I haven't decided on what exactly Jevil did wrong.. But I'm thinking that a long time ago the Spade King cut his horns as a punishment for something..

Jevil is deeply embarrassed by his horn stumps.. so he never removes his hat around anyone other than Seam. The stumps are also rather sensitive to touch and cold temperatures. So keeping them covered by the hat not only keeps them warm, but also protects them from being touched or bumped in any way..

What really sucks about his hat situation though, is that Jevil hates his jester get up. All of it. But he cant deny that he needs his jester hat.. he's always on the look out for anything that can replace it. But its kind'a hard to find a hat that does the same job as his jester one, without being the same shape..

Every time I see the abs on Astarion it's like a jumpscare.

i love the companions' little inn living spaces bc 1) they're kind of paired off into roommates and the pairs are so interesting?? and 2) even though there's not a lot of space, their personalities totally shine through 🥹

astarion vs gale:

astarion's space is covered in bloody rags, which ofc it is, but also it kind of shows that he's not as neat and put together as he may appear... but on the other hand, he doesn't really need to be neat about his bed -- he's an elf, so he's not even really sleeping there LOL might as well use it as a kitchen (see: the bloody goblet)

meanwhile gale's space is painstakingly pristine and littered with books and other nerd stuff, plus a finely embroidered pillow with a bowl -- maybe for tara?

karlach vs lae'zel:

karlach uses her bed as a clothes pile LOL <3 but she's also got a bunch of books! (disclosure: i don't know her lore as thoroughly but,, perhaps she's catching up on things she's missed while in avernus?)

lae'zel's bed is neat and organized, but also covered in war trophies LOL. and then there's that small blood-stained rag in the front 😳 very intimidating, just like her

shadowheart's space has her shar worship items and is very neat -- she also keeps house plants! interesting how she enjoys caring for things that grow in the light... + i just noticed she and karlach have matching potted bushes 🥹

wyll's space seems somewhat sparse, but that makes sense given his backstory (exiled noble turned on-the-road adventurer) -- and there's that interesting little tray on his bedside table...

The ironic thing: I just threw them away. I moved at the end of February and tossed old cosplays. I took photographs before letting them go. Most were in bad condition, and all are old enough they don't represent the skill level I have today, so I wouldn't wear them anymore.

I still have the wig and use it - it's a versatile wig. Besides a fur vest I ruined, I own my HTTYD 1 Hiccup clothing because it doubles as regular clothes / easy Ren Faire stuff. The HTTYD 2 Hiccup iterations (I did several) are gone.

I kept a memento, though. I kept Hiccup's shield and I have it in my new office / music room. I was going to throw it, too, but Mom convinced me to keep it. I'm glad she did. It's still a cool hunk of wood.

went down to get some norbond (repair glue) at work today and on my coworker in Young Adult's cataloging cart there was. a young adult novel by cs pacat. already falling apart at the spine of course because the state of bookbinding today is abysmal and is the reason i go through ezbind So Fast just trying to preemptively reinforce every single thing that comes across my desk but ANYWAY. like. i have got to find out how mellowed down this novel is compared to her usual fare. like. some YA novels contain some racy bits for sure but i dont think the general pacat content could possibly be distilled into teen-friendly material and retain literally any of its x-ratedness. like. almost interested in finding out what a non-horny book by this woman would be like but also im sure i wouldnt enjoy it as much. like that would just be. a book. which is fine and i'm sure it's not bad! but i dont read pacat to read a book. i read her to read A...Book.....

#fascinating #almost felt like leaving a sticky note for coworker tho on the fucked up page. you know how when a book sees too much use #then the endpieces come apart and you can see the cloth backing there that is *supposed* to hold the signatures together? #(not that most mass market hardbacks have signatures anymore; they're all perfect-bound which is the misnomer of the industry) #that was happening on a brand new book. and by god the cloth was thin too. it was like . twelve little stupid strings just hanging there #they're all like that now #it's not quite as striking until you happen to be repairing a fair amount of older books #and then you realize that even ten fifteen years ago the backing was sturdier. there are more books with true signatures #and those older books might get beat up and tossed around and they dont look new anymore #but they dont rip apart in the dropoff bin nearly as fast as the books that are three years old #the repair i was doing this morning? year and a half. the glue just popped right out and took the whole endpiece with it #stupid as hell. makes me feel like mo from inkheart every time i do repairs

Our poor Broke As Fuck Matt Murdock had to pay $100-$1000 (depending on his plan) for JAWS on his laptop and $300-$1000 for an electronic braille display and another $1000-$2000 for his embossing printer we see in the defenders. lately, being around jules feels like being stuck in periapsis and apoapsis at once; orbiting around him - going way too slow and much too fast at the same time. and udyati doesn’t know what to do. where she once thought they were standing on solid ground together, now it feels like one wrong move might send her crashing down to the depths below while he watches her fall. jules went through an awful lot in his life, ranging from the loss of his dad to the loss of imari and that hurt and pain and trauma informs us of how he interacts with the world and the people in it.

he gets cold, he gets mean, he cuts people off. possibly, he hurts them before they can hurt him? if so, it is understandable. if so, udyati understands that, too.

to a certain extent, that is.

while she would normally talk it out and give out a second, third, fourth, fifth chance, now she’s not willing to forgive and forget. it’s not just that she really liked - probably even loved - jules but it’s also about how she felt comfortable with jules. comfortable enough to see him as someone she could turn to. comfortable enough to tell him about her alien-ness. 

not all of it, mind you, but pretty important bits and pieces, giving him the opportunity to ask about her, to delve into her; she kept doors open for him, a clear invitation for him to take or not to. udyati wouldn’t do that if she didn’t feel genuinely comfortable and safe with him.

and then he goes and just rips all of that away from her, that comfort, that safety, unearthing new fears as he goes.

and right when she’s gotten back up on her feet, he shows up again. and while she decidedly does not want him in her life as a friend and decidedly does not to try again, there is always gonna be just a hint of concern.

because one piece of her heart will always remain with him. after all, she carries the people she loves and the things they’ve taught her - good or bad - with her.

(and yeah, maybe she’s too much, maybe she’s too sensitive. maybe she should work on that.)

but udyati sees, knows, feels - and, yes, assumes that if she allows him to get close, things are either gonna play out like they have before, or they’re just gonna get worse from here.

she doesn’t have energy for that. she doesn’t think that, in particular, is a fight she can win. it shouldn’t even have to be a fight. she never wanted it to be. not with him. not with anyone.

of course it's possible for her to change her mind down the road but for now, it’s best to wish @sadtempo well and walk away before she gets hurt by him again.
