the number one most interesting analysis anyone ever made about the legend of korra is that the benders in republic city were clearly an oppressed and exploited population. Yeah and so the movie was 75% finished before it was completely shut down. What a loss to the community, and I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must've been for Nate and all the people working on it. Nimona (2023), later picked up and adapted by Netflix, is a phoenix risen from the ashes and it had to fight to be here despite the book's (and She-ra's!) prior success.

important HC to my portrayal:

childe experiences an undiagnosed dissociative disorder. 

the three names he has are ones he ties to his three main ‘identities’ in his system. his three ‘identities’ are distinct in memory, and they experience memory gaps when they switch. childe is not aware of the other two, but they are aware of him. more under the cut.

childe : the host, dominant personality that’s most frequently in control. if you are speaking, 9/10 times it’s this one. the friendly, ‘people person’ one. childe as he usually is in the game, not much else to say.

tartaglia : a more protector archetype, but not strictly that. most often comes out during times he’s using his delusion for too long or bringing out foul legacy transformation, in an attempt to ‘protect’ the others from the extreme stress this puts on their body and mind. less upbeat than childe, but mostly the same in demeanor. i fully interpret his actions during the fontaine trial to be tartaglia rather than childe.

ajax : the ‘trauma holder’. in their mind, he’s more similar to teucer, as he’s tied to the identity they had before the trauma in the abyss happened. slightly younger than the other two, more of a childlike personality. almost never comes to the front unless his family are around.

it’s blatantly clear that the IL gov in no way cares about their own citizens and certainly less Jews as a whole but the total proportion of my generation of young Jews in the entire world literally being suited up for cannon fodder right now makes me ill. As much as both antisemites and the government of IL want to cast themselves as a global superpower and the strongest army on earth they are not, they’re still a relatively very small middle eastern country that’s part of a very very small ethnic group and going to war right now has a mass potential to seriously cut into our total population in ways that will impact us for a long long time. They are not the US. Proportionally this cannot be like the Vietnam war or the Iraq war. Like I’ve grown up with the Charedim being given a blank slate cause Jewish babies all my life and now we’re willing to throw a mass number of 18-40 year old Jews into the fire before they ever have a chance to become parents and there’s really nothing less in the interest of l’dor v’dor. As a diaspora Jew with a community in many ways more tied to IL than the US I’ve gotten the full guilt trip about not having to go get drafted in this war and I don’t support it in any way, but there’s still that deep feeling of maybe my future wife will die in this war. Maybe my future best friend or chavrusa will die in this war. Maybe the future father of my children will die in this war and I’ll never have my children. If we keep walking on to hell this may echo down the generations.

#People from countries without a draft can’t get the systemic horror of the draft #Nor U.S. Americans in the core like.
