every once in a while, when it's a quiet moment between him and one of his partners—could be anything from a stake out to a long drive in lucille to the warm moments between making love and sleep—eliot will turn to them and say, tell me something i don't know.
parker will usually tell him secrets. the bits of history that only exist between her, bunny, and now eliot. there's a lot from living on the streets, when she was young. she tells him about training with archie; eventually, she tells him what it felt like. she tells him about loneliness and not understanding and frustration and how her hands hurt when she wants to flicker them around; when he asks her why she doesn't let them, she says to ask another night. that's too big a secret to share when another's been revealed already. he does ask, and she does answer. once, she says in a shaking voice, i love you and hardison so much, and parker feels silly because duh eliot knows that, hardison knows that, but eliot heard something deeper than she could express, so he held her tight and kissed her hair as she shivered through the weight of her confession. after sharing with eliot, sometimes parker feels comfortable enough to share with hardison, peggy, sophie, or a client who needs to know they are not alone in the mess and hardship of the world. much later, the fact that parker has shared something once makes it easier to tell her shrink as she gets on SSRIs, which she seeks out after confessing to eliot that even if it had been based on a lie to grift hurley, maybe there was something to her treatment at the second act rehabilitation center that she missed. occasionally, she'll tell him about art. he listens just as patiently as anything else she decides to divulge and she loves him all the more for it.
hardison infodumps. parker didn't press eliot for what he meant the first time he asked; hardison did. eliot had shrugged, anything you wanna share. hardison nips out a testy, so if i go off about (he paused thinking of something that would surely turn eliot off) optimal simcity street design strategies, you wouldn't mind? eliot didn't back down, even when hardison went into a two-hour spiral that branched into different iterations on the concept, including rollercoaster typhoon. eliot made a few comments here and there, asked some clarifying questions now and again, but otherwise let hardison rail on. the next time, the question was framed as what you working on? but the effect was the same. eventually, hardison stopped hesitating and started looking forward to these monologue sessions. hardison doesn't think anything of them other than he's got some quality time with his partner, until one day on a job with some leverage international trainees, eliot manages (elle woods style) to untangle the lie at the heart of a condo scam with a few pointed questions about the plumbing. when one of the trainees asked how the hell he knew that, hardison expects to hear over the comms how eliot once dated a plumber or an architect; instead, eliot scoffs, you met my partner. genius knows a little of everything. which is when hardison remembers once infodumping about sprinkler systems. eliot gets the tightest of hugs when he gets home for truly listening to hardison.

Eliot definitely tags along on Parker and Hardison’s dates to:
Keep them safe (fight in a locked off comedy frame, of course)
Pay any musicians around to play something the two of them will like, which isn’t necessarily classically romantic stuff
Break into kitchens at restaurants they might go to and take over cooking for them because he knows how they like their food, and if they’ve ordered something that they won’t like he can change it

My headcanon:
Hardison and Parker are the only two that are allowed in Eliot's personal space unannounced.
He has to see Breanna and Harry coming- because if he doesn't- on instinct he might hurt them.
Sophie and Nate can be in his personal space- on a good day.
But Hardison and Parker?
They're allowed.
Parker can throw things at Eli any time she wants to. She can run her hands through his hair and steal his sweatshirts, shirts, and even flannels. Sometimes- Eli and Hardison catch her wearing his beanies. And she's always welcomed in his home. Day or night and he's never surprised seeing her there. (Sometimes when Eli brings a girl over- and he walks into his apartment and she's on his couch- he kicks the girl out.) Parker is more important than a one night stand. In the morning- Eliot has her favorites on the bar waiting for her. Eliot kisses' Parker's forehead or temple sometimes.
(Hardison isn't jealous of their friendship. Eliot is the only person he truly trusts with Parker.)
Hardison is one of two people who can take food off Eli's plate or fridge. (Parker is the second one. Duh!) He's also the only one that Eliot can sit and listen talk geek speak- if anybody else does it, Eli growls at them to shut up. He is also allowed in Eliot's apartment unannounced. Usually he comes with a movie and they have a guy's night. (Eventually Parker shows up and they end up snuggled on his couch.)

Good morning happy pride your queer headcanon of the day is trans man Alec Hardison + Parker whose gender is "Parker" or "whatever I find in someone else's pockets" + Eliot Spencer who's mostly their boyfriend but also "babygirl" and always has the prettiest hair.

My Leverage food headcanon of the day is that Eliot gets served homemade waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream for breakfast when he's injured or ill.
1. Easy enough to make that Eliot doesn't worry too much about Hardison and Parker in the kitchen (they have a tacit agreement not to try kitchen "experiments" when upsetting Eliot could exacerbate injuries/illness).
2. Flexible enough for Hardison and Parker to apply some creativity without risking either Eliot's taste buds or the safety of the kitchen.
3. Sweet/decadent enough to satisfy even Parker that they are suitably "spoiling" Eliot, without completely horrifying Eliot's nutritional standards. Sometimes he even lets Parker add some chocolate chips to his waffle. ("A few, Parker. No, less than that. More banana than chocolate chips, please. Hardison, this isn't funny--it's supposed to be breakfast, not dessert! *sigh* Sure, Parker, that looks great. No, I do not want chocolate sauce! There's already maple syrup on there!")

Who wants a really sad Leverage headcanon?
Was re-watching the Gimme a K Street Job -- Season 5 Episode 5 -- and a couple of things stood out to me.
1) Nate says "Let's go steal some congresspeople", and then sends everyone on the team (except Parker, who's being a cheer coach) out to con one of their targets. But it feels like there's a profound mismatch in who gets which mark.
For the "not like other girls" feminist congresswoman who's inclined to dismiss cheer as worthless and demeaning, you need Eliot to come in looking like a man who very much knows what does and does not count as a sport, and be his tiny angry respect-women-juice self about how regardless of what you think of their choice of clothing they are working as hard as any other athlete and they deserve safety as much as anyone else. But instead they sent Hardison.
For the "Yes I am very busy and important; admire me" chairman, you need Sophie, who is better than anyone else on the planet at making you feel admirable when you're doing what she wants, and scummy and low when you're not doing what she wants. But instead they sent Eliot.
For the "Look I am trying, but I need corn subsidies or I won't be able to do anything else" newbie congressman, Hardison could happily have gone on an infinitely recurring series of fetch quests until he sees the place where they loop around and bottom out and every problem solves every other problem. But instead they sent Sophie.
2) Eliot struggles the most, so Nate works with him the most, but he doesn't help him out hardly at all; he just keeps saying, "So what's your next play?" and then revealing that he's already anticipated Eliot's next play and has all the materials in place to enact it. And of course, they do eventually get the dude on board, and it all works out, but afterwards, Eliot tells Nate, "I trust that some time soon you'll tell me why you had me slogging through all that when you already knew how to hook him."
And of course, knowing what we now know about how season 5 ends, it makes sense that Nate is trying to train the OT3 to work without him, looking for his replacement.
Except.
If the plan is to fuck off into the sunset with Sophie, then why did he throw Sophie into this uncomfortable not-my-wheelhouse scenario?
No, Nate's preparing the entire team to carry on without him. He's forcing them to learn how to plan, learn different ways of approaching problems, to think about bigger pictures and approach them strategically.
...
I think Nate just got the first diagnosis of the disease that's finally going to kill him. And again, we -- the audience -- now know that he's going to live for many years after that initial diagnosis. But he doesn't know that, at this point. He knows he's tested positive, and he knows it's eventually going to kill him, and he has no idea how long he has.
And in some sense, it doesn't matter how long he has. Three months or thirty years, that kind of revelation makes it stunningly clear that taking care of the people you love means making sure that they can take care of themselves.
So that's what he does: he throws them into new, uncomfortable situations where they'll have to grow and support each other without him, so that no matter what happens, they'll be able to keep going. Because he's not a nice person, Jimmy Ford's son, but by God does he know the importance of protecting your family.

okay I absolutely get and adore harry being oblivious about ot3 developments, but consider:
after breanna makes it explicitly clear she’s queer in the card game job, harry starts Researching™
he’s trying to be good, be better. he likes this girl and wants to be there to support her and be her friend, someone she can trust. it doesn’t help that she’s around the same age as his daughter, who barely wants to associate with him anymore
he learns breanna is queer and dives into researching. watching TED talks in his spare time. reading ebooks on his phone in between playing roles in a con (bringing a physical book is less convenient and he doesn’t want to wave around the fact that he’s researching like he’s trying to be performative about it). he reads about legislation and book bans and wonders about how they could work their magic through a con to fix those things. he reads about asexuality and recognizes the flag colors from the sticker on breanna’s laptop, which he files away for later
he learns a lot! he has been peripherally aware of queer stuff- it’s kind of hard not to be in the 2020s, but now he is much more informed on a lot of issues. he has memorized at least 50 different labels and terms and has an index of resources in his head (and on his phone) if anyone might need them. he wants to understand the people he loves and cares about, whether it’s breanna or one of his daughter’s friends, or anyone in his life that is queer and he doesn’t know it yet. he wants to be ready and prepared to support them!
he learns about sapphicness and bisexuality and intersex rights and the gender spectrum. he learns about karyotypes and stonewall and other queer history. he learns about kink (blushing, but still reads because it’s important!) and relationship diversity… which leads him to discover the term polyamory
he tries not to actively apply the terms he has learned on the people in his life because he knows it’s wrong to assume things about other people. BUT. harry spends a few days reflecting on parker, hardison and eliot’s interactions and wonders. he thinks about the long hugs and lack of personal space and near telepathic communication not just between parker and hardison, but parker and eliot AND hardison and eliot. how parker knows how to make eliot take care of himself, how he knows when she forgets to eat because she’s so hyperfixated on planning a con. how parker jumps on his back for fun and no matter what, he always catches her. hardison’s absence is felt when he’s gone, deeply by the both of them.
it could just be a deep friendship, he knows. they have been working and living together for over a decade, of course they would be close!!! maybe they could even be queerplatonic! (another new word he learned!)
but. still. he quietly observes, watches closely, and thinks.

(really in my feels about the ot3 because of the @powerpolyculeshowdown so here's some propaganda)
parker and hardison allow eliot to be sillier. more ridiculous. outragous, even. eliot sings the stupid ditties hardison writes special for him, and he rolls his eyes at parkers pokes and prods and the occasional "accidental" face slap, and eliot can express himself for what actually bothers him no matter how nitpicky, versus having to calculate what he should say. (he still argues with hardison that throwing in on a brewpub was a stupid plan given its risk, no matter how many times hardison claims it was always a gift for him.) eliot laughs more. real laughs; you can tell because his smiles look more and more like grimaces: the way his ma perked her mouth which his dad always teased her about (though it was his favorite thing about her), rather than the wide toothy grins eliot learned because he knows, tactically, they are best for charming. parker and hardison let him not feel like he's a monster. or... parker tells him she always thought the big bad wolf had a bad rap, and hardison says some stupid shit about monsterfucking being the hip thing the kids are into these days, anyway.
hardison and eliot allow parker to feel deep. it's food that tastes like a hug and it's gadgets made just for her and it's loving and being loved and it's being one another's real families. she doessn't want to run away, anymore. or... she wants to run but with her friends beside her. or... running cons is all she's ever wanted to do, and all she did, for so long. parker is good at it. she loves it. she loves that hardison and eliot love it too. but... feeling deep is also being deep. she's no longer just her piles of money because she is no longer afraid of herself. her past. the memories that hurt. the habits she thought she needed to grow out of but always missed. these habits, like bleeping sounds that arent words and hands move move moving. hands that were once made to stay now can fly because hardison buys her fidgets and designs some just for her and keeps locks in lucille for when parker feels like infinity and needs the vibrations of ticktickticks to bring her back to herself. and eliot lets her braid and unbraid his hair; he won't let her blow dry it, not yet, but... he lets her pet his hair while it's still hot, now. it frizzes his hair a little, and parker feels her pulse rush throughout the day knowing she did that to him. eliot and hardison kiss her knuckles when they burn.
parker and eliot allow hardison to be mean. vindictive. he is nicer than he needs to be. wants to be... what he needs to be is nonthreatening, for the most part, in many places. he knows what it means to be him: tall and black and queer and gaining muscle and too smart for his own damn good and so very, very tenderhearted. hardison loves so damn deep, and he cares so damn much, but part of caring (the other side of a coin) is not giving a fuck. it's the boiling point of rage and betrayal. the i need to walk away from this fight because you are dead wrong and imma about to say something imma regret, so go fix yourself. the im not gonna forget, im not going to forgive, and im going to get my revenge. parker and eliot would not have questioned hardison's joy at securing the capture of the men that put him in that damn coffin; they hold space for him to be fully himself with all his ugly parts and his petty parts and the parts that do bring hardison shame if he thinks about it for too long. they know he's not perfect, and that? that feels like safety and love and forever to hardison.

[ID: Rough sketch of Eliot Spencer leaning on a bathroom counter in front of a mirror with his left hand, the right bent at the elbow before him. He has a bandage on his left thigh and an open bullet exit wound in his right shoulder, and is hunched forward slightly. His back has a few lightly visible scars that were absent in the Tapout Job. Beyond the door to the bathroom, Parker is leaning on the doorway looking in with a hand in her pocket, and a little distance behind her, Hardison is watching with his arms folded. End ID]
-
Probably the last sketch for a while and duly unfinished because otherwise I'll just abandon and forget about it, but it throws some headcanons into the mix:
Eliot gathers more scars and serious injuries as part of Leverage than back when he killed people because a lot of the time he's fighting people who are trying to kill him, but necessarily not using lethal force or killing blows, so he's always holding back and fighting against his training to some extent. He also fights harder because it's not his life that's at risk anymore, but those of his friends. Hence new scars on his back here that weren't in The Tapout Job.
After The Rundown Job, Eliot goes to deal with his injuries on his own, but Parker and Hardison are having none of it because how exactly is he meant to clean and stitch the exit wound on his back? After allowing him an hour to deal with it alone, they break into his hotel room to 'offer' their help. Eliot hasn't dealt with it yet because (i) too much blood loss/pain and he can't and/or (ii) caught up in thoughts of past similar operations that he's been in that maybe didn't go well and fears of what would have happened to Hardison and Parker if they'd messed up today, and all the reasons he doesn't want them involved in things his old life entailed.
Parker wants to know whether she could see all the way through Eliot via the bullet wound through his shoulder.

headcanons for you my friend 🤝
- the kombat kids call the adults The Olds
-cassie and jacqui aren’t allowed to do mission debriefs anymore bc they can’t look at each other without cackling, very much “me and bestie trying to hold it together in a serious situation.” they were delirious and wheezing on the floor a couple of times after some especially long assignments
-kuai liang discovered he has a thing for men in western wear. hanzo teased him about it after an encounter with erron black
-frost has become fiercely protective of takeda in her own way, tho would never admit it. takeda thinks it’s endearing and says she’s like a guard chihuahua
-kung jin and frost had beef for a while purely based on vibes but now have a “i can throw hands with you but no one else can or they die” type of relationship
-kung jin calls jacqui’s dad a dilf often among other things and she wants to tear her head open every time
-jade was kitana’s first kiss
-kung lao and liu kang were indeed also each other’s first kiss
-cassie is a skilled driver but she drives like she’s in the fast and the furious and it makes all of her passengers fear for their lives
I love these so much
The only adult who knows about The Olds being their nickname is Kung Lao, who all the kombat kids agree is basically one of them
Cassie and Frost aren't allowed to debrief either, nor are Jacqui and Takeda, because it always devolves into flirting. As a result, Kung Jin is the one usually responsible for handling debrief and he Hates it
Hanzo's next Halloween costume was a cowboy and it was meant as a way of subtly poking fun at Kuai Liang but it ended up with the cryomancer (NSFW ALERT) riding him into the mattress until they literally fucked themselves into exhaustion
Frost rolls her eyes at the chihuahua nickname and calls Takeda a golden retriever bc he's pretty and, as far as she's concerned, dumb (he isn't she's just being mean)
Kung Jin and Frost never use each other's names to the point where ppl wonder if they even know each other's names, they only call each other insults ("Bitchboy" "Canadian Goose")
Kung Jin calls Jax a dilf whenever he wants to annoy her or get her to leave him alone, he does the same with Cassie
Jade and Kitana had a whole romance for a while that ended a couple years before the tournament when they realized they were better off as friends. Living in Shao Kahn's court was not conducive to a healthy relationship even though they tried (they weren't toxic or anything, just not in a place to be committed to and vulnerable with another person and it caused a lot of conflict.)
Kung Lao and Liu Kang, however, were childhood sweethearts and Liu Kang was very anguished over developing feelings for kitana as well bc he didn't want to have to choose between the people he loved. They all talked it through and came to an arrangement that suited them and now Kitana and Kung Lao share a boyfriend.
Cassie drives like Parker from leverage (if you haven't seen that show I do Highly recommend it, it's modern day Robin Hood but with nutjobs and an ot3 that is not canon but also not contradicted by canon) so she's not allowed to drive unless the apocalypse is nigh and they need to get from point A to point B faster than god himself. Frost is the only person who enjoys it when Cassie drives while Johnny once nearly shit himself.

Hiii Fahye!
So I finally watched all of Leverage (binge watched the 5 seasons in 3 weeks) and I'm not even gonna talk about my emotions here but I was SURE you'd written fanfic for it and cried a little when I realized you hadn't TwT
Anyway do you have some headcanons/AU for the OT3 crawling in your brain you want to share with us? I just love them so much!!!
every time someone new discovers the wonder that is leverage, a corrupt billionaire gets an annoying crick in his neck and doesn't know why. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
and it's one of those rare shows where it's so perfect in what it is that I've never felt an overwhelming urge to write fic. I could probably produce some on demand, but unfortunately my on-demand creative energy these days is saved for Books I Am Under Contract To Write.
(fanfic still happens! but it tends to only be when a fic idea BURSTS OUT OF MY CHEST, alien-style, and insists on being written no matter what)

parker (leverage) for the headcanons ask game!!
Headcanon A: realistic
Honestly this was all but confirmed in s1 of redemption, but that is an autistic woman. Also definitely a-spec
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
Idk how unrealistic it is but I think that the ot3 eventually start adopting children, mostly teens who are already budding criminals. Eliot and Hardison are decent parents and want to foster and it just makes sense for them, but they're at first worried that Parker wouldn't be into it. One day however she leaves home and just comes back with a child. They're like 12 at most and she's already taught them how to pick a lock and the basics of pickpocketing in like, an hour. This happens more than once.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
Parker shuts down sometimes to the point that it scares the team. The ot3 especially eventually learn to live with it, but every once in a while she'll get overwhelmed and just disappear for weeks with zero notice, and especially during the first couple of years the team is together it's really scary for everyone.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
This directly negates canon but I think it'd be fun if she eventually becomes a HUGE scifi nerd. She gets into it via Hardison obvi but while he's into like, the more mainstream stuff like doctor who and TOS, she's really into dollhouse or even more niche shows and movies. The weirder it is the more she likes it.

is it weird to just answer the ask meme questions without actual asks? probably, but i want to yell about fandom shit rn so you can't stop me
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. its obvious that im in a grimm fixation rn, so i have to say nick/monroe as a romantic ship (or nick/monroe/rosalee), and the whole gang as a platonic relationship. For SGA, i'm always a mcshep fan but i honestly enjoy any pairing of AR1. Anyone that has followed me for an extended period of time knows that im a mcdanno (H50) and leverage ot3 truther as well.
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind. hmm, not sure? OH some folks doing the sga kinkmeme have mentioned john/cam and im very intrigued
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will. Rodney/Jennifer :( I love Jennifer, but the writers consistently changed her characterization and that relationship felt forced and weird (SGA)
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t. John/Elizabeth. I'm sorry! maybe its just because im gay af but to me their relationship felt like bffs, not romantic (SGA)
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what? I made that stargate cinnamon roll meme, if that counts
F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom? ~10 years
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it? i'm a multishipper for sure, but one of the first ships i remember really clearly was eric/ryan from csi miami (circa age like 12)
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)? TV!
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why? I dont know that it was entirely tumblr, but yeah, Voltron. The fandom was truly fucking awful
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.) uhhhh, like every show tbh. 99% of the shows i watch came from tumblr or online friends
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc? Eliot Spencer (Leverage)
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. hmm, I guess Adalind counts as a character who isnt one of my faves. She's a complex and interesting character, and its clear that a lot of her decisions come from a place of trauma. After having Diana it really shows that she does want to protect her and keep her safe (grimm)
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend. Ronon (SGA), Hardison (Leverage), Teal'c (SG1), etc
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom 1. men showing emotions!!! (grimm does this well, thankfully) 2. on a similar note: depicting how the shit these characters get up to is traumatizing and how that impacts them long term 3. literally any canon queer rep. can we PLEASE have a show like stargate or grimm where one of the characters (especially a man) is canonically queer? is that so hard???
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of? Forfeit by Rise Against always makes me think of ascended Daniel/Jack (SG1). Oh and ever since i saw a gifset with lyrics from it, Timberwolves at New Jersey by Taking Back Sunday makes me think of John (SGA)
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas). one of these fuckin days i am going to write a baseball SGA AU
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why. As previously mentioned: Voltron because the fan base was toxic and awful
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom? all my favorite fandoms are themed around found family so this is so hard lmao. Nick & Hank (Grimm), Eliot & Harry (Leverage Redemption), Harry & Breanna (LR), Don & Charlie if brothers count (Numb3rs), etc
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon anyone who reads my H50 fics knows that i will fuckin die on the hill that Danny has an anxiety disorder
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?  besides anxious danny, I'd say John having ADHD (SGA), and Monroe being bi (Grimm) are two right off the top of my head
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites 1. Steve McGarrett (H50) - he's been through so much shit, but he's still so damn loyal and protective and kind. He's such a good dude who is just traumatized beyond belief. 2. Charlie Eppes (Numb3rs) - besides the fact that i am CONVINCED he has ADHD, he's just so fucking loving and passionate about his work and the people he loves. he balances out the hardness of Don and the gang with the sheer size of his heart 3. Eliot Spencer (Leverage) - basically the same reason as steve. I have a type.
V - Which character do you relate to most? this is tough. probably Daniel (SG1) - esp early seasons - because of similar worldviews and interests and personalities, and Danny (H50) because of similar personalities
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom. MISCOMMUNICATION!! its so frustrating.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom. im a big ol softie so i love stuff like mutual pining, hurt/comfort, etc.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms Good Omens is a big one rn lmao. I've read the book but haven't watched the show. Also, Daredevil probably. I watched at least the first season years ago, but haven't seen anything beyond that. I still enjoy seeing people's posts about it and i read fic sometimes
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! im so cranky rn about the lack of depiction of trauma/mental illness/neurodivergence/etc in fandoms where its to be expected. like with Grimm rn, you give Nick PTSD and sensory enhancements but then suddenly forget about them?? that's not how that works! Or why is it always just hinted at that characters are ND? why is it so hard to just be like 'yeah no x has ADHD (or whatever)'? i want to be able to actually have complex/tough/interesting/etc protags that are ALSO neurodiverse. if we're all reading John as having ADHD (SGA) or Parker being autistic (leverage) anyways, why can't these things just be intentionally part of the character
