Bäst av bästklubben 2022 del 2

Björk - Fossora O: Artist känd från Bästkustens skivklubb. I stunder experimenterar hon med holländsk 90-talshårdtechno, och då kan det vara lite svårtuggat. Det uppstår dock en sorts aggressiv skörhet i kontrast med soundet i övrigt, som inte går att värja sig emot. Ljudbilden är som utgångspunkt ganska mörk, men letar sig mot ljuset. I skivans duetter blir det extra finstämt och lite avlastning från när Björk på gott och ont är väldigt mycket Björk. Ancestress är en bra plats att doppa tårna i.

Chat Pile - God's Country P: Årets tveklösa etta! Det var längesedan hårdrock lät så här bra. Det är som om man skulle blanda Hellboys HLM och en galen shaman och skruva upp det till hundra. Ibland känns det som att det inom hårdrocken är svårt att sticka ut nuförtiden, då allt har tagits till sin spets i sin respektive genre. Men här är ett exempel på att det fortfarande går. Kanske inte något för alla, men allt för de som orkar jobba sig genom det. Om ni bara ska lyssna på en låt: The Mask

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Omnium Gatherum M: Har fortsatt följa men tycker fortfarande Butterfly-skivan är bäst. Har en biljett till konserten på plan b i mars så får väl se om jag fortsätter efter det (kanske blir för mycket converse). Hänsynslöst genremässigt och snuddar stundvis in på metal. Hårt pressad dynamiskt vilket gör att jag kan somna till den.

Bill Orcutt - Music for Four Guitars N: Jag gillar skivor med gitarr och jag gillar skivor utan, men har en särskild plats i hjärtat för skivor med endast gitarr och inget annat. Möjligheterna känns oändliga. Inte en skiva för varje tillfälle, men när det behövs en riktig genomkörare finns den där och gör jobbet. Ut på andra sidan kommer man lite skarpare, redo att ta sig an världen.

Cate Le Bon - Pompeii R: Min sista skiva fick bli något lite mer i popvärlden. Det var svårt att välja, men jag tog en egensinnig artist jag gillar. Hon är lite av en modern John Cale för mig, kanske för att de båda kommer från Wales. Men det är något i hennes uttryck som för tankarna till honom. Jag upptäckte artisten på hennes skiva Reward från 2019 och den blev en favorit. Årets skiva bygger vidare på Reward och tar det någon annan stans. Det är mycket chorus, lite skeva och aviga melodier samtidigt som det är vackert stundom. Är det också lite John Cale? Hur som helst en väldigt bra skiva tycker jag som gör intressanta saker med den välbeprövade poplåten. Tycker absolut skivan kan vara med på en årets bästa lista. Det förekommer lite saxofon på skivan, bara en vänlig liten förvarning. Dock rätt nedtonat.

Hurray For The Riff Raff - Life On Earth N: En varm famn under en energifattig och oinspirerad höst. Lite depp, lite punk och en hel del bombasm.

Authentically Plastic - Raw Space M: Tror jag gillar för det låter som tren né blandat med Craig Leon och fungerat som inspiration. Monotont, rytmiskt och tribeigt.

Martin Hederos - Hederos C/O Satie R: Vi stannar kvar i Sverige en liten stund till och ett annat återseende. I början av 2000-talet var The Soundtrack of Our Lives stora. En våg av retrorock sköljde över oss. Martin Hederos spelade diverse klaviaturinstrument där, men gjorde inte så mycket väsen av sig annars. Det var ju i grund och botten ett gitarrdrivet band. Nu långt senare har jag fått upp ögonen för honom och hans mångsidighet. Bland annat med Tonbruket. I år släppte han en skiva där han improvisera på den klassiska kompositören Saties stycken. Två traditioner möts, klassisk och jazz. Den här typen av klassisk musik har dock något som passar för det här. Det är en stillsam och mysig pianoskiva för vintermörkret. Finns en bra intervju med honom från P1 Kultur där han pratar om skivan och konceptet kring den.

Jonathan Johansson - Om vi får leva T: Absolut inte Jonathans bästa skiva men ändå en skiva som jag har lyssnat mycket på i år. Lite säkrare och tråkigare än skivan innan som är snudd på ett mästerverk. Det är fortfarande Jonathan och då blir det sällan dåligt. Bästa låtar: Varje Regnbåge och På boulevarden.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Changes D: Sist ut blir ett sista minuten-fynd tack vare Macke. Popigare och ett av de få av KGatLW’s album som utmärker sig med ett mer unikt sound. En hel del flöjt dessutom.
