our secret diary (2023) - film, super cute sweet basic high school romance. not groundbreaking or anything but like a delicious dish of dessert you know you're going to enjoy. i think it's a total must watch if you're looking for a lighthearted romcom.

kimi no hana ni naru (2022) - series, fumiya plays ML and leader of a flopping boygroup. i'm not a huge fan of noona romance (FL is ML's former high school teacher) but that wasn't really the problem for me here. i just had qualms with FL's acting and fumiya was hard carrying for the entire series tbh. the music is VERY good (really feel good generic bg music *\(^o^)/*. fumiya looks extremely good in this series tho (understandable since he's playing an idol) |(￣3￣)| available on netflix.

themis no kyoshitsu: legal seishun hakusho (2023) - series, it's a law school drama and fumiya plays supporting role as one of the students. maybe it's because i watched other law tbs dramas so this one was underwhelming for me but i watched it just for fumiya and thought it was alright.

waru: hataraku no ga kakko warui nante dare ga itta (2022) - series, fumiya plays a lovable intern who has a crush on quirky FL (plays by the fabulous imada mio whom i adore). i had the worst 2ml syndrome and although i'm kinda glad FL technically doesn't end up with anyone i was stilllll rooting for fumiya's character so much. fumiya has more screentime than i initially thought and i loveeeee his character in this one (an adorable cutie).

saiai (2021) - series, fumiya plays a supporting role in this thriller mystery drama. i really liked this one but it wasn't because of fumiya, his screentime was minimal but the suspense was good. he's got that soft babie fumiya look for this one. it felt like a makjang kdrama. i recommend if you're in the mood for something thrilling (i think it's available on netflix as my dearest?).

bokura ga koroshita, saiai no kimi (2021) - series, fumiya plays the lead role in this thriller romance. i don't like series that leave me with way too many questions at the end so it was frustrating but fumiya's acting was insane so it was worth it. but very bloody and mild gore so trigger warning for that.

muchuu-sa, kimi ni (2021) - series, i think this was my first ever fumiya series but at the time i watched it i just thought it's a cute bromance series. kinda a strange dorama but it's healing and soft in a way.

divoc-12 (2022) - film, it's an anthology film so like a collection of short films so it's just 10 min really. i just watched it because CURLY HAIR FUMIYA.

Shison Jun films/series

joshiteki seikatsu (2018) - series, wonderfully heartwarming short series where jun plays a fabulous transgirl. i love it so much you can see i have started giffing for this series even though the raw quality is god awful (T . T)

gokushufudo (2020) - series, i ADORE this series. the premise is so wacky like it's about an ex yakuza/mafia dude adjusting to his new life as a house husband. jun plays an underling of ex-yakuza who assists him with various tasks. it's so funny i almost died laughing watching this one ✌︎('ω')✌︎.

high & low the worst and the worst x (2019 and 2022) - films, jun plays the lead role in this action comedy. i had fun watching but i wasn't really invested in this story. but like the acting and the music is excellent. if you like yu yu hakusho, i think you'll enjoy these films. both are available on netflix last time i checked.

i know that this answer probably wasn't that helpful but i hope once you start going down that takahashi fumiya or shison jun rabbit role, you'll find some series that you'll enjoy ٩( ᐛ )و

Water droplets crown the white petals of aster flowers as you cross the hills on the way home. The dewy, rich smell of wet earth rises as you walk and the sunlight glimmers through the gray clouds. You’re both still grinning, stealing glances at one another as though you have yet to be introduced and are too shy to speak to each other yet. Your shale hut comes into sight around the outcrop and his fingers brush yours. The touch pierces you like a hook and you feel yourself reeled towards him. It would be too easy to hold hands, to walk step by step like a couple. You look at him then, the sunlight spilling around him, and your heart feels something it has not felt in a long time.

You remember one of the last times you went fishing with your father, before the cancer that devoured his body, and his death. Before he’d grown so frail, from the cancer, from the treatments, that he could barely lift a rod. He’d been fit and trim then. You remember him humming one of his favorite sea-shanties as you cast out to sea in the black morning before dawn, the wind carrying you out across obsidian waves. It had been such a beautiful morning, the pair of you working like two balisets played in perfect harmony, reeling in that morning’s catch with ease and grace. And then, the sun rose a delicate saffron over silver seas and you both toasted your catch with some rice whiskey which your father was fond of. He belted sea-shanties as you sailed back into port, the wind billowing your sails. You’d sat at stern, steering the craft, salt-wind blowing in your hair, feeling the endless waters buoying you up from below like a promise. You knew in that moment life could not get much fuller. Your heart was a cup brimming and you were grateful.

Looking at Paul, your heart feels that way now. It is overflowing.

His thumb is gone and in his place, his lips. The kiss is air, their hot breaths mingling for a long moment. Dream can hear the thunder of his heartbeat between his ears, feel the ache of longing sharp in his gut. Then they part and stare at one another in the flickering, fuzzy glow of the telly.

TOP 10 MANHWAs

if anything good came out of 2020, it’s my discovery of manhwas.

well, it’s not like i’ve never read a single manhwa in the past 15+ years but tbh, the ratio of manhwa:manga i consume on a weekly basis has jumped exponentially this year. previously it was like 1:99 and now it’s like 90:10 LMAO.

so, just to remind myself that the world is still full of good things, i had to make this list. which i will probably edit in the future, if i can be bothered to. :)

anyhow, this list was not made in any particular order, just whichever came into mind. it’s loooong so be prepared! (I’ve read way more titles than mentioned but just included the ones worth checking out)

for whoever stumbles across this list, i hope some of these resonate with you and i hope they make you as happy as they made me.

1. Ebony

Bahahah omg he looks evil there! But our dearest archduke is hardly that aww. Soz, I just ripped off the covers of the manhwa cos I can’t find a panel I liked more than another. I mean, this manhwa is a GEM. I can’t even begin to describe this because everything about it blew me away. This is not something you read when you are craving for fluff, or just wanna have something brainless after a hard day at work or if you just wanna have some eye candy lol. This is something you pick up on a weekend, when you have time, because you need those hours to digest, appreciate, clutch your chest, tear a little because you find yourself falling in love with these characters. It doesn’t have any of that cliche isekai, romance, revenge themes going on. It has a solid plot, backed by incredible characters, beautifully woven by the authors and artist with incredible pacing that keeps you on your toes and keeps you looking forward to the next chapter. Maybe I would have been happier if I found it after it was completed lol. HAVE I CONVINCED YOU ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU WANNA READ IT?! like, idk, just go. JUST GO READ IT GDI.

p.s. it says there romance but naaaaaaah, dont go in with that expectation. :) this story is so much more than that.

2. Bring the love

This...this!!! THIS MANHWA NEEDS MORE LOVE. If you need a lot of fluff, a little, ok maybe quite a bit of sadness and tragedy, sweet sweet romance, cutie pies, please, look no further!!! Again, pacing, character development are so important to me and this manhwa aces it. I love the 2 MCs very much. And the side characters too. :)

3. A Stepmother's Märchen

When I first read this, i fucking cried. like please don’t ask me why. it’s not like its an absolute tragedy but I was just rooting for the MC so much and I really want for everything to go her way. That’s how much I adore this MC!!! I LOVE HER. I LOVE HER MORE THAN YOU DO NORA! HAHAHHA. okay soz. I need to keep this spoiler-free.

Anyhoo, there is nothing typical about this time travel plot. Sure, she goes back to try to undo the stuff that went wrong but phew, she certainly changed things so much everything that comes her way have made it so her previous experiences can hardly help aaaaaaand that’s what makes it fun! I sometimes wish the pacing could be a little more consistent, and there could be more characters I could love a little more wholeheartedly (so i wont have to be in so much despair when i read this sometimes lol) but omg the art, isn’t it pretty?! I’ve re-read this soooooo many times but the art blows me away all the time. And have I already mentioned how much I love her?! I LOVE YOU SHULI! AND I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY!

4. Lady Baby

I literally LOL-ed when I saw this cover. WHO THE HELL ARE THEY. WHAT LADY BABY?! ehehehe. okay anyway, uhm, this is already incredibly popular. im not sure if i need to elaborate but yes, it’s adorbs!!! i dont think i like the MC as much as i love her family lol. and everyone else who adores her. im looking forward to when they get older. :) actually not really. please stay cute for as long as yall can! but yeah, i do wish the plot can move a lil faster. i want to see more character development in the other kids too COME ON!

5. Death Is the Only Ending for the Villainess

am i allowed to reveal how shallow i am rn? like the previous choices were all like ‘wow-deep-plot’, ‘wow-character-development’ and this one i just included cos of AESTHETICS ALONE?! the novel covers are breathtaking!!! the manhwa art is amazing as well. and the harem is great! LOL. as for plot... uhm... it’s alright. it’s pretty engaging and i quite like the MC, she’s smart and independent and i love how she views them all antagonistically at all times HAHAHHA. her past is kinda... weird though and i do wish they’d stop referencing it. cos... girl why do you wanna go back to reality!!! stay here! it’s way more exciting!

i love the whole isekai/reincarnate/transmigration theme and this is honestly one of the better, not-so-cliche or cheesy ones HA.

6. Beware of the Villainess!

do you already see the whole villainess theme?! am i suppose to start feeling embarrassed about my choices?! NO! cos this one is AWESOME!

again, another wildly popular title. for good reasons. it’s hilarious, our MC is as real and candid as it gets and LOOK AT THAT BLUE HAIRED BEAUTY. DO YOU SEE HIM?! IMPLANT HIM INTO YOUR MEMORY NOW!

it’s highly entertaining and breaks all isekai-reincarnation-villainess plot stereotypes. definitely one of the titles i look forward to every week.

7. Who Made Me a Princess

what? why did i choose this?

BECAUSE OF CLAUDE OF COURSE. ahahaha. okay aside from the amaaaaaaazing art and the beautiful people, the plot is not too bad. a little extreme at times but it’s interesting enough to keep me going. it’s currently on hiatus though and i was highly annoyed by how the first season ended. (YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? NOTHING.)

i hope the plot can move faster in the next season! and that our dearest MC athanasia can you know, finally be a little more useful... like omg just tell lucas already!!! and tbh girl, no matter which guy you choose, i approve. :D

8. The Flower That Was Bloomed by a Cloud

i featured this before, mostly out of frustration HAHAHA. do you see why i chose this cover?! yeah, i support this (unpopular) pairing okay! the other one is doomed!!! no matter what the author is trying to do now!! I DONT SUPPORT IT!!! lol.

anyway, i had to feature this cos the art is unique! and the story is great. :) and i looooooove listening to the ost while i read it. it starts out kinda slow but as the pace picks up, you won’t be able to stop. and you find yourself conflicted at various points. it did win an award for a reason.

no matter what, i still think dowun is best for her okay. it’s dowun or nothing. he’s devoted to her, we all know that! he just needs to ditch that annoying female guard!!! ok yknw what, maybe nothing is better. :/ *cries*

9. Solo Leveling

why do i even bother? this manhwa is popular enough.

the art is great. the MC is great. i use him and his gang as my wallpaper.

im just not sure i like how this season’s plot is progressing. :/ but i guess it brings us nearer to solving the mystery in the first leg of the manhwa. i just enjoyed the whole part of him leveling up and now that he isn’t really leveling up anymore... idk. am i hoping for more plot shit like bleach (oh wow now u quincy?)... idk man. anywho, no regrets starting on this series and marathon-ing it to death.

cross fingers the plot picks up and doesnt get too complicated for its own good.

10. The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion

okay, tbh, by the time i reached 10, i still have like 15 other series i was considering LMAO. i even considered lengthening this top 10 to top 15. but that would just be more of me and my nonsense. so... why did i choose this?

COS I LOVE THE 2 MCs!!! they’re adorable. the plot is again, kinda far-fetched at times (i literally laugh my head off at some parts) but it’s isekai-reincarnation okay! anything is possible in whatever magical crap country you end up in! lol. and i like how straightforward it is... in the sense there’s no 2nd lead. like okay i mean they are there but we all know they have no chance. oops. sorry!

and cos i can’t give up on the other titles i have, imma just list them down, without pictures... cos im tired. HA.

11. Doctor Elise

Kudos to the huge improvement in art style lmao. The good... lovable MCs, engaging plot. The bad... sometimes lengthy, incredulous medical moments (i work in the medical field so i... idk. sometimes this borders on iryu LMAO and i need to remind myself this is romance) otherwise, this is a highly highly entertaining read.

12. Seduce the Villain's Father

It’s cute though. the MC and ML. and the ML reminds me so much of american/jap Mackenyu.

16. The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass

I HAD TO. the art is so pretty! but girl, dont use the hour glass so much! you look a little too old! i would appreciate it if MC stops basing too much of her moves on the “past” tho like idk you are gonna sound unoriginal soooooon like develop your own thoughts soon okay? <3

Lady to Queen - It’s a ruthless manhwa. There was a point i started reading all sorts of sadistic content (i was running out of content i swear) and this was one of the better ones. I appreciate the MC very much. the plot now is a little weird and im a bit wary of the MC’s sister... hopefully the ML can be more useful. he’s pitiful though. but dude come on, dont rely on the wrong gal.

Goodbye, In-law - I’m not sure if i like the current progress buuuuuuut MC and ML are cute so who cares.

The Duchess' 50 Tea Recipes - plot is still engaging. MC and ML are cute. i dont know where the plot is heading towards though.

A Falling Cohabitation - this is interesting and fun but a lil lengthy.

Light and Shadow - the sequel is out!!! i highly enjoyed this entire series!!! i would have probably ranked it a lil higher if i did this post earlier but too many series have overtaken this in my heart lol.

This Girl Is a Little Wild - is the hiatus ending yet? i would add it back to top 20 if it came back LOL. it’s highly entertaining tho. ML is adorable.

The Duchess With an Empty Soul - pretty nice. MC and ML are a little boring. i think it can end soon. LMAO.

*tilts head* Who says Shinra has to pick Celty over Izaya?

Honestly, this sentiment is a pet peeve of mine...

In a fandom where certain characters are allowed clearance of a fairly steep hurdle of unhealthy loathing order to fulfill a troublesome ship, it’s rather contradictory that others are denied the same leeway of canon divergence. Somehow unrequited love, obsession, and canon relationships are absolute; simply cannot develop into healthy love. Hatred, on the other hand, is incessantly defended; a mere step to the left in order to bask in the glory of love.

(And yes, to avoid unnecessary drama, I’ll address the obvious: I’m hinting at shizaya, though only using it as an example that works alongside defense. This article isn’t meant to bash, shame, or spit on the pairing. Moving on.)

It’s is a fandom travesty... That even though Izaya and Shizuo canonically loathe each other, shizaya is supported while relationships built around some semblance of friendship, respect, or camaraderie are denied believability—they too toe the love line, so what’s up there? It’s disheartening that a chunk of our fandom that expresses their appreciation, curiousity, or desire to support izashin are under the impression that Izaya is doomed to unrequited pining. That Shinra’s obsession with Celty accepts no workaround. Shincelty is unsinkable, while izashin is the Titanic to which a Celty shaped iceberg will inevitably sink it. This unfortunate misunderstanding stands in the way of mutual love between Izaya and Shinra, and it’s perplexing, to say the least.

Let me present truths of real-life relationship that can validate any and all pairings; yes, ALL pairings!! ★ Over the course of one’s lifetime, most will fancy more than just one person. I know, it’s shocking within the realm of fiction. I too was baffled not really, but humour me. Feelings can dissipate, stronger emotions can replace anything that came before it, and people have been known to grow apart with time. ☆ Love can fade even from established relationships—platonic, casual, and committed; lifetime partnerships and marriage, it doesn’t matter. Thus is the way of humans. Emotions are irrational, the mind evolves with gained experience and knowledge; matured ideals, viewpoints, and morals can diminish attraction. It’s normal. ★ Fixation and obsession are hardly absolute. This is specifically true for Shinra (and Namie, while we’re at it). If formed within one’s youth, an obsession will define what the psyche believes to be a reality. It’s normal—it won’t budge without cognitive therapy or dissuasion. Though, it’s not impossible; it can be replaced with something healthier, not just shift an unhealthy obsession to another person.

☆ It’s called AUs, my buddy. There are a myriad AUs for shizaya; why not izashin and other rare pairs in kind? Make it so, my fellow fans! Though I will point out, this brings to light a frustrating point that izashin can only work within an AU. BLASPHEMY!! There are canon divergences and adjacent paths where my beloved, playful and snarky, intellectually driven ship can work just the same as other fanon and canon pairings or more so, in my opinion, eheheh. ('∇' ;)ゞ ...where was I? Ah, right! Shinra has to pick Celty over Izaya.

I’m a firm believer that a slight change in canon history could’ve shifted Shinra’s loyalty to Izaya, while his love for Celty could still persist. How hard is it to believe that people can love more than one person at a time in varying forms? In some sense, Celty grew up alongside Shinra, as our favourite dullahan lost her memories and had to discover her personality, just Shinra matured his own over the years. Perhaps they could’ve shared a sibling-esque relationship. Maybe Celty could see herself as a parental figure for a motherless Shinra.

At any rate, In a series that explores multiple forms of love, it seems like a no brainer that there are more ways to which canon relationships could’ve gone. Ahahaha.

So there you have it. Izashin/shinzaya isn’t doomed from the start, thank you very much.

Perhaps my answer should’ve been more of a testament for izashin validity; an evidence-based argument for how they can work sans unrequited love and unyielding obsession. A beautifully crafted love letter, a vivid and colourful trip through the fields of what I hold near and dear to my heart. A diehard proclamation, firm and cutthroat defense with upholding evidence, and furthermore without objection! Though, I do believe if I didn’t address this persistent issue within the fandom beforehand, it wouldn’t bear as much weight and would ultimately fall through. I’ll save that starry-eyed gush for a later post because Shinra and Izaya—my boys—deserve an article of top tier quality separate of unfair pitfalls. ♡ (´▽`ʃƪ)

For now, let’s spread the notion that within the world of fanon, canon doesn’t have to be upheld; just as other pairings can be analysed and their place within the canon sandbox can be explained, so can others. *drops mic* Demy out! ♡

brain is sort of empty after talking about warrior cats for so long but i will use this as an opportunity to talk about MORE WARRIOR CATS!!!!! i contain multitudes

tbh while i am on the topic of clear sky and gray wing and dotc in General like....the way the fandom is obsessed w gray wing doesnt make sense to me he is So boring !!!

no offense to gray wing stannies but yall.......reading lionblazes pov is more interesting than gray wing and lionblaze is like the Fandom Boring Guy. i cannot sit there and read like 20 chapters of gray wing being a dick to his girlfriend(s) and it being treated like hes just Normal and Good like its so frustrating!!!

and ok i know im biased bc clear sky Is like. in my top 3 fave characters of this series and maybe of all time. but to me he is honestly just so much more interesting to read about/to read his pov chapters. and this isn't to say that clear sky is a good guy or i think anything he did was correct!! (since the wc fandom has a really bad issue with thinking that if u like a certain character u support all their actions hdsbfhdsfbhds)

but he's so much more complex than gray wing!! the way his early life trauma affects the way he acts when the group reaches the forest territories!! the way he doesn't want to connect with thunder because he's scared of failing as a father!! but his inability to see he is already BEING a shitty father!!!!!!!

the way he has utterly convinced himself he's doing the best he can for everyone around him when he is literally just hurting them!!!!! he is so awful and sucks so much but god i fucking love it! reading his descent into paranoia and anger from his anxiety honestly feels like some of the best writing in the series!

he's just got so much more depth than gray wing does and his actions are so much more interesting to read about. the only thing i don't really care for is his redemption arc? because it feels like it's taking all of his mental illness and shit and wrapping it in a neat little bow of "oh gray wing fixed his brother so he's nice now!" this is not how illness works and it is an instant reminder that the authors are not as good as i think they are!!!

i do think it's realistic that his paranoia and anxiety would have let off a little bit after being forgiven and seeing fluttering bird and storm in starclan etc etc but like. he's not gonna just.......stop being mentally ill...........and also stop being traumatized by fluttering bird and bright stream's deaths ...........

anyways gray wing is the epitome of "i like him because hes nice i guess" and clear sky is the epitome of "i want to psychoanalyze him and put him in a jar and study him like a little insect. he has so many issues and im going to find all of them" but warriors fans do love protagonists that are boring as shit so i cant blame them for loving gray wing<3

Alright, now that my bf is done being adorably sappy and the laptop is back in my control... Time to write a thing I’ve always wanted to write, as a closing out for Wrench’s birthday. (Not finished with the arts, so I’ll post them late~)

The rant I’ve wanted to do about Wrench. Some things about why I love him so much and how much it means to me that I’ve found him. So! Without further delay, let’s get into it...

Wrench came at a perfect time for me. When I first saw a gif of him, it was me still riding out some seriously shitty times. Without getting into the specifics, I felt used, betrayed, mad at myself, and worst of all, my ex-fiance’s current gf left hate on one of my Instagram pictures. 2 years, we’d been separated! 6 years of my life, stolen from me, and I was still being haunted by the guy. It was unbelievable and things were at the lowest point they possibly could be.

...Then Wrench showed up. A guy in a mask- just like a few of my other faves!- and I got curious. Gotta love those curious types...and maybe I could find another series to get into. I really had nothing else to lose, so.... Why not invest my energy into Watch_Dogs 2?

I don’t even remember when exactly he got me. There I was, watching a compilation of his moments from the game...and I really started to like him. His dorky character, the way he was unapologetically nasty... Just another guy existing and hiding his face, you know how it is.

Then I got to see his face. Without the mask and... I was honestly blown away. Under that mask wasn’t some “overly ugly” guy or even “handsome anime guy”.... Just...a guy. Big nose, stormy-ocean eyes, thin lips, and a birthmark on the side of his head. An average guy.

....You know what? I fell in love with that. I still fell even harder for that insecure guy under it. The one who uses his “usual” brash, loud, out-there and snarky personality more as a cover-up for who he really is... Just another guy, who’s been pushed around too much, is sensitive about what’s underneath, and wears a literal mask to cover it all up.

I love...literally everything about him. I know we’d probably knock heads sometimes over stupid shit; he gets mad, I’d get worked up, and we’d likely end in a yelling match that ends up with me crying cause I can’t handle it when people yell and I also can’t be angry without crying.

But even for moments like that, I know we wouldn’t be able to stay mad at each other. We’d talk about things. We’re both not too good at our true emotions and there’s issues we still don’t know how to handle. I don’t like my appearance a lot and he can’t look at his own face.

....We love each other for that, though. He’d remind me how much he loves all of me, even on my worst days. I’d kiss the edges of his birthmark and remind him that I love his face. All of it. That I’d never want him to hide from me... If he wouldn’t let me hide away from him, then I don’t want him to do the same to me.

I guess it’s...the realism of us that’s drawn me in and kept me here. What I imagine between us? It’s real. I can go to San Francisco and imagine I’m waiting up for the crew. I know we’d fight, but we’d still love each other and try to do better because of it. Wrench may be covering up, but I do it, too; we can be ourselves together. I can support him in what he does and- for me- he can protect me from the things I’m not strong enough to do on my own. And in that way, I learn from him how to stand up for myself and not get pushed around anymore.

From Wrench, he teaches me how I can look out and care for myself more.

...There’s other things I can say, but.... I’m left sappy after this and don’t really want to ruin that. Maybe will post on my NSFW blog, as an honor for him; an extra little treat he doesn’t need spoiling with, ehehehe~

.......Ahhhh, yeah, though... He means everything to me. He came into my life at the perfect time, saved me, and has since been making me stronger merely by the fact of existing in my life.

And I wouldn’t want to have that any other way.

A Writer’s Tag Game

1. How many WIPs (Works in Progress) do you have?

Depends on what you’d define a work in progress as. I absolutely have some different concepts and characters roaming around but the one thing that I’ve had a steady interest in is my comic, Nightshade Inc. I REALLY want to tell you all about it but there’s a lot of twists and turns that I absolutely cannot spoil. But I will certainly introduce the characters at some point soon.

2. Do/would you write fanfiction?

Ehehehe no. Though I appreciate that some people can write excellent spin-offs, I feel like I would take away from the original story or characters if I did it personally.

3. Do you prefer paper books or e-books?

While I may use e-books for writing papers or studying, I LOVE paper books. Get me a nice paperback book, some tea and some biscuits and I will be immersed all day. There’s nothing like wandering in an old bookstore, too. The scent of the books, the old worn pages... there’s just something very enchanting about it all. Currently I’m reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers and it’s fantastic so far.

5. Do you have someone you trust to share your work with?

@homesteadhorner - This is actually his writing blog, which I HIGHLY suggest you follow. Jake is the absolute coolest and we’ve been best friends for 10+ years now. I’ve made the poor mistake of sharing my work with the wrong people, but there’s nothing more inspiring and supporting that comes from a brainstorming session with him. His attention to detail is unlike any other, and his passion for writing will ignite something in you, I’m sure.

6. Where is your favorite place to write?

The shore. Hands down. There’s a very particular area that’s very special to me - it’s quiet and gorgeous and has a lovely lighthouse. Sometimes I just get so distracted by all of the beauty (because I feel like I’m in a Wes Anderson film or something) that I have to go to the nearby coffee shop (which is my FAVORITE) and that’s a place where I can focus peacefully.

7. Favorite childhood book?

I was so ready to say A Series of Unfortunate Events. So, so ready. That’s still my favorite book series from my childhood, but my favorite book is called Miss Rumphius, otherwise known as the Lupine Lady. It’s so nostalgic and sentimental to me, and actually reminds me of my favorite writing spot, too.

*Also, there’s a couple of images I have from books that I read when I was younger in my head that are so gorgeous and memorable and for the life of me, I have NO idea what they’re from.

8. Writing for fun or for publication?

Give me both and I’ve got myself a dream job.

9. Have you taken any writing classes?

Not anything officially outside of what I did in high school. I remember how much I appreciated creative writing as an elective though. The teacher was a little nuts, but on the good scale of nuts. I didn’t feel like I had to hold back from my poetry or anything, even if it was misunderstood by most of my classmates. I would love, love, love to be a creative writing teacher one day.

10. What inspired you to write?

I can’t live without it. It’s probably how I best express myself. Poetry is maybe my favorite form because it paints such vivid, colorful pictures in a verbal setting. I have really struggled to express my thoughts, ideas, and interpretations in the past just by outright saying them so I always seem to turn to metaphors. It can be quite a burden to want so badly to explain your ideas to people but they act like you’re speaking Chinese. Writing helps others to see, feel, sense whatever I want to covey in words. And those words have the power to inspire, to encourage, to reach, and to heal.

Plus, there’s this strange, innate ability to rhyme somewhere inside of me and I can’t be a rapper.

On Feb. 1, the official Chiyomaru Studio twitter tweeted a series of birthday messages for Mayuri from various characters. Just for fun, I decided to translate them.

It’s Steins;Gate 0 verse, but there aren’t really any spoilers.

Mayuri: "Tutturu~♪ Mayushii here. It's already February this year~. And today is Mayushii's birthday! I'd be happy if you celebrated it!"

Mayuri "Oh, I got a birthday message from Okarin! He says in the evening, after school, he's holding a birthday party for me. I'm excited (*´∀｀) So excited I might not be able to sleep tonight~♪"

Mayuri: "Tutturu~ ♪ Good morning ♪ When I woke up this morning, I had gotten a lot of birthday messages from my friends. I'm so lucky. Eheheh (*´∀｀)"

Mayuri: "About all the lovely birthday messages my friends sent me... when I asked them, they said it would be okay if I shared them with you. So I'll present them in order ♪ First, from Okarin."

Okarin: "Happy birthday, Mayuri. It's great to be able to celebrate your birthday like this. I'm always causing trouble for you, so in thanks and congratulations, I'd like to gather everyone for the first time in a while and hold a birthday party. You can invite whatever friends you want."

Mayuri "Thanks, Okarin. Okarin has become very much like a college student lately. He's gotten good at planning things like this, too~. I decided to accept his offer and have a party ♪"

Feris-chan: "Mayushii! Happy birthday nya! Everyone at MayQueen Nyan² wanted to celebrate, too, so we decided to have a Mayushii birthday event at the shop in the near future, so be ready for that nyan ♪ =゜ｗ゜="

Mayuri: "Eheheh, Feris-chan really is great at building excitement. How surprising that they would have an event at the shop like that. It’s a little embarrassing, but I'll do my best as Mayushii NyanNyan! Yeah!"

Mayuri: "Luka-kun is such a nice boy. Mayushii definitely wants to get him to cosplay this year. Oh, and I need to go hang out at Yanabayashi Shrine sometime soon. There are a lot of stray cats there, so it's really soothing ♪"

Mayuri: “I also got birthday messages from my cosplay friends who always wear my costumes. The three of them are so cute, Mayushii is happy she gets to make their costumes ♪"

Yuki-san: "Happy birthday Mayuri-chan ☆ I'm bringing my special pumpkin pie to today's party! I just finished baking it. I'm confident about it, so look forward to it ☆"

Kaede-san: "Happy birthday, Mayuri-chan. I'm really grateful to you for always making us such lovely costumes ♪ Oh yeah, maybe Yuki-san, Fubuki-chan, and I should cosplay somehow for today's party? Why don't you join us? (lol)"

Suzu-san: "Happy birthday, Mayu-neesan. It's really nice to be able to celebrate someone's birthday like this. I want to protect this sort of everyday life no matter what. Mayu-neesan, please continue to support Uncle Okarin. I'm counting on you."

Daru-kun: "Happy birthday, Mayu-shi. By the way, in an eroge I've gotten into recently, there's this sexy-cute character in bikini armor, and she looks a lot like you! So could you maybe cosplay as her a little? I'll pay the full cost of the costume materials."

Mayuri: "Daru-kun is a pervert, as usual ♪ Don't blame me if Suzu-san gets mad at you! Oh, I know! If it's bikini armor, then maybe he could ask Yuki-san, because she has a great figure ♪ I think it would look great on her. I'm feeling inspired!"

Mayuri: "Well, school's over, so I need to go to the Lab! Maybe I should buy a lot of Juicy Kara-age Number Ones on the way there ♪ Ah, but that would be hard on my wallet, so maybe I'll just buy bananas instead (´・ω・`)"

Mayuri: "We're holding Mayushii's birthday party now~. Everyone got together for Mayushii's sake. Thank you."

Mayuri: "I just heard from Okarin that there's actually one more guest who wants congratulate Mayushii. I wonder who it is? My heart is racing."

Amadeus: "Hello, Mayuri-san. Nice to meet you. I'm sorry for startling you. I'm Amadeus, an AI with the memories of Makise Kurisu. Okabe-san was against it, but I got him to introduce you to me."

Amadeus: "Happy birthday, Mayuri-san. When you saw me just now, you said that you felt we had met before. I generally don't believe in human sixth sense type things like that, but... thanks. It made me happy."
