MHA MANGA SPOILERS

About Star & Stripe and the leaks :

- Yes her quirk is totally broken, probably the most powerful of the world right now. But we have to keep in mind that she's the strongest woman in the world and America #1 hero, of course she was going to be strong. I would have a prefered a quirk like "technology manipulation", or similar to All Might still. My problem with S&S is that she is being introduced waaaay too late into the story, and to be sidelined in a few chapter. Horikoshi, why create a character like this just to delay the final fight??? We're supposed to believe she was in the same world all this time and All Might never talked about her?

- She went straight for the kill, it didn't worked because of her quirk's limitations (she apparentely has to know the nature of object/person she wants to impose a rule on, and even Shigaraki doesn't seem to know his real identity at the moment). I see people criticising this move on her part, "Heroes don't kill" etc. but ... we're in the middle of the war right now. I know that Deku is trying to save Tenko, but at the moment if a hero has a shot at killing Tenko they should take it. I 100% mean it even if I know it's not going to happen. Shigaraki is almost complete, soon he's going to have all of AFO's quirks he's extremely dangerous AND the leader of a war and of many villains who are terrorizing the country, if a hero can kill him and doesn't try to it's criminal. Every minutes he's alive is harming people. S&S was actually very pragmatic and she went for the best solution to try to stop the war. And yes Tenko has a tragic story and was manipulated into this by AFO (who should also die), doesn't change the fact that killing him is one of the fastest way to stop the war. Imagine if AFO had been sentenced to death after his fight at Kamino...

OKAY BUT.

I'm glad Horikoshi finally stablished in the canon, in a pretty clear way, that Tomura still holds on to the past and to what happened to his family. Why?

Because let's remember that we, readers, know his past, but no one else does. No one from the League, not even Kurogiri. And I don't know if Deku knows.

No one knows about Tenko. He's still forgotten, he's still not save, he's still wondering some imaginary streets, waiting for a hero to appear.

Shigaraki Tomura is the identity AFO created for the kid he found on the streets, but it is not the real identity of Tomura. The same way AFO and Tomura together would form a new being, the real identity of Tomura is a mixtura or Tomura himself with Tenko.

Do you all remember who saved Deku during the sport festival when Shinso was controlling his mind? The Vestiges.

What Tomura needs is to find peace in his memories, to let go or let himself be. Once the hatred towards his family becomes smaller, the pain in his heart will be less. And he would be able to see clearer, he would be able to give himself and society a second chance.

AFO biggest power is taking advantage of the weakness of others. If Tomura stops hating with such intensity, if Spinner refuses to be used, if Dabi and Toga also refuse to play by his rule, if even Kurogiri, his partial nomu, refuses to follow his orders, he's alone. He'll be one sorry ass desperate to control his life, to control the world, because he feels weak and lonely. And that's how he will also die, weak and lonely, frustrated, like he made so many people feel.

See? This is why it is hard to believe in heroes and their ‘always good intentions’.

While I do believe that SnS has an awesome, and terrifying Quirk, I think that her use is so flexible that she does not have to actually threaten her targets at this point in order to get them to comply with her orders. But, while it is understandable that Shigaraki represents a big threat, and that they are trying to solve this as soon as they can with their big guns, I think this unnecessary and disproportionate use of force is exactly the point of criticism of every single hero out there (and exactly why not every one can be a hero, out there): a hero needs to be morally and physically strong, as well as ethically wise. A hero should know the difference between a hard blow, and a death sentence, and yet one and once again we are being told that, indeed, heroes do not understand this difference (maybe because they never tried to stand on the other side), and by typical Machiavellian rhetoric, the means justifies the end.

But does it, really?

Does this mean, saving the world from succumbing to AfO’s rule, really justify killing Shigaraki on the spot?
