if i'm remembering right, different Ghost shells are actually made and sold in the lore. Probably not all the eververse store ones, but maybe.

So the idea that radically varying shells could be canon is rly good when it comes to The Final Shape pre-order shell

like someone looked at an eldritch entity trap and mutilate what has essentially been humanity's god for a millennia and thought. "Huh. Y'know what? That'd make a cool shell for a ghost"

It's really funny. And yeah, obviously we don't know how many shells in the store are canon, maybe even all of them? But a lot of them are for sure so until any are disproven, you can pretty much say that any of them are just something that Guardians make for their Ghosts.

Which makes this one hilarious:

I don't know what's funnier; that a Ghost suggested this to mock the Almighty and just told their Guardian to tape rulers to it, or that some Guardian was like "I have the funniest idea ever, trust me," and went after their Ghost with a tape.

And yeah, the new TFS shell is also really funny. Some Ghost or Guardian with morbid sense of humour.

I also really like how we know for Glint that his shell was a gift made for him when he was in the Reef:

"That shell's pretty snappy. Is it new?" It's Reef-purple, with a flowerlike silhouette and silver detailing. "Yes! It is. It was a gift."

And also we do know that some Guardians just make the shells on their own, from Marcus Ren and Didi:

"Of course you need a racing shell. I'm going to make you the flashiest shell you've ever seen."

So yeah. Someone out there probably thought that the Traveler encircled with Pyramid ships would be a sick looking shell (and they're right!).

i was talking with one of the irl broskis and i realized that shoulderpads check off a lot of boxes for an 80s cis-passing trans guy.

for starters, it makes u look broader in the shoulders. you can see how that would be useful given how bio guys tend to have wider shoulders than trans guys.

plus if they're big enough, it COULD help hide the badonkadonks. the honkers. the bazongas. especially since binders likely aren't very good for the bendy supervillain lifestyle (lots of dance battles).

and shoulder pads are one of those miraculous style pieces that ride the line between stealth and passing, ESPECIALLY in the 80s!! a pretty popular style with women was oversized suit jackets with shoulder pads. combine that with the points above and you have a piece that reads as cis passing to those who know and trendy girl to those who don't.

on top of the shoulder pads, his whole villain origin story is puberty. that's basically every trans person's villain origin story.

and as for queer coded, well....

also explanation for the va-ser: i figure most ppl didn't know peppermint is roxanne's kid until after everything, so they thought that there was a similar situation with chai where it just wasn't public knowledge

"Hey, it turned out fine! I dunno why you're making such a big deal about this...again."

"Because you, for some reason, thought it'd be a good idea to shoot yourself out of a canon! It was dangerous and incredibly stupid! You're lucky you didn't get blown up or something!"

"You were the one who suggested it!" "I already told you that that was sarcastic!" "Still said it." "Chai..."

Roxanne chuckles, shaking her head as she watches the two bicker.

The past few weeks have been like this. The three of them, alongside their other friends if they aren't busy, going around campus inspecting damages and helping to repair things. As they go, Chai will make some comment about whatever caused said damages in the first place—usually him. Which leads into the bickering.

In some ways, it reminds her of how Peppermint and Kale used to be. But...far more good-natured. There's no tension thick enough to cut with a knife.

She sighs. One of the VA-SERs helping them looks over at her.

"Er...are you alright, Ms. Vandelay?" they ask.

"Hm?" Roxanne looks over at them, eyes wide. Then, she smiles. "Oh, I'm quite alright, thank you. Just...lost in thought."

"Oh. Okay."

They both turn their attention to Chai and Peppermint. She has him in a headlock and is giving him a noogie.

Through laughter, he says, "Stop!" "Not until you admit that I'm right!" "No way! It was a totally genius plan and you know it!" "No it wasn't!" "I thought all of your plans were the best, though!" "I swear—"

"Is he your kid, too?" the VA-SER asks.

Chuckling as she watches Chai turn the tables on Peppermint, putting her in a headlock and mussing up her hair as she squeals, Roxanne responds without thinking.

"Yes."

For a moment, she stands there in shock upon realizing what she said. But it melts away into contentment.

"Yes," she repeats, then adds, "that's my son."

so rewatching kinnporsche episode 8 yesterday I realized that the specific timing of tawan's reappearance almost immediately follows kinn's punching vegas in the face and chasing him out of his own bathroom before fucking porsche in it. and knowing that tawan is working with vegas has me looking at that and going "oh this isn't just 'how this timing worked out for the Fucking Plan,' this is specific retaliation"
