mikaele salesa is such an icon, i love his character and how he's voiced, and his conversation here with jon and martin is great. Martin defaulting to being the polite guest, smoothing over interactions with Salesa so he readily tells his story, Jon continually only asking questions, Salesa teasing him, it's all 👌. I wish we'd gotten to hear more of him... For the story it makes sense that we didn't, but he's just so fun to listen to @a-mag-a-day

jon, used to being able to use his powers even unconsciously from practically the beginning and vibrating internally about finally being able to find out how salesa escaped being swept up in the nightmarepocalypse, what this oasis is, and what hes doing with annabelle: tell me what happened
salesa, whos known about the powers of the eye since gertrude used it to stop him committing fraud that one time and knows perfectly well hes going to give the monologue hes been rehearsing for 6 years but has also been patiently waiting 71 hours for his next Dramatic Moment: no ❤

this was funnier in my head
[ID: A two-panel comic of Mikaele Salesa and Martin Blackwood. In the first panel, Mikaele smiles thoughtfully and says, “now you mention it, you actually remind me of Jurgen a bit-” In the second panel, Martin has a hand up and a nervous expression and says, “ah, uh-” as Mikaele says, “in his younger days, of course,” from off-screen. In front of Martin’s face are several transparent screenshots from the video “i fucking hate jurgen leitner” /End ID]
(Martin panel minus screenshots under the cut)

Thinking about the theoretical circumstances where Martin stayed back at Upton. Jon leaves, but he doesn't forget about Martin, no. He remembers Martin, he remembers they were traveling together, but he doesn't know exactly where and how they separated. All the Eye tells him is that Martin chose to leave Jon behind and now, he's all alone.

Can’t believe Mikaele hyped Martin up and said that he liked him and then immediately destroyed him by comparing him to Leitner of all people

Can we appreciate that jon is (usually) the all powerful eldritch demigod but he's the one repeatedly having to hold martin back
like it's such a great subversion of the usual trope. instead of martin being all "jon. this isn't you. don't go full rage mode. don't hurt them" it's jon just being like “no we are not going kill bill. no martin do not punch the terrifying spider woman.”

Obviously, the main focus (aha) of MAG194 is Jon/Martin and Hill Top Road, but a moment that struck me was Jon Seeing that Salesa is dead. More specifically, he Saw Upton House now that Annabelle and the camera are gone. He couldn't remember any of their time in MAG180-181 at Upton House, their break from the Eyepocalypse. But with the camera gone Jon can See where he and Martin shared their last somewhat-happy times.
Only now when he thinks of Upton House he won't think of the blur that was their respite, he'll think of Mikaele Salesa, dead. Jon doesn't even get to keep his peaceful ignorance
