Back on the Wyll/Halsin train (i never got off), but I'm thinking now in context with Halsin's initial romance "ending" where he makes the assumption that their paths are diverging because the hero of the Realms likely has a whole handful of better things they need to do and places they need to be, and he has his own goals to achieve, and that he will wait with bated breath with eyes on the horizon until they see each other again, etc.
And in the context of Wyll, who genuinely *might* have something important for him to take care of in Baldur's Gate (ex. Becoming Duke), it adds that additional layer of Halsin being considerate of how leadership can often be isolating (by what he thinks may be necessity judging by how he approached it) - it's that longing, romantic bittersweetness of plays and epics - just like the songs -making it all the more surprising when Wyll laughs and tells him no actually, he's going to follow after him. When he stammers about babies to be kissed and all that, it's a genuine shock, because Wyll is not *only* the hero of the Gate but potentially its newest political leader to boot - he *does* have far more important things potentially to be doing. Yet he chooses to go after him and rebuild - he decides to start anew.
It all slots together very well.

People judge actions based on reactions and Mike is a prime example. He is a very hated character right now but consider this
Season 1: Mike said to El (twice, I believe) "What is wrong with you!" She ran off hurt but returned within a couple episodes. (People often like to parallel him saying this in season 4 to the cliff scene when he didn't but forget the times he did. He didn't get worse or more hypocritical you just picked bad examples). I don't remember him directly apologizing for this, though he did validate that she was not a monster and he did not see her as such and that could be counted for one of these instances.
He is widely forgiven and even forgotten for this.
Season 4: Mike initiates an attempt to understand and console El. When confronted, he cannot say I love you but tries to say everything else he can to make her feel better. She is crying, speaking poorly of herself, and angrily throws letters while confronting him. After many episodes apart (which he spends brainstorming how to fix things and she spends not bringing it up once) he apologizes to her in full, hitting every point and taking full responsibility, at the soonest opportunity.
He is widely antagonized for this.

Another incest piece, at the risk of my asks being filled with very questionable shit. The daughter’s at least 18. I created her so I can make that decision.
C/W: Incest, Rape, Somnophilia (is this the right format?)
It’s alright, baby. Drink as much as you want. I’m here for you. I’ll keep you safe, I promise. Daddy’s not going to let anyone touch you. Well… except myself. Mhm? Nothing, puppet. Drink up now. That’s a good girl. Don’t worry, this will be our little secret while your mother’s out of town. Well, it would be a secret if she hadn’t encouraged me to do this… Nothing, sweetheart, you’re hearing things. Now let’s get you back. You look like you’re half asleep. Honey? Honey?
Oh, you silly little girl. Falling asleep while you’re out drinking with Daddy. Now I’ll have to carry you back. It’s a good thing I’m not one of those evil, perverted men that would ruin your pretty fuckholes, princess. Aww, you sound so cute when you slur your words like that. You sound just like your mother, the first time I raped her. Just go back to sleep, my love. It’ll just be a bad nightmare when you wake up, won’t it?
Now that you’re in bed, let’s see what you have under that dress… Oh my. I didn’t realise my pretty little princess was wearing such adult underwear. Did you know I would be the one taking your dress off tonight? Did you know Daddy would be the one to strip you naked, sweetheart? Is that why you’re wearing that? Aww, you didn’t need to do that for me. I’d fuck you anyway. I’d breed my own daughter regardless of what she wore.
Oh, fuck. Shit, even when you’re asleep the lips of your cunt kiss my cock perfectly. It’s like… it’s like you were made for me. Oh shit, look at that. Your creamy cunt’s slathering my shaft, even when you have no idea it’s happening.
I knew you were a pervert, just like your parents.
And what if I… did this- FUCK! Oh fuck, yes. God, you’re even tighter than your whore of a mother when she was your age. God, I don’t think I’m going to last long. I’m using my fucking daughter’s pussy to jack off in. Shit, let’s release these tits. Ugh, you’re perfect. They’re beautiful. God, but they’d look so much better with my cock thrusting between them and your pretty eyes looking up into mine. I’m fucking cumming, princess. I’m so sorry, I can’t help it. Just take it all. Take all of Daddy’s hot seed in your fertile womb, as nature intended. You were designed to be mine from the start.
Perhaps you’ll learn that when you realise your belly and tits are swelling up.

Okay, so a thing about Tolkien's Middle-Earth is that, for elves and other beings of comparable metaphysical stature, the "distance" between an act of will and its tangible result is shorter than it is for mortals. The universe is just more inclined to play along with how they want it to work, which is why they're not lying when they claim not to know what magic is even though the products of their craftsmanship are by any reasonable standard supernatural – they just make stuff, and it works the way it does because that's how they intended it to.
This has a number of fun worldbuilding implications, like inventors having tangible authority over things crafted using their techniques, regardless of who does the actual crafting, because they literally willed the principles which allow those techniques to work into being, or the fact that when powerful beings die, sometimes stuff that depends on techniques they invented stops working. However, there's a bigger implication that that's generally gone unaddressed:
Elves can't do science.
Like, it's straight up impossible. A Tolkien elf cannot construct and carry out a meaningful experiment of any sort – it'll always works the way they expect it to, but only for that particular elf. Confirmation bias is an insurmountable barrier.
I want to read a story about the elf who figures this out and it bothers them terribly.
