The new issue of Transgender Studies Quarterly focuses on the relationship between the gender critical movement and the global far right and features this amazing article by Gina Gwenffrewi titled “J.K. Rowling and the Echo Chamber of Secrets”

it’s not paywalled and unlike most academic papers it is readable, focusing on how the narratives of legacy media in Britain amplify and enable transphobia by using terf Twitter as a source, and then terf Twitter in turn uses the articles to legitimize their agenda. It’s like an ouroboros of shittiness. The article is mostly a personal essay about how hard it is to break through that and the toll of dealing with that as a trans woman, and how the mythologies of liberal open debate obscure what’s really at work. The abstract is kinda jargoney but that’s mostly for search placement reasons.
