A woman who was arrested yesterday in Edinburgh for holding up a placard that said “fuck imperialism, abolish the monarchy,” has now been charged with a crime. If you got any joy at all out of seeing folk boo the proclamation of Charles Windsor yesterday, please make yourself aware of this, and please get in touch with your MSPs ASAP. This is heinous.

Deciding whether or not I can skip drafting just part of a chapter or if I have to skip the whole chapter because I don't know enough about the Scottish policing system and Google is sending me down an icky rabbit hole.

I know this is a long shot, but are there any Scottish/UK police officers out there?

What rank could be achieved by age 22?

How long does one train to be a detective?

What's that process like?

Is it feasible to randomly take a 15-year hiatus from policing in the UK?

Would they have to do any re-training after such a hiatus?

If they were in the middle of detective training, would they have to start from scratch?
