i started like, gagging and sweating and almost fainted after my blood draw, which hasn’t happened since I was kid :( i felt really embarrassed.

I spent 59$ at the fancy grocery store (not Whole Foods im anti)

bought a lemon ginger kombucha, two packs of sushi, rambutans, two blocks aged kerrygold, ruby chocolate, vanilla cake, raspberry cake, and pumpkin cookies.

Teatale

Teatale is an AU where monsters naturally create tea leaves with their magic, and their clothes sprout and shed them. The quality of the leaves and tea directly correlate to the monster’s health and mood, and weekly checks are done to assess the health of each and every monster.

The Royal Guard(eners) conducts these checks. Each member has a tool pouch that contains pruning tools and collection trays.

There is a crack in the mountain range that allows natural sunlight to filter in. Monsters have devise a method to capture this light in containers, and use that for most lighting fixtures. The crack is also how the Underground tells time, though the stars are obscured.

This AU takes place in a timeline where Asriel and Chara did not pass, and only Frisk fell after Chara.

Home (Also known as Castle Town) is where the Royal Family resides. It features a large castle, with businesses and the Royal School surrounding it. The notable residents of Home are

Frisk (Tapi) - The last fallen human. Younger than Chara. They are mute, communicating with sign language or written words. Humans do not produce tea. Instead, their determination can be forced into balls, akin to tapioca pearls.

Chara (Oca) - The first fallen human. Younger than Asriel. They always hang out around Frisk, and tend to cause mischief at school. Also produces tapioca like balls of determination.

Asriel (Chamo) - The son of the King and Queen, but doesn’t like being called the Prince. The oldest of the Dreemurr siblings. Shy at times, but not afraid to stand up for his friends. His tea is Chamomile, and makes the drinker very sleepy.

Toriel (Lady Grey) - The Queen of the Underground. Motherly and kind, but stern when need be. Often bakes pie. Is also one of the teachers at the Royal School. Her tea is Earl Grey, and makes the drinker alert.

Asgore (Dandy) - The King of the Underground, and an aspiring landscape artist. Softspoken and timid, but warmhearted. His tea is Dandelion, and it makes the drinker calm.

Snowdin is a forest town up the caverns from Castle Town. It most notably features Grillby’s, a popular cafe with quality, but inexpensive food, and the Snowdin Inn, a nice place to rest on a journey through the Underground. Notable residents are

Papyrus (Hibi) - Younger brother to Sans. Member of the Royal Guard(eners). Aspires to become the Guard Master one day, but can always fall back on being a Underground renowned chef. Worries about his brother often. His tea is Hibiscus, and makes the drinker energetic.

Sans (Chai) - Older brother to Papyrus. Member of the Royal Guard(eners). The reason the Guard has a pun as their official name. Enjoys making jokes. Has the highest quality leaves in the Underground, and sheds a lot. Worries about his brother a lot. His tea is Masala Chai, and makes the drinker relaxed and lost in thought.

Monster Kid (Lem) - Aspiring Royal Guard(ener). Wants to be just like Undyne someday. Has trouble sitting still in school, but tries their best. Their tea is Lemon, and gives the drinker vivid dreams.

Grillby (Green) - Owner and barista at his sef named cafe. Doesn’t speak often, but does go on tangents when he does. Is frustrated with Sans’ tab, but doesn’t really mind too much in the end. Is made of steaming water. His tea is Green, and it makes the drinker focus.

Waterfall is past Snowdin, and consists of many rivers, lakes and swamplands. It is a popular sightseeing spot, as the flora there glows blue, and so does the water. The cavern ceiling also sparkles with mineral deposits. Notable residents are

Undyne (Bucha) - Guard Master of the Royal Guard(eners). A warrior at face, but understanding at heart. Lives in the swamplands of Waterfall. Likes to show off her strength, and also loves anime. Her tea is Kombucha, and it gives the drinker a stamina boost.

Napstablook (Whi) - Ghost DJ. Often plays sets at the City with Mettaton. Cries often, sleeps moreso. Is always wearing their hat. Their tea is White and it makes the drinker nostalgic.

Temmie (Sweetie) - An energetic monster that leaves Temmie Village to go to school, so that one day they can graduate from college. Likes long walks and the smell of cookies. Their tea is Sweet and will give the drinker a sugar rush.

Hotland (Also known as the City), is a large part of the Underground. The City is about the size of two Castle Towns, and is the only place in the Underground with artificial lighting. Hotland is most notable for the MTT Hotel and Suites, a hotel and restaraunt branch owned by Mettaton. Notable residents are

Alphys (Matcha) - Royal Scientist(a). A recovering shut in and top tier anime fan. Loves Mew Mew Kissy Brewy far too much. Is trying very hard to go outside and socialize. Likes Undyne. Her tea is Matcha and it makes the drinker have an ephipany.

Muffet (Cider) - Baker of the City. Knows everyone’s favorite flavors and tries to coordinate her wares with other food places in the Underground. Has a nasty habit of overcharging. Her tea is Apple Cider, and it makes the drinker hungry.

Mettaton (Oolong) - The Star of the Underground. Owns MTT Hotels and Suites, and hosts the news daily, along with other entertainment programs. Fashionable, outgoing, and confident. Loves singing and posing. Their tea is Oolong and makes the drinker want to dance.

The Core is a large facility in the center of Hotland. Upkeep is done by Alphys. No one else is there. No one knows who made it. No one knows but

[ W.D. Gaster (Milke) - Former Royal Scientist(a). Designer of the Core. Vanished from time and space and all memory. Was distorted and destroyed almost instantly after a freak accident wiped him from existance. Makes visits. His tea is Milk and ?????????????????????? ]

Eclipsius- son of Lunaris and Crescenca (FOC). Grandson to Meridian, Nocturnus (MOC), and Rilla (FOC)

Appearance: red hair, light blue eyes, cerulean skin, and has a birthmark reminiscent of an eclipse on the back of his right shoulder (a circle surrounded by a crescent). Lithe frame that gains muscle as he gets older.

Personality: polite, intelligent, creative, observant to behavior and detail/good listener, passionate, amicable, curious, and honest

Appearance: long red hair, light blue eyes, lapis skin, and a birthmark( in the shape of a crescent moon with little dots inside it to mimic stars. Slender frame with hints of curves.

Personality: gentle, protective, brave, smart, encouraging, free-spirited, and reasonable

Appearance: pale jade hair, seafoam skin, and dark aquamarine eyes. Thin but athletic build

Personality: sensitive, humble, thoughtful, alert, soothing, outspoken, and wise

Something About: Is a cautious mother but not too overprotective. Is experienced and understands that the worse thing she can do is prevent her child fromf acing the world. Will not hesitate to take action or jump in to defend her loved one. Very sweet and sensible. Loves winter, spring, large marine mammals, small mammals, and owls. Fun/Weird Facts: Is full Paxusian in one AU (more to come)

Sinus: canon Moonlander man. Brother of Ephemeris (FOC), mate/husband of Axira (FOC), and father of Polara (FOC) has the same build as the male Moonlander who said “Oh no!” at the end of “The Golden Spear” but with similar coloring to Polara. Loving and protective father who is new to Earth. Very cautious of Eclipsius in all my AUs where he and Eclipsius both exist. Yet to decide on voice actor.

Ephemeris: sister of Sinus (canon), sister-in-law of Axira (FOC), and aunt of Polara (FOC)

Appearance: plum hair, dark violet skin, aubergine eyes with a build similar to Zenith.

Personality: intelligent, voice of reason, undauntable, sarcastic, caring, firm, and open-minded

Voice Actress: Yet to be announced

Inspirations: Dr Baranova (Transformers Rescue Bots), Velma Dinkley (Scooby Doo), Professor Ivy (Pokemon), Susan Calvin (I, Robot). More to come.

Something About: Keeps a cool-head under pressure. Is serious but not neurotic or belittling. Takes everything into stride. Actually has a humorous and friendly side to her. Loves her brother but can only put up with so much of his antics and nervousness. Also gets mad when Penumbra and Lunaris argue.

Obscurin: fellow Moonlander soldier and surrogate brother of Lunaris and Penumbra.

Appearance: similar muscular build to Lunaris but has a sharper face structure. Cobalt skin with indigo eyes and white hair (later dyes it midnight blue). Wear more gold armor.

Personality: soft-spoken, trustworthy, loyal, heart of gold (again, pun not intended), ethical, courageous, rational.

Voice Actor: Sterling K. Brown

Inspirations: Mattias (Frozen 2), Cutter (Antz), Ultra Magnus (Transformers Prime), Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes (Marvel), and Ronan (Epic)

Somethings About: In many AUs, he was raised and trained alongside Penumbra and Lunaris by Meridian. He lost his own father at an early age and Meridian stepped in. He is essentially the ideal soldier, as he puts his people first and will only disobey an order when he has no other choice. While he truly does want to be a father and have a mate, his strict work ethic and outside demeanor make it hard for him to connect with anyone aside from Lunaris, Penumbra, Ephemeris, Sinus, Gibbous, Zenith, Palus, Axira, Meridian (before he died), and Crescena. He is also essentially Eclipsius’s godfather/uncle. Is still a caring and good man underneath it all.

Paxusians: In two or so of my AUs, Paxusians are a sister race to the Moonlanders. They are similar in biology and looks but, as oppose to the Moonlanders’s blue, green, and purple skin coloring, they come in a variety of other colors. Both species can also survive with and without atmosphere. The Paxusians once too also once lived on a Moon (one of Mars’ moons) in peace with both the Moonlanders and the people of Mars’s other moon, the Bellumites. The Paxusian culture/society is like a cross between ancient civilizations and futuristic utopia, their lunar home having similar qualities to Earth (plants, water, art, resources, animals, minerals, ruling system/government, etc.).

That changed when the Bellumites lost their resources and sought out the terraform Mars itself. At the same time, the Paxusians were looking to make a union with the Moonlanders and decided to colonize and terraform Mars as well to make room for future generations. Despite attempts to negotiate with each other, the Paxusians and Bellumites declared war on each other. While the Bellumites (reptile-simian esque creatures) had their weapons and strength, the Paxusians had their own defense: Aether-Wielders. These Aether Wielders were Paxusians who could derive/use the energy and life force of their surroundings and elements to heal/help others or fight against enemies.

The war went on for a decade before a biological attack attempt by the Bellumites went south and ended killing off all the Bellumites and hurting both Mars and the Paxusians home. While the Paxusians were able to flee with a good amount of their tech and resources, the Aether-Wielder numbers had been horrendously obliterated to three. The Moonlanders, who were lead by Meridian, allowed the Paxusians a safe haven on their planet. All was well for three years before the Paxusians discovered that they could not thrive in Tranquility like they did on their own home. So, with a heavy heart, Meridian and his fellow Moonlanders bid goodbye to their neighbors. It was around this time that Meridian noticed the Earth start emitting more objects off their planet, causing him to force his people to hide indefinitely. Little did they know that their fellow lunarsapiens had found refuge on a little island on the same planet the Moonlanders feared.

Fact: Paxusians cames form the word Pax which is Latin for peace. Bellumites comes from Bellum which means war. I did it in reference to Tranquility. Peace and Tranquility.

Wine + Eggs, 3129 ½ Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles (Atwater Village), CA 90039

Thirsty? Like wine? In the COVID-world, small specialty grocery stores have been popping up around Los Angeles. They’re like the corner stores of old but with higher standards. Wine + Eggs recently opened in Atwater Village. About half of the stock is devoted to wine, spirits, and beverages (including natural and organic wines). We don’t drink wine or spirits, so I’ll focus on the grocery and home items.

I don’t think they make any prepared foods but they carry bread from Bub & Grandma’s (delivered fresh daily) and frozen pizza from a place in North Hollywood. The selection of prepared foods is limited. Honestly, the selection of everything is limited with the possible exception of natural and organic wines and fancy salt, but they have interesting snacks, organic produce (citrus, herbs, onions, apples, potatoes, squash), sauces, spices, coffee, tea, pasta, rice, heirloom beans, cookies, chocolate, spices, olive oil, vinegar, kombu, etc.

The home goods consist of cutting boards, ceramics, wood spoons, rolling pins, reusable grocery bags, and cookbooks.

My picks:

Sanzo Calamansi sparkling water ($2.49/can): No sugar, fruit essence, no calories but still has nice citrusy flavor lime lemon lime. Seems expensive for one can of sparkling water but their price is cheaper than Amazon’s. Most places charge $3/can for Sanzo.

chYum salted egg fish chips, no MSG ($9.75): Not a bad price, it’s $9.50 if you buy from chYum but you have to pay for shipping and handling. The salted egg flavor wasn’t strong enough because of the strong fish skin flavor.

Yesfolk Jasmine kombucha ($3.99): A new kombucha to try! These go for $5/can

Organic dried oregano branch from Sicily ($7.49)

Heirloom desert sunset garlic, organic ($2/head): First time trying heirloom garlic, saw this online for $4.25 a bulb and they were sold out.

The shop is cute and organized. You can pick up some complimentary drink coasters and matches. Prices might seem high but the markup doesn’t seem to be high. You can actually save money vs. the retail price of some items. They’re currently limiting the number of shoppers in the store to 3 (COVID). Hand sanitizer is provided.

Missed a couple days so we’re gonna do a combo!

5/6/2021: How I did today

2,387 cal in // 2,615 cal out (228 deficit)

Step count: 8,164

Exercise: upper body circuit and core

Breakfast: PB cereal bar, lemon lime Gatorade, black coffee

Snack: banana berry smoothie

Lunch: wine country chicken salad on a piece of toasted seeded bread

Snack: chocolate chip cookie, dark chocolate, string cheese

Dinner: smoked andouille chicken sausage, air fried sweet potato wedges, Texas toast, kombucha

Dessert: healthy chocolate mug cake (whole wheat flour, maple syrup, cocoa powder, Greek yogurt)

Too many sweets today but otherwise on par with my goals. Felt pretty out of it all day but took a nap and made the afternoon productive!

5/7/2021: How I did today

2,688 cal in // 2,890 cal out (202 deficit)

Step count: 11,004 steps

Exercise: Blogilates Hot Girl Summer Day 1 (30 minute full body)

Breakfast: bacon egg and cheese on a bagel, black coffee, kombucha

Snack: banana

Dinner: half a big-ass burger with the works, French fries, a strip and a half of thick cut maple bacon, 2 glasses red wine

Dessert: homemade blueberry lemon crumb cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a shot of tia Maria, and a shot of jameson

I felt really good about my food choices today (even though I ended the night bloaty and gassy) because I stuck to my plan. I didn’t eat lunch because I was running around and forgot but other than that my day was pretty balanced and I didn’t feel restricted. I got in a killer work out (start of a 14 day challenge) and walked a lot.

I went out to eat with my family and had them over for dessert and it was just a lovely night.

Healthy Habits From Those In The Know

With a fresh year and a clean slate ahead of us, “Be Healthy!” (bold and underlined twice!) has likely claimed top spot on many a persons’ to-do lists. Although we wish it to be true, there is no magic resolution or special shortcut to achieve a happy, healthy life. There is however the gentle discipline of cultivating healthy life choices. Laura Jeha -- RD, MHSc -- @ahealthyappetiteca I noticed the number of steps I take each day has drastically decreased since the weather has gotten cooler. The healthy habit I'm focusing on for 2021 in at least 10,000 steps everyday. I plan to get some good winter boots, bundle up, and get walking. I'm going to either pop in a podcast and go on a morning walk before work, or recruit a friend to join me as a way to connect safely during a time when social gatherings aren't happening.

Dora Kamau -- RPN, BScPN -- @dora_kamau My intention for 2021 is to be ME and continue to create spaces for others to be themselves, whether it's through my meditations or events! Diving deeper into my meditation practice -- creating more time in my schedule to just be and enjoy the little moments. Doing a few trainings and connecting with other like-minded individuals.

Desiree Nielsen -- RD - @desireenielsenrd 2020 was the year I connected to the power of (near) daily exercise. Nothing crazy, just 15-30 sweaty minutes to clear my mind and flush out my nervous system. For 2021, I’m really going to be re-examining the amount of time I spend on my phone. Because I use social media for work, it’s really easy to justify constant connection but it really messes with you. I’ve just let go of Facebook and I want to set clear boundaries about how often I’m online.

Carter Reid -- CNP -- @carterreid The most important healthy habit for me at this point are ones involving the mind! Our minds are so powerful and we've often gotten used to misusing them in our own unique ways. 2020 was all about awareness for me. 2021 is all about leveraging that awareness for intentional action. Protecting my state of mind this year is a major focus. In my actions, the boundaries I set, the people I surround myself with, my meditation practice, prioritizing education, and taking immediate action when I receive the call to do so!
