I Rank TWST Characters Based on Whether or Not I Find Them Physically Attractive or Not (Not Clickbait)

Eventually I’ll collect the braincells to finish one of my many x reader fic drafts and post it. But for now, watch me shallowly judge TWST characters and rank them based on my own specific tastes. Yes, you are free to judge and share your own thoughts. I love being told I’m wrong.~ uwu

All characters are 18+

Explanations under the read more. Yes, there is a method to my madness.

‘Cause the tier list didn’t include them, Neige is in Tier 5 and Che’nya is in Tier 4.

And good lord I ended up rambling way more then intended. I should have just said I find them pretty or ugly and called it a day. Guess that single exhausted braincell really was working overtime for this.

Tier 1 - My Own Personal Tastes

Says it right there on the tin. The loves of my life jk jk

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start with these? I just find these boys really pretty and attractive... I tend to lean towards males with longer hair (Jamil & Idia) and animalistic traits like sharp teeth or ears (Jack, Idia, & Jade). I especially love Jade and Idia’s smiles, both are so creepy, but I’m the weirdo that’s into that. I also have a thing for body marks like freckles and moles (Azul) and actually find some short guys to be cute (Riddle). There’s also the elephant in the room that is my monster lover self that’s into a wide range of non-human creatures; Jack being a wolf beastman, Jade being an eel mermaid, Azul being a cecaelia, and even Jamil having serpent traits and Idia being not entirely human what with his Hades-inspired undead aesthetic.

Most of it just boils down to aesthetics in their design and the fact that most of them, aside for Riddle, has some kind of in-human quality to them. There are other factors at play, but those are the main ones.

Tier 2 - They’re Attractive, But Lack Spice

Basically, I also find them to be very attractive, but they don’t quite hit those specific tastes when it comes to their overall design. Usually it’s because they either lack something or a certain trait throws off the whole design for me. Like Kalim sharing many traits I like in Jamil, but having other traits that hold him back (having shorter hair, having too much going on with his design, having a more childish demeanor, etc.). Epel is very pretty in a superficial way, and I’ve always loved characters with lavender hair, but he looks too young at times and is working on becoming more manly, which will ruin his more delicate features in my opinion.

Silver is like an older version of Epel, but with silver hair and a knightly aesthetic, but he also always looks to angry, which makes him unapproachable. Ruggie is pretty cute to me with a roughish edge (and I just want to pet his adorable ears, please), but I can’t get past how malnourished his design makes him look sometimes due to the oversized clothes. Sebek has a very unique design, being half-human, half-fae, but similar to Silver, he usually looks so angry and stern. He has a beautifully mirthful smile and I just wish they’d show off his chompers more!

Tier 3 - They Have Their Moments

They’re only attractive in very specific instances that usually heighten certain physical traits of theirs. This can include a wardrobe change, a certain facial expression, a scenario, etc. I don’t quite find them attractive on their own, but rather, only when it’s in tandem with something else. Malleus looked best in the trailer for the game when he’s floating out of his coffin. He looked dark, mysterious, yet dangerously alluring. But in game, he kind of resembles a rat, what with his weird mullet hair. Rook and Floyd both pull off the dangerous predatory, yet attractive vibe, but ultimately are only portrayed as quirkily scary in the game (i.e. they kind of look like creeps/psychos). Lilia has his whole Gothic punk thing going on, which is fine, especially when he acts more wild and playful. However, I kind of wish he had a “true form” where he actually looked older/was taller, instead of looking younger than the rest of the cast. Yeah, it’s funny in theory, but doesn’t give him much attractive points.

Tier 4 - Average Joe

On a surface level, they would be considered attractive to some, but ultimately don’t have anything that really separates them from others. For me, it’s that one or two traits ended up holding them back from breaking the mold, or they have traits that tend to be overused and thus, makes me feel like I’ve seen them before in other characters.

If Leona was darker skinned and his overall design really leaned into the feral lion look, he would be higher. If Divus had more canine-features like fangs or something, he’d be higher. Deuce looks like a generic anime protagonist, but a good color scheme going. Che’nya is just another Disney cheshire neko boy with a quirky design. Sam needs a rework on his color scheme and should have more skull face paint (yes, even more so than the original JPN ver.) And as for Vil, I really think they should have given him a different hairstyle. I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand his hair color and style. It reminds me of an onion.

Tier 5 - Not My Thing, but They’re Not Ugly

I don’t find them ugly, but I really do not care for how they look. Nothing about their designs are appealing to me in that way, but I can see why others would. Cater, Ace, and Trey don’t have anything with their design that stands out to me. The closest thing was Ace’s Ghost Wedding attire and slicked back hair, but it was only a one time thing, hence why he’s not in Tier 3. As for Prof. Trein, for an older gentleman, he still looks fairly good. He has a refined look to him and is well kempt, but I’m not into older dude’s like that, so no. Neige is cute and definitely captures Snow White’s vibe, but his outfit is just all over the place to me and contrast so much.

Tier 6 - ew

They’re just ugly. I’m sorry, but they’re just so unappealing to me why do some people find them attractive I just-?! Crowley is so weird looking to me, which is disappointing ‘cause I love bird-related designs and he had the potential but ended up looking like an unkempt, Gothic carnival reject, instead! Yes, I’ve seen the fanart with his mask off and I still find him unattractive. As for Vargas, I’ve just never been into the muscley type of men with the strong chiseled face.

Other

Grim and Lucius are literal cats and and I can’t see Ortho as anything but a little brother (yes, I’m aware he’s around the 1st years age). He probably would fit under Tier 2 if he wasn’t so baby.

dream job: character designer for video games!!! + general graphic design n world design n stuff like that. i love LOVE designing things, especially characters, its been one of my biggest and longest passions in my life !!! characters are my absolute fave thing to enjoy and work on, and i hope to one day create characters others can fall in love with like i have for many characters!!!

the sonic series i think is a good representation of how im unashamed to be genuine to myself, positive and loving what i love and not caring about being cringy. and it absolutely influenced my love for rockin music, colorful series with darker stories, and edgy antiheroes lol.

maybe system of a down would be a good thing to mention here too, i love all of their music and they definitely have rockin high energy music that can get really wacky sometimes, and ive always had a love for weird shit and identified with being weird!

well for ones i know how to play- well i used to know how to play anyways- i played the clarinet in band! n at some point i got an ocarina n tried learning that but never worked on it much. i used to be able to play a couple little tunes on it tho (like the jigglypuff song from the pokemon anime. or part of it at least). someday ill get back to it...

for my fave instruments... id probably say the violin and piano. i really love the sound of them, and i like how much emotion they can evoke!

aesthetic: oh god where do i even begin gkdkfbdkf i have a MILLION aesthetics i love lol. lovecore is probably my biggest one though, but i also love tech/glitchy stuff, gems, mermaid/ocean, general nature/flowers, clown/carnival, christmas, halloween, witchy, punk/goth/scene/emo (together since there can be some overlap between the aesthetics, ik theyre not the same), night/dreamy, space, yandere for a darker twist on lovecore stuff, and much much more. i love anything from pastel n cute, to neon and dynamic, to dark n creepy. i just!! absolutely adore aesthetics!!! its what im all about!

What’s your favorite number?

7 because it was usually my assigned number in elementary school. There was a whole system where we all had numbers after our names that we had to put on the top of our assignments, and because it went in alphabetical order, and because my school was small and the class configuration rarely changed, I was writing "Cora - 7"* at the top of my assignments for years. So a fondness for the number 7 kinda stuck.

*Cora is not my real name but wouldn't you like to know.

What is your job?

Technically the things I am currently employed to do and receive financial compensation for are administering neuropsych assessments to children and then a second part time job as a care aid for a disabled woman.

Arguably my dissertation is my real full time job, except no one pays me to do that. Actually, I pay them so that I can do that. So...

If you could go back to school, would you?

Absolutely not, I'm still trying to get out of school! (one more year one more year one more year...).

Can you parallel park?

Technically, yes. Skillfully? Eh...

A job you had that would surprise people?

None of my past jobs have been all that surprising, I think...human services and customer service, haven't we all been there? Maybe the day camp for disabled kids was a little bit unique.

Do you think aliens are real?

I think it's incredibly arrogant to assume we're the only planet in an ever-expanding universe to have developed life, so yes. What that life looks like, however, is up for debate.

Can you drive a manual car?

I cannot, but more than one person has threatened to teach me.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

British period dramas. And recently, Taylor Swift. I got caught up in the cultural moment of the Eras tour and it turns out when you're not just listening to the pop radio hits, she's a helluva writer. "Would've, Could've, Should've" did unfortunately alter my brain chemistry. I refuse to call myself a swiftie though, I will not be associated with...any of that.

Tattoos?

None yet, but I have a couple ideas- I want "she rules her life like a bird in flight" with some little birds next to it, possibly on my shoulder? Then I want a monarch butterfly on one of my forearms, probably the left, and finally a latin phrase that's connected to my family, I'm thinking on the underside of one my upper arms, again probably the left arm. Undecided on that though, because if I do the butterfly on the left arm maybe I should do the lettering on the right? Or vice versa?

...this is why I haven't committed to anything yet on top of them being expensive.

Favorite color?

Historically, yellow, but more recently blues and purples.

Favorite type of music?

Usually I go for a rock/pop punk sound. But also showtunes. And sometimes just regular pop. I'm kinda basic idk.

Do you like puzzles?

...in video games, sure. Actual table top puzzles? Eh.

Any phobias?

Wasps. Heights. The general concept of death.

Favorite childhood sport?

Ballet and tae kwon do (I almost made it to black belt but then college happened).

Do you talk to yourself?

Constantly. Often as if I'm talking to other people. Sometimes to my snake, Sammy.

What movies do you adore?

Kiki's Delivery Service, Mary Poppins, Anastasia, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and I have a soft spot for 2000s teen movies (think Mean Girls, Freaky Friday, Bring It On). Also, unfortunately, the Harry Potter movies are permanently imprinted on my brain and I cannot disentangle them from some of the most special parts of my childhood. Azkaban in particular is strongly linked to my relationship with my best friend/sister in spirit.

Coffee or tea?

Tea but coffee is growing on me.

First thing you wanted to be growing up?

I think it was veterinarian? That's the first thing I remember anyway.

Of course my Anonymous Sugar-Bee I'm still doing those prompt things. And this sounds perfect to do. Now I am going off my versions of the characters. Each I haven't talked enough about or done anything with.

I also like to include XJ-9 as the fifth member because I adore her. And I'm not a huge fan of Tak.

Alias: Danny Phantom, Ghost Boy, Invisi-Bill

Real Name: Danny Fenton

Age: 16 years old

Gender: Cis Male He/Him

Sexuality: Heterosexual? (he prefers the opposite sex though he's willing to date other genders if he loved the person enough.)

Occupation: B Average Student, Science Major at Nickolas High School, Junior Astronaut

The Leader of the group known as Nickolas City's Unite or UN as people call it. He's been working as a superhero for two years. Though he mostly handled ghosts and other supernatural beings before forming a hero team with the other members. He was dubbed the leader for reasons even he's confused about. But has been doing the job well enough. He's like a big brother figure for a lot of the members. Often stepping into their affairs trying to help and or fix situations that might have nothing to do with them.

Timmy Turner: Danny sees Timmy like a little brother at times. He goes out of his way to help Timmy with his emotions and even with homework. He even tried to convince Timmy to live with him once he learned about his living situation. (Aka a street kid) They play video games, read comic books, and eat junk food until their hearts give off.

Jimmy Neutron: Funny enough despite seeing Timmy like family. Jimmy is his actual younger cousin. (Judy, Maddie, and Alicia were separated for years.) Danny sees Jimmy as some of the smartest on the planet. They often talk about theories and space travel. Jimmy's been to other planets, so Danny likes to listen in on the juicy details about space. I guess his only problem is Jimmy's lack of communication. They've argued because Jimmy refused to talk about the issue, ask for help, or apologize ever.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Bob and Danny can hang out for hours. Something about that mermaid like boy that makes Danny giggle. But he also repeats Bob for being able to balance, work, school, hero work, and everyday live without a complaint. Makes Danny think he's more capable seeing someone else manage. If anyone is able to keep Danny sane it's the Sponge-kin.

Jenny Wakeman: Jenny was the first hero Danny was able to work missions with. She figured out his secret identity on accident. So Danny confessed. Which worked perfectly as Jenny isn't that versed on the paranormal and Danny never fought an alien. So they were able to work together happily. They tell dad jokes together. Tuck and Dani are besties. He's only problem is he knows she has a crush on him. He figured it out early on. He was flattered at first but he doesn't want to upset her.

Real Name: Jimmy Neutron

Age: 15 years old.

Gender: Cis Male He/Him and or They/Them (easier for non-human species)

Sexuality: Pansexual (He's open to everything. Doesn't have to be human either.)

Occupation: A+ Student, Science Major at Nickolas High School, Minor Galactic Criminal

The Brains of the team. He personally wanted to be the leader but thing didn't go as planned. Still Jimmy is willing to do his part no matter what it might be. Provide a secret base, equipment, be the teams medic (even for the robot), he even bribed Timmy by doing his homework for an entire semester. He's annoyed but does it because someone has to do it. That and he doesn't like admitting it but he likes them.

Timmy Turner: Out of everyone in the group. Timmy is his bestfriend. Which is way they fight so much. Who else call you a punk ass bitch with full confidence more than your best friends. That and Timmy is stubborn. While Timmy is his bestie that will destroy shit with. Timmy is also the second person he's argued with throughout his life. It doesn't help that Timmy is magical which annoys Jimmy. He thinks magic's too easy and unproducible. You can hurt thousand without trying. At least with Science it's slow.

Danny Phantom: Jimmy's cousin and one of the only people 16 years old he repeats. Danny takes everything into note which makes Jimmy feel like he's appreciated. Though it annoys him that Danny has never tried to explore and experiment anything in the Ghost Zone. He has the golden opportunity. He also doesn't understand why Danny wants to keep his identity a secret. He's parents would try to kill him less, school would be more easy on him like it is with Jenny.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Bob remains Jimmy of Carl at times. Except Bob has to sleep in water. That sponge has tried to steal his devises to play around with. Has accidently lost his invisible hamster. And keeps rearranging his lab around despite Jimmy telling him not to every single time. But Jimmy does enjoy the humanoid sea creature.

Jenny Wakeman: Jenny is a saving grace. Jimmy panics without some type of technology on hand. Lucky for him Jenny is there whenever he calls. Though he doesn't like being babied by her. Nor treated like her "little" brother when she's technically 6 years old. Though as much as he hates to admit it. He enjoys having her there from time to time. He's gone out of his way so she can have citizenship and fix her sisters up so they can live her her full time.

Alias: Abra-Catastrophe, Former Clift The Boy Chin Wonder

Real Name: Timmy Turner (He prefers Timmy Cosma but legally he has to go by Turner)

Age: 14 years old

Gender: Cis Male He/Him (Though he personally doesn't care what you call him)

Sexuality: Pansexual (He loved Trixie as both a girl and a boy.)

Occupation: Thanks to Jimmy he's currently a B student, D average Student otherwise, Art Major at Nickolas High School

The Lancer of the team and the only magic user. As Danny's more science when it comes to the supernatural. Timmy often relies on magic to help him which causes more problems being he's still learning how to use it. She's kind of the punk kid doing things for shits and giggles until something serious comes along. Then you get you to see his real self.

Danny Phantom: Timmy is a superhero fanboy through and through. Even if that famous hero is only two years older than him. That and Timmy is use to magical beings more than regular humans. But Danny's even cooler being he's a unique type of magical being. They act like brothers for most of the time. Though Timmy hates it when Danny tries to intervene with his life. Especially his home life. It causes the two to argue for days. Timmy prefers to fix his problems on his own.

Jimmy Neutron: It takes a lot to become one of Timmy's part of his inner friend circle. It took three city-almost-in-ruin events. But now they're besties. Timmy thinks Jimmy's inventions are awesome and loves to test them out with Bob. Jimmy can't say the same for Timmy's magic. But hey it is what it is. Though Jimmy is rather bossy and arrogant at times. Which causes Timmy to argue with him in the hopes it would cause he's ego to deflate. It doesn't but hey, it is what it is.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Timmy is willing to stab others for Bob. That's his buddy. Bob seems like an innocent guy wanting to help for the greater good. Timmy respects that because that generosity is hard to find. Though he thinks Bob is a doormat. He's often tried to get him to toughen up. Teach him how to flip people off. Bob knows full and well how, but doesn't see the point in it. So Timmy flips people off for him.

Jenny Wakeman: Again fanboys. Though unlike Danny he's not comfortable with opening up to her. I lot about his past and the many small crimes he's committed has caused him to fear when she'll rat him out. Otherwise he treats her like a sister, as she insists to be looked at as one.

Alias: Sponge-Boy

Real Name: SpongeBob SquarePants

Age: 17 years old

Gender: Cis Male He/Him

Sexuality: Asexual

Occupation: Manager of on land Krusty Krab, C average student, Business Major at Nickolas Nigh School.

Bob is the heart due to his comedic responses and heartwarming demeanor. He sees the good in everyone and believes in giving one hundred chances. Sadly this sort of view is what gets him in trouble like all the time. He does his best to impress others and has quickly jumped to outlandish assumptions. But he's proven important to the team time and time again. Bob has admitted though "he feels like a fish out of water" when it comes to the hero life.

Timmy Turner: They get along beyond well. Bob has no idea what a fairy is but thinks they're really pretty. They hang out almost all the time. Bob also has tried to follow Timmy advise. The word is try being the thought of losing his job hurts more than death. So he's kept his words and fingers to himself.

Jimmy Neutron: Jimmy like Sandy is the smartest person ever. He allows knows how to have fun. Even though Jimmy doesn't want Bob is mess with any of his things. Or the fact that Jimmy hates Patrick more than vampires hate the sun. Which breaks Bob's spirit a small bit but it is what it is.

Danny Phantom: Danny's great. He believes in Bob. Includes him in everything important. Which makes Bob feel like an actual member to the team. As if he's slowly becoming like his favorite superhero. That and ghosts scare him so Danny helps.

Jenny Wakeman: His past experience with robots didn't go well but he likes Jenny anyway. Even though Jenny can't visit his house or stand too close to him due to her being weak to water. But you can be friends with someone from across the room.

Alias: XJ-9

Real Name: XJ-9 (she prefers Jenny Wakeman.

Age: Mentally and Physically 16. Otherwise she's 6.

Gender: Trans Female She/Her (she was made genderless)

Sexuality: Asexual (willing to date. but no sex.)

The Bronze of the team. Often going in to fight the villain without thinking on how to do so. She's also quick tempered. Though she's still sweet in her own way. Created to the be a superhero and longing for a regular teenage life. In an consent battle with her programming, her mother, and her own wants.

Timmy Turner: She sees Timmy as a pain. She wants to be besties with him like she is with Jimmy but he's distant with her. Though they seem to get along well enough. Jenny has saved Timmy and Danny from bullies so often that people stopped bullying him for a long time. To return the favor though she never asked. Timmy poured red dye on Brit and Tiffs white clothes.

Jimmy Neutron: Her soul brother. Jenny's use to geniuses. Which causes her to know how to talk to them. She watches documentaries with him and joins Jimmy on shit talking the video if it's insanely inaccurate. Though she's not letting his treatment towards Boibot go. Jimmy built him and threw him away. She doesn't care if he built him his own parents. He threw the boy away. She's gone out of her way to force the two to bond.

Danny Phantom: Danny isn't the first teen hero she's met though he's her favorite. She developed a crush on him fast. She tries to ignore her feelings because friendship is more important. But he has Icy blue eyes. Those are her favorite eye color on a guy! Besides that they work well together. She often punishes the boys when they're fighting while Danny comforts them. As if he's the mom and she's the dad.

SpongeBob SquarePants: He's sweet but he seems scared of her. Plus she can't really touch him without having to get repaired by her mom. Though Bob and Danny are pretty much immortal so if she has too she'll train with Bob.

Let's talk about animal-anime girl hybrids other than the most common types (cat, dog, wolf, fox, rabbit, mouse, snake, bat)

There are a lot of well known and charismatic animals that rarely get to be anime girls despite being easy to design.

The Virginia Opossum is adorable and its silly black ears, varied coat, and little black socks are all very evocative for how one might design an opossum girl. They have lovable personalities similar to the somewhat more popular raccoon girls, and they're marsupials which means an opossum girl could make for a very wholesome mother. And yet I've barely seen any opossum girls, even though they are wonderful every time someone makes one! This is a crime against God's Creation.

The lack of Spotted Hyena girls may be even more offensive. They are intelligent and charismatic animals with a distinct ear shape and fur pattern, a highly personified vocal behavior that everyone knows about, a reputation as punks and troublemakers, AND they femdom! What more could you possibly want? What better candidate could there be for an animal girl? Hyena girls would girlboss all over any other type of girl in any situation. If humans all still lived in Africa there would be no distance clouding our judgement and we would easily place hyena girls as the most common type of animal girl.

I'll just mention a few other animals that would easily be adapted into wonderful girls, which I still haven't seen much at all, especially outside of Kemono Friends. Giraffe, Beaver, Komodo Dragon, Armadillo, Sloth, Salamander. There must be an endless list of charismatic animals that beg to be immortalized in the sacred form of the anime girl!

But outside of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, it does become more difficult to personify animals in this way. While I do not understand why we don't see more depictions of our lovable friends the hyenas who we clearly do not deserve, I do understand why there aren't many girls based on insects, for example. Their features are just harder to map onto human bodies. There is a pretty decent precedent for fish girls in mermaids, but this is achieved in a very different and less graceful way than how one creates a catgirl. I like mermaids and I LOVE snake girls, but there's something very different about the way they adopt their animal traits. This speaks highly of our will to bridge the gap between animal and girl, but it also speaks of the increasing difficulty across the animal kingdom. Yet just because it's hard, can we truly say that we shouldn't try? Of course not! There are so many wonderful fish and bugs and molluscs that need us to let them be anime girls! It is our moral duty as humans to encourage this!

Consider the Moray Eel! Can you picture its beautiful flowing body, and its adorably goofy face? I see a delinquent squatting in an alleyway with a clueless expression and a long, green ponytail, who wants to intimidate you with her gaping jaws but secretly wouldn't mind if you came a little closer. Or would you prefer to give her an eel tail? There could be many ways to design a fish girl, and it's up to artists with the will and an eye for design to truly make it reality. I've seen some great stuff, but it's not as common as I think it deserves to be.

My most coveted invertebrate design is to see a Velvet Worm girl, but as far as I know it's never been done. They are cute, they have charismatic antennae and legs, they ensare prey in sticky goo (wish a girl would do that to me), they are smart, AND they femdom. They are perfect, they would make perfect anime girls, and their absence is an affront to the dignity of the human soul! I want to see a velvet worm anime girl very badly. It is a spiritual need.

And what of the prehistoric animal girls!? I have seen many wonderful dinosaur girls, but they should only be the tip of the iceberg! Where are the gorgonopsid girls? Look it up if you don't know, they would be very cool and very strong and delightfully scary. And Dimetrodon? Imagine all the beautiful anime girls you could create with that sail as inspiration. Where are they? Perhaps the biggest crime of all, trilobites did not girlboss around the ocean for hundreds of millions of years only for one sole human to bear the incredible duty of drawing them as anime girls alone, Atlas-like:

There should be giant statues of trilobite anime waifus outside of every museum.

Anyway thanks for reading my rant about animal girls. I have not run out of grievances and it will happen again. Hello! This was very fun to put together and I really enjoyed my journey down memory lane in doing so🤗 Full disclosure, this list is all fics from 2016 or earlier bc I stopped regularly reading fic around then, but these are my very favorites. These are all either AO3 or PDF links because some have been deleted, and I'm sure I'm missing some (it's hard to keep track when so many have been deleted and my AO3 bookmarks are not as comprehensive as they could be). Happy reading, friend!

Wear It Like A Crown (zarah5, 141k, E): The first fic I ever read in this fandom and it remains my very favorite to this day! Royalty AU in which Louis is part of a team of PR fixers hired by the royal family to spin a photo of Prince Harry getting some with his bestie, Zayn. Enemies (ish) to friends to lovers, grand gestures, tragic backstory, and remarkably well-written communication issues. Zarah is one of the most beloved fandom authors and has written some classics, but this one is my personal favorite.

These Inconvenient Fireworks (mdasch & everydaysalike, 190k, E): The OG fandom classic for a reason. Louis is a drama teacher and Harry, an aspiring photographer, starts coaching soccer football at the same school part-time. Friends with benefits ensue, but there's a lot of angst as they try to figure out what the fuck they're doing and what they really are to each other. Major OT5 feels, funny as hell, heartbreaking - it's everything you want in a fic.

Allies in Heaven, Comrades in Hell (rockinaintnowalkinthepark, 265k, E): Catholic school AU. God, this one just punches you in the dick. I love it so fucking much. Louis and Harry are classmates and Louis realizes he's really into Harry. Unfortunately, his father is violently homophobic, and when he and Harry get together, he's terrified of the possible consequences. Major warnings for violence and homophobia, so if that's not your cup of tea you might want to stay away. I however am a sucker for angst with a happy ending and this fic delivers.

And Down the Long and Silent Street (whimsicule, 89k, M): THIS! FIC! God. I love it so much. Historical AU - Victorian England. Louis is selling newspapers on the London streets when he crosses paths with Harry, a wealthy young gentleman. They start an affair and fall in love, but unfortunately, a serial killer on the London streets is targeting poor young men - in particular, as it turns out, Louis - which complicates things. Plotty, heavy on the hurt/comfort, and keeps you on the very edge of your seat. I reread this one all the time.

Pull Me Under (zarah5, 140k, E): Another Zarah fic and also incredible. This one features Louis as a professional footballer trying to navigate coming out. Liam is Louis' agent, who suggests he be in a long-term relationship to ease the coming out process. Luckily, Liam's boyfriend Zayn has a friend named Harry who'd be perfect as the fake boyfriend. Fake relationship ensues. Beautifully written, also a classic.

Butterfly Gun (eravain, 100k, M): 1940s AU, set around WWII. In 1940, Harry and Gemma were evacuated from London to stay at the Tomlinson farm. Harry and Louis become friends, but as they grow up and learn more about themselves, there's the possibility for something more - except Louis' grandpa is a dick. Harry and Gemma are sent to another home to stay, and after the war, Harry goes back to see Louis in an attempt to rekindle their relationship and see what's actually there. Beautifully written and clenches your heart in the best way.

Coax the Cold (mediawhore, 86k, M): Another Victorian AU, this one featuring professor!Louis, whose focus on the supernatural has resulted in professional ridicule. He stumbles across ads for a circus sideshow that supposedly has a mermaid, so he goes undercover as an employee to obtain proof of the mermaid's existence. He definitely obtains proof, but his goal shifts as he gets to know said mermaid (Harry, obviously) and instead of proving his existence, he needs to free him and keep his secret to protect him.

College AU series (whoknows, 75k, E): This is a two-fic series that's just fun. In part 1, Harry and Louis are in an epic prank war - well, at least Louis is engaged in a prank war, while Harry calmly retaliates. Louis is a fucking menace in this one which I just adore. Dialogue is NEXT LEVEL. Friends with benefits (or at least, that's what Louis thinks it is) that (obviously) becomes a relationship (which is what Harry has thought it was the whole time). The last scene (before the epilogue) is one of my favorites in any fic. Part 2 is pretty much more of the same - sex, banter, and planning for the future.

Give Me Truths (iwillpaintasongforlou, 110k, E): This fic HAS. IT. ALL. College AU! Hurt/comfort! Punk, confident, psych major Louis! Sad Harry! I just! Love it! In this fic, Harry is in an abusive relationship and Louis helps him gather the strength to leave his abuser. In the process, they end up falling in love, and Louis helps Harry regain his confidence and self-esteem. I love this one especially because it was written at a time when the common fic trope was that Louis hates himself and Harry is the manic pixie dream girl who makes it better, so the role reversal in this fic was very refreshing. But it's also just such a good story and so well-written. (And again. PUNK LOUIS.)

Relief Next to Me (dolce_piccante, 333k, E): Okay. This fic is a MONSTER. It's really just 333k words of slice of life as baker!Harry and graphic designer!Louis become friends with benefits and then fall in love. I read this as a WIP (which I rarely do) just because there's barely a plot, they're just having a great time living life and having sex. Chapter 17 in particular is my comfort reread, I just love it SO MUCH.

Love Is a Word, You Gave It a Name (hattalove, 21k, T): Pure fluff, canon compliant. It's Christmas time and the boys are celebrating with their families and each other and getting ready to take a major step in their relationship - that is, publicly coming out. OT5 and family feels all over the place. This fic just gives you such warm and fuzzy feelings and I always smile the whole way through reading it. Also features a reunion with Louis' infamous geography teacher and also him being jealous of Ed Sheeran's cat.

Soft Hands, Fast Feet, Can't Lose (dolce_piccante, 113k, E): College AU in which Harry is an (American) football star for a Texas university and Louis is a dancer at the same school. In everyone's favorite 90s teen flick trope, Harry's friends bet that he can't get Louis to fall in love with him. You can guess how this plays out. It's very fun and especially good to reread during college football season.

Since we've already entered fall where i live and im getting ahead my self wht do you think are mac and mayas halloween constumes over the years?

Mac-

age 1: pumpkin like Amy was in that one Halloween episode but he looks even cuter than she does 🤣 just a round little orange ball of baby... listen he's not gonna remember this, it's adorable, and it's ean easy onesie to put on and take off for diaper changes okay

age 2: fluffy lion with some eyeliner whiskers and a mane-hat (it's mostly just a brown onesie with a tail on it and cute paw socks) because he's been growling like one lately and also his curls almost don't need a fake mane

age 3: first time he gets to pick so he gets to be a dinosaaar! (Another onesie, okay, New York is cold during Halloween and this way they at least don't spend money on something he can't rewear for pjs or so)

age 4-8: just any cartoon character or book character he's currently obsessed with, and Jake is ALL IN on making those costumes work. Ninja turtle, the main character from his favourite fantasy book like SkyFire Chronicles, an Indiana-Jones-style jungle explorer, and a cyberpunk futuristic secret agent thing? he has a hard time explaining it but Amy paints the coolest 'android' arm on him ever and he loves it

age 9-12: tries to finally do 'scary' costumes so he's a zombie once with bloody bits and Maya is terrified of him, and other horror creatures like a bog-creature and a mutant. Amy hates it but Jake think it's absolutely dope

age 13-14: pretends to be to cool for Halloween now that he's a teenager. Still has to dress up to take Maya trick-or-treating, so one year he wears his one good suit and sunglasses and claims he's an FBI agent, the other year he wears a white cleaner's suit with lots of fake blood on it and say's he's cleaning up crime scenes he himself created (Amy is a bit worried about that one but Jake only laughs)

age 15: he and his friends do a group outfit of mad scientists with their creations. His best friend is basically his Frankenstein monster

Maya-

age 1: they half considered giving her Mac's pumpkin costume but she's much smaller than he was and pretty much disappears in it. Amy finds a quick and cute online tutorial for a baby flower pot costume so she becomes a flower pot 🤣 with a rose on her head for Aunt Rosa

age 2: ladybug toddler costume because that's one of her two main nicknames (and they can't dress her up like a bean for Beanie, can they)

age 3: also first own pick, so she gets to be mermaid pirate queen ('Ames that is so creative we HAVE to figure out how to do it...' 'okay but you're in charge of sequin scales then')

age 4-8: so many weird obsessions of hers: a witch (and not the stereotypical black coat big hat one, but more like a wild woman), a viking warrior princess with awesome braids thanks to Rosa, a 'circus acrobat' ala The Greatest Showman, a werewolf lady (who keeps biting daddy because every time she does he pretends to transform into a wolf too)

age 9-12: this is her 'power ladies!!' phase so she gets to be a Vampire Mistress (first time she's allowed 'makeup' and Amy does her best goth-style), then whatever Disney Villainess is cool at the moment, a fantasy rogue-hunter-assassin character (which Jake think is the dopest character from the book series they're reading too, and kinda looks like Aunt Rosa), and a 'Greek Goddess' complete with perfect curly updo

age 13-14: she's getting creative now and wants to help make her own costumes. One year she's a fawn/fairie creature, the next a living horror creep doll

age 15: she goes full Punk with crazy coloured hairspray, fake tattoos and piercings, and Amy lets her shred and decorate some of her older clothes and they find the perfect grungy leather jacket at a thrift store. She ends up loving it and wears the jacket after Halloween too and Jake is so proud (although he could do without all the buttons and patches with slogans)
