate of FNKI is "significant," but the entire moral point of Volume 8 was for the team to save everyone when Ironwood was willing to cut his loses... and then the story failed to show us that the girls actually saved everyone. Putting aside the lives that were lost due to them forgetting about Cinder and being unprepared for her attack, as well as her throwaway comment about the number of people who got out which - while I don't remember the exact quote - definitely wasn't the population of two cities that size, Ironwood's army was a symbol of the corruption RWBY was trying (and imo mostly failing) to write about, as well as the complicated nature of being a huntsmen in this world. FNKI's status as beloved side characters fighting on Ironwood's behalf of their own free will directly contradicts the simplistic narrative that every soldier/ally of his is inherently the bad guy. With that contradiction on the table, their fate is the primary means by which we read the story's moral stance. Do they survive, highlighting a level of nuance to this ethical dilemma that RWBY will never engage with, or do they die, conveying the message that yes, those who support Ironwood/militarism are the Bad Guys and will be punished for that sin, regardless of whether you liked them as characters?
Leaving their fate uncertain and throwing out a casual "[they're] fine!" shows a massive disinterest in the supposed themes of the Volume. Are the viewers supposed to care about the heroes saving "everyone" or not? Because "everyone" doesn't include a big-ass army, the two allies left on Amity, and our protagonist's own uncle. We can headcanon all we want that of course the team cares about Qrow, Maria, Pietro, FNKI, even the Ace Ops, but if you're inclined to read the series through what's actually canonical, they come off looking entirely indifferent to their fates -- likewise highlighting how the story is indifferent to its own moral questions. Is it actually important to show the girls saving everyone to separate them cleanly from Ironwood? Apparently not because the fate of not just a large number of characters, but established and liked characters, is left ambiguous to the point where fans need to ask for clarification years later.
As for the Cinder comments... well, Cinder has been a lost writing cause for a while now, huh? Apparently we've already forgotten that her supposed epiphany was a sham and Cinder ended the Volume doing exactly what she's done since Volume 4: backstabbing her allies in an attempt to gain personal power. She hasn't developed past her mistakes! She very explicitly repeated them!! The fact that this time it got her what she wanted is a matter of luck. Now that Cinder is right back to where she started post-Beacon (no more Neo on her side, no more Watts, no more Emerald, no Relics for personal use, underneath Salem's thumb) we should expect her to do just as badly as she has in the past. What even are Cinder's goals? Power, sure, but the story has failed to articulate how making SALEM more powerful - you know, the immortal witch who is abusing Cinder and has control of her via a grimm arm - is helping Cinder on her personal quest to not, you know, be in the exact position she's currently in.
If there was a plan for Cinder based on what Volumes 7 and 8 gave us I'd expect a comment about how Cinder is deluding herself and, in an effort to avoid it, has unknowingly trapped herself in precisely the sort of relationship she's been looking to avoid most of her life. Local villain is so desperate not to become a victim again that she unwittingly becomes a victim to an even more powerful, sadistic abuser than the Madame. That's an interesting character! ... but RWBY has only engaged with her on the most surface level, leaving any true work to unpack Cinder's predicament to the fans. Honestly, comments like these sound too generic to be meaningful. Like they don't have anything to say about Cinder because they don't know what they're doing with her anymore, so they toss out some writing words like "development" and "goals" and "mistakes." All good characters have those things, yeah?

So, another Obsessed Anon sent more Obsessed Anon Hate my way, and I'm obligated to dunk the hell out of them, not simply because they're an anon and therefore an idiot (and also blatantly misogynistic) but it also gives me the perfect opportunity to talk about how RWBY has handled a serious, mature theme in a far more responsible and respectful manner than the kind of edgy crap that so many RWBY haters adore (namely, Madoka Magica).
Content/trigger warning for themes of trauma and suicide discussed below.
Tumblr media
So, the first thing you'll notice is that our lovely anon completely erases Kiersi Burkhart, one of the co-writers of V9E8. But really, let's just focus on the anon being a loser Madoka stan obsessed with me for criticizing the show, and how it pertains to themes of suicide.
Because Madoka Magica does in fact evoke such themes. The manner in which Sayaka's body is found (after she goes insane from her female emotions and turns into a horrible monster that Kyoko has to kill) is meant to resemble Sayaka having killed herself over the violin boy she had a crush on. Sayaka, and all of her circumstances, are things the story beats you over the head as being her fault. It's her fault she agreed to Kyubey's contract and became a magical girl. It's her fault she doesn't talk to Violin Boy. It's her fault that she refuses help and thus becomes a Witch. Sayaka is the victim of an exploitative abuser, and the story constantly victim-blames her for the trauma and effects of Kyubey.
In contrast, Ruby is someone who isn't judged by the narrative; rather, it shows how so many things have worn her down, traumatized her and left her sinking further into despair. It shows us how opening up about this is too difficult for Ruby, even as others have tried to talk to her about it, and shows that others understand and empathize with Ruby's withdrawal once they realize what's been under the surface—that someone they believed was the strongest of all of them has been hurting so deeply. The character who has been trying to make her feel as fault for her trauma? They're revealed to be a villain, with evil intentions for Ruby. This is accompanied by RWBY having shown us the trauma that Ruby's teammates and most of the main cast suffer from, the toll that events have taken on them—and has shown us them recovering from these traumas, finding better circumstances, learning to live with their disabilities. This is in stark contrast with Madoka Magica, where every other character is punished for their actions that are driven by their trauma and suffering.
But let's look at the examples our lovely jackass anon has provided.
First off, Madoka doesn't end magical-girl suffering. What she does is literally kill magical girls for having negative emotions, because the story is about how women who experience negative emotions irreversibly turn into horrible monsters that need to be removed from the world for the good of everyone. And how does she achieve this? With a glorified act of ending her own life, something that is treated as making her Better Than Other Girls due to its supposed selflessness. There is no ambiguity about it: Madoka Magica's ending is that the protagonist ends her own life to resolve the plot, and this is treated as a good and selfless thing.
But more so is the fact that not only the main character promotes such an idea, but supports her friend Sayaka in doing the same. Sayaka chooses to become a magical girl, knowing it will inevitably result in her death, solely for the sake of letting Violin Boy fulfill his dreams. After being punished in the original timeline for pursuing her own dreams, Sayaka chooses to bring about her premature death for the sake of someone else's dreams, and not only is this glorified by the narrative but Madoka herself applauds this choice. To use the anon's own words, Madoka herself effectively tells her best friend, "You go girl! Commit suicide! Hooray!"
In contrast...well, according to the anon, Ruby commits suicide after her friends and family get mad at her. Which isn't at all what happens. Ruby's depression as a result of all of her trauma, even things that aren't her fault and have never been treated as her fault, and the story never tries to blame Ruby for all of those things. Her friends aren't even particularly angry at her; Jaune even apologizes immediately after his own trauma-related outburst at her. After she runs off, they're all deeply worried about her.
And nothing about Ruby's choice is treated as a positive thing. What we're shown is a deeply traumatized girl who is actively tormented by multiple malevolent figures, who is unable to continue coping with everything she's carried on her shoulders—the burden of being herself, to the point where Ruby wishes to stop being Ruby Rose. Ruby is never blamed for her choice; not in how the narrative is framed, not by her friends, not whatsoever. Ruby is never supported in that choice, and it is not treated as a good thing for her or something she deserved via "karma" in any way whatsoever.
Unlike Madoka Magica, where the rest of the characters' suffering was treated as things they brought upon themselves through their sinfulness so Madoka could be the Saviour of these wayward women via ending her life, RWBY has been a show that has constantly empathized with those with trauma and depression, with many of them getting the help and support they need to move forward. It's that reason why RWBY's audience can be confident that Ruby's story will handle Ruby's depression, trauma, and suicidal thoughts in a respectful, responsible, and actually mature manner.
Because, after all...if Ruby was in the PMMM universe, "goddess" Madoka would kill Ruby. Not help her with her trauma whatsoever. Nope, simply remove her from living existence. For no reason other than being depressed, because PMMM's writers think women are incapable of dealing with emotion and that a depressed woman is worse than a dead woman.
(I should also point out that, given their inspiration, many Madoka Magica copycats in the edgy magical-girl "deconstruction" genre are incredibly insensitive and disrespectful regarding themes of depression, trauma, and suicide, even to the point to several such stories use the subject of suicide as a hook or tease to their target audiences.)

So, I am currently halfway through Honor Code by Kiersi Burkhart, and I must say, I did not read any reviews before selecting this book. I usually don’t. If you’re the same way, please look at this at the very least.
MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNING FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT!
I thought it would be a murder mystery of some sort, from the way the book flap framed it all.
I’m sorry if this warning spoiled anything. But it hit close to home when I realized just what I was getting into.
