i love your posts but you're really annoying sometimes
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Japanese: ジョジョの奇妙な冒険, Hepburn: JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. It was originally serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1987 to 2004, and was transferred to the monthly seinen manga magazine Ultra Jump in 2005. The series is divided into nine story arcs, each following a new protagonist bearing the "JoJo" nickname. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is Shueisha's largest ongoing manga series by volume count, with its chapters collected in 130 tankōbon volumes as of May 2021.
A 13-episode original video animation series adapting the manga's third part, Stardust Crusaders, was produced by A.P.P.P. and released from 1993 to 2002. The studio later produced an anime film adapting the first part, Phantom Blood, which was released in theaters in Japan in 2007. In October 2012, an anime television series produced by David Production adapting Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency began broadcast on Tokyo MX. As of December 2021, the studio has produced five seasons adapting through the manga's sixth part, Stone Ocean. A live-action film based on the fourth part, Diamond Is Unbreakable, was released in Japan in 2017.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is well-known for its art style and poses; frequent references to Western popular music and fashion; and battles centered around Stands, psycho-spiritual manifestations with unique supernatural abilities. The series had over 120 million copies in circulation as of December 2021, making it one of the best-selling manga series in history, and it has spawned a media franchise including one-shot manga, light novels, and video games. The manga, TV anime, and live-action film are licensed in North America by Viz Media, which has produced various English-language releases of the series since 2005.

List of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure characters
The universe of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a reflection of the real world with the added existence of supernatural forces and beings. In this setting, some people are capable of transforming their inner spiritual power into a Stand (スタンド, Sutando); another significant form of energy is Hamon (波紋, "Ripple"), a martial arts technique that allows its user to focus bodily energy into sunlight via controlled breathing. The narrative of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is split into parts with independent stories and different characters. Each of the series' protagonists is a member of the Joestar family, whose mainline descendants possess a star-shaped birthmark above their left shoulder blade and a name that can be abbreviated to the titular "JoJo". The first six parts take place within a single continuity whose generational conflict stems from the rivalry between Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando, while the latter two parts take place in an alternate universe where the Joestar family tree is heavily altered.
Part 1: Phantom Blood (ファントムブラッド, Fantomu Buraddo)
Volumes 1–5, 44 chapters. In late 19th-century England, Jonathan Joestar, the young son of a wealthy landowner, meets his new adopted brother Dio Brando, who loathes him and plans to usurp him as heir to the Joestar family. When Dio's attempts are thwarted, he transforms himself into a vampire using an ancient Stone Mask and destroys the Joestar estate. Jonathan embarks on a journey, meets new allies, and masters the Hamon (波紋, "Ripple") martial arts technique to stop Dio, who has made world domination his new goal.
Part 2: Battle Tendency (戦闘潮流, Sentō Chōryū)
Volumes 5–12, 69 chapters. In 1938, a German expedition discovers and awakens a Pillar Man, a powerful humanoid whose race created the Stone Mask. The Pillar Man kills the researchers and escapes to awaken the other Pillar Men so that they may regain dominance over humanity by obtaining the Red Stone of Aja. Joseph Joestar, Jonathan's grandson, unites with new allies and masters Hamon to defeat the Pillar Men.
Part 3: Stardust Crusaders (スターダストクルセイダース, Sutādasuto Kuruseidāsu)
Volumes 13–28, 152 chapters. In 1989, Dio Brando (now referred to as "DIO") awakens after his tomb is salvaged from the ocean. Because Dio had managed to capture Jonathan's body, Stands (スタンド, Sutando) awaken in Jonathan's descendants, consisting of Joseph, his daughter Holly Kujo, and grandson Jotaro Kujo. Holly, however, is unable to cope with her own Stand, and has only 50 days to live. Jotaro, Joseph, and their new allies set out to defeat Dio before this deadline expires, and encounter Dio's henchmen along the way.
Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable (ダイヤモンドは砕けない, Daiyamondo wa Kudakenai)
Volumes 29–47, 174 chapters. In 1999, the Joestar family learns that Joseph has an illegitimate son, Josuke Higashikata, who lives in the fictional Japanese town of Morioh. Josuke learns of a mystical Bow and Arrow that bestows Stands upon those struck by its arrowheads. As they hunt down the Bow and Arrow, Josuke and his allies encounter a serious threat in the form of the Stand-using serial killer Yoshikage Kira.
Part 5: Golden Wind (黄金の風, Ōgon no Kaze)
Volumes 47–63, 155 chapters. In 2001, in Naples, Italy, Giorno Giovanna is the son of Dio, conceived while he was in possession of Jonathan Joestar's body. Giorno seeks to become a mafia boss in order to eliminate drug dealers who sell their wares to children. His team, which consists of Stand users, must confront the mafia boss Diavolo and protect his daughter Trish Una, whom Diavolo intends to kill in order to hide his identity.
Part 6: Stone Ocean (ストーンオーシャン, Sutōn Ōshan)
Volumes 64–80, 158 chapters. In 2011, near Port St. Lucie, Florida, Jotaro Kujo's daughter Jolyne Cujoh is framed for murder and sent to prison. She works together with other Stand-using prisoners and her father to hunt down prison chaplain Father Enrico Pucci, loyalist to Dio, who seeks the creation of a new universe shaped to his and Dio's will.
Part 7: Steel Ball Run (スティール・ボール・ラン, Sutīru Bōru Ran)
Volumes 81–104, 95 chapters. In an alternate timeline's 1890, United States President Funny Valentine holds a cross-country horse race with a $50 million reward to the winner. Valentine intends to use the race to gather the scattered parts of a holy corpse for his own nationalistic ends. Racers Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar uncover Valentine's ploy and must defend themselves from his hired assassins.
Part 8: JoJolion (ジョジョリオン, Jojorion)
Volumes 105–131, 110 chapters. Set in the same universe as Steel Ball Run, in 2012, the town of Morioh has been devastated by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, which has caused mysterious faults colloquially known as the "Wall Eyes" to appear in town. Local college student Yasuho Hirose discovers a young man buried in the rubble and nicknames him "Josuke". Suffering from amnesia, Josuke tries to uncover the secret of his past as he is also confronted with the activities of a local crime syndicate, which sells the fruit of a mysterious Locacaca tree, capable of healing people and then "taking" something in return.
Part 9: JOJOLANDS (ジョジョランズ, Jojoranzu) (Tentative title)
In the September 2021 issue of Ultra Jump, Araki confirmed that part 9 of the series, tentatively titled JOJOLANDS, would begin following a short break.

Chapter 29 of Land of Immortals has dropped after a 6 month hiatus! Check it out! Land Of Immortals - Chapter 30 - armesstein - ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 | JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure [Archive of Our Own]
Two pairs of black socks, one pair of black boots, and worn dress shoes had been laid on the bank of the lake, where Polnareff and Merlin waded out with their pants rolled up below their knees. “Now then,” Merlin said, standing perfectly straight and presentable, “when it comes to using hamon, the most rudimentary skill of all is your breathing technique.”
Polnareff scratched his head. “Breathing technique?”
“Correct. You are related to Arthur. I’ve trained every descendant of his, including your father. That being the case, I believe that there is a one hundred percent chance that you’ve inherited some of your father’s potential to be quite the formidable hamon user as well. But first, in order to find out if this is in fact true, I have just the thing in mind for your first practice.”
Ooh, this ought to be good!
Merlin waded out a few steps and spread his legs apart, bringing his feet in alignment with his shoulders. He drew a hand up, making a gesture. “Behold!” Calming himself, Merlin steadied his beating heart and breathed deeply into his nose. Ripples formed around his shins, faintly at first, but then gradually grew bigger and bigger. They were steadily flowing and ebbing around him without a sign of stopping anytime soon. All Polnareff could do was stare in astonishment as the ripples reached him.
How the hell is he doing that?!
Lifting his bare foot out of the water, Merlin placed it atop the surface and pressed all of his weight onto it, like stepping onto a flight of concrete stairs. His body lifted out of the water, the other foot stepping flatly over it. He strode across, coming just a few feet in front of Polnareff. The old bastard really did it! It was as if he was Jesus himself, walking across the top of the lake. Merlin smiled down at him, his hands behind his back.
“Your father perfected this skill quite well when he was young.”
Eager to get a headstart, Polnareff’s excitement got the better of him and he rubbed his hands together. “Well, okay! Let’s do this!”
“Ah, Master Polnareff —”
Before Merlin could finish his sentence, Polnareff lifted his foot out of the cool water and took a step forward, causing Merlin to take a few steps back. As he expected, Polnareff stepped onto the water, confident the surface of the water would support his weight when his prideful expression quickly shifted into a startled yell as he plummeted into the water, causing a loud splash. Poking his drenched head out with a disappointed scowl, Merlin burst into laughter.
“I don’t get it!” he whined. “What’d I do wrong?”
“Zounds, lad, you’re supposed to breeeathe! ”
“But I am breathing!

Disgraced | Kars x (Hamon User) Reader
AU where Kars wins, The reader left at his mercy.
Reader insert // Your name // (Y/n) | Word Count :   737
Thoughts are italics in quotations = ‘Example’
Flashbacks are in italics = Example
- Light SMUT I guess cause These Big Sexy Pillar beasts can get it.
Disgraced
Fixed upon her dumbly pleasured face he grinned, knowing it was all his doing,
"From fierce Hamon warrior to filthy cocksleeve," he murmured, reminding her yet again of their great loss.
The ultimate being held her legs up to his strong, broad shoulders, each thrust coming down on her with a strength that further pulled her from reasoning, ultimately swaying her more towards him.
It pushed away all the former sweet thoughts of Jojo, as well as the equally lovely, yet tragic memory of Caesar.
'Coach Lisa Lisa,' (f/n) thought while briefly remembering the woman she had dearly loved, the same one who had also been like a mother to her, filling a great role in her life along with the two other men.
- All gone.
She could never see them again, never tell them she was sorry for failing, and what was much worse, succumbing to the same being that cut their lives short.
Every bit of her that existed in the past and had resided in her heart with love and tenderness was now being forcibly shoved off by the man until he was all she could think of.
- It was the only way to continue living.
Pain resided in her heart while lower down, a pleasure raked over the rest of her body.
Mindlessly, through the overstimulation that had slowly fogged her mind, she released stray tears, a collection of only three drops that escaped as her body reacted to every hot touch of the fiend claiming her.
" Your breathing is uncontrolled," he told her, his gleaming fangs presented as he grinned, proud to have reduced her into a defenseless, breathless human.
Years of training, which included all that time spent with the damn suffocating mask,
'Gone...' she thought to herself as she could feel the last bits of her former life slip through her fingers like thin, silken threads.
" You're no longer a warrior," he said with mockery, folding her down as he pressed himself to her, his thick, dark painted lips melting over hers with a possessive nature that cried out his rooted desire for her.
She was the last of the decedents which came from the Ripple clan, now existing for his own pleasure, further disgracing the clan for not only their defeat, but their long-existing knelt to him.
And he'd make certain that within the years to come, the image of her beneath him was a repeated occurrence.
He could have anyone and anything in the world now, but of all the things that existed, the (h/c) haired woman was now everything he wanted.
- It's all he had a mind for now.
" Your fertile womb... it exists for my seed," he said while his hands slid beneath her, his warm palms gliding up to her back as he lifted her up, "So take all of me." He added, standing at his full height while he pulled her up, forcing her to hold onto his neck, clinging to him with desperation as she continued to moan, the new angle forcing her to fully fall onto his entire length.
"Take all of your new master, " He told her, cooing with a venomous sweetness as he gave her no other choice.
The sheer helplessness on her face caused him to chuckle as her widely opened eyes then closed, adjusted to the new depths he'd reached, her body then melting, shapeless for him to mold,
"Kars..." she said breathlessly, for a strange reason her heart fluttering.
It reminded him of the first time they'd met, the same awestruck breath leaving her in the past as she caught sight of the being that was meant to be her enemy.
" I love you Kars, " She said while her mind blanked, every bit of her filled with him.
From her past to her present, and future.
He would always be there.
" I exist for you Kars," she added, knowing it was true, cuddling to him in search of happiness.
'You're all I have.'
He hummed as he rutted into her, his violet eyes hidden as he closed them soon after.
His nose fell into her scent, one that pleased him as it now was melded with his, a small, yet existing form of ownership that was notable to only him, yet spoke volumes,
" Your mine, every bit of you mine," he breathed, finally finding his release, the two sticky bodies melted together, sealed with a desperate kiss.

Battle Tendency Liveblog: JJBA Ch. 71-76
Tumblr media
Let the joy of love give you an answer
And I will hold you when you're lost Just walk on to the light 1938 Bizarre Summer Every road will lead us to a memory of
Great Days
Tumblr media
When I started reading the Battle Tendency Manga, one of my goals was to find connections between Part 2 and the others, because I feel like Part 2 is sort of isolated from the rest.   You never hear anyone talk about the Pillar Men in Part 3 or 4, and Joseph Joestar never appears again, save for an entry on a genealogy seen in JoJolion.
But thematically, there’s a lot of connective tissue here.   I already pointed out the scene where Smokey steals Joseph’s wallet in his first appearance, echoing Joseph’s final appearance, where Josuke steals his wallet in Part 4.   And I already mentioned the Italian connection.    Hirohiko Araki’s love for Italy is pretty well-known in the fandom, but only two JoJo parts have the distinction of taking place on Italian soil: 2 and 5.
But there’s other, subtler connections.   Joseph’s Clacker Volley relies on angular momentum, much like the “Spin” techniques used in Part 7.    But then you also have this moment in Battle Tendency where Caesar explains Hamon to Joseph, and compares it to the way a discus thrower spins around to gain distance on his throw.   In the same vein, the fictional Ripple techniques used by all the good guys is just an extension of something natural.    Everyone gains energy from respiration and blood circulation, but Hamon users can amplify that many times over to do amazing things with that energy.    It’s very similar to the lessons Johnny Joestar learns about “Spin” in Part 7.   I never really thought “Spin” had much to do with Hamon, and conceptually they may not be related, but the way they’re presented to the audience is very similar.
Tumblr media
More Part 5 connections, you ask?   Well how about a trip from Rome to Venice?  No assassins on the train this time, so Joseph doesn’t have to steal 100 cars to finish the journey.
Tumblr media
And how about a meeting with a mysterious person wearing a strange disguise...
Tumblr media
Who turns out to be a lady?  What’s weird about this is that when I went through JoJo in order back in 2017, I never noticed the Lisa Lisa/Trish connection.   There was just so much crazy stuff happening in Parts 3 and 4 that I forgot all about how Lisa Lisa debuted.
Tumblr media
So yeah, let’s get back to the main plot.   I mean, I was going to talk about some connections with Part 6, but I seem to be drawing a blank.   Joseph’s parents died when he was very little, so there’s no way for him to have a contentious reunion with an absent parent.    There’s no way for his mom or dad to reveal that they were looking out for him this whole time, but they couldn’t tell him how or why.    I mean, Lisa Lisa kind of reminds me of Jotaro.   They’re both stoic badasses who smoke cigarettes.   But that’s kind of a stretch.
Anyway, Joseph convinced the Pillar Men to let him live for another month so that he could give them a better fight later on.   To hold him to that promise, they implanted poison rings in his body, which will kill him in exactly 33 days, unless he defeats the Pillar Men and receives the antidote.   Caesar realizes that they both need more training to face the Pillar Men again, so he takes Joseph to Venice to meet his Hamon Master, for more training.   That’s Lisa Lisa.
I’m confused as to why Lisa Lisa wasn’t brought in a long time ago.   The plot progression of Part 2 implies that she only heard about this crisis when Caesar contacted her for more training, but we’ll soon see that the Ripple Clan has known about the Pillar Men for thousands of years, just as the Pillar Men knew about them.
Actually, now that I think about it, why didn’t Straizo recognize the Pillar Man in Mexico then?   You’d think he would have taken one look at the guy and said “Oh shit, these dudes are back,” and forgotten all about his dreams of becoming a vampire like Dio.  Maybe Straizo had just lost all perspective by then.  Well, we’ll see if that gets explained later.
Anyway, Lisa Lisa starts the training immediately, by putting a mask on Joseph to control his breathing, which is a vital component of Ripple/Hamon stuff.  One thing Caesar explained to Joseph before they left for Venice is that their Hamon powers were about equal.   The only reason Caesar’s seems stronger is because he’s learned to concentrate it into smaller points, like his fingertips.   Joseph, on the other hand, has to express his Hamon power through his entire hand, which reduces its effectiveness.   Caesar compares this to the spray of water from a water pistol.   The smaller the nozzle, the more powerful the stream.
Tumblr media
As for Speedwagon, well he just flew back to New York.   Joseph forbade him from telling Erina about the bind he’s in, so Speedwagon simply tells her that he’s bumming around Italy for a month.  Meanwhile, Lisa wants the boys to climb the Hell Climb Pillar.
Tumblr media
So the Ripple Clan has this island castle off the coast of Venice, which they built in 39AD to train their students.   This was after the Pillar Men wiped out most of their guys, so I guess they wanted to really ramp up their training for the future.   Lisa opens the front gate and the first step inside takes you into this big pit full of oil, and she just kicks them inside without a word.   Ha ha, Lisa Lisa is awesome!
So the object of the Hell Climb Pillar is just to climb out of the pit.   Except the only way to do that is by clinging to a sheer pillar in the center and ascending 24 meters (about 79 feet).  Oh, and there’s some sort of fountain built into the pillar that keeps it covered with oil at all times.   The only way to make this work is by using Hamon power to cling to the oil and work your way up.
Caesar is familiar with this test, and he at least has a general idea of how to do it, but he’s never attempted it before, and he knows a lot of students have died in the attempt.   The first thing he figures out is that it’s such an exhausting process that if you fall off part way, you won’t have enough stamina to start over, so you really only get one try at this.
He spends most of his climb, however, worrying about Joseph, because Joseph’s Hamon skills are so rudimentary that he doesn’t even know how to cling to the pillar in the first place.   Fortunately...
Tumblr media
Hermit Purple?   In my Battle Tendency?  It’s more likely than you think.   Joseph tries ripping his shirt and fashioning a makeshift rope for himself, but Lisa cuts it with a dagger before he can even try to use it.    I’m somewhat skeptical that this would have worked anyway.   She may have only foiled his attempt for his own benefit.   Joseph might have wasted a lot of precious energy trying to use this trick before giving up and doing it correctly.
Tumblr media
So, after all other options are exhausted, Joseph finally follows directions.  He watches Caesar for a while, then realizes that Caesar has been clinging to the oil with his fingertips, and not his palms.   It looks precarious, but Joseph remembers what Caesar told him about the water pistol and figures out that this is an application of that concept.    So he quickly catches up to Caesar, only to discover that the pillar gets harder to climb around the 18 meter mark.
Around that elevation, the Pillar “protrudes”.   I think that means that it gently widens as you go up, something you can’t really see until you’re already climbing up there.    So now you’re not climbing straight up any more at a 90-degree angle to the ground, you’re more like 95 or 100 degrees, making it that much more of a struggle to hold on.
Tumblr media
But things get even worse when Joseph discovers a small crack in the pillar.   It’s the only handhold on the entire pillar, so he figures he can get a firmer grip on that and rest a bit.   Big mistake, because it’s booby-trapped, and when he touches the crack, it turns on this high-pressure stream of oil at the 20-meter level.   Oil just spews out from all sides of the pillar, and the pressure is so intense that when Caesar sticks a pen into it the oil stream cuts it in half.
Tumblr media
Joseph thinks Caesar is angry at him for his blunder, but Caesar’s actually worried for Joseph’s safety.   He only knows one way to get past the oil stream, and he isn’t sure Joseph has the skill necessary to pull it off.    See, you can use Hamon to cling to the oil, but you can also use it to repel the oil, and protect yourself from the high-pressure stream.   But Caesar now has to use use both of those principles simultaneously.   He has to cling to the pillar while moving through the stream.   He ends up doing this mid-air jump thing, and it works, but now he has to haul ass to get to the top of the pillar.   It’s not just for his own sake, but Caesar feels that he has to convince Lisa Lisa to call off the test to save Joseph’s life.   He doesn’t know how to do the trick Caesar pulled off, and Joseph’s the kind of guy who might get desperate or frustrated enough to do something drastic and get himself killed.   But when he reaches the top, there’s no one around.
Tumblr media
But he needn’t have worried, because Joseph’s drastic idea actually works.    He apparently can’t repel and cling at the same time like Caesar, so instead he just clings.   Instead of passing through the oil stream, he clings to it, sliding across the flow of oil to the edge of the current, then flipping over it, where the pressure is low enough that it won’t hurt him.   Then he bounces off the top side of the oil stream and clings to the outer wall of the pit.
Tumblr media
Everyone is impressed, except the walls of the pit are even harder to climb than the pillar, and Joseph can’t quite make it to the top.    Caesar saves him with just 10 cm to go.
Tumblr media
Joseph is still sore at Lisa Lisa for putting him through all of that, but she tosses him an upside-down glass of water and Joseph is surprised to find that he can hold the water inside the glass with his Hamon, something he couldn’t do back in Rome, when Caesar told him they needed to train.    So now Joseph’s finally on board with all of this, and Lisa introduces the boys to he assistants, Messina and Loggins.   They put Caesar and Joseph through a grueling three weeks of training montage, until finally...
Tumblr media
...They go shopping!  Some guy with a pompodour tries to steal a necklace from Lisa, but she catches him and lets Joseph deal with the guy.   Joseph covers the dude in mustard and then he complains about her carrying around a bright red stone like that for pickpockets to see.    Wait... red stone?  Yeah, it’s the Red Stone of Aja.
Tumblr media
On their way back home, Lisa explains the backstory of the Pillar Men.    They created the Stone Masks to improve themselves, and tested the technology on humans.    No one knows how the Stone Masks work, but the “bones” that jut out of them somehow bring out “latent power” in the human brain and it turns them into vampires.
I never really considered that before, but I suppose the bony spikes in the masks are kind of analogous to the effect of being pierced by the arrows in Parts 4, 5, and 6.  Part 5 offers a partial explanation for the Stand Arrows by saying the heads of the arrows were carved from a meteorite found in Greenland, and there was an alien virus in the meteorite.   You get cut by this metal, and get sick from the virus, and you either recover with a Stand power or you die.   There was a text piece in Part 7 that tried to connect the Stand concept with Hamon, the Stone Masks, and “Spin”, suggesting that the latter three were attempts to achieve what Stands can do, and I guess that makes sense.    Maybe the Stone Masks were the Pillar Men attempting to invent whatever the alien meteor was supposed to do.   Except it’s not as advanced, so it can only do vampires instead of Stands.
Tumblr media
Eventually, Kars’ experiments led him to the discovery of a particular stone that amplifies and focuses light.   He believed that if he could work that into his Stone Mask technology, then he could create a more powerful mask that would bring about greater improvements into his own body.   The problem was that he needed a bigger, more flawless stone than the ones that were available to him.   And that’s why they went to Rome to find one.   The 1st Century B.C. Ripple Clan couldn’t stop the Pillar Men, but they did manage to secure the stone they were looking for, and it’s been in their possession ever since.   Lisa Lisa holds it up to the sun and blows up part of her boat just to show off what it can do.
Tumblr media
Joseph suggests that they just destroy the thing.    After all, it does them no good, and it means everything to their enemies, so why keep it around?   But there’s some legend that says it will be impossible to defeat the Pillar Men if the Red Stone of Aja is destroyed.
This seemed kind of hokey to me at first.   Lisa Lisa even admits that she doesn’t understand what that legend means, but she’s convinced that she has to protect the stone anyway.   But then I remembered Tonpetty, the leader of the Ripple Clan in Part 1.   He taught Will A. Zeppeli how to use Hamon, but warned him that it would lead to Will’s gruesome death.   Presumably, Tonpetty had some sort of gift of prophecy, and maybe it’s not far-fetched to think that others in the Ripple Clan had the same ability.   So maybe someone, a long time ago, foretold the ultimate fate of the Red Stone of Aja, and the Ripple Clan has been following that vague counsel ever since.
This might explain how the Ripple Clan knows so much about the Pillar Men in the first place.    It never made much sense to me how the Pillar Men would travel to Rome and this secret band of warriors would be there ready to oppose them.   It’s also kind of convenient that the Ripple Clan knows so much about the Pillar Men’s Stone Mask research.   I mean, the Pillar Men barely acknowledge humans as it is, so why would Kars deign to explain anything to them?
Now that I think about it, this might be why the Ripple Clan turned to divination in the first place.   Their enemies were so mysterious and their motives so baffling that they may have had no choice but to consult fortune-tellers and psychics for insight.    And, one way or another, they managed to get some solid intel this way.   Kars really was doing R&D on Stone Masks.   He really did go to Rome in search of a “Super Aja”.    Will Zeppeli did die, as Tonpetti warned him.   Kars really did return in 1938, as the Aztec’s predicted.   And it really will be impossible to defeat the Pillar Men without the Red Stone of Aja.    Lisa doesn’t know how that works yet, but she knows it’s true.
But that’s not important right now.   For now, it’s time for Joseph and Caesar to complete their training by heading back to base for a final showdown with their instructors.   Joseph’s final test will be a battle with Loggins, so I assume Caesar has to take on Messina.   But when Joseph shows up for his test...
Tumblr media
He finds two people on the battlefield.   One is Loggins, and the other guy is killing him.
Tumblr media
And yeah, it’s Esidisi.  Who invited him?   Well, Joseph was going to fight him in a week or so anyway, so why put off tomorrow what you can do today?

Spirit of Vengeance
Ghost Rider Jonathan Joestar x female reader
Requested by: anonymous
Ghost Rider Jonathan Joestar who agrees to a deal with the devil to protect his girlfriend and friends from the threat of Dio
Ghost Rider AU
I absolutely love this!
Please enjoy.
Tumblr media
Stories upon stories piled one another endlessly of such things. Crossing palms with the Devil was something that always came with a price that rooted far deeper than what is initially thought of. But when one was overridden and flooded with emotion, it often left them blinded to judgement and a clouded mind to process anything. The Devil was cunning in this sense, seeking out the emotional, grieving and lost; offering them a ripe, red apple but not warning them of the serpent that comes with it.
Jonathan Joestar was one such fool. His concern for those he cared about being targeted by Dio and all his monstrous creations was something that both drove him to become stronger but also blinded him. He had lost his father because of Dio, he had lost his home because of Dio. He lost so much because of Dio Brando, and he was not going to lose his friends nor his beloved [Name].
That night still haunted his memories, the thunderous clouds plaguing the sky, the sharp spats of lightening among them, that unsettling whisper in the wind. Then him. The strange man with the cane, the glass handle of the cane carved to the likeness of a skull. The man’s shadow didn’t seem to match his silhouette though, moving and shifting as if it had a consciousness of its own. That should have been the thing that turned Jonathan away but he ignored it.
The strange man offered him a way to defeat his brother for good and protect his friends from anything Dio sent after them. That was all Jonathan wanted to do. Protect them, protect them as he could not protect his own father that night. So he signed the contract, and the deal was made.
And Jonathan Joestar become the Devil’s Rider.
He didn’t see the strange man after than nor did anything different happen. And he began to believe it was nothing more than a foolish hoax he had fallen for, feeling more of a fool than ever. He, Speedwagon, Baron Zeppeli and [Name] had reached the village with young Poco by their side, a young boy who’s town had fallen to Dio’s corruption.
[Name] held onto Poco protectively, [Eye colour] eyes widen with horror at the sight of the zombies crawling from the ground, Speedwagon holding his sledgehammer in a defensive manner to help protect both her and the young boy while William leaped upwards to attempt to attack Dio. The undead knight rose from his grave, ready to carry out his Lord’s orders. The presence of such evil, such rotten, dark, corrupted, blood-stained souls rose something from within Jonathan. A burning sensation that brushed and coursed beneath his skin, through his veins and inside his bones. Far beyond anything than a simply burn of the skin or warmth of the fire.
Rising higher and higher, bursting free from some hidden box deep within himself, the wildfire erupted from the man, in both a figuratively and literal sense as Jonathan’s entire body erupted into flames, shocking everyone there.
“JOJO!” [Name] screamed, attempting to run towards her lover only to be held back by Speedwagon who was equally devastated and shocked at this. Jonathan’s pained screams as he thrashed about echoed throughout the sky, his skin burning off of his body until nothing but bone was left, and this did nothing to kill him, more like a snake shedding its skin and revealing something much more stronger beneath.
Everyone stared with mixed reactions but this was simply seen as another challenger to the undead knight as he drew his sword and attacked him. The rider jumped away and landed close to the lake, in doing so, the ground beneath him cracked open. Holding an arm out, he curled his hand into a fist and slammed a punch into the ground again, sending a ripple outwards and shaking the structures around them like an earthquake would. From a large crack, another creature emerged, smoke shooting from the exposed holes of its nose on its elongated snout. Burnt skin and exposed bones coated the creature while similar flames that Jonathan held rumbled and thrived from the creature.
Deep, rumbling snarls and barks left the creature, a form of dog. Dio felt disbelief zip through him, recalling something that he had done long ago. Both the flaming skeleton and the burning canine turned to look up at Dio and Jonathan rose his hand up, pointing at the vampire. Empty sockets swirling bottomless pits of anger. Vengeance.
“Danny. Attack.” With a loud snarl, the dog obeyed his master, leaping up at great heights from one rock to another, reaching closer and closer to Dio another nothing more than a bright blur. Jonathan turned his attention to the knight before continuing his attack. His new power outmatching anything that this undead knight possessed. What was a vampire’s undead minion compared to the Devil’s Unholy Rider?
His moves fluent as water, avoiding every strike from the knight’s blade, his own still resting in its holster in Speedwagon’s possession. Holding his hand out towards the blonde man, the sword -as if pulled by some invisible force- unsheathed itself and flew towards its owner. The second the handle touched Jonathan’s palm and his fingers curled around it, flames shot up the blade, radiating from the metal. [Name] stared with unsettled horror at the sight of all this, her mind attempting to try and process what she was witnessing.
The knight stood not even a flicker of a chance as the flame-consumed blade sliced across his throat, removing the head entirely. The head rolled along the ground, a mixture of fear and shock carved into his face before the body crumbled down into dust, leaving nothing behind of him ever being there in the first place. Dio had already fled at this point and Danny returned to his master’s side again as Jonathan returned his sword to its sheath.
Slowly, he turned his hollow gaze towards his friends, who still stood there in shock, William standing in front of Speedwagon, [Name] an Poco protectively, unsure if whatever Jonathan had become was a threat to them as much as the undead was. [Name]’s [Eye colour] orbs almost glowed with concern, not for herself but for Jonathan, even like this, she was worried for him. Small, slow steps were made as he approached them, her. The Baron stood more protectively but [Name] gently placed a hand on his shoulder, shaking her head a little.
“Don’t. Please.” At her words, he stepped down a little but still kept his guard up and she slowly approached the flaming creature. Jonathan stood in front of her, a sense of shame and heartache radiating from him as the flames calmed from raging wildfire to the gentle light of a candle. He shook his head lightly before turning away from her,
“Monster.” He cursed himself quietly. Before he could move away, her hand moved up and grabbed his skeletal hand, the burning fire harmless to her touch. Jonathan would never do anything to harm her nor his friends. She brought her other hand up to his face, making him look at her again.
“No, you’re not, JoJo. You are not a monster.” Her head lightly rested against him, feeling nothing from the flames aside from a loving warmth. Hesitantly, his arms moved around her, holding her close as the flames began to die down, his flesh returning to him as it did to Danny.
The Devil may have taken Jonathan’s soul in exchange for this power but he would never take away Jonathan’s humanity.

In Depth (spoiler free)
🔹 Jojo (Sono Chi no Sadame), Hiroaki Tommy Tominaga
Sono Chi no Sadame is the first opening of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and is truly what sets up the stage for the rest of the series. Jonathan Joestar, being the first Jojo, begins the Jojo legacy in Phantom Blood. The song lyrics heavily foreshadow the future of the Jojo series and describes Jonathan as someone who has honor and always does what is right. Sono Chi no Sadame is a spectacular opening act to the unique concept of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. *side note* Muscially speaking wow this song is incredibly good the crescendoes and frequent tempo changes as well as the instrumentals amaze me- this is easily my favorite Jojo opening.
🔹BREATHE, AB6IX
Hamon (also known as Ripple or Sendo) is a technique that heavily focuses on controlled breathing. Jonathan learned and mastered Hamon in a very short amount of time. BREATHE also has a very light feeling to it, making the song easy to listen to which connects to Jojo as he is a lighthearted and easy going guy.
🔹breathin, Ariana Grande
Likewise as BREATHE by AB6IX, breathin correlates to the Hamon technique that Jonathan used to fight. Adding onto that, Jonathan lived in a grand mansion and was very well off financially. This song has an elegant sound to it. Despite the wealth that he had, Jojo did not have the easiest childhood. Ever since Dio Brando began to live with him, Jonathan saw many mishaps occur with his relationships, reputation, and self esteem. But, Jonathan Joestar never gave up on his morals and values, and he always kept “breathin and breathin and breathin” no matter what, making sure he would always do the right thing.
🔹Silence, Marshmello ft. Khalid
Silence explains and describes Jonathan’s teenage years very well along with his relationship with Dio. Dio coming to live with Jonathan messed him up as Jonathan felt inferior to Dio who was taking the spotlight by being an amazing athlete and intelligent student. This prompted lots of praise from Jonathan’s father and comparing him to Dio constantly, which made Jonathan feel like he wasn’t worth as much. “I found peace in your violence” is a very meaningful line that contributes to Jonathan’s and Dio’s relationship because of the fact that Dio was... an extremely violent person ever since he was a kid and has done crazy evil things to Jonathan, yet Jonathan didn’t really hate Dio because of Jojo’s noble personality- Dio was Jonathan’s “brother,” therefore Jonathan couldn’t hate him. Jojo felt like he had to be silent over Dio’s actions because he didn’t want to spoil the love that his father gave to Dio, again proving how big of a heart Jonathan had.
🔹Dollhouse, Melanie Martinez
Dollhouse is a rather dark song, but is perfect to show off the darker side of Jonathan’s character. As we know, Jonathan is a young man who presents himself as well... perfect. He’s smart, incredibly kind and noble, rich, popular, and athletic. After Dio appeared and started to really turn things around for Jonathan, he had to continue to present the same image of himself even though his home life was becoming a wreck. His own father constantly scolded him and loved Dio to a great extent. “Pose with your brother won’t you be a good sister?” Jonathan knew that Dio’s actions were evil and he had ill intent at such a young age but Jojo had to go along with the act that Dio put on, faking the close brotherly relationship between them.
🔹London Boy, Taylor Swift
Sometimes I forget that Jonathan Joestar is in fact British. London Boy is a song for Jonathan not just because he lives in/by London, but also because the song describes a man who is just so sweet and has a beautiful laugh. The overall song is just so positive and loving towards this English boy. Every time I listen to this song I now think of Jonathan, and a smile always plasters on my face. Taylor Swift also has a lyric talking about watching rugby which reminded me of the iconic Jonathan and Dio rugby scene early in the story. Jonathan is such a respectful gentleman whom everyone just can’t help but fall in love with his lovely English charm.
🔷Line Without a Hook, Ricky Montgomery
After upon listening to this song, I felt like it really gave off Jonathan vibes because of the light but a tinge of melancholy sound to it. Thing song is quite reflective of Jonathan and Erina with the lyrics “I broke all my bones that day I found you crying at the lake” because it reminded me of when Jonathan first met Erina, who was being bullied by a couple of boys but Jonathan risked getting beaten up to stop the bullies from harming Erina. Later, Jonathan was laying on a hill with his dog Danny, feeling quite down because of none other than Dio, but Erina came and dropped off some grapes and his handkerchief and that was what really started off their relationship. The iconic line “she’s a, she’s a lady, and I am just a line without a hook” explains that Erina was Jonathan’s sole happiness in his life.
🔹Fighter, Christina Aguilera
Honestly, Dio really sucked (I still love him *sigh*). He wanted to completely destroy Jonathan’s life and make it absolutely miserable... for what? Well, despite the horrific actions that Dio performed to ruin Jonathan’s reputation and will, that ultimately backfired as Jonathan rose stronger than ever. Of course Jonathan was mad at Dio for his unspeakable actions, but because of him, he was able to have a certain drive where he gained immense strength in a short amount of time. William Zeppeli describes Jonathan as a Hamon prodigy because of how quickly Jojo was able to master it. Jojo was a natural, but again, he had that determination to defeat Dio once and for all. Despite the hardships Jonathan went through as a result of Dio’s decisions, Jonathan did not resent him in the end- Jojo became an extremely powerful individual because of his past.
🔹Classic, MKTO
In order to create a playlist for our favorite gentleman, it’s only necessary that we add a classic gentlemanly song to it! There’s not much of a deep gloomy reason why this song correlates with Jonathan, in fact it’s the complete opposite. Classic is a song that talks about being a classy and polite man, and to put it simply, Jonathan is exactly that.
🔹Win, CIX
From the God of High School soundtrack, Win is a song about fighting and training together as a team. This upbeat song greatly reminds me of the mini team of Jonathan Joestar, Speedwagon, and William Zeppeli all fighting against Dio and his minions together. Jonathan Joestar was not able to fight Dio without a hamon teacher, William, and an incredibly loyal friend, Speedwagon. This trio had great camaraderie and were overall an incredibly adorable and high morale team.
🔹Blue Hour, TXT
Ok so does this song really have a deep meaning or correlation to Jonathan Joestar? Nahhh not really, I just added it as a bit of a bonus. Blue Hour has an almost fairytale like vibe to it and I just thought it would be something that resonated with Jonathan, especially when he was a child. So, enjoy this little serotonin bonus boost!
⚠️Part 1 Spoilers⚠️
🔹We Belong, Ong Seong Wu
Jonathan’s and Erina’s relationship was very short... but sweet. We Belong is an emotional love song explaining how this one guy meets someone who is their entire world, like when Jonathan met Erina. Through Jojo’s darkest times when he felt like he lost everything, Erina was by his side no matter what. Even though their marriage was abruptly ended with the death of Jonathan, it doesn’t disregard the fact that Erina completely loved Jonathan and supported the Joestar family for the future generations to come. Jonathan and Erina truly belonged together.
🔹My Heart Will Go On, Céline Dion
My apologies, I’m absolutely in love with Jonathan’s and Erina’s relationship. My Heart Will Go On automatically reminds me of the last moments of Jonathan. Since the song was a part of the Titanic soundtrack where there’s a romance story and people die on a sinking ship, it really correlates to Erina and Jonathan going on their honeymoon but Jonathan ending up dead on the ship. Everytime I think of either the song or Jonathan’s and Erina’s last moments together, my heart feels heavy. Both the song and the scene are extremely high in emotions and both suit each other quite well.
🔹Needed Me, Rihanna
Dio killed Jonathan so that he could merge with Jojo’s body, and ultimately use it for evil and for power. “Never told you, you could have it,” symbolizes that Dio forcibly took everything Jonathan had, again including his own body. Although Jonathan would probably never say the lyrics of this song to Dio because he’s so noble, externally everyone knows that without Jonathan, Dio would have been absolutely nothing in Part 3.
🔹Glorious, Macklemore ft. Skylar Grey
The song Glorious questions oneself’s purpose in life, the answer being ‘give back to the people.’ Jonathan has proven that he has countlessly sacrificed himself for others, as was seen when he died on the ship and told Erina to take care of the orphaned baby and to “live a happy life.” Jonathan struggled greatly in his short life, but he always had the passion of helping others since he was born to do so.
🌟Conclusion🌟
Thank you for reading through my first ever blog on Tumblr! I hope you enjoyed the playlist and descriptions! Hopefully this playlist blog series will continue with majority of the main Jojo characters- that’s the plan. Have a good day and/or night💓!

Hey, hey! I can request Joseph from part 2? Reader is in love with him but she's too shy to confess to him so she secretly leaves him gifts and poems she wrote about him. I hope it's not problem for you!
Hey there! Sure thing, buddy. I hope this is to your liking!
By the way, the 'poem' I wrote was partly inspired by this wonderful post. (Tell me what you guys think of the poem?)
Tumblr media
Joseph Joestar x Shy! Reader! : Love Poems
You were the quiet girl on the island. The girl no one ever noticed. The pair of eyes who could peek, and the pair of ears that could eavesdrop, without ever getting caught.
You were incredibly shy, which contributed to making you so invisible to everyone. You were easily scared away by strangers, prone to running away at the slightest jump. Disappearing from such strangers was so easy, too, given that you had memorized all of the island's hiding spots by now.
However, there was one person unknown to you that you didn't quite want to run away from.
That person was the handsome American newcomer, Joseph Joestar.
Somehow, his bold, cocky nature endeared you. It wasn't quite like Caesar's, it was more of a brash, loud kind of pride. It practically radiated from the young man, and you had seen that uncontained energy of his explode into uncontrolled waves of passion oh so often.
Joseph Joestar was quite a show to watch.
He had met you only once. That had been when, thinking you were alone, you were dashing down the hallway. Damn JoJo and his silent footwork. You bumped right into his chest, falling back onto your butt with a slight squeak.
JoJo hadn't seen you coming, given how fast you had been running. However, as soon as his brain processed what had happened, guilt contorted his gorgeous features as he gasped slightly. "Oh no!" He dashed to your aid, moving onto one knee in front of you to help you up. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there! Are you all right?"
Of course, you were glowing redder and redder by the second, given how humiliated you were by the situation. But when you saw Joseph's hand enter your field of vision... Oh dear.
"Hey, come now. Are you hurt?" Joseph stared at you, obviously dumbfounded by your red, pouting cheeks. "...I haven't met you before, have I? What's your name?"
"I-I'm all right!" Embarrassment suddenly propelled you to your feet, your delicate hands clutching onto the bottom of your dress tightly as you bowed, unable to meet the man's eyes. "T-Thank you for asking! Goodbye!!"
And off you went, in the opposite direction, leaving a confused JoJo in your wake. His eyes followed your running form as he frowned slightly, tilting his head. "Women are such curious creatures..."
Later that day, over dinner, he had asked Caesar about you. The Italian man had chuckled at his story, offering an amused smile.
"Of course you scared her off, you're so tall and loud. (Y/N)'s been here for a long time now. She's very shy, so we never see her very much. I'm not sure why she's here. Perhaps she is training in the ways of Hamon as well."
The truth was, you had been taken in by Lisa Lisa, a good friend of your mother's, when she died. You had nowhere else to go to, and the Hamon master had known you since you were born. She was one of the few people you talked to on the island, but she was often busy. When you weren't reading your poems to her during her baths, you were usually alone, secretly observing the island's occupants as they trained.
It was a lonely life, which is why you had so much time to write and to craft. Once Joseph came into your life, though, despite how intimidating he could seem, everything you created felt... Different. His energy and goofiness, his great, wide smile, seemed to infect every page you wrote.
You watched him train more often than you watched others train, amazed by his strength and his determination. He improved drastically within the few weeks he had.
His courage to train to go up against these so-called gods awed you. And, ultimately, it inspired you.
You'd be brave, too.
The first time Joseph saw one of your gifts delicately deposited upon his desk, he was fuming. It was a flower. And guess who offers flowers on the island?
Breaking up his brawl with Caesar had been extremely difficult for Loggins and Messina. Flustered by Caesar's supposed prank, Joseph had been in a bitter mood that day.
Despite his initial reaction, you swallowed your fear and pressed on, offering another flower the next day. And the day after that. And the one after.
Joseph, despite his looks, wasn't dumb. He soon realized Caesar had never been the source of these gifts. But then, who was it?
You weren't ready to tell him.
Not until he suddenly left to go after the Pillar Men.
Haunted by the very real possibility of his demise, you had gathered your courage, ready to confess your feelings before he went to face the ultimate warrior, Wamuu. But Lisa Lisa, Caesar and he had gone so urgently that you didn't have the chance.
The next nights were deadly quiet on the island. And yet, you were restless, tossing in your bed over and over.
The only people you knew, the only people you had left, were possibly fighting for their lives and for humanity at that very moment.
Lisa Lisa, your mentor, was fighting.
Caesar, the charming Italian playboy, was fighting.
JoJo, the boy you had come to love, was fighting.
The thought was unbearable. Trying to sleep was unbearable.
And suddenly, you were jumping out of bed, your fingers granted with sudden vigor.
Maybe Joseph Joestar would no longer be real after this night. But your feelings, they'd remain real no matter what.
And they demanded they be written down, so they, along with Joseph's spirit, would carry on endlessly through time.
And so, you wrote.
*****
Joseph came back to the island, battered, a few days later. He had been rescued, stranded at sea upon a huge rock, and his wounds had been tended to.
Even though he cockily shrugged his injuries off, it had taken a few days for him to wake up after his fateful battle against Kars. And when he did, he was greeted by the sight of gorgeous flowers decorating his room, and a bottle of good old Coca Cola on his bedstand, along with a card.
And, despite being Joseph Joestar, Joseph Joestar couldn't help but blush as he read the poem you had written for him.
"The story of Joseph Joestar is one
That is hard to tell. It is a story that is
Full of laughter, yet full of tears,
For it is the tale of a man
Who fought to save the world.
The fate of humanity is reflected
In the ocean of his eyes.
Alive and bright, rippling with energy
And confidence.
He won't give up, no, Joseph Joestar
Will never give up, for he has
The pride of a lion.
And yet, if he does have to go,
If this ultimate quest must take his life,
So be it. But he will be dearly missed,
And his laughter will carry on in
These printed words and in the wind that carries
His last breath.
It will haunt us forever, reminding us of
A future as bright and hopeful as his eyes."

I saw this hc on insta from kerbabbles, and it's abt Zeppeli being Jonababy's father figure (bc George might've messed him up bad bc he was rly strict with jona) so I was wondering if you have any hcs for this hc. Do ya?
Hello!! I’d never seen this artist before when this popped up in my ask box so I checked them out and HHHHGGGNNNN OH MY GOD I’ve gotten a taste of glory that I’m probably never going to get again because part one is horrendously underwritten but Jesus it was an idea that I’d never even thought of but now I can never live without itjjfhgjkghf
I am now a firm believer now that the reason Jonathan punched toxic masculinity down like a sack of potatoes is because of William Anthonio Zeppeli. This man builty his confidence up so much compared to living with Dio for years AND SHOWED HIM THE LOVE HE DESERVES
So you know what I WILL do? Make some wholesome headcanons because I need to dump my thoughts on this matter somewhere. And because Jonathan Joestar needs a gentle parental figure, too :)
(Go check out Kerbabbles on Instagram! They’ve got that good wholesome shit and inspired this ask and this post!)
Alright without further ado:
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
Zeppeli learns by the second training day that raising his voice is a big no-no
-He hasn’t known Jojo for long, but training for the first time is rough
-There’s a lot of methods to Hamon training, especially when you’re first training someone, and he learns pretty quickly that the calm and collected route is the way to go with our boy Jojo
-The moment he starts to raise his voice, even if its out of praise, he can see Jonathan completely stiffen and lose all focus that he initially had
-Jojo just keeps vigorously apologizing each time he’s done it and almost braces himself to get yelled at again
-He refuses to talk about why he reacts this way and Will ain’t gonna lie,,,that shit’s kinda concerning ;-;
-But he makes due with it and makes sure to be chill with praise and criticism alike :)
Jonathan’s perfectionism is surprisingly extremely high
-A bit of a flaw with Jonathan is that he’s not only very wary of things he isn’t perfect at, but he also gets impossibly frustrated when he can’t do them perfectly from the beginning >:(
-He’s like one of those sweet, soft people that could never raise their voice to people they love but get so angry with themselves that they just end up glaring really hard at the ground until they start crying out of pure frustration
-George Joestar fucked him up in that sense
-He was always raised to be perfect at everything he did, and when he wasn’t he would be forced to keep on going until he could or deprive him of things when he couldn’t
-Because of Dio humiliating him at every mistake he made as they were growing up, he’s just fucking terrified of failing in front of other people
-He’ll screw something up and get ready for a barrage of insults only for Will to be like “its okay, just try again”
-It gets to the point where he starts thinking that if he hasn’t disappointed Zeppeli yet, he’s bound to at some point and starts being the one who’s actually the hardest on himself
-When he messes something up, he’ll go without dinner because his logic is ‘if I don’t punish myself then he will and that’s even more shameful’
-It starts to get noticeable and in the end Will is practically shoving a soup bowl into his hand like “son you need to eat” and Jojo is so fucking confused because he didn’t do anything right so how could he possibly earn it?
-It ends up with the two of them arguing over it while Speedwagon and Poco are just sitting there like ;_;
“I don’t need this. I haven’t earned it.”
“You’ve been training all day! Of course, you’ve earned it!”
“I haven’t done a single thing right today! I shouldn’t—”
“You need to eat to keep your strength up.”
“But I don’t—”
“You don’t what?”
“I don’t—deserve it!”
“Who said you didn’t deserve it?”
-And the moment he says that, Jojo gets this look on his face and Zeppeli’s internally like shit fuck and Jonathan absolutely crumbles
-His mind goes back to all those nights growing up that he didn’t earn or deserve dinner that night because he couldn’t master whatever skill George wanted and Dio could do
-Because of course he needs to be punished for being bad and messing up, its the only way he can learn
-Because what other way was there?
“...”
“...you always deserve it.”
-There. Are. Tears.
-Jonathan slurps up his soup like a good boy and THERE ARE TEARS
-And he eats his dinner that night knowing he does deserve it (because Will and Speedwagon won’t stop reminding him <3 )
Speedwagon is asthmatic (and Zeppeli figures this out the hard way)
-He’s always wondered why Speedwagon is basically incapable of learning Hamon because the man seems to have a lot of skill in combat and even more in resilience
-Speedy doesn’t really seem to know either but he said he’s just awful at controlling stuff like his breathing so that must be why
-Will just thinks he’s over-exaggerating for the most part
-Until one really chilly night he wakes up to someone gasping for air
-He creeps over and realizes its Speedwagon and tries to get him to regulate but he just keeps gasping that he can’t
-He thinks its a panic attack of some sort and tries to reassure him that he can and it's alright but it doesn’t help and he comes to the realization that Speedwagon literally cannot breathe
-He props our boy Speedy up and and rubs his back to help him actually fuckin’ breathe and does some cool Hamon ripple shit and JONATHAN AND POCO SOMEHOW ARE JUST ABLE TO SLEEP THROUGH THIS
-After coughing a significant amount, he’s finally stabilized and Will’s like “bro what the fuck was that” because Speedy just seems absolutely cool with it
-”Oh, I told you I couldn’t breathe sometimes, didn’t I?”
-Hggnnn he didn’t think the man meant it literally
-He can’t really teach him Hamon, but he does the next best thing: use his Hamon to protect his homie :)
The king of keeping calm >:)
-Yes he is the calm dad friend. Yes he will use this to his advantage
-Sometimes Jojo gets too worked up about everything and focuses so hard on breathing that he forgets how to breathe entirely and our man is there to help
-Breathing exercises? Yeah. Meditating? Hell yeah. Sometimes just being the one to hug you and say that everything is going to be okay? MEGA HELL YEAH.
-Between:
Speedwagon: a known freak-outer
Jonathan: who’s been living in the Joestar mansion his entire life and doesn’t have a shred of street smarts
And a literal CHILD
he needs to be doing damage control all the damn time
The dad energy is impeccable
-He was a father, after all. He’s good at what he does
-BEST HUGS HANDS DOWN. Just looking at this man gives off good hug vibes :)
-Is the oldest and most experienced in the group and is always down to drop some sick wisdom
-The dad ‘stache
-Jonathan laments about the looming Dio confrontation a lot and doesn’t sleep as much as he should, but Will is always there to stay up with him
-George never had time to talk about things like feelings, but Jonathan notices that Zeppeli actually...wants to?
-Will claims it’s good for your lungs to get stuff off your chest, but Jonathan is really taken aback when the man starts asking him about how he’s feeling and why
-Before he knows it he’s spilling over and telling him EVERYTHING
-Good cry. Good hugs. Good, cathartic time
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
As if I thought I couldn’t get anymore feral with my headcanons. This takes the fucking cake, I think. I’m so feral for phantom blood found family now you don’t even KNOW
Thanks for bearing with me. My ask box is open if you have some good ol’ headcanon questions (or if you just wanna come say hi hehe <3)

JJBA What If
(What if Dio did use the mask on Jonathan?)
-Dio had gone out, disgusted with himself for picking up his father’s drinking habit, bumping into two drunks.
-He dispatched the first one with ease, an idea popped into his head, to test the mask on the other bloke. No one would miss him.
-But before he could, the other drunk, who was mortified over his friends death and began to run. Dio decided it would be best to simply dispose of the man before he squealed. The mask left untested.
-the confrontation at the Joestar mansion occurred the same as before but with an alteration. The cornered Dio threw the mask on Jonathan and spilled his blood on the mask. Resulting in the mask activating.
-The shock of the action distracted the police and allowed for Dio to escape.
-but what Did didn't know is that Jonathan was still alive, in fact. He had become a vampire.
-The police were helpless as Jonathan, who was blinded by his rage at Dio Slaughtered them without a thought.
-But what snapped him out of it was his father jumping in front of him, taking a hole in the chest.
-Jonathan was horrified at what he had done. He had killed his father.
-But his father didn't blame him. He just wanted his son to be back to who he was.
-He died that night. Jonathan, unfamiliar with what he had become. He felt himself drawn to the blood of his father. Drinking it. Much to the shock of Speedwagon.
-After this tragedy, Jojo stood up, his father’s blood had helped his mind clear.
-”The poison in my father’s body would have killed him in a matter of days, even if we gave him treatment. It does not effect me, as I am no longer human. I will make Dio Pay for what he had done.”
-Jonathan was now a vampire. But he swore he would never harm an innocent again.
-”Speedwagon, should I ever lose myself like that. You must make sure I die. I will not become a monster over this quest.”
____________________________________________________________________
-Dio had a back up plan. He knew in case of things going south, he should have money to escape. So he had loaded up a few thousand notes and some valuables he could sell for more. He still had his education, and his strategic mind. Jonathon was dead, and he need not worry about anything else.
______________________________________________________________________
-Unfortunately for Jonathan, Will Anthonio Zeppeli was on his trail looking for the mask.
-While out searching for Dio, he encountered the Ripple Master.
-Zeppeli could tell that Jonathon was no longer human and possessed the mask.
-Jonathon found that he was woefully unprepared for this skilled fighter.
-At first Zeppeli had been hitting Jonathan with blows and despite being human was overpowering the mighty vampiric Jojo.
-Jonathan did not want to fight the tough old man, but he needed to find Dio and he refused to be bested.
-Jonathan began to understand the power of Hamon, and found his way of countering it. (as Jonathan being a strategic fighter) Found a means of besting the old man.
-In a drag out fight. Zeppeli was bested, But Jojo spared the old man.
-Zeppeli could see that despite no longer being human, Jonathan still retained his humanity. Zeppeli conceded. Knowing that Jojo was no monster.
-Jonathan had given Zeppeli the mask, and left. Telling him that the mask is nothing but evil and that he can do what he must with it.
-Zeppeli found himself conflicted. He had found someone that the mask didn't corrupt. Truly, this Jonathan Joestar was a Phenomenal being.
_______________________________________________________________________
-Dio had found word that Jonathan Joestar was still alive. He did not want to abandon London, but did prepare for that contingency, should things go wrong.
-He decided to send assassins and killers after the noble born hero, in hopes of being finally rid of him. But those assassins never returned.
-He had sent a spy to look into why his attempts had failed and Dio had found a horrifying revelation. Jonathan had become a vampire!
-It was an absolute nightmare, he had created a monster. A monster that wants revenge! He needed to best him. Dio would find a means of ending him once and for all.
_______________________________________________________________________
-Jonathan found Himself on the receiving end of Monster hunters. Some of which had means that could hurt him.
-Jonathan developed skills to counter them, (getting stronger much like he did with Ripple, but with his Vampiric skills.)
-Jonathan ended up drinking the blood of criminals and murderers only. When he was running low, he would buy blood transfusion bags. Or drink animal blood. It wasn't ideal, but he adapted.
-Erina ended up being saved by Jonathan, when Jack the Ripper attacked her. Erina finding herself falling in love with Jojo once again. She accepted his vampiric form, as she knew he was no monster.

Fandom: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Pairing: Joseph Joestar x Hamon User!Reader
Word Count: 1952
Summary: During dinner that same evening, Joseph lays the flirting and the innuendos even heavier on the reader before “sealing the deal.”
Tumblr media
A few more hours of training had come and gone.
For you, it was just another typical day of meditation and basic Hamon training. Absolutely nothing eventful had happened today, besides that one moment of weakness. With that in mind, you expected nothing eventful to happen anytime soon.
The same could not be said for Joseph. That day featured far more work than what was expected of him, as he did four-hundred laps around the lawn rather than the typical two-hundred. This was more than him just preparing to fight the Pillar Men. This was him willingly trying to prove himself to Loggins.
He was ready to go that far and beyond for you.
Now, nobody was quite expecting you to show up to the dining room that night, but there you were. And it was just Joseph’s luck that there was an empty seat right in front of him.
You took your place and faced him.
This was the first time you got to see him without the Ripple-breathing mask, and what a sight he was to behold. Who knew that those lips, which had teased and flirted with you so much, looked so soft and plump? That grin on his face was likely always so cheeky and flirty, but now that you could actually see it, it made your heart race a little.
Like Hell if you were going to let him in on that, though.
”Joseph Joestar,” you said, smirking at him.
“Looks like we meet again, lo-!”
“Ah, Bellissima!”
His and your attentions were suddenly occupied by another familiar voice.
Sitting next to him was the other young Ripple student on the island, who smiled coyly at you, with his head resting against his hand.
“I see you finally decided to come to dinner,” he continued. “We were just starting to get worried about you. Weren’t we, Joseph?”
“Hey Caesar!” you said, smiling back at him.
Tension was already rising between you and Joseph, so you were grateful for his interruption.
Somebody else, on the other hand, was not happy about this at all. As much as he cared for Caesar as a fellow student, how dare he just flirt with you so casually. You two didn’t even look good together!
All these thoughts in Joseph’s head were made very evident to Caesar when he suddenly felt a needle-like stare pinning holes in the side of his head.
Not being in the mood to start a quarrel with him that evening, the blonde focused his attention on the plates of food being set in front of everyone at the table.
“I must say, the cook really outdid himself this time,” he commented. “This looks like it was made by a professional.”
“Oi, it really does!” Joseph admitted, looking like his usual, excited self.
Suddenly, he made a complete 180 and looked straight at you, with his eyes hooded just so and his voice bordering on a moan.
“But I bet it tastes even better.”
He gave his bottom lip a little lick.
Your eyes widened and heat rose into your face.
Silence permeated that corner of the room as the two of you just stared at each other, feeling the heat start to rise. That was all you really could do, considering the masters were conversating and eating amongst themselves at the other end of the room.
After all, what would they have thought if the two of you suddenly gave in right there in front of God and everybody?
The third wheel cleared his throat.
“Well, what are we staring at? Master Lisa Lisa didn’t give us this food for our own viewing pleasure. Mangia!”
All three of you simultaneously picked up your silverware and started eating.
Joseph was right about one thing; it really did taste better than it looked, even though you all knew damn well he wasn’t implying the food. Nevertheless, your compliments were to the chef that evening.
As a side note, the downside to sitting in front of a freed Joseph Joestar was that, now that he knew you had a weak spot for his lips, he was about to use them to their fullest.
“Tell me, love!” Joseph finally said, directing his voice at you. “How was your training today?
“Oh, pretty typical,” you admitted, then you added on with a grin. “Meditation was rather nice, today. In fact, I don’t know why, but I feel like I’m particularly full of energy after that.”
On that last sentence, your hand patted against your breast ever so softly. Judging by one set of eyes now staring at your cleavage, you knew that your own little plan was working.
Two can play at that game.
“What about you, Caesar?” you asked, giving the brunette a moment to plan his next move. “How was your training, today?”
“Well, Messina had me anchored underwater with a large weight today,” he said, using his fork like a pointer. “He said it was to increase the size of my lungs so I can breathe more effectively. Or something like that. Forgive me, I’m a little too tired to remem-… Joseph, what the hell are you doing?”
The sudden interruption led you to shift your gaze from Caesar to Joseph, whose tongue was out and trying to lap up the wine from his cup like a dog.
Outstanding move, Mister Joestar.
“Oh, uhm,” Joseph stammered before immediately regaining his composure. “Forgive me. I think the heat from running four-hundred laps around the lawn today has gone to my head.”
“Are you sure it’s just heat that’s gone to your head?” Caesar mumbled.
You had to cover your mouth to prevent yourself from audibly giggling. That phrase, coupled with the glance he made towards his lower half, was too good.
“Hey now, what are you trying to say?!” Joseph blurted out.
All Caesar did was smirk at his expense.
“Hmph, say what you want,” he said as he turned his head away from his comrade. “I was just about to say that I feel as though I really should practice more Hamon Meditation. Today’s session was... rather motivating.”
“You have about another week of training, don’t you?” you asked, suddenly getting a little more serious. “You’re more than welcome to practice with me at any time, you know. The same goes for you, Caesar. It’ll help the both of you more than you realize.”
The mention of the other guy’s name made a spike of jealousy suddenly fall upon Joseph, and so he had to rectify it immediately.
“Actually,” he blurted out before trailing off into a stammer. “Well, see, there’s not enough time. Loggins makes me practice for hours upon hours. So, well… ah, do you think we could… we could…?”
His concentration was getting hazier by the second. He thought that bringing this up was going to be easier on him, but in this moment, he was getting performance anxiety.
What if you were to say no?
“You want to practice after dinner?” you finished his sentence with a smile. “I would love to!”
Joseph’s mind was screaming and cheering in rejoice at your acceptance.
“When you put it like that,” he said, sliding immediately back into his flirty persona, “It’s like you wanted the same thing! Why, could this be a first date?”
“Oh, you wish, Joestar!” you laughed.
If only you knew what you had just gotten yourself into.
“Right back at you,” he chuckled.
With that said, Joseph stood up.
“Now, if you’ll both excuse me, I have a date to prepare for.”
He made his way towards the masters’ table and approached Master Loggins, who proceeded to pull out the Ripple-breathing mask and situate it back over his nose and mouth.
You weren’t going to admit it, but you were a little disappointed to see his lips disappear behind the mask again. On the bright side, you really did have something to look forward to after all the training was said and done.
Before Joseph was out the door completely, he gave you a side glance and winked coyly at you, which made your heart pick up the pace in turn.
With that, he was gone.
Then there were two.
“Well then,” Caesar commented. “That sure was a sight to behold this evening, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah,” you admitted, your eyes still towards the door.
He took a swig of wine before speaking.
“I would be careful, if I were you.”
Your gaze broke from the door and fell on him.
“What do you mean? I wouldn’t know him to hurt anyone here, let alone me.”
“Oh, no, no, no!” he chuckled. “He’d die before laying a finger on you… But if you ask me, I think he’s up to something this evening.”
“What makes you think that?”
Caesar leaned in closer to you before he elaborated in a lower voice.
“Did you notice how Loggins was whispering in his ear while he was securing the mask back over his face?”
“I noticed, but didn’t think anything of it.”
“You aren’t here for meals all that often, but I am. And after watching the same routine for the past two weeks, I know that Loggins never does that with Joseph. On top of that, Joseph usually gets all fussy about the mask, but tonight, he was rather calm about it…”
“So, what are you implying?”
“Well,” he hummed. “Knowing Joseph, I say he’s planning to pull a prank on you, and he somehow convinced Loggins to help him.”
“A prank, huh?”
In your mind, that made a lot of sense. Why else would Joseph suddenly find himself stumbling to ask you to practice with him after dinner?
Oh, if only you knew how bad things really were about to be.
“What should I do then?”
Caesar leaned back into his chair with a confident hum.
“You’re a smart girl. And your beauty has a tight grip on him. I’m sure you could figure out a way to get back at him.”
You smiled in appreciation at his remarks, and silently thanked God for having a friend like him on this island.
After all, if it weren’t for him, so much more might’ve gone down that evening.
A few minutes later, you were both finished with dinner and had thanked the masters for the meal that night. With that done with, you two walked out the door, bade each other goodnight, and separated to different hallways.
During the five-minute walk to your room, you thought up many different ways Joseph might prank you, and you thought up many different ways you were going to combat it.
“I’ll have time to prepare the prank before he shows up,” you thought. “He’s not going to catch me off guard this time.”
All these thoughts of vengeance and planning died down when you approached the door and noticed something a little concerning.
You always made sure to close your door all the way. Why was it open just a crack?
There was only one real explanation.
You slammed the door wide open, ready to attack, but as quickly as your guard had went up, it went just as quickly down with the sight laid out before you.
Out of the corner of your eye, you spotted two things in the corner; a Ripple-breathing mask and a crumpled-up undershirt, both of which look like they were thrown over there in a hurry.
More importantly, however, was the centerpiece of the room. A shirtless, musclebound figure was posed in a chair that faced the doorway. His eyes were staring hungrily into yours and his smirk was perfectly visible in the pale moonlight.
You were nearly breathless.
“J… Joseph…?”
“Hello, love.”

i want to get into jojo, but i dont know where to start lol, do you think you could summarize it:?
ok ok so despite what people say, my friend gave me a flash drive with all of part 3 (stardust crusaders) on it, and after that i watched 4 and 5 and then went back to 1 and 2 and god i’m terrible at explaining but I’ll try my best lol
Anyways tbh,,, each part can be watched on their own since they all have a different protagonist and plot/setting. I don’t recommend watching it completly out of order (like 4->2->5->etc) but recurring characters from other parts are present so you may not fully understand their importance at first.
SO it’s very long like not as long as homestuck but maybe a tier or two below so I’m going to go over the main aspects of each parts below with a copied-pasted summary from the wiki in italics and a better understanding underneath:
Warnings: gore heavy, sexual assault, I’ll add more as I think about it (i’m sorry it’s almost 1am here)
Some good ol’ vocab
Hamon/Ripple: a technique used in the early parts of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Through the use of controlled breathing, the user can fill their body and attacks with sunlight energy, making it very effective against Vampires, Zombies, and Pillar Men.
Stands:  a visual manifestation of life energy, unique to the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series. It generally presents itself as a figure hovering over or near the user and possesses abilities beyond that of an ordinary human, which, depending on the Stand User, can be wielded for good or evil.
Part One: Phantom Blood (9 episodes)
In 19th-century England, a youth named Dio Brando is adopted by the wealthy George Joestar to repay Dio's father for seemingly saving his life. Jonathan Joestar, who aspires to become a gentleman, finds himself shunned by his family and friends as part of Dio's plot to take the Joestar fortune for himself.
This is the beginning of JJBA. Each protagonist of each part is nicknamed “JoJo” (i.e. Jonathan Joestar), so like it’s the protag’s bizarre adventure, and they are super weird!!!
Anyways Dio is Jonathan’s adoptive brother, and he’s like just pure evil and is the antithesis of Jonathan and later he becomes a vampire. Jonathan meets a man who teaches him Hamon/Ripple which he tries to use against Dio.
Part Two: Battle Tendency (17 episodes)
Taking place in 1938-39, the story follows the misadventures of Joseph Joestar (a.k.a. JoJo), grandson of Jonathan, as he masters his innate Ripple abilities in order to combat hostile, ancient super-beings named the Pillar Men, creators of the Stone Mask that plot to become the ultimate lifeforms.
Joseph is Jonathan’s grandson, so this shows that this series follows the JoJo bloodline (so like descendants of Jonathan) and their misadventures. But yeah like the summary above states, Joseph also learns Hamon/Ripple (it’s the same thing idk why it has two names).
Part Three: Stardust Crusaders (48 episodes)
Jotaro Kujo and his friends as they journey from Tokyo to Cairo to save his mother's life by defeating his family's resurrected archenemy, DIO.
OK the concept of Hamon/Ripple here is just, completly removed lmao and in my opinion i think it’s better. Hamon is replaced with Stands, which many characters have. Jotaro Kujo is Joseph’s grandson, so again, follows the bloodline. HEY I LOVE THIS PART!!!! The majority of the story takes place in south Asia, the Middle East, and Egypt which is great bc i’m brown and it’s nice to see some rep in anime even if it’s not the main focus lol ANYWAYS sorry for the tangent just if anything I recommend starting with Stardust Crusaders since Jotaro is kind of the mascot of JJBA, but of course up to you
Part Four: Diamond is Unbreakable (39 episodes)
Takes place in the summer of 1999 in Morioh, a midsized japanese town. Jotaro Kujo has come to visit for two reasons. One, to meet Josuke Higashikata, Joseph Joestar's illegitimate son. And two, to find a serial killer, and figure out how he got a stand.
Parts 4-6 explore the Stand concept in depth, where they came from, why certain people get a stand while others don’t, etc. while also havinf their own plots aside from that. Part 4 is more slice of life-ish but of course still has it’s fair share of gore and sadness, but compared to others I personally think it has a more uplifting endings than the other parts which is great bc Josuke deserves the world
Part Five: Vento Aureo aka Golden Wind (39 episodes)
Set in 2001 Italy, the story follows Giorno Giovanna and his dream to rise within the Neapolitan mafia and defeat the boss of Passione, the most powerful and influential gang, in order to become a "Gang-Star". With the aid of a capo and his men, and fueled by his own resolve, Giorno sets out to fulfill his goal of absolving the mafia of its corruption.
This is the season that just ended (summer 2019). Giorno is actually Dio’s son, but is still considered to be part of the JoJo bloodline because of.... spoilers. ANYWAYS this is kind of where jjba becomes more “feminine” in lack of a better word; with its floral/art imagery and Giorno not being as masculine as the other parts’ protagonists. Anyways i cried.
Part Six: Stone Ocean
In 2011, Florida; Jolyne Cujoh, daughter of Jotaro, is wrongfully accused of a crime she didn't commit and sent to a maximum security prison. While imprisoned, she struggles within a longstanding plot agreed between dead villain DIO and ideologue Enrico Pucci.
Here is our very first female jojo (wow gif) but let me tell you all the female characters in this part are so badass and powerful in their own ways it’s just... wrow. This part isn’t animated yet but hopefully will be bc I need to see Jolyne or else I will die.
Part Seven: Steel Ball Run
Set in the U.S. in 1890, the story follows Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic ex-jockey, and Gyro Zeppeli, master in a mystic art named the Spin, as they compete with a vast number of others in the Steel Ball Run race: a mad-dash across America for a grand prize of 50 million dollars.
Steel Ball Run describes a new continuity apart from that detailed in Part 1-6 of the series. On top of core features to JoJo such as Stands, the story is marked by many references to the original series.
Legit I just finished reading this in the last week and it is a fan favorite. I’m still processing everything that happened honestly kjsdhfsjkdhfj but yes it’s good 9/10 imo. Anyways this is on a different timeline from parts 1-6 because of the events that happened in Stone Ocean.
Part Eight: JoJolion
The story begins in 2011 and follows Josuke Higashikata, a young man afflicted by retrograde amnesia, in his search to uncover his identity in Morioh Town, a coastal Japanese town affected by the Tohoku earthquakeW. However, his digging pulls him and his adoptive family into the unfinished business between his previous life and an impending inhuman threat.
I haven’t read this part yet but i will, but know that this part is in the same timeline as Steel Ball Run.
OK THANK U FOR READING i didn’t do any of my hw and I’m going to sleep now but I hope this helps!!! IM SO SORRY IF THIS IS MORE THAN YOU WANTED I’m just extra and hopefully this can be summed up in a better way but yeah: that’s jojo’s bizarre adventure in a nutshell.

Battle Tendency Liveblog: JJBA Ch. 65-66
Tumblr media
This is the start of the “Ultimate Warriors from Ancient Times” arc, but I want to focus on these two chapters because they feature Mark.   I’ve got a lot to say about Mark under the cut, but the short version is that he’s a lousy Nazi and he deserves everything that happens to him.
Tumblr media
A large chunk of Chapter 65 is just Caesar hanging out in Joseph and Speedwagon’s hotel room.   They try to play cards, but they’re both cheats.  This wouldn’t bother me at all until Speedwagon points out that he’s been here for eight hours, and never bothered to explain why.   You’d think Joseph would have demanded an answer a long time ago, since he’s not known for patience.
As it turns out, Caesar’s been waiting for Mark, a buddy of his in the German Army.   Stroheim was in the German Army too, and he told Joseph that the Nazis had discovered three other Pillar Men in Rome.   That’s why he and Speedwagon came here, after all.    Well, Caesar’s an Italian, and Italy and Germany are allies, so Caesar managed to persuade the Germans (through Mark) to let him take a look at the Pillar Men.    So in this chapter, Mark rolls up in a car and drives them over to the site.
Tumblr media
But we already know what happened at the site in Chapter 64.   The Pillar Men have already reawakened, and all the Nazi soldiers stationed there have been slaughtered.   When Mark leads our heroes into the catacombs, they find the remains of the Germans, while Mark bumps into the Pillar Men themselves.  (Note: the above image is not to scale).
Tumblr media
The thing is, bumping into the Pillar Men is hazardous to your health.    We saw that vampire grab Santana and large chunks of his body were completely absorbed.   The same thing happens to Mark, only faster, because Wamuu doesn’t even slow down as he walks past him.    He just walks right through Mark and half of his body is gone.
Tumblr media
So when I first watched the JoJo anime, it was right after I watched the Hellsing Ultimate anime, and I got a kick out of seeing two completely different anime takes on vampire lore.   Let’s face it, the Pillar Men are presented as something beyond mere vampires, but they’re basically just super-vampires, not so different from Alucard in Hellsing.    And both make use of the Nazis, except in Hellsing, the Nazis are the villains, while in Battle Tendency, they’re kinda sorta allies.  Stroheim is clearly a bad guy, because he killed his prisoners and tormented Speedwagon, but Mark is presented as a completely sympathetic person.   He’s got a sweetheart back home, Caesar’s the one who introduced them, and he’s planning to get married the next time he goes back to Germany.   And for his very brief appearance in JJBA, he’s completely friendly and helpful to the heroes.   We’re supposed to feel very sorry for him when he gets killed here.
Part 2 is my favorite, but I think this stands out as it’s biggest flaw.   I get the idea.    Hellsing was dealing with a lot of dark themes, and the protagonists were horrifying in their own right.   So Kouta Hirano used the Nazis as villains to humanize his vampire characters.    By contrast, Hirohiko Araki seems to be using the Nazis to dehumanize the Pillar Men.   They’re so evil that even the Nazis look halfway decent by comparison.   At least the Nazis are human, with human loves and fears and honor.    The Pillar Men kill Mark without even noticing him, and Speedwagon likens this to a human stepping on an ant.     I get what Araki is trying to do here, but it rings hollow.    Fuck Mark, and fuck his Nazi fiance.  The first time we see him, we get a close up of his Iron Cross medal, with the damn swastika in the middle of it.    We’re supposed to buy into the idea that he’s “one of the good Germans”, and it’s 1938, so World War II hasn’t officially started yet, so somehow Mark is supposed to be cool.   But no, I don’t buy it.
Let me go off on a little sidebar and try to explain how we got here.   Battle Tendency was published in 1988.   Back then, Hitler had been dead for decades, and Germany had been partitioned into two countries, East and West Germany.   The Nazis seemed to have been consigned to the dustbin of history, and as time passed, pop culture grew more comfortable using the Nazis as historical villains in stories like this one.    There was a sense that yeah, the Nazis were really bad, but they were gone now, and they would never come back.   I think there was a similar mentality surrounding the Soviet Union after the U.S.S.R. dissolved.    By the 2000′s there were all sorts of internet memes about Nazi stuff and Soviet stuff and it was rationalized as harmless envelope-pushing.
The problem is, it doesn’t seem so harmless in 2021, when Russia is a autocracy that meddles in U.S. elections, emboldening white nationalists in the process.   The “alt-right” fanatics who marched in Charlottesville in 2017?   The rioters who stormed the Capitol building this past January?   Those assholes probably wouldn’t call themselves Nazis, but neither did the Nazis.   They called themselves “National Socialists”, because they were trying to make their ugly policies sound more legitimate.   The same holds true for “alt-right”, “economic nationalist”, “Qanon”, “truther”, and so on.   They’re just new labels for the same old horseshit.
I don’t want to judge Battle Tendency too harshly, because it’s the product of a different time, an era when people could at least pretend that Nazism was one of the few problems that we didn’t have to worry about any more.   The same mentality can be found in Hellsing.   The Nazis in Hellsing are definitely villains, but the conceit is that they’re all immortal vampires or werewolves, because that’s the only way the Nazi menace could possibly exist in 1999.    Otherwise, they’d all be dead of old age.   Battle Tendency is set in 1938, so it takes the liberty of presenting sympathetic Nazis, because we already know they’ll be defeated in the end, right?   We might as well see what makes them tick.
Araki may have thought that using Nazis in a story set in the 1930s would be no different than using Napoleonic French soldiers in a story set in the 1800s.  And in the long run, that might be true, but I don’t think we’re there yet.   In the here and now, it’s aged rather poorly.
Of course, just because Caesar and Joseph feel bad for Mark doesn’t mean I have to.   And Araki may have been more self-aware than I’m giving him credit for.    Nazi Germany wanted to set itself up as the Master Race, and in this fictional world, the Pillar Men have come to do the same thing, only they’re much, much further ahead of the game.   I think part of the point of Stroheim and Mark was to contrast the Nazis’ supreamcist attitudes with Kars’ ambitions.   For all of Stroheim’s boasting, he’s helpless against Kars’ might.   But at the same time, for all of Kars’ power and brilliance, he’s ultimately chasing the same pipe dream as Hilter and his followers.
Tumblr media
Let’s get back on track.    While the good guys react in horror at what happened to Mark, the Pillar Men just stand around nearby and discuss their situation.   They completely ignore our heroes, just like they ignored Mark.   Kars wants to locate the Red Stone of Aja, because it’s the secret ingredient to the mask he designed that will make them immune to sunlight.   Esidisi doesn’t understand how the stone helps their plan, but he’s totally on board.    But as they head out, Wamuu suddenly attacks Kars, because Kars stepped in his shadow, and apparently Wamuu just lashes out at anyone who does this, friend or foe.
Wamuu is deeply sorry for this, and begs to be punished, but Kars apologizes instead, because he knows about Wamuu’s whole shadow thing and he feels that he’s the one who made the mistake here.  I really love this exchange, because it defines the Pillar Men so well.    As indifferent as they are to human lives, they respect one another a great deal.   Kars is the leader, but he still treats the other two guys like close associates.    He needs Wamuu’s sharp senses and keen warrior instincts.   Meanwhile, Wamuu and Eisidisi practically worship Kars like a god.   They’ve literally followed him around the world and across thousands of years in pursuit of his vision.
Tumblr media
So yeah, if the goal here was to use Mark’s suffering to make me hate the Pillar Men, it doesn’t work.  The Pillar Men are evil, sure, but they’re pretty cool bad guys.   On the other hand, Mark looks ridiculous here, with Caesar holding and talking to half of his body.   This looks like something out of a Tex Avery cartoon.
I mean, let’s set aside the whole Nazi thing for a moment.   Why should I feel sorry for Mark?  Because he’s in pain?   He got cut in half!   He should have died instantly!    Because he was going to get married?   We only met this guy one chapter ago!   Because he’s Caesar’s friend?  Well Caesar’s kind of a jerk too.
Anyway, Mark begs Caesar to kill him and end his suffering, so Caesar uses the Ripple to stop his heart.    Or the half of it that’s still there, I guess.
Tumblr media
Okay, so the whole point of Mark’s death is to really get the good guys fired up to battle the Pillar Men, right?    Okay, Caesar tries to take them on, and he opens with the Bubble Launcher, the same move he talked about earlier.   It didn’t beat Joseph, but Caesar’s Hamon power does hurt Wamuu’s skin, which is more than Joseph managed to do against Santana.
The Bubble Launcher is supposed to surround the opponent with dozens of soap bubbles charged with Hamon energy.  Wamuu can’t escape without touching them and getting hurt.   But Wamuu just sprouts all these long braids from his head and clothes, and swings them around with superhuman precision to know the bubbles away without hurting himself.
As it turns out, these Pillar Men are familiar with Hamon.   Santana was surprised to encounter Joseph Joestar’s powers, but Wamuu and the others have fought Ripple users in the past.    And Wamuu’s more intrigued than worried...
Oh, as one final aside, on the car ride to the catacombs, Speedwagon asked Caesar if he tried to use the Ripple to destroy the Pillar Men before they woke up, and Caesar explains that it didn’t work while they were in their dormant state.   Remember, at the very start of this story, Speedwagon called Straizo because he wanted someone to use the Ripple to destroy Santana before he could wake up.   Now we see that even if Straizo had agreed to his request, it wouldn’t have done any good.   Sunlight doesn’t seem to kill the Pillar Men so much as it makes them turn to stone, and the Ripple only hurts them while they’re flesh and blood.   So the only way to kill them seems to be by using Hamon in a direct confrontation, and that’s a tall order...

Jonathan Joestar (hero) ANALYSIS
Tumblr media
ALL RANKINGS WILL HAVE A 5 POINT SYSTEM  ( THERE MAY BE SOME SPOILERS, SO SPOILER WARNING!) I WILL LINK ALL OF MY REFERENCES/ SOURCES . ALL RANKINGS (1) BACKSTORY (2) PERSONALITY (3) ABILITIES (4)  APPEARANCE (5)  MOTIVATION (6)  CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
(1) BACKSTORY:
The son of George Joestar I, Jonathan is an honest, kind and positive man whose life is fraught with tragedy after meeting his adopted older brother, Dio Brando. In his battle against Dio, Jonathan becomes a Ripple user under the tutelage of the master Will Anthonio Zeppeli.  4/5
(2)PERSONALITY
“ He's not just looks and clothes, but a real honest-to-god gentleman... I like it! “  —Speedwagon  (Jonathan was proud and mischievous, yet gentle. Despite already aspiring to be a "true gentleman", Jonathan lacked manners and mostly behaved like a normal child. His mother having died before he could remember her, and his fellow boys ostracizing him because of his status left Jonathan somewhat lonely. While at first, Jonathan didn't have his future strength of will, Dio unwittingly became the catalyst of his growth by pushing him to the edge and humiliating his then girlfriend Erina Pendleton. However, he did have the kindness and courage to immediately jump to Erina's rescue against two bullies bigger than him despite not knowing her. JoJo is determined to rid the world of Dio's evil First and foremost, Jonathan strives to become his definition of a "true gentleman" as he carries his Joestar name with pride, never betraying the code of conduct he has set for himself and will treat any fellow human with respect unless they prove evil.  Jonathan also possesses a fierce inner strength and the drive to face and overcome conflict, which Dio calls an "explosive power". That drive, fueled by his affection to his friends and loved ones, enabled him to overcome the direst situations, notably managing to save his wife Erina when their boat was overcome with zombies and he was fatally hit in the throat. Jonathan fights for what he believes in, and once he is committed to something, he won't back down until the deed is done. During his journey to find a cure for his father's illness, he was ambushed by a band of misfit hoodlums. He did not so much as flinch as he grasped an assailant's knife within his hand, saying he had much more riding on the fight than merely four fingers.  As a gentleman, Jonathan is also kind and positive. Jonathan has a mindset where he tries to imagine the consequences his actions would have on other people, even if they appear to be enemies. He is gentle and sympathetic, feeling pain even as he vanquishes a zombified copper. Despite his skill in fighting, he will never seriously harm a person without a valid reason. Even after everything Dio has done, Jonathan still considers him his brother, and sheds tears for him. His courteous nature as well as his mental fortitude and ability to withstand fear and pain, is the main reason Speedwagon decides to aid him on his journey. During his life, Jonathan has always had an impulse to save others, beginning with Erina, and ending with his thought of a nearby baby just as he was agonizing from Dio's attack. Yet Jonathan can feel righteous fury at the evilness of his foes, and will conduct justice by vanquishing them. He admitted that his reason for fighting Dio wasn't out of duty for saving the world, but to avenge his loved ones that Dio had killed. Moreover, he has no pity for truly despicable individuals he is not familiar with such as Doobie. With his courage and spirit, Jonathan sets a legacy as the first JoJo of the series.Fascinated with the Stone Mask, Jonathan tried to study it and even took on the path of archaeology. However, not having thought of putting in on anyone, Jonathan didn't discover its true purpose himself. 5/5
(3) ABILITIES:
Athleticism - Jonathan had lived a rough past as the son of an aristocrat, and was known in his childhood to have been at least a competent boxer. In his college life, he played Rugby alongside Dio Brando, and was revered as one of the two stars of Hugh Hudson Academy.Even prior to learning the Ripple, Jonathan was able to hold his own against three thugs, Speedwagon among them, with sheer might and willpower. He was capable of wielding various weaponry held by the suits of armor in the Joestar Mansion. He had also performed incredible feats of strength, such as jumping from the hilt of a sword and hoisting himself up to the second floor while doing a flip over the guardrails, despite his arm being inhibited by a spear pierced into his pectorals. Perhaps his greatest display of strength was after being revitalized and empowered by Zeppeli's Ultimate Deep Pass Overdrive, where he ripped through 3 steel bars clutching his neck, a feat that even the mighty zombie Tarkus outright admitted he was incapable of.
Intelligence - Jonathan is shown to be an intelligent person and a very competent thinker during battles, constantly coming up with new strategies mid-combat to defeat foes such as Bruford and Dio. Academically, Jonathan graduated from university after having written a celebrated thesis in archaeology. He has meticulously studied the Stone Mask, going as far as identifying the spots in the brain it would pierce, but didn't discover its true purpose himself. In a fight, Jonathan is adept at thinking of moves on the spot and using the environment to his advantage. On several occasions, Jonathan was quick to formulate plans even in a moment of crisis. Still recovering from the loss of his father, Jonathan had to fight a vampirized Dio, and quickly thought about burning down the Joestar Mansion in order to bring Dio down. Likewise, agonizing from a wound in the throat (which also led to a loss of oxygen going to his brain), Jonathan managed to use his last Ripple on Wang Chan to dispose of a horde of zombies and Dio at the same time by controlling Wang Chan's body to make the boat explode. Jonathan even notably used his belt as a supplementary whip before ever acquiring the Ripple, as well exploited the fact that Windknight's Lot was a coal mining town to deduce that a lake would have air pockets at its bottom to surprise Bruford with an unexpected production of Ripple.
Ripple
Jonathan has an arsenal of ancient martial art techniques, most inherited from Will A. Zeppeli and involving Ripple, at his disposal. Some are his original creation, each ending with "Overdrive".
Zoom Punch (ズームパンチ Zūmu Panchi): Jonathan launches his fist forward and strikes his opponent. First used by Zeppeli, the attack involves a Ripple breathing technique that dislocates and stretches the joints to extend the arm and give it greater reach while also using the same Ripple to dull the pain caused by the move. Due to the increased length, the strike immediately reaches the opponent's face first, which from that perspective seems "zoomed in."
Sendo Ripple Overdrive (仙道波紋疾走オーバードライブ Sendō Hamon ShissouŌbādoraibu): Jonathan charges a Ripple wave through his arm and releases it into a solid object, such as a wall or partition. The Ripple can travel through and reach anything on the other side, and anything hit by the Ripple is sent flying in a spiral. If the enemy is an Undead, the Ripple will enter their bloodstream and destroy them from the inside.
Scarlet Overdrive (緋色の波紋疾走スカーレットオーバードライブ Hiiro no Hamon ShissouSukāretto Ōbādoraibu): Charging the Ripple into one hand, Jonathan can create a Ripple of flame. He is able to transfer over this flame to another part of his body, and anything that touches that body part has a chance of catching fire.
Underwater Turquoise Blue Overdrive (水中のための青縁波紋疾走ターコイズブルーオーバードライブ Suichū no Tame no Aomidori Hamon ShissouTākoizu Burū Ōbādoraibu): Appropriately the strongest place to use the Ripple, Jonathan can release high powered tempests while underwater with enough force to blast enemies away. In most cases, a good portion of the water is propelled outward as well, draining something like a lake to waist-high depth.
Overdrive Barrage (波紋疾走オーバードライブ連打 Hamon ShissouŌbādoraibu Renda): When Jonathan jabs fast enough consecutively, he can release multiple Overdrives at once.
Metal Silver Overdrive (銀色の波紋疾走メタルシルバーオーバードライブ Giniro no Hamon ShissouMetaru Shirubā Ōbādoraibu): Essentially the same as a Sendo Ripple Overdrive, but with the ability of transferring through metal.
Life Magnetism Overdrive (生命磁気への波紋疾走オーバードライブ Seimei jiki e no Hamon ShissouŌbādoraibu): With the aid of Zeppeli, Jonathan can draw all the leaves in the immediate area and magnetize them together to form one giant leaf, which was used as an impromptu-hang glider. This move can be applied to most plants, and has the ability to revive them passively as well - as when Jonathan touched a dead tree branch with his newly Ripple-healed arm and restored its wilted flowers.
Sunlight Yellow Overdrive (山吹き色の波紋疾走サンライトイエローオーバードライブ!! Yamabukiiro no Hamon ShissouSanraito Ierō Ōbādoraibu, Lit. "Bright Yellow Ripple Sprint"): His final and most memorable attack, first marked by Jonathan's words: "My heart resonates! The heat's enough to burn! The beat of my blood is razor-sharp!!" (ふるえるぞハート!燃えつきるほどヒート!!刻むぞ血液のビート! Furueru zo hāto! Moetsukiru hodo hīto!! Kizamu zo, ketsueki no bīto!). It is a devastating and extremely rapid flurry of Ripple-infused punches with power comparable to the sun itself and has the ability to completely obliterate the Undead.
Alongside the attacks, the Ripple has various other uses in combat. A skilled Ripple user such as Jonathan has the ability to walk on water, strengthen objects and increase their potency, increase jumping height, and much more.  Healing One of the main conveniences of the Ripple is the ability to heal the body to an extent. During his battle with Doobie, Jonathan was able to eject poison out of his bloodstream via Ripple transfusion. During his battle with Tarkus, he was also able to heal his broken neck after receiving the Supreme Pass Overdrive from Zeppeli.
Luck and Pluck (幸運ラックと勇気プラック kōunRakku to YūkiPurakku): After his defeat, Brufordgave Jonathan his sword, which played a major role in the final battle against Dio, where Jonathan was able to counter Dio's freezing ability by infusing the sword with Ripple, in order to avoid direct contact with Dio's body.
Hermit Purple-like Stand were due to a Stand power that awoke in Jonathan's body, Similar to Hermit Purple, it can produce a psychic photograph by smashing a camera, which Dio used to track the Joestars and their friends's current location to send Stand Users after them.
4/5
(4) APPEARANCE
As an adult, Jonathan is a tall (195 cm/6'5"), extremely muscular individual with a gentlemen's poise. His typical attire tends to reflect his noble background, characterized by stylized tunics over long sleeve shirts. Reoccurring articles of clothing include a cravat, bow tie, thick boots and a vest. At home, Jonathan wears semi-formal attire consisting of a collared shirt, tie, and jacket with rolled up sleeves. During University Rugby matches, he wears a standard striped rugby shirt and pants with long socks. When he sets out to Ogre Street to find a cure for his father's illness, Jonathan dons an entirely new outfit made up of a padded jacket and pants, complete with a deerstalker cap and a long cloak. During his training with Zeppeli, he strips down to a stylized tank top with wristbands, and at some point a circlet. On his quest to Windknight's Lot, Jonathan dons a double layered tunic with a bowtie and Deerstalker cap. After his fight with Tarkus, he wears a close-fitted tank top with capped sleeves for the rest of the journey. In the anime, these sleeves are converted into shoulder pads. During his honeymoon and final encounter with Dio, he wears an ornate suit with a long tail over a collared shirt with straps on the shoulders, and a cravat. 4/5
5)  MOTIVATION
Jojo’s motivation is avenging his father, his honor and defeating Dio. (Thanks Hanawriting) 5/5
6)  CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
After finally defeating Dio, Jonathan watches as he falls from the tower into the unknown disintegrating piece by piece. Shedding a tear for his corrupt brother... Even though Dio had hurt Jonathan in the worst way possible, he would always have a special place in his heart. This action would prove that Jonathan was too pure for this world.  5/5
