just watched the new ghostbusters movie with my friend and truly, awkward teenage lesbians will both end and save the world.

#guys i have a type #blonde girls who are manipulated due to/by family and end up fighting for the side of good anyways #i saw melody and her Issues™️ and got attached to a dead girl #her whole thing with phoebe was gay as fuck tho you cant convince me #they did the thing that natasha did in what if to peggy where she looked back at Phoebe longingly and then stepped into the light #truly a tragedy that she was. yknow. dead and her whole arc was moving on into the afterlife #so she couldn’t have a sapphic little relationship with mckenna grace #some of the writing was kind of weak and it felt like a lot of fan service cause a lot of the characters didn’t do anything during #the climax of the movie or i just didn’t care for their story #but it’s really fun as a movie itself and i highly enjoyed myself so honestly that’s all that matters to me #ghostbusters frozen empire #phoebe spengler #melody ghostbusters #nat’s rambles

One thing I love about mutant mayhem is that Leo has a crush on an April who’s not conventionally attractive. It almost feels like, because of the turtles’ isolated upbringing* he hasn’t been influenced by the popular western beauty ideals and just thinks this ordinary human is beautiful! And I think that’s really cool! Because she is!

*though they’ve clearly been exposed to celebrities and other pop culture so ?? idk lol

when ppl get too caught up in the accuracy of situations in fanfiction or if things are super realistic or as they should/would be in real life etc etc im like. my tumblr user in christ. it's fanfiction.

#ff writers don't get paid to put hollywood level research into their stories lol #also keep in mind ff writers don't have professional editors either #ALSO i've read a lot of published books and watched massive scale high budget production tv shows/movies that have put way less #effort into researching n making sure things are cohesive n legit compared to some fanfics i've read #js thinking ab a m00tie who had an anon come for her for something like this n i'm still pissed ab it #just enjoy the fic you're getting to read for free #like obv i think realism makes for a great story and is part of what good writing entails #but?? it's ok to bend the rules in some places?? it's a STORY #that's like getting pissed at a fantasy book for having dragons cuz they don't exist irl #just say u have a bad imagination n go #the author's pen is the will of the world in the story perioddd #either accept them or dont. but don't make fun of or criticize authors if you're not fuckin w it when ur just sittin behind a keyboard #also sometimes i just wanna read stories that don't remind me of the harsh truths of reality lmfao like get outtaaa heeerreee #just writer things

#i've made this disclaimer on another post but will again since i've seen a lot more of the movies now #the movies are VERY good and very enjoyable but unfortunately the first handful are bogged down by transphobic/homophobic/okama stereotypes #they kind of vary in their severity. Movie 5 i think is the biggest catalyst because it features the stereotyped characters the most #prominently. Movie 3 doesnt really have caricatures per se but saves a very backhanded reveal for the end #Movies 1 and 4 are a bit more tolerable if my memory is correct. Movie 2 i think is kind of comparable to Movie 5 with its caricatures #in that the characters have similar roles in both movies #i admittedly can't remember what caricatures there were in Movie 6 or 7. 7 i think barely had anything #RAMBLE RAMBLE BASICALLY: these jokes are within the first 7 movies or so 5 being the zenith then reducing down and down. by movie 8 it's sa #e #i give these disclaimers because these movies are all very enjoyable and i would not recommend them if i didnt think there wasnt any merit #o them. they are all very much worth watching. Movie 5 still has a lot of very enjoyable stuff in it (there's a showdown in a supermarket!!#but i just want to make sure that is clear and established since transparency is good to have and i dont want anyone's viewing experience t #be ruined because they weren't given the proper warning #if it's any consolation it's my understanding that even the directors hated doing the jokes #iirc Keiichi Hara really didn't like doing the jokes and i think had a talk with the mangaka Yoshito Usui and was like 'uh dude this is #gonna age horribly can we maybe not'#ironically Hara's first film is Movie 5. which is again the biggest offender #BUT! that is my spiel. my understanding is that it's contained to those 6 or 7 first movies and i think is strictly just a movie thing #so please do give these films a watch but just be mindful at the same time #if anyone needs recommendations my favorites have been movies 4 and 9 but i genuinely really enjoyed every one that i have seen #i've seen the first 11 and a half movies (need to finish 12) and movie 22. the worst i've felt about one is 'oh that was pretty good!'#each film has its own merit and is very very very much worth watching #22 was the first Shin-chan anything i watched and all my Shin-chan expert friends say 4 is a good introductory piece #in case that influences anything/makes it easier to break in #so. thus concludes my spiel #csc #vid

#the sea beast #chris williams #it's a very good children movie #with emphasys on children #which means that while i enjoyed the themes and the story and the characters #everything was very explicitly stated and it spent a lot of time establishing things that... didn't need establishing for an adult #anyway a nice watch and i will recommend it to friends with children #films i watched in 2023 #i made this #i just want a tag for the things i personally put out into the world

was anyone going to tell me that the lead in to the climax of this arc is bruce and jason watching bludhaven get bombed under the assumption that dick is still there. that it's happened again. that bruce will never make it there in time. that everything is falling apart with OMAC and that all of bruce's "precautions" have led to nothing but failure and destruction and it's happened again.

Watching the Percy Jackson series and pointing to the screen every time something I remember from the books happens or any time foreshadowing for a future scene happens. I love finally having a book accurate Percy Jackson adaptation

#my one criticism of the show so far is that it feels a bit too corporate/major studio. like it doesnt yet quite feel like it has that magic #it feels like a bit like some marvel movies where like its good overall but something feels like its missing #hoping it'll be better in the future episodes though bc overall i enjoyed this a lot #i cant wait for everything else! im so excited for the hotel and the tunnel and medusa and percy fighting ares #and everything #this is making me feel like a kid again aaaaaaugh #percy jackson series #percy jackson #percy jackson and the olympians
