I will forever stand by the fact that Brett clearly hated Landon. And that he clearly didn’t like Hope all that much either.

“Don’t make me have to go over the code again.” Maya shook her head, fastening a pin on the lapel of his jacket. One he refused to put on prior to this event. Any and everything to go against the grain, he’s a bit a nuisance. Understandably so if she had to really think deeper on what’s expected of him. It hardly matters when his entire family is of a caliber most would dream to uphold. Maya’s not someone who wants to be in their shoes. She’s someone who has been part of this family for long enough to know her role. Right now she has the ‘wonderful’ job of making sure a prince behaves. A grown man who can’t listen? Just her lucky day to deal with naturally; she stepped back, turning to grab her purse.
“The code or the strict authority passed down from out of touch leadership?” Landon’s question came with its own bite. Not so much as her as it is the entire façade. He has to appear out of courtesy or it’ll look bad. Upon a common wealth of people who put too much faith in something that doesn’t carry weight in the modern age. He’s said it before. No one likes to listen to the truth. Nor does he want to continue to pretend he wants to be here.
Banquet events, balls and commemorative affairs; he shook his head, fixing one of his cuff links as Maya acted as ‘lady in waiting.’ Something he knows his grandmother would call it despite the fact it makes no sense. Last time he looked in the mirror he wasn’t a woman. Maya is his assistant, his secretary for all intents and purposes. A title hardly befits her true role in maintaining what’s expected. She’s important enough to get a better pay grade he’s sure.
“At least I can drink. Considering this isn’t solely state and monarchy.” There are all types of figures present. Even famous people, celebrities and those are the ones he’d rather get all the media attention.
“Try to keep it minimal,” she warned him, raising an eyebrow. “The press is everywhere. And I really don’t want to explain to your uncle.”
“Funny how it falls on Ethan,” Landon dropped arms to his sides, finished fiddling with everything. Sometimes he would like to go out and not have to wear pins, medals of valor. “What? Is my father too busy with his French debutante?”
Maya’s eyes narrowed, jabbing a finger at him. “Don’t. Start.”
“Sure. The old man’s having the time of his life. Who am I to say anything?” Bitterness edged his tone. Unpleasant viewpoint but whatever gets out into the world won’t come from him. Interesting how he has to be the epitome of royal excellence with their track record for scandal. Involving his mother years before but Landon keeps his animosity in check. After all these years he knows how to play the game. Not giving her a chance to respond or lecture him, Landon walked out of the hotel room. Event catering orchestrated inside the Ritz, which he smoothly entered as the elevator pinged on the lower conference floor. His lips upturned in a smile as he received looks. One in particular he was told to make an impression with. A princess from Thailand, which begs the question why the hell he needed to go overboard with pleasantries but as they say: it’s show time.
“Your royal highness,” a man bowed his head, side stepping to keep pace. “I am to entertain you with the presence of Princess Stefani.”
“Oh? Well, I’m here to entertain myself with a drink.” His remark came as a tray passed him by, prompting him to pick up a glass of champagne. Causing a cough from the man beside him, Landon’s eyes flickered across the many faces in attendance, casually falling to a recognizable blonde.

Elliot didn't want to get out of bed. He laid there, reveling in the softness of his blanket and staring out the window at the steadily rising sun. He could hear the sound of voices and footsteps, but he didn't bother going to greet his fellow teammates. If they didn't seek him out, then it was safe to assume they didn't want to see him.
Once Elliot eventually lost sight of the sun, he entertained himself by identifying which footsteps belonged to which of his teammates. Landon's footsteps were the heaviest, which made them easy to identify. Yvonne's, on the other hand, were so light that Elliot could hardly hear them at all. Broderick's and Karine's were almost identical, which wasn't surprising. Broderick and Karine were the same age, the same height, and nearly the same weight. If it weren't for their appearances, one could assume they were twins.
Elliot eventually identified Broderick's to be slightly irregular, given his faint limp that he constantly tried to deny.
The creaking sound of Elliot's door opening interrupted his thoughts. He couldn't help the sense of fear growing in the pit of his stomach as he looked up to see who it was.
Karine smiled at him and Elliot's fear started to dissipate. "Hey, buddy. Are you feeling all right? It's not like you to stay in bed until almost noon."
Elliot whimpered in response and snuggled further under his blankets. Karine approached him and said, "May I touch your forehead?" Elliot gave a gentle nod and Karine pressed her hand against his head. "You don't feel warm," she stated. Her face dropped into that of understanding and pity. "Are you just missing Lyra?" Elliot's silence was answer enough. "I'm sorry, buddy, but she'll be back soon. She won't be gone long, I promise."
Elliot sniffed. "What if she never comes back?" He finally spoke. "What if-What if she gets hurt or-or worse?"
"She'll be fine, buddy. And in the meantime, me and the rest of the team are going to take good care of you, I promise."
Elliot shrank into himself. He didn't want to be 'taken care of.' He didn't know what that meant. Were they going to kick him out? Were they going to push him around? Were they going to use him as entertainment? Were they going to make him act like a dog again? Were they going to treat him like their slave?
Elliot whimpered and pushed himself out of bed, spilling onto the floor. He dropped into a kneeling position, his head bowed perfectly.
Karine furrowed her brows. "What are you doing?"
Elliot didn't dare lift his head. "I c-can be good," he whispered. "I won't scream or fight back, unless-unless you want me to. I'll behave. You can d-do whatever you want with me and I'll-and I'll be a good pet. I can be a good pet, I promise."
Karine stared at him for a few seconds before her eyes widened in realization. "Oh, Elliot, no!" Elliot flinched and whimpered. "That's not what I meant. No one is going to hurt you. I just meant that we're going to be here for you and make sure you eat and recover as much as possible."
Tears started trickling down Elliot's face. "I'm s-sorry, K-Karine. I shouldn't h-have accused you. I'm so s-sorry."
"Don't be sorry, buddy. I'm not mad at you. It was just a misunderstanding." Elliot didn't move from his place on the floor. The room was silent for a moment before Karine said, "Why don't we try a bath again?" Elliot glanced up at that, unable to fight the fear in his eyes. "Don't you think you'd feel better if you were clean?" Elliot shrugged, and Karine thought for a moment. "Maybe one of the boys should help you, though."
Elliot hunched his shoulders. "I-I don't want to bother them."
"Nonsense!" Karine exclaimed. "I'm their leader. It's my job to bother them. Besides, I told Lyra that we would all do our part in helping you recover." Karine jumped to her feet and held out a hand for Elliot to take. "Come on, let's go ask the boys."
Elliot hesitated, but she had ordered him to go with her, so he couldn't disobey her. It wasn't in his nature to say no. So, he took her hand and allowed himself to be pulled up from the ground and guided out of the room.
They found Landon asleep on the couch and Broderick playing a video game beside him. Broderick looked up when he noticed Elliot and Karine and gave a sweet smile. "Hi, guys," he greeted.
Elliot couldn't bring himself to smile. He hardly could anymore without hearing Christian's voice in his head saying,
"You ugly mutt. You smile too much, it's hideous. No wonder none of your friends have come for you. They're probably glad your face isn't there to give them nightmares anymore."
Elliot remembered being forced to wear a giant paper bag over his head after that conversation. He remembered crying himself to sleep at night because of how much he hated how he looked. Lyra said she liked his smile, but was she lying to him? Or maybe she was making fun of him and he didn't even notice. Was he really that ugly?
"Elliot?" A voice said, bringing him back to the present. Elliot blinked a few times to gather this bearings before his eyes met Karine's. "Is that okay?"
A spark of panic flickered in the pit of his stomach. He wasn't listening. He didn't know what she'd said. He had ignored her.
Bad pet! Bad dog! Stupid mutt!
Instead of letting her know that he hadn't been listening, he simply nodded, hoping that was the right answer.
Karine smiled and Elliot relaxed a bit. "Perfect," she said. "Then, I'll leave you guys to it." The tension in Elliot's shoulders returned when Karine walked away, leaving Elliot alone with Broderick--and a sleeping Landon.
Broderick smiled at him, but didn't dare get closer. "Hey, Elliot." Elliot was silent. He lowered his head and shifted uncomfortably on his feet. Broderick's smile faltered and he gave a nervous laugh as he scratched the back of his neck. "We-We haven't really talked much since you've been back, so...this might be a little awkward, but I don't want you to be uncomfortable."
Elliot's gaze wavered. "This is...just about the bath, right?" he asked.
Broderick nodded. "Of course. What else would it be about?"
"Nothing," Elliot answered, his cheeks turning pink.
Stupid mutt. What else would this be about? Everyone knows you're too stupid and traumatized to do anything on your own, so Lyra asked the team to help you. But it was just like Landon said. You're a fucking adult! Any normal human would be able to do this by themself, but you know what can't? A fucking dog!
Elliot deflated, his limbs feeling heavy. "You-You don't have to do this," he mumbled. "I'm not worth your time."
"What are you talking about?" Broderick said. Elliot glanced up, only to find confusion and irritation plastered on Broderick's face. "Of course, you are. We're friends, and this is what friends are for. Hell, we're practically family at this point. Just think of this as...your big brother comforting you when you're sad."
Elliot furrowed his brows. "My-My big brother?" he repeated.
Broderick nodded. "Yeah! It'll be fine, I promise. I just want to help you. I hate seeing you like this, all quiet and frightened. It's not like you." Elliot silently lowered his head.
You hear that, you dumb bitch? He hates you, just like the rest of them
That's why they haven't gotten rid of you yet. They're trying to fix you. They're trying to turn into the person you were before you were kidnapped. They like that version of you better. They don't like you anymore.
Elliot frowned. He was trying so hard. He just wanted to be part of the team again instead of a burden that the rest of them were forced to carry. He didn't know what to do. He just wanted his friends to like him again.
"Elliot?" Broderick's voice pulled Elliot out of the depths of his own mind. "Are you ready to start?"
Elliot blinked up at his friend. He could he good for Broderick. He could do as he was told. Maybe if he was good, his friends would like him again. This was his chance to prove that he could be good.
Elliot nodded. Broderick lit up and started leading Elliot into the washroom. Elliot resisted the urge to drop to his knees and crawl after him. Instead, he simply followed his friend into the washroom.
Broderick held his hand under the water as it slowly filled. Elliot watched, the tension in his shoulders loosening ever-so-slightly. If Broderick was able to touch the water for so long, then it probably wasn't a dangerous temperature. He tried to remind himself that Broderick was his friend. He wasn't going to hurt him.
Somehow, Elliot couldn't find it in him to believe that.
Broderick turned around and smiled at Elliot. "Okay. All done. Um..." Broderick examined his friend, who shrunk beneath his gaze. Broderick chuckled nervously and said, "I can-I can turn around while you get undressed, if that will...make you feel more comfortable."
Elliot blushed, but he did as he was told. Broderick turned around and Elliot slowly began to strip off his oversized clothes.
"Let me know when you're done and I can...uh, help you in," Broderick said. Elliot didn't respond. He could tell Broderick was uncomfortable with this. He could tell this wasn't how Broderick wanted to spend his time, which only worsened the shame Elliot felt.
Elliot didn't want to do it either, and as much as he wanted to tell Broderick to just forget it, he was given an order.
And it wasn't his place to disobey.
When he'd finished and neatly placed his clothes into a folded pile, he lightly tapped Broderick on the shoulder. When Broderick turned around, Elliot flinched, expecting his friend to wrestle him to the ground and force his legs apart.
Elliot stumbled backwards until he hit the door and clutched his arms to his chest. "No, no, wait, please, I-I can't...I can't do it again, please, I'm-I'm not ready."
Broderick's eyes widened. "Elliot, what's-"
Elliot burst into tears. "No, no, no, I-I..."
"Elliot, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you, I promise."
Elliot was sobbing. He used his arms to shield himself as he slid down the door and curled into a pathetic ball. "Please, S-Sir, I-I can't..."
Broderick held both of his hands up placatingly. "I'm not going to touch you, if you don't want me to. I swear, I'm just here to help you get clean. I'm not going to hurt you, sweet. I promise." Elliot glanced up and Broderick forced a smile to his face. "I'm-I'm like your big brother, remember? I would never do...that to you. I would never do anything to you, Elliot. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm so sorry."
Elliot's gaze wavered, fixing on Broderick's shoes rather than his face. "You're-You're not going to...t-touch me?"
"No, sweet." Broderick kneeled in front of Elliot, who flinched back as much as he could. "I would never touch you without your permission. I...no, all of us see you as our little brother. We wouldn't hurt you, any of us. We love you."
Elliot refused to lift his eyes from the floor. He still felt incredibly vulnerable, being completely naked while his friend was fully clothed in front of him. It felt familiar in the worst way, but Elliot wanted to trust Broderick. He wanted to believe that this wasn't some kind of cruel trick. He wanted to believe that Broderick wouldn't hurt him.
"Would you like me to help you into the bath?" Broderick questioned.
Elliot thought for several seconds. He was still so frightened, but he didn't know what else he could do. If it turned out that Broderick was lying, Elliot would simply be punished for trying to resist. It was easier to just do as he was told, so he gave a slight nod.
Broderick smiled and reached out a hand, which Elliot reluctantly took. Broderick guided the younger man to his feet and led him over to the steaming bathtub. Elliot's skin tingled where Broderick touched him, but his focus was stuck on the bathtub.
A pathetic whimper escaped his throat as they drew closer, and Broderick gently rubbed Elliot's back. The tension in Elliot's shoulders eased slightly, but not enough to allow him to relax.
Elliot clamped his eyes shut, preparing to be shoved over into boiling water and held there until he passed out.
But when Broderick helped him into the bath, the water wasn't boiling and his head wasn't being forced under. Elliot opened his eyes, still breathing erratically, as he lowered himself into the bathtub. Surprisingly, the water was soothing and helped to relax his tense muscles. Elliot unintentionally let out a sigh of relief.
"How are you feeling?" Broderick asked.
Elliot shivered. He couldn't remember the last time he'd had a warm bath. Usually, Christian would wash him every few weeks using a garden hose and some dish soap. The only time he'd been given an actual bath, it was full of ice, and he'd been left in there until his whole body had turned blue.
Tears started to trickle down Elliot's face.
Broderick's eyes widened. "What's wrong? Is it okay? Are you hurt?"
Elliot sniffled. Despite the voice of his tormentor screaming in his head, he couldn't help the smile growing across his face.
Elliot shook his head. "No, it's-it's perfect." He forced himself to meet Broderick's gaze, tears still cascading down his flushed cheeks. "Th-Thank you."
-
It's Broderick's chapter, hooray! I don't particularly like this chapter, but I don't know why. Maybe because it was a bitch to write🤷
Anyway, Broderick's chapter will continue into part 8, just because it was too long to do in one chapter. After that, it'll probably be Landon's turn.

Landon returned to Jay. He bowed over him to see if he was still sleeping.
"Good morning," he whispered.
"Morning... Can we stay in bed?"
"Sure. Or we could do some cool stuff I planned for today."
"What stuff?" Jay was intrigued.
"Well, one of them is eating my pancakes."

the road to hell, part one
@darkthingshappen and I have joined incredibly dark and twisty forces to bring you this @the-whumpers-soiree entry, featuring our delightful whumpers Alexsei Volkov (from Tay's Brother's Keeper) and Ivan Peters (from my Behavior Modification), and our brand new co-created whumpee, sweet Jesse (with a quick but special guest appearance by @quietly-by-myself's Faolan). This is part one of two--and part two gets extra spicy, so buckle up. We might be persuaded to write more if people like it.
content warnings for part one: adult language, creepy/intimate whumpers, forced drugging, manhandling, kidnapping, and the suggestion of and prelude to (but not yet explicit) noncon
part one:
Jesse smiled as he watched Landon play to the crowd.  Landon bounced back on stage for his encore and the place, as always, went nuts.  It was a big gig tonight, one of those large outdoor amphitheaters with enough space to really pack them in–and Landon always packed them in.
Jesse shook his head fondly.  This was what Landon always wanted.  To be a star.  And he was made for it.  Everyone loved him–and Jesse loved being along for the ride.  It was fun.  He had no desire to be on stage, but getting to travel had always been his dream, so being in Landon’s orbit worked well for him.
Jesse had always been Landon’s number two. Even when they were kids, and Landon was holding court on the playground, Jesse was right there with him. Everyone knew that wherever Landon was, Jesse would be too. He never minded coming second. Landon might have lapped up the attention and applause; Jesse liked watching. He liked to see things, and maybe to know he’d help make them happen. Landon was more of a doer. They balanced out well.
“Thank you, Austin!” Landon flashed the crowd a grin and shouldered his guitar. “You’ve been great! We love you, and we can’t wait to see you again soon!”
The crowd roared in response, and Landon bowed, shaking sweat from his blond curls as he came back up. The air was electric. This is what he was meant to do.
And Jesse? He was happy to be there when Landon ran back into the wings.
“That was fucking awesome, dude!” Jesse grabbed Landon’s guitar and clapped his friend on back. “As always.”
Landon shrugged, spreading his arms so that a few of the PA’s could take care of his mic and monitors. He smiled again. “Well, you know. I try.”
“You don’t have to,” Jesse said.
He shepherded Landon toward the green room, flipping through his clipboard.
“Oh, hey, this came by post for you while you were performing.  It looks fancy. Some kind of invite, I think.”  Jesse handed a thick, square envelope to Landon and went back to the agenda.  “The tour’s over the day after tomorrow.  Just the Dallas concert left to play, then it’s back home to sunny Tacoma.”
They both giggled at the thought of ‘sunny’ Tacoma, Washington, the sky only came in shades of gray.
Landon nodded, tearing into the envelope with curiosity on his face.  “Huh. Yup, it’s another party invite.  But this one looks super fancy.”  He read through it, scrutinizing the date and time.  “Damn.  I’ve already got plans that night.”  He looks at Jesse.  “Hey… the tour’s over the day after tomorrow.”
“And…? You said that already.”  Jesse thought maybe the busy tour schedule was starting to get to Landon.  “Do you need to lie down?  You feeling okay?”  He moved his hand to Landon’s still sweaty forehead.
Landon laughed and swatted him away.  “No, goofball.  You should go to this party.  You’d love it.  It’s in a city you’ve never been to.  And I know how much you love to explore new places.”
“I don’t know.” Jesse frowned. “We’ve been so busy lately with this tour, and then the potential tour in Europe?  I mean, everyone wants a piece of you. They’re not angling to have your assistant show up at their event.”
“Nope!  I’m insisting.  Consider this your reward for a job well done.  And for being my best friend for all these years.” Landon elbowed him. “Come on.  I’ll even take you shopping.  I know I don’t pay you near enough.”
“You know it’s never been about the money.”
And it hadn’t. Jesse had been just as happy when he was moving all of Landon’s equipment from shitty club to shitty club all by himself. He knew that Landon needed him, that Landon trusted him, that he was part of what kept Landon grounded.
“Still, let me treat you,” Landon insisted. “I’ll pay for everything.  Even a nice hotel room.”
Jesse cocked his head to the side and snatched the invitation from Landon, looking at the embossed calligraphy.
“I have always wanted to go to that city,” Jesse wheedled.
“Okay then!  It’s done.”
“Okay.”
Jesse smiled. This should be fun. What was wrong with a little adventure, right?
*!*!*!*!*
A month later, Jesse found himself in a painfully hip hotel lobby, nervously shifting in his new leather shoes. Landon had really gone all out; not only had he made sure Jesse was decked out in style– charcoal Prada suit, fresh shave and haircut by Landon’s personal stylist, and brand new Ferragamo wingtips–he’d even gotten Jesse from point A to point B in first class.
“I don’t have a private jet–yet,” Landon had teased.
Jesse felt a little out of place, but part of him was thrumming with excitement. This felt exclusive. The door man even had an earpiece, like he was in the fucking CIA or something.
Yeah, Landon was going places–and so, it seemed, was Jesse.
The black-suited attendant took Jesse’s invitation and raised his eyebrows.
“Oh, Mr. Shaw. I’ve heard so much about you. I know our hosts will be pleased you’ve made it.”
Jesse laughed nervously. “I’m afraid I’m Mr. Shaw’s assistant. Jesse Barrow. A little reward for a job well done. Hope that’s okay.”
“I’m sure we’ll be able to make do with you, Mr. Barrow,” said the attendant with a smile.
Something about the man’s expression unsettled Jesse’s stomach, but maybe it was just the event’s caché - this was way nicer than he was used to.
The attendant turned for a moment to the valet stand and produced a glowing blue bracelet.
“Now, this will get you everything you need. Food, drinks, you know. This is a very exclusive event, so we need to be able to verify on sight that all attendees have indeed been–invited.”
“Sure.” Jesse watched as the bracelet was fastened, tight, around his wrist. There was another twitch in his stomach. “I guess that makes sense.”
“Wonderful. Now, if you’ll just proceed to the elevator, the operator will take you to the penthouse.” The attendant smiled again, and he extended his arm to point the way. “I do hope you’ll enjoy yourself, Mr. Barrow. I have a feeling tonight will be one that you’ll never forget.”
“Uh, yeah.” Jesse went to the elevator, where another suited attendant was waiting. Jesse showed him the bracelet. “Um, penthouse, please?”
The man nodded and pressed a button, and the steel doors slipped shut. When they opened again, Jesse’s jaw nearly hit the floor.
He’d been to plenty of parties with Landon, but never one like this. Since Landon had started gaining traction, it was expected that he bring camera-ready plus-ones with him to events, so Jesse had missed out on most of the catered affairs. Not that he minded, but damn–this was nice.
“Penthouse, sir,” said the attendant.
Jesse resisted the urge to whistle. “I guess so.”
The lights were low, blue and amber, and trays of hors d’oeuvres floated around the bar and leather chairs. The room vibrated with the soft titter of conversation, and from what Jesse could tell, everyone was well-dressed and very good-looking.
Shit, Landon had really made it, hadn’t he? Jesse was grateful for the suit that Landon had bought him. He wasn’t sure he’d blend in, but at least he wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb either.
“Thanks,” Jesse said breathlessly.
He stepped out and headed straight for the bar. There was no way he could do this without a little liquid courage.
“Hi.” He nodded at the bartender. What did people drink at parties like these? ”Uh, vodka–vodka tonic, please?”
That was fancy, right? He dug into his pocket for his ID–he’d only been 21 for a few months, after all–but the bartender seemed nonplussed.
“Lime, sir?”
“Sure.”
“Right away, sir.”
Okay, Jesse could definitely get used to this.
*!*!*!*!*
Alexsei Volkov and Ivan Peters sat in a darkened corner, chatting with Finlay Iver. They watched the new arrivals as they stepped off the elevator or got drinks at the bar. Plenty of lovely toys from which to choose.  And the men had the perfect seats–no one would have really noticed them unless you already knew they were there.
Ding! The elevator door opened and let out a slight man, who inspired a wolfish grin from Finlay on sight.
“If you two talented gentlemen will excuse me, my prey has just arrived.  I can't leave my little Faolan waiting. Happy hunting.”  He raised his glass and toasted their good fortune, then walked towards the bar.
“He seemed nice.  A bit too focused for my tastes, though.  I like to hunt, not shoot for fish in a barrel,” Alexsei commented as he scanned the room for potential toys to break.
Ivan took a thoughtful sip of his Manhattan. “Well, I do think a–singular focus can provide unique opportunities to really get to know your–what did he call it?--prey.”
“Have you ever shared… prey, before?” Alexsei asked, testing the waters.
“I suppose that depends on what you mean. Do I collaborate? Not typically. But I did share my first boy’s broken pieces with the man who loved him before I ruined him. Return to sender, you might say.” Ivan smiled. “I hear the poor thing still misses me.”
“Mmmm.  Well, I have gotten tired of some of my previous conquests and let my security team have them.  That’s always fun to watch.  They always think they can sink no lower, and then being discarded drops them just that much further.  I’m usually ready to sell them by that point.”  Volkov looked at Ivan.  “Oh, I’m sorry, are you okay with the idea of selling people?”
“I suppose I might have said no a few years ago. But I work for WRU now. Are you familiar with them?”
“I've heard of the concept.  You ship people in boxes, yes?”
“Yes. Like living dolls. I’m working on reshaping WRU’s training protocol, and I must say, the idea of having something I’ve made out in the world–I quite like it. So, yes, I’m comfortable with selling people.” Ivan chuckled to himself. “Though I suppose they’re barely people at that point.”
“That is a fascinating concept,” Volkov said archly. “But–back to sharing.  What I mean is, have you ever… fucked a boy, or girl, at the same time as someone else?”
Ivan spread his legs just a bit wider. “I have not. But I can’t say that I haven’t thought about it.”
“Hmm. I am the same.  And the reason I bring it up is because tonight seems the perfect opportunity to give it a go.  Given our conversation with Finlay, I’d wager you’re about as sadistic as me, and I think we could find some new and devious ways to enjoy ourselves.  What say you?”
“No time like the present, right? What do you go for?”
“I’m up for anything, but currently, my tastes are running to young dark haired men.  You?”
“Ha! What a coincidence. Turns out we have that in common as well.” Ivan looked about. “Do you see anything we might like?”
“There are a lot of very fine choices.”  Volkov’s eyes wandered over to the bar.  He saw Finlay dragging his choice toward the back elevator that so many had already discreetly used.  “The night is early, but I think we can find someone suitable for our tastes.”
He eyed a young man that had just ordered a second drink.  Volklov had noticed him when he first came in and was surprised that, in the time he and Peters had been sitting here, no one had snapped the boy up.
“What about that dark haired lovely at the bar?  He’s got beautiful eyes.  They’d be gorgeous full of tears, don’t you agree, Ivan?”
Peters followed Volkov’s gaze, and his lips quirked into a smile. The boy was tall and lean, and sure enough, Ivan could see a pair of lovely bright green-blue eyes peeking out from beneath his dark brows. And he already looked a little bleary. Perfect.
“Oh, I certainly do. Especially when he’s looking up at you from his knees, don’t you think?”
“Presumably with his lips stretched around one of us?”
“Precisely. But if we’re sharing,” Ivan raised an eyebrow, “what would the other one be doing?”
“I would assume the other one would be buried in the other end, having a marvelous time.  We can always take turns.  It’s a long weekend.  And I don’t have to be back to my lovely boy for a bit yet.  He’s currently under the impression that he’s free.  But I’ll be reacquiring him soon.”
“Well, then you’ll need something to keep you occupied in the meantime. I think this could work quite well. Quite well.”
“Indeed.”  Volkov drained the last of his whiskey.  “Shall we?”
“Oh, yes. Let’s.”
Ivan stood and crossed the room, sidling up to the young man Volkov had pointed out; Volkov followed, flanking the boy on the other side. They were both careful not to touch him–neither wanted to spook the poor thing, not yet–but they were close enough that they could feel his heat. The boy’s glass was almost empty.
“Hello there,” Ivan cooed.
The kid looked back at him, blue-green eyes a little unfocused. He was a child, probably barely old enough to drink–and certainly not old enough to know his limits. He would do nicely.
“Hey,” said the kid.
“Having a nice time?” Ivan asked.
“Shit, yeah. This is a great party. I’ve never been to a party with free drinks that didn’t come in Solo cups, you know?”
“What are you drinking there?”
The kid looked down at the glass like he couldn’t quite remember. “Vodka tonic, I think?”
“Two whiskeys and a vodka tonic–with a twist, if you please,” Volkov said from the boy’s other side, flashing his red arm band at the bartender.
“Wait, what’s with a twist?” the kid asked, eyes bobbling as he turned to look at the big Russian on his other side.
“Oh, you don’t mind, do you?  I was just having drinks with my friend there when we decided to come over here to be closer to the bar.  You’ll like the twist: it's a splash of grenadine syrup with a cherry on the bottom.  Makes the vodka go down a bit easier.  I used to order it like that all the time when I was around your age.”
Volkov winked at the younger man.
“I mean, I guess that does sound kind of good,” the kid mumbled.
“Oh, it is,” Ivan assured him. “What’s your name, kiddo?”
The kid took his pink-tinged drink from Volkov’s hand. “Jesse.”
“And what brings you here tonight, Jesse?”
Jesse took a sip of his drink, lips puckering as the ‘twist’ washed over his tongue. Ivan and Volkov met eyes over Jesse’s dark head and smiled.
“An accident, actually,” said Jesse. He took another sip. “Hey, this isn’t so bad.”
“Be sure and drink all the way to the bottom.  Then you get to eat the cherry.  It was always my favorite part,” Volkov put in.
“Like a Shirley Temple, right?”
Ivan laughed. “Just like a Shirley Temple. But better.”
“Though I do wonder, should we have ordered a Shirley Temple for you?  You have a bit of a baby face.  Are you sure you’re old enough to even be here?” Volkov asked innocently.
“I’m 21,” Jesse said, the slightest defensive edge to his voice. “I mean, I can show you my ID if I need to. Is there, like, an age limit for this thing? I’m not even really supposed to be here, so–”
“You’re not?” Ivan let his eyes go wide in faux shock, and he slid just a bit closer, pressing Jesse between his hip and Volkov’s. “Why’s that? I thought this was an invite-only soirée.”
“My friend was the actual invitee, but he couldn’t come.  So, he sent me instead.  He’s a famous pop musician.  He gets invited to these things all the time.  He said it could be my reward for doing such a good job managing his tour.  I mean, ‘M not ‘is manger… jus… jus ‘is assistan’”  Jesse’s words started to slur and he took an unsteady look at his glass. “Fack, tha’s strong.”
“It’s only a little twist. And you haven’t even tasted the cherry, yet. Isn’t that right, Alexsei?”
“Absolutely.  Like I said, my favorite part.  I love cherries,” Volkov said with a smile.  “You’re almost there, kid.”
The kid stared at the cherry in his glass. “I am?”
“You are, sweet boy,” Ivan murmured. He tapped at the base of Jesse’s glass, and the cherry trembled. “Drink up.”
Jesse tipped the glass sloppily to his lips. “An’ then I think ‘m done.”
He drank until the liquid was gone, but the cherry was still stuck past the level of the ice.  The two older men watched with hungry eyes as Jesse stuck his tongue into the ice and moved it around, and around, and around until he was finally, messily, able to get the cherry.  He licked his lips as he turned his overly bright eyes first to Volkov, and then to Ivan.
“All done?” Volkov asked.  “You’re a bit damp.”  He picked up a bar napkin and wiped the boy's pink tinged lips for him.
“An’ sticky,” Jesse put in helpfully. He pitched heavily toward the bar, and he let Ivan brace his elbow. “Actually, I–I don’ think ‘m feelin’ so good.”
“Oh, kitten, let’s get you cleaned up and somewhere safe to rest for a bit.  I think you’ve overdone it on the vodka.  It can sneak up on you.  I’m Russian.  I would know,” Volkov sagely stated, wrapping an arm around Jesse’s middle and helping him to stand.
“I–I jus’ need the bathroom,” Jesse slurred.
“Let us help you,” Ivan said. He steered Jesse’s elbow away from the bar; the boy was snared between the two of them now.
“I’m okay.” Jesse tried to wriggle from their grasp, but he tripped over his own feet. The bartender smothered a laugh behind them. “I jus’--oh, man. Shit.”
Volkov tightened his grip, not enough to cause pain, but enough to ensure that Jesse stayed upright. They continued to the elevator.
“Your place, or mine, Dr. Peters?” Volkov glanced over the boy’s head.  “Since I’m only visiting your country, I only have a modest house. Do you have something more… accommodating for our plans?”
Jesse groaned between them. “I don’--no–I jus’ need–”
Ivan ignored him. “Funny you should ask–I’m visiting from out of town myself, and I booked a suite just downstairs. Large. Discreet.” He bent his nose to Jesse’s hair and inhaled; the boy shook his head, but his movements were becoming increasingly slow and uncoordinated. “Thick walls. If you catch my meaning.”
“Wha’?”
“Hush, kitten,” said Volkov. “That could work. But what if we want to continue our fun past this evening?  I do have a jet available should we need it.”
The boy’s breath quickened between them.
“Well,” Ivan considered as they approached the elevator, “as I may have mentioned, I am adept at shipping and handling, as it were. This sweet little thing seems like he’d fold up real nice.” Jesse made a noise that could have been a whimper. His feet dragged, and Ivan took on more of his weight. “But I’m not sure I could pass up a chance to join the mile high club…”
“No,” Jesse slurred. “No, pleas’, I don’–”
Volkov shoved his thumb in between Jesse’s slack lips, pressing the boy’s tongue down until his words flattened into a rough moan.
“It is a very fun club to be a member of.  Would you like to join me?” Volkov asked, pressing the button for the elevator with his free hand. “If so, I’ll need to make a call.”
“You have a car here? If you handle the call, I’ll make sure we get our precious cargo out of here without any issue.”
“Done.”  Volkov pulled his phone out and pressed a button.  Within seconds he was rattling off fast paced instructions in Russian.  He ended the call and turned to Ivan.  “Pilot says he’ll be ready when we arrive.”
The elevator doors opened, and Ivan brandished Jesse’s blue-banded wrist for the attendant to see. The man smiled and let them enter.
“What do you say, sweet boy? Want to go for a ride?”
Ivan dipped his head and nipped at Jesse’s throat as Volkov palmed the boy between the legs. Jesse’s blue-green eyes were hooded now, and no one waited for his answer.

Chapter 16: EpilogueBy GleefulPoppet
Prom Day Saturday, May 15th, 2038 (25 Years Later)
“Oh, babe, those were the days, were they not?” Blaine brushed his fingertips over the Prom photo from almost exactly 25 years ago. “Look how little we were.”
“We were so little. Can you believe how delusional all that was with Sebastian bursting into the Prom and thinking he could somehow reconcile with you? I haven’t thought about it for a long time.” Kurt laughed and kissed the top of Blaine’s head where he was snuggled between Kurt’s legs with his back to Kurt’s chest, holding up the scrapbook he had made so many years ago.
“Delusional is the word! Sometimes, I wonder what his life turned out to be like.”
“I hope he got his act together. He was such a pompous ass,” Kurt said.
“He really was. It’s nice to think about Landon and Dave, though. We received that announcement in the mail a few weeks ago about the two foster kids they adopted; it was adorable. Who would have thought it? They ran off and got married before we did! And Dave’s the football coach for a community college in…”
“Nebraska. They’ve won a couple of state championships, and Landon is a teacher there. Astonishing when you think about it, how what happened to me with Dave drove me to Dalton, where I met you and Alex. Then, I returned to McKinley, and you transferred. Then Dave came back. Alex came to visit and told us about Landon, and then he fell in love with Dave and helped him find his potential. And Dave helped him in return. And somewhere in there, you and I finally said, ‘I love you,’ in the more-than-friends way.” Kurt chuckled.
“We sure did. Best day of my life,” Blaine hummed as he turned to another random page. They were having fun looking at the book out of order. “Oh, my heavens! My 18th birthday!” He started laughing and shaking his head. “We were still in the thick of our fake-dating ruse.”
“I was pining for you so hard I think I had drool stains on my shirt. Look at you, so hot in that gray-and-white-striped shirt, bow tie with yellow polka dots, and your mustard yellow pants.” This time, Kurt touches the photograph. “And I just wanted to turn off that damn karaoke machine and give you the world’s most passionate kiss.”
“Oh, yeah? Well, why didn’t you?”
“Because that was impossible. You’d already given me what I thought was the world’s most passionate kiss at Rachel’s party.”
“Little did we know…”
“How amazing kissing can be? And how sex gets better the older you are?”
“Exactly. I think it’s hysterical we thought our sex life would be over after our 20s.”
Kurt whispers in Blaine’s ear, “Mmm... It’s not, is it? How many times did I have you begging for more last night? How many times did I swallow your screams in my mouth to help keep you quiet? And we just turned 43 this year, so really, I think we should plan on enjoying ourselves into our 90s, don’t you?” Kurt said as he nipped behind his husband’s ear, causing him to shiver.
“At least.” Blaine pushed back into Kurt; he could feel him getting interested. They went in waves, like this week, where they had the hottest sex ever for hours on end or even multiple times a day, which sometimes turned into maybe once a week and everywhere in between. “Don’t start, love. Please? Later. We’re going to get in trouble again.”
Kurt buried his head in Blaine’s shoulder to stifle his laughter. “We so would. I’ll be good. Next random page.”
Blaine quickly closed the book and unfurled it again. “Our college acceptance letters! Remember? My parents came over, we had Carole’s three-layer chocolate cake, and we opened all our letters together.”
“Yes! We nearly broke our parents’ eardrums when we got accepted to NYADA! We could have damaged our voices! After that, I don’t think we even cared about the other letters.”
“I loved going to college with you and living in that tiny little apartment with avocado-colored appliances and that sunshine yellow tile, constantly trying to make ends meet. You worked at the diner all those years, and I taught piano lessons, doing all we could to make our dreams come true one day at a time. And now look at us. We did okay, didn’t we?”
“We did. Living in a brownstone and working on Broadway or off-Broadway productions for the last 20 years in one capacity or another. You, my exceptional husband, have two Tony awards, a slew of other awards, and a new show opening soon with your original music. It’s been extraordinary.”
“And how many do you have, Kurt?”
“Stop. I want to gush about you, not me.”
“You have three, Kurt Hummel. Three Tony awards and you deserve every one of them. Not to mention, you were the first of the New Directions to get one.”
Kurt chuckled. “Rachel has never forgiven me, not really. Hers wasn’t far behind, though.”
“Another page?” Blaine asked.
“Yeah. I think we have time for one more before we have to get ready.” Kurt glanced over at the clock.
He flipped the pages again. “Oh, graduation day! That was marvelous.”
“Yes, it was, Mr. Valedictorian! We thought that day would never come, and then it came and went in seconds, and now we’ve been together longer than we were alive in these pictures.”
“Wow. There’s some perspective for you.”
“Do you remember what happened on graduation night? On our way to the final party at Rachel’s, you were so desperate for it, telling me all the fantasies you’d had, that we pulled over in a darkened parking lot and climbed into the back seat, and you—”
Blaine cut Kurt’s story off with his lips, tilting his head to get a more suitable angle with the way they were sitting, and opened his mouth to deepen it. He wanted to get lost in his husband’s arms for just a minute. It still made Blaine’s stomach flutter when he was fully present in the moment and felt so much gratitude that they’d made it this far, still so in love.
They heard a loud thump upstairs and then a chorus of girls laughing. “Dads! We’re coming down. You’d better not be making out again!” A teen voice carried down the stairs.
“How do they know? How do they always know?” Blaine groaned as he reluctantly pulled away from Kurt’s decadent mouth.
Kurt tipped his head back and laughed. “Would you like some more perspective? Our daughter is as old as we are in these photos, and we’ll be adding her Prom and graduation pictures to her scrapbook this month.”
“It’s gone so fast.”
When the four girls arrived at the bottom of the stairs, Blaine and Kurt gasped and jumped up from the couch. “You all look so beautiful!” they said in unison.
“You did a spectacular job with hair and makeup on each other,” Kurt said, reaching out and twirling his daughter, Audrey, to inspect her. “So perfect. All of you,” he said as he looked over their hair.
“Thank you, Dad,” they chimed. Of course, only two of them were his. All their children’s friends called them ”Dad,” and they had an incredible relationship with them. Their home was a haven for all the kids. When things in the outside world were scary and school was hard, everyone knew they were welcome at the Hummel-Anderson’s for hugs, fun, advice when asked for, singing, a quiet zone study room, food from a kitchen that was never closed, and somewhere that was always safe.
At that moment, the front door flew open. “I’m home!” Spencer yelled.
One of the girls, Sophia, squealed, “Hide me! He can’t see me yet!”
“Spencer, don’t come in here unless you want the wrath of your girlfriend. Take your tux upstairs. I’ll call you when it’s safe,” Blaine half-shouted as he headed towards the foyer to greet him.
“Thanks, Dad. That would’ve been scary.”
“I agree,” he said as he patted him on the shoulder and then headed back to Kurt.
“Hi, Papa! You going to help me?” he shouted as he bounded up the stairs two at a time.
“Yup! Tell me when you’re ready,” Kurt called back.
Sophia said, “Oh, thank heavens. You’re going to do his hair?” which made their other friend, Lana, laugh because Spencer was notorious for laying down the hair gel despite everyone’s grumbling.
“I am indeed,” Kurt replied and then chuckled. “Whatever you threatened him with convinced him.”
She nodded. “Thank you!”
“Anything for you girls. Now, do you have everything you need? Your gowns are still intact? Shoes are still in pairs? Nothing is slipping off and needs altering?”
“Yes. Thank you, Papa. You’ve checked a dozen times. We just have to put our dresses on when it gets closer. We thought we’d help with the food for Greer’s party tonight since she helped us get ready for Prom.” She poked her little sister, a freshman in high school.
“Well, that is sweet of you ladies,” Blaine said. “Papa and I already finished it all, though, so why don’t you go relax before the chaos starts and you have to get dressed in an hour?”
“You’re sure?” Audrey and Greer asked simultaneously.
Kurt smiled, a warmth spreading through his chest. It had been such a privilege to see these kids get older and how they lived—each in their own way—what he and Blaine had tried to teach them. Their family motto, which hung in several places in their home, was C.O.U.R.A.G.E. (Communication, Open-minded, Understanding, Respectful, Adventurous, Grateful, Educated). His kids were always willing to help, so he didn’t mind the insanity that was about to start.
“We’re sure. Audrey, yours and Lana’s dates and their parents and Sophia’s parents should all be here in 90 minutes. We’ll do pictures and send you off to Senior Prom. Well, Junior Prom for Spencer and Sophia. In two hours, all of Greer’s friends should arrive, and once we make sure they are all here safely for their outdoor movie night—complete with a popcorn and candy bar, a cooler full of sodas, and six extra-large pizzas being delivered, including a gluten-free and vegan option—then we’ll head out with all the Prom date parents for dinner.”
“Oh, is that all?” Audrey teased.
“Well, Dad and I can still add volunteering as chaperones at your Prom!”
“Oh, Dads! No! We talked about this. You would sing every other song or dance in a dark corner. Ewww. Public displays of affection. I love you, Papa, but no. Thank you.”
All the girls laughed and dashed upstairs.
Kurt pulled Blaine into his arms and kissed him playfully, parting with a mwwwah.
“You ready to get all dressed up for our hot date?” Blaine asked.
“I am indeed! Shall we?” Kurt offered his elbow as they headed toward their room.
Blaine beamed as he glanced at his husband. “What a wonderful, wonderful life.”

Ready For Anything - TickleTober2022 Day 11 (Endurance)
Summary: As per recommendation of Renée, Andy must undergo endurance training. Lurana is his trainer, and she has the perfect method to build up the Apex Guardian’s endurance.
Word Count: 2065
"You wanted to see me, Lady Renée?" Landon asked.
"Yes, Landon" Renée said, "I want to put your endurance to the test."
Landon looked at his superior with a quizzical look. He was asked to come to Renée's office for a small meeting, and now he knew why.
"My endurance?" Landon questioned politely.
"Yes," she said, "It has come to my attention that the endurance training isn't... intense enough, as some would put. I made an endurance test, and I appointed Lurana to oversee it. Would you be willing to test it out for me?"
Landon stared at his leader blankly. This was such an honor; the boy was left speechless. Out of all the other officers Renée could've asked, she chose him.
"I-I would be honored, Lady Renée!" Landon said, standing up and bowing deeply.
"At ease, Quartz," Renée said with a smile, "Come with me. Best not to keep Lurana waiting."
The officer nodded and followed his leader out of her office. The duo walked past many corridors before stepping into one of the many training rooms. In the center of the room, the cursed Feral stood, her blackened tail swishing back and forth. When Lurana saw her superior and subordinate walk in, she smiled.
"Welcome, you two!" she said, "So, this is the test dummy?"
"Test dummy?" Landon parroted.
"Wrong words." Renée said.
"Oops, my bad! Test subject!"
Renée sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose, suppressing her smile.
"Don't take any of what she says to heart, Landon dear," Renée said, "She's only kidding, right, Lurana?"
Renée gave the Elite a knowing look as if she were telling her to cool it with the names.
"Of course I am!" Lurana said, "Thanks for appointing me to lead the endurance training, Renée."
"My pleasure. Thank you for agreeing to do it," Renée said, "Take all the time you need. Report back to me when you've completed."
The cursed leader turned on her heel and left the training room, leaving the Apex Guardian and Elite alone.
"Alright, little buddy; let's work on your endurance!" Lurana said.
"Right!" Landon said enthusiastically, "But, what kinds of endurance? Magical? Physical?"
Lurana smiled as she snapped her fingers, a clipboard soon appearing in her hand.
"Hmm... Looks like we will be testing your physical and magical endurance and a bit of mental endurance," Lurana said, "That's a new one."
"So, which are we going to do first?" Landon asked.
The cursed Feral Elite hummed as she waved away the clipboard. The Feral glanced at Landon and scanned him. The Elite felt a sly smile appear on her face.
"Actually, I know a way we can test all three at the same time." Lurana said.
"Really? How?" Landon asked.
The cursed Feral grinned before raising a hand toward the ceiling. Then, a transparent reddish-purple sheet encased the room.
"Soundproof spell," Lurana said, "Don't want to be disturbed."
"Why would you need a soundproof spell?" Landon asked.
The cured Feral smiled before raising a hand towards Landon. The young magic-bearer took a few steps back, unsure what the Elite might do. Then, reddish-purple rings appeared on Landon's wrists. The magic rings lifted Landon in the air before slamming him against the wall behind him. The magic rings had Landon's arms raised slightly above his head.
"U-Uhm, Lady Lurana?" Landon questioned, "How is this supposed to be an endurance test?"
"You'll see," Lurana said, walking up to her subordinate, "Also, no need to address me as Lady Lurana, kid. Just call me Lurana, or Lura, if you like."
Landon shifted uncomfortably as Lurana inched closer and closer.
"Riddle me this, Landy: are you ticklish?" Lurana asked, inches away from the Guardian's ear.
Before the officer could answer, he felt nimble fingers claw at his ribs. Landon yelped before giggling uncontrollably.
"Luranahahahaa! W-What are you dohohohoihihihihihing?" Landon questioned.
"Endurance training, obviously," Lurana answered, "When someone is getting tickled, their physical and mental endurance is tested. And that's where this endurance training comes into play."
Landon tried to break loose from the magic bands, but they were too strong.
"Oh, right! We also need to test your magical endurance," Lurana thought out loud, "No worries; I have an idea for that later! For the time being, let's see how long you can withstand getting tickled by me!"
Landon rocked his body from side to side, trying to get away from Lurana's fingers. The young magic-bearer giggled most adorably, making the Feral Elite swoon.
"Oh, you are so cute when you giggle this way, Landon!" Lurana said, "You should laugh more often! It's a good look on you!"
"Lurana, plehehehease! Stohohop ihihit!" Landon giggled.
"Stop? We've only just begun! This is endurance training, so we need to see how long you can hold out. Imagine if I was a bad guy, and he uses tickling to get information out of you. You need to be able to take it so you don't crack."
Lurana then hummed in thought before smiling.
"That's a great idea!" Lurana said, glancing at Landon, "Alright, Apex Guardian. Tell me where your leader is hiding Dr. Geroji's documents,"
"What are you tahahalking abohohohout?" Landon asked, "You should knohohohow, Lurana!"
"Who is this Lurana you speak of, kid?"
Landon tugged at his wrists, but he was locked down. Landon squealed as Lurana moved to his armpits.
"Nohohoho! Plehehehease stop!" Landon giggled.
"I'll only stop when you tell me where those documents are," Lurana said.
"I don't knohohohohow! Please, let me gohohohoho!"
"Not a chance, kid. Unless you tell me where your leader's hiding those documents, you'll just have to endure this. Let's see how long it'll take before you crack."
Landon stomped his feet on the dirt ground, trying to find some way to escape the Elite's fingers.
"Why is she acting like this all of a sudden?" Landon thought.
Landon tried to pull his arms down as Lurana dug deeper into his armpits, but his attempts were in vain.
"Lurana, stohohohop! It tickles sohoho baahahahahahaaad!" Landon cried.
"I'm sure it does, little Guardian," Lurana purred, "Mark my words: it'll be ten times worse if you don't tell me what I want to know."
"I already told yohohohohohou! I don't knohohohohohow!"
Lurana grinned before looking down at her wristwatch.
"5 minutes already," Lurana thought, "This kid's good, but what if I kick it up a notch?"
Lurana moved her hands slightly and started pinching the space between Landon's armpits and top rib. Landon's giggles escalated in volume, and his squirming became more violent.
"How ya like that, Guardian?" Lurana asked, "Gettin' too much for ya?"
"Nohoho! Plehehease stohohohop!" Landon giggled.
Lurana did her best evil laugh, making the younger officer kick out his legs and giggle louder.
"That's right! Laugh for me, little Guardian!" Lurana said, "Unless you want me to make this a lot worse, I would fess up if I were you."
"I don't know anythihihihihihing!" Landon cried, "Let me gohohoho!"
Lurana shrugged with a grin.
"Fine, have it your way," Lurana said, "Remember, you asked for this."
Lurana's grin widened as her purple eye started glowing. Landon's body was cloaked with a transparent sheet of purple. With Lurana's power, she's able to spot her opponent's weak spots. Lurana looked down to see Landon's thighs and knees were his weak spots. The cursed Feral smiled before slowing her hands to stop, leaving the young officer breathless.
"Now, are you going to tell me where those documents are?" Lurana asked.
"I don't knohohow where they ahahahre, I swehehehear!" Landon giggled breathlessly.
Lurana sighed before raising a hand towards the officer. The magic bands around Landon's wrists moved downward, forcing the magic-bearer on his rear. The Elite crouched in front of her subordinate and smirked.
"Are you sure you don't know where they are?" Lurana asked.
"I-I swear, I don't!" Landon said, "We're not authorized to know that information. Only Lady Renée and the Elites know where they are. You should know this, Lurana!"
Lurana leaned in close, her nose and Landon's almost touching.
"I hope you're not getting smart with me, Guardian," Lurana said, "I don't know who you think I am, but I can assure you, I am not this Lurana character."
Landon swallowed a lump in his throat before looking away from his superior.
"Aw, what's wrong?" Lurana asked, "Can't make direct eye contact?"
When Landon didn't answer, Lurana started pinching up and down his sides, forcing giggles from the officer.
"Nohoho! Not theheheheere!" Landon giggled, scrapping his heels against the ground.
Lurana smiled as she moved her hands, squeezing the young officer's knees. Landon squealed before dissolving into adorable laughter.
"NOT THEHEHEHEHEHERE! ANYWHERE BUT THHEHEHEHERE!" Landon laughed, "S-STAHAHAHAP!"
"Ah, is this your weak spot, little Guardian?" Lurana asked, "What if I..."
Lurana then started scratching underneath Landon's knee, causing him to squeal and bring his legs up, almost crushing Lurana's nails.
"NAHAHAHAAAAA! THAT TICKLES SO BAHAHAHAHAAAAD!" Landon cackled.
"If you just tell me what I want to know, this will all be over." Lurana said.
Landon tried to free his wrists, but it was to no avail. Lurana looked down at her watch and smiled.
"Almost 10 minutes," Lurana said, "This kid is amazing. His physical endurance is good, and even his mental endurance. Now, time to bust in some magic!"
Lurana pulled away from the boy and sat back on her legs, grinning as the boy panted.
"So, ready to talk yet?" Lurana asked.
"I don't know anythihihing... I swehehear..." Landon panted.
Lurana sighed heavily and shook her head.
"Didn't want to do this to you, kid, but you leave me no choice." Lurana said, feigning regret.
The cursed Feral Elite extended a hand towards Landon's thighs, and a translucent reddish-purple sheet encased them. When Lurana snapped her fingers, Landon screamed with laughter.
"WHAT IS THAHAHAHAHAAAAA!? MAKE IT STAHAHAHAHAAAAAP!" Landon cackled.
"I told you I'd make it ten times worse," Lurana said, "Now, you're paying for it."
Landon tried kicking away the magic, but it was not letting go.
"PLEHEHEHEASE! I DON'T KNOW ANYTHIHIHIHING!" Landon laughed, "I SWEHEHEHEHAR!"
"Mhm, sure," Lurana deadpanned, "Until you're ready to talk, I'll be right here."
Lurana crossed her legs and pulled out her phone, letting the boy's laughter sink in.
"DON'T LEHEHEHEHEAVE ME LIKE THIHHIHIHIHIS! AAAAAHAHAHAHHAA!" Landon laughed.
As the magic crept closer to Landon's inner thigh, the young magic-bearer lost it.
"MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STAHAHAHAHAAAAAP!" Landon screamed, "PLEHEHEHASE!"
Lurana looked up from her phone and grinned.
"You ready to talk?" Lurana asked.
"YEHEHEHEHEHES! I'LL TELL YOHOHOHOU! PLEHEHEHEASE! LET ME GOHOHOHOHOOO!"
Lurana grinned and waved a lazy hand, causing the magic sheet on Landon's thighs to disappear. Landon's wrists were released, and he slumped against the wall, panting like a dire wolf.
"17 minutes," Lurana said, "Impressive timing, Landon. If a villain were to do this to you, you'd be good, so long they don't go for your legs."
Landon glanced at the Elite with a tired smile on his face.
"I think you did well with this endurance test," Lurana said.
"Y-You're not gonna tell Renée what you did, right?" Landon asked.
"What? No way! If she found out what I did for your endurance training, she'd have my head!"
Landon chuckled as he sat up.
"Well, I think it is a good way to test one's physical, mental, and magical endurance," he said, "It'll take some getting used to for many, but you never know what a villain might do. You've gotta be ready for anything."
Lurana blinked at the young officer before smiling.
"You're a good kid, Quartz," Lurana said, "Sorry if I went a little overboard."
Landon waved her off with a fond chuckle.
"No need to apologize," Landon said, "I needed a good laugh, so thank you, Lurana."
The cursed Feral Elite smiled as her tail swished behind her.
"Come on, kid," Lurana said, standing up, "Let's go report to Renée."
The Feral extended a hand to her tired subordinate, and Landon pulled himself up. Lurana grinned and hooked her arm around the young officer's neck.
"H-Hey, Lurana?" Landon began.
"Yeah?" she asked.
Landon bit the inside of his cheek, feeling his face heat up.
"Would... Would you be willing to test my endurance again...?" Landon asked sheepishly.
The Elite's eyes widened before they softened.
"You and I are gonna get along just fine, kid," Lurana sighed, "Just fine indeed!"

Worthless - Part 10

Why are you so fucking worthless?
Why can't you do anything right?
Is it really so hard to just be good?
Or are you just too stupid to do as you're told?
Dumb, useless dog
Elliot's head was full of fog. His arms were wrapped securely around his small, shivering body, and his eyes were stinging with salty tears. He felt pathetic and miserable.
"Elliot?" A soft, reassuring voice cut through the haze in his mind. "Elliot, sweetheart, come back to me."
Elliot hadn't realized how tightly he had been clamping his eyes shut until he slowly forced them open. His vision was blurry, but he was able to make out the shape of a person kneeling in front of him. He couldn't help the first thought that came to his mind.
Elliot whimpered. "I'm s-sorry, Master. I-I didn't mean to-to cry."
The person across from him didn't speak. As Elliot's vision cleared, he was able to recognize Karine's features. His eyes widened as he realized his mistake. "K-Karine?"
Karine smiled, but it was clearly masking sympathy. "Hey, buddy. How are you doing? Are you okay?"
Elliot looked away from her and shook his head. "I'm so sorry, K-Karine. I-I thought you were..." he broke off, unable to bring himself to finish his sentence.
"It's okay, buddy. I'm not mad."
Elliot didn't believe her, but he didn't dare try to accuse her of lying.
More tears flooded Elliot's eyes as his mind caught up to his situation. He remembered where he was and what had happened to cause his meltdown.
"Oh, Elliot," Karine said. She quickly crawled over to him and wrapped her arms around him. Elliot flinched, not expecting the oncoming attack, but once he realized what was happening, he relaxed into her embrace and buried his face in her shoulder. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart. Landon's a jerk. If I had known he was going to hurt you, I never would've sent him in here. I'm so sorry."
Elliot sobbed and shook his head. "N-No, it-it wasn't his f-fault."
Karine gently rocked him back and forth, carding her fingers through his newly-clean hair. "What do you mean?"
"He-He got angry because-because I was bad. I wasn't listening and I was running my mouth and he got angry. I made him mad. It's not his fault. Please don't be angry at him. It was my fault. Not his."
Karine stopped rocking him. He looked up at her, only to find a cold expression on her face. He suppressed a flinch and whimpered.
Karine gently shoved him off of her lap and stood to her feet. "Come with me, Elliot," she said. Her voice was completely apathetic, which frightened Elliot more than it probably should have.
"Wh-Where are we g-going?" He stammered. The second the words left his lips, he regretted them. How dare he question their leader's authority. Even if she weren't the leader, she was a human, and therefore, inherently above him.
"I'm going to punish you," she said as she opened the door.
Elliot's eyes widened. If Landon didn't even want to punish him, he certainly hadn't expected anyone else to. He gave a quiet yelp and absent-mindedly started to crawl after Karine on his hands and knees. It felt natural. It felt like he was bring good.
Good doggy
Elliot kept his head down as he crawled. It wasn't his place to see where he was going, only to follow orders. So, that's exactly what he did.
Eventually, the hard floor turned into soft carpet and Karine stopped. Elliot followed her lead and got into a kneeling position, keeping his head bowed.
Elliot clamped his eyes shut and tried to prepare for whatever was coming. Perhaps she would whip him or cane him or kick him. Perhaps she would strip him and pour freezing water over his head and then beat him for getting the carpet wet. Perhaps she would force him to choose from a variety of options. He didn't know.
However, nothing he could've thought of would've come anywhere close to what Karine did. Her shadow loomed over him and Elliot flinched as she wrapped a warm, fluffy blanket around his quivering shoulders.
Elliot was so confused. He unintentionally glanced upwards, an expression of confusion plastered on his face. Karine smiled genuinely, but Elliot shook his head. "I-I don't understand." He was too stupid for these mind games. Wasn't she supposed to be hurting him?
"Broderick told me that you said you wanted to be alone," Karine explained. Elliot nodded to show that he was listening. "So, as your punishment, you're going to spend the evening with us watching a movie."
Elliot was so confused. How was that a punishment? He didn't deserve to be wrapped in a soft blanket and cuddled while he watched a movie. He deserved to be locked up and chained and forced to scrub the whole house clean until his hands were red and raw from all the chemicals. He didn't deserve to be warm and comforted. He deserved to be pushed around and beaten and used.
Elliot shook his head, his chin beginning to tremble. "But-But I'm a bad pet. I don't deserve this."
Karine waved away his statement. "That's not for you to decide, Elliot," she said. "This is your punishment. I don't want to hear any arguments. Do you understand?"
Elliot lowered his head shamefully. "Yes, ma'am."
Karine fell backwards onto the couch as she said, "Good, now come here." She easily lifted him off the ground and positioned him comfortably beside her. Karine looked into his deep blue eyes. He looked as though he was about to cry and Karine suddenly felt extremely guilty. She brushed a strand of his hair behind his ear and said, "I'm sorry for scaring you with the punishment thing." Elliot glanced up at her. "Truth is, I'm worried about you and I hate seeing you so upset. I don't care what you think you did, Landon shouldn't have yelled at you like that. I could hear him from here. He was way out of line."
Elliot frantically shook his head, but he didn't say anything.
Karine wiped away the tears lingering on his cheeks. "You're not being punished, El. You don't deserve punishment." Elliot didn't believe her. He was bad. He knew he was bad. He needed to be punished. Karine wiped away his tears again and readjusted the blanket around his shoulders. "You're a good boy, Elliot," she said.
Elliot's eyes flew up to meet hers at the mention of those words.
A-A good boy? I'm a good boy?
Elliot's tears only seemed to fall harder with that thought. "R-Really?"
Karine smiled. "Yes, buddy. You're a good boy. You haven't done anything wrong, I promise. You're still good. You'll always be good."
Elliot burst into a heavy stream of sobs at that. He couldn't remember the last time he'd heard those words. The level of sheer relief he felt upon taking in those words was indescribable. All he wanted was to be good, and here she was telling him that he was.
"Oh, Elliot." Karine wrapped her arms around him again, rocking him back and forth as he sobbed into her shoulder. He was shaking and babbling incoherently. Snot and tears were cascading down his face and his cheeks were flushed and warm to the touch. "Trust me, buddy, you've earned this. You've been so brave these past few weeks. You deserve a chance to just relax. Let us comfort you."
Elliot sniffled as the intensity of his sobs died down. "Th-Thank you, K-Karine. No-No one has been this-this nice to me in so long. I-I am so gr-grateful."
Karine squeezed him a little tighter. "Of course, sweetheart. You deserve every good thing life has to offer, and I will make sure you believe that someday."
Elliot hesitantly snuggled up a little closer to Karine, still sniffling. Karine smiled and rubbed her hand up and down his thin arm. "You're okay, Elliot. I promise, you're okay."
. . .
It wasn't long before Broderick and Yvonne both joined Elliot and Karine on the couch. Broderick brought a variety of snacks and Yvonne brought four fresh cups of tea. Karine flipped through their movie options, and while Elliot had asked to help, he was told that his job was to relax and get comfy. So, that's exactly what he did.
Eventually, the group decided on an old movie that none of them had seen yet, and as the four of them settled down to relax, Karine turned to her companions. "Where's Landon?" she whispered.
Elliot tensed. She clearly hadn't meant for him to hear her, and he suddenly felt guilty for eavesdropping.
Broderick shrugged. "He left soon after you kicked him out of Elliot's room. He's been gone since then."
Karine scoffed. "Good. I don't think I'd be able to keep from kicking his ass if he showed his face here right now."
Elliot twisted beneath his blanket in order to look up at Karine. He craned his neck until his eyes met hers. "Please, don't blame him, Karine. I swear, it really was all my fault."
Karine shook her head. "You don't have to defend him, Elliot. He shouldn't have yelled at you."
"But he was right. I was being bad. I wasn't listening."
"Elliot," Karine softly began. "We can talk about this later. Right now, I think we could all use a night to relax, okay?"
Elliot hesitated. He wanted to keep arguing that Landon wasn't at fault, that Elliot had been a bad pet and ignored Landon's instructions. Despite that, he knew he couldn't ignore Karine's. So, he shut his mouth and fixed his gaze on the television again.
The room was silent for a while after that, save for the gentle humming of the television. It wasn't until the movie was halfway over that the silence was finally broken.
Elliot jumped and tensed as the door to the safe house creaked open. He glanced over his shoulder just in time to see Landon trudge through, several brown bags on his arms.
Elliot hunched his shoulders and Karine pulled him tighter against her. Landon gently set the bags down and sighed, only then noticing the rest of the group staring at him, the movie forgotten in the background.
Landon smiled sheepishly. "Hey, guys."
Karine glared at him. "Where the hell have you been?"
Landon nervously rubbed the back of his neck and said, "Um...well, I-I felt awful about what happened earlier, so I-I picked up some food from that Spanish place that Elliot used to like so much." He gestured to the bags at his feet. "I hope it's still your favorite." Elliot's face turned pink and Landon's awkward smile faded. "I just...wanted to do something to say I'm sorry. What I did was really shitty, and-and I'm so sorry, buddy. Can you forgive me?"
All eyes turned toward Elliot, who shrunk beneath the weight of everyone's expectant gaze. He tried not to pay attention to it and instead fixed his eyes on Landon. "It-It wasn't your fault. I-I wasn't listening, so-so you shouldn't have to-to apologize. I-I'm the one that should be s-sorry."
Landon sighed and smiled. "I wasn't mad at you, buddy. You did nothing wrong. I was mad at-at that bastard that did this to you. If I could bash his head in twice I would, but...but I shouldn't have taken my anger out on you, buddy. I'm sorry."
Elliot lowered his head to hide his burning cheeks. "It's-It's okay. I for-forgive you."
Landon smiled and glanced over at Karine, who wore an expression that said, 'he may forgive you, but I dont.' She turned back around to face the TV, her arm still wrapped protectively around Elliot.
Elliot sighed contentedly and leaned into Karine's warm touch as Landon set out plates and bowls full of Elliot's favorite foods. Elliot smiled, and for once, the voice in his head had nothing to say.

Sorry this one took a little while to come out. I haven't been super happy with any of my writing lately, and this chapter was no exception.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed another Karine chapter! I promise, Yvonne's is coming next.

What makes the writing for Landon even more dumb is that they totally forgot just how smart and aware Landon is. Landon spent his whole life learning to survive on his own, dealing with abuse and horrible people. He learned how to protect himself well enough to survive the traumatic upbringing he had. So he was aware of people who had ill intentions and when he wasn’t treated right, he’d had plenty of experience with that throughout his life. And we saw how he was aware of those things and didn’t wanna put up with being treated badly, he would even speak up about it and call people out at times in the beginning of the show. And he could also tell when people were lying too. Like he said in 2x01, he’d developed a gut feeling for it. He’s very perceptive and discerning, yet we’re supposed to believe he buys into all the crap he’s fed later on, especially in season 4? We’re supposed to believe that he really believes the squad are his friends and that he doesn’t see how terribly they’ve treated both him and Hope? That he doesn’t see how they’ve used him and betrayed him repeatedly? We’re supposed to believe that he didn’t see how the ferrywoman was using him and bought into what she was telling him, enough for him to accept an eternal curse?? Landon would never. He would’ve easily seen through the squad and that they weren’t really his friends and that they didn’t care about him. He would’ve easily seen through the ferrywoman and how she’d prevented him from escaping limbo the whole time and he never would’ve accepted her offer. He would’ve seen through all these lies. It just shows even more how little Brett and the writers for the last season understood Landon’s character, or they just didn’t care and decided to ignore whatever they needed to for the sake of the plot they wanted. Like honestly, if Landon had previously been the way the writers wrote him in season 4, if he’d been that way throughout his life, with him just accepting everything and being fine with all the awful things happening to him and not seeing the reality of how he was being treated, I don’t think he would’ve survived the life he’d had. He wouldn’t have learned how to protect himself because, according to how the writers wrote him in season 4, he would’ve just accepted the mistreatment and abuse. They gave him like no sense of self-preservation or any concern for his own well-being by the end, so it’s hard to imagine he would’ve survived all he’d gone through if he’d been that way before. And even if he had survived, if he was like how they wrote him in limbo, he wouldn’t have wanted anything better for himself. He would’ve believed he belonged in abusive foster homes, that he was meant to be left behind. So he wouldn’t have even tried to stay at the school in the first place, and the majority of the plot for the show wouldn’t exist. The writers really decided to take so much of what had previously been established for Landon’s character and throw it out the window. So that they could have Landon bowing down to everyone else, so he’d be the sacrificial lamb they wanted him to be, who they could use however they wanted.
