But specifically, one of my favorite traits (honestly if you can even call this list a list of character traits lmao) of his is how passionate he gets about bettering himself and the Fire Nation. whether it was bettering his skills to capture Aang way back in season one, or when it came to stopping/reforming the harmony restoration movement after meeting Kori and her family and seeing the life all the elements made together, if he wants to change something for the better, he puts his heart into it and I absolutely love that about him. 

With Edward, I think my favorite trait about him is how driven and persistent he is. No matter what life throws at him he still keeps his heart set on his goals and does anything in his power to get answers, and him also passing the message along to Rose via “You have to figure it out. Stand up and walk. Keep moving forward. You've got two good legs. So get up and use them. You're strong enough to make your own path.” has seriously kept me going at times, especially when it comes to needing to advocate for myself, which did take me a while to start doing without needing someone to remind me to. With Alphonse, I love how he wants to see the good in people, even if those around him are trying to discourage his feelings. He goes out of his way to try to talk to the enemies, a heart to heart if you will, trying to understand their point of view to see if he could reach a middle ground, and all while being calm, patient, and collected. I think the biggest example I can give with his is how, after being kidnapped by greed and his companions (fuck greed for calling them minions. booo), Al pretty much lets them explain their side and while still disagreeing with the way to go about things, he doesn’t immediately jump into action to really stop them. After martel climbs inside his armor, he continues to talk to her like a friend, and even tries to shush her when they run into bradley. When he cares about someone (or something, him with cats make me sob) he does everything in his power to protect them. 

Now, i think the reason i don’t ask for SNK is because i read the manga and since it ended, i’m not on the hype train anymore. plus, of course the two characters i adore are the fandoms biggest issues lmao. So, i’ll include them in this, but i’m not gonna get into shit. y’all can find that on twitter lmao. this also may be shorter just because again, i'm not really into it as much as the other shows anymore. this will also be in past tense for that reason as well as it truly ended in my heart. 

For Eren, I think his determination has always been my favorite, even when i first started watching. • A bit better than average, he is more interested in the academic aspect of the major than those pertaining to an actual job

10. Annie: Nuclear Engineering

• It was during submission of college forms that Annie heard of this subject. It's calculations, experiments and would pay well one day is what she told everyone

H = Hands (How do they like to hold hands?) - Reiner didn’t start out as a hands person but as time went on he never wanted to let his boyfriend’s hand go.

I = Impression (What was their first impression?) - Growing up in Marley, he was told the Eldian’s on Paradis were wild savages, so that’s exactly what he thought at first. Then he spent more time on Paradis and around his boyfriend. That’s really what started getting his mindset changed around.

J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous?) - Oh yeah he does. Jean and Eren better stay away from his boyfriend otherwise he’s going to go all armored titan on their asses. You know that deathly stare Mikasa has? Yeah, he does that.

K = Kiss (How do they kiss? Who initiated the first kiss?) - He’d want to kiss his boyfriend, but more than likely it’s his boyfriend that kisses him first. I can see Reiner being a rather sloppy and awkward kisser but when he’s really passionate...he’s a GREAT kisser.

L = Love (Who says ‘I love you’ first?) - Reiner does. He says it right before the expedition outside the wall. Reiner knows he’ll be safe...but he’s not sure what exactly would happen after so he figured it was the time.

M = Memory (What’s their favourite memory together?) - There were two that spoke to Reiner. The first was when he and his boyfriend had snuck off during training before they were dating and went swimming in the lake late at night. The second was watching his boyfriend absolutely DOMINATING titans during the battle of Trost and Reiner being whipped for him.

N = Nickel (Do they spoil? Do they buy the person they love everything?) - No Reiner doesn’t. I mean he would want too but....do you even get paid in the survey corps? However, Reiner WILL snatch bits of extra food or lose items from places to gift to his boyfriend. It’s not stealing if it’s for love right?

O = Orange (What colour reminds them of their other half?) - Okay call me cliche but, Red, Yellow, and Orange are the only colors I can picture when I think of Reiner. They’re aggressive yet also calming and comforting all at the same time. Perfect for him.

P = Pet names (What pet names do they use?) - I can see him calling his boyfriend ‘my love’, ‘beloved’, and ‘babe’.

Q = Quaint (What is their favourite non-modern thing?) - Going on walks. He likes to take little walks either through town or through the nearby forests with his boyfriend.

R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?) - Cuddle session with his boyfriend and reading a book.

S = Sad (How do they cheer themselves/others up?) - He sucks it up. Yeah, Reiner is one of those people that hides his emotions away from people but his boyfriend knows him pretty well. His boyfriend is the one that tries to cheer him up.

T = Talking (What do they like to talk about?) - Reiner really talks about his boyfriend, and how handsome and great he is. Reiner is literally a himbo.

U = Unencumbered (What helps them relax?) - Cuddles are always a good way to get him to relax. But he’s also a sucker for a good massage.

V = Vaunt (What do they like to show off? What are they proud of?) - His boyfriend and his strength. Reiner carrying his boyfriend: “Have you all seen how amazing my boyfriend is!?”

Historia is the one to marry them, which everyone finds ironic. As for how,when and where the proposal happens...let’s just say it was during the life and death scenario.

X = Xylophone (What’s their song?) - I really wanna say wrecking ball by Miley Cyrus...I really do. But really I see Achilles come down by Gang of Youths being his song, especially after learning about his past.

Y = Yes (Do they ever think of getting married/proposing?) - Yes. In fact, he REALLY debated not following through with the rest of the plan and just staying on Paradis with his boyfriend.

Oh bb! There there! 💖 It’s okay! And no need to apologise! I love thinking up HCs! God the last chapter sounds like a real trip... here are some headcanons for you (this is a complete mess because I’m a messy bitch), but I hope they make you smile! Some might be really ooc, haven’t read the manga!

Hanji sneezes like a dad. Like full on HAXCHAAAABWAAAAAA. It makes everyone jump. It also earns a few shrieks (Hanji you can’t do that they’re all traumatised kids). Everyone except Levi who just deadpans. “At least cover your mouth dipshit...”

Erwin does not know how to respond to anyone’s jokes but his own (save for a few notable mentions). If you tell him a joke he likes, he’ll go on about it for days. He’ll bring it up to everyone (occasionally unknowingly appropriating it as his own). Nobody finds his jokes particularly funny. He also doesn’t know how to respond to Levi or Hanji’s banter. With Hanji, he often responds by chuckling affectionately. Like how you would a puppy. With Levi, Erwin can never really tell if he’s being serious, so he just responds with a “uh... yeah... Alright...”

Erwin and Mike have matching tattoos. They got it during a really messy night out after an expedition. The tattoo is really bad, really cheesy, Hanji probably egged them on. Nanaba sighs every time she sees it.

Moblit is a lightweight. Clingy when drunk. Also gossips a lot. Erwin takes advantage of this and Nifa/Nanaba has to step in.

Nanaba receives the most valentines! She gets many from the cadets as well. (I think this is Canon somewhere?) Also Hans and Nans link arms all the time you can’t tell me otherwise.

Reiner is that friend who asks for advice in a roundabout manner. “So I have a friend... And he recently developed a crush on this girl right... But back home, he had a boy who wouldn’t stop tormenting him you know? Like an actual bully. But he just... thinks about his bully sometimes and wonders how he’s doing... What does that mean?” And Jean is always right on his bullshit- “means you’re a raging bisexual, Reiner...”

Jean has ONE pickup line he always uses on Mikasa when he’s drunk (with no recollection of ever using it). “Remember me? Oh, that's right, I've only met you in my dreams.” And Mikasa is so used to it by now she finishes the line for him when he’s midway through (“in your dreams right?) and she’s always amused when he just gapes in shock.

Levi discovers Armin’s pet rat one day during a routine check. He’s mortified. He fuckin hates rats. And the rules are clear- no pets. But Armin is sniffling and he can’t deal so he gets Hanji to deal with “the infestation”. Hanji sighs and goes through the rules with him- no pets, Armin. And Hanji thinks goddamn, this has certainly come full circle. She remembers the many pets she’s smuggled into the bunks during her cadet days and she softens, whispers to Armin and tells him tips and tricks to keep them a secret. Ratticus lived to a ripe old age of 5.

Levi has a standard way of comforting the kids. He’ll make them tea when they’re visibly upset. He’ll set it down in front of them wordlessly with a biscuit (special ration) on the side. If it still doesn’t work, he’ll ask them if he needs to get Hanji.

Sasha and Mikasa have a thing where they’ll talk to one another like noble ladies. “Could you pass the sugar, Lady Blouse?” “Have you heard about Connie’s foot rot Lady Ackerman? Absolutely ghastly business...” they gossip like that too. Sometimes they put on their best dresses at night and just sit around their room, talking and doing one another’s hair.

Levi and Hanji have their own thing where Hanji would play different roles and Levi just... goes with it? “A long day at work bringing home the bacon and I come home to this mess?! Where’s my back rub woman!” And Levi responds seamlessly with a “if you spend half the time you spend at the pub at home you’ll know how hard it is to keep a house”.

Connie has moments of sheer genius that leaves everyone stunned. It comes and it goes. One moment he waxes philosophical, or comes up with some complex strategy, and the next he’s everyone favourite idiot again. “And... He’s back...” the rest would say.

When they had been kids, people used to mix up Jean and Eren all the time. And they used to respond with a very disgusted “I’m Eren/Jean you idiot!” But now they’re older and they look radically different so people get it right but it’s a running joke for Jean to say “I’m Eren you idiot!” And for Eren to say “I’m Jean you idiot!”

Also I was doing an essay while binging so I didn’t leave many comments while I was reading it, and you know I like leaving you my every thought in detail. I’m gonna skim each chapter again so I can tell you most of what I loved, I’ll try keeping it short though.

Lowkey kinda scared to tell Sandra this but I still love rockstar Eren more (It’s for personal reason, I’ve told both of you already, I’m just so attached to him) BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN I DONT LOVE EREN IN THIS FIC, HE IS ADORABLE I JUST LOVE HIM DIFFERENTLY

He is absolutely precious in this fic, I’m not gonna lie, i couldn't stop imagining him as the end of s3 Eren or Eren in the sunset scene in s4. That mid length hair was just so cute on him, and he’s so precious in this fic so it just felt fitting, but also I could see him with the man bun as the pretty knight in shining armour y’know?

I have so many favourite scenes in this story, I just loved the way he loved her despite knowing they couldn’t be in love, the forbidden love trope is one of my favourites. The way he longs for her and he gets so excited to see her is just the purest thing ever.

He’s such a delicate lover boy, oh my god, my heart was exploding throughout the whole thing. I feel like there’s so many moments I loved and I won’t remember to point them all out but I’ll tell you one I really liked, it honestly wasn’t that important, it was the moment they shared at the pond in the waterlilies chapter was one of my favourites. I feel like I could perfectly imagine him in that scene when you said you could practically see his tail wagging behind him. You know that moment you’re talking to someone and catch their interest in a conversation or they become passionate about something while speaking or and for a split second it’s like their eyes glow when they look at you? That’s how I imagined him when he got to ask his princess a question, it was just such a pure reaction. It was even cuter that he simply chose to ask about her favourite flower of all things. When he said “thank you for being my waterlily” my heart felt so warm, the symbolism behind the flower was so beautiful, but it was such a sweet way for him to tell her what she meant to him, implying that she’s his peace and enlightenment as you described the flower. Such a beautiful moment.

Also the part after she explained that it was unladylike to laugh which is why she would hide it and his response was “Such a shame.” I think I would die if someone expressed being sad that I covered my laugh. Then when he complimented her. “I like the way you laugh. The way you sound when you do…” His eyes slowly drifted to your lips. “The way your lips curve when you smile…” His eyes glazed as his voice turned into a whisper. “You’re beautiful.” Oof the way he pointed out the little details about the sound and the curve of her lips, I was melting, and the “If I keep it a secret between us, will you agree to laugh without hiding it when you’re with me?”UGH this baby, god I love him so much, it’s the little things that get me every time Kana.

I love how levi and Petra were like her parental figures in this. I wasn’t expecting Levi to be as laid back as he was, but I loved that he had a soft spot for the princess and was willing to keep secrets for her knowing he could get in a lot of trouble. And Petra being like a mother and best friend in one was so comforting, besides Petra she really had no one else to turn to when she really needed the comfort and support. Despite both Levi and Petra being against her relationship with Eren I’m glad that they wanted to put her happiness first and even tried their best to help Eren out to make her happy. I also liked Erens dynamic with them, it was really similar to hers since they both only really had Petra and Levi. Even though Petra didn’t express any liking towards Eren since their relationship could get everyone into trouble, I still saw her as a motherly figure for him as well and when Petra came around to him in the end and gave him affection I was just so happy for him. He really had no one to turn to and appreciated everyone’s support so strongly because he knew their relationship was hopeless but never wanted to give up on it.

I LOVE FATHER ERWIN, HES LITERALLY MY COMFORT CHARACTER IN THIS FIC. I’m so glad he didn’t get in the way of her happiness even though she was in a forbidden relationship that wouldn’t win in the end. I love that he chose to be supportive for the time she had left with Eren because he understood the significance of being in love and wanted to allow her to feel that instead of separating them. He even encouraged them to be together as much as he could just to see her happy even though he knew they would win in the end, which was really cute. Also that scene when he said “I wish in another life, I could have you as my son.” to Eren was the most precious moment in the whole story. I love how Erwin was so grateful that his daughter could be loved by Eren, even though he couldn’t keep them together.

The confession chapter, the moment they shared together dancing and just enjoying each other’s presence made my heart warm and when he accidentally kissed her I was like FINALLY. But my favourite part about this chapter was when he gave her the poem as a birthday gift. I know you could always tell they were in love at this point, but the way he was so nervous about giving it to her because it wasn’t for a princess made my heart hurt a little, but then she happily accepted it because it was coming from the man she loved and he could do no wrong in her eyes 😭 I love, love. I want what they have.

I ALREADY SAID THIS BUT THE WAY YOU WRITE “LOVE SEGGS” ITS MY FAVOURITE THING I COULD LITERALLY GO ON AND ON ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE IT. He’s just so gentle with her and I love the way he caters to her needs and worships her, it’s just so beautiful. There’s just so much passion between them. I’ve said sweet and precious a million times now but the way Eren gets flustered when they told Petra they made love is just so cute, he literally owns the words sweet and precious.

The irreplaceable chapter, I don’t even know where to begin with that one. It already started off tense because Armin came to see her, but it was so sad when they went back to the room and felt guilty touching each other affectionately even though they had just “made love” before Armin came. I was already sad enough that they didn’t feel comfortable together after making passionate love but when she “fell asleep” and he started talking about all of his hopes, dreams, and fantasies for their relationship, it absolutely broke me. My heart ached so bad for him. Every single detail about how he imagined they would’ve met if she was just a normal person made me so soft. How he would’ve protected her as children and she would give him bread from her family's bakery, how he would confess his love to her once they’ve gotten older and reassured her that it wouldn’t be a mistake to be together😭. The cottage by the lake, the kids, making love under the stars, akbsjejdjwjd SO CUTE. BUT THE FACT THAT HE KNOWS IT COULD NEVER BE THAT WAY HURTS. He deserves so much love🥺

I KNOW I'M ALWAYS HERE TALKING ABOUT THE MOST MINOR FLUFF MOMENTS WHEN YOU LITERALLY SPECIALISE IN SMUT, BUT I WANNA LET YOU KNOW I LOVE YOUR FILTHY SMUT TOO, I'M ALWAYS H WORD FOR HIM WHEN I READ YOUR SMUT I PROMISE!! He eats with his hands, yes he also got that from your dad. Your mom always comes up to you, while Eren and your dad talk, she’s happy that you found someone, and that Eren reminds her a lot of your dad.

Mans swallows rice like it was no one’s business, he eats that shit with barbecue and vinegar. 

You can’t tell me he gets drunk with your dad and his friends?? They watch boxing matches and eat peanut while drinking beer.

For some reason he acts like he lives there?? Like the whole community knows about him, the kids like playing with him, the guys like doing karaoke and drinking beer with them, and the titas and lolas love talking about your relationship with him and how they would totally marry a guy like that if they ever met someone like that when they were younger.

His favourite thing about the culture? Probably how open the people were, they were very generous and kind.

Armin Arlert

When you first told him, he was kind of like, “okay??” but he also took time out of his day to research your culture, he’s the type to catch you in a sad mood where you really miss your country, and take time out of his day to try his best to make food from your culture.

He’s mastered to cook Tofu Sisig and Halo-Halo. You always ask him to make it for you whenever you’re sad.

He could never understand how your family’s able to sit in your traditional clothing, he tries his hardest not to scratch, he literally looks at you with a look begging for help because he was itchy but he didn’t want to take it off.

You had to explain that he doesn’t always have to participate in your culture, because respecting your culture was enough for you. Mans cried because he thought he was horrible for not wearing the Barong for the whole ceremony.

He does loves trying filipino recipes, he loves seeing you cook adobo or tapsilog in the morning, it just fills the house with an amazing aroma.

he knows how to say ‘i love you’ in Tagalog and he has fully replaced ‘I love you’ with ‘Mahal Kita.’ 

Favourite thing about the culture? The language, he just loves learning new words everyday, his favourite saying so far is, “Huwag kang mag-alala. Akong bahala.” (Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.)

Mikasa Ackerman

Poor baby was confused, she caught you talking on the phone in another language and she just stared concerningly at you, forgetting about whatever she’s doing.

She was also afraid to try your food?? Until you shove a ube-filled riceball (in filipino, Buchi) in her mouth, she ends up making it her comfort food, she asks you to make Buchi with her, she likes to eat the left over filling.

she actually wants to keep trying some of your culture’s food, her favourites so far is definitely Taho and Kaldereta, and of course Buchi.

She can’t say much in tagalog but she does know traditions, she did the binasuan dance with you once, amazingly she kept all cups in balance for her first time.

She knows how bless and actually calls people tita and tito, or ate and kuya. She was kind of, ahem, convinced, to call your parents nanay and tatay.

Your parents always complain about how you haven’t married Mikasa yet, Mikasa was confused about why she could hear them talking about her, but you reassured her that it was only just your parents egging you to marry Mikasa. In which she blushed in return.

Mikasa also learns recipes from Armin, those two cook for ther S/O’s so much that even their S/O feel like their not filipino enough, they got to try things even they didn’t know filipino culture had.

Jean Kirstein

SUPRISINGLY, he knows what blessing is, went as far as saying “Mano po.” whenever he did.

 your dad hates him for some reason lmfao like your dad’s always staring at him with a weird expression.

He’s scared of your dad, no cap. first time you guys went on a date and didn’t have a house together, he almost shit himself talking to your dad.

You tried to teach him to do the tinikling dance and he almost broke his leg.

You and your parents conversed by yelling at each other, like Sasha, he too thought that you were arguing with them and he tapped you on the shoulder like, “Should I leave?-” You were confused as he was, you had to explain that yelling was a way filipinos communicated.

He was concerned when you would hit him while laughing, you also had to explain that was also something most filipino’s communicated.

He tried picking the language up but he just butchers the pronunciation.

Favourite thing about your culture is the places, if he could he probably would’ve bought a private island.

Thoughts On Mikasa And AOT Ending

So, like most people, I HATED Mikasa’s ending when I saw the early leaks. I literally thought she has been spending her days by Eren’s grave, crying over him. Mikasa is my favourite character, so I was really pissed. But after reading the proper translation, it’s much more positive than that. 

I’m mostly going to address Mikasa but I’ll touch a few topics from the chapter vaguely. Manga spoilers ahead.

First about Ymir Fritz. I personally am not okay with this whole ‘love’ thing, but if I look at it from her point of view, it makes sense for her to be in 'love' with king Fritz. Is it healthy? Absolutely not. But was she in a state where she could figure that out and opt for a healthy choice? Also no. She was an emotionally scarred individual, stuck in a very bad situation with no-one to help her. I like that her character’s conclusion came with her being freed from said ‘love’ because that means it wasn’t a good thing. 

Now, Ymir apparently saw herself in Mikasa. I interpret it as she doesn't know Mikasa. Just because Ymir thought their feelings were similar doesn't necessarily mean they were actually similar? We know they were not because the relationship between Ymir and king Fritz and between Mikasa and Eren are nothing similar. It's because Ymir never got to experience real love so she couldn't tell. But in the end, she was able to let go because she saw Mikasa stepping up to kill Eren. But interestingly, Mikasa isn’t letting go. That's a contrast between Ymir and Mikasa. Mikasa kills Eren because it’s necessary but as we see, she still holds him dear in her heart. Mikasa lets go of the unhealthy elements of her attachment to Eren, that part that hindered her from looking at his dark side, and she is able to do what needed to be done. But she does NOT let go of her love that she feels for his warm, caring side. 

I personally felt it very fitting how Mikasa left the battlefield after killing Eren.  She has done her job, she has actually taken care of the most crucial task and is now entrusting the rest to Armin and her friends. Her job as a hero is done, now she is just Mikasa who still holds Eren dear. Although I’m not getting how she possibly got back to Paradis. She just set out clutching the head? There’s an ocean? Anyway, her burying Eren under that tree essentially indicates her bringing him home like she said she will. 

Now to the time skip. We see that the conflict hasn’t been solved as it shouldn’t be because otherwise what message does it send? Genocide was the answer after all? No. Rather than that, Eren’s reckless genocide solved nothing and there’s tension between the world and Paradis where both sides are now living in fear. And after everything, in order to bring peace, they have to talk to and understand each other. No more lies and memory manipulation, they're going to be honest with each other. Just like they did that night in the forest when alliance was formed. 

This page actually has a hopeful tone 

“Maybe what Eren said was right.”

Maybe.

But they're now trying to make the best decisions to walk towards a better future. Clearly both sides genuinely WANT to do better are looking for peace. So, things might turn out well. It’s an open ending and I choose to be optimistic about it.

Also, Kiyomi is there waiting for the ambassadors with Historia. Which means Paradis has an ally and most importantly, Mikasa has not been all by herself like I had initially thought. 

Also, a very important detail. Armin, Jean and Connie didn't abandon Mikasa, they couldn't come back to Paradis because they're not welcome there. That's why. The reason Mikasa can live there is because Armin said he is the one who killed Eren.

Jean and Connie’s families are there in Paradis. From this we know they do intend to come back there because if they didn't they could've just asked Historia to send their families to them outside Paradis. If Historia can take them in she can also send them outside the island. But they didn’t because they want to come back home. And Mikasa is there.

Regarding Mikasa visiting Eren's grave on his death anniversary, there are four flowers there (I can only see three flowers but four stems). So she probably isn't the only one who went there, she is the one who stayed. 

Who was there with her, I don't know. I think Historia might have been there, then she left to receive the ambassadors but Mikasa stayed back. Because she isn't taking part in politics and stuff, she has already done her part and is now waiting for her friends to resolve the rest and waiting for them to come to meet her. Also she's in touch with her friends, otherwise she won't know they’re coming. So, she hasn't isolated herself from the rest of the world like we initially thought.

She has a moment of vulnerability. Crying, thinking of Eren which makes sense because... You never get over losing people. It's just that as time passes, we don’t remember it that often, but when we do, it hurts the same. Her remembering Eren while she's literally sitting by his grave makes complete sense. And neither does her crying mean she hasn't recovered from his loss or hasn't healed at all. That’s absolutely not how it works.

I really like how her attitude changes here. At first she's feeling defeated, as if she has given up, but as the bird wraps the muffler on her she is able to stand up again 

I personally think her standing up is a positive imagery. In the last page too, she's standing, looking upwards. It's clearly a sign of hope and I personally see it as a sign that she will be moving on.

I think it's safe to say that Mikasa isn't miserable. She's been doing well, healing and taking small steps. Some things you can only do alone, some monsters you have to face yourself, no-one can help you. And she has been doing it. Eren was a huge part of her life, and she didn't just lose him, it was her who brought his end. Definitely it's going to take her some time to heal. It has only been three years. However, I personally think the worst is over for her. It's an open ending but more importantly it’s not a decisive ending. It’s also a beginning. The story of how humanity got rid of titans ended, but the story of how humanity will finally find peace is just starting. Eren did say long ago that Armin will save humanity. But in the story of humans vs titans, it was Mikasa who saved humanity and not him. But as we can see, humanity is still far from being saved. So this time Armin will step up. And it looks like he is the one leading the ambassadors? So, slowly, they will walk towards a better future. Paradis will be a better place if they don't have to live in constant fear anymore. It'll be easier for Mikasa now that her friends are with her. She will move towards the future while keeping Eren in her heart. Because we know she is capable of doing that since Trost arc. She will keep living and finding beauty in the cruel world.

And as a JeanKasa shipper, I see it as quite a possibility. Since Mikasa always wanted a family. If in the future once she has healed enough, she wants to have one. Because Yams has made it clear that Jean isn't moving on anytime soon. My boy kept fixing his hair for two pages straight as they were about to arrive at Paradis. And like some people mentioned, their hairstyles are similar to that in Jean’s dream in chapter 127 (Mikasa's looks different because it's tied differently but the way her fringe is styled is the same). Given Jean has a thing for Mikasa’s long hair and she now has long hair for the first time since they met, a girl can always hope lol. And they're just 22? None of the characters have been confirmed to be in a relationship. Not even AruAni. I mean we can tell they’re together but you get my point. This is a time skip, but this isn’t exactly where normal epilogues are situated. No-one has settled down. Right now, the story isn’t over yet, they're still busy saving the world. So it's possible. Open ending, so I’ll take the liberty to picture it this way. And Armin said, Mikasa will find someone. And even Eren said he wants her to be happy. I personally don’t see Eren as being toxic for not wanting her to move on. It's completely normal to have selfish desires. He feels how he feels, it's not something he can control but what he CAN control is the consequences of his feelings and he's asking Armin to keep it from Mikasa so that she can move on, find someone else and be happy. He’s trying to do what's best for Mikasa even though it's something he absolutely despises doing. Also, he's 19 and just about to die. He is only human. Now, happiness doesn't necessarily have to come from a romantic relationship but the narrative specifically talked about Mikasa finding someone else. So yeah, I'll headcanon it as such. Others are free to have their own headcanons. In the end, I like this open ending and think it suits the story better than a so X married Y and they lived happily ever after. 

In the end, I can confidently say that Mikasa will remain one of my most beloved characters ever.

Edit 1: Saw some people say how Mikasa thanking Eren in the last page ruins her character and means she hasn’t moved on at all etc. But that’s not true? To her, the scarf represents Eren’s warm, caring side. The side that showed her beauty in the cruel world and gave her the will to live even when things get difficult. So, if anything, it’s a positive gesture. Especially since it comes right after a panel where she looks devastated. She was feeling low, too overtaken by the cruelty of her situation and the bird wrapping the scarf reminds her of the beauty and she is standing up. It shows she will keep moving on and living because that’s what Eren taught her. Like, let’s not forget this exists?

The living keeping the dead alive in their memories is a recurring topic in AOT in general and Mikasa is no exception. Finding beauty in cruelty is literally her character’s theme. And it remained so till the end.

Edit 2: I think Mikasa got back to Paradis with help from Kiyomi. Because the last time we saw Kiyomi she was on a boat after her ship sank.

This....this breaks my heart. He just...really doesnt get it does he? How absolutely fucked everyone would've been if Armin HAD died. About how hes given EVERYTHING to those around him. He fucking threw away his life for this cause and still he thinks it's not enough? He didn't become the commander because of his pretty eyes, it's because people believe and value him but he just wont accept it because it his deeply ingrained insecurities and self hatred.

Armin is one of the most relatable, flawed and human characters in this franchise and I'm reminded that this is why hes my favourite character and HAS been since 2013. And I just keep thinking back to the beginning when people called his character useless or made him nothing other than the butt of jokes and never taking him seriously when his character offers a perspective into the person who isnt "special" like Eren or physically strong like Reiner or talented like Mikasa. He wasnt even in the top 10 during cadets, yet has proved to be the most important character in this fucking story.

Hes was a normal person thrusted into this hell of a situation between humans vs titans and humans vs humans. Hes not academically exceptional, that's Hange. But what he does have is a good head, a mind for strategy. His observant nature allows him to see things from different perspectives and his out of the box thinking has been the saving grace of this narrative. The thing he used to be bullied for, the thing that would get him beaten up, HIS MIND, is his greatest asset besides his hopeful, kind and genuine personality and ambition.

His character handled depression, insecurities and dissociation. It handled suicide and survivors guilt. And people just... just didnt care, and I was made fun of for adoring him because I saw myself in him.

I dont even know why people were so prone to shitting on him. cuz he wasnt attractive? (Even tho he really is) because hes voiced by a woman? Probably something stupid. Probably because he leans more towards feminine traits than masculine and that belittles him?

I remeber when an ex-friend of mine had the audacity to get annoyed that Armin was crying and wanting to die after Eren was eaten during the invasion of Trost. As if....as if it was a babies reaction. "He should be fighting not wallowing, it's so annoying," like THIS MAN JUST WATCHED HIS BEST FRIEND GET EATEN and you think hes just gonna shrug it off? Fucking hell, he's human. It's a human reaction! "Mikasa was fine," no, no SHE WASNT. she tried to kill herself too! Because that's a human reaction to your loved ones getting brutally slaughtered.

Jokes on you lot. Because this useless character? Hes stepped into the protagonist role left behind when Eren became the Anti hero/antagonist and I couldnt be happier. Hes such a well written character and while I did not always agree, I love that Yams has clearly put so much thought into his character despite him not being a fan favourite.
