Master cinematographer James Wong Howe filming Teresa Wright on location in a scene from Pursued (1947). This is Jim's seventh honorable mention, after Peter Pan (1924), Manhattan Melodrama, Mark of the Vampire, Algiers, Abe Lincoln in Illinois, and City for Conquest.

Happy Birthday in the afterlife to one of my all time favorites, Robert Mitchum! Like Alain Delon, Chow Yun-Fat, Lee Marvin, Peter O’Toole, Franco Nero, Takeshi Kitano, Toshiro Mifune and Jack Nicholson, Watching Robert Mitchum is always a pleasure! Out of The Past and Heaven Knows Mr. Allison are gems in a career full of them!

Day 16: Chase and catch
@summer-of-whump
--
It’s a losing battle, though.
Yuuki’s tackled to the ground. His breath’s driven out of him. He wrestles with the weight on top of him, throwing himself into the wildest struggle he can manage. His fist catches the guy in the jaw. It almost feels like a fluke. Yuuki knees the guy in the stomach and throws him off of himself.
He rolls over, brings his legs under himself and makes to get up and run again.
But he’s out of time.
Another weight lands on his back.
Yuuki plants his palm into the soil and tries to buck him off, but then there’s a hand clamping down on the back of his neck and slamming his head back down. The elbow digging into his back leaves his spine, only to be replaced by a firm grip on his wrist. Before Yuuki can draw in a breath, his arm’s wrenched behind his back and his wrist pulled right up to between his shoulder blades.

Nourish right conceptions of the majesty of God in your minds. Let us consider that we are drawing to God, the most amiable object, the best of beings, worthy of infinite honor, and highly meriting the highest affections we can give; a God that made the world by a word, that upholds the great frame of heaven and earth; a Majesty above the conceptions of angels; who uses not His power to strike us our deserved punishment, but His love and bounty to allure us; a God that gave all creatures to serve us, and can, in a trice, make them as much our enemies as he hath now made them our servants. Let us view Him in His greatness, and in His goodness, that our hearts may have a true value of the worship of so great a majesty, and count it the most worthy employment with all diligence to attend upon Him.

Judith Anderson and Dean Jagger are husband and wife in an original publicity still for Pursued (1947). Dean was born in Columbus Grove, Ohio, and had 133 acting credits from 1929 to 1985. This is his sixth honorable mention, after 13 Hours by Air, Driftwood, Rawhide, The Great Man and Firecreek. His entries among my best 1001 are Bad Day at Black Rock and The Nun's Story.
His other notable credits include Whoopee, Revolt of the Zombies (1936), Western Union, Twelve O'Clock High (his Oscar winner), Dark City, The Robe, White Christmas, Elmer Gantry, and episodes of The Twilight Zone, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Partridge Family, The Waltons, and St Elsewhere.

Honestly the cliche advice is true. If you fill your life w things you’re passionate about, if you challenge yourself every day, if you give your own opinion of yourself more weight than you do other people’s opinions of you, you will actually thrive. Like no one can tell u anything
