Nancy Tremaine Ballgown ~ Enchanted

Inspired by #NancyTremaine’s #BallGown from “#Enchanted” (#idinaMenzel)

I went through a few different proofs/drafts of a design printed on s#watches from #Spoonflower to achieve the same pattern on the #fabric and get the #colors correct.  We went with a #satin to get the nice shine and #silkiness of the fabric.  It’s available to purchase at my Spoonflower (http://spoonflower.com/profiles/kaedralynn) if anyone has need of it!

This #gown has custom made #pockethoops boned with steel boning, and a #petticoat that goes over top.  Over top of that is the pink #underskirt, which is decorated with #layers and layers of gold #lace to achieve the correct look.  A very wide #embroidered gold lace was used for the base, a thicker scalloped embroidered lace on the top and bottom to overlay it, and #3D #rose lace #appliqués.  The skirt lace is also decorated with many different #ribbon #flowers with centers of #pearl and glittering #rhinestone, as well as satin bows.  Some of the ribbon flowers and ribbons were custom dyed to get the perfect dusty #magenta color.

The #overskirt and #bodice are made from the Spoonflower satin.  The bodice has 5 layers (fashion fabric, interlining, two layers of cotton with boning channels, and the fashion fabric inside).  The bodice is #boned both on the seams and in-between the panels. The front center of the bodice matches the skirt and has #ruffles of the similar gold laces, as well as ribbon flowers.  Gold lace adorns the neckline and the sleeve #engageantes.  I used a custom-dyed #chantilly lace for the magenta engageantes, and topped the sleeves with a pointed metallic #venice lace adorned with more ribbon flowers.  

The gown closes in the back with a #bridal #corset-style back for adjustability, and has a modesty panel built in!  The #necklace was also custom made and the shoe prop I am still working on. :)
