I had 4 Bikes my whole childhood
1st one was Red & Blk with training wheels.
2nd was Orange & Blk with neon beads on the wheels. I loved that bike but hated carting it up to our 3rd flooring Apt
3rd was a metallic green slate mountain bike & a zipper pouch that fit to the frame under the seat. I loved that bike the most even though it gave me Hell.
When it was time for a new bike my Aunt took me to a police Auction. Back then I always wanted a bike with the spokes & it was a white mongoose with black spikes in the Auction. I was soo mad to not get that bike.
4th & Lastly my Aunt got these 2 dark teal mountain bikes; 1 was mine. They weren’t that special to me because they were the same color. Those bikes just sat & when I started using them they were always flat. Those bikes didn’t last long at all.
Soo I’ve been eyeing this Blk & Hot Pink bike at different Walmarts which was selling out fast. Ayer not seeing the bike on shelves for 3weeks; I found only 2 at the Walmart right up the street from me today. I checked it out to get the feel & decided that the bike was coming home with me. It’s now my 5th bike & I feel it’s going to be good exercise for my Diabetes.

you think the speed limit is a suggestion while going in the left lane or what? I can't belive you spend days scolding people for not wearing helmets on bike while thinking driving above the speed limit is not only acceptable but expected.
speeding in the left lane is not only acceptable and expected but empirically safer than matching the speed of the right lanes, to the extent that the latter is literally illegal in my state. by not using the passing lane for its intended purpose, you force anyone trying to pass to go around you on the right, making at least two lane changes that are much more dangerous than maintaining a speed of 80mph in one lane. if you respond to this with some variation of "well everyone trying to pass me should just drive slower then" or "i AM passing because i'm doing 68 and will be a car length ahead of this guy to my right in 2-3 business days" i will release a rabid mongoose into your bathroom the next time you have taco bell shits

Rvb skating hcs, bc I miss skating but I can’t figure out how to put the brake back on my blades, and where I live is rlly hilly so I need it or else I'm trapped in the cul-de-sac.
Putting a break cause its a real long list lol
Skateboards:
Alpha Church (Can’t actually skateboard, swears he can but he's sooo wobbly) Tex (Can actually skateboard, makes fun of church) Tucker (Between Church and Tex’s levels, hes decent at it) Wash (Don’t think I need to explain this one) Niner (I’ve seen a lot of wheelchair niner hcs, shed totally do wheelchair skateboarding) Palomo (Falls over a lot, but hey he just keeps on going.) Bitters (Absolutely holds it over Palomos head that he’s better at skateboarding) Theta (canon)
Rollerskates:
Kai (Dunno if this one needs an explanation, she might like derby ngl) Donut (He seems like he’d use them as transportation, just skatin around) South (She’d do roller derby and get so competitive about it) CT (Seen some videos of people doing sweet flips and tricks w skates) Ohio (She gives me the vibe of someone who’s got cool iridescent pink roller skates) Andersmith (Picked up skating cause the younger lieutenants were into it) Matthews (He’s a bit unbalanced, but he’s determined)
Rollerblades:
Carolina (Speed, blades are faster than skates) Simmons (He is shaky as hell, but he is trying. Won’t skate anywhere that’s not flat.) Kimball (Lina taught her, they race) Dr Grey (Dunno, just vibes) Jensen (Much like Simmons but with more uneven terrain) Epsilon Church (Picked blades so he could skate w Lina, and to be different from Wash n Alpha) Omega/O’malley (I'm just picturing him chasing people around at high speeds, cackling) Eta (Wanted to try something new, and to spend time w Theta)
Iceskates:
Florida (Specifically figure skating) Felix (Honestly idk, he’s cold and sharp like an ice skate) Delta (He’d ramble about why it’s an intellectual sport, but actually just thinks its fun) Sigma (He’d be rlly pretentious about it)
Scooter:
York (Guy has no balance but still wants to be included) Iota (Cheers on Eta and Theta, does sick scooter tricks)
Other:
Grif (I think he’d have a longboard that he rides around) Sarge (Quad bike) Doc (Also a longboarder) Idaho (I think he’d prefer dirt bike racing) Iowa (Quad bike, it’s like a mongoose) Caboose (Mountain bike, no real explanation, just vibes)
Doesn’t skate (or bike or anything):
Lopez (He prefers cars, might've made an electric skateboard at some point but doesn't rlly use it) Wyoming (Can’t see him skating at all ngl) North (Cheers everyone else on and records videos) Maine (First aid) Locus (Tried to skate once and fell over. Now he just broods from the benches.) Doyle (Too nervous, prefers to just watch) Gamma (I don’t think he’d go outside much ngl)

This is my bicycle. It’s my number one bike because it’s got a shiny orange color, flame decals on its tires, and I even had it fitted with a horn, a bell and even a basket. My bike is called the mongoose.

Morganic Musings
20th November 1998 saw the 65th issue of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comic escape its continental cargo confines and reach the hands of Australian retailers. For us then-avid readers, it meant hopping on a bike after school to make that traditional end-of-month pledge over to the local newsagent, ready to swap a hard-earned $3.95 (and any extra loose change for an ice block when possible) for another enthralling escape to Mobius.
And yet it all felt different this time.
Tumblr media
In the aptly titled The Fellowship of the Rings, audiences were introduced to the story of Nate Morgan. Having cameoed in the previous issue (released here on 22nd October '98 for the curious), this humble human sheltered the battered Sonic and Tails into his isolated tundra abode, while giving that nuisance Ixis Naugus a well-deserved booting out. The small, seemingly insignificant old man would prove anything but, as the issue recounted his adventures and adversities over the decades; from creating and refining the Power Rings, serving as key member of Royal Acorn court, even establishing how the Lake of Rings operated while visiting the future Knothole Village and Freedom Fighters' underground HQ
The road from concept to completion for this character was far from easy, and for years looked as though he'd never see the light of day. Morgan's origins can be traced all the way back to early 1992 during DiC's initial development of their Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons, where he was depicted in their story bible as a 110 year old black human with flowing white beard living in Knothole. A former environmental advisor now proud Freedom Fighter, he was a friend to all animals, offering advice/support and boosting morale where he could with the occasional magic trick. Two rough sketches accompanied his profile, with the choice of tall or short designs.
By the time 1997 rolled around, a copy of that story bible and designs made their way into Archie's office. Having combed through its contents, editor Justin Gabrie decided the character deserved a second chance and ordered his inclusion in the comic. The task fell on newly-minted head writer Karl Bollers to breathe life into the character opting to go with the shorter model, which artist Patrick Spaziante imbued with his Midas touch. And lo, the old man was reborn a new old man.
I genuinely liked Nate Morgan (or as my younger self used to mispronounce him, "Mor-Gain". Hey, we all do stupid things from time to time) as a character. His appearance in the comic was something of a revelation, especially in a pre-Adventure era where the idea of other humans let alone a whole city of them living on Mobius was pretty farfetched. It added intriguing new layers to the series' lore, nor could I say no to another kindly father figure at a time when the likes of King Max and Locke were anything but. His backstory of seeking acceptance only to find hate and deception at every turn really touched a nerve, and was saddened to pick up and see his demise years later in issue 105's Touch of Evil.
Unfortunately that same hatred manifested in the real-world, and it felt more than a few times that I was the only person who cared.
How disheartening it was to boot up the 25.5kph modem, peruse the message groups and see fellow readers' reactions. Whether it be through dislike of change or some underlying racial prejudice (which he sadly was a target of more than once), fans certainly didn't hold back when voicing their displeasure over the character. A chaotic chorus which only grew as the millennium drew to a close; some hated his sudden importance to the history of Power Rings and the Acorn Kingdom, others thought he'd outright steal the spotlight from Uncle Chuck and Rotor as the residential techspert, the shameless self-insert of Karl Bollers (or Ken Penders depending on which fan you asked), and of course the ever-present decries of "Mr. Walking Plot Device". In that light, early Mina Mongoose fans got off lucky. It would be nice to see Nate Morgan resurrected or even reevaluated in some form or other in future media, but like the rest of the cast, this series had its time and its day. New ideas and characters have since stepped up to fill their void, even if it's quite the pickle finding a similar substitute for him.
But stranger things have happened. His appearance in the first place being the best one.

Two Ghosts Chapter 13 - Alternate Ending
Tumblr media
TITLE: Two Ghosts Chapter 13 - Alternate Ending PAIRING: Iceman/OC RATING: T CHAPTER: 13/? SUMMARY: It was just a routine training session, but it changed Noel “Mongoose” Grenier’s  life forever. The legends of pilots flying through time vortexes was true, because it happened to her. Dropped into 1984 during Maverick’s Top Gun training, she must navigate keeping her secret while also completing the program…again. Will she return to her own time unscathed? Or will she lose her heart in the process?
[A/N - I’ve decided the Alternate Ending will have an epilogue and then we’ll get on with the canon ending. Then maybe I’ll do some follow drabbles looking at Mongoose’s life with Ice.]
Iceman went to the locker room to clean up after their debriefing.
Mongoose had been quiet for some reason after they went below deck.
He started to take off his flight suit when a piece of paper fluttered to the ground.
It was a note from Mongoose.
When you find this, read the letter I left for you in your room.
Iceman’s mind went to the worse possible outcome and he took off running to his room. On his pillow was a letter addressed to him.
           Dear Ice,
I didn’t know how to tell you this, so I settled for putting it in a letter instead. My name is Noel Grenier and I’m from the future. 30 years in the future. In the future you’re a four-star Admiral, which is how I knew you. Admiral Tom “Iceman” Kazansky, uncle to Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw. That’s right. Rooster is Goose’s son. Funny how their callsigns are so similar. You may not believe all this now, but you will one day. If by some chance I’m ever sent back, please look after Bradley for me? Be there for him because he’ll need it. I won’t spoil anything for you, but Maverick does something pretty stupid and he’ll need someone in his corner. I already told Mav about being from the future because I kind of let it slip. Sorry. If you don’t want anything to do with me after this letter, I’ll understand. I’ll strike out on my own and make sure you never see me again, but if you still wanna be with me I’ll meet you at the O Club when we get back to California.
                                                                                                    Your Minx
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Mongoose managed to avoid Iceman on the ship and spent most of her time with Maverick, but Iceman also hadn’t made an effort to come find her. Mongoose wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
The night they arrived in California, Mongoose made her way to the O Club. She was still dressed in her Navy Whites when she and Maverick pulled up to the door. She wished she had packed a dress to change into.
Mongoose climbed off Maverick’s bike. “Thanks for bringing me, Mav. I’ll call you I guess…if Ice doesn’t show,” Mongoose said.
“Ice adores you, Noel. He’d be stupid to let you go,” he told her.
Mongoose blushed.
She went inside and ordered herself a drink at the bar. She had several Naval officers try to hit on her, but she turned them down. She didn’t want just any old Naval officer. She wanted Iceman.
Mongoose sat there and watched the hours go by, slowly losing hope.
Just as she was about to leave, she heard, “Excuse me ma’am, but is this seat taken?”
Mongoose turned to Iceman and smiled. “No.”
Iceman sat down and ordered a drink.
“I thought you weren’t coming,” Mongoose said.
“I needed some time to think about things.”
Mongoose’s heart sank. “Oh. I totally get it if you never wanna see me again. I can ask about transferring to another squadron or…”
Iceman cut off her ramble by kissing her. “Noel, you are the best pilot I’ve ever seen and I would probably be dead without you. That’s why I need you by my side. I don’t ever want to let go of you, even if I lose you in a couple weeks, month, years. I don’t care. I want you for as long as you want me.”
Mongoose’s eyes misted up with tears. “I…I want you too.”
Iceman pressed his lips to hers again, but this kiss was gentle and filled with passion.
Mongoose knew it was too soon to say she was in love with Iceman, but she had a feeling she was headed in that direction.

Libraries Take the Spotlight in this Disney Junior Show
Tumblr media
Recent animated series like She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Hilda, Cleopatra in Space, and Too Loud have portrayed libraries positively. One Disney Junior show, which features the first South Asian protagonist in the network’s history, brings this trend to cable: Mira, Royal Detective.
The titular protagonist, Mira, lives in the fictional kingdom of Jalpur, set in 19th century India. She is a royal detective who serves at the pleasure of the queen and is “on the case” to help anyone in the kingdom, regardless of their socioeconomic class, with the assistance of two mongooses (Mikku and Chikku). Viewers of all ages can enjoy the series, especially the episodes with scenes in libraries.
Tumblr media
In the show’s 14th episode, Mira works with her friends to determine the origin of a stomping sound shaking the royal palace. During her investigation, she travels to the palace library in hopes that it will help her solve the case. In the process, she re-shelves books which have been pushed to the ground by shaking underneath the palace. Viewers see spiral stairs leading to the library’s second level and beautiful designs in keeping with the rest of the show’s visual motif. The library reappears in the next episode as well: Mira and her friends Priya and Prince Neel fall into a secret room, much like in the scene in Hilda when a pet deerfox stumbles upon a secret special collections room in the town’s library. Using hints left by the previous detective, Mira and her friends soon enter another hidden room, and go through all the books on the shelves to find another clue. When they have almost lost hope of solving the case, Mira spies one final book. It has a note from the former detective, and she uses that to continue her journey. She then finds a book the detective left specifically for her, detailing unsolved mysteries in the kingdom. We see the same hidden room of the library briefly in another episode when Mira is showing a visiting princess some of the detective disguises left behind by the former royal detective. All these scenes communicate the value of libraries and their organization.
In the show’s 22nd episode, Mira solves a library-related mystery; the entire episode emphasizes the value of libraries, with some reviewers saying that it has a lesson about “proper library borrowing etiquette.” The episode begins with Mira pedaling a bike-powered bookmobile across Jalpur and telling her mongoose friends that everyone is amazed by the new “mobile library,” the design of which is inspired by actual bookmobiles. Mira works with her father, Sahil, to set up this library and says she is excited the city now has a movable library. When her friend Neel returns a book to the library, she tells him that there is always room for more books and that the library is for the whole town. After that, in keeping the tone of the series, the characters sing a sweet song about the importance of reading and libraries. This includes Mira describing the library as a "big buffet where you can try something different every day," with many stories that can allow people to get lost in their imaginations in the process. Following this, Sahil checks out books to patrons and says that the last step is returning the book after you are finished with it.
Afterward, Mira’s cousin Dhruv returns a fantasy book named The Magical Monsoon and recommends it to those standing nearby. Mira notes that there is a waiting list for the book due to its popularity. Her friend, Kamala, checks out another book, with Mira’s mongoose friends stamping the book, taking out a slip and putting it in a box; Sahil tells her that she should return the book in three days, acting as the librarian. Shortly thereafter, The Magical Monsoon goes missing with no book slip showing who checked out the book. Mira begins her investigation, using her tools to find the person who took the book, talking to some of her friends to gather information. She eventually discovers that Kamala’s sister Dimple took the book by accident, solving the case. Mira reminds her that you need to check out library materials properly so that the library can keep track of their materials, so they are available for everyone to enjoy. The episode ends with the mongooses reading the book aloud to Mira and her friends who gather around a tree in the center of Jalpur, enjoying the story.
Fans who watch the series on cable or streaming services can expect more Mira, Royal Detective in the future: it was renewed for a second season before it even premiered! Whether libraries or librarians appear in future episodes, the series has already made clear to viewers the importance of libraries and hopefully it continues to do so in the future.
