I’m starting my headcanon journey today with my favorite mayhem member Zoot. It also includes some canon info I found via. Electric Mayhem’s twitter. Look down here vvv
First off, I feel like if he was human, he’d be Jewish-American.
Starting with one I have already shared, Zoot has a violent nature towards Mahna Mahna and no one else.
Now with the first actually canon fact, Zoot has no sense of time. He actually deems time a ‘social construct.’ Perhaps it’s because of oversleeping.
Tumblr media
Speaking of oversleeping, I’m confident he has narcolepsy. It’s almost obvious because of his habit of falling asleep at completely random times. This is also why he has poor memory, because he mixes up his dream memories and real life memories. He also sings and plays in his sleep which is canon.
Another canon fact from the twitter is that Zoot calls himself ‘Wilbur’ in his head. Perhaps it’s just a gag, but I’m taking it seriously because it’s my account and I can do what I want.
Because of this I have two ideas. One is Wilbur is Zoot’s middle name. In this context, his name would be Zoot Wilbur Zootowski. But there’s also another one that’s more ‘out there’ yet I like it more. Wilbur is Zoot’s real first name, but people always called him ‘Zoot’ because of his last name and it’s similar to the sound of a saxophone. After a while he forgot his real name (specifically in the muppet movie) and since Floyd called him Zoot he just started to believe his legal name is Zoot.
Tumblr media
For something more deliberately from my mind, I have a couple ideas for Zoot’s eyes. One is that is eyes are completely whited out or a bright icy blue. Either way they’re pretty eerie. That and the fact bright light hurts his eyes are why he wears sunglasses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Second image comes from Pinterest)
I don’t exactly know how to label his gender and sexuality aside that he forgets his identity often. Think “Hold on, I’m a guy?” or like those scenes from Sam and Max. Think,
Floyd: Don’t look to excited Zoot, you don’t even like girls!
Zoot: I don’t?
Zoot actually learned his telekinesis from Janice sometime between the 2015 muppets and muppets mayhem.
Speaking of Janice, I think it’d be both funny and sad if Zoot completely forgot about their relationship after a while. Maybe when Janice got back with Dr. Teeth, Zoot was completely alright with it because he eventually forgot they were dating in the first place.
Might just be my multi-shipper brain talking, but I also think he might’ve had a fling with Floyd as well. He forgot about that too. After all these years I feel like all the members of the band are dating each other (except Animal of course) so at this point he doesn’t have to remember who exactly he’s dating. (Also their ship name could be Floot like ‘flute’ and I think that’s funny)
Another canon fact, Zoot’s first experience with a saxophone was him picking one up in a music shop and the owner kicking him out.
Tumblr media
Zoot is a fan of cats and manatees, and he’s afraid of snakes.
Also I feel like Zoot met Jimmy after he bought a pair of ‘muppet shoes’ off the internet. Turns out his shoes themselves were muppets.
His two belly buttons were the result of some sort of mutation, and I don’t think I need to elaborate.
The reason he sometimes says ‘sorry father!’ when he wakes up sometimes is because his dad would get angry at him for napping every now and then.
He doesn’t smoke, since he wants to keep his lungs healthy to be able to play his instrument.
Lastly, a few people have explained Zoot’s odd personality on constantly being under the influence of something. In my opinion, I feel like Zoot is just genuinely like this. And I love him for that.

May I ask why you dont like the 2015 live action cinderella?
I have answered this question before here, here, and here.
My main issues are:
The creative cast of 2015 outright condemning the 1950 film and admitting that none of them had ever been fans of the original growing up (which is painfully obvious given how much they misunderstood the story). I think a lot of them leaned into a lot of really problematic rhetoric regarding victim shaming in general. I think this was so harmful, because despite the fact that many people perceive the original Cinderella to be a victim, she really wasn't (if she would've been, that's fine, but the fact is that she wasn't and a lot of people perceive her as one anyone and I think it opens a HUGE can of worms). Lily's though was without a doubt more passive, less individual, and just didn't have substance to her imo.
They wiped away all of Cinderella's spirit and spunk and energy and made her a bland "smile and stare" soldier. She also falls into the Belle trap a lot for me. You all know I don't like Belle, and I just always get irritated that someone who's supposedly so intelligent in every way suffers at communicating effectively and Lily's character falls into that trap too imo. Plus, she's just not human to me or realistic.
I hate the saying "have courage and be kind."
The aesthetic is gaudy, I don't like the voices in this film, and all the stylistic choices are unsettling to me.
I don't like the way any of the characterizations are written and performed. Lady Tremaine was cold and calculating in the animated, while Cate Blanchett is cackling at the top of her lungs in a fashion nova cheetah print bathrobe...
What I liked about the original was the variety in designs, but this production was hellbent on "fixing" the beauty standards...by making the Fairy Godmother, Lady Tremaine, and the stepsisters all abide by it??? They're all thin, conventionally attractive young white women and are dressed in a way that's meant to be flattering to each. I think they were trying to flip the trope on its head like "look, the stepmother can be beautiful too! So can the stepsisters" but they achieved the inverse here and seemingly glorified eurocentric beauty standards by having every character look the exact same (meanwhile the opposite is true for the men in this film; who would say the King and Grand Duke or Prince looked the same?).
I genuinely find Lily James unstomachable. I don't like any of the live action actresses, but Lily is probably the worst to me, personally.
A lot of people prefer this one and a lot of the Cinderella content we get leans more heavily into this version (sadly). Also, I just think it's leading to more and more people misunderstanding the original Cinderella by thinking she's like Lily's, which is very off (I never would've liked Cinderella if I experienced her as Lily's).
This is not just one of my least favorite interpretations of Cinderella, it's one of my least favorite movies in general.

HELP WANTED!
Hey there everyone, I have a annocement for potential writers out there but before I begin, let me bring some context to all of this so you can understand all of this better.
When a film becomes very popular and gets sequels, they usually get spinoff material to other mediums to make more money like TV shows, comic books, or video games and Shrek is no exception especially when it comes to its most popular character: Puss in Boots which is where The Adventures of Puss in Boots comes in.
Tumblr media
Running from 2015 to 2018, The Adventures of Puss in Boots is an American computer animated series by DreamWorks Animation that was developed and executive produced by Dave the Barbarian creator, Doug Langdale, that is kind of a prequel to Puss' 1st spinoff film from 2011.
The show sees Puss in Boots fight off an endless legion of invaders to protect the previously hidden village of San Lorenzo, after his actions unintentionally broke the spell that protected its legendary mystic treasure from the outside world. Subsequently, he must find a way to restore the protection spell that will cloak the town once more.
Since this takes place before either the 1st Puss in Boots film or even the Shrek films, that means well known characters from the franchise don't appear in the series to some fans' disappointment but that doesn't mean it wouldn't have characters that people won't love to the point of having a favorite which is where Dulcinea comes in.
Tumblr media
Voiced by Glee's Jayma Mays, Dulcinea is A sweet and innocent female white cat whom Puss falls for and follows to the town of San Lorenzo, starting off the plot. Now, characters who are positive can be a mixed bag since the writers always mixes positivity with stupidity.
However, Thanks to Jayma's performance and her character development, she is able to be a likeable female character that uses her smart and kindheart to solve things then beating the crap out of people like how many modern female characters are today.
Another thing that makes her work is the romantic chemistry she has with Puss which is very sweet and kind of heartwarming to the point, similar to Puss and Kitty, you are rooting for them to get together in the end.
Tumblr media
This is also thanks to Puss' voice actor for the series, Eric Bauza, who before this show or Looney Tunes Cartoons was only know for voicing characters like Stimpy in Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon and Lord Stingray in Superjail but this series proved how not only can he pull off a voice that unrecognizable from his own, similar to Mel Blanc, but can have great chemistry with anyone he works with either a well known voice actor like Paul Rugg and Jim Cummings or a well-known big name like Danny Trejo and Jayma Mays.
Tumblr media
However, unlike All King Julien which was nominated for a ton of awards and won some, TAOPIB was only able to won one award for Outstanding Casting for an Animated Series or Special and add that to being on a spinoff show to a film on a streaming service, the show wasn't as well known or talked about thanks to the sour reputation of those kinds of shows.
This also goes to Dulcinea that since most film franchises don't acknowledge other film related media, People prefer Puss to be with Kitty Softpaws who appeared both in the 2011 film and it's 2022 sequel Voiced by Desperado's Selma Hayek.
Tumblr media
Which to some people makes more sense. I mean not to slam Dulcinea but Kitty seems like the better match to Puss due to being more similar to him in terms of personality, appearing in the films first then the the TV show first, and her actress didn't appear in garbage like Epic Movie or the live action Smurfs films.
However, in my opinion, I prefer Puss with Dulcinea more. Now, I am not saying that Puss x Kitty sucks. I think they are also a great couple and the chemistry between Antonio Banderas and Selma Hayek is great but in terms to the Shrek franchise and it theme about opposites attracting like with Shrek and Fiona.
But since Puss and Kitty seem like the endgame if the ending of The Last Wish would suggest, It seems that Dulcinea was always going to be forgotten to the sands of Deamworks Animation history... or is she?
That's where my fanfic comes in.
Tumblr media
The Adventures of Puss and Dulcinea was my answer to this dilemma. Inspired by the The DragonSaver's GOTG fanfic, Half Worlders of the Galaxy, this fanfic puts Dulcinea into the events of the films either helping out or having cute romantic moments with Puss.
However, there is a problem with this. With Half Worlders of The Galaxy, that fic was written when the MCU was still loved and everyone wasn't acting like a wantabe Garth Enis taking pot shots at it every 24/7.
Shrek on the other hand....Well, Let's just say that the films between Shrek 2 and Puss in Boots weren't well received or worth remembering. Sure, Shrek Forever After had its moments but ending the film series with a plot inspired by Its A Wonderful Life isn't the most original idea.
That is where you come in.
I am looking for a co-writer or co-writers to help me develop my own version of Shrek the Third where I am going to write it as the last film in the Trilogy similar to others film trilogies like How to Train Your Dragon or Guardians of the Galaxy only everyone doesn't break up in the final film.
I decided to combine elements from Shrek the Third, Shrek Forever After, and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish into one plot with the 1st Puss in Boots film being a subplot in the past similar to films like The Godfather: Part 2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, I need some help with trying to make all of this work without it becoming a jumbled up mess so I am looking for someone that a fan of not just the films but also the Netflix Series as well as hating using tired or problematic cliches, women in the refrigerator, that might ruin the fanfic as a whole.
I have doc that has the Synopsis for my version of Shrek 3 and some character ideas for the the story I attached on to this post. I hope they are good ideas to all of you but I am open to some suggestions to improve it if you want to help.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lNXLXpwzSmK6G3fdqPm_JBVat35GT-DhjnjZ1Wr592U/edit?usp=drivesdk
To contact me, DM me on either my Tumblr account, my Twitter account, or my Instagram account if you are interested in being apart of this.
You can also comment on this post as way to apply if that's more easier to all of you.

Haman Karn and audience reception of female antagonists
Tumblr media
I am not just an Azula fan, I have a broad and healthy appreciation of girlbosses in all their forms, and one of my favorites of the archetype is Haman Karn from Zeta and ZZ Gundam. Seriously, she walked so the rest of our faves could fly. More under the cut.
Now, this little blog post is going to be at least partly speculative. I don’t know for sure how how Haman Karn was received during the initial broadcast of Zeta in 1986 and ZZ in 1987. But I do know as a longtime Gundam fan that the second and third outings in the Gundam franchise were a high-water mark for female characters in Gundam, and the franchise has, at best, stagnated and usually backslid since. The Origin fleshed out parts of Sayla Mass’s story that were left on the cutting room floor so that’s really the only notable exception prior to this fall’s forthcoming Witch from Mercury, which will have the franchise’s first female protagonist.
People usually have one of two opinions on Zeta in the English speaking anime world: “best of the franchise” or “i have never heard of this.” It got its localization contracted just before Toonami decided to pull the plug on Gundam broadcasts after the one-two punch of the original having disappointing ratings and September 11 made the violence of the series less palatable--the background of the opening narration depicts the use of city-killing WMDs in the form of deorbited space colonies.
So Zeta survived on DVD sales only, while the immediate sequel didn’t get an official localization, finally releasing as a subtitle only BD/DVD in 2015, and only getting put on CrunchyRoll this year (2022).
So the only people who watched are people who were already Gundam fans, and people who were likely to be older to pay for what was at the time a niche product, or something they’d have to acquire a fansub for.
So who is Haman Karn? She’s a Neo-Zeon warlord who assumed control of a remote mining colony and military base, and returned to the Earth sphere in the middle of a ongoing colonial uprising against the despotic Earth Federation emergency regime. Seven years after the end of the One Year War, the world is still a huge mess, with many of the heros from the original forced to fight against their own government by the tyrannical Titans state security force, the Zeon-hunting organization that has become the small gear turning the large gear in the Federation.
And into this mess, which has seen magnificent bastard Char (under a pseudonym) fighting with the heroes, on the same side as his rival Amuro, Haman shows up bound and determined to make this mess worse.
Tumblr media
Look at this demon baby...she even has a knife!
Haman has a lot of the qualities people love (and love to hate) in characters like Azula. She is a young and extremely competent female antagonist with a deep personal relationship with a previous fan favorite (Char). She is often smug and manipulative. In spite of her general sense of duty towards her people and their cause, that cause is a deeply destructive and evil one (Zeon in Gundam is a pastiche of currents of Japanese right-wing futurism viz the Kodoha clique and the pseudo-left anti-imperialism of Kita Ikki and some elements of the student movement).
In Zeta Haman is a spanner in the works, a sometimes ally, sometimes adversary of the protagonists who ends up maneuvering for supremacy in a three-way conflict with both the heroes and the series big bad Paptimus Sirocco, who is Jupiterian in both the Emmanuel Macron personalist/Bonapartist political sense as well as literally from Jupiter. Haman is the ultimate victor of this battle; she not only defeats Char in a one-on-one, possibly killing him (his fate was left ambiguous), but her forces come out in the best shape. Zeta’s protagonist Kamille Bidan beats Sirocco, but is left catatonic from the psychic resonance (it’s Newtypes, I don’t have time to explain...)
Haman goes on to be the big bad in Gundam ZZ (it’s usually pronounced Gundam Double-Zeta). Not only does the general trend of gaslight, gatekeep, girlbossing continue, she intensifies and double-downs on it. War crimes ensue. And not the silly sense that fandom talks about characters like Azula being war criminals because they don’t like them, I mean actual violations of the laws of armed conflict like the use of WMDs on open cities. She does get somewhat chickified because one of the long-running subplots is her attraction to Double Zeta’s protagonist Judau Ashta (it’s another Newtype thing...just think of it like their souls touching through some psychic stuff), but it’s played more for tragedy. In the end she cannot let go of her pride, and chooses to die when defeated rather than accept Judau’s alternate perspective.
Haman in sum has all the hallmarks of the villainous woman in the traditionally male sphere. She’s stoic, manipulative, hypercompetent, but also emotionally closed off. She can’t femme fatale, and her few romantic overtures are clumsy. Nonetheless, she has complicated, multi-faceted relationships with multiple male characters, including a series fave, and often beats them at their own game.
Yet she’s also consistently a pretty well liked character in both the English and Japanese fandoms. There is no shortage of moeified fanart of her, and she’s showed up as a cameo in several other series like the Build Fighters one.
So what went wrong elsewhere? Perhaps it’s because Haman was intended to be a sympathetic character from the start by Tomino, unlike Bryke’s relative disinterest towards Azula’s internality, for example. It’s long been a pet theory of mine that Haman began conceptually as the next arc for Sayla Mass, another fave in the Gundam franchise. Perhaps I’ll do a whole post on that subject someday, but in brief, Sayla is Char’s estranged sister, both of whom have been living under assumed names in exile from their home colony after their father’s assassination. Sayla’s plotline in the original got slightly truncated due to the episode count being slashed, but in the original outline she was supposed to lead a soldier mutiny in Zeon in the final part, taking off the character masque of Sayla and becoming Artesia Deikun again (this was restored in the expanded The Origin manga by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu, who was Tomino’s right-hand man on the original series).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There may be a slight resemblance...
Sayla unfortunately had to be cut from Zeta because the voice actress was on a year long Safari in Africa (it was the 80s, I guess people just did that sort of thing). So somewhere in development, a character who also has a complicated personal relationship with Char, a stoic and serious female character who looks like if Sayla decided to dye her hair and cut her bangs, shows up again on the opposite side of the conflict from Char, who’s doing his best at trying to be a hero...really gets the old noggin joggin’.
It could also be a matter of audience. Gundam is aimed more towards a slightly older demographic than many western animated shows, particularly one like Avatar, and it’s also a pre-internet show. People had time to grow up and form more nuanced opinions and weren’t dumped unvarnished into a fandom space very early. Or they were American adults experiencing the show for the first time as adults, with some background for nuance.
But there’s plenty of people who first watched Avatar the Last Airbender as adults who also have extremely hyperbolic opinions about Azula. The reception towards Rey from the Star Wars sequels, who let’s be honest here, is neither overpowered compared to her male counterparts nor does she have a strong, domineering personality, also points to the fact that older fans are far from immune to knee-jerk toxicity. If anything, they were worse with Rey.
In fact I find the audience reception of Rey even more baffling, because from the very start Rey is clearly communicated in terms that make her relatable to the audience of Star Wars fans. She is, after all, a fangirl in-universe, living in her mundane world dreaming of the big adventures outside of the meager existence salvaging scrap on Jakku, keenly interested in the old ‘legends’ about people like Luke Skywalker or Han Solo.
What then is the answer? Fandom I guess is an often toxic space, and I can’t find any clear answers. Sometimes villainous female characters get generally well liked and appreciated, and other times they’re treated with such comically hyperbolic disdain it would be funny if it weren’t so damn stupid. I am interested in hearing what you have to think.

800 before the end of December is looking nearly impossible smh but eyyy! 777~
NGL, I'm movie and ova grinding so hard. I usually manage to watch 100 new things a year, but this year I instead rewatched nearly 40 things. It's been a big year for nostalgia for me, but also for getting a few people into different things with me! Vampy has personally watched so much stuff with me this year? Oh my God??? It's been a blast! I have never felt more human than when Vampy and Kimchi enjoyed Dragon Maid along side me, I swear. I also got Vampy into Enstars by starting the anime together and I am delighted >:3 Made this in celebration actually >:3 @shut-in-magical-girl
Tumblr media
That said, I have actually watched some actual shows too, such as the first season of Oreimo and the first two seasons of Kami Nomi! Those were actually really fun. The first season of Oreimo has some of the most impassioned speeches I've ever heard about the more ""controversial"" sides of anime. I did admittedly have a love-hate relationship with Kirino at first, but honestly, it was just because of the more wildly exaggerated tsundere tropes. They became easier to laugh off after awhile. I really relate to the way she loves the hobby, and I think it really helped me warm up to her more quickly. How she enjoys collecting and getting excited over it... I relate to that in those same ways lol specifically to her Meruru shrine lol (ik no one asked, but aside from Krino, my best girl is actually Saori. I look forward to seeing more of her every time an episode comes on! :3) Also, Idk why I skipped Kami Nomi for so many years, but I legit just left it on my P2W list for a decade lol. I've only had one other person ever recommend it to me as well;; and that was like 4-5 years ago now lol;; I slowed down with playing eroge and bishoujo games around,,, 2015/2016(?), but I used to play them religiously. Keima should probably not be someone I relate to... but here I am. Relating to him. While nowadays my main passion lies in the animation side of things, I still really find relatability and comfort within this specific Reference Humor genre of anime, so I've really enjoyed this series so far. I finished up Irregular Witch too :( First show from the current airing block that I've actually completed. Bittersweet, but I had fun with that one too. I'm going to especially miss seeing Phoenix every week. I find that I usually watch whatever comedies are airing when I do tune into the blocks as they air, and this one was a really nice companion piece for the heavier stuff I've been keeping up with. I watched a few other full series, but this next one is the last I'm mentioning for now. I might make more posts another time; we'll see. Two of my favorites that I got around to during my sick week are these two next mentions; first up is Wotakoi. I am devastated that there isn't more Wotakoi. Help. They covered pretty much all of the manga according to other fans, so it's unlikely more will come out of it. It always hurts a bit when something is fully finished, though. especially when I enjoyed it so much. I might read it just for the sake of wanting more of it. It was really straight forward and was honestly a breath of fresh air. There weren't any real love rivals or anything; just nerds figuring themselves out and their dynamics out. I literally just watched six weirdos make friends and fall in love with fairly no complications involved. I'm thriving. (Or maybe I'm just a lonely, nerdy adult who is tired of drama in my life. Maybe that's the only takeaway here lmao /lh) And then,,,, finally,,, Magical Witch Punie-Chan. I have... No words. It was amazing. I loved it. I haven't laughed that hard in awhile. 4 episode OVA with an additional 4 episode Omake after. Wonderful if you like darker gag-humor series and want a short little trip. This one was weird but delightful, truly. P.S. I kept "Lyrical Tolkarev~ Kill Them All!~" as my discord status for like 3 days lol That theme song is going to live in my head rent free for the rest of my days. As for what I'm most excited for in 2024, there's probably, like, A LOT. But off of the top of my head, I can name the next Given project (PLEASEEEEEEEEECOMEOUTALREADYYESSSSGIVEITTOMEEEE JANUARY27THCANNOT COME FAST ENOUGHHH) and the second season of Bokuyaba (one of the only manga I have bothered with in 15 years, going to be so real right now;; I cherish this story). When these things come out, I know for a fact that my blog is going to briefly implode. Apologies about it ahead of time lol!;; I'll probably be saying more as the currently airing series all come to an end over the coming weeks. There's quite a few I don't want to end TT~TT so talking about them might be nice!

Kind of an add-on, but I've been observing the response to the INSIDE OUT 2 teaser.
I haven't seen this kind of response to an upcoming Pixar movie in a while. Where it seems like the film/toonsphere on the internet is united in anticipating a Pixar movie... Because ELEMENTAL, LIGHTYEAR, and TURNING RED got all kinds of jeers from various (and largely toxic) swamps of the internet. But it seems like there's no complaint about INSIDE OUT 2...
Anxiety seems to be the film's Grogu. People are already falling in love with the character and especially her funky design. I see praise for a female Pixar character that isn't all perfect-looking or overtly "feminized", a man's idea of what a female character looks like vs. a funkier-looking male character. I think Anxiety's design, and what we saw in TURNING RED and such kinda steer us away from Lasseter's very "boys' club" Pixar, or as one person on twitter once put it, "For dads, by dads".
Also, a lot of us suffer from anxiety, myself included, so for a lot of people this character will be super (forgive me for using this word) relatable. First film was basic primal emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, Fear... And in this film we have a literal mental illness with Anxiety.
This film will singlehandedly cure Disney's animation box office blues. WISH is also apparently tracking very well and will likely outgross ELEMENTAL domestically and maybe soar above it worldwide, too. It costs around the same amount, so $500m should be the floor here. ELEMENTAL just barely missed that, but Disney top brass considered it a success while the praise lauded its leggy run as a "comeback story".
INSIDE OUT was massive back in 2015, and made some incredible numbers for an original movie not based on any pre-existing IP. Performed similarly to the likes of FINDING NEMO and THE INCREDIBLES, made well over $800m at the worldwide box office. With the 9-year wait and the astounding amount of trailer views? Easy billion right here. Perhaps Disney and Pixar knew what was on hand, and probably delayed ELIO - previously set to open this coming March - all the way to summer 2025 for that reason. (That, and - supposedly - to have some time to fix its story troubles. Post-strike, they can get the voice cast back now. Again, if that's all true.)
While box office is largely silly, it'll be cool to see a Pixar film not "flop" again. ELEMENTAL barely checked out, so INSIDE OUT 2 will be their first bona fide smash hit since... TOY STORY 4 all the way back in 2019. A sequel, no less. Hey, remember how the surprise appearance of Forky in the TOY STORY 4 teaser had the internet a-blazin' for a brief bit? Anxiety gives that kind of energy. Maybe a good secret weapon is a neurotic, jumpy character? (Thinking back to it, that TOY STORY 4 teaser is *brilliant*.) It's why people tend to talk about panic attack scenes a lot. I think the generations from millennials (mine) on down are more upfront about their mental health struggles, and the lot of us love to see it represented in some way or another.
From the teaser, I can't quite say much about Anxiety other than love that incredible design. I wonder if its portrayal will, in some way or another, really hit me hard.
As for later Disney-released theatrical animation, I'm going to be curious to see how they go about original stuff. ELIO would've given us an idea of that if it had come out in March 2024 as initially planned, but now post-WISH, we'll have to wait 'til Disney Animation's presumably-original movie comes out in November 2024. It'd be a little disheartening to see only a bunch of sequels (this, TOY STORY 5, ZOOTOPIA 2, and FROZEN III) do well while the originals have trouble.
Worth noting that the biggest animated movies domestically are largely franchise favorites or adaptations of beloved properties. Illumination's SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE reigns supreme with over $570m followed by SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE and MINIONS Deux, both of which made over $360m respectively... And then well behind that is PUSS IN BOOTS Dos with $185m, and then SING 2 above $160m. ELEMENTAL is the biggest original so far with $154m. Worldwide's a different beast, as ELEMENTAL outdid PUSS IN BOOTS 2 in overall global gross, for example.
But WISH doing good (with, say, $180m+ domestic and $600m+ worldwide) followed by INSIDE OUT 2 easily breaking the big billion will make for a nice upward trajectory for Disney-released theatrical animation... So that would make WDAS #63 the interesting one to follow. Does that repeat WISH's success? Does WISH's box office inform WDAS films going forward? We shall see.

FICTIONAL CHARACTER ASK: ZOOT
Asked by @fragglesesamemuppetz2
@princesssarisa @softlytowardthesun @the-blue-fairie @themousefromfantasyland @thealmightyemprex @moonbeamelf
Favorite Thing About Them: He is a Muppet with jewish cultural heritage who can play classical music, jazz and rock and roll, jams with the gang of the Electric Mayhem, Rowlf the Dog and the Muppet Theater Orchestra, is ditzy and constantly falling aesleep while still showing a sensitive and empathetic personality to the other characters and is overall very chill despite all the surrounding chaos when the Muppets have to work and put it on a show.
Least Favorite Thing About Them: The version of his character design that makes him a weird tone of brown rather than blue in some scenes and the ending credits of the original Muppet Show was just ugly to look at, it seemed like it was a puppet whose fabric was getting consumed by mold.
Three Things I Have In Common With Them:
*I enjoy a dirt joke on some ocasions;
*I can be a bit ditzy;
*I have jewish heritage;
Three Things I Don't Have In Common With Them:
*I don't play the saxophone;
*I'm not precociously bald;
*I don't wear sunglasses on my eyes all the time;
Favorite Line:
From the TV special The Muppets at the Walt Disney World:
"It is written: a zebra and a geranium should never use the same toothbrush."
This dialogue he exchanges with Dr. Teeth from the TV special A Muppet Christmas: Letters to Santa:
"Dr. Teeth: Hey Zoot, I had no idea you celebrated Hannukah!
Zoot: Shalom!"
This dialogue he exchanges with Yolanda the Rat when drawing a birthday card for Sweetums, from the 2015 ABC series the muppets. :
"Yolanda: Hey, be nice. No dirty drawings.
Zoot: Oh. I can make it look like a saxophone."
This dialogue he exchanges with Janice from the comic Treasure of Peg Leg Wilson, comenting about Animal acting all quiet and formal:
"Janice: Is it just me, or is Animal, like, looking weeeird?"
Zoot: Weird.
Janice: I mean different-from-normal weird...
Zoot: That too."
From the same comic, while he reacts to is happening to Animal
"'Sup?"
"Later, buddy."
From the comic Muppet Robin Hood, where he is a medieval rocker bard version of himself
"Thank you very much! We love you! Good night!"
"Yeah, man".
From the comic Muppet Peter Pan, where he is a retro hippie, taking the place of the native americans from the original J M Barrie play:
"Drag."
From the comic Muppet Snow White, where he played the dwarf Sleepy:
"A stone floor?! Always tought it was linoleum."
"Hey, our beds were made! Zzzzzzzzzz..."
"Wha-What?! Where are we?"
brOTP: Mahna Mahna, Rowlf the Dog, Nigel the Conductor, Crazy Harry, Dolores (Trumpet Girl), Dr. Teeth, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Lips, Clifford, Scooter, Spamela Hamderson.
OTP: Janice, Floyd Pepper, Mahna Mahna.
nOTP: Dr Teeth.
Random Headcanon: He has narcolepsy, a disorder that makes a person fall aesleep suddenly.
Unpopular Opinion: The weed and alcoholism jokes that some writers and fans make about him can get pretty weak and cheap. Like, it's likely that all the band could use weed, not just Zoot. In the muppets. first episode there is a moment where it seens he comfused a work day reunion with an AA meeting, wich I must repeat: "Alcoholism is a serious discussion, if a writer doesn't intend to develop it, maybe it shouldn’t be mentioned in a quick gag in the first place".

A Look At Stuff You Probably Never Heard Of: My Love Story!!
I know, I missed Valentine’s Day. I’ve been busy. But I’m doing this now. Today, we’re taking a look at a series all about romance! Today, we’ll be taking a look at... “My Love Story!!”
Tumblr media
My Love Story!! (Ore Monogatari!!) is romantic-comedy series written by Kazune Kawahara and illustrated by Aruko, with the manga being published by Shueisha and running from October 13th, 2011 to July 13th, 2016 across 13 volumes. It would later get an anime adaptation by Madhouse that aired from April 8th, 2015 to September 23rd, 2015.
Tumblr media
My Love Story!! follows three characters in particular. The main protagonist being Takeo Gōda, a first-year high school student that towers over everyone around him, including most adults. He’s naturally large and strong, with many women finding him off-putting or frightening. However, he’s popular among men for his physique, strength, and vitality. Despite his large appearance, he’s very kind-hearted and selfless, caring more about others than himself. But because of his appearance and somewhat obliviousness, people can get the wrong idea. For example, one incident has him protecting grade-schoolers from a pervert by standing in front of the school, keeping a watchful eye. But people ended up mistaking him for the pervert instead. Growing up, he had several crushes, but the girls turn him down in favorite of his best friend, Makoto “Suna” Sunakawa. Makoto Sunakawa is the exact opposite of Takeo, being serious, rational, and highly attractive who has girls falling head-over-heels for him. But despite that, he remains single, always rejecting their advances. Despite his serious personality, he occasionally bursts into laughter because of Takeo’s behavior or antics. And finally, Rinko Yamato is Takeo’s girlfriend. She’s about as kindhearted as he is and has a fondness for cooking sweets. She’s wholly devoted to Takeo, to the point of sometimes getting flustered when thinking about him, just as he gets flustered when thinking about her.
The plot is that while riding a train with Makoto, he spots Rinko being groped and immediately steps in to save her, causing Rinko to fall in love with him almost instantly. However, due to the groper running his mouth and disrespecting Rinko, Takeo punches the an and gets suspended from school. It isn’t long before Rinko invites Makoto and Takeo together and sharing her sweets with them, causing Takeo to assume she’s interested in Makoto, just like every other girl, so he vows to make sure they end up together, despite him having a crush on Rinko himself, as he doesn’t want to see her heart get broken.
However, Makoto gets her to say that she loves Takeo instead, causing the two to start dating. The rest of the series is the two going on various romantic outings; a day at the beach, a group date, and going on a picnic. Of course, being a comedy-romance series, hi-jinks and comedy is abound.
Tumblr media
As stated above, the series is a romcom, so romance and comedy are at the forefront. While there is action, it’s all very mundane and slice-of-life. If it does get over-the-top, it’s usually used for comedic effect or keeps the action contained to real-life settings, like when Takeo is holding up a massive steel beam.
The series also enjoys taking advantage of various expressions. While Makoto doesn’t react much, Takeo has a lot of over-the-top reactions and expressions, as does Rinko.
And now, time for the Final Recommendation Never Let Go Of It||Get It||Hold Onto It||Try It||Consider It||Stay Away From It
Honestly, this series is really charming! It is a romcom and any and every sense of the word; lots of love and lots of laughs. But the biggest thing about this series is definitely the romance. The love between Takeo and Rinko is genuine. A common occurrence in the series is one of them saying “I love him/her” when the other does practically anything.
However, there are some less-than-loving moments. Nothing serious, mind you, but, well... how do I put it? There are times where the two have a problem, but completely personal. Basically, they massively love each other, but they sometimes feel like they aren’t enough. For example, when the two go to a beach as part of a group date, Takeo has trouble looking at Rinko without being enamored and absolutely smitten and doesn’t want to look at her in a lecherous way until Makoto tells him to think of her swimsuit like any other article of clothing. However, Rinko specifically wanted to make his heart skip, so when he acts normally, she feels he doesn’t find her attractive. Another example is Makoto’s father needing surgery and Takeo wants to support his best friend, but the surgery is on the same day as Rinko’s birthday.
I also want to take a brief moment to talk about Makoto. As stated before, girls fawn over Makoto, but he remains single. As I mentioned previously, every girl Takeo has a crush on ends up asking Makoto out. How things went was that Takeo would ask them but, but they’d turn him down. Makoto rejects those girls because he heard them talk about about Takeo behind his back and he refuses to date someone who would speak so poorly of his best friend. Of course, those girls make fun of him for his appearance. Rinko is the one girl he accepts because she sees Takeo as the genuinely good person he is, regardless of how he looks.
All in all, this anime is nothing but feelgood moments and the love and dedication between Takeo and Rinko are on full display. Like Takeo vowing to protect her from mosquitoes, or Rinko’s love giving Takeo the strength to win a judo match. Of course, there’s good comedy. Mostly from Takeo, but a few from Rinko too.

And so, I’ll see you guys next month! I have a few things planned for March.

8 shows to get to know you
I was tagged by @emiliosandozsequence!!💖
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – I don’t think this one comes as a surprise to anyone who knew me before 2015. This was the show that got me into anime, the show that got me on Tumblr, and one of the most perfectly constructed stories to exist. So much of who I am is attributed to this show. Edward Elric’s determination even in the face of impossible adversity has helped me in so many ways since I watched this in middle school. I have watched this series at least 8 times over. The story and characters are perfectly cyclical, and the darker elements are completely earned. If you haven’t watched this show yet and you like anime, what are you even doing?
Hunter x Hunter (2011) – This is probably my favorite anime of all time and I highly doubt anything will ever top it (FMAB is a close second). This show carried me through some really depressing times in high school and early college. I made unforgettable friends in this fandom; my most popular fanfic to date is from this fandom. HxH destroyed everything I thought I knew about how narratives and characterization work. Every character is so 3-dimensional despite the seemingly simplistic storytelling. The animation is beautiful, the plot and characters are so endearing and sublimely constructed. Despite watching the entire series at least 4 times over, certain character moments will never stop me from crying for just how much these characters and this series means to me.
Spongebob Squarepants – What is there to say about Spongebob. The zany atmosphere, the absolute buffoonery. I would not be the master of meme humor I am today if not for Spongebob. I have no idea who I would be in general without Spongebob. As always, this counts for earlier seasons more than later ones, but my point still stands.
Fairly Odd Parents – Unfortunately, given its shitty creator and shittier new seasons, I hate mentioning this one at all now, but it’s true. Timmy Turner’s home situation and unflappable desire for mischief and adventure never failed to draw me in as a kid. I often wished I had my own fairy godparents to get me in and out of trouble, being the lonely kid I was. Timmy Turner is probably one of the first fictional characters I saw myself in in general, paving the way for the insanity of many others.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars – No one goes as hard as The Clone Wars when it comes to turning a meme-y prequel trilogy into some of the most powerful, compelling, and emotional storytelling to exist on TV. I already really liked Star Wars as a kid, and even the prequel trilogy, and yet I didn’t get around to watching this show until it was on Netflix in 2016. It changed my life; of course, Ahsoka Tano had a huge part in that. I expected her to be just another cartoon protagonist who would contribute to the fall of Anakin in some way, but what actually ended up happening and who she became completely floored me with its development à la Episode III. It’s so empowering to watch, and brilliant to behold its methodical unfolding.
Garden of Sinners – I have only watched this show twice, but both times it changed me as a person. Despite watching it originally in middle school, it has stuck in my mind as one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have ever experienced. That still holds true. I recently rewatched it in January. Shiki is such a nuanced, tragic, and compelling character. The dark topics addressed in the series are treated with a depth and nuance that I have seldom seen anywhere else. This series has really impacted how I approach storytelling to this day in my own writing, something I didn’t realize until this year. It’s not a show I remember all the details of, and yet so much of it defines my tastes and style now.
Helluva Boss – Listen, if you haven’t watched Helluva Boss yet, and you like profane language and adult animation, you’re missing out, man. Not only is this show absolutely hilarious with that kind of zany, dark, and random humor I enjoy, but the characters are so endearing and entertaining. The animation is unique and colorful. The latest episode (s2 ep3) really got to me, as did s1 eps6 and 7. Not every episode is an amazing hit, but this is the shit when it comes to indie and adult animation y’all, and if you haven’t watched it, you should go do that right now.
The Untamed (2019) – What can I even say about The Untamed at this point. I started watching it in September 2021 with a friend as a joke. It’s really hokey. The lighting is terrible. Some of the plot makes no fucking sense. But the acting is really good. And I was going along, thinking to myself “wow this plot is really stupid.” And I was right. It is really stupid. And then I got to the end, and the unreliable narrator villain reveals he’s actually a poor little meowmeow, and he’s the one who killed his divorcee clan leader husband. Oh my. And he goes off on a glorious homosexual rant about it. My heart. I must now dedicate my entire fanfiction career to this little meowmeow, and let me say, I have few regrets. I feel my writing scope and ability went from 10 to 100 in the span of a year thanks to this meowmeow. The rest of the show is fun now too, but god, I’m really only here for Jin Guangyao (and his husbands).
The only live-action show on this list is The Untamed. If that doesn’t tell you something about my tastes and my particular brand of insanity... I don’t know what will. Feel free to fill this out if you want!!

The fact you remember where I'm from and that is spring here is quite cute ^^ I've been seeing so much about fall on social media, but my vibes are different right now, I'm on flower and pretty colors vibes 🌸💐 I hope you reunite with your Sweet Bill soon, you sound so lovely together!!
And about the video, I wish it was me and Seonghwa 🥺 it would be adorable! This Wednesday is national holiday in Brazil, so, as I don't have work or uni, I'm thinking on finally watching Star Wars. What do you think? If you know a lot about the franchise, could you point me to the right direction, please? :D
Ooh, Star Wars advice. That is going to vary from fan to fan. More often than anything useful you are going to get a ramble from the person about what works for them and the place the movies found them in their life. But hey, it is my page so I can ramble. It is a deep world with lots of television shows and books too, but my knowledge is limited to the movies, and I haven't even seen all of them yet. I like the well known characters R2-D2 and C-3PO from my childhood and the more recent BB-8.
The short answer is if you just want to try one to see if you might like more the original 1977 movie that started the franchise. It is a fun adventure called Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Alternately, the 2015 Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens is another good one if you want a more modern looking movie.
PC Magazine has a nice roundup of the movies and several suggested orders to see them. It is also fine to just watch one and decide trying once was enough Star Wars in your life. Alternately, the recent streaming shows like The Mandalorian might be more interesting than the movies so there are many ways to sample Star Wars. That's on my viewing list one day since I love the character people were calling Baby Yoda until he got a name in the story.
Two other things that may be of interest upfront, you might enjoy the adult reader insert stories of Tenelkadjowrites about Star Wars. (She is really the one to ask about Star Wars, even her username is from the wider Star Wars world!) I already liked her Seonghwa writing so seeing more work in a different fandom was fun too.
Also, my love of K-pop costuming has me smiling when I see somebody dressed in clothes that could pass for something from Star Wars. Yoongi from BTS had a photo shoot where he could have stepped off the set of the 1977 movie and Seonghwa of course keeps making me think Star Wars with his flowing outfits and swords.
On to the more personal answer with pictures (including my underwear!) and a video of the worst entry in the franchise but one of my favorites anyway!
A little too young for the first movie, I did have some of the action figures growing up and loved playing Star Wars with my friends. I was the right age to appreciate one of the most hated elements of Star Wars- the sort-of-cute teddy bearish Ewoks from the 1983 movie Return of the Jedi. I even bought Ewok Underoos recently but can only show the package I saved because I did not follow the no-heat in the dryer instructions and the iron-on design peeled right off my shirt.
Tumblr media
I love BB-8 the most and have a lot of stuff with that character including a pillow, backpack, and plate.
Tumblr media
So, I like the cute stuff and my love of Star Wars is shown in stuffed animals too. Here are Max Rebo, C-3PO, R2-D2, and a jawa hanging out at the end of the hallway at my house.
Tumblr media
And I like the designs of the storm trooper costumes too so have one of those toys in my room along with a second BB-8 backpack and a matching luggage out of shot.
Tumblr media
And last, the worst entry in the Star Wars World- the children’s Ewok movie The Battle For Endor. I was eleven when it came out and liked it. Now I can look at the trailer below and see the fern filled redwood forests I am familiar with now that I live in the San Francisco bay area. Bill says we even have some of those fern types in the backyard but he is insistent it is not because he likes Ewoks.
youtube
So my final answer is there are many ways to enjoy Star Wars including just the toys or taking one look and realizing it might not be your thing and all are perfectly reasonable ways to feel about the franchise. If you like it, there is always more to see, but it is okay if it is just a movie to you. For me it is mostly the show where some favorite characters came from.

To Be Me (2015) by Anna Höglund
Rosa is on the edge of becoming a teenager and shares her thoughts of boys, periods, jealousy, body image and sexualization of young girls by older men. She spends her time making a comic about women's history. I don't have much to say beside relating a lot to this kind of thoughts from when i was that age. The drawings are brighter than this author's other books, and the handwritten text is thankfully easy to comprehend and read! 3/5 stars

Life in a Shoebox (2018) by Liv Marit Weberg
I really liked this book!! It reminds me so so much of one of my favorite animes "Watamote", where a girl tries to fit in with her peers and society only to try so hard she get completely weird. The second hand embarrassment is funny, relatable and deliciously awkward.
Rose just moved to another city to study at a university. Running 10 minutes late to the very first class, she falls into a loop kinda like "well they're gonna be mad at me for being late that last time so.. now when i overslept again might as well try next time .. and oh now it's gone too long to even show my face at all, wow going to class is really difficult puh". I was also like this!! 👏
Instead she goes full NEET on student loan (how long til they realize she isn't attending class?) and starts dating the first guy to ever talk to her on campus. Him thinking they had a moment and asks her later to be his gf. She's however only kinda waiting the relationship to run it's course, funny enough at Christmas she can't think of any gifts to get him so she pulls out — a heckin envelope with 500 SEK in it, and a non personalized note saying "Merry Christmas :)". She tries to save the situation by hitting him between the shoulders, saying "Get yourself something nice!" like a grandparent omg. He ofc breaks up with her.
After the breakup and failed study attempt, the parents are worried and suggest a monthly pay to help her back on her feet. When her parents asks what Rose's plan is, she honestly tells them that she's gonna live out the student loan and then live on their monthly "help". The parents go livid so she quickly lies that she has another class ongoing which calms them down.
Rose follows her plan by living on the student loan while barely leaving the apartment for months. Til the last month arrive and she has miscalculated, student loans are only transferred for 10 months, not 11. She has to call her parents for help to be able to buy food.
The mother noticing her daughter is actually following up the plan she presented them, decides to financially cut her off completely. Rose has to go look for a job, which is really really difficult since she lacks any skills, hate social interactions and is unmotivated.
Somehow, she lands a job at a station pub. Which might seem odd because those are always buzzing with social activities BUT this pub is basically a dead fish in the water. There's no customers (and if there were, the pub has literally nothing to offer) so it's perfect for Rose to just stand around, pretending to work.
The boss however decides to "follow his writing dreams" and hires another girl. And they are planning to start some sort of art magazine. Suddenly there's a lot of people in there and Rose has to actually DO WORK, and her anxiety is completely visible & understandable.
The magazine people have a beer party at the pub, Rose gets drunk. Her ex is there, and he's having a baby with the newly hired girl (they're all 20). The new girl calls Rose a "r*tard" and is baffled to found out her bf was with such a monotone person. Rose checks out and connects with one of the magazine people, a shy guy with glasses. Turns out he's also her neighbor - and have 38 baby rats. They connect over the rats and other things, and soon antisocial Rose visits him daily.
One day, glasses guy informs her he's quitting the magazine to work at his aunt's pet store, in the town over, so he has to move. Rose gets really upset about this, but glasses guy suggest she go with him? And she's like, heck yea! And her parents are happy for her. But at the last chapter, Rose takes a moment to tell herself not to get too comfortable because the "ball of life" will keep on rolling, that there'll definitely be bumps along the way, but nonetheless the "ball will keep rolling". 5/5 stars

Okami Watches...
Okay, I need to get these new thoughts out of my head proper, or I will be upset.
If you've noticed, my last few ramblings were from a recent rewatch of Ushio & Tora, one of my favorite anime ever. First saw the OVA at... I wanna saw Arisia (a sci-fi con in the Boston area) back in the mid to late 90s, I think. Then, I heard about a reboot being done more recently (ugh 2015 REALLY?! Fucking time, man...). Okay... relatively more recent than the OG. And I LOVED IT. Brought back all the fun and action and banter I loved from the original, but then continued onward. But something occurred to me as my brain was swirling around and digesting the show after the binge, figuring out what it was I liked about Aotsuki Ushio.
Firstly, what I love about Ushio, is he is a stubborn optimist. Hope incarnate. I know the whole "gets back up when knocked down" is a shounen trope (and one many of us love), but I feel like Ushio just... takes more each time to go down, and always struggles back to his feet, teeth gritted and embodying hope itself. He gets absolutely wrecked so many times (and worse a couple times), but he gets back up. Doesn't "shrug it off", like some do. It feels more like he takes in how he was knocked down, acknowledges it and gets better, if only a little bit. He is also willing to shoulder the pain of others - even if they are not very well acquainted - to spare them the suffering. Are you a person who is suffering in some way, driven to sadness or pain? Aotsuki will do all he can to get a smile on your face and the burden off your shoulders. And the fact that he is compassionate enough to begin to realize that there are a LOT of yokai who are just as much people as humans, and they fall into all of the things I mentioned before. He has tears for his enemies, and sometimes those enemies aren't enemies for long. In one episode, there is an enraged yokai, who has been driven from his home time and time again, and has vowed to kill humans in revenge, terrorizing local villages as a preamble to moving on to larger cities, Ushio tells this yokai (a kamaitachi) to kill him instead. If it would make the yokai feel better, if it would banish his hatred, then he was willing to let the yokai kill him, so no other humans would have to die. But just as importantly so the yokai would no longer be suffering from all-consuming hate. The episode is really good, and a lot of feels. I realized that Ushio is what I wish I could be - I am stubborn, and an optimist (and sometimes both at once, like him), but he is much more self-sacrificing for others than I feel I could be, and so supportive you could build a house foundation with how much he supports everyone. And that might just be the line between reality and a shonen protag's fictional life. But I do try to be better. And then the aforementioned occurrence of thought was this:
Aotsuki Ushio is in almost every one of my OCs.
But. more specifically, in Akagi, Xano and Rav (all three of them tanks of sort, HMMM). Now, this it not to say that these three fellas are the same. They are each distinct from one another (I was even pondering mentioning Xano as one of the inspirations for Akagi on one of those "Name six characters who influenced your WoL" things; and I still might!). But they all share similar hard-headed, optimistic views, they are fiercely loyal to their friends and family, are willing to jump into danger to protect others, will give more support than Atlas on 'roids, and will drag themselves to their feet every time they are dropped.
And I really, really like that.
It resonates with me, and at least with my blorbos, they all have a little chunk of some aspect of me in them. And maybe that little chunk of an aspect is the one I share with my boy Ushio (Xano's stubborn "beat it till it stops moving" MO is probably more Tora, though. xD)
Anyway, I needed to get this thought bunny out of my brain pan to sleep, though it will probably keep hopping around for a bit in there anyway. -_- Take care, and if you have not checked out Ushio & Tora/Ushio to Tora, I HIGHLY recommend it. (I've not watched the dub yet, for nostalgia reasons, but there are some awesome VAs on the roster!)
~Okami, out.

Was Italy the first Hetalia character you instantly grew to love as your number one favourite, or was the first character you got into someone else?
thank you for the ask ♡
i normally try to keep my tangents to a minimum these days, but i am Sad so i will allow myself to ramble a little (and perhaps that was your intention)
so, yes, italy was the first character i immediately attached to. i said this before on here (i think) but i saw ger/ita fanart in 2014 and immediately felt drawn to the lil brunet boy (who was wearing a pale pink dress, i specifically remember), and i didn't truly get into hetalia until 2015 because frankly the show was really confusing. once i did actually get fully into the anime, italy was still immediately my favorite.
one very simple thing. pasta was my favorite food of all time. of course i would feel an immediate kinship to a guy who is also obsessed with it. but then, even a lot of other things i really related to in him as time went on and i learned more. i have dissociative identity disorder, and one of my alters back then was incredibly similar to him in terms of personality, too.
even as i've gotten older and gone through a lot more trauma and changed as a person, my love for the character never changed. i liked that he was relaxed, and playful and especially innocent. i don't really care anymore if that's a controversial thing in the fandom. it made me feel safe as someone who's never really known safety.
it's very important to me as someone with the trauma i have, to have someone safe to fall back on. it's one of my favorite things about his character. he's just… safe. doesn't like fighting or pain. or causing it for others. i don't know what it's like to live in a world that isn't full of fighting and pain, so it's comforting.
and uuum yeah. i don't wanna say too much publicly like this, but that's how i feel about him ♡ i obviously feel a lot more things about him now but what drew me to him initially is as i described. he felt like safety in a world where i was never safe. and… warmth in a world where i didn't know what that felt like.

João Silva or Joana Silva is a romance option in Diamond Nightingale-If. They come from the city of Lagos, located in the southern region of Portugal, and are currently 25 years old. They made their debut in the contest as runner-ups in the 2015 edition, which was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, when they were only 17 years old. Despite being underestimated by many, they managed to surprise everyone and earn Portugal their best result ever in the competition. To this day, they remain a fan favorite, thanks to their remarkable performances and unique style. On stage, they go by the name of Apolino. They were also the first Portuguese representative from the southern parts of Portugal, most Portuguese representatives from Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Braga or other parts of northern and central Portugal.
João and Joana are two very extroverted individuals who love to be the life of the party. They possess an infectious charm that can win over almost anyone they meet. They are very outgoing and are always up for a good time, making them a joy to be around. However, they do have a tendency to be a bit of a flirt, which can sometimes be misconstrued. They are not afraid to take risks, and as such, can be quite the party animals. They enjoy being in social settings and thrive on the energy that comes with it. They are not easily intimidated and are always willing to try new things, even if it means stepping outside their comfort zone. However, they can sometimes be easily distracted, which can lead to them losing focus on their goals. Overall, João and Joana's outgoing and charismatic personalities make them a delight to be around, but they also need to be mindful of staying focused and not letting their love for socializing get in the way of their responsibilities.
João has a tall stature and tanned complexion. His dark brown hair is short and wavy and falls in disarray across his forehead, he also has some light stubble on his face, accentuating his rugged and charming appearance. His eyes are a rich brown, and they are bright and expressive, revealing his playful and adventurous nature. With a chiseled jawline and sharp features, João has a handsome and alluring face that is sure to catch the attention of many. His build is lean and athletic. He carries himself with an air of confidence, and his easy smile and relaxed demeanor make him approachable and likable. He likes to dress in light colors like pastel blue, yellows, whites, reds, and oranges. Loose fitting shirts with different patterns and prints are a staple in his wardrobe. He pairs them with comfortable and stylish loose fitting t-shirts. João prefers clothes that allow him to move around freely and express his personality. He also loves wearing accessories like bracelets and necklaces, which add a touch of uniqueness to his outfits.
Joana has a similar tall stature and tanned complexion to João. Her dark brown hair is styled into multiple braids that fall down her back. Her eyes are the same rich brown color as João's and share the same bright and expressive nature, revealing her outgoing and charming personality. Her features are sharp and chiseled, giving her a striking and attractive appearance. Joana has a lean and athletic build, which gives her a confident and graceful posture. She shares the same Bohemian aesthetic as João, preferring light colors like pastel blue, yellows, whites, reds, and oranges in her wardrobe. She likes to wear maxi dresses, skirts, and caftans made from lightweight fabrics such as cotton or linen. She also likes to wear wide-legged pants, palazzo pants, and harem pants that allow her to move around freely. She pairs these with loose-fitting blouses or crop tops. Joana also loves layering, so she often wears vests, kimonos, or oversized cardigans over her outfits. When it comes to footwear, Joana prefers flat sandals or boots, often with intricate beading or embroidery. She completes her Bohemian look with accessories like hats, scarves, and oversized sunglasses.
João and Joana, just like Ilona, have never met MC before the contest. Their first encounter will take place at the Glass Dolphin, where they will serve as one of the interval acts between the contestants. They will also participate in almost all the pre-parties and will be one of the interval acts during the grand final. Depending on your choices, they can either be portrayed as male or female, and you can develop a friendly, negative, or even romantic relationship with them. They are open to being romanced by any MC. Their musical style is a blend of contemporary Portuguese and Latin music with influences from Cabaret/Burlesque. Their music is inspired by Mimicat, and her song "Ai Coração" from this year's Eurovision. Their song from 2015 is named “Luz solar”.
