Get Back Rewatch 55 Years On: Day 18
Staring John Lennon, as that kid I should’ve been nicer to in first grade who always smelled like PB&J and was never to be seen without his pokemon cards
Tumblr media
The dancing is really too cute. They’re just absolutely giddy. Making each other laugh AND an excuse to touch? John and Paul’s heaven.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John saying he was too excited after yesterday to go to bed. Like a fucking kid on christmas.
Everybody is serving today. While the candy-land suit is fun, I actually just love that vivid purple so much that I think it’s better without the coat over it. Billy looks extremely suave and classy.  And those red polka-dots on Ringo. Red suits him, and I think with his very frank, masculine aspect, he looks so beautiful and bold in feminine fits. Paul and John are both just wearing what they wore yesterday. Yeah. But John is still a cutie, and Paul, well, you all know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The advice chain about finishing a song while you’re working on. Paul → John → George
Paul honestly does a great job being supportive of George and his work. Coming over and grooving with him, then hopping on drums then guitar (right-handed, may I add). Just to give George musical atmosphere to flesh out his song and start thinking of arrangement ideas, I assume. Then letting him bounce ideas around. And the whole time being overly-enthusiastic to build George up. Look how happy George is with the love and attention.
Tumblr media
John helping move some equipment in. We love a man who sometimes doesn’t think he’s too good for manual labor.
Yes, clean that homeless man’s palm sweat off your instrument. Probably smart.
TFW you made Paul McCartney jealous of your musical abilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
John really knew so well when to be his little impish self and when to be hard and intimidating. Exhibit A, going from, “Can we have our microphones, oh, mister, can we please?” to “And get one for Billy too.” In a matter of seconds.
George Martin stepping in when they’re all getting panicky about the sound and they need an authority figure to reassure them in ways that someone like Glyn Johns never could. Just, perfectly cool and collected, puts everything right as they’re all shouting at him like school children who’ve just had a terrible time in PE.
“Believe me, when I tell you.” “Oh, I do.” Oh, good. He did put it in. That’s nice. Right, and this is the moment Yoko decides to tell John her divorce has come through and pull him in for a big smooch. Honestly, it just shows how threatened she feels by Paul. Nevermind her whole, “good thing Paul isn’t a girl or he would have been a great threat,” quote. Clearly, he just is a threat regardless of sex.
And then John, “I’m freeeee.” At Paul. Honestly, the amount of things they direct specifically and aggressively at each other that should’ve just been general statements if there wasn’t some weird thing between them. It’s really something. Normally, you’d announce something like that to the whole room. But it seems John specifically wants to impress upon Paul that he and Yoko could get married right now if they wanted to. I mean, it’s a little difficult to make the point, because John and Paul almost aways seem to be talking only to each other. But through the whole discussion of Yoko’s divorce, John does not take his eyes off of Paul.
Tumblr media
Oh my gosh, Ivan Vaughn is here? How many emotional support boyfriends does Paul need to make up for John having Yoko? Glyn, Linda, George Martin, Dennis, Robert Fraser, and now Ivan? Fuck’s sake, Yoko, you’re a powerful woman.
Paul’s Strawberry Fields piano. Let me be as vulnerable and broken as possible in my singing, since I can’t show you any other way that you’re killing me. Do you remember this song? That you wrote when we were at the height of our partnership only two years ago? How happy we were then? How beautiful the world seemed for that one brief moment? And John can’t look at him, because, yes he fucking remembers and yes he knows he’s hurting Paul. But for whatever reason, (my theory is he wanted something more Paul couldn’t give him. What that was and whether it was ever specifically vocalized I don't have a guess) going back to that time would be more painful to John than this has been.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So they’ve been goofing off and Paul gives this little speech to get them back on task. “Alright Chawn Love. I’ve gotta call order, John, now, valuable time, here, son. Cool down, son.” But John’s response, “Don’t let me down, babe” completely switches Paul’s gears. He now thinks it’s important enough to get in this little snatch of a *meaningful* cover, “Take these Chains from my Heart,” reversing the course of productivity he’d got them on and ignoring the fact that they were about to do a take on two-shilling-a-foot tape. My interpretation of this moment is a bit tin-hatish and long, but suffice it to say, John is not happy with the message.
Tumblr media
Everyone convincing Paul to do another take of his song is surprising, considering everything we always hear about how Paul was a tyrant task-master who just forced everyone to keep doing his lame muzak over and over when they all clearly hated it. Mal, “You can always go back to it.” Paul, “Do you want your head kicked in?” John, “We’ll never get a chance to do it again.” Paul, “Okay, honey bunch. Let’s hit it one time, tutti-frutti.”
Yoko watching Paul check out her boyfriend’s ass. Classic. Also the fact that she literally copied his outfit? I get so much second-hand embarrassment for her, and it’s not when she’s being a weirdo and a statement-maker. It’s the having to physically stick the gum you were offering your boyfriend into this hand because he won’t take his eyes off his boyfriend for two seconds to look at you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone laughing at Perfect Paul being out of tune is so funny to me. Like when the nerd finally gets a question wrong and the whole class is all “ooooohhhh!”
Ringo having a grand old time on the drums. I love that he just knew that’s what he wanted to do from such a young age and he never wanted to do anything else. And why would he? He’s a genius at it.
Paul. “John’s got something at 1:30 and so have I.” Smirk emoji. Side-eye emoji. George is with me. “Yeah we've got something too. I’ll do Ringo at 1:30.” I'm dead.
This moment right here hurts me. Paul’s enjoying a nice cuddle with Ringo until he remembers the camera. You’re not going to get in trouble for having your friend’s arm around your shoulders, Paul. Why are you like this?

Dragons Rising Season 2, Episode 2: Shattered Dreams
Before I start I just want to say that I don't know how long my little recap will take to finish because of my life schedule, but hopefully I'll get it done within a week. I share a TV with two other people so that puts a hold on my ability to rewatch.
Now lets begin!
Heyyy Cloud Kingdom!
Is the Master Writer destined to be a douche??
I also want bagels. ("Selecting a bagel." -Peter Parker; Into the Spider Verse, 2018).
I'm still so confused on how writing destiny works. Do they decide destiny? Do they not? I don't get it. Someone please help me.
EUPHRASIA YAAAAAAAS
Hey Imperium!
Percivallll I love youuuu yes you fix Imperium!
Euphrasia freaking dies.
"Then I wake up screaming." DO YOU WANT MY HEART TO FALL OUT??!
Lloyd is a braver man than I. I could never consume that tea.
Not Lloyd making a joke about his panic attack. Me too buddy.
I LOVE LLOYD. SO MUCH. YOU ALL WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND.
Still don't know what the deal with Fedulian is.
Awh, Arin. I love him so much.
PLATONIC "I LOVE YOU"'S.
Why are the so mean about Sora's cat? Poor Sora.
Lloyd getting floored by a cart. Nice.
NADAKHAN'S TEAPOT!! (/j)
Do we think that anyone in our team is going to get their soul shattered?
ARIN AND PERCIVAL RAAGGHHHHH
Oh ehm gee Cinder heyyy. (Guys I kind of get it).
OKAAYYYY EUPHRASIA SLAYYYY
I love Lloyd thinking Arin's grapple is cool.
Lloyd is just SO kind to Arin he's so gentle with him and is always reassuring him it AGHHHh I love.
So was it because of Ras that the ninja were attacked in season 1?
Isn't there a comic about the Forbidden Five? I want to read it.
AGHHHHAH LLOYD HAVING ANXIETY.
Not Sora still not remembering Jordana.
I want to know who is under the wolf masks GRRRR.
NYA GRABBING LLOYD'S HAND TO STEADY HIM AGHH.
More Arin getting tossed by the foot.
"You know I thrashed the last one, right?" Served.
First Shatterspin fight is pretty cool. I love how Wildbrain has really solidified that they have the superior action sequences.
Lloyd's sword toss move during the fight has me giggling he is so cool.
RIP Wyldfyre's leg.
LET CINDER MURDER.
Arin and Lloyd's jump looked a lil goofy tbh.
Lloyd havinnnnnng more doubt.
Oooohhhh yes the gong clashing + Cinder's snarky lil smirk. Peak television. I love.
GUYS I LOVE DRAGONS RISING SO MUCH. I don't think words can actually express the depth of my love for this series. This is it. After 13 years, I think Ninjago has finally hit it's own true potential. I have so many things I want to say but I think it will be at the end of my recap series.
Shatterspin is so cool and I love how Cinder owns them all. We see firstly that Cinder is a good fighter, but not good enough to defeat Kai without Shatterspin. Then, when he actually uses Shatterspin, the ninja don't stand a chance. It proves how powerful the technique really is.
I think I mentioned this in the last episodes post, but Lloyd having canon anxiety and panic attacks is just. Everything. Representation is fantastic. As someone who has had anxiety my whole life... if I had seen that as a child, maybe I would've learned about my anxiety way earlier. I'm so glad that this show is not afraid to talk about mental health.
I just. I love.
(this is the sword toss i was talking about)

“There is only room for one God in this lab and it's not yours."
Welp, my city has decided that it forgot how weather works, and we’re snowed in and there’s a frozen pipe in my goddamn basement and I finished an interview loop for a company last week so I’m just sitting here trapped in my house and waiting desperately for any news on if they might hire me and it’s not going amazing SO,
It’s time for a FRINGE BINGE.
I saw a post a week or two ago that Fringe might be leaving Max at the end of the month, and I couldn’t let it go without a rewatch. It’s one of the reasons I started playing “What G’s Watching” with my husband - he’d seen it when it first came out and I thought maybe he’d remember some of it and could understand my rambling, because you need some kind of background to truly grasp what the eff is happening in Fringe. He didn’t. But that didn’t stop me from becoming completely obsessed.
Even when I’m not rewatching, sometimes I’ll yell “PREVIOUSLY ON FRINGE” when the show I’m actually enjoying does a recap. I don’t know why it’s stuck in my brain, but it doesn’t matter, I love it.
Here’s the thing about Fringe: it’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s like X-Files on acid (or Walter’s Brown Bettty?). The science is ridiculous and honestly it’s difficult to follow the lore sometimes, especially the first time through it. But it’s weirdly captivating and it tugs at your heart strings, which doesn’t make any sense.
Basically, FBI agent Olivia Dunham gets sucked into a special division that investigates weird occurrences that seem to have to do with ‘fringe science’, and she ends up enlisting Peter Bishop and his genius scientist father, Walter Bishop (who’d spent almost twenty years in a mental institution) to help her get to the bottom of what the eff is going on.
AND THEN THINGS GET CRAZY.
They pump so much backstory into this show. There’s monsters of the week, sure, but every single character has a whole damn room full of skeletons and it was so much fun trying to puzzle all of that shit out the first time. In my rewatch so far, I’m picking up a ton of little random clues and I’m loving it. It’s clear that J. J. Abrams had some IDEAS.
Also, I’ve never watched Lost, (and I never will, I put my foot down on that)  but I can confidently say this is the better J. J. Abrams show. The ending doesn’t make you ridiculously angry you watched the whole thing. So there’s that.
Honestly, there’s too much I love about this show. The whole alternate universe plotline for one, which creates some of my favorite moments. But it’s mainly about Peter and Walter. At its core, this stupid show is about their father son relationship, and how far people are willing to go  to protect their family. Which is weird, but also perfect.
Before the mental institution, Walter was a little bit of a sociopath, pursuing scientific enhancements, consequences be damned. He was a shit person. He ran tests on children, he fucked with the fabric of the universe. No fucks given, that man. But the Walter we get for most of the show is just…oddly charming. Quirky in his brilliance, instead of calculating. And it’s FUNNY and endearing.
Olivia brings in another agent to help corral Walter in his resurrected lab beneath Harvard, Astrid, and he spends most of the series calling her anything but. “Astro”, “Astrix”, etc. It’s not malicious, he just can’t hold the information, as much as he appreciates the work she does with him. Like, how does that turn out to just be kind of cute?
Some of my favorite made-up words are from Walter.  “Vagenda”, for one. Which is ‘vagina agenda’ obviously. As in, “Peter fell for her vagenda”, which had me rolling. Even if it came about during a storyline that made me absolutely FURIOUS, but in the best of ways. (There was a lot of time wherein I was yelling at my husband about how much I hated “Fauxlivia” and her vagenda, but honestly I don’t want to spoil it because the twists and turns this show takes are so wonderful, they should be experienced with absolutely no background.)
The whole thing with Walter is that he’s atoning for the sins of his past, even if he doesn’t really realize it at first, and it’s just, really comforting. His entire arc is compelling and satisfying, even if it leaves you a crying mess.
Also, Peter Bishop is forever my perfect New England boyfriend. At first I’m not sure who they wanted him to be exactly, but eventually he smoothed out into just an earnest, genius, gorgeous man trying to do the right thing and get past all of the hurt Walter caused him. They put him in devastatingly handsome peacoats and he saves the day and he’s sweet to Olivia and I just spend most of the time swooning. That smile, gang.
Is it because I fell in love with Pacey Witter as a young girl during Dawson’s Creek’s heyday? 98% yes. I will always love Joshua Jackson and Pacey was done dirty for a while. And come to think of it, Peter was too. It’s his thing, apparently.
I do  realize Olivia is supposed to be the main character probably, but she gets me to my two favorite guys so I guess she’s fine. Anna Torv is wonderful, she plays Dunham really well (which I imagine was grueling given some of the storylines) but the Bishops are the stars of the show. I just want to squeeze both of them.
The crazy thing is there are some episodes that will destroy you emotionally. The white tulip? Jesus. That one just came up in my rewatch, and it was still a punch in the face the second time. There’s one where Walter gets lost in Chinatown, I had to literally mute it because it’s gut wrenching. Even with the silliness and the science that makes you roll your eyes, they make you look at things you don’t want to, and it can hurt. I love/hate that so much.
And look, I understand that the moral of the show is that science and technology can be dangerous and we shouldn’t let it get away from us because it could eventually cause the downfall of everything, but that’s not what I’m here for. I’m always here for the relationships. And the ridiculous ways we can get people to die. And the outlandish scifi. If you wanna remind me of things that I don’t want to think about in between that, I guess it’s okay, because it makes no sense, but when I think of Fringe, it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy. It’s not a warm and fuzzy show, but it is for me.
I started watching it because it was a complete series that had a purposeful ending and I needed something, but it turned into a lot more than that. I’m jealous of people who can see it for the first time. It’s just so…special. In weird and wonderful ways. There will never be another character quite like Walter Bishop. Or a truly realized tv universe as outlandish. They swung for the fences, and it really landed; vagenda, the observers, Walternate, and all.
Let Walter charm the shit out of you, you won’t be disappointed.

Here we go again, we're changing the scene.
Script below the break.
Hello and welcome back to The Rewatch Rewind! My name is Jane and this is the podcast where I count down my top 40 most frequently rewatched movies in a 20-year period. Today I will be discussing number six on my list: Shipwrecked Comedy and American Black Market’s 2017 film noir parody The Case of the Gilded Lily, directed by William J. Stribling, written by Sean Persaud and Sinéad Persaud, and starring Sean Persaud, Sinéad Persaud, Sarah Grace Hart, and Mary Kate Wiles.
It's 1939 in Los Angeles. Hardboiled private eye Ford Phillips (Sean Persaud) doesn’t touch Hollywood cases, until junior ace reporter Fig Wineshine (Sinéad Persaud) convinces him to help her childhood friend, starlet Wilhelmina Vanderjetski (Sarah Grace Hart) find out who is blackmailing her.
In my episode about Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Dinner Party, which was number 13 on this list, I discussed how I found and fell in love with the work of Shipwrecked Comedy. If you haven’t listened to or don’t remember that episode, to summarize, I had incredibly high expectations for Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Dinner Party, aka Poe Party, that were exceeded in every possible way, and in joining this small but enthusiastic fandom, I finally felt that I had found my people. I was very excited to learn what Shipwrecked’s next project would be, and I didn’t have long to wait. On May 30, 2017, just under seven months after the Poe Party finale, they shared a teaser poster for The Case of the Gilded Lily, which showed silhouettes of the Core Four (Sarah Grace Hart, Sinéad Persaud, Sean Persaud, and Mary Kate Wiles) in a style consistent with film noir. Since one of my favorite things about Poe Party had been the way it reminded me of classic movies, I was ecstatic to see them leaning even more directly into Old Hollywood.
The Kickstarter campaign launched a week later. Unlike Poe Party, which was an 11-episode series, Gilded Lily would be a short film, and they were only asking for $25,000. It didn’t even occur to me to be disappointed that this was going to be so much smaller; I was just excited that Shipwrecked was making another project so soon. In some ways, this Kickstarter experience was similar to the Poe Party one – the fun livestreams with backers’ names on the wall, the character reveals when milestones were reached – but in others, it was very different. For one thing, I had by this point met Shipwrecked and gotten to know many of their other fans, so instead of interacting with a bunch of pleasant strangers, these livestreams felt more like hanging out with friends. And for another, they reached their goal in less than a week, whereas Poe Party had taken almost a month, so it felt a lot less stressful, at least from a will-this-get-to-exist? perspective. They set a few stretch goals and ended up raising just over $43,000 by the time the campaign ended on June 25. I pledged a bit more to this project than I had to Poe Party, partly because I felt like I owed them for how much Poe Party had already changed my life, but also of course because of how thrilled I was that they were making something else that was related to my interests.
The main reason they were making Gilded Lily right then was because they had been invited to premiere a new project at Buffer Festival in Toronto, where they had screened all of Poe Party the year before when only the first 9 episodes were up on YouTube. I would have loved to have gone, both to see Poe Party and to see Gilded Lily, but it didn’t work out. However, Kickstarter backers at the $25 level and up would get access to watch The Case of the Gilded Lily soon after Buffer, before it was posted publicly, and that was good enough for me. Buffer Festival was only about three months after the Kickstarter ended, so Shipwrecked had a ridiculously short period of time to complete this video that they had originally intended to be about 20 minutes long but ended up with a runtime nearly twice that. I still don’t understand how they did it. I know, from talking to members of Shipwrecked at the time and from behind-the-scenes content they’ve released, that they were incredibly stressed about things like finding and locking locations, a cast member having to drop out last minute, and, of course, the budget, but still, they managed it. They successfully premiered their 38-minute long “short” film at Buffer Festival 2017 and emailed a link to backers a couple weeks later, on October 12.
I had a lot of trouble setting my expectations for The Case of the Gilded Lily. This group had just made Poe Party, so I knew they were capable of greatness, but I also knew I had no right to expect this to be on the same level as that, since it was always intended to be a much smaller project. I was sure I was going to enjoy it, but I was very curious to see how much. The first thing that struck me after I clicked the early access link was the music. The soundtrack was composed by Dylan Glatthorn, who had also composed the Poe Party soundtrack, which I absolutely should have mentioned in that episode because it is incredible. But the Gilded Lily soundtrack is somehow even better. Shipwrecked had released a video of a song from the short called “A Change of Scene” in September, written by Glatthorn and performed by Mary Kate Wiles as lounge singer Vivian Nightingale (a name that had been mentioned in Poe Party), so I already knew that was a bop, but it didn’t prepare me for how hard the opening credits music would slap. The theme is so delightfully jazzy that even after nearly six years, I can’t sit still when I hear it. That music over the black and white shots of the Hollywoodland sign and palm trees was the perfect way to set the scene. And then the opening credits finished and the film itself began.
So here’s the thing about film noir. In general, I enjoy it: I think it’s a fascinating filmmaking style and a very effective technique to tell a certain type of story, and two of my other top 40 most frequently rewatched films – Notorious and Gaslight – are fairly noir-esque, but also, film noir can get very dark. Every November, along with many film lovers on the internet, I celebrate Noirvember, a time to watch and appreciate film noir. In 2015, I actually managed to watch 30 noirs in Noirvember, and by the end of the month I noticed that it was really getting to me. I was starting to feel a constant vague sense of unease, dread, and despair. So in every November since then I’ve forced myself to consume noirs somewhat more moderately. I must have known that Gilded Lily was going to be more of a parody and not like one of the darker noirs. The group was called Shipwrecked Comedy, after all. But even Poe Party had had some pretty dark moments. I’m sure I expected jokes in The Case of the Gilded Lily, but I was utterly floored by just how laugh-out-loud funny the whole darn film was. It wasn’t dark at all, at least compared to most noirs or even to Poe Party. There wasn’t even any murder! The first time I watched it, I must have missed at least half the jokes because I was still laughing at prior gags. The plot was just as complicated and twisty as most noirs, but that first time I was barely paying attention because, again, too much laughing. Therefore, once I finished it, I naturally had to immediately rewatch it several times to pick up on the jokes and plot points I’d missed, and I was delighted but not at all surprised to find that it held up very well. I don’t recall exactly how many times I’d seen it before the link was made public on December 11, but by the end of 2017 I’d watched it nine times. I then watched it four times in 2018, six times in 2019, five times in 2020, three times in 2021, and four times in 2022. And I still think the jokes are funny. So if you haven’t watched it, you absolutely should, it’s still available for free on YouTube (link in the show notes) and it’s like the length of one episode of a TV show.
There are so many different types of humor in this film, and all of them are great. There’s the whole playing with and making fun of noir tropes aspect, including several instances of characters interrupting each other’s voiceovers, a camera rotation into a Dutch angle causing Ford to fall over, and Wilhelmina trying to smoke and drink to fit in but not quite understanding the concept. That last one serves the dual purpose of making fun of the excessive smoking and drinking common in noirs and further developing one of my favorite types of character: the confidently clueless. The Case of the Gilded Lily has two of these: Wilhelmina Vanderjetski, the starlet who’s being blackmailed, played by Sarah Grace Hart, and Dash Gunfire, Ford’s rival private eye, played by Joey Richter. Wilhelmina’s cluelessness mostly makes her happy and charming, whereas Dash’s makes him frustrated and annoying, and it’s very entertaining to see two such similar yet very different characters in the same project. Basically everything either of them says or does makes me laugh. There’s also some great physical comedy, mainly from Clayton Farris as the disgruntled Buster Keaton. Similarly, there’s humor with the set and props, like when Cliff Calloway (played by Tom DeTrinis) switches between smoking a cigar and a cigarette in the same scene depending on who he’s talking to, and when Officer Claudette Knickerbocker (played by Joanna Sotomura) is talking to Ford on the phone about how hot she finds Cliff, and it cuts away to Ford putting down the phone and pouring himself a drink and when we see Claudette again her office is in complete disarray. And then there are all the hilarious running gags. Like how whenever someone brings up that Wilhelmina’s real name is Lily THomas, Ford has to argue that it should be pronounced Thomas. And how every time the scene changes after Vivian sings “A Change of Scene” the first time, there’s a little reprise of her singing about how we’re changing the scene. And the way Fig is obsessed with cookies and keeps getting them – I am truly in awe of Sinéad Persaud’s brilliance in writing a character for herself that required her to eat lots of cookies. What an iconic move. And then there’s the running bit where Ford will pause and stare into the distance dramatically before mentioning The War, much to Fig’s confusion, until it’s finally revealed that The War was a movie he and Claudette acted in when they were children. Another running bit is the bartender Bixby Crane (played by Dante Swain) repeatedly saying his own name unnecessarily, and taking things very literally in unexpected ways. This bit was particularly funny to me because my high school band director’s name was Parker Bixby, and when we marched in the Tournament of Roses parade, one of the announcers commented, “I want to change my name to Parker Bixby.” Later somebody put that on t-shirts and Mr. Bixby ended up with one. So seeing a character named Bixby who was obsessed with his own name made me laugh even harder than it would have if they’d picked any other name for that character.
Like in Poe Party, the actors in The Case of the Gilded Lily were encouraged to play around, at least as much as their limited production time would allow, which once again resulted in an excellent blooper reel, and also some great moments in the film. One of the best is when Wilhelmina’s husband, producer Roger Haircremé, played by Gabe Greenspan, comes into the lobby from the Sufferin’ Safari premiere and says, “Sweetheart, it’s nearly giraffe time!” which was improvised. Also, major shout out to the Persauds for their incredible character names, and also to Gabe Greenspan, who filled in last minute when the original Roger had to drop out of the project. It’s kind of mind boggling that this was the first time Gabe worked with Shipwrecked and that he almost wasn’t even in this, since it’s hard to imagine their more recent projects without him. Another unscripted moment that I love is when Vivian is telling Fig about an underground gambling ring and says that they meet on Wednesday nights, adding, “Tonight. And next Wednesday. And the Wednesday after that…” That last part wasn’t in the script, but they brought it back again when Fig passes this information on to Claudette, saying, “Vivian only knew they meet tonight. And then next week. And the week after that. Basically, it’s a weekly thing.” And Joanna, not really knowing how to respond to that, just had Claudette go, “Oh, okay” and move on with her lines, and for some reason that just really tickles me.
I think the thing I appreciated the most about The Case of the Gilded Lily, once I stopped laughing long enough to analyze it, was that it felt like a typical Shipwrecked project while also feeling completely different from what they’d done before. The sense of humor felt the same as Poe Party, even though the Gilded Lily gags tended to be on the sillier side. The story was just as well thought out as Poe Party’s, but while Poe Party was being released I was constantly trying to figure out who the murderer was, whereas with Gilded Lily I didn’t even attempt to guess who the blackmailer was, I was too busy laughing. Also, being a short film rather than a series released over 11 weeks, there was much less time for speculation. Of course, the overlapping cast made the projects feel similar, and I particularly enjoyed seeing Ryan W. Garcia, who had played Eddie in Poe Party, show up as an extra in about half the Gilded Lily scenes. This ultimately inspired me to write a rather long and intense fan fiction tying a bunch of Shipwrecked projects together with the time traveling ghost of Eddie. Tom DeTrinis’s Cliff Calloway seemed about what you’d expect if Oscar Wilde was trying to pretend to be a straight film star. Joey Richter’s Dash Gunfire was similar to his Ernest Hemingway in that both were rivals with Sean’s character, although Dash is way sillier.
And then there’s the Core Four. Sean and Sinéad’s characters and dynamic were very similar in A Tell-Tale Vlog, Poe Party, and Gilded Lily: both Poe and Ford are loners who secretly desire friends, and both Lenore and Fig are outgoing and talkative and enjoy winding up Sean’s character, who begrudgingly appreciates them despite his best efforts to abhor them. But of course, they are unquestionably different characters, and I think they both did an excellent job of adjusting their mannerisms to make them feel distinct. Mary Kate and Sarah’s characters, on the other hand, are essentially the complete opposite of what they played in Poe Party. Annabel was sweet and naïve and wanted everyone to be happy, whereas Vivian is bitter and jaded and having affairs with four different men in five different states (another great line) and doesn’t seem to care about anyone besides herself. Going straight from an ingenue to a femme fatale and absolutely nailing both was an excellent way for Mary Kate Wiles to demonstrate her incredible acting range. I’d already been a huge fan of her work for over five years at that point, and I was still blown away. Vivian doesn’t even get that much screentime, but gah, what MK does with her voice, like, just, close your eyes and listen to Annabel and then listen to Vivian, you can’t even tell they’re the same person. I feel like this also helps distinguish Edgar and Ford from each other. It’s a running theme in most Shipwrecked projects that Sean’s character is super into Mary Kate’s character, although they rarely end up together, and I can’t really explain why, but I don’t feel like Poe would be particularly into Vivian, nor would Ford be interested in Annabel. But I could be wrong about that, I don’t really understand how sexual or romantic attraction works. Anyway, all that being said, if I had to pick one single favorite aspect of The Case of the Gilded Lily, it would have to be Sarah Grace Hart as Wilhelmina Vanderjetski, mostly because she is absolutely hilarious, but also because she is so different from Emily Dickinson in Poe Party. Emily is forgotten by everyone the second after she introduces herself, whereas Wilhelmina is one of the most famous stars in Hollywood. Emily seems to know what’s going on, and I have a theory that she could have figured out the whole thing if people would have just listened to her, whereas Wilhelmina, bless her, is paying blackmail while also telling everyone what she’s being blackmailed for. Also it’s literally just… having a stage name. Not really something worth paying $20,000 per week to keep secret, especially if you’re just going to tell everyone anyway. But Sarah commits to this character so hard that you never once doubt that Willie would absolutely fall prey to this ridiculous scheme. She’s so earnestly oblivious in the most endearing and hilarious way that she’s probably my favorite Shipwrecked character, and possibly my favorite character in anything ever.
What I didn’t know at the time was that originally, Shipwrecked had planned to follow Poe Party with a whole series featuring these characters, but when they got invited to Buffer they knew they wouldn’t have time for all that, so they made The Case of the Gilded Lily as kind of a pilot for the Fig and Ford series. They did make it clear that they had at least some intentions of continuing the story, with a question mark appearing after “The End” and a quick post-credits scene with Vivian bursting into Fig and Ford’s office and saying, “Mr. Phillips, something terrible has happened!” After years with no word of what this could be leading to, I had almost given up hope of more from this world, and then, in 2022, Shipwrecked launched a Kickstarter for an audio narrative called The Case of the Greater Gatsby, currently coming out weekly on all major podcast platforms, and we’re finally getting more, and it is so delightful. Once again, I don’t feel like I’m doing a very good job of trying to figure out what’s going on, but I am living for the jokes.
Classic film noir tended to be relatively sexually explicit for its time – at least, as much as it was allowed to be under production codes. In particular, the male protagonist was often led astray by his attraction to the sexy but dangerous femme fatale. The Persauds had said that they were inspired by Who Framed Roger Rabbit, another noir parody, which turns these sexy expectations around with a femme fatale type character who is, if not overtly asexual, certainly ace-coded – she’s married to a rabbit, and when asked what the attraction is, she says, and I quote, “He makes me laugh.” The Case of the Gilded Lily finds a different way to put a twist on the femme fatale trope with Vivian Nightingale, who is certainly not ace-coded, but also doesn’t seem to be particularly dangerous – at least in the Gilded Lily plot, I don’t know where Greater Gatsby is going yet. Vivian is a possible suspect, and Ford is very attracted to her, but she’s innocent and nothing bad really comes of her involvement in this story. She has an attitude of, “I have no clue how I got mixed up with you clowns, but I’ll be fabulous while I’m here" that you have to admire. Really the only romance in The Case of the Gilded Lily is the one between Wilhelmina Vanderjetski and Roger Haircremé, and that one is… questionable, to put it mildly. For one thing, Willie lied to Roger about her background to get him to marry her. For another, Roger saw through her ridiculous story but pretended not to, instead blackmailing her to pay off his gambling debts. When Fig and Ford uncover this, instead of being furious with her husband, Wilhelmina is delighted that the blackmailer was just her kind, loving husband who’d never do anything to hurt her. Typically I’m very much in favor of forgiveness, but in this case I really don’t think Roger deserves it. In a way, this could be seen as illustrating the harms of amatonormativity, showing that Wilhelmina thinks staying with a blackmailer is preferable to having no husband, but it definitely comes across as her genuinely believing that Roger has done nothing wrong. It’s weird, but I love the way this shifts the noir trope of sexy-romance-gone-wrong to be about a couple who was married at the start and has no intention of getting divorced at the end, and involves a woman who bears zero resemblance to a typical femme fatale.
Like pretty much every other Shipwrecked project (besides Kissing in the Rain), The Case of the Gilded Lily is way more focused on platonic relationships than romantic or sexual ones. Even though the crime is related to Roger and Wilhelmina’s relationship, it’s solved mainly because of Fig’s friendship with Wilhelmina, Fig’s attempts to befriend Ford, and Ford’s friendship with Claudette. I didn’t know I was aroace when this came out, but I certainly appreciated all the non-romantic storylines. And I would argue that Gilded Lily does have at least one ace-coded character, although it’s not the one who reminds us of Jessica Rabbit: it’s Fig Wineshine. She wants to be friends with everyone but doesn’t show any signs of attraction to any of them. And she has this great line in Greater Gatsby when she’s describing how Cliff Calloway is a Hollywood heartthrob: “He didn't really do it for me. But then again he wasn't circular with crispy edges and a gooey middle.” She’s saying that her type is a literal cookie. There’s no allosexual explanation for that.
My main takeaway from The Case of the Gilded Lily back in 2017 was that Poe Party was not a fluke. I had truly stumbled upon an underappreciated group of talented, hardworking geniuses when I found Shipwrecked Comedy, and I was going to keep following and supporting their work from then on no matter what. And I have never regretted doing that for a second. Most of the projects they’ve made in the years since The Case of the Gilded Lily have been too short to count as movies, but they have all been incredibly delightful. I would highly recommend everything on their YouTube channel, in addition to the Greater Gatsby podcast they’re currently releasing, especially if you enjoy Old Hollywood; I am thoroughly enjoying all the references to actual movies and actors that I love by the fictional characters from the world of Fig and Ford that I also love. Shipwrecked keeps telling the exact stories I want to see and hear, and I cannot even begin to adequately express how much joy they have brought to my life. I truly hope everyone out there has found or will find a group of artists whose work means as much to them as Shipwrecked’s does to me.
Thank you for listening to me discuss another of my most frequently rewatched movies. Next week I will enter my top 5 with the oldest movie on this list, which I also watched 31 times. As always, I will leave you with a quote from that next movie: “Always remember that the truth has never hurt any man! …And anyway, if it does, I’ll go to the hospital with you.”

I got a few ships for the ask game: Gwikki, Jeia, and Beric.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Yay!
Gwikki
when I started shipping it if I did: I remember getting dan/blair vibes on a rewatch and them tumblr and tiktok left me obsessed.
my thoughts: My perfect babies! I need them to be canon <3
What makes me happy about them: Their chemistry, the J/H parallels, how genuinely happy and comfortable they are around each other.
What makes me sad about them: Post Step by Step, there was less interaction :(
things done in fanfic that annoys me: There isn't much gwikki fic and in the fics that are there, they hit all the spots lol. But I wouldn't want to read a gwikki fic with n*ia there.
things I look for in fanfic: good writing, good arcs, and just them being together. Also jeia as a side pairing lol.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Gwen with Leia and Nikki being independent or with Sharkayla but she reminds me of Robin from himym, where she'd be super focused on her career.
My happily ever after for them: Them being married and getting the hell out of Point Place (which they do!)
who is the big spoon/little spoon: Most of the time, Gwen is the little spoon and Nikki is the big spoon but they take turns.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Watching tv and debating the shows
Jeia
when I started shipping it if I did: Lip Smackers
my thoughts: Cutest couple on T9S
What makes me happy about them: How Jay genuinely cares for Leia and protects her, how Leia sees Jay beyond his player rep.
What makes me sad about them: That the writers might ruin them in s2 and have n*ia be canon. Also Lindsey what's-her-face reducing jeia to lust.
things done in fanfic that annoys me: There was this one jeia fic (from a writer I love, don't get me wrong) where the gang was pushing Leia to lose her virginity so she doesn't make them look like virgins. Which was in very poor taste imo and there's nothing wrong with being a virgin lol.
things I look for in fanfic: Good writing, them being endgame, and gwikki being paired up as well.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Leia with Gwen and Jay with Nate.
My happily ever after for them: Them being married and having kids (which they do!)
who is the big spoon/little spoon: Jay is the big spoon and Leia is the little spoon.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Cuddling and watching tv.
Beric
when I started shipping it if I did: Going onto tumblr made me appreciate them more <3
my thoughts: Cutie pies! Dated in s4 as far as I'm concerned <3
What makes me happy about them: Eric being able to just be himself with Buddy and how Buddy appreciates him <3
What makes me sad about them: That they didn't date in canon s4
things done in fanfic that annoys me: At this point, you know how I feel w character bashing. But even with that, I won't care TOO much because my babies <3
things I look for in fanfic: good writing, cuteness, and a happy ending.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Eric with Donna, Connie, or Mitch, Buddy with Fez (his early self) or just some sweet guy who makes him happy.
My happily ever after for them: Them being happily married and raising Leia with Burkciotti
who is the big spoon/little spoon: Eric is the little spoon and Buddy the big. But once in a while, it's vice versa.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Cuddles, tickling, watching tv, and just hanging out.

My thoughts on the new Sonic Prime clip, along with Prime!Tails as a whole.
(Before we start, I'll be refering to the Tails from the first shatterverse as 'Prime!Tails' and Modern Tails as 'Tails'. Just because I don't think theres a general consensus yet, and we haven't seen much of the other shatterverses as of posting.)
Okay! Now for the actual meat of this! First, I'll talk about the more practical side of things.
I have to start by saying that I LOVE how expressive their new models are, along with how they're used. Even with the BOOM cartoon (which I love, by the way) they were never this fluid and expressive. And do I even need to mention it in comparision to the games? Like, I love that they tried more in Frontiers with the faces, but this is leauges above it. Even the ears move! The ears!
With the pixel art animation, I do have to admit some bits seemed a bit janky, expecially Sonic's sprite. HOWEVER, the shot of Prime!Tails at his workbench was absoloutley gourgeous in my opinion. And my opinion is always correct. /j
The voices definitely take getting used to, but I've already warmed up to Prime!Tails' Ashleigh Ball within a few rewatches of this clip. Something about his more mature and... depressing voice and direction is so fitting for this itteration of the character; though I do wonder how it will feel with other shatterverse versions of him.
Prime!Sonic, however? I don't know, he's just... different. Not better, not worse, just a change I've got to get used to. I joined this fandom in the Roger Craig Smith era, and even going back to Sonic Adventure threw me off with the voice of Ryan Drummond. So it'll take me time to get a feel for Deven Mack, but I've got my hopes up that he'll be a great Sonic!
Okay, more story based stuff now! Before I gush, I need to get one nitpick out of the way that made me want to bite the writers ankles. THE TORNADO IS SONIC'S PLANE, NOT TAILS'. I'm willing to accept this as an alternate fact of the Prime universe, but it's such a weird discrepancy to have? Maybe he was just making it sound cooler for the poor guy. In which case, fair enough Prime!Sonic, fair enough.
I've always loved the dynamic between Sonic and Tails, but this clip is making the reason why even clearer to me. Sonic, for Tails, represents loved ones who support you and your disability. I'll be using this as an autism allegory, since that's my experience.
If you find the right people, and they are out there, they can help you experience the postitives of your disability even through all of the pain it's brought to you. For Tails, it's his bullying and the power of flight. For me, it's my alienation and heightened connection to things I love. Tails had Sonic, and I had my autstic friends, and autistic partner.
But Prime!Tails had no connection. He had no Sonic. He's spent a life with no support network to help him through this, and to bring out the best in him. All he's had is a cold, ablist world, one that broke him down for years until he snapped. Until everybodies lack of passion took the spark he had left. Until he fought back with violence and anger, a face pained like no eight year old's should ever be.
They're two sides of the same coin, and from the start, the same person. Whether there was people around him who loved him and accepted him was all that stopped him Tails from tearing himself apart all those years ago. He could have been Prime!Tails with different circumstances, and vica virsa.
It makes me wonder, though. With the different shatterverses, will his mental state change too? There's no reason to believe that the others are as cold and heartless as the first, so perhaps he was able to find his place in the world, even without Prime!Sonic. I think that would be important to show; there isn't one set person who is the saving grace, it's a series of people, a series of actions, an entire enviroment.
There's been a lot of thoughts in my head about this so I might be forgetting some, I'll reblog with extra if I remember anything. TLDR? This clip was fucking incredible.

Stargate rewatch: 1x15 Cor-ai
Tumblr media
Society of many hats! I love a society of many hats.
This world is interesting because the population are not enslaved by the Goa'uld, rather it's regularly raided for hosts. The implication being it's not under the dominion of any particular system lord, but set aside for the purpose of harvesting hosts by multiple Goa’uld - perhaps Kendra's planet was the same?
The language is a Latin and Greek derivation - likely that this society was originally founded by the Ancients?
This episode was written by Tom J Aste, and while it was his only Stargate effort, he would go on to write screenplays for the Get Smart remake, romcom Failure to Launch, and animated films Epic and Home.
Also notable as the final SG-1 episode directed by Mario Azzopardi, who loves nothing more than an overhead shot like the above.
Hanno is played by David McNally who will show up again in different roles later on, including on Atlantis. I think this is his best.
Tumblr media
Pretty impressive that Teal’c can actually remember killing Hanno’s father just by seeing his crutch - it happened at least ten years prior to the episode if not more, which implies it stuck with Teal’c.
“Only the person who has suffered understands the pain that has been inflicted. Who else could fairly say what the punishment must be?” I like the cultural differences explored in this episode. This viewpoint is anathema to Jack when the person being judged is his friend, although it’s one that he has more sympathy with when he’s the one upon whom the suffering has been inflicted.
“What I did while serving Apophis I will not hide from.” I wouldn't describe Teal'c as having a redemption arc in the show, but like Xena the cornerstone of his character is seeking to right the terrible wrongs he committed prior to the show. This underscores everything Teal'c does, and the character arc comes not from him seeking forgiveness or redemption, but rather a commitment to serve a greater good, although that is sometimes (as we'll see in later seasons) at odds with his personal desire for revenge.
This is something not only Teal’c will struggle with, but Jack and Daniel as well. Put a pin in this concept, we’ll revisit it later.
Tumblr media
This is a great episode not only for Teal’c, but for Jack as well. He projects a little on Teal’c given his own past in black ops, but we understand his pov in adhering to the chain of command and seeing Teal’c as the man he is now and not the man he once was. We also appreciate Teal’c’s perspective that he has victims in his past and those deeds aren’t washed away by the good he does now, and isn’t going to try and avoid retribution if it is demanded of him.
This is reflected ten years down the line in one of my favourite Teal’c moments of the entire show, when in Arc of Truth he tells Tomin: “Nothing I have done since turning against the Goa’uld will make up for the atrocities I once committed in their name…You will never forgive yourself. Accept it…Fight for others that may be saved through your effort. That is the least you can do.”
The least Teal’c can do, or at least he feels he can do in this episode, is refuse to run and accept whatever punishment Hanno decrees. The least Jack can do is everything in his power to prevent that from happening. We don’t often see Jack and Teal’c at odds, this is a fantastic scene.
Both RDA and Teal’c brought their A game this episode.
Tumblr media
“Yeah, Teal’c helped kidnap my wife but totes feels bad about it now” is hardly the sterling defence Daniel and Jack seem to think it is.
“It was difficult for me at first, I wanted to hate him.” Huh, you wouldn’t know it from the second episode.
We get another insight from Arc of Truth reflected back here: “Others may try to convince you that they have forgiven you. That is more about them than you.” How much of Daniel forgiving Teal’c is necessity and how much is true friendship? The former that merges into the later as time goes on, but I wonder if a part of Daniel’s friendship, at this point, is predicated on Teal’c helping him in the search for Sha’re. He explicitly says he knows that Teal’c would do anything, even give up his own life, to help save her.
The dramatic irony apparent only on rewatch is that while it’s certainly true Teal’c would give up his own life for Sha’re’s, he’s not willing to give up Daniel’s life. And while Daniel does eventually forgive Teal’c for that too, it’s also true that forgiveness is more about Daniel than Teal’c.
Tumblr media
This character is credited only as Byrsa Woman, but I really enjoy her, there’s a sweet fragility that underscores the precarious lives of the Byrsa. The actress is Tabitha St Germsin aka the voice of Rarity from My Little Pony!
Again I like the differing perspectives on justice and justification - for SG-1 Teal’c’s choice to kill Hanno’s father is mitigating, to kill one to save the rest, and kill the injured so during the next raid they all might get away. But for the Byrsa, who would not leave anyone behind when they flee, it’s even worse because he chose to kill the weakest and most helpless. Teal'c's morality revolves around doing the least evil and the greatest good, while for the Byrsa it's all or nothing - "we all go, or none of us do."
Hammond: “The United States is not in the business of interfering in other people’s affairs” Jack: 🤨 Sam: 🤨 Jack: “Since when, sir?” Iconic! Evergreen.
What is Teal’c’s legal status anyway? Refugee? Does he get a salary? Hammond does make a good point that Teal’c is essentially a war criminal, however hypocritical that stance in the grand tradition of Operation Paperclip.
All of this upright moral standing will be forgotten by the time of Stargate Atlantis when they’re war criming all over the Pegasus galaxy. Hell, it won’t even last until next season when the SGC (save our team) is hell bent exploiting indigenous land rights.
“I have spent a lot of years in the service of my country, and I have been ordered to do some damn distasteful things. I will not allow them to execute my friend.” I’m surprised this one got past the Airforce vett! Jack once again identifying with/projecting onto Teal’c.
Our old friend Shak’l from The Nox leads Apophis’s raiding party. What exactly does he need new hosts for so soon?
Tumblr media
Hanno tells a young boy that if he dies, to inform those remaining he still wants the sentence carried out - this boy then hands the knife to Teal’c to cut his bonds. Was the boy swayed by the team’s arguments or did he just see it as the best option? A nice touch either way.
And Shak’l gets Shank'ed, then Teal’c yeets himself across the room to take out another Jaffa, getting shot in the process.
Teal’c apologises as he stabs Shak’l - a reminder that this was once his protege, someone who he would have preferred to convert, not kill, but while the Jaffa pose a threat to others he has to make the hard choice, the lesser evil, as he did when he killed Hanno’s father. Except this time it is truly his choice, his own free will according to his own morality.
Hanno spares Teal’c by the same logic the team proposed - that Teal’c is not the same man, a neat way to give deference to the argument, but also retain the Byrsa sense of justice. He doesn’t forgive Teal’c for killing his father, instead he reframes it that Teal’c killed the Jaffa who killed his father.
SG-1 offers their help, which Hanno accepts, and they become one of the many alliances relegated to offscreenville.
Tumblr media
Teal’c gets a shoulder pat!
Nicely played moment by Judge - relieved but overwhelmed, he does so much by doing so little.
This is an underrated episode! The first to really focus on Teal'c, and there's some great character development for him and his relationship with Jack and the team.

I was in a weird and oddly vulnerable mood yesterday, so instead of watching the three new episodes of the shows I was "supposed" to watch and risk feeling disappointed* by them, I rewatched the first To My Star. I think I wrote right after my first viewing that it would probably become one of my comfort shows, and apparently it has :-)
First of all, I think I loved it even more the second time. And it was better than I remembered. I still didn't think it was perfect, but parts that had seemed disjointed previously seemed more coherent this time, and I could see how much of the characters' arcs she was setting up from the very first moment.†
This was my first rewatch after seeing To My Star 2, and I'm amazed at how much of the groundwork for the sequel was already laid out in the first show. The two really feel like a coherent whole. I had previously decided that TMS2 was basically fanfic of the first one, and while I don't think that's wrong exactly, TMS is very clearly setting up everything that happens in TMS2. All of the character traits and issues that lead to the conflicts and struggles of TMS2 are already present in TMS, they merely become bigger and less ignorable.
Even little things that seemed like comedic throwaway moments or relatively minor scenes turn out to become major relationship issues or important plot points in the sequel: Things like Seo-joon teasing Ji-woo about not believing he'd been in a relationship before and Ji-woo being so closed-lipped about it, Seo-joon's attempts to smooth everything over with money, Ji-woo's dislike of accepting money from him, even Seo-joon's cooking video.
There were several lines of dialogue that are basically previews to some of the most significant conversations in TMS2. Ji-woo tells Seo-joon "You're not considerate of other's feelings and say what you want to say. I'm envious of it," which is a foreshadowing of what he says after the relief of finding that little girl is safe, just before their desperate kiss: ""How could you be so honest about everything? How can I ignore you now?"
And their fight just before Ji-woo moves out of the house (this is how he deals with conflict! He runs away!) is the basic conflict that permeates TMS2.
J: "Everything that happened between us... Thinking about it made me feel disgusted." S: "This doesn't make sense all of a sudden. There's something wrong, isn't there." J: "When I'm with you, I feel like I'll be put in danger."
Ji-woo misdirects and lies about his feelings, he gets overwhelmed by the bleed-through of Seo-joon's fame, he thinks he can protect Seo-joon by pulling away and leaving him. And Seo-joon knows something doesn't add up, but he can't figure out what. This is what starts the events of TMS2, and it foreshadows many of their conversations.
I don't think I realized how consistent the characters were between shows, or how similar the overall tone of the two shows was. I think the first time I saw TMS I was expecting a more traditional BL and that colored my perception. But upon rewatch, its style - it's treatment of the two main characters, the world around them, even the aesthetics - has a lot in common with TMS2. And I don't think it's just a Hwang Da-Seul thing, the To My Stars are much more similar to each other than they are to either Blueming or Where Your Eyes Linger. Now I'm curious if Hwang Da-seul had written them both together, or if she only thought of the sequel after the first one was a success. It's starting to feel as if they were conceived of as one unit.
Anyways, I could write a lot more words about all the threads and themes that carry through to TMS2, and perhaps I will, but not today.
*I did make myself start The Eclipse, but I felt so irrationally betrayed that the kiss was just a fantasy that I decided I wasn't in the right headspace and gave up for now after the first quarter. I have been loving all three of these high school shows so much, and I don't want them to do anything to make me stop loving them. This is one of my first experiences devoutly following a series week to week (and my very first experience reacting to it as part of a community), and I didn't realize how much I would bond to these shows. Usually I binge things and process it all immediately, and in my own head. Don't get me wrong, overall it's been a wonderful experience watching them this way, I just didn't want to push it yesterday and ruin things for myself.
† I had planned to enjoy TMS mindlessly, but apparently these days I'm incapable of watching something without writing out my thoughts on it.

please share your stranger things thoughts i’m curious 👀
okay but I am not going to tag this because I don't want people yelling at me! I am disagreeing with posts that have 5k+ notes so... I will put everything under the cut and still tag it as spoilers.
Fair warning! Stranger Things 4 spoilers below.
(Sorry it got long-ish, I have a lot of thoughts. I liked the season overall, btw. I know a lot of people are pissed about how it went but I'm not!)
The second - the second - that Mike told El he loves her, I was like oh shit. Here we go. That fandom collectively just imploded.
While I understand why people ship it - why wouldn't we want Will to get everything he's ever wanted? - I never thought it would actually happen because I saw no hints at all that Mike is queer.
I didn't feel either way about it happening, for context. If Mike/Will happened great, if not great. I'm not super attached to... probably any of the ships at this point, other than lumax. I've never really cared about Mike/El, at this point breaking up Nancy and Steve in season two feels like a mistake they are now trying to fix, I guess Joyce/Hopper is alright. My point is that I had no horse in this race.
Is Will queer? Obviously, and idk why people are mad that he didn't come out. Like what would that even look like? This is 1983-1986, remember. What community does Will have, as a queer person? What role models in his immediate, personal life? How do people around him talk about queerness? (A friend pointed out that they were also in the middle of the AIDS panic, which would have a major influence on how Will sees his own queerness, if he could even define it or label it in the first place!) I understand that there are fantastical elements to this story, obviously, but they are still living in our world, in our 1986.
It's super easy for people on tumblr to be like "just come out, just say you're gay!" but we have basically this whole website as support to do that, we can find communities online. When Robin "came out" she didn't actually say anything either? She just said "Steve" and gave him A Look until he figured it out. Call me crazy but these two characters can exist being queer without wearing their "I'm gay, ask me how" buttons to work/class every day.
So yeah I personally don't think there was any queerbaiting because, as a bisexual who has watched this show since the beginning and probably rewatches once a year, I am satisfied that Will is indeed queer and Mike is not and Robin is. I don't need a ship to happen, I guess, I just need the queer characters to actually be queer, and I think that Jonathan's talk with Will in the pizza place set that up perfectly to happen in the final season! Because now Will knows 100% that he can live his life, figure out who he is, and perhaps find someone to be with who is not his straight best friend. I don't think that anyone is arguing that Will isn't queer. (I keep using "queer" instead of "gay" because I did lowkey think he was aro/ace for a while, and he hasn't put a label on it. He's probably gay because that was some serious unrequited pining, but anyway.) We know he is! So are people mad that he and Mike aren't happening? Because ships aren't a guarantee. That particular ship not happening is not queerbaiting. It also reminds me of e*riels sorryyyyy I had to say it, it's just another example of making mountains out of molehills!
Like I said above, Will is obviously queer, and they have set him up to live his best queer life in the last season. I don't feel "baited" in the slightest.
(Side note, I don't pay attention really to interviews or articles or whatever is said outside the show itself. Much like any interview or event with Sarah J Maas, I don't rely on that event to tell me things that the show/book hasn't already told me.)
Now, Eddie. His death was sad, I cried both times (because I've watched the episode twice haha) but it did make sense, to me. He felt guilt for having left Chrissy behind, though obviously he couldn't have done anything about that. He couldn't have saved her, but like Max's guilt over Billy, that doesn't make him feel any better about how he responded to the situation. His death was not pointless? When he and Dustin went back to Hawkins, they would have ceased being a distraction for the bats. The second they leave, the bats would go back to the murder house, where Steve, Nancy, and Robin were trying to kill Vecna's body. They were supposed to be a distraction for a reason, they weren't just on a field trip to the Upside Down. So Eddie stopped, realized he was running again, and that doing so would actually in this case have been leaving other people in a lurch. (Now that I am writing this, I wonder if Steve had an influence on Eddie's decision to stay and fight. Something to think about.)
One more thing, but I also don't care that Vickie was kissing her boyfriend? The girl could be bi! Bisexuals exist y'all, and the fact that people are annoyed that a potentially bisexual woman was kissing her boyfriend,,,,... it just grosses me out tbh. Is Rickie their ship name, btw? So yeah, bisexual Molly Ringwald is gonna hopefully be a great girlfriend for Robin.
idk, some of the criticism I've seen just doesn't totally make sense when we still have another season coming. And when, like with Will, I feel like these things are going to continue/be resolved. I was watching something a while back and Oliver Stone was talking about the movie Wall Street, and how being a director means knowing that the viewer is absolutely going to misunderstand your intentions. I think there is a lot of that going on right now.
I liked this season. Some of the memes making fun of it had made me laugh. I'm not trying to be an active member of the fandom, I just have a lot of thoughts. (If this somehow gets outside of my usual fandom/followers, just FYI that I don't hesitate to block a bitch.)

OHOHOHO I HAVE RETURNED
Downton Abbey new era spoilers?
Anyways:
-i can't wait until the movie comes out on streaming services because I want gifsets of Branson in that gay little swimming suit
-denker's sobbing legit taking everyone's attention off of violet fucking DYING was unnecessarily funny
-seeing all the servants in the fancy clothes enjoying themselves on the film set was fantastic, they looked so happy. Jesus the horrible horrible wig they gave Thomas though, unfair, bad.
-Molesley proposing? 😩 Crying wailing hitting the ground. I think he wins the whole movie though. He's marrying the woman of his dreams and gets to live out his new talent while being payed handsomely
-cora's illness, what was the point? Had no effect other than we got to see Hugh's face actually show emotion
-bisexual daisy is a plotline that could've been explored. C'mon, she was starstruck with the actress and bisexual is a good look on her
-branson was kinda a chump but his wife was beautiful
-my mother mentioned that Mary and lady Grantham parallel each other, having had "scandalous" relationships in their past but ultimately being biting and respected.
-we CANNOT forget that Mary is awesome and cool and attractive and that people who know she's married fall for her regardless and her voice is SO AWESOME and yeah lol I don't hate her but cmon
-okay it's time for Thomas talk lol
I know that people were upset that they kinda booted Ellis by marrying him off, and that if Thomas can get swept by a movie star, they could've been together BUT we gotta remember that Ellis really isn't as out there as Thomas. Thomas does little to hide his identity other than to protect himself. The whole goddamn house knows hes gay. He follows a random handsome stranger he met in a bar to a gay club with little thought. He kisses a man AT NIGHT while he's SLEEPING cus he thought he was also gay; follows that same guy around a fair even though they're on bad terms. He melts at any perceived romantic touch, etc.
Ellis, on the other hand, is much much more careful. Spits vitriol at gay people in order to get Thomas out of prison, holds his identity very close to his heart, really only relenting when he gives Thomas the little thingy (I don't remember what it was sorry). It would make sense for him to marry a woman so as the KINGS VALET he could keep up identities.
So thus we start New Era with a clean slate, and characters reminding him left and right that it sucks™ to be gay. He's had experience after experience where being gay in England goes poorly, so when this handsome, rich, American actor goes "hey you're pretty want to be my boytoy, live in America (get out of England), and keep me company (😉)?" Of course he's gonna be like "hell yeah" and fuck me man good for him! He definitely had more chemistry with Ellis, but that was because they talked a lot more, about being gay especially. With Dexter it was much more implied, but still a great offer. So ultimately I am pleased with how Thomas's story turned out, though I would've loved some more screentime with him, more than just him going 😳 everytime guy Dexter talks to him.
Oh but what I wouldn't do to see a swimsuited Thomas Barrow lounging by a pool in California, goddamn.
There was also no Thomas smoking. So what, Cora gets a cancer scare but Thomas doesn't? What's up with that? /j
Anyways good movie. I liked the first one for it's rewatchability more, but overall they're both good and an extension of these silly British characters I adore so much.

👀😍🔥🌈 🎊🎉 🦄☔
RORO!! :D You got a lot of them little guys, just went down the aisle with your arm outstretched kjnvbksf Because of how I'm laying this out, it got pretty long, so below the cut you go!
👀 If you had to show someone a clip or episode to get them into the show, what would it be? - Totty Scrubbing his Ass with Clams /j But seriously, If it was like, a 6 second Vine type situation, I would show them the clip of Jyushimatsu "losing" his cowlick and Ichimatsu being completely calm before leaving screaming off-screen for help kjfbnsgb 😍 What’s a moment that made you fall in love with your favourite character? - The entirety of Jyushimatsu Falls in Love. Like,,, c'mon man I know that ones easy, but IM A SUCKER FOR LOVE,,, And honestly? Just the surrounding kindness he shows to everyone who's not his brothers. Like how he helped that kid (I can't remember his name for the life of me, I know #FakeFan please don't kill me) and then immediately punted him into space because he "outclassed" him. He's just a funny dude and I love funny dudes!!!
🔥 What’s an aspect of the show that you think is underrated - Mmm... Probably ongoing struggles of the side characters? Like, we've been shown time and time again that they're all struggling with adulthood while those lazy NEETs are still moochin' off their momma. I can't remember what episode it was, but when they did a small montage showing Iyami, Chibita, and Totoko struggling, that really hit a soft spot with me. I'd like to see more growth on that, like if there ever was a series finale, to show them all making it through despite the hardships life through at them.
🌈 What’s your favourite skit/episode to rewatch? - There's a lot that I like to re-watch, but I actually don't actively go to re-watch things! I was planning to re-watch the entirety of seasons 1 and 2 dubbed, but once I've watched things, it's sorta a one-and-done-deal. Sure I'll watch it again if it happens to be on, but I don't go looking it up. I think if it's things like super special interests, I'd watch it over and over!(Like the Final Destination series)
Didn't see a question for 🎊 so I'll skip it for now!
🎉 What do you like most in a skit? - How ridiculous it can get! And honestly, when one character is getting bullied. Is usually better when the bullied character slowly eases into it (The werewolf episode KILLED me).
🦄 What’s a rare interaction you’d like to see more of? - Honestly? More IchiOT3. I lowkey ship them and I want to see Ichimatsu establish a relationship with them, whether that be a friendship or romance is fine with me.
☔ Which episode/skit made you the saddest? - Probably S2EP24, with Osomatsu's and Totoko's talk. It was really surprising to see Osomatsu vent about his crisis to someone he considers a friend. His issues with seeing himself solely as the "Useless, Shitty Eldest" where he feels he can't be anything more or else he's not Osomatsu. They all got jobs in order to support their father's recovery, but even when they banded together to do that, it still felt so empty. I dunno, I feel for these boys a lot and I really want them to finally make that final push they need to make everything feel right.
Thank you so much Roro!! Now I'm crying in the club and actin' like a fool so if you excuse me

Genshin Diary Entry #10
I'm back! I just rewatched the last few cutscenes I played through last week and now im super revved up to get back into this.
So let me get the big one out of the way first: CYNO IS FINALLY HERE!! I was beginning to think he wasn't actually in the Archon quests, but I finally got to see him! Cyno was the one Sumeru character (except for Kaveh now) that I was super excited to meet. I love his design and from the context clues I got from fanart and such, he seemed like my kinda person to get into. The cutscene where he first shows up and attacks Alhaitham was really cool, I love seeing these characters actually fight and seeing what the worlds real physics are like :0
I was grinning and laughing so much from the start of the 'stuck in the same house together scene', just because I love drama and putting characters that hate each other into awkward situations. The girls were fighting!!! I also love Dehya so much, I don't even care if she's contractually obligated to show up in every arc for no reason, I love her and appreciate her for the hermbo representation she brings to the table. I'm really interested in Cyno now and how he's going to be involved, as well as his story. He seems so cool!! Or maybe I'm just gay, idk. I'm still not too keen on trusting Alhaitham, just because he's being very vague on what he's actually trying to do with the Divine Knowledge capsule. I believe that he isn't working for the Akadimiya, but it's also possible he's going to be a problem on his own.
This part of the quest is REALLY dialogue heavy, which I usually really like! But there was both a negative and positive to this particular set of scenes. Now, I'm a huge fan of the dialogue heavy 'living room' theatre genre, where character just sit and walk around one room while talking for a long time. However that's kinda difficult to pull of with the Genshin visual style and real-time animation. The whole scene felt really stiff and whenever the characters did move it felt janky and unnatural. I will say there were a few nice shots, especially the camera work that did good framing and the angles that really highlighted Cyno's glares and side eyes. Very effective lol.
On the other hand, the thing that did make this set work, was that pretty much everyone has good voice acting here. Alhaitham and Candace are fine, though I will say since I don't remember if I talked about this or not, but Alhaitham sounds nothing what I thought he'd be like. He's more emotive and even laughs! Fanartists are not doing him justice I'm afraid /j. I even liked Paimon's acting here! Actually cute and funny at times. <3 However, Dehya and Cyno are easily some of my favourites voice acting wise. I love Dehya of course, even if her delivery is cheesy at times, because it's exactly the kind of cheese I like. As for Cyno, I'm surprised that I'm not just hearing his actors voice! (especially after watching so many clips from his streams lmao) It's a testament to Alejandro's skill, his performance has real feeling and conviction to it.
I need to play more, now!!

(i love 86 /j) /j
spoilers: episodes 1-14 of 86
tw: if you’ve watched 86 you would know what’s in the show, I probably won’t go past talking about death but I won’t describe anything too in depth
━━━━━━━ ✤ ━━━━━━━
Tumblr media
Watched this in the span of two days lol It felt easier to write everything down after watching the episodes so I did that instead of blabbing as I watched ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
none of my thoughts make sense I apologize in advance for the fact that I cannot shut up <3 it’s also not proofread don’t murder me-
Episode 1 : Undertaker
I was kinda hooked immediately. I found the show from some random insta post that I’m really hoping I wont realize is a spoiler by the time I get to the episode the clip was from,,, The whole concept was laid out pretty quick, from this episode and the next. Obviously more things came into play and more was cleared up through the episodes but the simple concept was still relayed pretty well off the bat. The whole genre of this anime is something I really vibe with. My favorite genre is action and I feel like it plays a little into that plus mechs are always something I kinda gravitate towards, Pacific Rim is one of my favorite movies.
Episode 2 : Spearhead
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ not much to say, again I’m not going back to rewatch them so I don’t even remember much important from this episode oops
Episode 3 : I Don’t Wanna Die
Oh how I love angst. If you know me even the slightest and know what media I like, you’ll know I’m the biggest sucker for angst. Preferably some with a little bit of fluff to combat all the sad shit. But no. Not today. I think one of the things I enjoy about this show is that I don’t feel like any of the female characters are these pretentious stereotypical ones. While yes I understand anime girls have a certain personality that’s either “ooo look I’m the tiny girl with a high pitched voice” or the “I’m fucking badass and ill punch a baby” OR the “I’m not like other girls I have a life outside of school” but I enjoy the ones that break those common barriers and manage to actual interests me. I’ve definitely noticed I’m usually more drawn to fictional men and then actual people wise I’m more drawn to women… bUT the girls in 86 are refreshing to see amongst all the anime girl stereotypes. My whole point of explaining that is to say, I actually liked Kaie, which surprises me. Just by looking at her I was like “Oh I’m gonna hate her.” But by the end of the second episode I was like “eh she’s not that bad, I actually quite like her character.” A foolish decision on my part. Twas very distraught that they killed her off right off the bat too… I liked what she brought to the group. But I did enjoy the mood it set, introducing us to the fact that everyone dying wasn’t just something they made up. I also enjoyed how sudden and quick her death was… I know that sounds weird but once again it set the mood, reminded the viewers that it’s not like those hopefully situations where they build up to the death of a character. Nope ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ a few seconds to get across what’s about to happen then bam she’s gone… That shit gets me so excited, I really enjoy when shoes make me feel a shit tons of emotions and the intenseness(?) of 86 for sure does that.
Episode 4 : Real Name
I’m reading the desc on fuckin wikipedia just so I can get a refresher for these first 10 episodes lol n e wayz theo that mf gremlin, I like how everyone pesters him abt what he said, and when Shin tells Lena that Theo doesn’t speak for the rest of them was sweet. Gorlie was doing her best we love her for that. I think I should also mention, Lena’s my favorite character (as of the 10 episodes I’ve watched). I love her personality, gives me shonen protag vibes minus the annoyingness. She’s so determined yet she’s not making the determinedness her whole personality, it just fits in with the way she handles things and how it connects to her relationships. She doesn’t falter when it’s inappropriate, she’s not overly stubborn, she’s not afraid to show her emotions and to stand up for herself. She’s ruthless I like it.
Episode 5 : I’m With You
Ngl the ghost voice thing kind of feels out of place for me, it doesn’t fit for some reason… I have a feeling it’ll have a bigger impact later but as of now I’m just like bro do we rlly need that in the story, you wouldn’t have to change much of the plot if they left it out. Dunno, just don’t like that part but eh, gives me more angst!!
Episode 6 : Through to the End
Ah this episode hurt. Up until this episode I rlly liked Daiya. I told myself don’t get attached he’s probably gonna die, smart move becuz I was able to move on like a few minutes after he died and just me like “ah man I wanted him to live” rather that sobbing like I did in a later episode,,, I don’t remember her name ngl but that one girl dying also hurt, idfk who she is or who her character even was before this episode ngl bUt the way she died was kinda oof. All of the deaths are very sudden and you don’t have much time to think about what’s happening which just adds to the effect it has.
Episode 7 : Will You Remember Me?
Ngl this is the moment when I realized there were many flashback moments and redoing scenes just from the different points of view of the squad and Lena lol I was confused what came first a lot of time. I wish we had a few more moments with Anju and Daiya, it would make me feel a bit more sympathetic about the whole thing but all we really got was them always talking about Daiya’s crush. If they were given a lil moment, Anju upset over his death would have such a bigger impact. I got used to everybody dying at this point actually,,, I did 100% sob when they had the whole lil firework montage of everyone who died, it was oddly pretty but also hella depressing. Also the suicide mission part definitely made sense and was something that was kinda obvious from the beginning. I understand why Lena wouldn’t have grasped that though, knowing her position. Kinda sucks, you know they just threw her in that position on purpose, just to play a part in the Republic’s scheme (all the different names for the places and people confuse I’m just gonna how to the republic was the right way to label that for now lol).
Episode 8 : Let’s Go
Convinced this was just a filler to prepare us for the nonsense of the next episode-
Episode 9 : Goodbye
Shit was the least fun of all the episodes I hated it I was banging my fists on the table. It was an ending I was not expecting, very much so confused me. The closure with the brother was raw, intriguing, weird, oddly sweet??? idk but it was a nice conclusion to that bit. Plus LENA GOING HAM SHE WAS SO ANGRY WE STAN RLLY SAID FUCK THE RULE I DO WHAT I WANT! We love her, at least I do. I’m gonna be completely honest, I did not understand that they were just leaving the borders of their region or whatever, I thought those mfs were like going to their death for some shit why tf was Lena sobbing so hard. Ikik it’s becuz she didn’t wanna lose contact with them but still the way she was crying I thought they was dead until I got to the next episode and I was immediately straight faced like “ok so I cried all those tears for nothing???”
Episode 10 : Thank You
Another filler scree I want Lena back what’s the queen up to. Until further notice Shuga is the one I shall be attached to from the spearhead gang until he either dies or until we get Lena back hmph. The happiness of this episode so far does scare me… I’m just waiting for them to be laughing and shit and then a bomb just explodes underneath them or something,,, The lil montage thing had me dead and not in the laughing way, SHIT WAS SAD :(((
Episode 11 : Here We Go
I like how Shin keeps butting in trying to protect the gang despite damn well knowing they will just proceed to go help him. Dude foolishly throws himself into a fight and doesn’t think about the effect, including his friends going after him. LENA GETS TO KEEP THE CAT THO that made me very happy, the letter was so sweet too
Episodes 12 : Welcome
ngl this is the point when I’m getting bored, go back to the action and angst and random ass surprised,,, I don’t have a lot to say,,, Lena’s a handler for a new group I believe, spearhead was rescued and have a new home. This is basically just a time skip episode to show what’s happened over the time. Seeing Lena still with the cat (who’s name I think is Teppy?) was very cute.
Episode 13 : It’s Too Late
Shit yea I got it spoiled from the insta post- They’re all having fun with their own lol lives tho it’s kinda cute, IK IT’LL BE RUINED EVENTUALLY THO :D Shuga’s so sweet I loaf he, man’s speaks his mind and doesn’t have any shame in explaining his boundaries. Also Theo’s taller than I thought- I don’t know his name, but the dude who took them all into his care, I think he’s very thoughtful, a little forceful, but I think he’s got the right idea. The little girl, Frederica, she doesn’t have the impact that I think they want her to have… idk she just feels like a b-plot that I’m not all too interested in. That aside, at first, I thought them going back to fight was strange. Why would you wanna go back to something you worked to hard to escape? I’m realizing though that it makes a little sense. They’re very used to having a lot to do. They have so many things to fight for I guess. They have to avenge their fallen comrades and as long as the Legion is still fighting, they‘ll always want to fight. I like that rather than just throwing them into a happy life and calling it a day.
Episode 14 : Glad to Be Here
FIDO MY BELOVED that damn robot it’s literally a puppy that was so cute. That’s the only takeaway from the episode thank you.
jk anyways yea there was the spoiler I got, Eugene be dead fr,,, aND RIGHT AFTER THE THING ABT HIS SISTER YALL R SO HARSH- That’s what I like about this show though, everything’s so sudden lol there’s no room for lighthearted moments because in two seconds someones prolly gonna die. I gotta say the fact that we didn’t get too much time to know Eugene was oddly nice, I didn’t have time to get attached to a character before they killed them off. Right, it still stung becuz damn kid just wants to live with his little sister and give her a good life but that’s not gonna work out anymore. Nonetheless, they didn’t waste time offing him as soon almost as soon as he showed up.
━━━━━━━ ✤ ━━━━━━━
Aight ngl bro I got bored asf as soon as the second half of the episodes started… I started getting distracted after episode 11 and they just didn’t hit the same. I tried to keep watching, got thru a few but I stopped at 16(?) and just haven’t gone back to finish it (to be fair I was trying to binge it in two days which I’m bad at doing these days-) BUT, MAYBE ILL FINISH IT AND UPDATE But for now here’s my blabbering abt 86 uwa

thin walls. (m)
Tumblr media
pairing: softdom!jaemin x sub!reader
words: 1.8k+
summary: you try your best to keep quiet since you know jaemin’s room is right next to yours. turns out you’re not as quiet as you think.
genre: fluff, smut
warnings: dom!jaemin, bestfriend!jaemin, roommate!jaemin, oral sex, daddy kink, multiple orgasms, overstimulation, creampie
“Isn’t it weird?”
“Is what weird?”
You’re having your weekly video call with Donghyuck and Renjun, the latter actually paying attention to your conversation while the former furiously clicks away on his keyboard.
“We’ve been quarantining for almost a year now. You haven’t gotten any dick in months and your roommate is like the hottest guy we know,” Renjun clarifies, raising an eyebrow. You both ignore the sound of Donghyuck grumbling loudly as he loses another game.
You roll your eyes. “And you’re so concerned about my sex life because?”
“Because clearly, neither me or Donghyuck have one. I’m living vicariously through you.”
That gets Donghyuck’s attention. “For your information, I am supporting many lovely women through OnlyFans. It’s only Renjun that has difficulties with sexual partners.”
Renjun scoffs. “I could have anyone on their knees for me, and we all know it.”
There’s a knock on your door and you take an earbud out when Jaemin pops his head in. He looks like a mess — his hair springing up in different places and eyes puffy. You frown at his disheveled state.
“Hey, are you still busy?”
Your fingers move at the speed of lightning, barely registering Renjun’s protest when you quickly leave the meeting. You toss your laptop and earbuds aside to give your best friend your full attention.
He chuckles and scratches the back of his neck. “If you’re busy, I can come back later.”
“Nope, not busy anymore. Are you okay, Jaem?”
He fully enters the room and shuts the door behind him. He smiles softly at you as he takes a seat on your bed.
“Not feeling too great. Just wanted to see you.”
You ignore the swell in your chest at his confession, worriedly stroking his cheek when you realize how red his eyes are. His hand comes up to play with your fingers, eyes moving in and out of focus.
“What’s wrong?” You finally ask.
He shrugs. “Didn’t do so well on my test today. Feeling a little hopeless.”
Your frown grows deeper. You move closer to him, wanting to soothe his pain.
“Don’t say that. It’s just one test, you’ll do better on the next one. I’ll help you! We can make flash cards and create some trivia games to help you remember.”
He chuckles, eyes still staring down at your connected hands.
“You always know what to say. How is that?”
You giggle. “I earned the title of your best friend for a reason.”
“I suppose you did.” His eyes move upwards to lock on you. “Can I stay here? Just for tonight.”
You freeze. You haven’t slept next to Jaemin in months, the two of you only doing so when you were really drunk or really sad. You don’t even remember what it’s like to fall asleep in your best friend’s arms.
“Sure.”
And you two fall into a quiet rhythm, Jaemin’s arms circling around you as he brings your back to his chest. Your eyes flutter shut, focusing on his steady breaths as you try to fall asleep.
You’re startled when you suddenly feel a pair of lips ghost over your neck, pressing a small kiss to your collarbone.
“J-Jaem?”
He hums in response, not showing any signs of stopping while he continues to pepper kisses on your shoulder.
“Jaem, w-what are you d-doing?”
“I heard you last night.”
You pause. You try to register what he’s saying, which you find is incredibly hard to do when his tongue darts out, licking a stripe up your neck. You backtrack to last night, when you were feeling so drowsy but struggled to get to sleep. You don’t remember much, except for the fact that you reached to your nightstand to grab your vibrator-
Oh. Oh fuck.
“Y-You heard that?”
He hums again, moving to suck your neck with vigor. When he finally parts from his masterpiece, he chuckles.
“How could I not? The walls aren’t exactly thin, you know. I hear everything — all your silly commentary when you rewatch your favorite dramas, your weekly conversations with Renjun and Donghyuck, the pretty little noises you make when you turn your vibrator on, and the unmistakable sound of porn you watch when you’re really aroused.”
You feel more than embarrassed, stuttering as you try to offer an explanation. Jaemin chuckles against your ear, biting softly down on the lobe. A whimper tumbles out of your mouth before you realize it.
“I couldn’t sleep last night after listening to you. You made me fail my test, baby.”
“I’m s-sorry.”
“If you’re really sorry, you’ll let me eat you out.”
You swear your heart stops. “W-What?”
“I’m hungry. You wouldn’t want me to go to bed on an empty stomach, would you?”
“U-Um, no.”
Before you know it, you’re on your back with Jaemin between your legs. His fingers thumb over the fabric of your pajama shorts and he looks up at you, his eyes glimmering with a question.
You nod. “It’s okay, Jaem.”
With your permission, he slides your shorts down your legs and throws them haphazardly across the room. His gaze darkens at the sight of your lacy panties, which you honestly wore unintentionally today. You’re glad you picked them this morning though, because Jaemin looked like he was about to go insane at the sight.
“You’re so fucking perfect.”
And then his tongue licks a stripe up your clothed core and you yelp. He’s almost predatory, shoving your underwear aside and diving into your sopping pussy. You moan when his tongue furiously licks your folds, curling in on yourself while he holds you down.
“Jaemin!”
He parts from you briefly and raises an eyebrow. “I think you have another name to call me.”
You’re confused yet again. “W-What?”
He snickers. “Forgot already? I listened to all those dirty videos you were watching, baby. I know all your cute little kinks. Now, I know you have a different name to address me as.”
“J-Jaemin, I-“
He clicks his tongue. “That’s not right.”
You gather all the courage you have inside of you, ignoring the clear embarrassment on your face by the fact that Jaemin has discovered all of your secret fantasies.
“Daddy, please eat me out.”
He smiles mischievously. “Good girl.”
You have no time to dwell on your self-consciousness before he’s sinking a finger inside of you, tongue lapping at your clit. You feel like a dog in heat, warmth spreading throughout your body as you struggle to comprehend the fact that your best friend is currently eating you out like his life depends on it.
“D-Daddy, daddy!” You scream when he slips another finger inside, curling them upwards while he sucks on your clit furiously. “I’m gonna- I’m gonna-“
You cry out when your orgasm sweeps over you in waves, thrashing and whimpering under Jaemin’s hold. He uses his other hand to hold your hips down when the oversensitivity crashes into you, desperately trying to push away from him.
“D-Daddy, no, I-I’m sensitive-“
Jaemin growls and holds you tighter, fingers still drilling into your pussy and mouth wrapped around your sensitive bud. You don’t have time to warn him when your second orgasm comes just as quickly as the first, convulsing around him. You try to gain a sense of strength to push him away before he can launch you into a third, and Jaemin gets the message as he parts from you.
His chin glimmers with evidence of your arousal, fingers slipping into his mouth while he tastes the remnants of your two orgasms.
He pounces on you, lips crashing into yours and you moan. You can taste yourself on his tongue, and the fact shoots another spike of arousal to your core.
“What else did they do in that video, baby?” He whispers breathily. “Tell me.”
Your brain is a little fuzzy as you try to remember.
“H-He fucked the girl until she was crying and she took it. Anything to please her d-daddy.”
He smirks. “Is that what I should do to you? Fuck you until you’re crying? Will you do anything to please me?”
You know you trusted Jaemin with your life, so you nod.
“Anything for you, daddy.”
He grins. He quickly pulls down his sweatpants and his cock springs up, already half hard. You gulp at his size, and you’re suddenly reminded of why Renjun calls Jaemin the hottest guy you know. Jaemin’s girth wasn’t exactly a secret in your friend group, many rumors spreading around after Donghyuck discovered how well endowed your roommate actually was.
His fingers grip his base, slowly pumping himself while keeping his eyes locked on you.
“Like what you see, baby? Do you think your pussy is ready to take daddy’s fat cock?”
“Y-Yes, d-daddy. I c-can take your c-cock.”
He chuckles at your response, brushing strands of hair away from your face to fully look at you. His look is almost endearing, and you would swoon any other day if he wasn’t about to fuck you.
He lines himself up to your entrance, pausing for a second.
“Do I need to get a condom?”
You shake your head. “I’m on birth control. We’re fine.”
He doesn’t hesitate any longer, pushing into you slowly. You whine at the stretch. You haven’t been taken like this in months, and your vibrator is no match for his huge cock. He coaxes you through the pain, whispering softly in your ear and kissing your neck again to help ease you up.
Once he bottoms out, he waits patiently for your go ahead before moving. You can tell it’s killing him on the inside, brows pushed together as he tries his best not to pound you deep into the mattress.
“P-Please, daddy.”
Jaemin builds a steady pace inside of you, groaning and grunting into your ear as he sinks deeper and deeper. Your mind draws a blank when you struggle to form any coherent words, babbling while he impales you with his cock.
“You’re such a good girl for me. Always so good. Been waiting for this forever, baby. Dreamed so long of having you underneath me like this.”
“Daddy,” you gasp at his unexpected confession, hissing lowly when his fingers circle around your clit. Tears spring up in your eyes from the pleasure.
“Especially all those mornings when you were wearing practically nothing in front of me, you don’t even know how many times I wanted to take you on the kitchen counter.”
You cry when his cock hits you harder and faster.
“But you’re so good for me now, aren’t you, baby? So pretty and perfect for her daddy.”
“Y-Yes, daddy,” you whimper. “I’m all yours. All good for daddy.”
Jaemin groans loudly. “Cum for me, baby. Cum for daddy.”
Your orgasm is blinding, your nails digging into his shoulders as you ride out your high. He follows shortly after you, grunting when he shoots his cum deep inside your waiting womb.
You both lay in silence before you suddenly burst out in laughter. Jaemin eyes you.
“What?”
“We just fucked. I just fucked my best friend and called him daddy. This is so surreal.”
He chuckles, leaning down to press a kiss against your lips.
“Better get used to it. Who knows how long we’ll be stuck in quarantine together.”
You smile. “Doesn’t sound so bad to me.”

New(ish) to J2 fandom, just spent the past god knows how many sleepless nights reading through Speak the Truth, trawling through spn_gossip and rewatching old cons and I👏am👏going👏in👏SANE👏
I considered myself a relatively reasonable person, but when it comes to J2, I have ZERO control. Tinhatting aside, their obvious love for one another makes me want to put myself in a grave.
As an old hat, some questions for you..
1. when did you first fall for the boys and what made you start tinhatting?
2. what the hell is it about them that drives us (j2 fandom) SO insane? (why the hell do I care whether two random people are/are not *really* in love?)
3. any coping mechanisms to deal with this obsession?
hi anon honestly what a wonderful ask <33333 this is gonna be a long one so buckle up !!
WE ARE ALL INSANE LET ME TELL YOU THAT MUCH. ''sleepless nights going through tinhat stuff' BEEN THERE! DONE THAT! I am so in love with their love i have 0 control let me tell you that much. their love for each other TINHATTING ASIDEEEE makes me want to jump off a cliff it's so gorgeous it makes me insane all the time. i mean HOW CAN YOU NOT GO INSANE WHEN YOU SEE ALL THIS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. when did you first fall for the boys and what made you start tinhatting?
-when i first started watching supernatural, i was IN LOVE with sam and dean's relationship. it was JUST <3 and i obviously saw the insane and beautiful chemistry the actors had. my friend who got me hooked on the show, used to ramble on about how beautiful j2's friendship was and i was like mmhmm cool cool. i started watching con videos and i was just blown away by their friendship, the easiness they had and the obvious love and affection. i wasn't a tinhat and while i did go 👀👀👀 at many things(only con videos till now) i was like- PLSDJFJG i'm just projecting my wincest fantasies on them ffs. anyways moving on to me venturing into the tumblr world, long before i made an account, i was scrolling through the j2 tag and it was all cute pics vids and stories and i was all aww! when i came across a post(I AM BEGGING ANYONE WHO KNOWS IT LINK IT TO ME PLEASE I CANT FIND IT) which was of a convention clip i had already seen: (x) (starts at 9:15) and it was the SPNMINN 2018 J2 Gold Panel- Jared got a box of cupcakes from a fan and while eating one there was frosting all smeared on him and Jensen took some napkins and cleaned Jared's mouth IT'S THE CUTESTTT and while jen's cleaning up uk he makes those ''ugh'' sounds, grumpy jensen <3333333 but still taking care of his boy <333333
the post was captioned if i remember correctly: ''his mouth is saying ugh but his eyes are saying oh'' (bc jared 's mouth was all shiny and pretty so ehem ;)) AND I JUST FROZE FOR A MINUTE. It took a minute for me to process it but when it finally loaded i was like W H A T. WHAT IN ALL OF ??????? IS THE OP IMPLYING- (be known that i knew the j's were married and had kids so anyone implying or saying that they were romantically involved was like ''are u crazy'' for me, pls i was so naive, also it was the first time i was so blatantly exposed to it, anyways) i was like shooketh. and then i looked at the tags and it was your average: ''jared padalecki'' ''jensen ackles'' and then ''j2 tinhat''. and i was ??? what the hell is a tinhat ???? ehem you can be sure that i clicked on it, it loaded AND THE FIRST POST THAT JUMPED OUT AT ME was this gif of Jared STROKING jensen's neck and the hairs at the back of it and I WAS WTFHJDJHFJFKFJ. ?????????????? THE HELL IS THIS ????????????????????
anyways i spent the entire NIGHT SCROLLING THRU THE TAG and my entire world like everything i knew was just flipped and scrambled and i was just ohmygod what the fuck and i found out there was a whole community of j2 tinhats who believed j2 were involved and the marriages were to cover it up and let me be honest, i thought y'all were crazy. i was like nope nope these are just people with too much time on their hands and too much of an overactive imagination. LIKE NO THERE'S NO WAY-
i spent so long being a fencesitter, scrolling, researching, trudging my way thru spn_g, all the blogs(and i learnt to keep an open mind that's very imp!) but i was still in denial. it was right in front of me BUT STILLLLL. and then. the thing that convinced me wasn't an elaborate theory, a slip up or anything like that. it was a tiny simple collection of gifs of j2 secretly touching each other's hands. and the gif that convinced me was:
Tumblr media
it was 3 or 4 am in the morning and i was yet again scrolling through as much tinhattery stuff as i could and i came across it and i was just: ohmygod. they're together. OHMYGOD. THEY'RE IN LOVE. the- they are actually- ohmygod. LIKE JENSEN IS FONDLY CARESSING JARED'S FINGERS HE DELIBERATELY SEEKED THEM OUT WHILE HIS HAND WAS ON THE FAN AND JARED'S NOT EVEN STARTLED HE ALLOWS IT LIKE GOD ???? like idc how bro-y and bestfriendism you are- FRIENDS DON'T DO THAT. PLATONIC BUDDIES DON'T SEEK OUT YOUR HAND LIKE THIS AND CARESS THE FINGERS OF SAID HAND, SMILE ALL LOVE-SICK LIKE AND CURL THEIR FINGERS UNDER YOUR TOUCH AND THEN GO BACK AND DO THE SAME THING ALL OVER AGAIN LIKE SOME SMITTEN HUSBAND OKAY. AND IN SECRET TOO LIKE-
i was like again FLOORED but like seeing THAT just flipped me completely and it slammed into me like a car(and i've been hit by a car irl so I KNOW). i fell so deep into the tinhat hole and after that everything else just made sense. their actions that didn't match up with their stories, the slip-ups, the weirdness(look when i was a non-tinhat, i wasn't an overly eager het stan or whatever but i was so done with jared and gen repeating the same things over and over again and jensen and danneel's interactions were ehem with all due respect boring.) and THEM J2 THEIR LOVE THEIR INTERACTIONS THE LOOKS THE EVERYTHING !!!!! i've been a tinhat since and while i've had my doubts here and there i've never taken my hat off <3
2. what the hell is it about them that drives us (j2 fandom) SO insane? (why the hell do I care whether two random people are/are not *really* in love?)
-it's them anon *shrugs and cries a little*. them, their love for each other is so out of this world. they've sacrificed so much to be together, they love each other so deeply and are such an integral part of each other's lives and god they fit so fucking well ??? they connected the moment they met and they are each other's other halves!! it's something out of a movie or some shit like godddddd. they drive us insane by just being THEM !!! separately even i have never seen two better men who try so hard to be good, who give us their all and let themselves loose, who love so beautifully. and together they're perfect. their love story is one for the ages and i admire it and cherish it so much. they struggle with it all yet love each other so much and it's not like it's even subtle it's out their for EVERYONE TO SEE. The way they talk about each other, the way they look after each other, the little glimpses we see into them and their relationship. it's something that's so beyond our understanding, it's on a plane of it's own. j2 are WHY i believe so wholly in true love <33 ''why the hell do we care'' that kind of dedication the one they show us and the kind of love they send us, it creates a bond, fans, admirers, and people who are willing to stick with you no matter what. i look up to them so much, they are such a comfort to me and i love love love their relationship. they drive us so insane and how could they not!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
there's 15003878398449 moments i could talk about but god i'm just so fucking insane for them and the love they share, we all are !!! and also think about it where did sam and dean get their insane-ness from ??? <333
(x) (x) (x) (x) (x) (x) (x) (x) (x) (x) - linking to a few <333(ok more than a few)
<3
they're soulmates ❤️
3. any coping mechanisms to deal with this obsession? -believe me anon if i knew, i would tell you.
