All of Grayson's entrances in TIG, THL & TFG are so memorable to me - like:
1. In TIG, he was the first Hawthorne Avery met AND he got her principal to vacate his OWN office so that he could talk to Avery & Libby alone
2. In THL, he appeared after Avery hadn't seen him for a whole week but the first thing he said was "Why wouldn't she be fine?" to Alisa while exiting an elevator with his GRAYSON HAWTHORNE AURA (there is no other way to explain the energy that he exudes)
3. In TFG, he flew back from Harvard for Avery's birthday and I vividly remember him saying "Ferris Wheel Leapfrog Death Match. This never ends well."
Like this man has such a powerful aura, I'm starting to believe that he can burn his enemies with that stare of his 😭

Maserati 250F 2.5
Grand Prix racing wins
1954 Buenos Aires (Fangio)
1954 Spa (Fangio)
1956 Monaco (Moss)
1956 Monza (Moss)
1957 Buenos Aires (Fangio)
1957 Monaco (Fangio)
1957 Rouen (Fangio)
1957 Nurburgring (Fangio)
Forever associated with five-time Formula 1 World Champion, Juan Manuel Fangio, the Maserati 250F is the quintessential front-engined Grand Prix car. Designed principally by Gioacchino Colombo and Valerio Colotti, and introduced for the 1954 season, the 250F was constructed around a tubular ladder-frame chassis, with independent front suspension and a De Dion rear axle, and was powered by a 2½-litre double-overhead-camshaft straight-six engine.
Fangio secured two Grand Prix victories with the 250F before leaving for Mercedes-Benz, ending the '54 season as Formula 1 World Champion for the second time. Having secured a further two F1 World Championships, Fangio was back behind the wheel of a 250F, by this time further developed by Giulio Alfieri, for the 1957 season. Fangio drove to four more World Championship victories that year, including his legendary win at the Nürburgring where he overcame a 48-second deficit following a botched pit stop, passing race leader Mike Hawthorn on the penultimate lap. In doing so he broke the lap record ten times. Fangio's final win, this performance at the wheel of a Maserati 250F is often regarded as the greatest drive in Formula 1 history.
The late Sir Stirling Moss, who achieved his first Formula 1 victory at the wheel of a 250F when he won the non-Championship Oulton Park International Gold Cup in 1954, described the Maserati as "the most beautiful Formula 1 car in the world", an assessment few would disagree with.

Love Leaves Scars: The Wild West
[L.L.S Masterlist] | [Main Masterlist] | [G.H Masterlist]
Warning: None
Pairing: Oc!Reader × Grayson Hawthorne
W.C: 1.2k
Tumblr media
It has been a few weeks since Tobias visited my home, and he hasn't returned since. I'm relieved that he hasn't. That evening, I found it difficult to hold back my tears. What made it worse was discovering the letter he left behind. Like the previous one, I tore it into pieces and discarded it. I refuse to read it and be manipulated by him once again.
Right now, I'm sitting in class, pretending to listen to whatever the teacher is talking about. Images of finding Tobias Hawthorne in my living room keep flashing in my mind, making it challenging to focus on anything. I glance at the clock nailed to the wall above the whiteboard. Thirty minutes until 1 o'clock. Just thirty more minutes until lunch.
"Attention, Ms. Rosewood. Please come to the Principal's office," a woman's voice announces over the speaker.
All the students' attention, as well as the teacher's, shifts toward me. I notice the teacher stops talking and puts down his marker. "Miss Rosewood," he calls out, grabbing my attention. I start to hear everyone else whispering to each other. I close my notebook, grab my backpack, and walk out of the door.
Being called to the principal's office is a rare occurrence for me. I try to maintain a low profile and stay out of trouble as much as possible. Having the last name Rosewood already attracts enough attention—I don't need any more of it.
The hallways are mostly empty, except for some students transitioning between classes. Most stare, while others pay no mind to me. The principal's office is located at the end of the hall. Before I know it, I'm standing in front of the door. I feel the cold doorknob in my hand, take a deep breath, exhale, and twist the knob, opening the door.
As I step into the room, a blast of cold air from the air conditioner hits me. The walls are entirely white, devoid of any other color. It resembles a doctor's office to me. Cushioned chairs are arranged along the side, and two chairs are placed in front of the principal's desk. However, the principal is absent. In the meantime, I decide to make myself comfortable.
I let my eyes wander around the room. There's a picture of the principal's family sitting on his desk. His gold-plated name shines on the desk, indicating his meticulous cleaning habits. A bookshelf occupies the left corner of his office, filled with books mostly from 19th-century authors and biographies of unfamiliar people. I spend a few minutes in the silence, patiently waiting for the principal.
Then, I hear the lock on the door click open. I stand up and turn, ready to greet the principal in our school's traditional way. "Good after—" I stop mid-sentence. My eyes widen, and my body freezes as I stare at the person standing before me. I can't move or even breathe. It's as if some kind of magic has immobilized me. All I can do is stare in shock. And the reason? Standing next to Mr. Harlow is none other than Nash Westbrook Hawthorne, the eldest grandson of Tobias Hawthorne, wearing his stupid cowboy hat.
"Miss Rosewood, will you just stare at me and my visitor all day long?" Mr. Harlow says, snapping me out of my trance. I shake my head and continue what I was about to say. "Good afternoon, Mr. Harlow and visitor," I say, leaning forward to give them a bow. Bowing while greeting is one of the traditions at Red Crest International College. "Good afternoon to you too, Miss Rosewood," Mr. Harlow replies before gesturing for Nash and me to sit down. He walks behind his desk, takes a seat, folds his hands, and leans slightly forward.
"I've been wanting to speak to Verity alone, Principal Harlow," Nash says in his thick Texas accent. Mr. Harlow appears somewhat surprised, but he quickly covers it up with a cough. It seems being kicked out of his office does not excite him. "Very well, Mr. Hawthorne. You may see me when you are finished," he says, then slowly exits the room. I continue staring forward, not acknowledging Mr. Harlow or Nash. We both hear the doorknob click, indicating Mr. Harlow has left the office.
Nash waits for about 30 seconds before speaking up. "How are—" he begins, but I quickly cut him off. "What are you doing here?" I ask, my tone harsh, and I notice him flinch from my peripheral vision. I still refuse to look directly at him. He remains silent, likely expecting another verbal blow. "If you're going to ask me to come home, I won't do it. So save your breath and leave," I tell him. "I can't do that," he replies. "There's nothing a Hawthorne can't do."For the first time since we sat down, I turned to Nash. His soft brown eyes were already fixed on me, pleading for my attention. "The old man's dead, Verity," he revealed.
I was taken aback. No remorse or sadness washed over me. Perhaps deep down, they lingered, but I refused to acknowledge them. Tobias Hawthorne didn't deserve my tears not my pity. "My condolences, Nash. To your family as well. If that's all you've come to say, then you've said it. Now, please, leave me be." I stood up abruptly, snatching my bag. I was ready to walk out, but Nash seized my wrist.
"You need to come home," he insisted once more, his grip firm.
"I will never return there," I snapped, wrenching my wrist free and striding toward the door. Just as I reached for the doorknob, Nash's voice pierced the air again. "Your name is written on the will. We can't decipher it unless everyone's present," he revealed.
His words ignited a fire within me. All the anger and hatred I had suppressed since laying eyes on him now erupted. "You want me to come home for your ludicrous will reading? So you can inherit billions from that madman?" I shouted, my bag crashing to the floor as I confronted Nash head-on. "You are as selfish and arrogant as your grandfather," I sneered, my finger jabbing at his chest.
Our faces were mere inches apart, and through his eyes, I saw my reflection—a visage filled with anger. The anger wasn't reflected in his eyes, but in my own. I resembled my mother. The woman I swore not to become. Yet here I am.
I stepped back, maintaining the distance between us. Nash continued to gaze at me, his eyes still soft, filled with concern and worry. He reached out to hold my hand, but I recoiled, refusing to let his touch affect me. "I have no interest in the money," he assured me, his voice gentle. He wanted me to believe that the inheritance or any wealth he might acquire wasn't the reason behind his plea. "You'll only be there for the will reading, and once it's done, you can go home. I promise to shield you from any further disruptions," he vowed. I looked up at him, searching for sincerity.
"Besides, you're not the only non-Hawthorne —except for the Laughlins and Oren—named in the will," Nash revealed, and my curiosity was piqued. Why would Tobias Hawthorne name an outsider in his will? "Who else?" I inquired.
"A girl named Avery Kylie Grambs."

Avery “honorably-hawthorne” Grambs could easily be an actual Hawthorne, if she already isnt.
She has the sense of protection over her family, not only Libby, but we do see over and over the series how Avery would do anything for her, but also over the brothers. The biggest example of this is in tfg, how Avery is just making sure everyone is ok. She constantly calls Grayson and when hes at the house shes always making sure hes alright (even when he doesnt want to), she talks a lot with Nash in moments where BOTH of them are vulnerable (this doesnt seem like much but coming from a place where he had to praticly raise his siblings, not being the mother of the situation can be extremely relaxing), she makes jameson faces his feelings instead of running away, in his time, and helps him to do so, and she creates a safe space for xander, one where he doesnt have to be the happiness bubble his always is and talks abt what is rl happening (or dont id ge doesnt want to).
She has the hawthorne mind, of course. I think the biggest example we have of that is that scene at the start of tig when avery is at the principals office and shes just offended that the principle dont think she could ace a test no one has in 20 years. Note that avery wasnt a top student, she had good grades but she dint normally aced test or smt like that, she only cared abt that one bc they told her she couldn’t do it. she also demanded that she would do the text now and there.
Also, she literally grew up playing games. she literally had a weekly game that involved secrets. she would make games on rainy days. There is a reason why she gets the hawthorne games and lifestyle so quickly, its bc she also grew up with games all of the time.
People, and even the people in the series, talk abt the Hawthornes brothers as if they were gods and just so smart as if avery wasnt the same as them. And she even dint have to be traumatized with impossible expectations and hours long lessons that would end up with the brothers being humiliated to do so (looking at you, tobias)

Larissa Weems opened her eyes and closed them again just as quickly, blinded by the white light she saw above her. Was this heaven? She couldn't quite remember what had happened. Marilyn, a syringe, she had fallen… She had seen Wednesday above her, shaking her, and then she had seen nothing, only heard. Sounds of a struggle… Someone talking… Nothing.
A black hole.
So she was dead, eh?
A stupid death.
Her first thoughts went to her school, and to all the children and teachers who would now have to manage without her. All because of her carelessness…
She opened her eyes again slowly, letting the light reach her eyes through a small slit between her eyelids, which she opened more and more. When she got used to it, she saw white walls, a white ceiling, a white floor, and medical equipment. So she wasn't dead. She was in the hospital. She had survived. The door opened wide and several people, probably nurses and doctors, entered, probably one of the machines could detect whether she was awake or not, and it was relayed to another room.
"Mrs. Weems, welcome back," said a woman, smiling.
Still a little dazed, she said nothing.
"We've got some tests to do now that you're awake. Don't worry, nothing too serious. Do you remember what happened?"
"One of the teachers at the academy attacked me and stuck a needle in my neck."
"It was belladonna, you were very lucky to get away with it. Do you have any other memories afterwards?"
"A student leaning over me, some noises, and then nothing."
"That's normal. I'll take some blood and we'll get you some food."
Larissa nodded. The different nurses took her arm to draw some blood. The principal felt her head spin and closed her eyes.
"How long have I been here?"
"Oh, four days. You can thank the student who saved you."
"A student saved me?"
"Yes, he had the reflex to inject you with physostigmine before calling for help. Normally we don't recommend this kind of thing if you are not a doctor but it saved your life. The blood test is done, we'll bring you something to eat right away. Any special diet? No meat? No salt?"
"No, I can eat everything."
"Good."
The little team left the room, leaving her alone in her silence. Larissa let her eyes roam the room, curious. Several bouquets were there. A huge bunch of various peonies, hawthorns, and then a small bunch of marigolds and shrubby everlasting. There were also a lot of letters, which she reached for. She had tears in her eyes when she realised that they were words from the students. She who had no family left, who thought that no one cared about her anymore, felt loved. She felt like reading everything, and started with a note written on light blue paper covered with multicoloured wolf stickers, written in glittery pink ink.
"Get well soon, Mrs. Weems! By the way, you haven't seen me I've finally wolfed out" Followed by small hand-drawn smileys "Enid."
She put the little card down and picked up another. Dark grey paper, black ink.
"The next time I involve you, I'll take Calabar beans with me, to counteract the poison. But in my book, you won't live again. I think it makes a better ending. And a character's death is a good development for the protagonist. Wednesday."
Larissa wiped away a tear with a small laugh.
"You're silly…"
They entered her room, a tray of food in hand. The principal put Wednesday's card down and looked at what had been brought in. Nothing very tasty. Rice, some sort of fishy-smelling pâté, salad and compote. Well, that's that. She would have to make do with hospital food. She ate slowly, a grimace hanging on her lips. The rice was undercooked, and the fish was overcooked. Even the salad tasted bad. In the end, the only thing right was the compote.
As she had not been given any instructions against it, she stood up. She wanted to have a closer look at the bouquets. The hawthorns had a note signed by all her colleagues and Sheriff Galpin. The peony one was a personal note from Thalia Kedlan. As for the last one, the little one of marigolds and immortals, there was nothing. No words at all. She looked at him, intrigued by this gift without a sender. Who could give her immortals and marigolds? The marigolds, she understood. They were recovery flowers. But the immortals…
Their meaning was much more vague, it could mean so many things. Nevertheless, she imagined that it had to do with the fact that she was not dead. A bouquet without a name was still troubling. Maybe it was Wednesday. But she wouldn't have given him yellow flowers. Maybe Morticia, then. No, it probably wouldn't have been that kind of flower either. Her thoughts travelled back in time.
"Rissa? Is it really Gomez you like?"
"Of course it is. Who else?"
"I don't know. I just… I thought you preferred girls…"
"Ugh, what do you take me for? It's disgusting!"
Poor Ava… Larissa thought she had been stupid on this one… She should have dealt with her feelings. That was probably the biggest regret of her years as a student at Nevermore: not being able to understand that loving women was normal. She hoped Avareida was okay. She'd obviously bought her book as soon as she'd seen her name on the cover, but had never tried to contact her again. Out of shame, no doubt, and then to say what? It had been thirty years… It would have been weird to come and say "Hi Ava, I'm not sure if you remember me. I'm sorry for being a horrible homophobe and telling you all that. I'm actually a lesbian too, haha".
She sighed. Why was she thinking about her now?
Probably because she was the only person who had ever truly loved her without an ulterior motive and without betraying her. No, Larissa had betrayed her first. She began to dream that she was the bouquet.
Ava…
The memory of her friend made her smile. She wasn't tall, Ava was 8 inches shorter than her, at the time. And then she had this joy for life. She didn't care what others thought of her, Ava just did what she liked. Larissa never had that strength. Even now, everything she did was to maintain a good image for herself and the academy. Avareïda had undoubtedly become an incredible young woman…
The next day, several of her colleagues came to see her, with a bunch of daisies and a huge cake. She felt a bit ridiculous, bedridden and in a white shirt, while everyone else was well dressed. Elizabeth Kinswelt, the divination teacher, groped for the chair they had brought her, helped by Thalia Kedlan, the history teacher. There was also Jean Lafon, the French teacher, and Amil Donove, the telekinesis teacher.
Thalia took her in her arms and gave her a warm hug.
"Welcome back!"
"Welcome back! Amil and Jean rejoined at the same time."
Larissa returned his embrace.
"Are you crying, Larissa?"
"No, Jean, it's the dust."
Thalia stepped back a little, watching her principal wipe away tears.
"I wanted to tell you, Larissa," Thalia began, "we're really glad to see you alive. The Academy wouldn't be the same without you. And you are a dear friend to our hearts."
"Stop it or I'll really cry."
"Aha, okay."
Amil put the bouquet next to the others.
"By the way, do you know who gave me these marigolds and everlastings? There's no word to go with it."
Thalia smiled at Larissa.
"A friend of mine who has just moved to the area. We met the day before yesterday morning, and as I had to come and see you, they came with me. They bought you this because they felt bad about coming without anything."
"Oh… will you thank them for me?"
"Of course I will."
"I heard that many students came to see you?" Amil asked
"Yes, I received dozens of notes. I didn't know they liked me so much."
Elizabeth, who had been silent until then, spoke up. Larissa liked her voice, always very calm. Her completely white eyes, her hair pulled back in a tight bun, gave her a gentle, wise look that the principal had always liked.
"Larissa, expect many people to tell you how much they love you."
"Is that a prophecy, Mrs Kinswelt?"
"No, Mrs Weems. I know this phenomenon. I almost died myself a long time ago."
"But it sounded like a prophecy."
"Come on, you know I don't share my prophecies. Especially not to the people most affected."
"Does that mean that you have seen things?"
"Interpret it as you wish…"
Thalia opened the box in which there was a red cake with some raspberries on top.
"It was Jean who baked this for you!"
"All this for me? Isn't it better to share it?"
"That was the idea," Jean smiled.
The car was driving along the main road. A storm was brewing and the first drops were falling on the roof.
"Elizabeth?"
Elizabeth lifted her head from the glass. If she wasn't completely blind, you'd think she was absorbed in the scenery that was passing before her eyes on the way to her girlfriend's house.
"Yes, Dear?"
"Did you see anything about Mrs Weems?"
"Yes, I did."
There was silence in the car for a few moments.
"Do you want to tell me about it?"
"I saw your friend. And Mrs Weems."
"Tell me more."
"You know I don't want to turn my visions into self-fulfilling prophecies."
"Come on, I won't tell them. Will you please tell me?"
"What are you offering me in exchange for this information?"
Thalia smiled, without taking her eyes off the road.
"There's not much I can do right now, but as soon as we get to my place, I'm yours."
"I saw them kissing."
"Whaaat?"
"It can mean nothing, too. It was just a kiss. Promise me you won't say anything to them or try to push them together."
"It's going to be hard, but I promise."
"Thank you, Thalia. Let them live their lives, so you won't be disappointed with the outcome."
Elizabeth rested her head against the glass. And then she saw light. A new vision was coming.
She was in the greenhouse of Nevermore. She knew it, though she had never seen it. It smelled the same as when she had gone there. On the floor was Mrs. Weems, lying there, staring into space. Elizabeth ran towards her as the door opened. She saw someone enter. Black hair slicked back, as if it were wet. All black eyes, dressed in brown. She knew it was Rei. They stopped above Mrs Weems and crouched down. Mrs Kinswelt saw the intruder check her breathing and heart before taking something from their jacket and injecting it into Larissa's neck. Then they got up and quietly went to the back of the greenhouse to steal the manchineel tree.
Then everything disappeared.
"Thalia?"
"Yes?"
"Your friend, when did they arrive again?"
"I don't know exactly. They told me it was four days ago at night. Actually, a little after the events at Nevermore. What was that for?"
"No reason."
She knew what she saw. They were the one who saved Mrs Weems. So why hide it? Because of the manchineel thing?

Sir Andrew Davis
One of Britain’s greatest conductors widely admired for leading the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Proms
One of the most beloved and highly esteemed conductors of his generation, Sir Andrew Davis, who has died aged 80 of leukaemia, was a familiar presence on the podium, not least through his countless appearances at the BBC Proms in his capacity as chief conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra (1989-2000).
After Adrian Boult, his was the second longest tenure of the post in the history of the orchestra. During the same period he was also music director of Glyndebourne Opera (1988–2000), conducting works by Mozart, Janáček and Richard Strauss, among many others.
The sheer range of his repertoire was in fact one of the defining features of Davis’s career. Not only was he acclaimed as an empathetic interpreter of British music from Elgar and Vaughan Williams to Holst and Bliss, but he also had the ability to assimilate contemporary scores such as Michael Tippett’s The Mask of Time, Harrison Birtwistle’s The Mask of Orpheus, Nicholas Sackman’s Hawthorn or David Sawer’s Byrnan Wood, all of which were either introduced at the Proms or recorded. The Birtwistle was named record of the year at the Gramophone awards in 1987.
But as he showed season after season in the BBC post, Davis could bring both vitality and a discerning sense of idiom to almost any music. One recalls, almost at random, a 2015 concert featuring a sensuous account of Delius’s In a Summer Garden, followed by a lithe and muscular suite from Ravel’s erotic Daphnis et Chloé, the ecstatic choral shouts and shuddering climaxes leaving little to the imagination. The concert also included music by Carl Nielsen and a new work, Epithalamion, by Hugh Wood.
One of many highlights of his Proms appearances was his commanding premiere in 1998 of Elgar’s Third Symphony in the “elaboration” by Anthony Payne (effectively a performing version made from the composer’s sketches).
Another was his speech from the podium in 1992, delivered as a patter song to the tune of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “I am the very model of a modern major-general”, complete with witty rhymes and repartee with the delighted audience. The trick was repeated on the final night of the 2000 festival, his last as the orchestra’s chief conductor. On his arrival at the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the more truculent members of the ensemble had to be won over, but they were, by his genial humour and charm, as well as his purely musical talents.
He was also popular with soloists, not necessarily offering a radically new perspective of his own, but listening carefully to them to provide an ideal accompaniment. The pianist Stephen Hough said he had “the sharpest ear and the clearest stick”. Both on and off the podium Davis exuded bonhomie and affability. His concern as a conductor was always to create the conditions that enabled musicians to give of their best.
Born in Ashridge, Hertfordshire, he was the son of Robert Davis, a compositor, and his wife, Joyce (nee Badminton). Andrew began to learn the piano at the age of five and attended Watford grammar school. In 1959 he started organ studies with Peter Hurford and subsequently won an organ scholarship to King’s College, Cambridge, where he played under David Willcocks. He then studied conducting at the Accademia di S Cecilia, Rome, under Franco Ferrara, and in London with George Hurst. From 1966 to 1970 he was pianist, harpsichordist and organist with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
In 1970 he made his debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and in the same year was appointed assistant conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He then became principal guest conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (1974–77) and music director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (1975–88), whose stature he boosted with major tours of North America, Europe and Asia. In 1982, he helped establish the orchestra’s new home at Roy Thomson Hall, and advised on the construction of its organ.
Then came the posts at the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Glyndebourne. His debut at the latter had been in Strauss’s Capriccio (1973) and he was to become a noted exponent of the composer’s operas.
In 1989 he married the soprano Gianna Rolandi, whom he had met when she sang Zerbinetta under his baton first at the Metropolitan, New York, in 1984 and again at Glyndebourne in 1988.
On his retirement from the BBC in 2000 he moved to the US with Rolandi and their son, Edward, to take up the appointment of music director, until 2021, of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, where he conducted nearly 700 opera performances including Wagner’s Ring cycle (2004–05). A second cycle was planned for the 2019–20 season, but was never completed on account of the Covid pandemic. He additionally conducted orchestral concerts at the Lyric and free concerts at Millennium Park.
From 2012 to 2019, he also held the post of chief conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, becoming conductor laureate, while continuing to live in the US.
In addition to his conducting, he made an orchestration of Handel’s Messiah, performing it with the Toronto orchestra, and of Berg’s Piano Sonata, op 1, and Passacaglia (Berg was a composer who inspired him, he once said, throughout his life). His own compositions included La Serenissima: Inventions on a Theme by Claudio Monteverdi (1980), Chansons Innocentes for children’s chorus and orchestra (1984) and Alice (2003) – settings of Lewis Carroll for mezzo-soprano, tenor and children’s chorus. At his death he was working on orchestrating some of JS Bach’s organ music.
During the pandemic lockdown he drew on his knowledge of the classics, gained as a student, to undertake an original translation of Virgil’s Aeneid. Though modest about his poetic abilities, he did comment that the experience was comparable to that of making music: “The manipulation of sonorities and rhythms and the search for ways of bringing to life the vividness of Virgil’s imagery and at times his great emotional power struck me as remarkably similar to the search that I have been engaged in all my life on the podium.”
His numerous recordings reflect the vast range of his repertoire, British and contemporary music looming large alongside Stravinsky, Strauss, Berlioz, Ives, Sibelius, Weill and the complete Dvořák symphonies. A 16-CD retrospective collection celebrating British composers on Teldec’s The British Line series was released by Warner Classics.
In 1991, he received the Royal Philharmonic Society/Charles Heidsieck music award. He was appointed CBE in 1992 and knighted in 1999.
Rolandi died in 2021. Davis is survived by Edward, a composer, singer and conductor.
🔔 Andrew Frank Davis, conductor, born 2 February 1944; died 20 April 2024

Reasons I think Coach Vlad in Wednesday is Count Dracula
Okay, maybe I’m a little hyperfixated right now because I’m still relatively fresh from watching The Invitation where Walter Deville was very blatantly Count Dracula in disguise.  But I’m convinced Coach Vlad on Wednesday (Netflix series) is actually Count Dracula.  Here are the clues... 1..  His name is Vlad, credited as Coach Vlad.  See how close that is to “Count Vlad” as in “Count Vlad Dracula.”  Coach is even the same amount of letters as Count besides both starting with C and O.   There’s also the gag in Rick and Morty of Coach Feratu (Nosferatu) poking fun of how bad vampire aliases are.  Dracula and Carmilla are infamous for having terrible aliases in movies.
Dracula has been Alucard (Dracula backward), Drake (meaning little dragon.  Dracula means Little Dragon or Son of the Dragon).  Deville (a play on ”Devil” as Dracula can also mean “Son of The Devil.”)  The only time I felt Dracula had a clever alias was in Fred Saberhagen’s Dracula novels where he eventually takes on the alias Matthew Maule, a name he stole from the novel House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne.  He liked it because the character’s last words are “God will give you blood to drink!” Carmilla usually just scrambles her name.  Marcilla, Mircalla, Millarca, and in The House that dripped Blood Carla (removing some letters instead of re-arranging them). Vampires are lazy with aliases...   2.  The character and actor is Romanian.  Not only that but he plays the character with his natural Romanian accent.  In most American-made shows Romanians tend to try to adopt an American accent.  See Sebastian Stan in the TV series Once Upon a Time and later the films of the MCU.
3.  Coach Vlad was perfecting fine with letting two students duel until first blood drawn.  Blood...
4.  Vampires are definitely real in this continuity. In fact the school is about 1/4 vampires with Vampires being one of the biggest species cliques in the school along with Werewolves, Gorgons and sirens.  Though there are also varying psychic abilities like seers and telekinetics, and the principal was a shapeshifter.  If you have a fiction with vampires and there’s a Romanian man named Vlad, he’s usually Dracula if not a Dracula knock-off.   5.   Characters of folklore or characters of the nebulous and murky “was once a real person and is now more heavily associated with a fantasy figure” have appeared in Addams Family canon. Dracula, in the fiction, was Vlad the Impaler (historic figure) when he was alive and he became the famous vampire after his death.  Saint Nicholas, who was a real person, became the fantastical Santa Claus, who, according to L. Frank. Baum (author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz) was granted immortality.  Why do I bring up Santa Claus?  Because in the 1960s Addams Family TV series Santa Claus is real.  In a universe where Santa Claus exists, chances are Dracula is also real.  Both were once real people who upon their death became famous immortals (but in very different ways).   Note: There is a comic book Santa vs. Dracula.
6.  Hyde monsters are real, suggesting that the original Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were also real and likely was the first Hyde monster.  If this is a world where Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were real, that increases the odds that the Romanian man named Vlad might be Count Dracula, himself. 7.  We see the vampire students (the ones in sunglasses) walking about by day.  That means they follow “Dracula rules.”  In the novels Carmilla and Dracula vampires could walk around in daylight. They were just weaker by day and it’s their natural time of rest.  They won’t burn in the sun. Vampires didn’t actually burn in the sun until the silent film Nosferatu where it was originally intended to be symbolic as it was a German expressionist film.   Even the first Universal studios Dracula (1931) didn’t have Dracula burn in the sun, it’s just it was his time of rest.  It was only in the sequels that sun became a weakness.
 8.  Shapeshifters exist in this universe and Dracula was supposed to be a shapeshifter too in that he could turn into a wolf, bat, or mist at will (usually unable to transform during daylight hours). And he could change his apparent age dependent upon how much he had fed. (Average appearance being around age forty-five to forty-nine but could look much older).
9.  Edgar Allan Poe and his Raven, Hyde Monsters...  It seems Gothic literature and literary monsters are a theme here.  And each season may focus on another classic monster.  We already have had Hyde.
10.    This is more of an Easter Egg.  Tim Burton is a fan of Hammer Horror (old British monster movies made by the Hammer film studio).  In Sleepy Hollow Tim Burton uses “Kensington Gore” AKA Hammer Horror Blood.  It’s a bright red, edible, stage blood that is usually flavored to taste like mint. The recipe can be found on TV Tropes website.  Also up until Christopher Lee’s death, Tim Burton liked to work with Hammer Horror actor Christopher Lee, who played Dracula in film more times than any other actor. Christopher Lee appeared in Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, and Dark Shadows.  I bring this up because Tim couldn’t resist making reference to a Hammer Horror Dracula movie where Christopher Lee was Dracula.  When Crackstone is raised from the dead, the first thing he does is he holds out his hand so that his disciple might kiss his ring. This is a direct nod to the Hammer Horror film Dracula ‘72 AD as that is what Dracula does right after Johnny Alucard (Yes, Dracula spelt backward) raises him from the dead.
These are all reasons why I think Coach Vlad is actually Dracula.. Unless this is a redherring and Principle Weems is actually Dracula.  I only say that because I read a script for the pilot of a never completed show for ABC called Gothica (I think they filmed a pilot episode) that had a surprise twist at the end that a certain cunning woman character turned out be Dracula (able to shift gender besides animal form and mist) at will.
But it’s more likely Coach Vlad is Dracula.  Count Dracula is never that clever with his disguises.

The state of California if Japan and American culture blend together without World War II era animosity from fashion, pop culture, traditional culture, to religion, interior, architecture and gangster/yakuza
Tumblr media
Character Creation
Once the type of story direction is determined, players choose a role they want to play
Easiest if all players are on the same side and work the same hours
Defense, Prosecutor, and Investigator can interact outside of courtroom but there are areas that Defense Attorney can't access without invitation such as the Evidence Room so keep that in mind when arranging your party
Likewise the Investigators won't have a lot to do once you hit the Court Room unless there are some late minute investigation to be done
Even there you have to divide the players in at least two scenes at the same time
This is why choosing story direction and therefore the group of characters you want to focus is important

Tumblr media
Penalty
During court the everyone need to follow the law
Failure to do so will result in a penalty
Everyone except The Judge has a chance of receiving 5 penalties
Once all penalties are received The Judge won't hear your argument anymore and you are thrown out
The Court will then proceed without you present to its logical conclusion
In the case of lying Witnesses this also result in them getting thrown out as The Judge runs out of patience
Evidence Law
All evidence must be registered beforehand to the court
This happens during Court Preparation stage
Unregistered evidence will not be accepted
Characters can circumvent this situation by creating Extraordinary Situation that leads to adjournment so the late evidence can be registered and presented at a later date
2. All evidence presented must be related to the case
This one is not a hard and fast rule since The Judge is easily swayed and forget things while The Court members are eccentric
Invoke this rule for characters that are smart enough to take advantage of it either to close the trial or steer it towards their desired outcome
Extraordinary Situation
Events that create an impasse in court where no conclusion can be found leading to the trial adjournment such as
A new fact has been revealed requiring all sides to reinvestigate the case from a different angle in the field, not just the law enforcers being sent away while trial is still happening
Someone in charge testifies that they fake the evidences used in the trial leading to a riot among the crowd
There's a bomb in the courtroom
Keep in mind that deliberately creating Extraordinary Situation can lead to an investigation and arrest as it is essentially manipulating The Court
Tumblr media
Unconsciousness
Death never happens to main characters in Ace Attorney, only supporting cast, but investigating a criminal puts you in danger and even criminals can fall unconscious with stress once cornered
Both physical and mental health uses the same Health attribute
During combat each blows you receive from enemies depletes your Health score
During debate each losses you suffered adds 1 point to your Stress Level and each victory reduces it
Once it hits 0 you fell Unconscious
In the mean time the story will continue to its logical conclusion, resulting in a loss of case, evidence, trial, and so on
Stress
All Stress starts at 0
During debate each losses you suffer adds 1 point of Stress while each victory depletes it
Once stress exceeds your Spirit score you break down and unable to continue communicating
Roll 2d6 and subtract the result by 1 to determine how many minutes you need to recover
After which your stress level depletes by the same number appearing on your d6
Rolled a 1 and 1 = 2 substract by 1 = 1
You need 1 minute to recover and your stress level decreased by 1
Tumblr media
Possession
For each hour you are possessed by a spirit, deplete 1 score from the Spirit attribute
Once it reaches 0 the spirit can still possess you but once it leaves you fell unconscious
Recovery
Roll 1d6 to determine how many hours you fell Unconscious
Recovery hours can be accelerated by half if another character is present to administer first aid or send you to a hospital
In the mean time the story will continue to its logical conclusion, resulting in a loss of time, case, evidence, trial, and so on depending on the situation
Relationship
There is no level up since this is a story driven game but characters can increase or decrease relationship by appealing to characters likes, dislikes, ideology, morality, and so on
This affects their disposition, willingness to divulge information, and
Hostile
Hated
Disliked
Tolerated
Neutral
Amicable
Trusted
Admired
Respected
Revered
This affects their disposition and willingness to help which makes investigation and interviews easier or harder
It is up to you to judge when a character move up or down in relationship
I think that's it
Tell me if I miss anything

Decided i'm gonna write the story for Petra/Pandette
So, where do i begin...
WARNING: USE OF STRONG LANGUAGE AND VIOLENCE
Well, as far back as Petra can remember, she was lonely, yet always didn't feel alone. She remembers going to multiple orphanages until one day she was put in a catholic school at age 13. It was hard there, nuns were constantly getting onto her. She was always getting into bone breaking fights, but she wasn't a bad kid. She just came from a broken home. Petra hated the school’s uniforms, because the skirt was way too short for her. Boys were catcalling and wolf whistling to her. She didn't go to the office or tell anybody because the boys are annoying and might do something. Then a rumor went around the school saying that she had hooked up with one of the guys. She got called disgusting terms like “slut” or “whore”. She came to school one morning and on the lockers were spray painted, ‘PETRA ROBERTS IS A DIRTY WHORE!’ Petra was absolutely furious. She found the group of popular girls giggling in the hallway and she yelled at them, “Who in the actual f**k said I hooked up with one of the jocks!? And who spray painted the lockers with such a disgusting lie!?”Everyone stopped and stared at her.
The group of popular girls pointed to their group leader, a girl named Emma Hawthorne.
“N-No! It wasn't me!”
“You speak of bullsh*t, Emma!”
She raised her fist, when the counselor pulled her by her waist and into her office.
“Petra, you don’t want to be in detention for 2 weeks again,”
“I’m sick of this school, Ms. Penelope! Do you know how much sh*t I put up with everyday here!?”
Then the principal, Mr. Ziegler, barged in.
“I’m dragging Miss Hawthorne in here and getting onto her. She’s one of the main reasons why Petra gets into fights here,”
He stormed back out. He was right, but she doesn't like to play victim. About 30 seconds later, he came back in, with Emma by the hair. Petra’s eyes widened as he tossed her onto the floor. Petra backed into the front of Ms. Penelope’s desk.
“Emma Hawthorne. I am sick and I am tired of having to put Petra in detention because you keep getting her in trouble. I didn't get news until this morning that you were the reason why she’s in almost everyday detention, when it should've been you. Does your parents know that you're doing this? I’m calling your father, and I am getting you removed from this school,”
Mr. Ziegler and Ms. Penelope left to go find a telephone.
Streaks of thick black mascara drew their lines on Emma’s cheeks. Emma pulled back her lips.
“No wonder your mother didn't want you, because you are a sh*tty little whore!”
Petra held back tears.
“At least I have parents and wasn't left in probably a f**king garbage dumpster like you were!”
She still didn't say anything, that was until Emma pulled out a switchblade from her skirt pocket. She rammed her fist into Petra’s eye, causing it to immediately swell.
Then she kicked her hard in the torso multiple times. Petra gasped for air as Emma swiped her arms and legs.
“You don’t belong here, you miserable piece of sh*t! Look at you, curling up on the floor like the whiny little b*tch you are.”
Petra coughed up blood, as it splattered onto the wood tile.
Petra wasn’t dead yet. She choked out in a raspy voice, “Want to call me a slut, look at you! I heard you called the boys “Daddy,” when they f*cked you in the school bathrooms!”
She’s shocked for a moment, until her face scrunched back up. She raised the knife above her head.
“Emma Lane Hawthorne!”
Her eyes widened as she froze. She looked at her father, who stood in the doorway of the counselor’s office.
“You are in so much trouble, young lady!”
He walked in and grabbed her by the arm.
“You are never going to see your friends ever again!”
She heard Emma scream.
Petra was put on a stretcher. As they carried her through the hallways, she heard the other students gasp. She looked at them as her vision blurred in and out of focus.
“Oh my god,”
“Did Emma do that?”
“Sacrebleu, look at her eye, it’s swollen!”
They made it out the church doors and down the long set of stairs. She was packed into an ambulance. She began to fade out of consciousness.
“Hold on honey, just hold on,”
Fast forward 4 years. She’s scanning items at a Bass Pro Shops for a man and his son. The man places a hunting knife on the conveyor belt. Petra gasps and bumps into the shelf behind her. The man looks at her.
“Miss, are you ok? Miss?”
People notice her fainting and rush to help her.
She wakes up with one of the staff kneeling down in front of her.
“Petra, are you ok?”
She groans, her vision focusing. Then she turns and scoots back.
“The knife, he was gonna stab me,”
“Petra, what are you talking about?”
She curls up in the corner of the shelf and begins to sob.
“He was gonna stab me,”
The guy puts his hands up.
“I have nothing on me,”
“Sir, everything is alright, she just has a phobia of knives. I’ll finish checking you out,”
The guy scans the item that Petra had dropped.
“He was gonna slash my arms open,”
“Petra, calm down, he wasn't going to stab you,”
“He was gonna stab me,” she repeats through sobs.
“Ms. Roberts?”
She looks up. Her boss is kneeling down in front of her.
“You can leave early. You just had a panic attack, you’ll be alright,”
She breathes in and out and fades out of her trance.
“T-Thank you,”
He smiles.
“Take your time to settle down,”
She takes her keys out of her pocket and walks out of the store to her car.
Petra unlocks the door to her apartment. She sits on the couch, grabbing her guitar, softly strumming the strings. It helps her calm her emotions, have peace of mind. The doorbell rings. She puts down her guitar and opens the door. Her landlord is there, with a woman she’s never seen before. She’s very, very pretty. A large brown suitcase is what she’s holding. She’s a little bit shorter than Petra is, maybe about 4 inches shorter. She has short black hair, clear, large framed glasses, glossy lips, a little bit darker skin tone than Petra has, and oh, her eyes. They’re like Larimars.
“Ms. Roberts, this is your new roommate,”
She smiles.
“Hi! I’m Dolly Anderson! So, can I come in?”
She stops staring.
“Oh, I’m sorry, yes, you can come in,”
The landlord leaves as Petra shuts the door.
“Wow, you keep really tidy in here,”
“You’re lucky you didn't move in with the guy down the hall in A13. His apartment is full of trash. I’m like one of the only women here. There’s an elderly black woman that lives in A11. She’s nice,”
Dolly giggles.
“So, how old are you? And what’s your first name?”
“Petra, and I’m 17,”
“I’m also 17,”
They stare at each other for a moment.
Petra clears her throat.
“Oh, uh, let me show you your room,”
She guides her to her room.
“Oh! The sheets are made up! Did you make them up?”
“Oh no. It’s always been like that ever since I moved here. Which was about a year ago?”
Dolly sets down her suitcase and smells the covers.
“They smell clean. I’ll unpack my things and you can wait on the couch. I want to learn more about you!”
After what seemed like forever, Dolly finally comes back into the living room. Petra moves her guitar so she can sit down.
“Do you want anything to drink?”
“What do you have?”
“Sprite, water, Coke,”
“Sprite,”
Petra gets up and goes to the fridge. She takes a sprite out of the carton and shuts the fridge door.
“Where did you move in from?”
“I moved in from Cairo,”
“Egypt, huh?”
“Yes. I came over here to look for a new job. But I had to move,”
“So, who do you miss the most?”
“My parents. I miss my cousin though. She’s not really my cousin, we just grew up together,”
She looks down beside her as she cracks the can of sprite.
“You play guitar?”
“Oh, I don’t really. I just usually play a few songs and that’s it,”
Dolly takes a sip of the soda.
“Oh really?”
“What are your hobbies?”
“I paint and play guitar mostly,”
“I like to crochet and play board games. Especially Mancala,”
“What’s that?”
“Oh, it’s really easy and simple to play. It’s considered to be the world’s oldest board game,”
“That’s actually cool. Is Dolly your nickname, or?”
“Dolores is my actual name. It doesn't sound Arabic, I know, but that’s because my dad is American. He named me that, and my mother, who is Arabic, also liked it,”
well, that's all for now :P

I talked about Grayson's entrances already but I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE OTHER BROTHERS' ENTRANCES IN TIG.
All their entrances represent them in a nutshell.
Like, Grayson's showed his authority (kicking out a school principal from his own office, his dialogue with Ave, everything)
BUT THEN Xander's first appearance was literally him coming out of a coat closet, looking unruly and dusting his pants 😭 (which shows his randomness and idk I felt like there was some humour in that like... Avery and Libby were not yet used to Hawthorne House so seeing a boy come out of a coat closet must've been wild for them 😭😭)
AND JAMIE - everything about his first appearance is so him (dangling precariously from a balcony railing, nearly giving Avery a heart attack bc she thought he'd fall, speaking in riddles and crypts and calling her Mystery Girl [screams internally])
Nash's entrance was him in the Great Room with a suit paired with COWBOY BOOTS and his first interaction w Avery, he told her he didn't care about the money and took off with his motorcycle (he just left after the will was read which just shows his IDGAF attitude and "y'all can fight over the inheritance but I'm outta here")
