Story Summary: Aaliyah Branwen-Cael has a lot to live up to.  Both of her fathers are renowned huntsmen- fighters of unbelievable skill.  Her brother is nothing short of a prodigy, making fighting and leadership look easy.  One of her cousins is the youngest student to ever graduate from Beacon Academy, and her other relatives aren't exactly pushovers.  So where does that leave Ali?  After all, she's just a scared little girl in comparison.  And the kicker?  She's getting ready to enter Beacon with her semblance still marked as "unknown."

Chapter Summary: Time is flying by, and the Beacon Ball is already upon us. Team AAZL gets ready for a night of formal fun, but not all of them seem excited for the activities.

O is for Orcaria

Lucas Orcaria is another RWBY OC of mine! He's on Team AAZL at Beacon Academy with my main OC, Aaliyah. His weapon and semblance are I think my favorites I've come up with.

His allusion is the concept of Hell and his weapon and semblance are based on different interpretations of Hell from different mythology.

His semblance allows him to create a thick sheet of ice that traps his enemies in place, but he gets stuck in the center when it's activated. It's supposed to be an homage to the Ninth Layer of Hell in Dante's Inferno, where hell is a frozen lake with the devil stuck in the middle.

And his weapon is a little simpler, it's a staff with fire dust embedded into it, to replicate a sort of torch, which Lucifer is depicted holding in several paintings and such.

Affiliations: Member of Team AAZL, Ali’s close friend since they were thirteen years old

Race: Snake Faunus

Sexuality: Trans FtM, Pansexual

Backstory: put up for adoption at six months. Born in Mistral, moved to Vale after his adoption. Also has a little brother and an older sister (both adopted). Had a hard time making friends in grade school and faced a lot of discrimination for his bright yellow eyes and obvious lisp.

Personality: A seemingly confident king who is intimidating at first, extremely sarcastic, wicked smart, and still very kind, funny, quirky, and caring. May be a little more insecure than he lets on.

Interests: Reading, writing, cooking, listening to music, playing harp, playing piano, playing violin, learning about space, learning about plants, learning about classic literature, learning about history

Zachariel Aerex

Theme: Angel of Protecting Children

Semblance: Protective Piece - Can create a small, square barrier of hard light.  As her aura runs out, the barrier gets weaker until she can’t use it at all.  Mostly uses it to protect her teammates but she can use it for herself, too.

Weapon: Angelus Arcus - Dust-infused bow (arrows become infused with the element of the dust)

Aura color: Gold

Elements from his design, weapon, and semblance were pulled from all different versions and interpretations of hell and the devil. His snake Faunus identity is derived from the book of Genesis in the Christian Bible in which Satan disguises himself as a snake to trick Adam and Eve.

Weapon: Dawn Bringer

A quarter staff infused with fire dust/rpg grenade launcher. Inspired by the fact that Lucifer is depicted in many art pieces with a large torch as a symbol of his leadership.

Semblance: The Ninth Layer

Lucas Orcaria (2x)

1. Lucas's sheet-of-ice-creating semblance ends up allowing Team AAZL to create their own game. Lucas stays trapped in the middle while Zach, Aaliyah, and Abby skate around him in a circle while he uses his weapon to try to shoot them with fire dust. When they get hit (once, not enough to break their aura), they dramatically fall on the ground like they died because they're all dramatic weirdos. I love them all.

Oh shit, I wonder where this next one came from

2. Lucas owns and plays the harp. He bought one on impulse for 20,000 lien when he didn't fucking know how to play the harp. Then he realized how ridiculous that was, returned it, and bought a 5,000 lien starter harp. He becomes very good, even starting at a late age, and it's absolutely iconic. Oz always hires him to play at fancy academy functions. A legend.
