SHERLOCK: VALENTINES DAY HEADCANONS <3

• "It's valentines day?"

• That's how the morning had begun. With John exasperatedly running a hand down his face as he tried his best not to shout at his flat mate

• He had been reminding Sherlock that valentines day was coming up for the past week and a half, adiment on getting him out of the flat to go out and do something for once. You were in on it as well, giving Greg the heads up not to send any cases Sherlocks way for the day

• So of course John was a bit pissed when he found Sherlock hard at work at what used to be the dining room table, hunched over some of Moriarty's latest work instead of getting ready for the day

• "Yes its bloody valentines day. Sometimes I wonder how you can be so smart but so fucking oblivious at the same time."

• "Not oblivious, John. I meerly have no room in my brain for such trivial things. And the holiday occasion would certainly explain why Moriarty's latest crime was littered with rose petals and the hearts of the victims. Thank you John, that was percicly what I needed."

• "I know you're being serious right now, but I have never wanted to punch you in the mouth more."

• "You wouldn't be the first."

• Eventually, two hours after John and you had originally planned to drag Sherlock away from his work, the doctor finally got him out the door—where you had been standing for quite a while waiting

• He immediately sighed before outwardly deducing the both of you. Probably just to get on John's nerves even more if you had to guess from how red the latter's face was

• "Ah. I see what's going on. You two have devised a plan behind my back to take me out to some rather bland coffee shop or restaurant today in hopes that I will join into your mindless banter. Now I think I'll pas—"

• "Nope." You had popped the p on the end of your sentence, speaking before John could blow a gasket. "You're coming with us, Holmes. Come on, we're going to that fish and chips place you like. I'll even let you talk about the case I'm sure you stayed up late working on while we walk."

• That had gotten him to start following you down the street, breath showing up as cold puffs of air in the freezing england morning

• True to your word, you had let him talk about the case all along the way there as John occasionally put in his two cents

• "—and you know this all is making a lot more sense now that I'm out and seeing the affect this holiday has on people. I never pegged Moriarty as someone to go for something so trivial, but then again that's just another devious—"

• "Wait, what do you mean trivial?"

• Sherlock paused, both in his rambling and walking, before picking up his pace much slower

• "Well, amongst the blood and roses we found at the crime scene a few short days ago, there was a note for me. Per usual. But this time an actual one, fancy parchment and all. Detailing how I'd eventually loose, how we play cat and mouse, getting odly sexual I might add, that sort of thing blah blah blah. But what really stummped me—" He ignored the way you and John exchanged amused glances when he admitted that "—was the innuendo he left for you, (Y/n). I assume it was to throw me off in a similar fashion to Irene Adler's tactics but—"

• "Hold on." John stopped him in the middle of the sidewalk, eyes wide. "You're telling me, the most dangerous man we know left one of your best friends a note flirting with them, and you didn't think to tell then until valentines day?"

• Sherlock clearly didn't think much of John's steadily increasing tone, just raising an eyebrow in response

• "I didn't see the need to. They have never met before like you and he have at that pool. No reason to worry. Simply a move to get under my skin. Which did not work, I should add."

• You had to choke down laughter at the befuddled look on Sherlocks face, not sure John would appreciate you finding humor in the situation

• The rest of the holiday outing was spent with the two arguing; most of it coming from John as he worried. It wasn't the worst entertainment you had ever had over coffee, so you didn't mind watching your friend fret over something that didn't even concern you. Moriarty had never even known of you until what seemed like recently, so you didn't see reason to fear

• "That's it. You're staying in the flat with us this week. I'm not letting that bastard lay a finger on any of us again." John eventually said, throwing his hands up.

• "Oh come on. It was just a fake out from Mr. Jimmy boy. You heard Sherlock say it himself."

• "Please (Y/n), never call Moriarty that again. And John, leave them be. They're a grown adult."

• "Thank you, Sherlock!"

• "You're welcome (Y/n). Like I was saying, you can move into our flat on your own. No help required from us."

• "You too Sherlock. Really?"

ASiB, pretty much summed up

Mycroft: I have no fear in sending my brother to Irene Adler to get the pictures. He's a Holmes after all and he doesn't care about such things either. I know him. Not to mention that he's smart so it's not like Adler can have an affect on him in any meaningful way. I believe that he will not fail. I trust him. It's not like anything bad can happen anyway.

do you know what the reading order for Mystique and Destiny is? I would love to read about their story

I'm not sure if there's a consolidated list for both of them, but Comic Book Herald has separate lists for each character:

I think you could just read what's on the Destiny list before she died and be covered on the duo, as most of Destiny's appearances were with Mystique. Mystique's list is much more extensive, as she had plenty of adventures of her own. Also, a lot of Destiny's list is actually focused on the "Destiny Diaries," a plot device that popped up several times after her death. Destiny died back in Uncanny X-Men #255, killed by Legion (who was possessed by the Shadow King at the time), so most of her "appearances" after that were in the forms of diaries she had left behind with her predictions for mutantkind ... they popped up a bunch after her death.

One thing to keep in mind about those earlier stories involving Mystique, Destiny, the Brotherhood and Freedom Force ... Mystique and Destiny's relationship was more of an "off the page" one that creators had to suppress because editorial and the Comics Code Authority at the time wouldn't let them do an overt relationship between two women. It's really only been with the current Krakoa/Quiet Council/Jonathan Hickman-spearheaded era that creators have been able to "fill in the blanks" on what they really meant, and mean, to each other.

As for my personal favorite Destiny/Mystique stories, pre-Krakoa, I'd suggest:

Days of Future Past in Uncanny X-Men #141-142

Avengers Annual #10, which also featured the debut of Rogue

Rom the Spaceknight #30-32, where the Brotherhood had to team with Rom to fight Hybrid

Uncanny X-Men #199, when the Brotherhood became Freedom Force and brought in Magneto (leading into the Trial of Magneto in the next issue)

Fall of the Mutants

X-Factor Annual #6, where Mystique scatters Destiny's ashes after her death

The Destiny/Legion plotline would be picked up later, as a "ghost" version of Destiny tried to tell Legion how he could help make his father's dreams a reality. This led to Legion trying to kill Magneto but instead accidentally killed his dad, Professor X, and created the whole Age of Apocalypse timeline.

For actual appearances of Destiny after she died (this is comics, after all, and no one's really ever dead and gone!), she played key roles in the Necrosha crossover, which brought back a bunch of dead mutant characters, and Chaos War, which brought back a bunch of dead Marvel characters ... temporarily, anyway.

Irene Adler, Merrill, Rings of Power Tar-Miriel and at this point I have to ask him: Ishmael from Moby dick. (how many/if you want of course💜✨)

Hello! <3 And these are all great, thank you for asking! But definitely under 'the read more', this is going to be a little long.

Irene Adler

-First impression: talented opera singer that managed to outwit both Holmes and the king that was stalking her AND carve a happy life for herself + her husbands; “The Woman” indeed.

-Impression now: pretty much the same - although with age I've come to appreciate more the crossdressing subplot. You get the idea that it is something that she does quite often and enjoys (especially given the freedom that comes with it). This is also for the -headcanon/idea for a story section, but I hope that eventually some adaptation will explore the potentially queer aspect of it. No, not you, BBC.

- Unpopular opinion: maybe it's not a big deal NOW, but I still consider the aforementioned BBC adaptation one of the worst in terms of characterization. They managed to make it worse than a story written in the XIXth century, congrats!

- Favourite relationship: her canon husband seems to like her as she is- which is nice, so he can stay.

Merrill

- First impression: I almost didn't recognize her from her tiny cameo in Origins, ops. Beside that, as soon as the other dalish started badmouthing her I pretty much immediately switched into 'protective mode'.

- Impression now: she is brilliant! why nobody notices that! By trying to restore the eluvian she is actually doing a keeper's job, and she didn't even get possessed despite doing an internship with a spirit/demon - that's impressive. And sure, sometime she can be a little awkward, but she comes from a completely different culture compared to the other characters - of course she is awkward. It’s like moving from Abbiategrasso to Amsterdam, I’d be a little overwhelmed too.

- Favourite scene: The "I believe in you, Hawke" moment during The Last Straw - everybody is (understandably) a little torn and full of doubts and yet she is the first one to be 100% on your side.

- Headcanon/story: since she cleansed the Eluvian, I guess that it’s almost-canon that blood magic could cure the taint? It’s kind of a shame that her relationship with Anders doesn't progress past his prejudices (and a few admittedly nice but short dialogues), because then you'd have a dalish mage that actually knows how to deal with spirits and can potentially cure the taint AND a possessed mage/grey warden. It’s pretty much 80% of the magical plot condensed in two characters, come onnnn.

(same with the whole 'tranquility' thing, since we saw very early in the game that interacting with a spirit can, albeit temporarily, reverse it. No I'm not over that quest)

- Unpopular opinion: I wish the romance storyline was... better written? I would have been 1000% more supportive lol. No really, they emphasized how much Merrill idolizes Hawke, while I would have opted for a more equal relationship.

- Relationship: beside the romance option, I'd say Varric and Isabela. And special mention to Aveline – I know she is not a particularly popular character but some of her dialogues with Merrill are quite sweet.

Tar-Miriel

- First impression: Cynthia Addai-Robinson could stab me and I'd thank her for her time.

- Impression now: same :P no really, this character has a lot of regality and grace, like some sort of fragile strenght. She really felt like a Tolkien character, so to speak.

- Relationship: not romantic, but I enjoyed her clashes with Galadriel and Elendil, and the overall idealism VS political realism contrast.

- Favourite moment: the whole sequence with the falling white flowers, and her final parting with Galadriel - she looks like a byzantine empress 90% of the time, so it's hard to pick one.

- Story/headcanon: not much of an headcanon, but I hope that they'll show more of her ruling in Numenor.

- Unpopular opinion: I don't think i have any? Are there popular/unpopular opinion about her?

Ishmael

- First impression: The novel starts with him explaning that he sails to fight depression (“with a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship”) so I immediately liked him. And "call me Ishmael"? - he is the one that tells the story and we don't even know his real name. The epitome of the unreliable narrator, and he tells you that himself.

- Impression now: Pretty much stayed consistent – I appreciate how he is the opposite of what people expected from a male character in a seafaring novel: introspective, melancholic and prone to philosophical musings, with an unconventional approach to religion (a lot), not particularly adventurous in the physical sense, and gay.

- Relationship: “Thus, then, in our hearts' honeymoon, lay I and Queequeg — a cosy, loving pair.” What can I add? It’s like a marriage, "until death to us part" and everything- and even after that, since Ishmael avoid drowning by clinging to Queequeg's coffin.

- Headcanon / idea for a story: I don't think I can write Moby Dick fanfiction, really. I’ll leave that to Vinicio Capossela lol.

- Unpopular opinion: I don't find Ishmael’s musings about whales boring? They are definitely not the worst part of the book (that's the XIXth century racism).

//Basically, this kid comes to Sherlock for help. His car broke down in the countryside and as he was trying to fix it he noticed a man standing in a field staring into the sky above him. The car backfired, and when he looked over, the man in the field was lying dead.

//So there's a guy laying dead in a field with no apparent cause, and Sherlock and Irene Adler work together to piece together what happened. We as the viewer are given next to nothing, it's forgotten about for a while, and then they piece it together for us

//The real cause was that the guy, who was initially assumed to be bird-watching, had actually been throwing a boomerang around, and when it returned, the guy turned his head due to the sound of the car backfiring. That caused him to turn around and the boomerang hit him in the back of the head, which was apparently fatal

//We were given no indication about this, and nobody else noticed the boomerang laying in the grass

Summary: After a particularly interesting dream, Sherlock investigates a particularly interesting case.

Sherlock breathed in heavily, letting out small, strained moans. Something he never thought he’d do in his life. For pleasurable reasons, at least. The man held onto the sheets, his head buried into the pillow in front of him. Yes, Sherlock Holmes was on his hands and knees in the middle of his own bed. “Please….” Came from Sherlock’s mouth, a foregin word on his tongue but it made the sound all the more sweet. The depth of his voice made a simple, pleading “please” mean that much more. It was a foregin emotion in this circumstance. Desperation. In times of high stress, big cases, were usually when it came to him. Not…. this.

Irene Adler may have thought she would bring Sherlock Holmes to beg for mercy, and be the first to get to him. And maybe she could. But fate was funny, it had that scenario playing with another woman in mind.

Someone much different than The Woman.

“Please what, sweetheart?” A very familiar voice to Sherlock. She pulled slightly on the man’s restraints, the ropes tightening slightly which would create bruises he would most likely cherish in the morning.

Sherlock let out a small, deep whine, “I-I-” This was hard for the detective…. In many ways. Emotionally, though, he wasn’t used to having someone else in such control over him like this.

Sex wasn’t something he’s fully experienced before and, as far as he knew, he would be the one in control. But in one fell swoop, she changed his mind. No, he would be the one begging, pleading, wanting, whining while she made him like that. It felt…. Freeing. Good, even. Like it was meant to be that way. She showed him a side of himself that he didn’t think he had.

“P-Please, M-Mistress Violet!” Yes. He’s letting go. She’s letting him let go. Sherlock let out a breathy whine as his lips released those words.

Jayden is not an inherently sexual creature, even though it was her job. But she has a better insight than anyone about what a simple experience can do to someone. She was just hoping this would be a positive outcome. And right she was….

“Sherlock?!” John banged on his bedroom door, his voice muffled from within the four walls. Was he really not up? It was eleven am. Sherlock had to be. That would be a new record for the detective.

Speaking of, the man inside the room let out a deep breath, not realizing his face was flushed. It was a dream…. All of it? Why did it seem so vivid? Like…. Like Jayden was right there, making him feel good. Making him lose control and give it to someone else in the sweetest way possible.

Sherlock looked around his room, trying to calm himself with simple deductions but that was not working so he got dressed…. Careful of himself. He didn’t want to seem hot and bothered. Because he was surely both. Now, John was a man as well but the detective wasn’t ready to reveal himself to be sexually inclined yet. After all, the first time Sherlock was sexually active in some way was when he met Irene Adler and he didn’t do anything with her besides see her naked.

Which John saw as well so it wasn’t private anyway. Not that he wanted it to be, it was a surprise. Something he didn’t anticipate. Like his dream. He didn’t anticipate he would have it. Sherlock barely dreamt in the first place so it was shocking he had one, especially like that.

Another deep breath as the man opened the door to his room, coughing to gain John’s attention as the man took a sip of some tea he made. “There you are, thought you were dead.” He chuckled softly.

“Somehow I doubt my death will be as…. Boring as dying in my sleep.” Sherlock coughed for a moment, realizing his voice sounded much more husky than usual.

John wasn't an idiot, as much as Sherlock decided to call him so. The man's eyebrow cocked at the sound of Sherlock's voice, "You alright?" The doctor observed the detective for a moment, not missing the way Sherlock's cheeks were slightly flushed and–he realized this because of the detective's own ramblings–the way his pupils were dilated once he came out of the room, not to mention the slightly harbored breaths.

"Just fine." The detective gritted his teeth, trying to sound less irritated but failed. Sherlock could tell John was observing him and was one step away from finding out exactly why his pupils were dilated, why his skin was flushed, and why his voice was deeper than usual.

Thankfully, the doctor was not as cruel as Sherlock would be in such a situation and decided not to comment on it. "Alright, well, we have a case to get to." John said, his mind already clicking everything in place.

Sherlock nodded, coughing for a moment before he went to grab his coat and scarf. London was frigid in the winter and with the snow, the air had a certain bite to it that most everyone hated. But, for once, Sherlock was quite thankful it was cold outside. It should be able to distract him from the scene still lingering in his head.

"Please what?" The sickly sweet sound of her voice echoed in his head. Sherlock has never even heard Jayden say something similar to that in a tone so…. distracting.

Sex was something Sherlock didn't really acknowledge until Irene and after, he started to question it was something he wanted in the first place. Indifference seemed to be a struggle after The Woman arrived, naked with only some heels on. For a moment, though, the detective landed on a hard 'no.' That only lasted for a few years.

Jayden came along and messed everything up. In the best way possible. Sherlock's attraction to her was like nothing he's ever felt before. He wanted to do everything and anything with her. Whether that included sex or not was up her.

If he was honest, Sherlock wouldn't blame Jayden for not wanting anything sexual from him. It was a part of her job, it could be–was–tiring. She needed a break from it all. It was more than healthy to take a break…. From anything really. Especially if you do something for days on end.

The crime scene was brutal. It's been a while since Sherlock has seen something this bloody. Stains of red were all over the walls, floors, and even the ceiling.

Just goes to show how good of a weapon a guitar can be when trying to kill someone.

Although, it did take some time for Sherlock to realize what the murder weapon was. The images of his dream and the sultry sound of Jayden's voice haunted his mind, distracting him from the task at hand. The man had to press his palms into the temples of his head just to get his brain to start working properly again.

"Something up with him?" Greg asked John as Sherlock began pacing around the scene, rattling off simple deductions like what Sally had for breakfast or the state of a police car to calm himself.

It was nice that Greg was concerned and so was John, but he knew the deeper meaning as to why Sherlock couldn't focus. "Yeah…. He'll be fine though." He hoped. John shrugged, keeping an eye on the detective to make sure he didn't say anything stupid just to get his mind working again.

When Sherlock did start to focus, he rattled off the deductions like they were fleeing from his mind as soon as he realized them. "Clearly a physical altercation with things being broken or askew, as well as the bruising on the woman's knuckles, head was beaten by something heavy and large…. An electric guitar judging by the size and width of the indents. Possibly something expensive like a Fender but not too flashy, perhaps in the color black…." He explained, his eyes scanning over the woman's body yet again.

It was someone she didn't know, that much was clear. Someone going to the music shop, perhaps to buy or…. Reminisce in a time where they could play. "Check inventory and see if any guitars are missing that match the description." Sherlock said, looking over at Greg who finally paid attention.

Sherlock looked to the wall of the shop, eyeing some of the guitars on the wall. It reminded him of Jayden's…. Jayden! Right, she knew her guitars from inside and out. She was able to manipulate them in ways no one else could, or, he thought only she could. The soft melodies that were played on her acoustic greatly complimented the appearance of it. A soft white with the black painted accents being chipped away after the countless times she's used it, the gloss fading away to a nice matte. It was loved. Loved for years.

But Jayden's electric guitar…. That was something that hung on the walls of her apartment, barely used unless in the mood for it. It was in immaculate condition, in the style of something more retro than anything newer. It was a light mint color with white encapsulating the strings and a wooden neck that was meant to play chords. Sherlock has never heard nor seen Jayden play it. Perhaps it was more of a trophy for her or she only played it when she felt a piece called for it. For instance, something more Rock N' Roll? Or something more like Pop? Sherlock knew she listened to an artist called Doja Cat….

Sherlock totally didn't search up the song on Google for the sole purpose of bonding…. And he totally didn't listen to any others made by her.
