Caught between Mist and Flames

For today’s @flufftober prompt 'fire and ice' I had an idea for a Milippa fantasy or fairy AU where the Emperor is the leader of a flame clan and her twin sister Philippa the queen of a sort of part-frozen magical wetland area. Michael grew up in the ice kingdom and Philippa mentored her for a time and cared for her as a promising mentee and later even friend, and would always protect her, but never saw more in her. When Michael meets the vicious emperor of the neighboring lands, there’s a spark between them and not just because of the way small flames seems to dance on the emperor‘s skin… but could Michael ever ignore the ruthless way the emperor Leads her people, when it goes against everything Philippa ever taught her? And should she even try to make this work, when the emperor is likely to use her and leave her to burn when it is all over?

I don’t have time to write a proper fic for this with all the necessary worldbuilding, and if someone wants to adopt the story feel free!

But I did post a drabble on Ao3 :)

#my opinions on Michael and on discovery are verrrrry complicated #i love Michael but as much focus as she gets I still don’t feel like I KNOW her the way I do a lot of other characters #I think a lot of the shit she gets is because female and poc characters get held to much higher moral standards than white/dudes #or at the very least I disagree with a lot of interpretations of her as a person #she’s so much like Kirk and I can’t believe how few people see that #I also haven’t finished disco yet so like I don’t have a fully formed judgement yet #I also wish disco had stuck to its guns and let itself be a post war drama but they’re trying to make everyone happy and it’s not great #also it’s starting to have power creep issues but like it could be a lot worse tbh #so like I love discovery but also think it’s handled clumsily and considering it was the first try at bringing Trek back to tv #so I feel like it can be forgiven for that and enjoyed for what it is #I do not like any of the ships she’s in EXCEPT for her and Book #I don’t like Michael/ash or Michael/pike or Michael/tilly or milippa #sorry for the tag ramble! lol #star trek #star trek discovery #st disco #michael burnham

After a year of separation, Michael visits Philippa to reconnect and try to tell her how she feels.

✨What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)

Ohhh so many!

I still absolutely love what I think was my first real longfic, the Andromaquynh fanfic In Your Stead, and I think it just doesn’t get notes anymore because anyone who might be interested in it has already seen it? AQ fandom is not too huge and definitely not getting many new members, so my wish for that fic to still get some attention is doomed to fail I guess. Still kind of sad to see my fav of my own fics basically collecting dust!

Then there’s my latest long(ish)fic, 10k T lonely hearts on distant roads for Milippa which got a stunning whole 9 kudos, and like I know our fandom has fallen into such a deep slumber it might as well not exist but like. I think it deserves better. And it’s a modern AU so basically anyone can read it even if you know nothing about the fandom o.o (pretty pls)

And I have several Gunpowder Milkshake fanfics that haven’t gotten much attention, but here it’s less one fic in particular and more the fandom in general that I feel is under appreciated, and like, why? It’s such a fun film! And it has Michelle Yeoh Lena Headey Angela Bassett Carla Gugino Karen Gillian what more do you want? xD

Life update: Owing to the Stresses of Grad School and the strain of my beloved RAV4 blowing it's transmission on the I-95, I got into the fandom for a show that was canceled a week before I found out about it (Just WLW things I guess). Here's the fic I've been working on. The fics brought me comfort and seratonin during a difficult time in my life, so here I am giving back.

If you follow me for Milippa this should tug your heartstrings in a similar way (Hot milf/young gifted ingenue who are nevertheless made for each other). There's badass action and there's gonna be sex and love later on, so get excited.
