10: anons

I don't mind anons, overall really. If I did I would have disabled them a long time ago. When anons send silly stuff or send stuff that I can really work with easily it's a lot of fun. But my major issue with anons is when it gets abused. I know that's not really a shocker, I think most people have this opinion but just because you're anonymous doesn't give you the right to be an asshole with it. It's a privilege, not a right. Also I find it weird that there's these copy/paste anons who send the same asks to several people? I kinda get it but at the same time it just kind of turns me off once I realize they are doing that. Just kind of weird and makes me question the motive. But yeah, on a whole I don't mind them.

17: fanon interpretations

I love how others interpret characters, though with that said, there's a lot of crap out there and I hate when a character gets boiled down to 1 thing. You know, like how Futaba's just the neet, or Ryuji's just the dumbass, or Yusuke's just the eccentric painter, that sort of thing. And it gets really bad at times to the point where I wonder if they ever even actually played the games. But with that said, it's still fun to see others interpretations of characters. I always personally like to stick as close to canon as possible but to add my own stuff to it as it makes sense, unless it's a heavily different AU that necessitates my own interpretations that go against the grain, that sort of thing.

27: an old muse

I've said it before, but my main muse before Futaba was Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony Friendship is magic. Kind of like the persona series, I was obsessed with this show back when it was still in it's heyday, back when you could really call yourself a brony and pegasister and people would be like "oh that's cool" before it became hated on and then people stopped caring, I think anyways. With the fact that she used magic and having it set up the right way, it was really easy to do stuff like crossovers and adventure rps and the like. It was also really easy to do story arcs and to follow a long, linear narrative. Well, the best that I could anyways. A lot that I learned from her being my main muse I still carry over to this day. As for Twilight herself, I just fell in love with her. She was a nerd, an introvert (wow, I wonder why I fell in love with Futaba. It's almost like I have a type) and just kind of a dork. I know they kinda went away from the whole introvert thing in later seasons somewhat since she became a Princess and all that, but she's still a dork and an introvert to me, but loves making friends and learning new things. My muse for her is still there, though is so different from canon it might as well be a different individual at this point. Still, I do have her as a muse on my multi-muse, but I don't follow many pony blogs these days and I don't think many people are interested in rping with a human Twilight that follows a very specific timeline with a lot of baggage attached to it. Oh well.

3: list your fandoms and one character from each that you identify with.

OOGH man I've had so many over the years... lemme just lay out the ones I can remember:

Cave Story (Before I was even REALLY on the internet): It might be kind of basic, but I really like Curly. I also really liked Sue, but mostly because I was like "who wouldn't wanna become a cute fluffy mimiga!?"

MLP:FiM (Brony to Pegasister Pipeline): It's a constant tossup between Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy. Can't ever settle on whether the nerd horse or the shy horse inside me is more powerful.

Voltron: Legendary Defenders (didn't finish it, heard it was bad): I was lowkey obsessed with Pidge. Something about "this boyish character is, despite that exterior, really a girl" fascinated me. Of course I just chalked it up to "I just think she's smart and cute" at the time. (and I'm sure there are all kinds of gender headcanons for Pidge that have formed since then)

UNDERTALE (Baby's first Tumblr Fandom): There's lots of great characters, but I think I have to pick Alphys because I thought she was the coolest "main" character until I heard a youtuber use her specifically as an example for "making characters annoying can be a good thing sometimes." (I think he oversimplifying for his point, but like... looking back I think I was missing the tone of her character at the time.)

Steven Universe (I even had a post go 50+ notes once): Peridot. As soon as she was separated from her limb enhancers I was like "short pajama queen. Loves tech just like me." (I will note to keep the gender thread going that I felt a LOT of things when Stevonnie shaved with their sword in that Alone Together episode. I didn't have words for any of it at the time of course.)

OneShot (the one by Nightmargin): Silver. (look I just like robot girls, alright? If I considered myself a fan of My Life as a Teenage Robot I'd have Jenny Wakemen here too in a heartbeat).

Homestuck (I came in around Act 7): It was really funny that for the run of the entire comic I was like "I really like John Eggbert. He's like the token normal straight kid in a story full of off-the-wall-wild gay people. =]" and then all the other things I related to were quickly adapted into June Eggbert headcanons. (my egg did not survive this) (and I'm all the better for it)

Little Witch Academia (Still my Favorite Anime): LOTTE JENSON my beloved! Quiet little bookish girl with big glasses who learns to stand up for herself and her friends!!! (I would later base a whole DnD character on her personality, character design, and flavor of magic)

Spare Parts (go play it): How much therapy do I need if I say Lucy? Helpful to a fault? Self-sacrificial? Gender(tm)? The prognosis doesn't get any better if I pick Unit-01 instead, right?

Indus LOVES the show and gets SUPER excited when he learns Zora and Giovanni watch it; he just doesn’t get any references because he’s not in the fandom. His favorite is also Pinkie Pie, because she is PINK!

Mera watched an episode once because Indus pleaded. It was fine, she guesses. Way too baby-ish for her, though. She and Sylvie agree they’re too grown-up for it.

Her favorite is Rarity but she cried real tears during the online Derpy debate when people protested that she was perfect exactly the way she is and got the censors to back off

Ramsey is the reverse of Indus; he’s never seen the show, but knows the fandom all too well

His favorite is Zecora because she’s fun to draw

Nobody thought Howie knew anything about it until Zora once jokingly asked “who’s best pony” and he replied with a deadpan “Fluttershy” and then turned back around and kept working

MLP: Pony Life - Is Fluttershy a Yandere?

I have never done an analysis revolving a character outside of anime before, but this tenth episode of MLP: pony Life is hard to not pay attention to.

To start off, yes I am a bit of a pegasister, aka a female brony and yes I enjoy Friendship Is Magic. The G4 series has a ton of references to the anime tropes out there; with Pinkie’s sister Maud Pie showing characteristics of a kuudere and Marble Pie showing characteristics of being both dandere and undere.

This time it’s about Fluttershy, one of the main characters in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and the brand new series My Little Pony: Pony Life.

To clear the confusion, MLP: Pony Life is set in an alternate universe of Friendship Is Magic, the Fluttershy in Pony Life is not the same character as the Fluttershy back in MLP: Friendship Is Magic.

Unlike Fluttershy in MLP: Friendship is Magic who happens to be a Dandere, Fluttershy in Pony Life’s recent episode is in my opinion almost a Yandere, with Discord as her target of affection. Granted this is a kids show so there is obviously no homicide involved, but she did have her obsessive moments which is what I’m going to talk about here.

This blog contains “heavy spoilers” so I recommend you watch the episode ‘Discord’s Peak’ before you read this! Clear? Good!

At the start of the episode, Fluttershy organizes a trip to visit the magical volcano known as, Mt. Volcanope. She attempted to convince Discord to join her, even promising chaos and danger, but to no avail.

So the Mane Six were climbing up the volcano, with Fluttershy walking with them in melancholy and is already missing Discord, saying she wishes for Discord to tag along with them and join their Trail Trotter troop. Rainbow questions her and indirectly calls Discord a “walking disaster”, to which Fluttershy replies “but he’s my walking disaster.”

Already there were some signs of affection there. Now when most people show signs of having a crush on someone, they become lovestruck to the point that they even find their crush’s habits and quirks cute, in the picture above was Fluttershy’s awe towards Discord being a “walking disaster”. Fluttershy wanting Discord to tag along was her craving him; and Fluttershy’s love for chaos and recently danger were Discord’s characteristics rubbing off on her, with some of his traits becoming her traits.

What does this have to do with Fluttershy’s yandere signs you ask? I’ll get to that. We’re simply observing her lovey-dovey signs first, which is what dere from the Japanese word deredere roughly translates to. We can see here that she was in a partial lovestruck state, not showing any fear of heights (unlike her MLP: FiM counterpart) and her apparent attraction to danger, since danger is what Discord likes.

Anyone can do crazy things when they’re in love, that doesn’t automatically make them a yandere. A character has to become lovesick and do twisted things in order for their love interest to be with them, and killing is the most common way to eliminate anyone who tries (or even thinks about) to take their love away from them. But like I said, Pony Life is a kids show and I did mention in my other post that not all yanderes have to kill in order to be with their significant other.

Also, just because it’s a kids show doesn’t take away the yandere moments here and there, with some yandere moments from Berry in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, the Kankers in Ed Edd n Eddy, and Pucca in Pucca Funny Love. And boy did Fluttershy cross the line after the mane six have reached the summit of the volcano!

“Just a little chaos...”

“Fluttershy?”

“Enough to get Discord to join in on the fun!”

And that my friends is what I meant about her borderline yan side showing, with Fluttershy’s inner crazy reaching its peak as she deliberately triggers an eruption, putting herself and her friends in danger (and eventually the town). She thought more about Discord joining them (when really she thought about herself) and never once thought about her friends’ safety, that is one of the examples of reaching yandere territory.

Her plan did work eventually and Discord came to their rescue as a result of Fluttershy being in danger (which was her own fault by the way), and he did so by using his magic to stop the pink lava from flowing (yes the lava’s pink don’t question it).

After he saved them, Fluttershy continued to use her psychological tactic the second time to get Discord to join them, in which we viewers know that she really wanted to be close with him. She mentioned how she always knew he was a “trail trotter” at heart. It’s highly likely that she knew he was going to disagree, to which he did and that helped her keep up with her psychological tricks.

She mentioned that he was right and called him a “Solo Scout” with her lovestruck eyes and pink hearts floating around them. Even while lovestruck, that doesn’t stop her from using her tactic, nor did it stop her from predicting Discord’s reactions.

She knew that he would like the sound of what she called him and that he would want her to explain more, and so sneaky Fluttershy explained, “Solo Scouts are a troop of one. They rely on nopony but themselves. But, oh, you chose not to join, so forget I said anything." That last sentence she used was probably to get Discord under her control; she knew his strengths, weaknesses, traits; and used them to her advantage. Thus her plan worked again, with Discord finally joining the Mane Six.

Well, at least she had some form of guilt, and she did express her guilt over trying to force Discord into doing something he does not want to do, so that was at least something, right? While it’s true she experienced guilt, but that only revolved around Discord and not her close friends she put at risk. I call this Selective Empathy. She only managed to put herself at Discord’s position, but not the position of the rest of the mane six.

That to me sounds like a similar situation with most other yandere characters in media. Yuno Gasai from Mirai Nikki only sympathized and empathized with Yukiteru, but she had no remorse for the people she murdered; the same goes for Satou Matsuzaka, who only managed to sympathize with her girlfriend Shio. Depending on the level of yandere, they mainly express guilt for someone who is their love interest. Of course Fluttershy in Pony Life expressed her empathy for her friends in other episodes, namely Cute-pocalypse Meow when some cat was being a jerk towards her friends.

Conclusion

Ranging from the first episode to this recent tenth episode, it’s safe to say that in my opinion, Fluttershy from Pony Life would be a mild yandere (but of course it's only one episode). But the question is, when Discord appears in future episodes, will we be seeing more of Fluttershy’s novice yandere moments? Will Discord notice Fluttershy’s obsessive love towards him? And how will he react?

We’ll just have to wait and see.

A new year’s request

2018 is now 2019, and there’s so much yet to happen. I have spent so much time here since 2016 to experience all that the mlp fandom has to offer, and yet I haven’t achieved anything worthwhile to accept the coming end of mlp. The last season airs in 2019, brony con ends in 2019, and half of tumblr users has gone somewhere else. Ever since I joined the fandom there have been two goals I still have yet to achieve.

1. Meeting, and befriend a brony/pegasister in my town

2. Visiting, and experiencing brony con with a friend.

We are young only once, and I don’t have my sights on something that is more important than my current interests. This fandom has opened me up into a place where I can express something within myself to be different. The way I have learned how life works has not eased my fears, and concerns about my future. Once a kid, now an adult, and now has found something he can’t let go because the only real true happiness, and reason to accept reality is going to one day soon fade. I’m scared for my future without the happiness I have discovered without mlp, or its community.

Until I discovered mlp 3 years ago nothing has truly brought me joy, and happiness. Not toys, not presents, not going somewhere special, nor has outdoor activities. To loose something that has so much impact on my life has to have some sort of a fitting end I can come to terms with.

As a part of my new years resolution, I would like everyone, and everypony no matter if sfw or nsfw to reblog this post for it will be my last chance to find that special friend. Especially if anypony happens to live in Northern California!

i once read a theory by a fellow pegasister that most bronies dislike rarity and love rainbow dash because rarity portrays lots of stereotypically female traits (dramatics, love for fashion, etc.), and rainbow dash portrays a lot of stereotypically male traits (overconfidence, etc.) and it sounds so obvious once you think about it, and it says a lot about the sexism not just in the mlp fandom, but in all fandoms that are THOUGHT to be male-ruled

Soooo i’ve been a bad admin. Then again, i look at the stuff going on in my feed and realize that a bunch of people i followed for content to share on here have moved on to other things with few folks to take their places sooo eh. Still! Here’s an update.  Youmacon 2016 went well as picture prominently above. Usual good turnout with plenty of TSSF and other shenanigans. The the unfortunate occurrence of the Midwest Media Expo hitting venue issues rose once again and gave way to a reduced experience with Notcon where we in turn got a reduced turnout for the related Brony Meetup as seen at the bottom of the gallery. Still, we are on for this year’s Youmacon as well as having several other meetups going on courtesy of folks from the Michigan group.  Coming up this Saturday is a meetup at Boyse Farms 4210 Willard Rd, Birch Run, Michigan called  the Apple Family Reunion Cookout linked here:   http://bit.ly/2t0W2OA And in terms of the upcoming movie, the Michigan Bronies/Pegasisters and the Western Michigan Bronies facebook groups are collaborating to have a meetup at Lansing’s  Celebration! Cinema Lansing & IMAX Saturday October 7th. Although you’ll have to be part of either group to see the event page properly. There’s an alternate meetup fixing to be made with a private viewing at Sterling Heights’ AMC 30 cinema. Projected date would be October 6th at noon though that may change.
