We took Ripley schooling yesterday and she was so awesome.
She doesn't look at a single thing. She is so relaxed about being in a new environment, it's really incredible. I'm eager to see how she behaves with show activity happening but so far she has proved unflappable.
Otherwise, she was pretty okay. She didn't love being in the dressage court, i think she relies on the wall at home so we need to practice a lot off the rail moving forward. But overall it was a great experience and I'm really proud of her. 🥰

Happy Birthday Luna!!
On Saturday the most perfect pony turned 12! She got all dressed up and covered in purple sparkles to go on a trail ride. She was super brave about the big water crossing and then refused to walk through a quarter inch deep puddle 🙄 which was extra embarrassing because the puddle was on the side of the road crossing so there were several cars waiting for us to get it together and get off the road. But we stepped around and it was fine. She then got her birthday present of a whole bag of carrots and a happy birthday balloon. (She maybe only cared about the first part of present ). But overall she was super and she was a great sport about all the weird shit which bodes well for fun Halloween costumes, bit that I have any ideas yet

Wheeeee
Had a really fun lesson with my perfect angel pony (well minus when I tapped her with the crop and she kicked out).
We ended with a course at .7m ish which was higher than we’ve jumped in awhile. And it was fun! But I definitely need to ask for way more forward from her and really focus on a good engaged canter. In general I need to be asking more of her because then it goes better (duh). Also still liking the new saddle. It fits her well, doesn’t move around and fits fine well too. So feeling better balanced and secure. And so relieved to not have to think so hard about it anymore. And now I can just focus on me and all the weird things I do with my body. I think I have an okay for feel for what I need to ask for I just always ask with the wrong body part. Ie trying to pump my shoulders instead of using my legs for more forward.
We did have one refusal that was fully my fault. I woahed (read pulled) for the chip instead of pushing for the long spot because we hadn’t jumped this big in awhile and the long spot made me nervous. But more leg is always the right answer. Always.
It was after the refusal that my trainer said to tap her whip when we went again and she was so offended she kicked out twice. And then gave me a perfect beautiful canter for out last two jumps and they were great. My form wasn’t great (read got mess on landing) on the first one, but the last one was about as good as I can be so feeling really good about that. I might not be good but I’m getting better AND I have the best pony.
Post refusal:

Ride 104
Didn’t think I’d get a ride in today, but I knew I wouldn’t have another ride before December hits and I wanted to get to 50 miles. We did end up making the goal, and I’m glad I rode. Considering it was our first cold weather ride since the beginning of the year, and the horses were all playing and running around when I got there, I was a bit worried about how Luna would handle things. She was definitely feeling spunky in the wind, and was pretty looky to start. I had planned on keeping at a walk, but Luna and I both got bored part way through. We started with a trot, but she was clearly wanting to go so I allowed some cantering too. We played it safe and only trotted and cantered on the straight to avoid turbo boosting around the corners. She was a bit rushed at the trot but fairly nice and relaxed at the canter. She offered a small head toss during the third canter transition, but otherwise her transitions were nice and balanced. I honestly expected a buck or two so I was happy with just the head toss. We did have a small fight at one of the corners as she attempted to turn home and I attempted to turn her back to the trail. That ended with a duck and spin because she wasn’t paying attention and got scared by the rustling of the trees. After the spook she turned back easy enough and I stuck to the safer areas of the hay field instead. Solo rides can sometimes be a gamble with Luna, but I’m happy I chose to ride out in the field instead of playing it safer in the arena. Overall a lovely end to the month. We’ve only got 5 miles left to hit our 400 mile goal for the year, but I hope we’ll end up with more.

CL:
Passagey trot down CL. Canter to X not to C, trot like you're going to half circle to the track at E/B.
Not too much right leg/ left shoulder in in the halt

Collect earlier than I think, 6-7 strides, shorter than I think, think passage, then big go go go

Big flex through the corner
Inside hand (or whichever ear is down) up.

Painfully slow
Leg yield off inside leg before starting the piro
Rounder than I think
Make them a small circle with travers esp to the left so don't ground
Painfully slow
WALK DIAGONAL
Aim 2m down from the letter to give more time
Let out curb rein extra
Let elbows go back and forward to make neck look better
Pick up over the QL
WALK TRANS
Flex and inside hand up
Ask 2-3m before letter
Cut short side by 1m so can leg yield out
Stay on the shortside 1-2 strides longer than I think
Quarter pirouette onto the CL.
HALF P
Stay on centreline longer... ride like I'm about to circle at any time
Can leg yield 1 stride or 1 stride travers to start
If gets stuck, sideways for 2, straight for 1
Hands more together
Inside hand up to block the change
Before change, current outside leg back and on to almost counter flex, then fwd and new inside hand up
Straight for 2 strides after the change
Quarter piro through corner
CIRCLE W PIRO CANTER
Ride quarterline to quarterline

CORNER
Ride slightly in, shoulder in/leg yield out a stride
Quarter pirouette into corner
Straighten shoulders

1-2 strides travers piro canter then shoulder in to bring back
Quarter piro
CHANGES
Quarter piro then almost piro again onto diagonal
Keep him off that outside leg (leg yield away from new inside leg)
Up in the changes then collect the stride before. Count to 4 then collect change (6 strides) so they aren't 4s. Proper whack w the outside leg on the right to left change.

这一趟门又会出多久呢
骑机车…突突突…突突突…
预计7月23/24号先从成都出发骑行到贵阳,参加清华硅计划组织贵阳峰会,过几天吃吃喝喝聊聊天踢踢球的日子;
然后继续出发海南,琼海有房,但身上没cash,所以有小伙伴带资进组或一路同行,或一起住在琼海、漫游周边吗哈哈哈

Had such a lovely ride today!
I have finally decided on a saddle and it fits both the pony and me and I’m just so relieved and it’s such a weight off of my shoulders. I hope it continues to work out but mostly I am so happy to just have one and be done with it.
And today 5/17 was a good ride. Just some trot circles and figure eights trying to get her to bend and stretch a little bit better. And then we did some canter pole courses with diagonals and lead changes and she was so good about it and I actually had fun riding her. There is something about just cantering down the long side of an arena that can really bring a smile to your face.
We didn’t do perfect with the lead changes, got the right to left(her left is her preferred lead) over the diagonal poles perfectly but had to do the left ride as a quick simple in the corner after. But she was good and listened the whole time and while far from everything was passable and it was free of frustrations. And most importantly I finally had fun while I was doing and it felt like I actually can ride my pony. And I am looking forward to riding her even better going forward.
Also just look how cute she is?? Who could ever have a bad time riding the lovely lady Luna

We ended up with a whopping 70 miles this month. Last year our highest was only 50 so we blazed past that. We averaged about 7 miles a ride but yesterday did a 10 mile, which was the longest we’ve done since last year. Unfortunately our main trail has become a little more technical with all the storms so it’s harder trot and canter in a lot of areas without endangering the ponies. Luckily the girls have both been very consistent and have had very minimal silly moments so far. My trail buddy is out of town a few days in august so I doubt we’ll end up with as many miles, but I’m hoping to hit 50 or so. We’re pretty on track to hit my goal of 300 miles this year, and I can’t wait to get more riding done.
