oh to discover alien merfolk😩 and you're the biggest novelty they've seen😩😩 most of what i'm drawing is self-indulgent mer au stuff, i am my own cheerleader.
You sail out to the spot you could last remember meeting them, disheartened when the mermen don't, finding yourself questioning all that has happened in the last week, and your childhood and the myth that saturates.
Until one does show up, and brings the other, and suddenly there are two mermen on the deck of your small houseboat; one that is tired as the sunset but entertains your several questions, the other who prefers to scare you at any given opportunity and eat the entire bucket of fish you've brought, and both seemingly insistent that you do not leave, they do not leave you, and that there may be something else in the water.
This is what you get for being friends with mythical omens of legend.

because of my exams i'm getting a little burnout but i still wanted to post these along with all the doodles i made of them ewe
also some infos:
they are based on fancy goldfishes (the chonky ones), betta fishes and plecos respectively, but they are still their own species so they aren't really biologically accurate to those species lol
so like, Moon and Eclipse are the only ones with teeth, Sun has something similar to a beak, and a radula in there.
sun isn't the smartest one but its ok, he's a sweetheart and always does his best
moon bites everything new he finds as a first instinct
this included eclipse, but the guy is a little weird and didn't really minded it, instead he decided biting was a goof form of greeting and now bites for fun
moon didn't noticed Eclipse was there until he went to check on sun thru their tank tube and got jumpscared by the pleco instead
Eclipse has ringed eyes because his irises are light colored, so his pupils are more visible
he also has a hooked tongue, he needs that to scape algaes off of things, and his jaw can open quite far to make the typical cleaner fish face
the little 'whiskers' on his face are actually little fins, he can wiggle them if he wants
@naffeclipse since you started talking about Orca!Eclipse with his little siren babies I have not been able to get this out of my head. Orca Siren Eclipse shows off his little baby Sun and Moon sirens to my Mer Sun and Moon and their little half-mer baby Eclipse.
I imagine both y/ns very apprehensive somewhere out of frame. WtTK!y/n at least would NOT be thrilled about her baby getting dangled in front of Orca!Eclipse like a snack
Progress update on the animation of @zus-a-fungi ‘s boys after today’s (8h!!!) stream!
Animated the tail and fins with random solid colors so I have an easier time keeping the volumes constant, and made his face squishier on the smoosh!
Bonus gif of the previous version under the readmore!

[ID: Sun from Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach as a pufferfish mer. He is swimming, then notices the viewer and stops to wave frantically. He then does a small backflip and swims right up to the viewer, grabbing the edges of the frame curiously and sticking his face up close to the lens. He smiles, smooshes his face against the lens in a "kiss", then backs up a little and swims in place. After a moment of him bobbing in place, the huge shadowed face of Moon as a whaleshark mer slowly rises behind him, looking at the viewer with glowing eyes /End ID]
Sun loves cuddles with the human! He has a bit of a hard time with getting comfortable with it since the inner fins on his head and neck have venomous barbs like that of lion fish and lion’s mane jelly fish, but once he figures out how to keep his safe fins wrapped around the dangerous ones, he is a monster for physical connection.
Moon is a bit slower on warming up to the pink-hair, but once he comes to the realization of his feelings, it hits him hard. He likes physical affection, and he’ll wrap up the lil human like a snake, but only when they are alone. Around others, and even Sun sometimes, he doesn’t like to show any hints of weakness, physical or emotional.
