“Se vacunaron VOLUNTARIAMENTE”
Tumblr media
@theobjective

i don't think i ever mentioned it on this blog but over easter my (nurse!!) aunty gave myself & several other immunocompromised family members covid. every one of us has been testing before each family event but this year she decided she can't be bothered testing anymore.
as a result i ended up in hospital & now have pericarditis & myocarditis. i'm, obviously, extremely angry about this. my heart was already struggling because of POTS but now i actually have heart damage. & because i was already so unwell with ME/CFS, my chances of ever walking moderate distances unassisted (ex. from the house to the car) again are so small i've been advised to 'not even think about it.'

How are you chronically ill
This is a slightly intrusive question. I am extremely open about my chronic illness and have shared its details on this blog before, so I'm not offended, but I wanted to mention that for you to keep in mind for the future with other chronically ill folk.
I've always had mental health related issues including severe insomnia. But my chronically ill life began when I was diagnosed with pericarditis in 2019. Pericarditis is when your immune system overreacts and decides that your heart needs extra protection. It swells the pericardium, the sac around your heart, but it doesn't necessarily know when to stop. This leads to extremely uncomfortable sensations of heart palpitations, shortness of breath, chest pain, and fatigue, among other things. The heart palpitations and shortness are particularly bad when lying down, which makes sleep difficult.
One risk is fluid build-up—similar to other swelling in your body—that fluid fills that space and needs to be drained, which takes surgery, and if not drained, starts to put actual pressure on the heart itself. The other risk is that the more your body does this, the more likely that the pericardium develops scar issue that can then build up and increase chance of complications and pressure on the heart.
We don't know why my body did this, but are keeping an eye on my test results to look for any signs of autoimmunity, since this seems to indicate my immune system is over-active. Particularly after it came back due to a flu in late 2022 despite being gone for almost a year.
The experience of getting diagnosed was extremely frustrating. I was told repeatedly that this completely new shortness of breath, brain fog, increasingly bad chest pain, and heart palpitations were my anxiety, related to my weight or me being out of shape, or just in my head. That led me to begin reading heavily into the subject and trying to understand both about healthcare, its biases, sexism in healthcare, and various ways that our system is extremely broken.
After about a year with pericarditis, I began to manifest symptoms that did not make sense with pericarditis but did compound it. I began to experience migraines, chronic pain particularly in my hands and hips, a new hypermobility that caused my ankles and knees to roll or give out more easily, fatigue, brain fog, and more.
After a year of investigation, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a condition in which my muscles, tendons, and other systems hold tension more than they should, sending pain signals to my brain when there isn't pain, hence creating the pain. This results in aches and pains, brain fog, migraine headaches, stiffness, increased chance of injury, and more.
I'm now experiencing both fibro and pericarditis, which compounds many of their common symptoms and has made this winter particularly hellish.

it's damn near impossible to find other people with myocarditis or pericarditis on this app because the tags are flooded with vaccine misinformation. i got them because of a covid infection, not a vaccine. the vast majority of people who've developed peri & myocarditis in the last three years have done so because of covid
