She was out to prepare something in the greenhouse to surprise Ivy but then was caught by her in the act. Tending to some roses as she nervously picked one up and handed it to her. In return she got a headpat from her girlfriend that made her super flushed avoiding eyes to look at her.

"April, you are just a sweetheart... I would have been happy enough to tend to these with you."

"I... just don't want anyone to be put off how I look again... not many trust demons but... that you would give me such kindness... pat me like this... I am happy that I neither scare not push you away... I love you so much."

Hearing this Ivy herself blushed and pulled her hands closer.

"You need to less listen to others, You are beautifull, April."

This was the final step to making her a nervous emberassed mess and hide her face sitting down on the bench to calm down for a while... while her Girlfriend leaned against her holding the rose happily.

He was finally done with what he did as Astrid came to visit him... he inspected and held the doll up in his hands as he felt her slightly ruffle his hair and smile.

"Its looks pretty as usual, you really do good with the details."

Emil was a mix of pouty, red and tired looking at her.

"You know you shouldn't touch me out of knowwhere but... thank you... its good for once to hear praise instead of demand after demand."

"They really don't praise you for this? You need some more recognition really, in doubt I take care of it."

"You don't have to... wait if you are here let me show you the ones I made for you."

He got up to pick out the box where he placed the finished ones but she has a smile enough that she could get his usual annoyed facade lift into a red smile.

Annon-Guy: This is head canon scenario, but how do you think a child born from a Summon Spirit (Emil X Marta) and a Centurion (Richter X Aqua) would turn out in your opinion?

I would see an Emil/Marta child turning out similar to Chosens like Colette and Zelos. Human in appearance, because Ratatosk copied Aster's human body, but with a high sensitivity and tolerance to mana (Emil with the centurion cores and a Marta that has linked herself to Ratakost's core can manipulate elements). I coud also see their child inheriting some of Ratatosk's beastmaster abilities, being able to communicate with and befriend monsters.

So, functionally they would be similar to a half elf, but with a beastmaster ability, and a potential preference for light elemental magic from Marta. Lifespan would probably be elven/half elven in nature due to Emil being an immortal summon spirit and Marta being a human.

A Richter/Aqua child, if that was something that could happen, would definitely turn out interesting, because Richter is already a half elf and he gave himself demonic traits in order to confront Ratatosk. Aqua is a centurion and has both water monster and humanoid traits. So it wouldn't be out of question for their child to be a shapeshifter or to have some obvious non-human traits, sky high mana levels, and a very high affinity for water and dark elemental magic.

Annon-Guy: Yeah, but it's nice to find Marta fans too sense she's unfairy hated on over here in the West, wether it's her character in the begining or dunking on her so fans can ship Emil with Richter.

Oh she’s definitely overly hated. If there’s a few things in the fandom that I think are overly hated to the point where I just block people, it’s the hating of Zestiria, Colette, or Marta :/

Like I get it. Marta is not the best-written character, and doesn’t have an immediately likable personality. Though it’s been a while since I’ve played DotNW, I do recall there being a point where Marta concludes her plot with the Vanguard and her father and takes the backseat and is basically boring for the last chapter of the game. (could be wrong though, it’s been a hot minute) but like. Come on, let girls be passionate about love and whistful about a boy she likes. Emil even confronts her about how unfairly she puts him on a pedestal for something he doesn’t remember. She learns from it, she grows to listen and learn to fall in love with the actual person that Emil is, and comes to peace with her own family and past.

Sure, she’s not my favorite Tales girl (that goes to Colette), but she’s absolutely not the worst, much less the worst character in that game.

ALSO also, I personally don’t care for the Richter x Emil ship, but I don’t care that it’s a ship that exists, if that makes sense? It’s not my cup of tea, I don’t like the mental age gap, I’m… not that crazy about Richter, but Im not going to stop the people that do ship it. Heck, a lot of the people that ship them are fun! (in my experience anyway) I like talking to them and hearing their thoughts on my boy Emil. (Aster x Richter on the other hand is top tier and I wish we got more scenes of them together)

But YES I don’t like the people that bash on Marta just to justify shipping Emil with Richter. It’s so exhausting.. aren’t you tired? They’re characters, at the end of the day. Play with them!

Annon-Guy: What's your opinion on Richter X Aqua?

I think with how sparse the game canon material is, there really isn't much to go on for Richter X Aqua. If anything he treats her as a friend or a pawn. I think Sonic and Amy have more chemistry and that was also largely a one-sided relationship for most of the Sonic Canon. The Onshuu no Richter manga tries to push the Richter X Aqua stuff HARD. And by hard I mean they push it more than any other relationship that wasn't Emil/Marta, which they pushed very hard.

Richter is a lot softer with Aqua in the manga than he ever seems in game. The game gives me the impression that he just accepts and tolerates her doting but we never see him reciprocate and even when Aqua basically puts her life on the line to buy him more time during the endgame. But in the manga he gives her this super soft smile and Aster teases him about how Aqua calls him handsome. I'm sure the text intends us to read this as budding romance for Richter x Aqua, but to me and my smooth brain that got sandpapered down by the canon where RICHTER LITERALLY PLANS TO DOOM THE WORLD FOR HIS DEAD "FRIEND" ASTER which has ZERO heterosexual explanation to me (I have friends I would kill and die for but I honestly can't think of anyone but my partner where I would think "Yeah, a world without them isn't worth living in, might as well nuke the planet.") So, TL;DR, I think there's potential there. Unlike Marta, Aqua mostly just flatters and helps Richter. We never really see her doing anything Richter seems uncomfortable with. If there were better writers or more time spent on that in the manga, I could see Richter x Aqua being a substantial relationship. I've played with some shipping ideas with the two of them, though I must say I don't treat Richter X Aqua with the same seriousness as Richter X Emil or Richter X Aster. But as far as the game goes there's no substance there, so I don't buy into their relationship being intentional in the game. I buy it as a one-sided relationship at most. The manga, as hard as it tries, can't make me see their relationship as anything more than a guy with a kind heart being nice to an underdog centurion who's trying her best. The most I would ever concede there is that there's POTENTIAL there for something to happen, but not a genuine romance yet. Honestly, the only evidence we really have is that he gives Aqua the softest smile in the manga. Which I suppose is meant to be interpreted with romantic intent. But honestly all I see is "Aww, Richter's a softie" and not "Aww, Richter's in love with her."

This reads to me more as a guy trying to reassure his clumsy female friend than it does "man trying to flirt with cute girl." He seems flustered when she calls him handsome, but not in an "Aw shucks" way but more in an "Oh, great, now she's in love with me" way. The little heart bounces off his head and everything. If anything, this page taught me more about the potential of POLWIGLES to find Richter handsome than it taught me about Richter and Aqua's potential for a relationship. Hell, Aster's even blushing a bit as he's teasing Richter. I 100% this is meant to be interpreted as "bro teases his bro about an embarrassing moment" but like... After a game where the major inciting factor was "Scrungly little kind-hearted pipsqueak gets unjustly murdered which causes his big buff friend to literally fight a minor god and sacrifice the future of the world for even a tiny chance at revenge and a glimmer of hope that was almost certainly a lie about possibly getting the scrungly pipsqueak back" I'm WAY more inclined to read that tiny blush as Aster teasing Richter AND thinking to himself "Aqua is correct, he is handsome!" TL;DR again: basically I enjoy playing with the Richter X Aqua idea, but neither the game canon or the manga canon gave the relationship ANYTHING solid to base this off of other than, like, Richter not snapping at Aqua for constantly flirting and Richter smiling softly, like, once. I enjoy a bit of Richter X Aqua if I'm the one making it up with a decent foundation. But most of that foundation is honestly me writing Aqua to being his friend first and proving that she has Richter's best interests in mind even when it's clear he's in love with someone else like Aster or Emil and THEN having them grow close as friends to the point where Richter starts feeling affection in return. Even so, I tend to enjoy the Richter/Aqua friendship dynamic MUCH MORE than I enjoy Richter x Aqua romantic potential. Her ability to transform does have a lot of potential for romance and kink fic, but honestly, I love Aqua best when she's Richter's BFF. Like, Aqua wingmanning for Richter as Richter tries to flirt with Emil sounds so much better (and works so much better with the game canon) than anything Aqua could offer herself. Like, imagine Aqua transforming into Emil so Richter can practice his pickup lines on her before trying them on Emil. Imagine Aqua as Richter's best man at the wedding. Imagine Aqua as the friend that walks Richter home after a night out drinking and not taking advantage of him or expecting anything. That's all solid stuff I would 100% buy as canon AND that would serve as a way better foundation for a real relationship later if you want to imagine romance than just "He saved my life once and it cost him his best friend so now I constantly flirt with him because his smile is handsome and I know he's available now."

I guess I just find friendship sexy. Let them be friends first. I want these two on a corner eating ice cream and quietly judging other peoples' tastes in clothing like sassy gal pals first. If the friendship doesn't at least get to that point I literally cannot envision romance there, no matter how much the manga seems to want me to. I want Aqua to make Richter laugh first. I want him to sit down and let her practice make up on him so she can figure out what humans and half elves find attractive. I want Aqua and Richter in the kitchen together absolutely wrecking everything as they try to follow a basic recipe because neither of them have experience. I want them to ease into things. I want them playing truth or dare at 3 AM because Aqua just heard about slumber parties and Richter has never had one because his childhood was fucking stolen by prejudice and horrid laws about half-elf "forced labor." I want Richter actually hanging out with her and not just calling her up when he needs an extra pair of hands. I want a drunken 4 AM where Aqua has to say "No, you're not having any more liquor tonight." Instead of caving like she always does and letting Richter drink himself to sleep. I want the 5 AM confession where Richter's half asleep so Aqua's sure it doesn't mean anything when Richter sobs out that she's always been so kind and he doesn't deserve her love. I need this shit to take 10,000 words at least. You feel me?

I have nothing against it the way I have some major concerns over Emil and Marta. But there just isn't enough there. Honestly I see more potential with Richter and Colette and they only had, like, 1 interaction, off screen. But in that interaction, despite Richter literally actually wanting her either dead or incapacitated so he can take her Cruxis Crystal, he shows kindness to her and to the homeowner whose house he inadvertently "decorated" with Colette's outline when she fell through their wall by PAYING FOR THE DAMAGE HIMSELF. And then he didn't even keep fighting with Colette. He let her go and warned her that he would come after her again. Richter doesn't show that much concern for even Aqua. So, like... Either Richter shows love in a very gruff way or Aqua's just not on the top of the list of people he has compassion for which would not be a great way to start a relationship...

TL;DR for the last time: I do occasionally ship Richter X Aqua, but I’m particular about it. I don’t see enough evidence for it to base any of my shipping off the game or the manga, so most of the feelings I have about the ship are feelings specifically about the sort of relationship I made up for them in my head so it’s based almost 100% on stuff I made up for me. I don’t think the romance potential for them is portrayed well in any of the media they’re in at all (Is Aqua even in Rays? Rays full on confirms that Aster is Richter’s most important person, not her, right? She doesn’t even show up in Rays, does she?) so while I do like the potential they could have, there’s nothing in any of the source material that makes me think that.

In my views; Emil - Marta always supported him and changed her views in regards to him. Marta - When she began to see Emil for who he really is, she admired that he gives everything he has in spite of his fears and came to love his kind nature. This can also be extended to Ratatosk Emil too.

Continued Annon-Guy: Outside of Emil X Marta, what do you think of the other major romance pairings (Canon and Fanon)? Lloyd X Colette (Canon), Zelos X Sheena (Semi-Canon), Genis X Presea (Fanon, but I wish it was Canon), Raine X Regal (Fanon) and Alice X Decus (Canon). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, that's a good summary about what I like about the Emil x Marta relationship dynamic and storyline. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the devs made a risky but smart choice by having the new party be reduced to three characters (Emil, Marta and Tenebrae) with the OG Symphonia cast coming and going depending on plot events. That way, they could dedicate more time to flesh out Emil, Marta and Tenebrae along with their character dynamics and their relationships with each other. Emil and Marta's romantic storyline also benefitted from it, because we can see it develop and mature throughout the game, just like Emil and Marta do. That way, we get a small core of important new characters that the game can take a lot of time developing (Emil, Marta, Tenebrae, Richter, Alice and Decus), while still bringing in the old favourites from Symphonia that players were already familiar with.

About the other pairings, I enjoy all of those as well! Lloyd x Colette is excellent. Symphonia's character and plot writing is top-notch in general, and they dedicated a lot of love and care to writing Lloyd, Colette and their relationship with each other. Their growing closeness feels natural, and so does that they are willing to go to the ends of the earth to save each other, while still saving the world. Refusing to make Colette into a sacrifice while also refusing to forsake the world is the most difficult path to follow, but it is the one that eventually allows Lloyd to find a REAL solution to a problem that had stumped Mithos and the Kharlan heroes for 4000 years. Colette's journey is equally impactful. Because Colette is usually portrayed as being a cheerful, heartwarming, all-loving girl. But we can easily forget that Colette was groomed since she was born to have no care or regard for herself other than in her role of a self-sacrificing Chosen, that she had fully accepted that her fate was to "become an angel" (aka commit ritual suicide) so that the world can flourish. She was just sixteen years old when she was sent on her journey towards her own death, and she hid what the rituals were doing to her body until the final temple so that Lloyd and Genis could continue being happily oblivious to her ultimate fate. It takes the entire Sylvarant arc and most of the Tethe'alla arc for Colette to heal from what the Church of Martel and Cruxis had done to her sense of self and her self-esteem. That's how long it takes Colette to value her own life and want to live for herself, to be able to say no to the Church of Martel and the people of Sylvarant demanding that she kill herself for their sake, to not gracefully accept that she is a terribly selfish and cowardly failure of a Chosen for wanting to LIVE.

And Lloyd is the one who is willing to fight and argue with the entire world that Colette is a person who deserves to live for herself just like anyone else does. Lloyd cares, and the fact that Loyd cares and refuses to give into cynicism or accept sacrifices is what ends up not just saving Colette, but the world too. Because his care for Colette, the girl he loves, end up encompassing the Sylvarant and Tethe'alla, humans, elves, half-elves and dwarves. And that allows Lloyd to bridge the gap between worlds and cultures in order to save everyone, not just save his own group while condemning his "enemies".

Lloyd and Colette are also very fun together, and they are allowed to have fun and be childish when the occasion allows it. The game also gave them a lot of opportunities to dress up and go on little dates, which is adorable. I could talk about Lloyd and Colette forever, but the entire game is a giant Lloyd x Colette ship manifesto.

Zelos x Sheena is also an interesting potential ship because they are dealing with similar issues. It's no coincidence that Mithos made Zelos and Sheena face the same kind of illusion once he trapped them in Welgaia during the last stretch of the game. Both of them struggle with GUILT, Sheena because of the Volt incident and because she was sent to be an assassin in order to save her land when her heart is too kind to ever be one. And Zelos started struggling with guilt after the incident between his mother and Seles' mother, and especially Seles' house arrest. That's also the moment where he truly started to stuggle with and resent the role of the Chosen.

Zelos' other big struggle is whether to be selfish or to be selfless, to continue being the Chosen or allow Seles to be given the burden when he knows all it entails is suffering, to betray the group or risk his neck to save them. He was also the spy, and once the group accepts him, includes him, believes in him and allows him to be himself rather than the Chosen, he starts to feel guilty about his role as Mithos' spy.

Sheena and Zelos also end up in positions of leadership among their respective people, and they have a compatible dynamic. It's fun to see them play off each other, andthey had history together even before they met Lloyd's group. So it makes for some interesting potential relationship dynamics. Especially because Sheena is the one Tethea'lla woman who is very much neither fooled nor impressed with Zelos' fake playboy act. She gets mad at it, and reacts positively when Zelos is genuine and serious.

Genis x Presea is cute, but I can also see it as Presea being Genis' first serious crush that eventually fades. Genis' crush is intentense in the Tethe'alla arc, but it takes a backseat once Genis has to come to terms with Mithos' reveal and Presea has, likewise, to process Alicia's death. Neither of them are anywhere ready for a serious relationship at the end of the game, which doesn't mean that they can't develop some mutual feelings a few years later. And Presea haivng being exposed to an experimental Cruxis Crystal for ten years may actually make her be able to match Genis' half-elven lifespan, so they could have a lot of time for potential feelings to be developed in the future.

Raine x Regal are a good potential pairing as well, as they took the part of "Responsible Adult Team" in the symphonia group, they were the ones to take precautions that the younger members of the team overlooked, and they are on a similar wavelength. Dawn also gave some ship-tease with the letter writing between Regal and Raine.

Finally, Alice x Decus is a good tragic villain pairing, as we can easily see the potential for what it could have been if their circumstances and lives had been different. And they are also an excellent narrative mirror/foils to Marta x Emil, as they showcase nearly all the pitfalls either of them could fall into if they didn't put the work into growing as people and overcoming their character flaws. Instead, Alice and Decus allowed those character flaws to devour them, not even being able to truly communicate how much they cared for each other until they were dying for their beloved. And that's not even getting into what they DO to people they don't care about.

Sure thing, dude! I'll make this the last post of tonight's Tales of Sunday, too. Let's set this up the same way I did on this post.

Emil: He's baby boy baby! I know a lot of people who play (and dislike) DotNW can't stand Emil's cowardice and hate towards Lloyd at the beginning. Besides the hating Lloyd part, I always found it very relatable! Admittedly it's still a character flaw for him to get over, but I don't find it as annoying as others do. But I love him, I love his development, and his eventual friendship with Lloyd. I think his character was handled really well. And dude. Especially how he feels responsible for Aster's death and stealing his life? Relatable, I would feel the exact same way 100%.

Ratatosk: Spicy baby! Honestly his character development was a lot of fun to see through the story, especially how it all comes to a head when he fights Emil in the true ending. (I also love the detail that he's just as good a cook as Emil, he just doesn't care about presentation lol). The way he gets soft for Marta is very sweet, too. I have mixed feelings about how his character is handled in the crossover games, though.

Marta: Haha, like I said, she's not my favorite Tales Heroine, but she's not bad. I also loved her as a kid! She was like a silly self-insert for me at the time. Her weapon has always confused me, and her battle combos aren't great, but bringing optimism to contradict Emil's pessimism was always a nice touch. I especially love her relationship with Tenebrae, and her eventual friendship with Colette. I'm not a ~huge~ fan of her reading too much into Emil's interactions with the other female members of the party ("I see you're into older women now" like what the hell), but when she's sincere I really appreciate her.

Tenebrae: love him, snarky doggy boi :3 His clothes are the same as his skin... always bothered me, ha! Besides Repede, I think he's one of the better designs of a dog character in the series. LOVE his tail hand. Iconic design. 10/10.

Richter: He's fine, he serves his purpose. I wish I could love him as much as other fans, but much like Yuan, I never really clicked with him. His motivation and how much he believed in Aster is very moving, though! And his theme? Top tier.

Aqua: she's a character. Love her design!

Alice: a really good character to hate! Her baby voice makes my skin crawl, her malicious innocence is entertaining. All her nicknames for people suck, and I think that just adds to it. To be clear, I don't hate her as a character that exists! I'm glad she exists, she adds to the plot and to fleshing out Marta. It sucks she gets dropped for a good while after the raid on the Vanguard base. But man. I hate her.

Decus: he's fine. I tend to have a bias towards characters that have a lot of jewelry (due to my phobia) in not liking them as much as other people? He's in the story to exist as a Lloyd-framer and a mirror to Emil, but otherwise they don't do much with him that matters. He's comedic. Too much so. You can't take him seriously even when they want you to because he's too goofy.

This next section I assume you mean like, shipping wise?

Emil x Marta: They're cute! I like them a lot, as characters, but not so much as a couple, I guess? They're a cute high school couple in a Christian School setting, but once they head off to college either they're going to need to really make things work or settle with being friends (close friends!). That's the vibe I get from them. I don't see them completely separating, but I also don't see them like. Having kids. At least, not without problems.

Alice x Decus: they're a mirror to Emil and Marta's relationship! That's... about it. I'm going to be completely honest, I don't really have any thoughts about them other than that is a toxic relationship. They're okay!

Annon-Guy: In terms of an Actor Alternate Universe: Are Emil, Marta, Tenebrae, Richter, Aqua, Alice and Decus like their game counterparts in terms of personality and relationships (Emil X Marta and Alice X Decus on both and off the stage ❤)? Or is it a case of "Nice Character, Mean Actor" for Emil and Marta and "Mean Character, Nice Actor" for Richter, Alice and Decus?

Okay, so, these are just headcanons and thus you will probably get a different answer if you ask me again, but this is what I feel for today. Emil: He is not acting. He's just like that. The only acting part is the stutter and he does it when he forgets a line and they just leave it in because it fits the character.

Marta: Perpetually sleep-deprived understudy who got the part because the OG person cast for Marta got sick during production. She's nice enough when she isn't working, but if you mess up your lines and make her do the take more than 3 times she WILL cry and storm off to her trailer to chug inadvisable amounts of energy drinks and coffee and text all her besties about how being a starlet and getting her big break is hell.

Tenebrae: He's a Puppeteer with a green morph suit. He's from broadway and really hard-core into practical effects and he takes his puppeteering work very seriously. He built and articulated the Tenebrae puppet himself and also provides the voice. Kindly old grandpa on set but VERY SERIOUS.

Richter: Diva but the nice kind. Giggly and forgets his lines often but puts his entire soul into his performance. And then 90% of it gets cut because "Yeah, we decided not to put the whole Richter/Aster backstory into this movie." Richter spends the entire rest of filming in his trailer yelling back and forth with his agent and lawyers because "I was so good, how are they NOT going to use that footage?! This is my breakout performance! They hired me because I'm the only guy on this set that can actually cry on cue and they aren't using ANY of those juicy backstory scenes!" Friendly with the rest of the cast and brings in snacks when he's not on set. Venomous animosity with the director, though.

Aqua: Clueless and bubbly. Irritates the riggers by doing acrobatics in her aerial rig and getting things tangled before shooting starts and has a love-hate relationship with the makeup artist. "We are begging you to stop goofing off while waiting for your cue, we have to keep redoing everything." Hates the armature in her wig that makes the hair-tail move because it's itchy and the noise the joints make right behind her ears makes her skin crawl. Genuinely BFFs with Richter off set. She's responsible for half of the blooper reel. She thinks she has a great relationship with the rest of the cast and staff, but lots of people think she's an airhead because she doesn't take her job seriously, so the director and a lot of the crew kind of hate her. She's oblivious. This is clearly her first acting gig and she's the least professional.

Alice: Diva but the rude kind. Either perpetually hungover from partying and schmoozing with other celebrities or strung out on caffeine from working late. Makes everything someone else's problem. Routinely walks off set and refuses to perform if everyone else isn't ready on her schedule. Mortal Enemies with Tenebrae's actor who also created the Monster puppets because she keeps pulling the stitches out of Aramis because "It's itchy!" Genuinely trying her best but celebrity life is ruining her. Adores getting to be a ruthless villainess because she can let off steam

Decus: Genuinely well-adjusted and the most professional. Amicable with the cast and crew. Everyone genuinely loves him. He's just famous enough to have a small community of dedicated fans, but not famous enough that he can't slink into a crowd and disappear. Somehow has a good work-life balance and falls asleep instantly at any time of day so he's the only one on set that isn't tired all the time. Started a perfume line based on the character of Decus as a joke and had to stop as soon as it became popular because of copyright infringement.

As for relationships.

Everyone thinks Emil and Marta are dating and they change their answers every time they're interviewed. Genuinely nobody knows if they're dating or not but every Tabloid on the planet says they definitely are to the point that their friends and family are like "We think so? They have to be dating right? Otherwise why did we have holiday dinners together?" (The reality is probably that they're in an open relationship because they both know celebrity relationships tend not to last because the job is stressful and they won't always be cast together in movies so it's going to be so easy to catch feelings for their romantic counterparts in later movies that they just decide to enjoy whatever they have together without committing to anything. They enjoy confusing as many people as possible by not explaining their actual relationship status.)

Richter is dating Emil's brother, the stunt double who did all the choreography and also played Aster.

Tenebrae has been married for 40 years but no one has ever seen his wife. (She's camera shy and absolutely refuses to have her photo taken. They occasionally find gift baskets in the break room when the crew wraps that are supposedly from her but no one has EVER seen who leaves them, so no one knows if she's ever even been on set or if she just has someone deliver them.)

Aqua and Richter are BFFs, but Aqua's single. Richter regularly tries to wingman for her, but nothing ever seems to work out. Probably because Richter's gay as hell and doesn't understand straight people attraction.

Alice has a reputation for sleeping with everyone she shares a romantic role with, including the actor for Decus. She's always adamant that she's not even interested in dating and even Decus has stood up for her, but everyone refuses to believe that she isn't sleeping with every man on set.

Decus is basically Alice's only real, constant, celebrity friend because he's just genuinely nice to everyone and Alice doesn't make friends easily. He's actually single and on the dating market, but he knows from Alice how hard it can be to be a celebrity and how easily you can be defamed, so he's trying to date someone outside the movie industry without anyone finding out so he can spare his partner from all the paparazzi vultures and the Tabloid gossip mongers.

I think w Richter/Emil vs Marta/Emil, only Marta/Emil got to a point where romance could happen. Both Richter and Marta have preconceived notions of who Emil is-- Marta thinks he's a heroic knight, while Richter is offput by him looking like Aster. Richter's view is never changed, since around the time he could accept Emil as his own person is when he learned he was really Ratatosk. Conversely, Marta had to deal with her idea not matching to the reality of Emil, and learned to love him as he is.
