Techniks 16 bit
Tumblr media
Pixel art for today based on videogame Advanced Daisenryaku for game console Super Nintendo. Power of 16 bit in in that point that it has a difference videogames. Also, a wargames. Strategies.
Something strategy about tanks and something about historical or pseudo historical theme.  Wargame. Hex squares. And by them you need to move your resources. And then enemy do the same. As chess. Almost. Also, interesting genre. It adds some variations in a game library. So, I for myself, already want some cartridges for Super Nintendo!
And this is my drawing based on. I dream for a long time about something like wargame. So, it is a picture now, also a wargame it is. I noticed that in origin game it has a date 1939. It should to mean something. But I don’t want to go into a historical moment. And mainly as a base theme. So, age around 1939 or something like that. But a little in a fantastic format.
Pseudohistorical such type. Or maybe even be better no to set with certain historical age at all.
And you it can be easy to see all units – are just silhouettes. And I can draw a lots of them. Very different forms. From different ages. Wargame will be about tech. Vehicles. And it can be a forest, desert. Something not hard pixels landscapes. And it is can be like even arcade format of wargame. But now it is only a drawing.
Game, for example, can goes just one map after another. Map1, map 2. And so on. With different landscapes. Such a simple retro. It can be said it is dedicated to Super Nintendo, 16 bit, IBM PC MS DOS 386SX2, 486 DX2. And I remember for myself I played in videogame Fantasy general, and  I  like it a lot. But I do not play a lot. It is hard. For me it is hard. It is boring. And what if such a type, but not hard to play. And everyone can play it. So, when I played Fantasy general I had this idea. So, such a light format, entertainment. It is only a picture now.

A lot of younger folks find it weird and even hilarious that their elders are over-cautious -- dare I say, terrified -- about accidentally hitting the wrong button on their computer, like if they're not careful, they'll accidentally blow it up.
That's because younger folk have only ever used fairly idiot-proof computers. They've never known the joys of MS-DOS, where every floppy disk had to be formatted from the command line by typing FORMAT followed by the letter of the appropriate drive. And if you typed the wrong letter -- or even just forgot to type any letter -- before hitting enter, you reformatted your hard drive. That's right, you wiped everything on your hard drive, with one keystroke, in the course of doing a common, everyday task.
There were all kinds of other pitfalls. Like for example, foolishly starting to upgrade Windows without realizing that you had to first make sure certain files were in the correct path, and if they weren't, the install couldn't find them and it just ground to a halt, leaving you with a half-installed OS, which is the same as having no OS at all. (Ask me how I know.)
Mind you, people should be able to learn new ways of doing things, and they should understand that there are safeguards now that make those kinds of mistakes nearly impossible. But it's not that easy to let go of fear, and those early PCs really traumatized us. More than a few of us lost days, weeks, even months of work. Whole novels. So next time Grandma is kind of freaking out about hitting trash or install or whatever, have some pity. She's been through a lot.

i've been meaning to post this for a while now, so here it is
The Gateway GP6-400
Tumblr media
this is my retro pc setup - a modified gateway gp6-400 from 1999. this model in particular really appealed to me; it's powerful enough to run most games up to around 1998 or so, but it still has fairly realistic performance for a typical gaming pc of that era. i still went ahead and swapped out some parts as well as added some new ones in order to get exactly what i want out of it, however.
here's the specs:
- Pentium II 400mhz
- 128mb RAM
- 250gb HDD (win98 partition only uses 6.4gb for accuracy
- Voodoo3 AGP graphics card
- Integrated Ensoniq AudioPCI audio
- ES1868F ISA audio card for DOS gaming
- DVD-RW drive
- 3.5" floppy drive
- 250mb ZIP drive
on the pc there exist two operating systems: windows 98 second edition and ms-dos 6.2 with windows 3.1. now, you likely find this odd considering that ms-dos 7.1 is already accessible from windows 98, but i reeeally wanted a true early 90s dos experience. so, i have a full installation of dos 6.2 on a separate 425mb partition (the size of a decent hdd from 1994 or so) that i access via boot disk.
as you can also see from the pictures, there's a crt monitor as well: the 17" princeton eo710. it was expensive - well-kept crt monitors tend to be that way unfortunately - but it works wonderfully and the display is gorgeous. i try to keep it at around half brightness and contrast, which can make seeing things in games hard at times, but i really would rather not risk wearing it down lol.
overall, it works splendidly. i'm able to run any games made up to around 2001 or so fairly well, and while there's been issues dealing with stupid win98 bullshit, it hasn't been too bad to work on. it's been a dream of mine to own a computer like this for ages, and now that i finally have one...i'm really happy :)
here's some more pics

"It’s at these places that dangerous metaphysical energy leaks through from these other realms into ours. Some refer to it as “magick”, if we want to be a bit colloquial with it. But when it comes into our realm, it leaves an impact."

Destiny and adventures in a world of fire and ice
Tumblr media
Sprites for today based on videogame Fire King for PC MS DOS. It is role playing game. And idea of picture is taken from screen with select characters.
My picture about same theme. It is characters for role playing game. Style of explore dungeon, or something like Might and Magic.
Searchers for the adventures. There are lots of them in the kingdom. Everyone wants to be an adventurer. And explore most different things. Old castles, towers of sorcerers, ruins with dungeons. Deep forests and wide deserts, cities, there are thousands of them. Thousands of cities and settlements. A whole territory for explore.
Somewhere in a distance, a star fall. Someone say it is a good sign, someone say it is bad sign. You are selecting your destiny. And you are going for big adventure. You are suggested to transport a message to another side of the world. And if you do this, then you receive a castle.
And you will need to build a lots of things in the castle. And for this point - you will need to solve more stories. And have a battle with a dragon. Explore ruins of necromants, visit village with a ghosts in winter. To speak with giant bees to not to attack citizens. It is a second list, you receive from king. It has lots of tasks, that you can solve during your adventure. And you can to add in this list all the quests you find as a new quests during adventure time.
And as you left city, you start to see a forest people, and they ask you about help. They do not have enough of arrows. They need them to defense from bandits. Arrows you can take from the city, the city you have just left.
You have seen a raven that fly after you. People speaks, that some druid or necromancer are watching you. Maybe they can suggest you some adventures. But anyway, you are in a list of adventurers. And in every tavern you receive apples, and you can sleep.

Animal (1996 - PC CD-ROM - Microtime)
Animal is a product tie-in to Peperami, a spicy pork salami sausage. The 'Peperami Animal' was launched in 1993 advertising with the slogan 'It's a bit of an animal'. This surreal adventure takes place in the town of Snackopolis, where tension between cookies, vegetables and other snack-creatures is on the rise. Just before the mayoral election, the current mayor and top candidate Dr. Pepereinstein is kidnapped while he is cloning Peperami. In addition, the cloning device was tampered with, with horrible results. As Peperami, a walking and talking sausage, you investigate and seek to rescue the mayor and to clean up the mess left from the cloning. The game is a traditional point and click adventure with the exception of two DOOM-style first-person shooter sections at the end of the game.
