#no aziraphale hate though
Text
Was thinking about Good Omens again last night like I do every night and thought about why Aziraphale asking Crowley to be an angel again hurts.
Loving someone means loving them in their entirety. You don't only love when love is conventient; you love when love is hard, you love when love is annoying, you love when love disagrees. You love someone, not inspite of their faults; you love them faults and all. Because to remove their faults, their human weakness, would be to change them.
That's why Aziraphale asking Crowley to be angel again hurts.
Crowley considers his demonic nature a fundamental part of him. He would not be himself if he wasn't a demon; he would be an angel whose name has not been uttered in thousands of years, a stranger.
And Aziraphale wants the stranger. He doesn't want Crowley.

"I told you I would always come for you. Why didn't you wait for me?" "Well, you were dead." "Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while." "I will doubt again." "There will never be a need."
True love! a bit ineffable, wouldn't you say?
I think that Good Omens is similar to The Princess Bride in that both are full of humor and maybe don't take themselves too seriously, but are also full of love <3
Happy Valentine's Day! Have a little silliness and a smooch!

Why does aziraphale tells crowley he forgives him??? I literally just finished it and its driving me insane
hello anon! hope you're doing okay after that ending!
that's a hell of a question. there are a few different answers, and i think a lot was going on in aziraphale's head at that particular moment, but this is what I took from it:
-this is a dance aziraphale and crowley have been doing for a long time.
there's some sort of moral conflict. aziraphale repeats heaven's party line. crowley asks a bunch of uncomfortable questions. aziraphale doubles down. crowley calls him an idiot. aziraphale forgives him. crowley storms away. pretty much half of their relationship is built on these kinds of destructive patterns at this point--of course they'd fall back into it during the worst fight they've ever had.
-aziraphale is angry.
he's heartbroken, and he doesn't understand why crowley has decided to abandon him in what should be (from his perspective) the happiest moment of their lives since the fall. he's lashing out, and intentionally hurting crowley in the same way he's been hurt. he's not stupid, no matter how much miscommunication is happening in this scene--telling someone "i forgive you" after they've kissed you is going to hurt, and he knows that.
this reading comes mostly from michael's performance. several people have noted that in the moments immediately after the kiss, aziraphale says "I l--" and then cuts himself off. then he goes on a Michael Sheen Face Journey TM and ends up angry, and that's when we get "I forgive you." whatever else is going on with aziraphale in this moment, he's pissed.
-forgiveness is what aziraphale does.
in aziraphale's very first (modern day) scene of the season, we learn that forgiveness is "one of his favorite things." he forgives maggie's rent, and he forgives gabriel enough to shelter him from heaven and hell while he's vulnerable. it's an instinct for aziraphale, for better or worse, whether it's because it's something he thinks he SHOULD do or something intrinsic to him as a person who desperately wants to do good. occasionally, it's even something he does for his own gain. (see: forgiving maggie was a kind action, but he himself admits that part of his motivation was that she always knows how to find his music.) it makes sense that he would fall back on forgiveness as a framework for understanding a mess of complicated and painful emotions. it makes him feel better, forgiving people, and he needs the comfort of that here.
-he means it.
he forgives crowley for saying no. he forgives crowley for breaking his heart. he forgives crowley for always asking 'damn fool' questions. he forgives crowley for kissing him at the worst possible time. he forgives crowley for falling. he forgives crowley for making him doubt. he forgives crowley for being kind, and clever, and ridiculous, and special, and someone he couldn't help but fall in love with, no matter how much it hurts them both.
and unfortunately, forgiveness is the one thing that will always make crowley walk away.

I love that who ever is doing makeup for Good Omens looked at Season 1 Crowley and said “His hair could be more red.” And now his hair is so bright it puts season 1 to shame

Why I disagree with the Good Omens s2 coffee theory
!! Good Omens Season 2 spoilers !! I want to start off by saying that this is no hate to the people that like this theory, this is just my own thoughts :) I want to really break down Aziraphale's conversation with the Metatron in particular. I think there's tons of evidence in this conversation that shows Aziraphale wasn't mind controlled or anything, but just very well manipulated. In this scene, the Metatron speaks in absolutes, saying things like "you're just the angel for the job", which is giving him validation, from someone right at the top of the hierarchy, no less. However, Aziraphale's reply, "I don't want to go back to Heaven", is interesting as he stutters then immediately looks away, then makes a joke about the coffee to ease the uncomfortable tension. But, the Metatron continues to talk and completely ignores what Azi has just said, ''You know, as supreme archangel, you would be able to decide who to work with". Again, he's speaking in absolutes and is only offering him the option of becoming supreme archangel. The Metatron doesn't even give time to the thought that Aziraphale doesn't want this, because by acknowledging that, he'd give Azi time to think about it more, which would lessen his chances of being able to persuade Aziraphale to come back. I think that alone really shows how he's subtly influencing Aziraphale's choice here, not from mind control, but masterful manipulation. The Metatron carries on by saying, "Yeah, I've been looking over a number of your previous exploits, and I see that in quite a few of them you formed a de facto relationship with the demon Crowley." He's giving Aziraphale nowhere to hide by bringing Crowley up, and this is clearly an attempt to make Azi feel guilty and feel like he needs to redeems himself somehow by painting his actions in a subtly negative light. After this, Aziraphale very quickly breaks eye contact after staring at him very intently, possibly out of shame or because he was thinking about Crowley. However, the Metatron immediately gets his attention back, not allowing him any time to think, "Now, if you wanted to work with him again, that... might be considered irregular but it would certainly be within your jurisdiction to restore your friend, Crowley, to full angelic status". He's reminding Azi that what he's doing is 'wrong' to make him feel guilty, but then offering him exactly what he's wanted - Not specifically for Crowley to be an angel again, but for the two of them to be able to be happy together without any kind of shame or judgement. Additionally, he refers to Crowley as Aziraphale's friend, which reinforces that him being restored would make him more than just some demon and attempts to give the impression it would be positive for the both of them. The Metatron is also offering Azi power to have actual control over his relationship with Crowley, which would be another thing that could tempt him into agreeing. Crowley is his biggest weakness and the Metatron used this weakness to manipulate him, knowing full well that Aziraphale wouldn't put himself first. The entire conversation structure was essentially 'you did this how dare you, but you can make it better by doing this'. He was lured into accepting through manipulation, not mind control. In regards to the infamous kiss scene, I do genuinely believe that Aziraphale's reaction wasn't due to mind control - but shock. It was the wrong place and wrong time and it was such a painfully human moment, but that's a whole other topic of discussion. But, yeah! That's just my analysis of that scene, and if I turn out to be wrong, at least I had fun HAHA

Note to the FBI? Yeah, forget water boarding. All that it would take to break me currently is ANY ONE OF THESE STATEMENTS:
- “You idiot. We could’ve been us.”
- “I forgive you.”
- “No nightingales.”
- Any of the last four pieces of music on the GO2 soundtrack
Last (and most effective):

Thanks for listening, I’ll see myself out.

HELLO HI I HAVE SOME RAMBLINGS ABT THE GOS2 ENDING (yes I know it's been almost six months)
so, obviously we know that 'no nightingales' is a reference to a Nightingale sang in Berkley square. but here's another point that could be completely unrelated, for all I know. in act 3 scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo says 'no nightingale' in response to Juliet saying 'it was the nightingale and not the lark'
Juliet is saying it is the nightingale because she doesn't want her and Romeo's evening to end - the morning brings Romeo's banishment. But Romeo has realised he has to face his fateat some point and so tells Juliet that there are no nightingales singing.
The nightingale symbolises the peak in their relationship and the lark symbolises the ending. So Crowley saying that there are 'no nightingales' also tells us that his happiest moments with Aziraphale, no matter how brief, must come to an end.

after attempting to ink the Bentley, I felt brave, challenged by a greater power... to draw a... R O O M. (dun dun duuuun) Is it accurate? meh. But I took that challenge and did what I do best: complete it but with mediocre execution. I do like my last minute decision to add the light beams though. pulls it a bit together and makes it moody.

Honestly how can people genuinely hate Aziraphale? Whether you believe in the lie theory or the coffee theory or whatever else theory, it’s not really his fault. He has that toxic parent/child relationship with Heaven, along with probably some religious trauma. He after six thousand years of hanging around Crowley, a demon, thinks that Heaven is the good side and Hell is the bad side naturally because thats just what he was told for so long, and he thinks that without Heaven he wouldn’t be anything. I see people jokingly hate Aziraphale but then I see people being serious when they say that they hate him just for the sole purpose that he left Crowley. Neil Gaiman has said that Season 2 was a sort of bridge for the actual ending in Season 3 (I might be wrong but im pretty sure), which means that whatever happens in Season 3, needed Aziraphale to go back up to Heaven in the way that he did.

But like, how could you genuinely hate this sweetie?:(

Reasons why I motivate myself to work on my Good Omens fanfictions:
So I can take a certain hyper popular ship everyone loves, but I despise, and tear it apart, smash it with a hammer, and set it on fire for my own entertainment. 😊 It's not like someone will do it for me.
I would say because Lady!Crowley deserves more love, but horrific things happen to her, so, I'd be a hypocrite (spoiler alert, she's fine in the end).
Anathema and Newt's family keep a raccoon named Shovels, that they dye black, and pretend is a cat.
I have four ideas put down, so far. One's an actual detective story. Two of them are crossovers with... Legion, of all things (one came to me in a dream). All involve my Antichrist OC, who wasn't supposed to have anything to do with the GO universe, until I had that damn dream.
Another motivatior - so I can work with Maxine (the Antichrist OC) more. After a long consideration, I decided to pair her up with War (in non-crossovers, in those she's with Michael), which is problematic because they're cousins (War's mother is Satan's sister)... You know, whatever. Nobody from Earth knows. It isn't anything uncommon for royalty, either. 🤣 Besides, they're both women (offspring from donors, so no biological threats), and they didn't grow up together. I just... I adore my Antichrists. They're everything to me. Max, forgive me for getting you involved in this madness of an universe, the fanfiction gods compelled me.
Honestly, my other OCs, too. Max's best friend, Cthylla (daughter of Dagon, and... You can guess. He has a habit of oversleeping), her cat Squid, Madonna Maria (a literal jackal with vile temper and a fondness for whiskey, Maxine's biological mother;), Titan the Hellhound, Agnes Device-Pulsifer, Francisco Rossi (the Second Beast, who loathes Aziraphale even more than I do, for absollutely no reason)...
Off with Pollution, Pestilence is being reinstated to his rightful place.
I'm eager to work with canon characters like War, Michael (Legion and GO version), and Hastur - all of who, I adore
I am kind of a hater in this fandom. In the end, I've realized, fanfiction must be written for oneself, not the fandom. I will not apologize for doing what I want, with characters (and their genders) in a fic. Nor for heavily focusing on my OCs (even making them the main focus - it's something that I love doing).
The only thing I do feel some guilt for? I remember Neil Gaiman saying he likes stories where women saves themselves, which I completely agree with, yet Lady Crowley gets saved by others, most of the times... I guess, she's just in situations nobody could save themselves from. Now, her healing is another can of worms maybe that could be counted as her saving herself).
Oh... I hope no one who reads this took it as me attacking them, or mocking them, for liking what I don't. I kind of sounded like someone's evil grandma, threatening to throw their favorite toys in the trash can. 🤣 I'm just writing down my thoughts in an edgy manner. Think of this as a literal angsty, but hopeful diary page.
When I said I'm a "hater", I meant I personally have a very odd, unconventional relationship with Good Omens and it's characters. It's a... "I don't like how you're portraying biblical mythology, but I will always love you". I love Neil Gaiman. I don't know anyone im the fandom anymore, but I all the hearts to them, too. I'm just the designated class contrarian. My stories, like all fanfiction, are seperate universes from canon (and I mean no disrespect to it; the fanfiction wouldn't be here if canon wasn't).
Why do I keep hurting Crowley? I don't know, my relationship with the character is very complicated also. I find him annoying, but I named my stuffed snake after him. 🐍
Why did I write this down and post it? Because I've noticed I'm more likely to get something done after I get on a barrel, and anounce I will. These stories are so fun to write... Fine, that was kind of a lie. I'm picking at Ch. 1 of the dream storyline, and it makes me want to cry.
P.S. - I didn't see season 2, and I have no intention to (though my mom is badgering me to watch it; she's also scolding me for hurting Crowley).
#diary pages#story ideas#good omens#legion#good omens fanfiction#good omens fandom#maxine frost#female!crowley#lady crowley#war#archangel michael#hastur#i don't hate the ahip because it's popular i hate it becauss...I hate it. it being popular just causes the christmas music effect#self motivation#seriously no hate to anyone I'm just making myself entertainment in my own egdy way#it all started from a dream and I took that as a sign#but I'm hesistant to work on it because it's so heavy#it deals with dv implied sa and other topics that affect me very badly#but it's one of the stories where crowley saves herself in the end#aziraphale i don't portray in a good light because I don't like him (i couldn't tell you why)#gabriel though he is fucking DESPICABLE (he's the one who hurts Crowley btw)#archangel michael x the antichrist#crowley ends up with hastur most of the time... he never intends on falling for her but ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time#i'm giving satan a different faceclaim than benedic cu-... I'll refrain from attempting to spell it#in the crossovers adam doesn't exists in the non-crossovers he and maxine are biologically half-siblings#he doesn't partake in divine nonsense anymore because he's disowned by Satan but he and Maxine have a relationship - he makes an appearannce#max doesn't want the apocalypse either but goes about it differently - i guess playing the family mediator made her a perfct diplomat#maxine x michael#maxine x war#max is a rrising star politician and cthylla revoliutionized hell with demomic magic run technology

nah but aziraphale literally experienced threats to withhold love as a tactic of behavioral control over the course of his whole existence and then crowley kisses him ostensibly to win an argument, he's not reacting well to that.
he has always been able to trust and rely on crowley and count on him to do things like appear out of nowhere & save his life, even after they argue, but now crowley kisses him as if to say 'this is what you can't have anymore if you don't do things my way' and he's supposed to trust that crowley means it???? that someone genuinely loves him unconditionally???? he's supposed to choose something that, under the conditions it happened in, he doesn't even know is real??? over a guarantee of finally being the one in control in a space where it's always been stripped from him and crowley being by his side the way they've always been????
