I think it’s unlikely that Patrick and Gabriel were each other’s dates to the Golden Globes but they sure did the red carpet photo op together.
Tumblr media
I just think this is a very important image.

dissecting Suits (Mike x Harvey)
OK, what if the whole show is from Harvey's POV?
Consider it (aside from the scenes he obviously would know nothing about). It starts with Jessica running the firm. She (his mentor/adopted mom/weirdly teasing bestie) is powerful & does what she wants (so he emulates her). When she, then Mike, leaves, the show's tone becomes more grim. Suddenly, every other episode ends with Harvey having a sad drink. Louis (as well as Harvey) goes from rebellious & rude to kind & mature as the show continues. Additionally, the women in the firm go from competent & smart to flawed &...just generally making social/occupational mistakes; this isn't Harvey thinking they're stupid because he has healthier platonic relationships with women than with men--it means HE'S REALIZING HE'S IN LOVE WITH MIKE.
This is evident as Mike himself goes from fairly easygoing to naive to self-sacrificing to a decent lawyer. In other words, he emulates Harvey, which earns Mike Harvey's respect. We all see the interactions between the two of them, many of which mimic the traditional heterosexual banter between a male lead & their female love interest. It's made clear through Donna & Scottie that Harvey's attracted to that shit, so once he finally reconciles his past trauma (related to what made him ultimately deny himself a healthy romance), he's able to accept his bisexuality & that he loves Mike Ross. However, at this point, Mike is gone & married, living the kind of life that Harvey always wanted (not in that Mike is rich, but that he feels successful & is in love). So Harvey takes what he can get with Donna, his last decent love interest (he might also do this because he feels guilty about stringing her along for the past 12 years).
I haven't seen the last episode yet, but I know what will happen. It'll have some happy scene at Harvey & Donna's wedding where Mike (yeah & Rachel) are there. Harvey's happy because the guy he loves who left, came back, if only for a little while. & gods know how bad his abandonment issues are (me too).
Also: Mike is the Patroclus to Harvey's Achilles, Donna's Briseis & Rachel's Deidamia. Just sayin'. (Or fuck, maybe Harvey's Odysseus to Donna's Penelope.)
Another also: that "I've only had this dog for five seconds" is basically Marvey, but change to "I've only had this assistant for 2 days & I'd totally fuck him I mean I'm in love with him I mean I'd do time for him"

big big marvey fic rec list
Tumblr media
marvey is currently my most bookmarked ship, so trust me when i say i've been around the bend for marvey content. i have dug through a lot of it the past few months, so trust that these fics have been highly rated!
fics are loosely grouped, with the summary and my thoughts under the cut :3 no spoilers ofc bc i love you
MY PERSONAL FAVOURITES
A Specter-Ross Affair by @frivoloussuits (15k+, au)
“You ordered an ‘extra-hot, extra-wet cappuccino, single-origin, properly layered, to-go and ready five minutes ago to make up for your service speed or lack thereof.’” In which Mike is a barista, Rachel is a lawyer, and Harvey is paid excessive amounts of money to plan their joyous Christmas wedding.
"Love is just a particularly socially accepted form of fraud. It's a series of increasingly complex and fragile deceptions between two or more people, and, more alarmingly, between each participant and their own deluded subconscious."
i literally cannot recommend this fic enough. this might be my favourite read of the entire year, dead serious. this sounds fluffy but trust me, the pining and the angst go well like salt on a chocolate chip cookie: extremely decadent. everything about this fic goes insane and this should be your gateway drug into marvey, im so serious about this. READ IT. (weddingplanner!harvey)
of all the gin joints by @frivoloussuits (10k+, au)
Hanging around a neighborhood bar one night, Harvey befriends a guy named Mike after realizing they can both quote The Princess Bride on demand. In the law offices of Rand, Kaldor, Zane and Pearson, senior partner Harvey Specter takes on an unusual case, representing his managing partner's daughter as she divorces a Michael James Ross. Harvey sees no connection until it's far too late.
"They’re playing a virtuosic duet with inhuman ease, as if the intoxication has broken their boundaries and blurred them into a single entity."
this. obsessed with fics that really use the law in their plots, and this is a prime example. a lot of chemistry in this one that is described in a way that makes you jealous of the bond they share and there are still lines in this fic that i think about almost everyday but honestly, such a top-tier read. PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU LIKE SUFFERING ANF REALLY REALLY GOOD CHEMISTRY PLEASE
5U175 by Closer (26k, canon-adjacent)
Harvey sometimes moonlights as a Star Trek BNF. Mike might have an attitude problem on the internet. TiberiusGhost is strangely compelling, for a recluse who never goes to meetups, and Harvey's finding this kid Photohead vaguely familiar…
i know that the terminology in this one is hella old-school but trust me. as someone who doesnt read a lot of fandom fics, this fic has changed it all for me (also bc the author replied to my comment hehehe) stick with this fic because the way fandom weaves with the character development is absolutely delicious, i remember saying this in my og comment but this fic was written with love for fandom and you should definitely read it too!!! you'd absolutely love it! (also ben stans rise up ^^)
fics to sink your teeth into (20k+)
needs must by @melthemagpie (98k+, au)
When Grammy needs an upgrade in care, Mike knows that the usual one-off gig as a paid submissive won't be enough. He takes a job he's been refusing for a while - a long-term, full-time contract. He expects his client to be a sadistic asshole. He expects not to like it. He's wrong on both counts.
this is a fandom classic, every fic rec has this on the list (cw for dom/sub and prostitution, so if you're uncomfy please dont read) but i swear there are so many romantic moments in this one that make me swoon and the smut is very good, i usually tap out in long fics really quickly but this hooked me the whole way through twice. thats my ringing endorsement, READ THIS
Lobster and Other Catastrophes by @andthetardis (21k, canon-compliant)
After months of silence, Mike starts texting Harvey again out of the blue. Funny thing to do on his honeymoon, really.
BRO PLEASE. this was so good. angsty and pining-y enough even though it's mostly a text fic. text fics to me are more like comedic, but this one had substance and heart (and funny and enjoyable btw). pulls you in and really makes you want to stick it out and get to the beautiful ending <333 (harvey being soft is probably a category on its own :3)
The Game by @frivoloussuits (27k, hunger games au)
Harvey Specter and Donna Paulsen are efficient and elegant killers. They have trained since childhood, mentored personally by Jessica Pearson and marked for years as District 1's Tributes for the Hunger Games. Mike Ross is an orphan from District 12, a drug dealer, and an underage gambler. After years of scrutinizing the Hunger Games on TV to make savvy bets, he finds himself on the wrong side of the camera, now playing the odds just to survive. Harvey and Mike cannot, should not trust each other. Still, they strike a backroom deal.
"Because he’s clever and quick-thinking and he’s learned her main lesson well– don’t love anyone you wouldn’t be willing to see dead. Ideally, don’t love anyone at all."
I READ THIS WHEN I WAS REVISITING HUNGER GAMES AND OHHHHH THIS HAS THE ANGST. absolutely riveting. ths is the third fic im reccing from them bc i love frivoloussuits. i would die for them HHFSHFHKSDGDHFG i love the angst and the life-threatening situations that the hunger games provide and harvey as a career is correct. its just correct. everything here grips my soul
Disaster Stories by agatestones (22k, canon-compliant)
"Hold on," Mike asked, "you made Donna come into work in the middle of a blizzard?" "I don't make Donna do anything. Haven't you learned by now?" Harvey gave Mike a mean little smile, but under that was relief for anyone to see. "You, I can make come into the office in a blizzard."
reads like a novella to me, and it's really good!!! very episodic and you really feel like these are things that have happened in universe. its very slice of lifey and i reread it a lot as a comfort read, its like a big hug to me
Pizza and a Movie by Closer (30k+, au)
In an alternate universe, Harvey's still a lawyer but Mike's not a pot runner -- he's a deliveryman for Rollo's Pizza and Ribs, which happens to be Harvey's favorite pizza place. Once Harvey finds out his pizza guy is a genius, Mike's life takes a few turns he would not have expected...
i swear this is the most rom-commy fic marvey has to offer. i like aus that slap me in the face more with the alternate universe, but this is such a rom-com plot. fandom classic as well and it really reads like a hugh grant 90s movie and if thats not enough to pull you in idk what will tbh
Imprimatur by Closer (22k, au)
Mike was raised to believe Imprint was a life-changing event for those few lucky enough to experience it. Harvey was raised to believe it was a form of mental illness. When it actually happened, neither of them noticed.
this goes absolutely crazy. one of those fics where you read it and you almost want to throw your phone at the wall because the characters could make it so easy if they werent so stupid (but in a good way of course) but the way it was written, you feel the depth of the soulmate bond and why its so important (which a lot of soulmate aus forget to do loll) but goes down like an expensive and delicious dinner :)
afternoon reads (10k+)
Sony SRF-39FP by @frivoloussuits (11k+, canon-adjacent)
Anita Gibbs won’t settle for Mike, not when there are name partners within her reach. She offers only one deal– two years, no other charges against anyone else in the firm, as long as Harvey Specter turns himself in. And even as Donna and Jessica and Louis and Mike beg him not to, he jumps on the grenade. “Time to get busy living or get busy dying,” he remarks, and Mike gives a small chuckle. Then Harvey smirks, straightens his suit jacket, and strides into FCI Danbury.
“I can’t believe they’re trying to lock you in a box and forget about you,” Mike sighs as he leaves.
“Well, as long as you don’t forget me, I figure I’ll survive.”
“Maybe you haven’t noticed, but forgetting’s never been my strong suit.
cw for depersonalization and desc of solitary confinement, very very heavy but the way mike is there throughout everything makes my heart twinge. i really dont know how to describe this fic at all but its really good. it makes me cry a lot. also made me start listening to jazz which- uh
Here at the end of all things by @tattooedsiren (10k, au)
When he arrives at the Pearson Hardman building the lights are dimmed and the floor is deserted. His feet carry him to Harvey's office even though he expects it to be empty. Because Harvey probably fled the city via helicopter or teleporter or sheer force of will. But when he approaches the office he can see that Harvey is there. He has moved the couch so that it now faces the floor to ceiling windows and Mike silently sits beside Harvey, joins him in looking down at the chaos engulfing the city below. [Apocalypse AU]
I LOVE APOCALYPSE FICS UP UP UP badass!harvey makes me bark, but im a really big fan of people who find happiness in the worst circumstances and this fic does it so so so well. reminds me a lot of tlou episode like 2? the one with the strawberries. please this is what i revisit when i miss marvey and i dont have a lot of time because the world and the characters are jsut so delicious!!!
quick reads (1k+)
This Love is Silent by kim47 (8k, canon-compliant)
She should have known. She had known, that something was off, at least. She knew he was hiding something. She just never imagined it could be this. Despite Harvey's warnings, Mike tells Rachel the truth about everything. She's shocked, naturally, and more than a little angry, but she agrees to keep his secret, and even to date him. So when they break up, Harvey goes into damage-control mode.
RACHEL!! HELLO RACHEL!! im always up for smart and discerning rachel (this shows up in of all the gin joints too btw!!!) this runs realistic to me because it shows that rachelxmike arent some hopelessly wrong for each other couple, they have good and bad times. this feels more real to me than other fics bc its not like the world conspires for marvey to be apart, its just life. i know this makes it sound so sad, and it is, but trust me: this is really really really good i love this so much
an archive of harvey specter's expressions by @frivoloussuits (2k, canon-compliant)
Five old expressions that Mike rediscovers in new contexts once he and Harvey are (finally) together, and one that he sees for the first time. Alternatively titled “An Ode to Gabriel Macht’s Face.”
this was written for me. this is literally me. writing fic because gabriel macht is too pretty, like this fic is literally for me. a lot of peering at him to get this fic as masterfully written as it is, and i thank you author everyday for it. to me, this reads like it's been written with love and care and true adoration (Truly, like Mike)
Coffee-Cart Client Privilege by @frivoloussuits (7k, au)
Mike runs a coffee cart. The coffee cart.
"Why not? They're too big and dense to be a snack." So are you, Mike thinks, and yet.
IM SORRY I KEEP RECCING FRIVOLOUS SUITS THEYRE MY FAVOURITE WRITER IN THIS FANDOM HFBKABFDKHFBHKDSA this has the hand-wavy logic the show has itself but mike's internal monologue in this one is one of the best ive ever read and the way mike's integrated in the offices is just so well-done ahhhh
Objection by yeah its frivoloussuits again i feel bad tagging them like 7 times (2k, canon-adjacent)
When Mike announces he’s leaving, Harvey plans to hide the jagged pieces of his broken heart deep inside, where no one will ever find them. His heart would like to object.
BIGG fan of physical hurt/comfort!!!! also big fan of people absolutely freaking out in the hospital in fics, it makes me bounce of the wall!! very short but the angst and love really hits you quick and leaves you on the floor gasping for air. very good (also cant prove this but im very sure this is a scrubs reference.t hanks)
Excerpts From The Gospel of Harvey Specter, edited by Michael "Forever Awesome" Ross, 2011, 1st Ed, by @rcmclachlan (7k, canon compliant)
Mike can totally read people. Well, most people. Some people. Or maybe just Harvey, who's pretty much an open book.
this one's really funny! it doesent follow direct prose and instead plays a lot with the setting its in (where mike's a documenter of harvey) and its just so funny and adorable. has a lot of heart too, it isn't just crack or anything but you really feel everything mike does as he writes all this, read this!!1
One More Sleepless Night by @sal_si_puedes (9k, au)
Soul Bonds are one-sided – there’s usually mutual affection, but only one party feels the crippling need to be together as often as possible. If separated at length from their love, that party becomes crushed by longing, panic, and sheer hopelessness, and so it is illegal to forcibly keep Soulmates apart. Some days, Harvey Specter hates the Bond that skews his judgement and weakens his resolve, and he fears what would happen if anyone in his world ever discovers he is so compromised. He certainly never planned to disclose the Bond for the first time in the middle of Anita Gibbs’ office, in a last-ditch attempt to invalidate the deal sending Mike to prison.
HSDGFHSDKGHRLKGHK THIS FIC. i love fics that use more than just prose to tell their stories (see above fic) and this does my favourite thing that soulmate aus do, which is where they integrate in-universe explanations for the phenomenon. the amount of work and dedication put into this fic makes it absolutely sing and was absolutely lovely!!

golden like the daffodils by @mini-mart (2k, canon-compliant)
Poetry holds meaning, for anyone who reads it. It obscures and dances around the literal and metaphorical, because it’s imbued with so much of something that it overflows out of any definition. It can make someone mad, or lovesick, or aroused, and the reactions would be absolutely warranted. Mike is poetry, to Harvey. - Harvey Specter could be a good politician, as he believes in pragmatism over poetry. He won't let his progress fall apart, won't let someone knock it down. And then someone unceremoniously cracks open a suitcase at his feet. Or: Harvey, pretty boys and poetry.
yeah yeah i wrote this yeah yeah self promo smth smth
there's a lot more that isn't here but i'll probably write a new one when i go for a deep dive through the ship tags again :3
^^ ao3 etiqutte applies! if you like the fic, kudos and comment and bookmark!! show your love! happy reading marveys! my gift to u :3

"I don't know. Maybe you find me distracting?"
Harvey smirked. "While I won't deny I've thought about doing things to you on that couch, I've been perfecting my self control around you for four years now, sweetheart. I think I can handle it."
"Yeah, but this time's a little different."
"Oh? How so?"
"This time you know I'd let you do whatever it is you're thinking about."
"With everyone still here?" Harvey raised an eyebrow. He stood up, out from behind his desk. Smirked, then took another slow step towards Mike like a predator ready to pounce. "I mean, if you'd like that..."
Mike knew it was a game. He knew it, tried to keep eye contact with Harvey as long as he could. It was chicken, after all. Just a game. Harvey wouldn't dare.
But then Harvey took another slow, confident step towards him, just close enough that he could have reached out and touched him, and Mike's eyes shot to the door of their own accord.
"Didn't think so." Harvey let out a dark chuckle and diverted himself behind the couch, heading for his record collection. Every single hair on the back of Mike's neck suddenly felt like a live wire, and he crossed his legs conspicuously and shifted the notepad on his lap.
He nearly jumped out of his skin when Harvey leaned over the couch. The heat of his body loomed over Mike, and his breath was hot and direct in Mike's ear when he spoke. "Besides, you know me. I don't share."
He punctuated the last word by pressing a soft kiss to Mike's temple-lingering just long enough to make sure he felt Mike's shudder. Then went back to his record player and his desk like absolutely nothing had happened.

Marvey but domestic:
Harvey is eating a bagel with cream cheese, glasses on his nose, and reading from his phone. And Mike is trying to sneak up on him, socked feet quiet. And as soon as Mike is within reach of snagging the other half Harvey is grabbing his plate and phone and sliding away with a little smirk. "Get your own rookie."
"Harvey."
"Ah-ah-ah, big boys can make their own breakfast." He looks to his pouting fiance. "There's a cheese bagel with your name on it in the bread box. Veggie cream cheese in the fridge. Fresh from Chelsea's this morning."
Mike perks up. "Coffee?"
"Ready to go in the coffee maker. You just have to hit send on it."
Harvey sits back down as he watches bare feet pad around the kitchen island, pajama pants featuring little bowties and top hats, floating around Mike's legs, and one of Harvy's zip-ups thrown on over a bare chest.
He sighs in bliss as he watches Mike move around like a zombie with just a bit too much enthusiasm in its bones.
Mike is half asleep but bouncing on his toes waiting for the machine to press boiling hot water through a perfect tasting roast. Mike adds too much sugar to be sane but he wrinkles his nose when Harvey gets a syrup or flavouring in his own.
Their expensive but wonderful toaster is already set to the perfect setting for Mike, who likes his bagels a little too crisp for Harvey's mouth. It cuts the roof and his gums. But Mike will crunch in little bites like a gremlin. Crumbs all over the plate and counter and his lap. If there ends up being some on Mike's face Harvey will kiss them off.
He takes a sip of his coffee, steam fogging his glasses momentarily, and smiles as Mike stirs in his sugar and rests back against the counter. His sleepy, bleery-eyed smile is enough to say he loves Harvey. And Harvey's dopey and eye-crinkling one is answer enough.

Meetings and Morals (Marvey)
Warnings: Adult Language
Pairings: Harvey/Mike
Word Count: 2000
Hi, @fleuroqium here is your Marvey blurb. :) I’m so sorry this took me absolutely AGES. I really apologize, I hadn’t watched Suits in a hot minute, and I wanted to get back into it so I could write this the best I possibly could, but hey, this made it up to 2k words, so I hope it was worth the wait. ❤️
Nothing between Harvey and Mike had ever been ordinary. Even their first meeting was the strangest way they could have met. So, it stands to reason that the way romance started seeping into their partnership would be anything but ordinary and just like their first meeting, it was fast. It took Harvey only about 5 minutes to know he wanted to hire Mike, and it took him even less than that to know he was in love with him.
The first time that Harvey noticed his feelings start to change for Mike was the moment that Mike finally decided to grow some balls and stand up to him. If it were anyone else, Harvey would've taken it as a sign of disrespect, but because it was Mike, he took it as a sign that the kid was actually listening to him and coming into his own as a lawyer that wouldn't back down. It made Harvey feel something he doesn't think he's ever felt before, butterflies.
“You told me to fix my case; why don't you fix yours?” That's what Mike had said to him, and it had been playing over and over in Harvey’s brain for weeks. There was a bass to Mike’s voice that Harvey had never heard before, and it sent a chill up his spine.
The next time that Harvey felt those butterflies again was after a long and challenging case they had been working on. Neither of them had slept more than a couple of hours in days, and Harvey could tell that Mike was crashing. They were in Harvey’s town car, and to his credit, Mike was trying exceptionally hard to keep his eyes open. He was also leaning heavily against Harvey’s shoulder, not that Harvey minded. However, he did have to keep up appearances, so he kept shifting against Mike every few minutes, making him lift his body again, giving space between them. He couldn't let Mike think that things like this were okay, even if maybe he didn't mind it.
“Now is not the time to sleep, rookie. You're a grown man; you should be able to wait until you get to that hole you call an apartment.” Harvey chuckles softly.
“Leave me alone, Harvey,” Mike mumbles lowly. “I haven't slept in so long; I need this.”
Harvey couldn't get over how good Mike’s voice sounded when he was half asleep like this. As much as they had spent time together, Harvey doesn't think he’s ever heard it like this before. It was like Mike had all his walls down, he was wholly unguarded, and Harvey loved it. Mike always had walls up, considering everything that he was hiding.
There was one more thing that Mike was hiding, something he hadn’t even told Harvey. Mike was gay. He was worried that it would change things between him and Harvey. Things had already changed between him and Trevor. He thought that Trevor was someone he could trust. They were best friends. However, when he told Trevor about his sexual orientation, Trevor had started to close himself off from Mike. It started off with little things like not inviting him to the parties that he threw. Then, he started spending more and more time over at his girlfriend, Jenny’s, house. It didn’t seem that weird at the time; Trevor was in love with Jenny; of course, he would want to spend as much time as he could with her. It made sense; however, Jenny let him know; a few weeks later, she had told him that Trevor had only started staying with her so much because he was uncomfortable around him. Mike didn't understand it at first; they were best friends. Nothing had changed between them except… Mike had come out to him. Fuck.
Mike knows that Harvey is no Trevor. In fact, he’s exponentially better than Trevor, but that doesn’t mean coming out won’t have the same outcome. Harvey had never given Mike any reason to think that he wouldn't be okay with it, but he had never given him a reason to believe that he would be either. Mike could've gone to Donna for that kind of information, but he had no guarantee that the act of him asking the questions wouldn't get back to Harvey, and that was the last thing he needed. He couldn't tell anyone. Other than his Grandma, of course.
It doesn't take long for them to get back to Mike’s apartment, but he wishes he didn't have to leave Harvey, wants to invite him up, wishes he could, but he won’t. It would be inappropriate, and Mike just has to keep reminding himself of that. He opens up his door and gives Harvey a nonchalant goodbye before heading up to his apartment, his empty apartment. “Doesn't matter,” he tells himself; he’ll see Harvey tomorrow anyway.
Harvey had Ray drive him back to his apartment; as soon as he knows, Mike made it safely into the door. It’s a bad neighbourhood; you can never be too careful, right? When he finally makes it back to his apartment, he does nothing except get his suit off and climb into bed. He barely has time to think about anything before he’s drifting off.
It felt like only two seconds before Mike's alarm was going off again. In reality, it was at least four hours, only half of what the body actually needs, but not bad for two high-profile lawyers. He drags himself into the shower and leaves his slept-in suit strewn all over the bathroom floor. Once out of the shower, Mike picks out a new suit and decides that the one good thing he did while in the middle of the fallout with Trevor was take all of his fancy suits. He gets it on as quickly as he can and peddles through the city, narrowly missing a few cars on the busy streets before he gets to Pearson Hardman. When he makes his way to Donna’s desk because he still needs permission to enter Harvey’s office even after all they’ve been through, he notices that Harvey is nowhere to be seen. “What? I made it here before Harvey?” He grins, but Donna doesn’t even look up.
“Wrong.” She answers immediately, making Mike’s grin disappear. “Harvey is in a meeting with Jessica this morning.”
That makes Mike’s eyebrows crease together, and it takes him a moment to talk again. “He didn’t tell me about that.”
“I forgot; you’re in charge of Harvey’s schedule. Oh no, wait, that’s me.” Donna finally looks up to smirk cheekily at Mike.
Mike can’t think of what to say to that because she is right, and her smirk scares him, so he figures he’ll just come back when he catches a glimpse of Harvey.
***
When Harvey got to work this morning, he didn’t expect to be called into Jessica’s office, and he had half a mind to tear Donna a new one for forgetting to tell him about this. His faith in her was restored when Jessica made it known that this was a more impromptu thing. She offers him a seat which makes him uneasy, her smile, even more.
“So, you’re in love with Mike.” She starts, just dropping that bomb right away.
Harvey is taken aback, but he keeps his face neutral; being a lawyer has helped with that. “What makes you say that?”
Jessica only gives a humourless chuckle and shakes her head. “I’m not an idiot, Harvey, don’t treat me like one.” She offers no other explanation, but Harvey has known her long enough to know that he can’t charm his way out of this one, and if she’s asking, it’s because she already knows and has the evidence to back it up. “I was here late last night. I saw you give him a ride home, and I saw the way you looked at him when he was getting into your town car and not looking back.
There’s the evidence.
Harvey opens his mouth, about to plead his case, when Jessica holds up her hand and cuts him off. “But!” She starts. “I also saw how he looked at you while you were talking to Ray.” For the first time, she cracks a smile.
This time, Harvey doesn’t hold back his surprise. “He did? How?” He knows he’s giving Jessica far too much leverage right now, but he was caught off guard.
Jessica’s smile doesn’t leave, but it doesn’t get any bigger. This is a business meeting, after all, and the walls are made of glass, and she doesn’t answer him. “I’m not one to encourage workplace relationships. In fact, I think I actively discourage it, and I feel you have already put us in the fire with everything else you’ve done when it comes to the kid.” She levels him with a look, and once again, Harvey opens his mouth to defend himself. “I also know…” Jessica cuts in. “That telling you not to do something will only make you want to do it more, so I say, tell the kid how you feel.”
Harvey, whose mouth has been open through that entire speech, only now closes it and stands up. He wants to get out of here before Jessica changes her mind, so he gives her a nod and a “Thank you” before he rebuttons his suit jacket and makes his way back to his office, but not before stopping off at Mike’s cubicle. “My office. Now.”
Mike knows that tone; either he’s done something wrong, or the firm is in trouble, and it’s up to him and Harvey to save it. Neither of which he really wants to be on the hook for when his head isn’t into it 100%. He straightens up and quickly follows Harvey into his office. “What’s going on? What did Jessica want? Was it bad? It was bad, right?” He rambles, nervous.
At this moment, listening to Mike ramble and freak out, he wonders why he even likes the younger man. He really causes nothing but trouble, though it is very endearing. He lets Mike pace back and forth for a few more minutes while Harvey just sits at his desk and smiles at him. That’s what gives him away.
Mike stops, turning to Harvey for answers when he’s finally stopped talking, but all he’s met with is the dopey smile that confuses him. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
God, Harvey hopes he isn’t wrong about this, that Jessica didn’t read too much into a look and steer him in the wrong direction. “This isn’t about Jessica; this is about you.” Arguably not a good way to start this conversation because the horrified look is back on Mike’s face, and Harvey has regrets.
“Oh god, someone found out I didn’t go to Harvard, didn’t they?” He breathes, rubbing a hand over his face. “Who was it? Am I gonna go to jail?” Mike is spiralling again.
“No, no. Relax, Rookie. Nothing like that. This isn’t even about work or Jessica.” It was kind of about Jessica, but Mike didn’t need to know that.
Mike’s face melded from horrified to shocked and confused. “You called me in here like that to talk to me about something not work-related?” He frowns.
“Yeah, I have a reservation at Per Se tomorrow night. I’ve had this reservation for months, so don’t be late. Harvey is sure he’ll have to buy Donna a new, ridiculously expensive handbag for the inconvenience of an uninvitation, but he’s sure she’ll understand in the name of love. “And Mike?” He says, just before he kicks the man out. “It’s a five-star restaurant, so find a better tie, okay?” If Harvey is going to confess any sort of feelings, especially romantic ones, he’s going to do it in style, even if everything will make Mike roll his eyes.

Fluffy February #1 Snow
  Suits / Marvey / Rated G    It wasn't like Mike had never experienced a snowstorm, and it wasn't even that Manhattan hadn't had one recently. It was that snowfall in the city got muddy and slushy and suspiciously colored way too quickly, and the surprise four inches of perfectly playful precipitation was less than pure after a late night in the office. Mike had been so excited to cut out and go to the park with Harvey, slyly challenging him to a snowball fight and debating himself about the best cafe for hot chocolate on the way home.
While Harvey had little control over the weather or the last minute twists in their cases, he really wanted to remind Mike that throwing baseballs and snowballs were very similar skill sets. He wanted to make corny jokes about keeping him warm and getting him out of his wet clothes. He wanted to stop Mike's pouting about how declaring a snow day would be better for the workplace morale.
    So when the next storm was predicted to come through upstate, Harvey rented the safest crossover he could find, found a fancy milk frother, and whisked Mike away for a snow day or three.
    It was great for morale.

I’m thinking about Suits in the context of the post I’ve seen going around about why so many women are into mlm ships.
To me, Marvey is the perfect example of that.
If Mike’s character was a woman, a sexual dynamic with Harvey would feel icky and predatory. If Harvey’s character was a woman she would be burdened with “cougar” preconceptions.
With two men, the power dynamic can just be hot without the burden of centuries of patriarchy.

Hey hey psst, you got more wing au thoughts?
Hi, hi pssst if I have to be totally honest? Nope. AHAHHAH seriously this time it was just an idea but then I read your question and I had other ideas. So this is mix born by Ice's fanart with the wings (the fanartist is so so good, it's here!), Mav leaving his golden wings on Ice's coffin and this fanfiction (it's a marvey, so suits, dunno how many people knows it but it's worth a while!). The point are mostly happy like canon divergence because it deserves to be an happy au. Okay a little bit of angst is there but not a shit tones.
Tom doesn't come in the world with them. His mom used to call him is little angel but his mom was twenty eight when he was ten and out of their home before he was eleven, so it doesn't really count anymore. He's thirteen and coming home from school when the hitches on the back, he's having for a couple of days, goes full pain and he finds himself screaming an crying in an empty house. It takes three days before his back and his feathers stop bleeding. He doesn't say a word to his dad but he calls his granma because he needs help and he doesn't trust the man. His granma cries over the phone and says him in a language he doesn't understand. She is on the first bus to check on him and for the rest of the week she takes care of him and when Sunday comes around she's back on the bus, his dad is relive she is gone and Tom knows what to do, more or less;
Tom's mom's side of the family is Jewish but his dad doesn't want him to be anything if not American. And he's just half of that on good days;
He tends to them, grooms the feathers and fluffs them every night and straps them around his back and chest when he has to go to school. During winter they keep him nice and warm and during summer are hell but his dad got deployed somewhere else so he's the new kid again and doesn't have time to think about being hot;
When he's nineteen he meets Ronald J. Kerner, already taller than him, that's want to be his friend so bad Tom feels his cheeks going a little red. Ron wants other two things that bad: to fly jets and to kiss his boyfriend stupid. Tom shouldn't know about the latter but he walks without making a sound and Nick seems a pretty good guy;
He still doesn't know how to fly. He spread his wings, everytime he can and grooms them every week. They're so big and yet he can barely feel their weight on his back and he straps them in the same way is granma showed him years before;
Tom caught them and Ron catch him and his wings spread out behind his back an afternoon he sweared he was going to be out until dinner. Tom waits to be called a freak and to see his new friend run for the hills screaming but Ron sits at the end of the bed and man they're awsome. Do you know how to use them?;
And this is how Tom learns: Ron with a physics book about birds' fly and too many bruises all over Tom's body. But it's fun and sometimes they talk about Nick too, about Tom wanting a cat and to fly over the ocean and he promises when he knows how to fly he's going to take Ron up there with him. That promise forges a life long friendship that won't die until the end of their lives;
Flight school sucks because Tom knows-it-all and Ron knows because Tom explains to him and so he explains it to Nick and the professors are so slow when they all want just to fly. After two years Tom knows how to fly pretty well and Ron loves their little excursion on trails when nobody's around;
Tom ends up being a pilot, no doubt to that, Ron his RIO and that's the oldest story in the world, y'know? They're 22 and Annapolis is done, the orders are in and it's the first time Ron and Nick aren't going to be in the same place for more than two weeks. They're both pissed and they say things they regret a moment after they left their mouth (you promised to by my pilot! //And you promised me to be faithful but hey, guess what? You beat me on breaking promises.) and they're out in the middle of the sea hours later. That night Tom, now Iceman, leaves Ron helping with grooming his wings because he discovered it helps him to focus and to talk;
On a carrier is difficult being alone so Tom spends eight months with his wing strapped to his back, flying and fighting for his and Slider's life more than anything else (I'm going to take us back home, I promise). He spends the three months of the end of the year with his wings always spread and flying as fast as any jet he every piloted back in the little village his mom grew up in;
Then he's back in America and Ron is where he was hoping he'd be and two years are already gone when TOP GUN calls in and oh boy that night the fly over San Diego as if their life depended by it. Than Peter Maverick fucking Mitchell happens to him and he wants to really really fly the fucking away because his wings make stupid twitches everytime he's around and Ice can't help but wondering how it was if he touched them. Nick is back too, with a wife and a kid, who's photos he always shows to everybody and Ron is happy for him, but a little heartbroken still;
It's the middle of the night when Mav catches him, wing large as life on the sand and water lapping his feet. When he asks why he flies jets when he have them he answers I like to fly with Ron and Mav smiles, yeah yeah I can get that;
He doesn't ask to touch them until after the Enterprise and after they see Ron dancing with Nick and Carole. Mav says they're soft and rubs his cheek against the end of the left one and Tom has the instinct to close them around Pete to protect him and kiss him. Pete kisses him, at the end, because I wanted to do this for a long time and they fall asleep cocooned by his wings;
Pete is the second person Tom takes up to fly but not the last one, because Bradley is too cure to say no. But Pete is the first person he takes home back in Poland and the first he talks about being 13 and fucking scared. Ron knows the most of it but somethin' about being back makes Tom talk and talk and talk for hours until he has nothing else to say;
They're flying over the stretch of the ocean in front of their home when Pete say, for the first time, I'm in love with you. Slider has a video of them falling in to the sea and, after the initial concerned, he laughs himself to tears because oh, just you Tom, just you.

dfhgjd I decided to rewatch the suits pilot after sending that marvey ask and got jumpscared by my girl Karolina!!!! sweetie hiiiii. I think she's only in the pilot but omg I didn't Know it was her. (and lawrence too! but karolina <3)
also I forgot it's actually a really solid pilot?? AND I didn't realise the fucking. harvey being pissy that mike's "playing footsie" with a paralegal and then harvey immediately next scene being like I wasn't gonna let you come to court with me "but then I thought it'd be cruel not to let you witness my greatness" was in the pilot and that's soooo tomgreg 3x7 ken's birthday coded when tom's jealous of greg going after comfrey and then being like "I'm enjoying very much thinking about myself and my own various skills and abilities" like. it's so. 'I'm great look at me and how amazing I am. not her.' (and in that courtroom scene mike has his hand on his mouth just like greg would sdfhhjk)
and also. I swear. harvey's so bi coded. from "if that's too pansy for you" at the beginning; to using two men in an analogy about a sexual relationship and basically being like 'why not? the uniform's a turn on'; to, listen, him and his suit guy have fucked, okay, I'm e x t r a p o l a t i n g, what with the suit guy's reaction and it also being stated harvey's fucked his female PI, too, and is obviously promiscuous and able to "close" anyone. and. like. the double meaning of continuing to flatter his female boss by answering "really hot" to a question he's apparently not listening to but that Question was how his new associate's working out, so like, it's as if he's actually calling mike really hot.
and omg the adoration of his new Play Thing (mike) in this episode ALONE. he finds him so funnnn already (dodging the bullet scene my beloved <3) and he's already fucking possessive of him! and proud! and the fucking. pats. he loves this boyyyyy. (and this boy is playing back!!!)
sorry for coming into your ask box ranting about a ship that's not yours dgfhjs and there's absolutely no pressure to watch at all (I Can shut up) But I just Know you could eat this up so deliciously and tear up any drop of subtext and all the little moments sgfhj from the way you talk about tomgreg
marvey and tomgreg are truly holding hands I think they should double date <3 and maybe hire them
oh my goooood!!! that sounds so good!!! no no don’t shut up please!!! when i watch it i can liveblog it, if you want 🥰 i will absolutely do that i love to analyse stuff like that so much!! YES gawd i agree <3
