So apparently it's not common knowledge that there's a completely 100% free and open source version of Microsoft Word available? You do not need to pay a subscription fee to Microsoft just to have a word processer, you do not need to shell out $50 for a one-time purchase.
You can literally just go here and download LibreOffice, for free:

before you've added a new neopronoun to the dictionary in Open Office it starts doing this to make suggestions
it knows that a neopronoun is a noun! Diversity win! The open-source computer program knows more about language and neopronouns than random people who claim to love linguistics in a futile attempt to cover up the fact that they just hate nonbinary and genderqueer people!

Computer for the writing ask game
I'm real boring about this and write in Open Office. I just got used to using a word processor because that seemed like the most obvious way to do it, and I've never bothered with Microsoft Word, so Open Office is great since it's free. I've now started backing everything up on Google Docs as well, but the writing itself is all Open Office.

i love graffiti. "comics and jazz are the only american art forms" you forgot graffiti. did you remember graffiti? That art form birthed in Philly and NYC in the early 70s by poor Black kids. that art form that spread all over the world and influenced so many. that's used without irony in commercials when they're trying to appeal to a "young urban" customer.
did you forget graffiti? that racism broken windows theory victim? that reach the establishment takes claiming that it's exclusively violent gang members throwing up those full-color pieces and wildstyle tags in the middle of the night outsmarting fifty security cameras because the billboard was ugly anyway. as if, even if it was, it wouldn't be impressive as all hell. risking brutality and fall damage so your art can occupy the space a gentrified condo named something like "Coluumna" took away from you. proving that despite only assholes affording to live here anymore there's still a soul beneath it. an animal with dripping stripes and teeth that go clack-clack tsssss

Regex Search and Replace in Libreoffice
I have started using regex expressions in "search and replace" operations in Libreoffice.
Here are two helpful settings.
First, if you want to replace the "line break" (same as ctrl-enter) to "paragraph break" (same as enter), then, the "Find" should be "\n" and the "Replace" should also be "\n".
Hard to believe it, but, the same characters mean different things in the "search and replace" function, using Regex mode.

More details from the Libreoffice documentation on Regex search and replace. (Link)
The second, how to remove line breaks. Previously, I used to copy and paste text from PDF's, but those lines would be broken. To make them all stick together, I found this regex function. Find "$" (end of line) and replace with " " (space). That would make things stick together.
Tumblr media
Then, all the lines will clump together but there will be a space between each line.
Hope this helps.

mysterious elevators and terrible open office concepts
As I said in the previous post, I kind of want to change up how I draw people. Simplifying/chibifying them would open up more expressions and brain energy for the rest of the drawing.
I am also a sucker for artsy/cute video game sprites, which definitely influence this style decision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for this second picture, I thought about crappy open offices and someone's attempt to make one a bit more nature-adjacent to boost employee morale.
I chose rough seats that fail to qualify as balancing exercise ball seats and put them close together for extra 'chumminess.' I also thought that the (royalty free) image would add to the aesthetic (while shortening my drawing time. ^^")

Open Office or Libre Office question
In OpenOffice OR LibreOffice, is there a way to align the last line before a SOFT return left, even if the whole text stays justified (I know the way with the hard return)?
I really need both hard returns (<p> or enter) and soft returns (<br/> or shift+enter) in my document for different things, and the last line, on which a Softreturn will occur should not be spaced out to hell.
Here is a screenshot of what I'm struggling with:
Tumblr media
I want the last line before the soft return to look like the last line before the hard return. That is to say, I want them both to be aligned left, while every other line stays justified.

PSA: That post is incorrect. The last update Open Office had was at the end of february, it just seems like Libre Office is more up-to-date because they change the version number every time they update it and Apache Open Office is more conservative with its version numbering.
Good to know, ty.
