Part One of Sonic Scribbles from The Past Months .

This was at first me just Revisiting an Old Fixation from Memory, and coming up with an AU and Designs for it where I Throw all the Characters and Storylines I enjoyed as a Kid into the Stirring Pot. Perhaps I will Divulge more into my Ideas Another Time. (As a Sidenote, I Haven't engaged Too Much with all of the Recent Stuff so that's not really Considered here.)

“What if… Maria survived, but Shadow didn’t.”

Here’s some art I made over a year ago and decided to take out of the drafts. This was made when Shadow the Hedgehog vs the World was starting out, so the ideas this represents may or may not be part of the story.

If you can spare some time, please read the short story relating to the image! It gives some interesting lore:

[ARCHIVED] MISSING PERSONS Status Report: After weeks of searching, we have finally located the whereabouts of Gerald Robotnik’s lab experiment, Project Shadow, and his missing granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. We traced the coordinates of their escape pod from the Space Colony ARK into a desolate tundra. GUN Soldiers were detained to the closest construct, an abandoned government base, after finding no signs of the two near the pod.

When they searched inside the base, they found a makeshift lab containing Maria Robornik inside a vat of an unknown substance. She was unconscious, but thankfully, she was in an alive state when they safely removed her. As for the experiment, its body was found inside another vat. Unfortunately, Project Shadow was left in a worse condition and it’s vitals signs didn’t indicate any signs of life.

No one is certain about what happened between their arrival on the planet and the moment they were found by the soldiers, but based on the tools found all over as well as the precise incisions on certain areas of both Maria and Project Shadow’s bodies, we theorize that some form of experimentation was performed by an unknown party with prior experience and access to bio equipment.

A manhunt will be conducted on the party that performed these illegal practices. As for the girl and the experiment, we will take them both back to home base for thorough examination and questioning when they are at a functional state.

Okay, wow. I think I am now obsessed with this AU considering how fast I made this.

These outfits are made by the amazing @cheap-slaw in consideration of the AU and I just had to try it out for myself. Really enjoyed myself, may tweak it here and there and try other stuff but this was fun. Also a closer look into maybe what I want their dynamic to be like. I have a couple scenarios about maybe Doctor Stone being grumpy and Agent Robotnik being thoroughly amused.

Is this an excuse to draw bratty Stone? maybe. I'm not sure what I wanted when I made this but I'm working through it. As always, any suggestions for designs or personality traits are always welcome. All in all, lovely design by the god of Stone in Fashion™ and I now am going to study that as I am lacking.

Sonic, sleep deprived, irritated, and suffering a headache. He hasn't slept properly in weeks. Every time he closes his eyes, he's met with one old traumatic memory and two newly created just from one nightmare alone. It would be fine, and he could handle this no problem, if he didn't accidentally take out his frustrations on his friends amidst it all. He didn't mean to yell at Amy, he didn't mean to shove Knuckles, he didn't mean to dismiss and ignore Tails so much, but he's just, so tired.

He feels delirious and sloppy and Eggman keeps taunting him about it.

Sonic is sure that ugly mustache knows something about this. This has to be his doing, who else would make a deal with an ancient evil to ruin Sonic's day, er, night in this case. Whatever that thing haunting him in his sleep is, it had to be some malevolent bulshit spirit that Eggman dug up from some unsavory tomb. Sonic just needs to find a way to shove it back and seal it again so it'll leave him alone. He just needs to figure out its weaknesses before he keels over from exhaustion completely. Easy peasy.

Sonic Prime AU time! (coz this has been everywhere in the last month or so.) Basically just some ideas I had for shatterverse versions of Sonic and Shadow, set after the end of the series.

New Yoke City: Based on the idea in SA2 where it's kinda implied Sonic was also made on the Ark like Shadow (which is never brought up again). Basically Nine stumbles across a pod that contains the New Yoke version of Sonic (Spirit) and excitedly wakes him up. However he quickly finds that this is not the Sonic he met before; Spirit has never been out of his bio-tank thingy before, he is basically a newborn in a full grown body, with the mentality of a newborn too. Spirit is a wide-eyed innocent child, sweet, kind and trusting, a stark contrast to the world around him and the people in it. Nine is having a hard time adjusting, especially since Spirit's keeps chewing on all his power cables. He is also constantly being accused of having cloned Sonic. Which he totally did not! He found this Sonic fair and square thank you very much!

Meanwhile, having lost their power source, the Chaos Council has lost a lot of ground to the resistance. In searching for new power sources and weapons, they discover Project Umbra (three guess who this is). Umbra leans a little more into his alien side than Shadow does, he is also less of an angsty teen and more of a scared, grieving child lashing out at a world that hurt him. He agrees to work for the council only due to the distant family connection, but he doesn't particularly like them or care about their goals. He just wants to see the world burn. Of course, things change when he finds out his baby brother survives the raid on the Ark. Tho he is not particularly happy about this strange fox hanging around, acting all buddy buddy with Umbra's brother. Ugh, the nerve of that guy!

Boscage Maze: Got inspiration from movies like Nausicaa and Origin: Spirits of the Past. So the instead of the prism, the massive jungle was actually caused by a bio-experiment gone wrong which set off an apocalypse. There are effectively three groups of survivors, those that escaped into space (mainly GUN people), those that survived on the surface (whose descendants became groups like the scavengers) that live more or less in harmony with the jungle, and those that made it into underground shelters and were put into stasis chambers where they have slept for several hundred years. The latter two group are often at odds with each other, one wanting their old world back, the other wanting the jungle to stay as is. Dr Nightshade Robotnik and his assistant, Sunny, are among the stasis group.

In this universe Gerald went down the road of cybernetics as well as genetic engineering when creating his Ultimate Lifeform, Nightshade. Their Maria got to live her life to it's fullest, becoming a scientist like her grandfather. Nightshade also dedicated his life to science, wanting to follow Maria's dreams of making the world a better place, even after she passed away. Sunny benefited from their research, as it's thanks to their work into cybernetics that he is able to walk (and run) again. Upon waking in the post-apocalyptic world, Dr Nightshade has made it his mission to find out what caused the plants to grow out of control and hopefully reverse the effects. Sunny, someone who sees the benefits of both the old and new world, hopes that he can help the good Doctor find balance between the natural and mechanized worlds. Meanwhile GUN is up to something rather suspicious up there in space...

No Place Sea: Yay pirate AU!! Honestly didn't have a lot of ideas beyond just pirates tho... Shadow is Captain Blackheart and is like super duper cursed. He is captain of a ghost ship, whose crew is also super cursed and/or undead. All save a single member, his navigator Tempest (Sonic), who is immune to the effects curses due to him being half siren. Tempest does not speak much as his voice is imbued with the charming power of a siren, which he lacks much control over. He has a knack for reading the winds and currents making him an ideal navigator in treacherous waters. He is both drawn to and fears the water, as something in those dark depths keeps calling to him, eager to drag him down down down into darkness... However he can't bring himself to stay away despite the danger, and luckily whatever is hunting him seems to steer clear of the ghost ship. In exchange for shelter aboard his ship, Tempest is helping Blackheart track down and decode ancient sea charts that will lead them to a great treasure he's been hunting. One said to be able to grant wishes: the chaos emeralds!

Does Eggman exist in your roadtrip AU?

I was thinking maybe no at first. Almost everyone is so short, so how would they be able to destroy badniks? Plus, I kinda want it to be a chill and relaxing au.

But then I was wondering how Shadow would exist if it wasn't with the help of Gerald and Maria. They're vital to his story and conception.

I realized last night that I can do whatever I want with this au, it's literally just an excuse for me to be self indulgent and make everything how I want it with the only glue being 'because I want it'. So if I can have humans exist but not have Eggman trying to take over the world- that'd be great! (Listen, this au is all self indulgent nonsense, but having some sort of reason for things being the way they are would be nice, plus I'm an overthinker and a lore lover so I was eventually gonna cover this entire au with lore.)

And it hit me- Mr. Tinker. Ivo Robotnik isn't a mad evil genius trying to take over the world in the RoadTrip AU, he's just a humble tinkerer that has a habit of making robots sentient. I've yet to draw this and I still gotta further explore the idea of the Robotnik family, but yeah! Eggman is just Mr. Tinker in this au (just without the whole amnesia thing)

So I thought about it for more than three seconds. It's still VERY ill-conceived, but that's what we have now, I apologize in advance for my bad English, this may be confusing.

Sonic Robotnik AU

Sonic

He grew up as a street child in Green Hilly, without parents or guardians. A boy living in a small settlement on the islands, despite his poverty and the absence of a parental figure, was a hero from childhood.

At some point, Eggman flies to Green Hill in search of emeralds. However, although his search turns out to be unsuccessful, he finds something, or rather someone capable of providing him with complete victory over the world. Sonic, literally radiating energy and capable of incredibly fast running, turns out to be the ideal weapon for Eggman.

So kid Sonic after all was adopted by Eggman. "It's better to be helped with all your heart than to be forced" - was Eggman's main motivation. Sonic grows up with Eggman as his adopted son. Thanks to the old man's lies, the hedgehog is sure that his adoptive father is a hero who is trying to achieve an idyll in the world, but he is being hindered by the evil GUN.

Sonic's fast running is used by Eggman as a way to fuel his robots, making them MUCH stronger. Sonic simply spends many years at Eggman's bases, training, researching and communicating with badnik. Until finally Eggman gives him his first task - to steal data about the Master Emerald and its location from GUN

Tails

Sonic still saved him as a child and served as his main motivator. But then Sonic simply disappeared, without warning. At that time, he and Sonic were not that close yet, but Sonic meant a lot to Tails. So when, some time after Sonic disappeared, Eggman’s attacks became almost unbearable, he decides to join GUN to become a hero like what Sonic was for him.

Tails here is still indecisive and Sonic's sudden disappearance has caused some more fears in his life. However, he is trying to improve. Tornado has actually evolved into a more portable version, resembling a jetpack. Tails simply flies high on his tails, and then flies forward using Tarnado, which helps him not to get tired ( He simply had no need for a plane because there was no one to sit on the wing and fly with him)

Shadow

Eggman's attacks were unbearable. The GUN couldn't cope. So they went to extreme measures, they tried to completely erase the Shadow's memory so that Gerald's plan for revenge would never be carried out, and also they gave him a collar, which, although not capable of killing him but can completely paralyze him, enough time to put it back into the storage capsule.

So without memories he just works for GUN. At some point he becomes close to Tails, because part of him seems to remember and want something like a sibling relationships. And Rouge becomes as attached to him as he is to her.

Life goes on as usual until one blue hedgehog appears and starts acting strangely trying to steal information from GUN. And for some reason his last name Robotnik, which he constantly repeats, seems too familiar. And not only because they are also called Eggman.
