So, I was thinking, 'beauty' is such a vast notion, like we all have different understanding of 'beauty' and what each of us will consider as 'beautiful'.

And, if I remember correctly Argenti and other Knights of Beauty didn't 'meet' Idrila in person? But all of them believe that they are alive and some are even looking for them. So what if when Argenti first 'met' or 'saw' Idrila he felt something like peace and warmth (like you know, when you just feel happy, peacefull and are enjoying life? or something like that, or like peacefull ocean?) and during one of his adventures he meets [Name] and when they hang out and idk help people together, Argenti feels the same peace and joy? that he felt when he 'met' Idrila? Like [Name] is Idrila, but at the same time not? Like [Name] is his Idrila? (not necessary in romantic way) Again because we all have different definitions and understandings of 'beauty', we see 'beauty' in different things and Idrila is Aeon of beauty so...

Prinia’s time in Duviri had been….fruitful. She grew up in one of the far-flung islands where she was treated as the noblewoman she felt she deserved to be. The far-flung islands, as we all know, were one-by-one lost to the Void and Prinia, as with many of the other residents, found herself displaced and living hand-to-mouth in the King’s inner circle of islands, the most well-guarded.

She had not taken kindly to the other Drifters whilst she had a place to call her own, and now the shoe was on the other foot. She began to resent the authority of the lands, namely Thrax, and all that his banner stood for. Hungry, dirty, and with nothing but the clothes on her back and her sharp wit, she would steal a Kaithe from the King’s own stables, and a bow and quiver of arrows from his barracks in the South.

In the dead of night, bells would toll in the nearby villages, and fires would light the starless sky ablaze. Voices would cry out, weeping of a violent stranger that would destroy their homes and pillage their grain. Their cries fell on deaf ears, as the King felt he had far more interesting matters to attend to, but in a moment of charity, put a bounty on this stranger’s head for the Dax and for any Drifter who could be persuaded with coin.

As the nights crept on, the pillager would attack towns and hamlets closer and closer to the Castle, and on one fateful night, fuelled by a gluttony only rivalled by the Orokin Elite, she decided to take the throne for herself.

This worked out as swimmingly as one would expect. Farmers and stablehands were no comparison in prowess to the King’s own royal guard. The Dax fell upon her the moment she raised her bow and, bleeding and broken, she slinked back into the night with the King’s defenders hot on her heels.

In one of Duviri’s many verdant fields, the scorned Drifter happened upon a mirror. On peering in, she could see a child with black hair and eyes that glowed like stars, dressed in black with scarred and mottled scars that reached for her face. The Drifter was hesitant, as first. She had never seen such a reflection in a Void Mirror before!

Fear is the most innate of human emotions, and as the calls of the Dax drew nearer, she pleaded with the child of the Void, begging her to hide her in her shadow, so that she may escape the blades of the guard.

The child smiled, and held out her hand. As the tip of the child’s index finger broke through the barrier, the trembling Drifter threw herself forward, grasping the hand that was extended to her. She fell through the mirror, through the Void.

The Drifter clung to the fingers of her saviour, desperate and afraid. Together they fell through a tunnel of light that split into colours unimaginable, then merged together again into the dullest of greys. The blur cleared from Prinia’s eyes for a moment to realise what was happening,  and wonder turned to horror as her feet disappeared into a fine mist. She tried the call out, but her voice failed her. Her fingers wriggled, trying to break free from what she now knew was not a kind-hearted stranger, but a viper who had been biding its time in the depths. The child’s grip around her tightened, and Prinia’s body slowly faded with the ebb and flow of the Void. This was not charity, she thought, but an untold deal, and yet she still got her wish. She would not fall to the Dax’s blade, nor see the punishment for what she had done.

This, she felt, was far worse. It would be as though she never existed.

“But she was just a copy,” Prinia sighed, smiling to herself as she closed the dusty old book. She stood, arching her back and standing at least a head taller than Ordis remembered her being. “One could say she never really existed at all.”

X was already such a departure from the previous “set” personalities of Qin Xian it does make me curious what shizun Qin Xian will be like!! I’m ready for the shizunfucker SVSSS/Erha parallels!

Your top 10 c-actors and top 10 c-actresses?

Oooo hm. I'll be honest with you and say that I don't actually watch as much Chinese dramas as people might think haha... It takes a very special premise to pull me in and even then, I usually don't end up liking 70% of whatever is on and abandoning it by the 3rd episode.

That said, I'm going to limit my picks to the top 5 off the top my head in each category. These are actors and actresses who, by virtue of their names being attached to a project, will get me interested in making it to episode 5 and of whom I have watched more than 2 projects that they've been a part of.

Actors

Leo Wu

Our family's Fei Liu 🥰 I know, I know. Didi is the furthest thing from Fei Liu these days, but in my mind, he'll forever be Fei Liu and there's a huge part of me that will always adore him for that. Throughout the years, his projects have been a hit or a miss with me. Either I'll like them or I won't. Which is what I like. I don't want to like everything my faves are part of.

Joseph Zeng

I can't remember which project I first saw him in, or how he even pinged on my radar. But before I knew it, I'd watched three of his dramas and I was about to watch more.

Qin Hao

THIS. DUDE. He's such a powerhouse of an actor and I AM--

He chooses some of the most intense projects and I'm so, so here for them. There's this magnetic quality to the way he acts and every time I get to see him onscreen, I'm absolutely mesmerised. I also have to be honest and say that I haven't had a change to work through his body of work, but I think it's just a matter of time (and mental space) before I do.

Liu Yuning

I believe some moots on this hellsite have had front row seats to my thirsting of this tall, thin, sassy da ge and I won't apologise for any of it. 100//10 would climb him in a heartbeat.

I fell for his voice first before I even knew his face (花开早 天知晓 天莫笑 天亦老~~!!!) and then I saw his face and BAM. Goner. Goodbye ovaries. You might be thinking, oh Gab you're just horny on main for him, to which I will say, yes, yes I am. Isn't that reason enough for me to have gone watch the variety show he was on WITHOUT SUBS. My banana ass went through a lot for this man ok? That's love.

Zhang Linghe

HIM. Saw him in Maiden Holmes. Watched how he acts with his eyes. Okay. Sold. Over the last couple of years, the one drama I really wanted to see him in was the TGCF live action adaptation, which as we all will know, won't be seeing the light of day any time soon. He was actually on my fancast list for Hua Cheng and I was pretty gratified when they announced that he was taking on the role.

He's been doing well for himself and I've liked him the dramas that have caught my eye, and I look forward to what he will bring to the table next. Even if he had been, unfairly in my opinion, saddled with this perception that his dramas have a difficult time getting to air.

Actress

Zhao Liying

Zhao Liying is someone with a face that is so sweet that you'd go into her projects thinking that she's going to portray one type of character then getting body slammed into a spiral of a drama length like The Story of Minglan.

Zhao Lusi

This woman is on track to being the best actress of her generation. Period. You can't fight me on this because you know I'm right.

She's an absolute powerhouse and there's this sense about her that she isn't afraid to get ugly, go roll in the mud and get dirty just to portray a character. I love that about her. There's just this sense of joy to watch her act because she's not just embodying the character, she IS the character. I wouldn't be surprised if her international audience reach is really big because it's what a Queen like her deserves.

Tian Xiwei

Now, she is someone that I never thought I would be into. But I think the dimples should have been a good indication that I was gonna get suckered into her projects and for that, I'm glad. I've only seen bits and bobs of three of her projects, but if the way that I am actually intrigued by the projects she takes on is any clue, I think I'll be sufficiently entertained.

Liu Mintao

Every time I see her, I wanna just be on my knees and call her Mother.

She is absolutely fantastic in every role she takes on. The gentle but steely Consort Jing in Nirvana in Fire? The nurturing and protective Ming Jing in The Disguiser? Check and Check. Love her. I low key think she's a chameleon. Her body of work speaks to the quality of her acting.

Esther Yu

(listen. LISTEN. I HAD TO INCLUDE ONE OF THE HOTTEST KISS SCENES IN CDRAMALAND THAT ISN'T A DEAD FISH LIPS SITUATION OK)

The first time she ever pinged on my radar, it was because of her antics with Lisa from Blackpink during her Produce days. Found her cute and endearing, but that was it. And then came Love Between Fairy and Devil. Without knowing, I fell in love with her charms. She is another actress I think isn't afraid to own being neck deep in the nitty and gritty and not looking perfect. I'm very interested to see what sort of projects she takes on, and judging by her Yun Weishan in My Journey to You, I think there'll be much to anticipate.

Minglan & Madam Qin mirror each other

Something that intrigued me during the ending isn't really discussed is the way they framed Madam Qin's death. And why Minglan seems to have decided to let off Molan easy.

The scene isn't a triumph of evil. It's almost framed in a tragic way like it was meant to happen but every characters present are horrified & crying. If you listen closely, Gu Tingye even accidentally revert back into calling her "Mother" for a second when he realizes Grand Madam Qin is in the burning ancestral hall.

Grand Madam Qin kinda mirrors Minglan in a way she spent her life pretending to be something she's not, ended up scheming & banking everything on her biological kid to get the Marquis title which = power for her & ultimately commited suicide by setting the Gu ancestral hall on fire, which for her is a representation of her own misery (even tho she is mostly responsible for it), reminding the audience that she was as much her and her sister, a victim of the system.

Madam Qin is possibly how Minglan could have grown into if she hadn't the support of her grandmother, her servants or Gu Tingye. If she married had in the Qi's family & kept on her facade all her life.

And we know that like Madam Qin, Minglan is willing to scheme against her own family members & cause some servants to get hurt or killed to reach some her goals.

Not unlike Madam Qin who had a more powerful background, she too, would have to rely on the fickle support of her husband while hoping for her potential son to succeed. She would have probably ended up using Qi Heng in her schemes instead of having an actual partnership like she does with Gu Tingye.

We know Hualan struggled in her Counts in-laws. Can you imagine how hard it would have been for Minglan (who is concubine-born) under the Duchess if she ultimately decided to not disregard her prejudices?

I kinda get why Minglan, Minglan who schemed against her own family, Minglan who was willing to risk the Sheng's reputation to have Concubine Lin's killed, Minglan who broke a cup in anger upon hearing how Madam Kang was planning to harm Gu Tingye by pushing her cousin as a concubine (and also for a second seemed to be ready to almost physically harm her cousin as she suddendly stood up) , Minglan who declared about wanting to hack in pieces her aunt & feeding her to the dogs for harming grandma & had servants tortured, ended up begging Madam Qin to get out of the burning ancestral hall & cried as she watched her die after listening to her rant.

They may have hated each other but she knew where she came from. And for a moment, Minglan possibly saw how she could have turned as well if she had not the sincere relationships that she had in her life & kept pretending.

It's maybe (while she's not aware of Molan's participation in freeing Auntie Kang) also why she decided to extend an olive branch to Molan as a result.

Was thinking and find it incredibly fun how much of a win LB3 was for Qin in story. Not only did he reconnect with his humanity and decide to have the lostbelt go on his own terms, HE DIDN’T EVEN HAVE TO GIVE IT UP. It’s still just out there, he managed to fuckin stabilize it in his interlude. He’s so confident because he knows if we mess up, he can literally just do Lostbelt 3: 2, and actually make it compatible with phh this time.

I’m so behind on the main chapters--I’m only at chapter 7 so I don’t trust Qin Yi but that Grand Obsession though--Honestly, I’m pretty invested. I enjoyed the story a lot.

But more importantly, the end of it and that one [middle branch, left] ending being my first ending, I was like “Are--did we just possibly--IN A NIKKI GAME?”

I’m so confused, but I’m also onboard with it and that is such a weird feeling haha

But hot potato, those two endings on the right hand-side and some of his lines are OUCH and OH MY GOD NO. Especially considering we start out the story knowing we’re in another story.

You know what, I want more interactions between Yanqing and Jing Yuan, more father-son binding time! Like I got so many ideas of Jing Yuan teaching young Yanqing different sword techniques, or idk martial arts???

And Yanqing is such a cute and precious boy!

🍓 cannot wait for QSH's battle to be animated! She's a big lover of mythology and important figures from history so this anime/manga has been a blast.

The anime ends with the introduction of Qin Shi Huang (秦始皇) , the first Emperor of China and 🍓 cannot wait for the battle between the two Kings.

Ying Zheng's introduction was such a ride. Blasting through walls to get where he wants , invading the Greek Gods VIP seating and claiming it as his , throwing Ares down , and his battle introduction was 🩷

When all the Emperors of China after him all lined up below and rolled a carpet for him~ 🩷 🍓 seriously loves SnV QSH.

And at the end of his battle with Hades , where he called the King of the Underworld 朋友 (TL: Friend) , 🍓 sobbed so much.

🍓 hasnt read the latest 3 chapters but she's excited for match between Apollo and King Leonidas! Chapter 79 ends with them being introduced as competitors for the 9th round!

(Secretly 🍓 is hoping Apollo wins because that's her godly parent but also she really wants to see Leonidas beat his narcissistic ass)

Update: Of course his narcissistic side is a front. Lesson learnt. Never doubt father dearest. (Forgive me Lord Apollo. Your child is ignorant)

watching ror and i just have some thoughts
