i feel like more could be hc'd about what magic people would want to do after their sigils were removed. like.

Raine could mingle healing magic with their bard magic, being able to play and heal at the same time (even if its from behind a curtain). also maybe some potions

BUMP COULD FINALLY GO NUTS WITH PLANT MAGIC!!!!!

alador would def start using construction type magic. maybe even looking into cooking magic. the fact that there was not an engineering coven shocks me. maybe studies oracle magic just as a safety precaution

darius of course would have his stylist or fashion magic, not that he needed it. but imagine him going on to learn healing magic.

eberwulf would definitely just whip out plant magic at some point. that scrappy thing with illusion magic would be hysterical

odalia would probably take on potions and maybe plants. whatever to manipulate more people. so definitely illusion too

that poor librarian could actually have some magic not related to cats. prim could open her store again.

Rewatching  labyrinth runners when I caught this little moment. The Illusion teacher immediately jumps in front of Ed to protect him and then without skipping a beat Bump grabs her wrist, not to stop her, but to create a barrier between the Coven Scout and Ed 🥲 🥰

I actually did have an amazing principle in high school, so it’s really cool to see Bump represented as one that truly cares for his students. unlike most shows who’s principles are child hating, power hungry, lazy tyrants.

This scene hit me really hard in the gut. But i noticed that Darius’s eyes aren’t green. At first i thought he was just doing that morph thing on his hair all the time for the aesthetic. But his eye’s are green as an adult like abomination eyes. Did his appearance change when he became a coven head to fit the coven he was leading? Does this mean that Eberwolf may look completely different? This does explain why Lillith’s hair is still blue if this change is permanent. And why plant bitch has literal vines(?) for hair.

Belos is literally molding these people into being what he defines them as, non-humans with a power to them. To him, thats their one defining trait, and their whole character.

okay wow wow wow this was an awesome ep.

this episode was great in a way that i havent felt toh be in a while? like, dont get me wrong. the whole two seasons were all awesome. but this just hit different in so many ways.

so first we get gus and his insecurities, which i actually was wondering about since we were told that he had moved up two grades bc he excelled at his classes. gifted kid meets toh? obviously we were going to address these things at some point.

it was also nice to see how gus and willow became friends + seeing good ways to recover from panic attacks/anxiety

then we come to present day, and we see hunter has hid in the only place he had any sort of good memories, hexide. its unfortunate that he hasnt gone to the owl house / darius but honestly this makes more sense as he doesnt trust any of the owl fam yet... or darius for that matter. (and idk if he even wouldve been able to find him + darius in hunter's mind is still associated w belos)

also YES, more willow and amity friendship-mending. we see that amity's perception of willow is still stuck in the past, as someone who needs protection and isnt exactly the best at magic. i loved how willow absolutely showed her that she was entirely capable of standing her ground (while also accepting help) and i love how amity immediately recognizes her mistake. hope we can see these two working together more, their fight was awesome.

principle bump! him being supportive and caring towards the children was wholesome as always and i love how he tries to protect them even against the emperor's coven. (also the pre-fight part where he summons? his staff from his head was so. fricking. cool. i just wish we couldve seen him fight more, but what we got was cool too.)

hunter initially not accepting gus's trust offer but going back when gus was in need and trying to help was so nice, he couldnt trust anyone including himself after knowing about his origin so it was so great to see him being able to trust, even a little, again.

also HOLY HECK gus is insanely powerful w his illusion magic, the wide affected area really reminds me of the previous gus-centered ep

other small thoughts - i love that the cat-eared guard finally has a name and voice, and that they stood up for themselves and quit 😅

and hunter getting a long overdue hug was so nice :)) (and, obscure ref warning, him looking at gus's grom/hexide photos reminded me of shinsou hitoshi from mha looking wistfully at class 1a being friends in the light novels, its sad and cute at the same time 🥲)

oh and the illusion head not stopping his magic even when gus, a literal CHILD, said it was HURTING HIM?? im sorry but i hate him for that (among other things)

and where is luz, king, hooty, eda, and lilith? i was wondering if we would get at least a shot of them or something but apparently not and i am WORRIED.

Can we talk about how fucked up Grom is? Like the creature brings your fears to life and someone has to fight it every year so it doesn't invade the town. Then Bump decides to make it a party where EVERYONE CAN WATCH!!! Oh it's fine it's not your most VULNERABLE THING OF YOUR LIFE OR ANYTHING!! I love Bump to bits but come on man!

I personally like to imagine he is a wild witch and just lied on is resume. Mans hates Belos and wants to make sure the students do too.

He genuinly cares for his students and even took Hunter in.
