((it has been a real long time since I did one of these!! Hopefully I can continue it at least until episode 40))

Comic one: In the first panel, a figure wearing a long coat and wide-brimmed hat that obscures his eyes from vision, talks to Albrecht von Closen, a man wearing a scarf and a winter coat, poised to take something out of his satchel. The figure gestures to a building behind them and says "That crypt you seek is a very dangerous place." The next panel is a close up of the figures face as Albrecht says offscreen "What have I to fear from the dead?" The figure seems slightly shocked from this response. But in the next panel, he laughs and pulls his hat even lower. In the last panel an ominous, dark vignette halos the figures front facing face as he says with a wide, menacing grin, "No, sir. You've nothing to fear from the dead." Where the last word is underlined for emphasis. Under the comic is written "mag 23".

Comic two: In the first panel Jonathan Sims, a rectangle glasses wearing man with short messy hair and a moustache, is seated in a chair behind his desk. He has an angry expression on and a dark blue aura around him. He yells at Martin, a fat man with round glasses, curly hair, and arm hair. He says "Good Lord man, at least have the decency to wear trousers!!" in a green speech bubble. To which an awkward Martin, standing in the doorway to his office, says in a blue speech bubble, "sorry." The second panel is a close up of Martin's face from the bust up. We can see his red face and beads of sweat run down his skin. He is smiling awkwardly. Green and blue empty speech bubbles around him suggest he is still speaking with Jon. Behind him is screaming text suggesting his internal monologue being in turmoil currently. The top left corner reads "later." The artist would like it to be known that they forgot to exclude that from the drawing and it's not meant to be there. At the bottom some boxes text reads "Martin will be thinking about this interaction for the rest of his life." Under the comic is written "bonus mag 23"

Jonah seeing the wonders of this new world and getting increasingly involved in it, probably getting in some heated theoretical debates with Rayner et al. about it because, being Beholding- and Dark-aligned, their fundamental views would be diametrically opposed

A slowly-shifting musical motif for Jonah as his intentions develop over the course of the play

Barnabas pleading with Jonah through his letter; they’re in separate parts of the stage with different lightings and they can’t see each other. Jonah is reading, rather than listening to, his words

SPOTLIGHTS REMINISCENT OF EYES

Harrowing solo as Jonah sinks deeper into fearing the possibility of rituals

More below the cut because I’m going nuts about this.

I would feel like there’s too much ground to cover (c. 1809 [estimated year Jonah gets introduced to the Fears if he established the Institute in 1818 and talked Smirke into working on Millbank 1815-1821] all the way to 1867 [year of Smirke’s death and the final decommissioning of Millbank: the year in which I place Jonah’s first attempt at the Watcher’s Crown]) if it weren’t for the several decades covered in Hamilton. It provides a pretty good guide for such a varied timeline.

More insane scenes:

Contrast of Albrecht Von Closen’s 1816 letter informing Jonah of his findings at his nephew’s estate vs Dr. Johnathan Fanshawe’s 1831 letter revealing how Jonah knowingly caused Von Closen’s death by stealing his books and got him filled with eyes

Smirke watching the group he formed fall to the Fears in turn, clinging to his alliance with Jonah and therefore being blind to his own turn towards Beholding

Jonah’s financial wheedling with Mordechai Lukas and other donors for his fledgling Institute

Jonah being so gleeful about his brand new Magnus Institute in Edinburgh, after several years of compiling statements informally

Another thing is that, unless Gertrude is Erics mom, (which i doubt) there is no way for Gertrude to be Gerrys bio grandmother because we know Mary's family history, she's a VanClosen Jon explains it to us in Mag23!

This reinforces my idea that SOMETHING IS WRONG.

Some other odd stuff with the two Württemberg eps of TMA, if you're not aware of it already (apologies if I'm just telling you stuff you already know!):

-The date on the letter in TMAGP 4 is only a couple days off from the date on the letter in MAG 127 telling Jonah how Albrecht died. How Albrecht died seems awfully similar to what we know about RedCanary's fate, especially if we reinterpret the question "Are those eyes?" to mean not "oh god, something gouged his eyes out," as many people have taken it, but "oh god, there are eyes growing in places where eyes should very much not be."

-In MAG23 there's a brief mention of a Becker family living nearby--they were the ones that the one kid went to live with after his mother went down into the tomb and was never seen again. That one might be just an unfortunate casualty of Jonny Sims Naming Syndrome, but in conjunction with the date and location of TMAGP 4 seeming to point back to these episodes, it might not.

-The year on the coin that Albrecht found in Johann's tomb in MAG23 was 1279, which, again perhaps coincidentally, was the year before the death of Albertus Magnus.

I'd twigged the the becker/becher and albertus death date things, but OH that first point... the dots are connecting... what does it all m e a n . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ...

I spent like four hours working my way through storage to find my old ag clothes and accessories (I hadn't unpacked them since I moved... 5 years ago) AND I FOUND THEM!! of course they were in the last possible place I had yet to look but it was 100% worth it because look at my girls!! The clothes are a mix of ag with a couple our generation bits and pieces, OH ! also a build a bear hoodie that I had to safety pin smaller at the back lol.

THE GIRLS!

From left to right:

Saige! She's wearing the black meet dress that tm122 came in with Kits jumper over the top (I don't have kit but when I was little my mum loved her meet outfit so much she bought it off ebay for me for christmas). She's also in her meet outfit boots, with a bracelet and headband from one of the 2013 holiday dress outfits/accessories!

June (truly me 122)! She's wearing an our generation plain white tshirt and denim jacket, along with the shorts and headband from the coconut fun outfit. Her boots are from my mag23's meet outfit.

Noah (my american girl 23)! She's wearing the coconut fun grey leggings, her original meet outfits pink butterfly top underneath the grey build a bear hoodie. Her shoes are the sneakers from June's meet outfit! I've also added a couple of cute flower clips in her hair but you can't see them in this pic.

It's so good to get them all out of the outfits they've been stuck in for so long! I think they look adorable and their fits to me really bring out the vibes I imagine their personalities to have!

been relistening the magnus archives while i draw, and in mag23 when martin shows up (apparently) not wearing pants jon says something like "god, man, go dress" and he sounds so unnatural as he says that

also unrelated note but i love how he keeps referencing made up academic books. freaks and followers: circuses in the 1940s? grim tales: exploration of unexplained and macabre deaths in the xix century?? they sound so legit, that is exactly how some real-world books and articles are named. i'd actually read the second one. sadly, not a real thing, according to google scholar
