Thinking about Amy Rose and her role in Sonic Adventure 2 and just how absolutely vital it was to not only the outcome of the story but also to Shadow's very own character growth in a way.

Like it's because of Amy that Shadow changed his entire tune on destroying Earth and all the people in it. When they have that talk and Shadow talks about how there's people out there who are bad or evil, Amy doesn't disagree with him. In fact she says he's right, but she also says this.

There are good people in the world too. Don't they deserve a chance to live?

It's because of this, her sincerity and ability to see both sides that she gets through to Shadow and reminds him of the actual promise between him and his beloved friend Maria. It's because of this that Shadow teams up with Sonic and the others in the end of the game to stop the Space Arc from destroying the world, sacrificing himself in the process.

Amy's intervention and her pure kindness and sincerity managed to literally save the world. Like I know a lot of people don't like her, because she's always chasing our favorite speedster, but she's got so much more to her and I love remembering these little things about her. In a way she's the heart of her friends, because she's willing to do these things.

Which is why I'm manifesting for her for the 3rd movie cuz like if they're introducing Shadow then they're most likely going the Sonic Adventure 2 route. And she's so incredibly vital to the story as well as Shadow's own change of heart. Like if they don't include her I'm gonna be so disappointed.

…and it’s just him obnoxiously break-dancing, cutting shapes, lip-syncing to some music BANGERS while serving heroism. Channeling that GOTG Vol.2 vibe, I think.

One thing Sonic Prime got 5000% right is the variety of camera angles of beating ass and the witty quips while beating ass. And…I just NEED more, my god…

If they’ll only be playable in that new story bit or if we’re actually be able to play as them on their respective islands.

Everything is falling apart.  Every wall, every sky, every moment.  All things, time and space alike, are becoming broken within the great void that is only growing greater and stronger the more it pulls into itself.

And at its center, locked in combat, are two figures built in contrast.  One small, the other large; one garbed in armor of glistening white, the other in mail of pitch black; one a Knight, the other a mere Child. Yet there was one link between them, a crimson light that burns in their eyes, and bursts out from the glistening Soul which floats above them, the one thing which pierced the storm of the void entirely.

“I know you can see it, but sight tells us so little!” The Knight bellows.  “Can you hear it, O Vessel?” His question comes in a mocking tone as he brings his hardened fist down upon the child’s chest.  “The sound of the glorious fire burning away all things at long last?”

The child’s only answer is to bounce back from the blow and slam their head right into the Knight’s, hard enough that the armor rings like an anvil struck by a hammer.  “Yes, you can, can’t you?” the Knight retorts. “Or else you would not fight this fiercely.”

He grapples with the child, trying to pin their arms.  “Fiercely, but in vain.  This is not a battle to be won, O Vessel; this is not a scheme to be thwarted.”  He takes the left arm in hand.  “We are past that now.”  He takes the right arm.  “This is Truth, written in stone.  Immutable.”

The child’s legs swing out and kick into the Knight’s plated sternum, forcing the Knight to release his grip and sending both combatants swirling along the spinning center of the void. The Soul crackles just a bit brighter. “Thrash about all you wish!” the Knight cackles as he balances himself.  “It cannot be changed!  The Fate to which we have both been bound from the moment our eyes first opened will be fulfilled!”

He leans forward, ready to lunge, but the child strikes first, a living shadow striking like a bolt of lighting.  They strike again at the head, one hand grabbing onto the horn of the Knight’s helmet, and the other slamming into its faceplate.  “Shut.  UP!” the child speaks at last with a piercing voice.  Again they strike the faceplate.  “SHUT UP!”  Again. “SHUT UP!”  Again.  “SHUT UUUUUUUUP!!!”

One last blow, and the plate dents, the helmet twists, and the head turns with it.  “I don’t care!” the child spits out, using the horn to swing away from the Knight’s swiping hand.  “I don’t care if it’s too late!  I don’t care if you say it can’t be changed!”  Their swing spins them back around, this time feet-first, right into the Knight’s neck.  “Noelle’s out there, Susie’s out there, my family is out there!”

The Soul’s light grows brighter still.

“So I’ll fight!”  A punch to the side of the head.  “I’ll keep fighting!”  A kick to the chin.  “I’ll keep fighting like they can still be saved!”

The Knight pushes them back, lifting their hand to try and knock them away.  And the child too readies another blow.  “BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS!”

And this time the Knight cannot stop a small tremble passing through his body.  Because now he is the one who hears.  He knows what that voice sounds like.

Not just a shout. A roar.

((I wonder if the seed of E 102 Gamma's (for lack of a better word) humanity got planted by Robotnik of all people. He introduces 101 as his "older brother," which it seems reasonable to assume he would've programmed Gamma to understand. After he's established a sibling (or at least sibling-like) relation to the other E series, he then treats them like they're disposable which seem to be the beginning of Gamma starting to question things.

Wow. So, uh, I just finished my quick-fire reviews of each and every Archie Sonic ever released.

I may have skipped one or two, such as the “Sonic & Sabrina the Teenage Witch“ one, but regardless, there’s a sense of finality to having given these issues a close look for so long. Page have been analysed, discussions have been had with friends and followers, and I’ve given my two rings on various Archie Sonic topics and its varying creative team. It’s honestly very strange, having reviewed these silly Sonic comics on and off since 2015, and now finding myself with no more books to read. I was thrust back into the mindset I had back in 2017, where I ranted and raved that the comics were over, but I was a dumb kid back then. Going from this series’ jokey beginning, continuing through to the Ken Penders era, the Dork Age, the much more decent Ian Flynn era, the reboot, Sonic: Mega Drive...seeing the evolution of this book, I feel like I’ve grown as a reviewer alongside it. I hold this comic series close to my heart.

For real though, it’s not just been me. There are a lot of really cool peeps who’ve also shared their own thoughts on the comics, and I love that! Hearing about what others have to say on stuff I am also passionate about is honestly the best. Really gets my hyperfixated brain running! I must give a humble thanks to @scruffyplayssonic, @konnichibot, @kellodrawsalot @firebirdmaximus, @kkobun, @nuttyrabbit, @gojira007, @sege-h, @pc-the-unicorn-reblogs, and every single one of you for sharing my posts and giving your insight on the series and my reviews! I’m often too shy to chat and dm but I hope this post clearly express my appreciation for yall. And big props to you, @robotnik-mun​, for sticking by me for damn near the entire series. You’ve always brought up points I missed, and added to topics I myself frequently had difficulty articulating. Peeps like you guys made the journey a lot sweeter, like a sort of community!

As for the future of me covering Archie Sonic specifically, like with the comics in my heart, they’re never truly leaving. I’m still gonna post about them here and there, reblog awesome art of its characters, and of course talk about the creative team’s other stuff, be it Ken Penders’ aimless spiritual successors or Ian Flynn and IDW Publishing stuff! Come rain or shine, this blog will always exist, so yall ain’t gonna be free from me gushing about the blue hedgehog anytime soon!

Not at the moment though. Now I rest. xD

so robotnik-mun now that sonic frontiers is out, what are your thoughts on the relationship between eggman and sage? To me it seems ooc of eggman to grow a parental bond towards sage. Considering eggman is someone that only cares about himself and will ditch anyone that isn’t of use to him anymore. Example: infinite and metal sonic.

Your reasoning strikes me as heavily flawed. If Eggman truly didn't care about Metal Sonic he'd have simply destroyed him after the Metal Overlord incident. Eggman is indeed a deeply selfish person, but that doesn't exactly discount the idea that he cares more about his machines than he does people. He cares enough about Orbot and Cubot to keep them around despite them not really being all that competent. It's not really an out there development to suggest he places value or even feels affection for certain creations. 

In fact, you bringing up Infinite only enhances the argument that he would care about his better machines. Infinite is a jumped up thug who he enhanced and who failed in his given job. Why would he care about what happened to a mercenary, compared to something Eggman himself personally created? It makes far more sense for him to show a care towards his own machines than he does to any organic being.

First impression: mun: Ok, what's the hype about??? Ed: Oops I guess I have another child...

Impression now: mun: Oh... Oh. I see. Ed: Precious ray of sunshine

Favorite moment: Mun: The moment in the thread where Flynn returns where Ed and Sonic and Clu are playing with the toy lightcycles. Ed: Teaching Sonic and Clu baseball at night

Idea for a story: Mun: Would love to see them all deal with Robotnik.

Unpopular opinion: Mun: Uh... IDK. Ed: All the preconceptions about aliens are WRONG (at least about this one).

Favorite relationship: Mun: I actually really love the way you write Sonic's relationship with Knuckles. It cracks me up! That being said... Ed and Sonic's relationship is adorable. Ed (* interpreting this as favorite part of relationship *): Sonic's ability to always make the people around him laugh and smile. And like with Clu... getting to watch him grow and learn.

Favorite headcanon: Mun: Uh... The one that Sonic hates grapes because Knuckles keeps sticking them in everything?

I like them both for their own reasons but, honestly, StC Robotnik has the edge over Eggman. I'm a sucker for villains that just eventually lose their minds and become even more dangerous because of it. Eggman's never gotten to that point (at least not in the games and what little of the Archie comics I have read), which isn't to say he doesn't have his own brand of crazy but it's not that destructive, all-out nature.

And Robotnik had that. Dude went from being a villain, to a ruler, to some time-altering being (seriously he got enough power to rewrite time and Sonic out of his timeline altogether), lost despite all that and then got cut down by an off-comment made by Amy before losing his mind and trying to end the world by using Chaos. His end goal was to end himself, the world and The Freedom Fighters using Chaos and The Emeralds and still failed.

If he had ever come back in the comics (they were canceled) this guy would have been fruit loops and I'm sad we never got to see it.

Eggman's always been more comedic to me than super dangerous? He has some great plans but they never seem to be on quite the same scale as some of the outlandish things Robotnik has done. Especially these days, Eggman seems more like, I don't know, a second thought?? More than a nemesis to Sonic at times.

Maybe my single favorite character in the entire franchise, one half of my absolute Favorite Ship Of All Time, and a profound influence on how I think and feel about Every Other Favorite Character I have. XD

Favorite moment

From SatAM, it's actually probably her frustrated breakdown from "Blast to the Past, Part 1"; I remember being very struck by it at the time, and even now I think of it as one of those profoundly revealing moments where we realize just how much of Who She Is and How She Works is, in fact, wrapped up in this tremendous weight she carries on her shoulders.

From Archie, it's probably a tie between this moment...

Idea for a story

so many that i could literally do nothing but answer this question and it would take up a post several times the size of this one.

But to pick just one which I haven't as yet put much serious effort into actually realizing? I've long dwelled on the old one-off gag the comic made about Sally's "family tree" being an ACTUAL Tree and turning that into an Actual Story about the Tree's significance to the Acorn Royal Family. What exactly that means I never did settle on; I considered making the Tree the marker for the wellspring of the Source of All, but I also considered making it more Arthurian, i.e. the Tree is what granted the Royal Family its status.

Unpopular opinion

This idea that Sally somehow looks "out of place" amongst "Sonic" games characters strikes me as, just, deeply silly. Partially because I struggle to see it personally; almost every trait fans point to as, like, "Wrong" are things that other "Sonic" characters from the games absolutely have. But also because, frankly, it asks us to accept the increasingly limited idea of what "Sonic" characters look like that SEGA has been pushing for the last few years and which I personally dislike a lot. We should have a "Sonic" universe where characters like Sally fit in, not one where All Characters Must Look Like They Came From The "Forces" Avatar Generator.

@sally-mun's idea that the change in Sally's fur color between her Pilot-style pink and her finalized brown stems from her shedding her Winter Coat. It's such a perfectly elegant and organic way to tie those looks together, I just love it. <3

Before joining Tumblr in late 2023 & even before anon asks got account-walled, I use to use Tumblr's anon asks very frequently during the late-2010s to 2022-ish.

The people I talked to under anon were Verte, Crusher, Nutty, Robotnik-Mun, ThanksKenPenders, & more. Experiences are some good, some bad, & somewhere in between.

But like I said, ever since anon asks now forces people to have an account just to use said feature, I rarely use anon asks when I joined here.
