8 brutal miles. 2 miles on trails, 3 miles uphill. It will get easier. And when it does, I'll make it harder.

Trail Marathon Recap: Yes. It happened. I made my 5th marathon a trail race. A trail race with 9500 ft. (2890m) elevation gain. That's a lot for someone who had just some hiking and short runs at 35 degrees Celsius in the last months. But I wanted to give it a try while living in the mountains. So I did. I jogged half of the race and hiked the other half. It took me nearly eight and a half hours. I can't even say what the hardest part was...the steep first 3 miles with almost 2900 ft of elevation gain? The fact that roots and stones covered the trails? That one mountain followed the next one? Or that the "easy" downhill part started after 22/23 miles and wasn't easy at all? Because of roots, stones and the fact that I was so so sore. Another challenge was the backpack (CamelBak) with all things I had to take with me (2l of water, food, first aid kit, rain jacket, warm clothes). I counted the last kilometres one by one and was so happy when I reached the finish line. And food. OMG food. It was the best thing. I was so hungry at every single aid station and they had chocolate, fruit, pretzels, bread and tea. Although it was hard I enjoyed the nature and the whole race. And miraculously I feel absolutely great and not sore at all. I'm so so so happy that I did this even though I'm a baby trail runner with zero experiences. I'm in love with the mountains.

Hot and sweaty and loving my runs in the scorching afternoon sun☀️ I am usually a big fan of running in the cold but I have to say nothing beats a sweaty run and coming home to ice cold water and ice cream ( @championsaremade I thought of you when I dug into my ice cream post run 💕)

Run streak day:175 Miles for the year: 701.19 2 quick miles done!! I felt like I needed a "rest" day today so I decided to keep it shorter, and I tried to not push to hard as well, still managed a decent pace though I guess I live in the 8s now lol. Also I broke 700 miles which is sooooo awesome, I can almost taste that 1,000 miles goal that has been so elusive I think I can make it!!!! Happy running everyone!!

Heyyyyyy yo, your girl ran FIFTEEN miles this morning! My original plan called for 14, and I was crazy nervous- this is the first run I've ever done over 13.1 miles. And it was supposed to rain (on top of the 5inches of rain and flash floods from yesterday). I was not feeling inspired. So I met up with two women in my training group at our long run who were planning about the same distance, and usually pace right around the same time as me, so we went out together. And like. It was so good. Like, so good we added an extra mile because one of the women was aiming for 15. We just did an out and back, and it wasn't super fast, but it was consistent and I'm happy we stayed below 11 min/mi. It honestly might have been faster, but I didn't stop my watch at water stops or intersections today. I felt like I could have kept running. For the first time, I felt like I could actually finish this marathon. Followed, as always, by bagels and coffee. And a banana because I was starving afterwards!

Marathon training W4D1: 13 km Ugh. This was the second 13 km run of this training cycle, and I think I've decided it's my least favourite distance. It always feels harder than actually long runs and I think I figured out why! It falls into the unhappy medium distance where I'm running long enough to get uncomfortably fatigued, but not long enough to get into that specific long run headspace where fatigue just doesn't matter to me. So as weird as it sounds, I'm actually looking forward to the crazy long runs later in my plan. Anyway, this sucked. I was really slow despite feeling like I was working hard. I got super bored. And my shoulders and chest were SO sore from trying a new workout yesterday that it hurt to pump my arms, which I hadn't even considered as a potential problem. Oh well, nowhere to go from here but up!
