Heyyy, would you possibly be able to do a Noah Sebastian story that is like a brothers best friend dynamic? I live eat and breathe this stuff lol
I WANNA FEEL LOVE AGAIN
Tumblr media
Couple: Noah Sebastian x Fem!Reader
Content Warning: slight mention of sexual intercorse. Nothing too deep, I'm saving it for next Chapters
Summary:  you're a real mess, your life is turning into a living hell, so your brother Matt convinces you to move in with him in LA and start working for the band he's taking care of
A/N: I dont wanna spoil to much in here, because... Well, you' ll see. English is not my native language and no one peer review this ff. It's gonna be a world of fun, I already know it!
Important! I don't know Noah or Matt or any of the real people portrayed un this story. This is fictional!
Enjoy then 😏
Ouch, I've lost myself again
You've always been around, unseen. Having a brother like Matt could be a blessing and a nightmare in equal parts. You were feeded with stories about gigs and musicians while grow up with your older brother, who is dear to you in a way that actually you cant explain. Matt as always been your twin flame even if you are younger than him. You grew up looking at him with a lot of respect and it broke your heart when he left Texas, moving to California. At the time you werent ready for the big change and your brother's friend were still a bit mysterious to you.
You were used to spend as much time as possible in his company, but with this fresh start for him, you just fell into the ordinary. Nothing against your life, by the way; your parents always supporting, best friends ready to drive you to the closer pub and deliver the best night possible, a lovely boyfriend who adored you in any meaning.
You loved the shit out of Shawn. He was your person, the one always there when you were in need. Your high school sweetheart. Maybe he wasnt your first kiss or your first fuck but he was the one who made you feel like it was worthy, living for someone else. The one who pushed you to improve yourself for your own sake, that helped you in finding a job for the local tattoo shop as a piercer when the school was over.
You did everything in your power to be the best girlfriend possible. You decoreted your shared flat in the warmest way possible. You turned down a good scholarship for that college in Montana, pissing your parents and brother for this lost opportunity. You gave up to your dream to be a writer because he had to stay in Texas and take care of his mom. You helped him through the loss, when she die.
But it wasn't enough.
You loved the shit out of Shawn and he loved you in return, but it wasn't enough.
Your relationship suffered a slow, agonizing death with multiple attempt of reanimation. Vacations togheter, a bigger flat, a cat.
Nothing compensate the distance between the two of you and he was the one brave enough to call it for a quit. You knew was gonna happen but it didn't hurt you less. Moving back to your parents, while quitting your job just to avoid to meet him everyday, took you to the bottom. Then the shutdown decided to kick you while you were already down, spending days in bed just listen music or watching anime whitout any chance to go out with your friends or for just a walk.
Everyone was really worried about you. You lose weight and that energy that always marked you.
And you stayed there, drowing in your own misery until Matt decided that enough was enough.
《 Pack your shit, you're moving in with me to LA. You're done making mom and pops that upset.》
The end of fall 2021 signed your rebirth. Matt found a bigger apartment for the two of you and Lucifurr, your vicious black cat which has an obsession in chewing cables and destroy everything paper made. You have always want to leave nearby the ocean and Malibu had a ton of opportunities to offer you. You started a yoga class the same week you moved, in order to make some new friends. Accoding to Matt, there are a lot of things to do around the band he is working with, Bad Omens.
You offer yourself as a merchgirl, but since you're a good writer an even better in tolerate people bullshit (you have to be karmatic, all the teens who came to get a piercing to the shop have always made a scene in front of needles), you could be perfect as a PR/assistant for the band. You remember them barely because someway somehow, these are the guys who steal all the time Matt has. Time that you never get.
You remember this four guys with long hair, basic metalheads, except for the drummer. You remember when you gave him the nostril after a show in 2015, maybe 16, and he took it like a champ whitout complaining. You remember the singer, this slenderman type of guy with beautiful long hair that looks like silk. You've never felt more envy of someone else hair like that. And also the other three guys were nice, especially Vincent. The only one who you can connect to a familiar face because you two got a nice conversation on tattoos when you visited Matt, three years ago.
They are nice.
You've heard stories about them at every phone call.
But still, thieves of precious moments that you want have again in your life again between you and your brother.
All the missing birthday, all the call postponed due to technical issues. He wasn't there to pick up your pieces when Shawn get a rid of you.
And Matt wasn't supposed to, but being selfish, you wish he was there.
But he is now and this is enough to bring the light back to your life. The long talks after dinner, movie nights, everything is back to the normal between you two since you moved and it's restoring.
With this wave of good mood, even if you havent forgotten Shawn yet, you enroll to gym, so you can work out after yoga.
And is in this specific place that you meet Eric.
The first time you caught him lurking at you you were running on the thremill.
There is something familiar in him but still, you dont know anyone in LA. You were the one who actually landed the first conctact with this new alien subject, so introvert to avoid your eyes.
《 Today is hot as hell, right?》
Talking about the weather is the easiest card to play. He smiled a bit shily to you before answering. 《 Don't tell me, I hate how hot is in here. Are you new? I've never seen you around》
《 I just moved in with my brother, actually. 》
《 You're a southie for sure. I like your accent.》
You giggle at his words, while he gets some confidence, passing a hand through this short hair. 《 you got me. You don't sound californian as well》.
《 Maybe because I'm not》. There was a moment in which he seemed to be doubtful, like he changed his mind and he didn't want actually to talk with you. He looked at you with a weird expression, like he realised something was off. 《 What's your name?》, he asked then, almost suspicious.
And then you lied. You rarely give your real name to strangers. A self defence mechanism for girls. 《 Vanessa. You?》
He looked more relaxed, 《 Eric.》
《 Nice to meet you Eric... Do you know a nice bar around? 》
《 Maybe I know a place 》 he reflected, smiling a bit malicious. He was definitely flirting. 《 Can offer you a beer or something? Just to welcome you in town.》
You are not ready for a new story yet, but after almost a year after you broke up with Shawn, you needed at least some human conctact. Eric was nice with you since the beginning. He invited you to this dive bar after the gym a couple of times, not far from your place. He paid for you a couple of cocktails while having a real nice Conversation. A superficial one, about the tattoos that covered him. About living in LA. You mentioned your brother a couple of times and he talked about his roomates and all the crazy things they have done during the pandemic.
He told you he is a Producer and you told him you're still unemployed.
One way or another, he got closer to you in a matter of days. And when he kissed you, you obliged and kiss him back. One thing leaded to another and the two of you ended fucking in the back of his SUV. And oh boy... you needed it so much. It was a quickie, but he seemed to be promising. His long fingers stimulated you untill you cried out for pleasure. His mounth divoured you inch by inch. And his cock....
He knew how to use it, let's say that.
After, he gave you his number and the two of you planned to see each other by the end of the week, at the gym, after your yoga class and his class of jujitsu....
The morning after you're fresh and relaxed like you weren't in months. Matt tends to be overprotective so you didn't told him about Eric while you were having breakfast. You need to know this guys deeply before accept that you know have a situationship. And your brother doesn't need to know about you screacting you itchies.
He has a hot temper when someone looks at his dear little sis.
After breakfast you got ready to meet the band again after almost three years.
《 I can't believe Vincent quitted. He was the nicest.》
Matt sighs while driving to the guys' house, mentally focused on the traffic. 《 youll see him when we'll be in Virginia, don't worry. 》
Your eyes slip on streets and houses, wards and parks but you still feel like You're in a new country. You don't know how much it will take to get used to California.
《 here we are》 , Matt says, parking. 《 let's refresh the rules.》
《 Oh c'mon, I'm not twelve anymore》
《 y/n 》
《 alright! I don't have to embarrass you while you're free to be mean on me. I don't have to embarrass myself talking shit just because I'm nervous and if the music sucks, I can't tell your precious Noah.》
《 You can do better but, more or less, that's it. Lets go. I need another coffe and maybe something sweet before start to film the music video. 》
It's so weird filming inside a house and not in a proper set but all this low budget bullshit are quite the normal for small bands, you think.
You have to be their assistant and eventually a PR- so Matt can stop to bitching on twitter all the time- and you know nothing about bands.
According to Matt, you're going to learn quick.
According to Matt. You know that he picked you up for the job so he can force you to write what he wants.
And continuing to bitch around through you.
The guitar player greets you at the door and introduces himself again as Jolly. The rest of the guys minus Noah are in the garage. It's marvelous how Orie, one of the guys who lives here, a director, reorganize the space with tubes and flashlight.
《 What's the name of the song, again? 》 you ask to Nick Folio, whos already youre favorite.
《 Artifical Suicide》 it's the answer, while he takes his place back behind the drums.
《So emo》 it's your honest observation that makes him laught. Matt looks at you in a way that if he could, you would be incinerated where you're standing. You're already embarrassing him.
Nice.
You regret nothing.
It's a lil sister job to make her brother in troubles, that's what pops always says.
Mike brings you a coffe that you accept with a smile, than tells everyone the news about the singer that is still not here.
A diva, of course. That's your first thought. Every singer is a natural diva.
《 He is still looking for the glove.》
《 He would lost his head if it wasn't attacked to his neck》 , a solid comment arrives from Ruffilo, immediatly followed by an annoyed reply from behind you.
《 I can ear you motherfucker. You are- what the fuck?》
You turn in time to face the famous singer and almost choke with the coffe.
《 Yo Noah, do you remember my sister, y/n?》
You see Noah turning pale for a second while trying to say something in return.
You're also speechless for a second, before putting your shit togheter so Matt wont finds out in the first five minutes. 《 Howdy! You... you cut your hair. Nice. I didn't know》
You didn't.
That's why was so easy for Noah to be Eric for almost a week. For a hook up with you. His best friend sister.
....Splendid.
You're fucked.

reading update: july 2023
I don't have a cool and witty opening for this one. I read a fuck of a lot of books this month and I want to tell you about them LET'S GO
Black Water Sister (Zen Cho, 2021) - Black Water Sister has a very fun premise: a closeted lesbian and unemployed recent graduate moves back to Malaysia with her parents and is already having a bad enough time when she starts hearing the voice of her dead grandmother, who turns out to have been deeply involved in supernatural organized crime. our hapless protagonist becomes a medium against her will, and has to navigate to world of Malaysian spirits and superstition to lay her grandma to rest. unfortunately the actual style of the story wasn't more me; although definitely adult fiction, the prose is breezy in a way I affiliate strongly with YA, which is not to my personal taste but is still so hashtag valid. if you're one of the countless people trying to make that jump from YA to adult fiction and you like queer urban fantasy then Black Water Sister might be a great fit for you, although I should provide a warning for a pretty surprisingly graphic near-rape in the book's climax that really took me by surprise in a story that's otherwise pretty zany in its violence.
The Bride Test (Helen Hoang, 2019) - I think I said last month that Alexis Hall's A Lady for a Duke was the best so far of the romance-novel-every-month scheme I'm trying to pull off this year. the Bride Test has pretty swiftly displaced it; have I finally discovered the really good romance novels? (worry not; I know what I'm reading for August and my hopes are. low.) our two protagonists, Mỹ/Esme (her chosen American/English name) and Khai, are both genuinely charming and are pretty strong characters independent of each other, which cannot be said for A Lot of romance protags. despite the absolute insanity of how they met (yes, Khai's mother went to Vietnam and offered, uneducated a poor single mother a tourist visa in exchange for trying to seduce her autistic son. yes, that's shady. don't think about it too hard) and Esme waiting until WAY too late in the game to reveal the existence of HER LIVING HUMAN CHILD, I liked this book a lot. it's silly and heartfelt and I had fun; what else do you need? 5/5 eggplant emojis.
Giovanni's Room (James Baldwin, 1956) - there's probably nothing I can say about Giovanni's Room that I could say that someone smarter and gayer hasn't already said, but god. it really is breathtaking. I so often see this book talked about as a gay tragedy, and honestly that feels like almost too glib of a description. it's a really meticulous dissection of white male masculinity and the claustrophobic constraints there of, and our narrator's claustrophobic fear of divesting himself from the power that he's entitled to by virtue of being a white American man perceived as a heterosexual. this man would rather live in repressed misery for his entire life than risk being like those effeminate faggots at the gay club, but spoiler alert! being miserable doesn't make you better than your fellow fags; it just means you're miserable AND a fag. sharp and painful and so so so smart. also I'm going to summon @zaricats because I was supposed to tell you what I thought about this book. oops!
Lone Women (Victor LaValle, 2023) - okay so listen. did I just say Black Water Sister wasn't really for me because of the simplistic prose? yes. did I really enjoy the very sparse, straightforward style of Lone Women? also yes. leave me alone, I contain contradictions. anyway, Lone Women is a ripping piece of historical fiction spliced with supernatural secrets, based on LaValle's research into 19th century Black women homesteaders who made their lives in Montana. LaValle opens on a scene of irresistible intrigue - Adelaide Henry, lone woman, sets out for Montana with a mysteriously heavy trunk after burning down her family's California farm with her parents' mutilated corpses inside. and boy, does it escalate from there! it's a story about isolation and community and the people who are failed by so-called close knit small towns, and the ways in which vulnerable people band together to protect one another. it also makes the compelling point that maybe, just maybe, the real monsters were your local transphobe and her husband's lynch mob all along.
Black Disability Politics (Sami Schalk, 2022) - what a cool book! Schalk's argument begins with the idea that Black disability politics are distinct from predominantly white mainstream disability politics, and are therefore often overlooked in conversation, activism, and academia. Schalk analyzes the historical work of the Black Panthers and the National Black Women's Health Project to showcase what she describes as Black disability politics in action. in Schalk's conception, Black disability politics take a much more holistic approach to disability, conceptualizing as just one form (and, frequently, as a result of) of oppression tangled up with a myriad of others that cannot be meaningfully addressed when they're treated as separate issues. the book concludes in interviews with contemporary Black disability activists and organizers that shed light on ways in which the wider movement is often unwelcoming to folks of color, and an exhortation from Schalk for readers to continue the conversation well beyond the confines of the book. in a killer show of praxis, the entire book has been made available to read in PDF form, and I strongly recommend giving it a look!
The River of Silver (S.A. Chakraborty, 2022) - mentally I am kicking myself a little for waiting so long to read this continuation of my beloved Daevabad trilogy, because it did take me a minute to get back into the swing and mythology of the world and that did make me feel unpleasantly like I wasn't appreciating these character-focused short stories as much as I could be. but even having said that - man! fuck I love the world of Daevabad, and I adore these characters so much. getting to see them again, even briefly, was a delight, and I am once again congratulating Nahri and Ali on being the invention of heterosexual romance. (also, on a related note, but I ADORE the way Chakraborty writes her characters having crushes. they crush SO hard and it's very sweet. these books are such big drama all the way down.)
Men We Reaped (Jesmyn Ward, 2013) - an absolute powerhouse of a memoir, and devastating the whole way down. in Men We Reaped Ward attempts to make sense of a series of tragedies that befell her community when five young Black men - beginning with Ward's younger brother - died between 2000 and 2004. the word 'unflinching' is hopelessly played out, but it's difficult to figure out how to describe the head-on way Ward explores each young man's life and ultimate end and her own upbringing. the men in Ward's history - her brother, the friends she lost, her father and other male relatives - are never idealized; their demons, miseries, infidelities, addictions, and violence are placed on full display. but Ward is also insistent on displaying these men with dignity, compassion, empathy; showing them at their best and, most importantly, as men who were loved and deserved better than the violence that poverty and racism wrought on them. it's a furious memoir, one that will leave you mourning too.
Nimona (ND Stevenson, 2015) - did I only read this so I can make more informed complaints if/when I end up watching the netflix movie with my wife? YES. but listen, it wasn't JUST petty hater behavior. Nimona is just really good, and I think I got a lot more out of it this time around that I did when I first read it years ago. this comic is wild and unfettered and so spectacularly weird; I wish more things felt the way Nimona does. I also with more things starred small girls begging to kill cops and stage a violent overthrow of the government, that rules hard. also man I love Ballister, he's SUCH a good protagonist. he's curmudgeonly, he's deeply principled, he's held a grudge for years, he's paternal, he's even gay. what a guy!

how do you think they’ll tackle Maria’s character in the 3rd movie? Do you think they’ll make her appear frequently or rarely?
Hello, my dear!❤️✨
I’m terribly sorry for taking so long on your ask. I wanted to make sure that my thoughts and feelings were clear for my answer. I feel that there will be a healthy amount of Maria Robotnik content in the third film. What “healthy amount” means exactly is up for your interpretation.
Throughout the years, we're given a sample of Maria and who she is through video games and TV shows. She doesn't necessarily make big appearances, but we've learned plenty of the little girl that grew up on the Space Colony ARK. With various game titles and character interactions, we see that Maria Robotnik plays a significantly large role in people's lives. She might not get a whole lot of screen time in general, but we—as the audience—can feel how beloved and cared for she was with others. We can feel her pure love and support emitted by found family members, ARK scientists, and others that watched her grow up. Even Sonic, who was born fifty years after the ARK raids by G.U.N., valued her immensely (Sonic Channel Story, 2021). We can painfully see the love that is generously given to a 12-year-old girl. This shows that one or two sentences (I.E. Sonic Battle, Gerald's Journal), or even a flashback is just as fruitful in conveying her purpose of existence and her golden heart.
I can completely understand and appreciate where you are coming from. For a character that makes minor appearances here and there, it's incredible seeing how much her legacy is cared for by those that are still living... and how fans view her. It's It's only fitting that we buy into curiosity and explore her character more. We must understand that Maria Robotnik is important. It's crucial to see how much of an influence she makes to core characters in the third film.
In game canon, we can conclude that nearly everything that occurs has an influence with Maria in mind. Project Shadow almost didn't happen if it weren't for Maria being diagnosed with Neuro-Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (NIDs). If Prof. Gerald Robotnik was not given the opportunity by the United Federations to seek the answers of immortality, then there wouldn't be a strong drive to desperately use government funding to finish making Shadow in order to find a cure to NIDs. Without the compassion and humanity that Maria gives to Shadow, our hedgehog-alien hybrid would most definitely have viewed himself as an artificial weapon. He wouldn't bat an eye on the possibility of being a relatively good person if the idea was not proposed to him. Without Maria, Prof. Gerald Robotnik would never have had the inspiration needed to craft Shadow's soul like Maria's. Without Maria's horrific death, the crippling insanity that Prof. Gerald Robotnik faces would not have been a driving influence to reprogram Shadow's mind to carry out revenge on the planet. This is malicious act that did more harm that good to a literal adolescent if you think about it. And without Maria's entire existence, we might not have the understanding on Dr. Robotnik/Eggman's influence of becoming a mad scientist today.
The third Sonic movie needs establish how beloved Maria was when she alive. The fantastic thing about these movies is that they've left enough wriggle room with subplots (it's heavily implied that Longclaw and her people have engaged with humans and Earth frequently), character interactions (Dr. Robotnik and Agent Stone talking about aspirations of continuing an evil plan that were planned years ago, implying that the United States government knew about aliens and the Chaos Emeralds), and other possibilities (Green Hills, Montana having a Wachowski look after the town for over 50 years; all of the town's memorabilia implying that it's residents were retired government veterans) for us to weave the past into a perfect timeline. Even if Jim Carrey doesn't return to reprise the role of "Dr. Robotnik," we can see that his plans for world domination are honored with Prof. Gerald Robotnik in mind. Agent Stone would acting upon a dead man's wish.
I think that when I say a "healthy amount," I mean that there's enough for us to fill gaps in for places that need them. I hope that this answers your question, my dear.

Book Review: The Many Half-Lived Lives of Sam Sylvester by Maya MacGregor
This book was a mixed bag.
Plot Synopsis from Publisher: "In this queer contemporary YA mystery, a nonbinary autistic teen realizes they must not only solve a 30-year-old mystery but also face the demons lurking in their past in order to live a satisfying life."
This review contains spoilers.
The Good
The author is autistic and non-binary, like the main character. OwnVoices is always nice to see.
The main character's dad, Junius, is a beautiful portrayal of Black fatherhood. One of the best fictional parents of an autistic child I've ever seen. He communicates with Sam their way, is always patient and kind, and is determined to get them what they need to feel safe. No Autism Parents™ here.
Sam was adopted at age 7 after bouncing between foster homes and group homes, and the time it takes them to fully adjust to their new life is realistic.
The portrayal of stimming, including self-injurious stimming, is very accurate.
Sam finds friends who like them for them, instead of having to change themself completely to make friends. Good change of pace from a lot of advice for autistic teens.
Autistic shutdown is correctly identified as a type of catatonia, which as far as I know is the first time that's ever happened in a fiction book.
Sam has very obviously learned a lot of social rules the hard way, like many of us do. There are direct references to learning social rules like what to do at a funeral, what specific facial expressions mean, what appropriate student-teacher conversations are, etc.
Sam does the autism/alexithymic thing where you relate to a story very deeply and have to back up and unpack why. That was very relatable.
The Bad
Sam is supposed to have a pretty morbid special interest in kids who died before 19. The portrayal of this was not realistic. Sam has no trouble hiding their interest when they think other people might feel upset by it. There's no mention of the pressure cooker feeling so many of us get when we want so badly to talk about a SpIn and can't. There's no mention of how having a special interest like that is deeply lonely; not only are people afraid of the subject itself, they're usually afraid of you, too. No one they reveal this interest to is at all perturbed.
There's a bizarre hang-up with Reactive Attachment Disorder, of all things. Sam was misdiagnosed with RAD as a very young child, which is a perfectly reasonable diagnosis to make when you have a severely traumatized, socially withdrawn foster child. The text treats this as some kind of cockamamie diagnosis they were only given instead of autism because they're AFAB.
The author seems to think mental illness means "for no reason," and this is reflected in the way characters speak about RAD. At one point Junius says to Sam, "I met you at that group home, and they told me you had reactive attachment disorder. I saw the hungry way you looked around and the frustration I knew all too well, like you were shouting and everyone pretended they couldn't hear you. I figured... maybe you had a reason not to get attached to people." Having a reason not to get attached to people is literally a key piece of RAD. It's a traumagenic disorder. None of what he says contradicts a RAD diagnosis at all, but Sam and Junius both act like it does.
The portrayal of Montana is about two decades out of date and seems to confuse it with Canada in some spots. There's regular mention of having lived in Airdrie, which is in Alberta, in the same sentence as Missoula, Montana. The main character says there was only one out gay kid in their entire high school in Missoula, in ~2021. Missoula has 73,000 people and a pride parade every year. There is no way there would be one out gay kid, in a public high school, in a town that large at this point in time. There were about a dozen out LGBT+ kids in my high school in my much smaller, less progressive town circa 2013. I mention this because it's important to recognize the ways homophobia, transphobia, and ableism have shifted over the years. Pretending there's no change at all does everyone a disservice.
Verdict: I've read much worse, but I also wouldn't reach for this as an example of spectacular autism representation.

Who is Jennifer “Genevieve” Nicole Padalecki an Incarnation of?
Hello, my name is Ellie. I am a psychic who mostly does pendulum divination work and get messages from various deities, faye and other benevolent beings. I always ask all guides to prove they are who they say they are and also ask to provide ways to show it is them speaking and not an imposter. In this post, I’m going to reveal who Jennifer “Genevieve” Padalecki is an incarnation of.
Jennifer “Genevieve” Nicole Padalecki (Née Cortese) was born on January 8, 1981 in San Francisco, California. Around the age of 13 she moved to Montana and eventually Sun Valley, Idaho. Although it’s a widely known fact she met her husband Jared Padalecki on the set of the television show “Supernatural” where she portrayed the demon Ruby, she also did some stage plays including “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, “Crimes of the Heart”, and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. She also was in the 2007 movie “Salted Nuts” as Jen, the 2004 movie “Death Valley” as Amber, 2005 movie “Kids in America” as Ashley Harris, 2012 movie “Hated” as Veronica, as well as a couple other TV shows including “Wildfire” (2005-2008) as the main character Kris Furillo and recurring character Emily Walker on the show “Walker” (2021 and ongoing).
Tumblr media
So who is Jennifer “Genevieve” Padalecki an incarnation of? Gen is an incarnation of the Greek deity Aphrodite aka Venus in the Roman pantheon. If you haven’t done so already, please read other posts of mine where I discuss things like how incarnations work, so this post makes better sense and other posts like this where I discuss who is an incarnation of who and such.
Aphrodite/Venus in Mythology
Aphrodite in Greek mythology is often portrayed as a beautiful woman that’s sometimes accompanied by Eros the god of lust and sexual desire. She is the Greek goddess associated with love, lust, beauty, passion, and procreation. She was said to be the patron goddess of prostitutes. It’s said that she was born in the sea outside of Cyprus; in some versions of mythology, she was born after Cronus castrated Uranus and testicles thrown into the sea where eventually foam came from the testicles and created Aphrodite who came out of the sea as a fully grown woman. Even the name Aphrodite is interpreted as meaning “foam arisen”. In various artforms, Aphrodite is often depicted nude. Aphrodite was given overall very little specific descriptions in writing, although Homer stated she could be recognized by her “shining eyes and desirable breasts” while other writers mentioned things like a crown of gold or flowers in her hair, adorns much expensive jewelry, and sometimes wearing perfumed and/or silk garments that are closely draped. Her hair is often depicted as being long and often left at least partially down. She is depicted in different places with a wide variety of appearances (ex. Brown hair in some places, blonde in others), due to how little the Greeks described her therefore leaving room for imagination in artist’s depiction of Aphrodite.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Aphrodite married the blacksmith god Hephaestus who was said to be gruff, ugly and lame. She had many lovers including Poseidon, but her longest lasting affair was with the Greek god of war Ares. After Hephaestus discovered Ares in bed with Aphrodite he demanded the return of all wedding gifts to Zeus. Since Zeus refused to honor this calling this a marital dispute and making fun of Hephaestus, Poseidon instead suggested Ares should pay for the marriage gifts and offered to be the guarantor. Poseidon was smitten with Aphrodite when he first laid eyes on her while naked. Although Ares defaulted on the debt, Hephaestus didn’t want a divorce so he never brought up the affair again.
Although there are many stories in Greek mythology surrounding Aphrodite, the other myth I wanted to bring up here is the Judgment of Paris and the Trojan War. To start all of this, all Greek deities except Eris (goddess of discord) were invited to witness the marriage of Peleus and Thetis, who were the parents of Achilles. She chose to arrive with a golden apple that had the word kallistei “for the fairest” inscribed on it and threw it amongst the goddesses. Hera, Aphrodite, and Athena all claimed to be the fairest. Zeus elected to chose the Trojan prince Paris to be the judge of who the fairest one is. At the time, Paris was raised as a shepherd not knowing he is in fact one of the princes of Troy. This is because a few days after Paris’ birth, his mother had a dream of Paris running through the city with a blazing torch and setting it on fire. Because an oracle said this would all come true, Priam ordered for Paris to be taken to Mount Ida and left to die. Some shepherds found him and raised Paris as their son.
Since Paris couldn’t pick between the three goddesses, Hera bribed Paris with power of all of Asia and Europe, Athena wisdom, fame and glory in battle, and Aphrodite promised him the most beautiful woman in the world to be his wife (who was Helen of Sparta). Paris chose poorly, as Helen was already married to Menelaus. This led to Paris finding Helen while in Greece and fled back to Troy with Helen where they eloped. This resulted in the Trojan war that lasted 10 years. Paris was ultimately slain in battle by an archer named Philoctetes. The city of Troy did end up burning up, just not by Paris’ hand.
Aphrodite could be both kind and cruel in mythology. The mortal Psyche who eventually became the Goddess of the Soul was born a very beautiful woman whose beauty was rumored to rival that of Aphrodite’s. Visitors from neighboring countries would visit Greece and shower her with gifts and admirations. Aphrodite being a goddess who does not like being outshone or not properly worshipped, she chose to punish Psyche. She asked her son Eros to shoot her with an arrow so she falls in love with a hideous creature or monster. He instead shot himself when he was looking at her beauty while she was asleep in her bedroom. Eventually after the direction of an oracle led her to sitting on top of a mountain dressed in funerary clothing to meet her future husband (at the time described as a horrible serpent) is where she met Eros who guided her to an invisible palace. Psyche accidentally injured Eros when she took her candle to his face when he was initially refusing to show his face to her and burned him. Aphrodite attempted to punish Psyche by giving her impossible tasks to complete such as separating grains from each other, collecting black water from the River Styx, and obtaining the beauty of Proserpine in a golden box. However, various mythical creatures helped Psyche complete them all. After Eros heard of her struggles while he was healing, he begged Zeus to turn her into an immortal to be with her and agreed, so she became the Goddess of the Soul.
Offerings for Aphrodite/Venus include: pink, red, blue or white objects, honey, chocolate, vanilla, water, sugar, salt, tea, scents or flowers (ex. rose, frankincense, myrrh, vanilla, wildflowers), gems or jewelry (ex. rose quartz, copper, silver, gold, pearl, aquamarine, pearls), animal objects (ex. dolphins, doves, bees, swans) or other objects related to either war, beauty, beachy objects, or any devotional art.
Traits of Aphrodite in Genevieve Padalecki
Gen and her husband Jared have 3 children together, Tom, Shepherd “Shep”, and Odette. Derived from her website nowandgen.com and YouTube channel, Gen talked about her giving birth at home plans with her children. Tom ended up being born in a hospital, Gen used an acupuncturist who delayed her birth when Jared was not there initially, and she went with a water birth for Odette their “water baby”. She also discussed how she and her siblings were also all born at home. It’s not stated if her mom did any water births let alone if Gen was born via water birth. However, it’s an interesting thing to notate here in the context of Gen being an Aphrodite incarnation who was born in the sea. On her website nowandgen.com, she has discussed various things relating to women’s empowerment including advocating for women’s rights during childbirth and stated she planned for her children to be born at home, how to take better care of yourself after giving birth and other forms of self-love, that reading books is not weird, and home gardening. She also mentions having several chickens (14 in all!) as well as a few dogs and a colony of bees. This makes sense as an Aphrodite incarnation, given Aphrodite is a deity of love, beauty and procreation and bees being a sacred insect to Aphrodite.
instagram
I mentioned in a previous post that her husband Jared is an incarnation of Poseidon. I also mentioned in this post that Poseidon became smitten with Aphrodite when he first saw her while nude. An interesting fact to point out about how Jared and Gen first met in 2008 was when they were shooting a scene of Ruby in her underwear in a hotel room while working on “Supernatural”. They also have a sex scene on the Supernatural episode “I Know What You Did Last Summer”.
Gen and Jared made a TOWWN ad a couple years ago regarding being conservative with water and proceeded to “shower together”. Gen also posted 1 photo on her IG where she was nude under her white bed covers with a shirtless Jared not looking at the camera. Some other users here on Tumblr also informed me in the past she made multiple posts including things like a dildo. These things do all seem fitting of Gen to me as an Aphrodite incarnation, particularly seeing as how the TOWWN ad starts with a statement saying "A Valentine's day public service announcement". I also noticed browsing some of her IG posts quite a few of her posts are photos of her being surrounded by wildflowers or being in nature a lot, which also seems fitting as an Aphrodite thing to do, wanting to be surrounded by natural beauty.
youtube
On the show “Wildfire” where Gen played the main Kris Furillo that bonded with a horse named Wildfire, one interesting tidbit I came across while doing research for this post is the theme song is called “Morning Light” by Truman. Venus the Roman equivalent for Aphrodite is often called “the morning star”. It’s also interesting because Aphrodite favored the Trojan prince Paris who King Priam wanted left for dead after an oracle said his wife’s dream of Paris causing Troy to catch on fire. In the 2004 movie “Troy” and in mythology, it was said that Troy caught on fire after the Greeks created a giant wooden horse that the Trojans brought in as an offering to the Greek god of the sea Poseidon. It was after this that the Greeks were able to invade Troy who ultimately are who caused the city to burn down. It is worth noting that their son Shepherd was seemingly named after actor Mark Sheppard. Funny nudge in my opinion, given Aphrodite favored the Trojan prince Paris who grew up as a shepherd...
EDIT (added 11/22/2023 around 8:36pm EST): Also on a darker note, it was while Gen was pregnant with Shepherd is when her sister Sarah fell off a 4 story building and had severe head trauma from it but is apparently doing much better today and is "doing great and kicking us"; it seems her "psyche" stayed intact despite the head trauma. On a funnier note, in recent weeks on Twitter there's an account named archivesmilfs that created a top MILFs list where Danneel Ackles was named number 1 and Gen named number 5. Plenty of Twitter users commented on Gen's post saying things hinting at not knowing her or not agreeing with her being on this list. It's been said by some sources that the number 5 is a sacred number to Aphrodite, as it is said in numerology to represent the nupital number of love and union and also is involved in multiple aspects of creation (5 physical senses, 225 Earth days in a Venus year, being a multiple of 5 and 45)

This post is more of a “me thinking out loud” than anything else, because I get this question a whole lot. It’s about states, specifically what parts of the country are the least religious and which ones are the most religious. That question is posed by potential church planters looking for the most fertile ground to start up a new church. It’s also asked by atheists and agnostics when they are thinking about where would be a good place to move to if they wanted to be around like minded people.
Here’s the thing about that question - it’s not really that easy to answer from a statistical perspective. It seems so tantalizing easy but that’s just not the case. The reason is actually really easy to understand, too. Sample size. That’s it. That’s the tweet.
I don’t think people fully realize how small national surveys used to be. When I was in graduate school, the ceiling was about 3,000 people. Divide that by 50, and you see the problem that I am running in to here. You may get a hundred or more in big states like California or Texas. But you aren’t going to get any real numbers in Vermont or Montana.
I wrote about this in a ton of depth for Religion News Service a couple years ago in post entitled, “How religious is your average 22-year-old? A new golden age of survey data opens a door.” That ‘Golden Age’ has opened the door for folks like me to get a lot closer to the answer about the most religious states and the least religious ones.
The Cooperative Election Study has over 60,000 people in the most recent wave - collected about a year ago. It’s got 129 folks from North Dakota in there! And, 224 from Montana. There are more Californians in the 2022 CES than the entire sample of the General Social Survey in 2021. So, now we can do some state level analysis.
Let’s get right to the maps, then. This is the share of folks who identify as atheist, agnostic, or nothing in particular in the 2008 and the 2022 version of the Cooperative Election Study. I intentionally kept the bins the same in both years to give folks a clear impression of just how fast the nones have risen.
Tumblr media
In the 2008 map at the top, the dark blue tells a pretty clear story - the nones were way more concentrated in the western part of the United States. They were north of 40% in both Washington and Oregon. The only other state that was less religious was Vermont at 42%. There are also big pockets of nones in California, and Arizona, too.
Where weren’t the nones in 2008? The entire mid-section of the country. States like Minnesota and Wisconsin scored really low at 23% and 25% respectively. But of course the Bible belt didn’t have a bunch of nones. Just 23% in Mississippi and 18% in Louisiana. But there were a bunch of states in the low to mid twenties all over the middle section of the country, though.
In 2022, nearly the entire map is a dark shade of blue - meaning at least 35% non-religious. Now there are four states that are more than half non-religious: Washington, Oregon, New Hampshire, and Maine. But there are also lots of states in the mid-forties, too: Nevada, California, New Mexico, and Colorado to name a few.
Outside the Dakotas, the only part of the country that is not dark blue is the Bible Belt. In most of those states about one third of the population is non-religious. That’s the case in Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina. The nones are basically everywhere now and in large numbers. It’s not just isolated pockets in certain states.

When is the campaign against Big Skies?
https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a34795822/big-sky-abc-controversy-backlash/
Wow, thanks for this info, Anon. I'd never heard of this show until this morning since people are now talking about Jensen Ackles being a guest star, so this is obviously all very new to me.
Let me put together a little post about this for people here and now.
Big Sky was and is criticized by Indigenous groups for its cultural insensitivity, because the inspiration for its plot is rooted in a largely-silenced epidemic against Indigenous women and girls specifically. However, the show whitewashes this rather than using it as a teachable moment. The concerns Indigenous groups sent to ABC were not sufficiently addressed.
Clickable link for the URL Anon sent above.
So, here's what Big Sky is about: it's "a series about private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt, who join forces with Cody's estranged wife and ex-cop, Jenny Hoyt, to search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana."
In November 2020, even before the show aired, Indigenous groups and leaders spoke out against the premise of this show. Their overall critique is that the story erases the real-life tragedy of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), who are disproportionately murdered and abducted, particularly in Montana. These Indigenous groups were also behind the documentary Somebody’s Daughter, which is specifically about this crisis.
Here's part of their initial open letter to ABC:
"We write with serious concerns of at best, cultural insensitivity, and at worst, appropriation, in respect to the soon- to-be premiered series, Big Sky. We understand that the plot of Big Sky is based on C. J. Box’s novel The Highway. Unfortunately, neither Big Sky nor The Highway address the fact that the disproportionate majority of missing and murdered women in Montana are Indigenous, a situation replicated across Indian Country, which has made this tragedy an existential threat to Native Americans. To ignore this fact, and to portray this devastation with a white female face, is the height of cultural insensitivity, made even more egregious given the national awakening to the need for racial justice."
Season one was filmed in Vancouver, in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, West Canada. (Later seasons have since been filmed in New Mexicon.) British Columbia is also the area where "the Highway of Tears" is located–as pointed out by Melissa Moses, a representative for the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs (UBCIC), in the article sent by Anon. Highway 16 is called as such because so many women and girls, most of whom are Indigenous, have been murdered or abducted from that stretch of road. The plot of Big Sky echoes this, but makes no sufficient mention of it either in the show or as a PSA connected to the show to use it as a teaching/awareness moment.
The subpar response in December 2020 from the producers in response to the open letter was as follows:
“After meaningful conversations with representatives of the Indigenous community, our eyes have been opened to the outsized number of Native American and Indigenous women who go missing and are murdered each year, a sad and shocking fact. We are grateful for this education and are working with Indigenous groups to help bring attention to this important issue."
However, Tom Rodgers, president of the Global Indigenous Council, stated that he knew of no Indigenous organization working with ABC to rectify the problems. “So we’re interested in learning who ABC is working with, since it is curious that no purported Indigenous partners are named in its statement. In our culture, trust can only be earned, not promised.”
An organized campaign was then mounted by Indigenous groups in early 2021 in regards to this show. Their demands sent to ABC:
“I’m not in the entertainment business. We are not asking them to cancel the show, to put people out of work, no. There is no client here but justice. We want them to tell the truth, not myth making but the true historically accurate Native American story,” Rogers said. The list of demands presented to Kelley, ABC and its parent company Disney include a credit line at the end of each episode so people can educate themselves on the issue. They are also asking for a healing fund for Native American families that have lost their daughters to sex trafficking, and that ABC broadcast “Somebody’s Daughter,” a documentary about murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls. They want ABC to produce a public service announcement on the issue, and a meaningful contribution toward the establishment of an advocacy fund for lobbying efforts.
These demands were not adequately addressed. Apparently ABC attempted to ~remedy~ this by asking "to verify accuracy in the show's depiction of a fictional version of their tribal office and an exterior military seal." One of the scenes took place in a fictitious version of the office of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT).
The Tribes' response:
"This is not how you connect with a sovereign nation. You haven’t offered to share the script, and you have not hired any Native filmmakers. It seems the studio that brought us the animated Pocahontas will continue to tell American Indian stories without Indigenous writers or filmmakers... Shame on you for your unacceptable behavior."
Here is a good resource to quickly educate yourself on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) crisis.
I understand that everyone's excited to see Jensen in a new role, albeit a small one. But if you've not been watching this show previously, based on the sound of this, it's a good idea to not start watching and avoid getting invested so you avoid giving it excessive support. You can look up Jensen's clips if you're interested, enjoy the GIFs, or find an alternative way to watch that episode specifically without contributing to ABC's official streaming numbers, without using Big Sky's hashtags or key words on social media to increase their interest numbers, etc. Be cognizant of this, please.
Consider donating to the nonprofit organization Native Hope–even a very small amount–to help the Indigenous people this affects.
Please also share this post to spread awareness, especially if you're going to be talking about Jensen's scenes in this show.
Thank you so much Anon for bringing this to my attention! I’ve shared this on Twitter as well over at @CharCubed. Everyone feel free to share this post wherever.
All information and quotes in this post are taken from the articles linked throughout, so it should be pretty solid. But if I've misrepresented anything about this Indigenous issue or about Indigenous culture, someone please let me know.

If you had to make 1 album out of separate Jonas Brothers songs, what would it look like? What would the theme be? What order would you put them in, what kind of a story would you tell?
SO! I wrote almost 4k words, but Tumblr won't let me post as such so I can't explain why I put the songs I listed. Just wasted 2hrs of my life. Maybe I'll post my explanation on my non-Tumblr blog next week.
I just am very passionate about these fucking dorks and any excuse to write about them and their music I jump at. I am TRULY obsessed with them.
As far as order, I don’t know. It's in chronological order mostly.
Also limited myself to only the songs they have on Spotify. Otherwise, I’d have included every song from Jonas s1.

School shootings in the US: Fast facts.
This story was originally published on January 19, 2024 by CNN reporter Alex Leeds Matthews. These statics are so stunning I am posting them here.
There have been at least three school shootings in the United States so far this year, as of January 18. None were on college campuses, and three were on K-12 school grounds. The incidents left two people dead and at least eight others injured, according to CNN’s analysis of events reported by the Gun Violence Archive, Education Week and Everytown for Gun Safety.
CNN cross checks these reports of school shootings against school and police accounts and media reports. All incidents of gun violence are included if they occurred on school property, from kindergartens through colleges/universities, and at least one person was shot, not including the shooter. School property includes but is not limited to, buildings, fields, parking lots, stadiums and buses. Accidental discharges of firearms are included, as long as at least one person is shot, but not if the sole shooter is law enforcement or school security.
In the first year of the pandemic, when schools were closed, there was a major decline in gun violence incidents on school grounds. Since then, recent years saw a stark increase in school shootings, with 2021, 2022 and 2023 all setting records since at least 2008. There were at least 82 incidents in 2023, but 2022 was one of the deadliest years, with 46 fatalities, according to CNN’s analysis. That year saw the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 students and two educators were killed and more than a dozen others were injured.
Students and educators have engaged activism around the issue of gun violence, and some educators have quit the profession.
Some states in the south have seen the highest rate of school shootings relative to their populations since 2008, according to CNN’s analysis. Washington, DC had the highest rate — 5 total shootings, more than 0.7 per 100,000 people — while Texas had the most overall with 55 school shootings. Meanwhile, just five states — Montana, Wyoming, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island — had no school shootings in that period, according to CNN’s analysis.

Someone posted a whole video of his album party: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nzlhDV0PaR8&source_ve_path=MTc4NDI0
There was no way I was listening to his screeching, but I skimmed through the talking parts. It gets worse the more you hear. Also he’s already changing his story/lying about some of the songs again
1) Apparently now he’s into Japanese culture. The theme for the album is the various stages in relationships, but also kintsugi pottery. Breaking something apart (read himself) and building it back into something more precious. He got the Narnia makeup artist to turn him into kintsugi for the album cover for the title song Where the Light Gets In.
2) He’s now changed the story (lied) about Nevermind from being about heartbreak, to now claiming he wrote it with (Kevin???) during the pandemic about anxiety.
3) Stolen Time is where it gets interesting, cause he insinuated he was involved with someone when S&B season 2 started filming. The song is about time and distance and the world (pandemic) keeping people apart, but about two people in different time zones trying to connect to each other. He said he was miserable and “missing someone”, but also said Calahan wrote part of the song. Calahan was actually going through a break up at the time, so how much of the song is about him??? And Benny was just a pining loser. Also, wasn’t that winter when Jules was dating that Charlie guy.
4) He also pathetically shouted out the Save the Crows Netflix petition. Also there is a sex song. Eww
5) The Three New Hearts song about getting his heart broken three times (Jules?) is his favorite
6)Someone said he had a song about telling someone he wouldn’t wait for them Someday, but it’s apparently it’s about bastardizing Dylan Thomas’s poetry. Which is somehow worse. He brought up the English degree though, because he will never let people forget
FIRST OF ALL! thank ye for your sacrifice muffin, here's a potato for ye 🥔🥔🥔
And here's the link
youtube
1) Kintsugi? Where the Light Gets In (Let the Light In much lol)? Me thinks someone got himself Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd on vinyl xd
2) So the shitty lyrics were actually group attempt? Even worse lol
3) WHAT YE MEAN SOMEONE IN DIFFERENT TIME ZONE WHEN HE WAS IN HUNGARY? But the twitter girlies told me he was sharing same hotel room with Jessie? Valentines day hotel backpack 2 years anniversary soon x.x ANYWAY if I remember well, twin flame and the spiritual healing tongue guy were together like late 2021 like a few weeks after the EP premiere when he was in Canada?? and then he was in Hungary from January till like almost summer? And I remember something about gym bros and some trips they took cuz Calahan was big sad yesssss
4) Can't figure out why ye put these two in one lol maybe cuz he a paid whore? And now he thinks he can do like sweet gentleman lil puppy's version of AC/DC's The Jack?
5) Only three times? I would say we can count more bulianne break ups buuuuuuuut maybe it's because of the three big pap outings? the pandemic stroll with hubby away, the Montana/ice cream date, and then the NY birthday week?
6) Have nothing of substance to say actually lol he should have go for William McGonagall for shits and giggles
