Solar Eclipse Ziolet Style

In my Wild Kratts Professor AU, Zach is a college professor and Violet is his student. Eventually, Violet switches to online classes and works as a teacher’s aid while she gets her degree. She and Zach marry, and Zach becomes a frequent visitor at the school she works at, volunteering in her classes. So, I imagine this is how the solar eclipse viewing would go if Zach was present (remember, he does not have his Zachbots or many other inventions within this Au, they are developed as the AU progresses).

A Few Days Before The Eclipse

Violet: “Zach, do you want to come and watch the solar eclipse with our class?”

Zach: “Do I have to?”

Violet: “No, but they love you, it will be an experience they will remember forever, and you’ll be apart of it….besides….they are 5 and it’s about 70 of them….we could use another adult, and you are an approved volunteer…and I’d like you to be with me so we can experience it together.”

Zach: “Fine, but if one pukes I am out!”

Violet: “Ehhhhh, thank you! And noted, I won’t hold it against you, I don’t need you passing out on me like last time.”

Zach: *shuddering*: “I still have nightmares about it.”

At The Solar Eclipse, As Zach, Violet, and Her Colleagues are Passing Glasses Out And Helping Put Them On The Children

Zach *fustrated*: “Argh! Why don’t these fit them, they keep falling off!”

Violet *snickering, voice full of sarcasm*: “What are we going to do, tape them on?”

Zach *with a serious expression on his face*: “I’ll be right back.”

Violet *giving him a suspicious look*: “Where are you going?”

Zach *giving her a mischievous grin*: “Uhhh, to your desk…”

Violet *narrowing her eyes at him*: “Why?”

Zach *laughing*: “You’ll see…”

Violet *jaw dropping as Zach returns*: “Oh my goodness….you did not get tape….”

Zach *flabbergasted but offering her a roll of tape which she takes*: “You brought it up, not me! Besides! I just tried it on my own hair and a little bit will not hurt them. Now…Who wants their glasses to fit right?”

20 or so kiddos screaming “Meeeee!!!”

Zach *smiling smugly*: “Well, line up in front of me and Mrs. Varmitech!”

And no, my students were not harmed today from the tape, they had to explicitly ask for it, and an adult carefully removed it.

Building off the tags of the last post I reblogged: the premise of homestuck is that everyone on earth/alternia/beforus dies except for a special, chosen few, who are arguably the entire reason for that planet’s existence and therefore the most important people in the story. Despite this, we still see the plot affected in major ways by completely regular, nonspecial people. The story works around the lack of available humans by introducing theoretically unimportant game constructs and giving them feelings, personalities, and motivations of their own. WV, PM, AR, CD, etc etc etc aren’t even meant to be all that important within the context of the game, but they have just as much agency and ability to move the plot forward as the “chosen” characters or their guardians. Characters that ARE important within the context of the game, like Snowman and Jack Noir, can very easily surpass the “chosen ones” and become major threats. Pre-retcon Vriska’s entire quest for relevancy pales before the impact of the Courtyard Droll with a head full of empty and a shaving cream bomb. Even Casey the Salamander gets her moments in the spotlight.

On the flipside: Despite HS2 taking place within a fully realized, non-apocalypse’d society FULL of people, many of whom probably have a stake in the main characters’ very public drama and political machinations, very few people outside of the gods and their children have speaking roles, names, or the ability to do absolutely anything of consequence.

This Is Too Easy: A Wild Violet One Shot

Summary: Zach Varmitech wants to have an animal collection party for himself, but with his assistant Violet tagging along, this proves to be problematic. She will not shut up! She just keeps harping about how the Wild Ratts will foil his plan. Well, he can’t have that. He’ll have to find some way to silence her so he can enact his evil scheme: Even if it results in him using his lips for more than talking.

So last year, I decided to take a wack at the 2023 Year of the OTP Event here on Tumblr and A03.

I only wrote/completed a couple works for the event, and this was for the month of February to fulfill the prompt: “If I kiss you, will you shut up?” I’ve previously posted it to A03 and Fanfiction.net, but now I am posting it to Wattpad and making the “master post” here. The links for the story can be found below as well as a list of potential warnings!

I hope you all enjoy this little story if you have not read it yet. Feel free to let me know what you think! The Light palette suits Vriska very well.

I think I like this outfit more than John's, actually. The hood and boots make her look like a typical rogue, which suits her class perfectly. The wings are odd, but I suppose they could symbolize a thief's agility.

Also, now that I'm looking at this outfit in context, I'm pretty sure I've seen it before. Not during the comic itself, but in fanart, long before I started the liveblog. It was definitely either Vriska, or another God-Tiered Light player - but since Vriska's a fan favorite, I think it's more likely it was her.

The windy boy is dead. The tragedy is overwhelming. All hope is lost. Oh well. Time to get out of this tin can!

We're back with WV, who seems a little behind on current events. I guess he's assuming the John he met on Skaia was from further back on the timeline, so he thinks the Heir is dead for good.

Of course you still have your secret treasure, but it will almost certainly prove to be of no use to you in this dilemma whatsoever.

Incident #1: December █, 20██. Persons Involved: Colonel Wilbur R. Cross; Major Johnathan S. MacNamara; Lt. Colonel Rosalind B. Schaffer; Agent Xander P. Lee. Location: █████████, NM

At approximately 20:35, a standard mission update was sent in by Col. Cross. Team was instructed to stay put and wait for further instructions. The next two mission updates were unreported. At 22:14, a transmission was sent to Col. Cross. Was picked up by Lt. Schaffer, quote: "Cross is in unstable condition, Lee providing medical assistance. MacNamara in a fire fight with ██████, ███████, and █████. Prepared for further instruction."

The team was left without further instruction. At approximately 1:00, a final transmission was sent. Quote: " ██████, ███████, and █████ incapacitated. MacNamara defied orders under extenuating circumstances, ████ ████████ has been eliminated. Cross has been stabilized. Prepared for extraction. We are sorry."

Post-Incident: Col. Cross was sent to the New Mexico center for emergency medical aid, recovered within one week. Lt. Schaffer given the chance to explain the circumstances, Maj. MacNamara unpunished. Maj. MacNamra also required to take a two-week leave of absence due to his mental state post mission. Viewed this as a punishment.

Incident #2: August ██, 20██. Persons Involved: Brigandine General Johnathan S. MacNamara; ████ ███████; ████ █████████; ███████ ████; █████ ██████; Major General Truman E. Youngerman; Colonel Rosalind B. Schaffer; Lieutenant Colonel Harriet Y. Smith. Location: ███████, ██.

On ████ ██, ████, Brig. Gen. MacNamara disappeared from his station in Point Pleasant, WV. Unresponsive, filed as MIA 48 hours later. On ██████ ██, ████, a message sent to Maj. Gen. Youngerman. Read: "A little birdie told me you were missing a general. Give us the information before he does. You have 72 hours before your general dies."

Maj. Gen. Youngerman provided Col. Schaffer with a hard drive filled with falsified and/or outdated information. She was instructed to swap it for Brig. Gen. MacNamara. Took Lt. Smith as backup. Backup was needed. ████ ███████, ████ █████████, █████ ██████ pulled weapons on the two agents, resulting in a short firefight with all three adversaries eliminated.

Brig. Gen. MacNamara found in a state of half-consciousness, showing signs of heavy torture. Dead body of ███████ ████ found in corner of room. Brig. Gen. MacNamara found clutching the knife. Was sedated and taken to the intensive care unit at MSHS.

Post-Incident: No more information could be found on kidnappers. Brig. Gen. MacNamara made a recovery within 54 days. Retains minor hand tremors, ensure he is still able to consistently aim. Promoted to Maj. Gen. upon his return.

Incident #3: June ██, 20██. Persons Involved: Major Chunhua N. Shào; Major General Johnathan S. MacNamara; Lieutenant Colonel Harriet Y. Smith; Major Ishaan D. Bhavsar; Private Reese G. Dobler. Location: Yellowstone National Park, WY.

Team instructed to remain in cabin and observe impacts of extraterrestrial substances on biological organisms. On May ██, 20██, the escape of a presumed non-sentient substance was reported by Maj. Gen. MacNamara. Previous data had proven a possession of both living and dead organisms. The substance would slowly replace the original matter with it's own. Only able to spread via fluid, however.

Maj. Gen. MacNamara prevented his team from becoming infected in quarantine for twenty days. On June ██, 20██, Maj. Shào reported feelings of dizziness. Throughout the next few days, Maj. Shào showed more signs of infection until it was undeniable. Maj. Shào was a host for the substance. Maj. Gen. MacNamara was given the order to eliminate her. After 17 hours of deliberation, a report was sent in. Quote: "I... I killed her. Chunhua's dead. It was quick, I shot her in the head when *sob* she was sleeping. We burnt her body. There's nothing- *sob* there's nothing left. The threat has been eliminated. Extraction is no longer a risk. *hic* Over."

Post-Incident Report: Maj. Gen. MacNamara and his remaining team members were extracted the next day and given proper medical treatment for minor malnutrition and dehydration. Maj. Shào promoted to Lt. Col. postmortem. Her stipend will be sent to her family, and a funeral will be held on June 24, 20██. For his skills in handling the situation, and following of orders, plans have been made to promote Maj. Gen, MacNamara to four-star general.
