reading the players guide is so wild because there's some genuinely very cool stuff followed by the worst fucking errata you have ever seen with no jutification whatsoever

theres like 13 salubri and they all diablre each other rather than sire new generations. also i thought tremere diablarized the tzimcse. or is salburi an offshoot of them......
According to the wiki the original tremere guy diablerized the salubri antideluvian so that the tremere would also have an antideluvian. Dude just didn't wanna feel left out 😔 it's also apparently why the tremere were considered untrustworthy from the start. They also had a war with the tzimisce early in their history tho, but the wiki doesn't say if there was diablerie there

The VTM subreddit had some discussion of Nosferatu/Toreador romance the other day but the peak inter-clan pairing for me will always be Salubri/Tzimisce.
It’s the rich contrast between “I was created to be a healer. My touch erases pain and casts out evil. I can’t even feed if it would cause suffering, even if I am on the edge of starvation. My clan’s progenitor described his childer as lambs made to be sacrificed,” versus “Other clans know me by a word that means ‘demon.’ My hands are tools of torture and mutilation and even acts that are attempts at reconstruction rather than ripping apart are agonizing. My blood ties me to the land and the land is poison. The power that is my greatest strength is also a disease that is eating me from the inside out.“
It’s “Your abilities indelibly mark you as an enlightened savior while mine mark me as a horrifying monster.” It’s “I worship you because you’re everything I could never be.” It’s “I was doomed from the start but maybe if I take on the burden of violence so you can stay pure, I can find some kind of redemption.” It’s “I adore you but I’m terrified to touch you.” It’s “We couldn’t be more different, but we are both united in the horror of knowing we have no choice but to be exactly what we are.”

VTM Character Concepts I am Compelled to Share: Malkavian Edition
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Sorry I kinda disappeared off the face of the earth (work has been wild because tis the season I guess), but a bouquet of Mlakavian ideas have bloomed from my brain and I am eager to share them with you all. As always, feel free to use any of these ideas in your campaigns, art, etc. and please do message me about what your characters are up to! Also, PLEASE be mindful that VTM is a dark game so I'd advise against engaging with some of the concepts if you are aren't in a good headspace. VTM is a game, but your mental health isn't. Please take care of yourselves ❤️ With that said, let's get into some concepts for a clan I hold very near and dear to my heart! 1. A Malkavian with severe agoraphobia, but not for the reasons you might think. You see, they are keeping themselves isolated and sticking to one place because every time they go outside, it seems like disaster strikes. Others may say its a coincidence, but this Malkavian is convinced they are a walking herald of disaster, and wants to protect those they love. 2. A Malkavian computer scientist and programmer who scoffs at those who believe in a higher power. Why? Because they are building a God via AI who will shepherd humanity and kindred into a new era . 3. A Malkavian who wakes up every night with no memory of the previous one. To combat this, they obsessively journal, take notes and photographs, and record audio diaries. So far the rest of the coterie hasn't caught on yet, but with every night things become more difficult. 4. A Malkavian who developed an incredibly intense fear of silence after encountering a complete absence of sound during their embrace. To avoid it, they always have headphones to play music on their person, and tend to do things like drum their fingers against tables to produce noise. Though this helps, it can be irritating to other kindred, and a big hindrance during espionage and infiltration missions. 5. A Malkavian who, desperate to cure their derangement, has begun hunting down and diablerizing Salubri, believing the clan of healers’s blood is the solution to all their problems.
6. A Malkavian who is nonverbal due to a fear that some of their Dominate abilities, which have been erratic and uncontrollable in the past, act up. In life they felt helpless over the fact that many things were out of their control and wished they could have things their way, but now they regret their wish with all their heart.
7. A photographer Malkavian who strongly believes in the idea that when you take someone’s picture, you capture a piece of their soul. Fascinated by the fact that the Lasombra don’t show up on cameras correctly, they are obsessed with the idea of getting a proper snapshot of one and analyzing it.
Hope you all enjoy!

A summary of all of the VTM clans (cus why not)
Ventrue - Kings, leaders, and rulers (pretentious assholes)
Toreador - Beautiful artists and performers (pretentious assholes)
Brujah - Self righteous rebels. Some of them call themselves philosopher kings (pretentious assholes but a different flavor)
Lasombra - Basically the Ventrue except they prefer to rule from the shadows. They also like to use mortal religions (pretentious assholes)
Gangrel - They wish they were garou soooo bad
Banu Haqim - Don't talk about the orientalism in vtm lore don't talk about the orientalism in vtm lore don't ta (aside from *certain* aspects of their lore they do have a very strong focus on justice and how they percieve justice, which is honestly pretty interesting)
Hecata - The most jumbled mess of awful necromancers who all hate each other and think they're better than each other (pretentious assholes)
Salubri - Healers who are just trying to do their best and help people
Tzimisce - The fuckiest of gender presentation. I'm convinced they're 60% of the reason this game is so popular for trans people.
Ministry - DON'T TALK ABOUT THE ORIENTALISM IN VTM LORE DON'T TALK ABOUT THE ORIENTALISM IN VTM LO
Malkavian - Vampires revolving around mental illness? Either the most interesting or most tasteless characters imaginable.
Nosferatu - Nasty little weirdos who live in sewers. Seemingly single-handedly keeping the vampire world's logistics together.
Ravnos - DONT TALK ABOUT THE ORIENTALISM IN VTM LORE DONT TALK ABOU- oh they sort of fixed them? Travelers and tricksters...
Tremere - Hey remember the Salubri? These wizards ate them. (the most pretentious motherfucking assholes)
(bonus) Thin Bloods - What if you became a vampire but you sucked? What if being a shit vampire gave you the ability to make magical HRT?

promise me
Tumblr media
This is already a bit old art, although many arts I made a little more than six months ago are perceived as old for me. These two characters are NPCs from the Victorian Chronicle. The girl (Owen) is a Salubri healer, and the young man next to her (Isaac) is a Tremere with humanity level 9, who freed her from the Chantry and ran away with her, despite all the trouble he could get for it. The relationship between these two is purely platonic.
Owen is very emotional and energetic, Isaac is calm and kind. They protect each other, and managed to survive to modern nights. Not least because Isaac's mentor Moira seems to likes him, in her own way, and wasn't actively looking for them. They are one of my favorites NPCs. I was very inspired to draw by the song "Promise me" by the band Odyn_v_kanoe (Один в каное - Пообіцяй мені)
I think this song suits these two very well. This is a song by a Ukrainian band, and it's in Ukrainian, but here's a translation:
Promise me
How long one can pour, how long one can nurse words?
They are not children!
Through the concrete slabs the grass is struggling-crying:
“I’m alive”!
Give it your hand, give it access to the light, give it the water!
I saw, I understood the sign:
Everything is vice versa, everything is wrong,
Even you!
Refrain:
Promise me, promise me
That there will always be light in your window.
Promise me, even if it will fail,
That “tomorrow” will immediately and inevitably take place!
Promise me...
Right over they’ll turn off the water, and I’ll have again no time to wash away the sin,
Yesterday’s sin.
It will cut my freedom in half, throw it to feet,
To your feet.
This is the world of things and things are ill!
And you’re already here, in that choir!
Go toward my voice,
Go toward my voice...https://lyricstranslate.com

tell me your feelings about all the Salubri they are my fav VTM clan next to Toreador but only the pacifist healer weenie ones
Ooh, I have some thoughts on them here! tl;dr they're fascinating, largely in part due to Saulot himself being an absolute conundrum, but also just. The general vibe, man.
How outside to the rest of Cainite society they are as a clan, how their relatively recent history has shaped them. Culturally-acceptable and culturally-respectable diablerie, it's such a difference to how other clans see it, aside from the Banu Haqim (and the Banu Haqim and Salubri have their own closely intertwined history!). Also, that's also a big thing - the Banu Haqim are my second-favourite clan, Tzimisce my first, and the Salubri have a unique and really cool relationship with them both.
Also, my all-time favourite canon-divergent official AU (from DAV20) is based around them. How goddamn cool is that?

he is incredibly chill but also scary (he went toe-to-toe with the local Malkavian elder and almost won)

Clan Powerpoint
Ventrue: Clan of Kings. Rolling clan, in many places. Made for that shit, but also a lil arrogant about it. Not completely unjustified, but eeh.
Brujah: the opposite! The Rabble. Rebels. Slight anger issues. Shit happens. Historically in a squabble with Ventrue.
Toreador: Roses. Pretty people. Very Into the arts, socially adept.
Tremere: Blood sorcerers. Can Actually make your blood boil. Spooky & secretive. Very well-structured.
Malkavian: children of the Moon, iirc? Diviners. Get visions of the future and are all linked to each other. Mentally.
Nosferatu: information network. You should Always Assume a Nosferatu is in the room with you listening. Extremely cool people.
Banu Haquim: judge Jury and executioner over Kindred. In the Camarilla. (?)
Gangrel: Can turn into animals. Ish. No comment, they're just also cool af.
Lasombra: Shadow Magicians. Catholics? Idk. Shadow magic most importantly.
Tzimisce: Fleshcrafters. Can turn themselves and others into like. Actual dragons and the like. Also the only ones that can change your appearance after this point, I think, except perhaps:
Thin-Bloods: like half-vampires, kinda. Alchemists. Underrated by The Establishments.
Hecata: A collected clan, I think? Only one clan on paper? Something like that. Necromancers. I think. This one's a bit strange.
Salubri: Healers? But also evil. Kinda.
Ravnos: idk what they do but they have to be on the move constantly
Caitiff: umbrella term for Everything Else.
OK that's my PowerPoint. I'm sure dash will deliver additional information by reading into this <3 so you're welcome

Sketches of the VTM:DA coterie.
I am getting a bit more confident with this sketching style. It's hard work but I think it's worth keeping on with it. I hope I don't lose much in the painting
1) Lilijana my PC and Tzimisce
2) Healer Salubri 3) Lasombra Abyss Mystic
3) Warrior Salubri 4) Cappadocian.
Going to make this a big group Coterie shot! Which is ambitious but I hope looks good.

New Orleans Coterie in Amon Style
So this requires some explanation, so since there are kind of some similarities between Devilmen and how Kindred work, they both have a beast/demon to overcome and to stay human they have to keep their human heart of sorts or they'll lose themselves to the beast/demon, also they have to merge and gain power they have to devour another demon/Kindred and overcome their will. Honestly Akira's journey in the original Devilman manga is a perfect example of someone slowly losing themselves to their inner beast despite their good intentions, and him giving up on saving humanity is also him giving up on his humanity, in vampire the masquerade terms he's no longer on the path of humanity. So in my headcanon au for Devilman/Vampire the Masquerade crossover, Kindred are Devilmen who can make more through the embrace, have to feed on blood and hide from the sun, Devilmen and Demons in Devilman have this eyeliner like markings under their eyes to intricate their demonic nature and that's why I've given it to mine and my friend's vampire the masquerade new orleans by night characters here, and changed around the shape and colour of it to intricate what clan they belong to.
Also I thought it would be fun to draw them in the Amon OVA style and it really was :D
First up is Andy the Ravnos and his famulus Elliot, he's the baby of the group, having only been embraced under a year ago, he belongs to @qwibwib, the storyteller of the New Orleans by Night chronicle :D.
second is Moreen the Volgirre and the eldest and fleshcrafter of the group she belongs to @morbidoptimisim.
third is Iris the Salubri, she's the healer and sniper of the group and also a mother to a five year old child who we are currently working on rescuing this season, she belongs to @cthylla-rlyeh.
forth is Rose the Tremere, she's the blood and water magic user of the group and she belongs to me. :3
fifth is Dolly the Daughter of Cacophony, Moreen's wife and former longtime ghoul now a Kindred herself in order to save what was left of her family after Moreen got kidnapped by the main villains of the chronicle last season (Moreen is back safe and sound now) and she belongs to Morbid.
and finally sixth is Kevin, Rose's longtime ghoul (21 years of service!) and a big brother figure to her, he also belongs to me.
Btw if you like what you see and want a commission drop me a direct message on tumblr, instagram, a note on deviantart or artistree https://artistree.io/missn11

What are your top 3 favorite vtm clans (or bloodlines)?
Bonus: which clan do you think you'd fit in with? :3c
Oh boy, this is going to be long lol
Favorite: Tzimisce
Gosh, what a surprise :O
But yeah. I mean, firstly, the cool factor is undeniable. It's always such a joy designing Tzimisce characters because even toeing the strictest borderlines of canon they're allowed to get real weird with it in a way that most other clans aren't. I don't mean this as hate at all so I hope it doesn't come across like that, all clans are beautiful <3 but if you're playing Ventrue, Brujah, Tremere etc to some degree you'll always just be playing as Some Guy. With a Tzim it’s like…Do you want some sick-ass bone blades on your arms? No problem! Another pair of arms to put more bone blades on? Sounds good! Do you want to be bioluminescent like a squid? Great! Go crazy!
Second: Full disclosure, I am the “My fursona is my TWOO SELF” flavor of furry. And the idea of having near total freedom of form— to be able to give myself a tail, claws, fangs, horns, [long censor beep], whatever I want, to abandon my human shape, fills me with Yearning.
In the complete opposite direction, I also find personal meaning in the clan as someone who suffers from chronic pain. Shamelessly copy-pasting a reply to another post:
The flavoring of Vicissitude as a creeping infection, as the actual body of the Eldest spread from generation to generation, able to rise up and consume its bearers at any moment, resonates with me very deeply as someone whose pain is caused by congenital tissue defects and which will inevitably get worse over time.
The idea that…there’s something horrible lurking inside your body. It can’t be cured. It can’t be removed. It is part of the very fabric of your being. And it is going to eat you alive, it is going to eat and eat until there’s nothing left. That no matter how you struggle, eventually it’s going to win. But you struggle anyways, because what the hell else is there to do?
The clan also has its revenant families, who are all collectively my most Specialist Little Guy in the world. I am a huge sucker for ye old trope of Special Family Bloodline Technique, and they scratch that itch for me in a really fun and interesting way.
Second favorite: Giovanni. I actually don't have any deep reasons for this one, I just think that “fucked up necromancer vampire crime family” is such a fun concept lol. I like organized crime stories. It's also another one for the “bloodline technique” category— in v20, they even have their own associated revenant family, the Rossellinis!
Third favorite: Salubri. The vibe I get is that they’re deeply underappreciated because people feel like their designation in both fluff and crunch as “the nice ones” means that they’re boring and clash with Masquerade’s overall tone. But I STRONGLY disagree— I think that's exactly what gives them so much potential for the sort of personal, existential horror that is supposed to be at the heart of Masquerade. I actually want to write a much longer post sometime that really gets into why, but part of it is this— being a magical pacifist unicorn prancing in a sunny flower field isn't “horrifying,” but being a magical pacifist unicorn in a dark forest where the only other animals are wolves that want to eat your face sure is. I also think the contrast between mainline (healer) Salubri and Salubri antitribu is a really rich thematic vein— again, I want to write more on this later.
Bloodline lightning round:
Ahrimanes: Cat-themed woman power. I like the concept of Gangrel in tune with the spiritual elements of nature. Spirits in World of Darkness are fun because they can be anything.
Ventrue antitribu: Knights in modern settings are cool.
However, if the question was “Which clan are you most like?” instead of “What's your favorite”, the answer is far and away Toreador. I love making art, and while I mostly just write now because my body has kind of fallen apart, I used to dabble in a bunch of different mediums and loved them all. That and I already do the “oh that flower/painting/ random pattern of light on the wall is really pretty *zones out and stares at it*” thing in real life lol so that would just be business as usual. If I couldn't be a Meat Criminal this is actually the clan I'd choose to be embraced into.
Thanks for giving me a chance to talk :)

I am not sure if you still do them but I would love to see you dish out some sick Salubri concepts (they're so neat but I never dare to play them, their concept seems to only go the traditional healer route for me)
Hello there! Sorry that I’ve been MIA; it’s been a bit crazy in my offline life. But I’m still here and I still love VTM, so let’s see what so got as far as Salubri concepts! TW for mentions of mental illness and incarceration.
1. A Salubri who found out about the clan’s history of caretaking after their cousin clan, the Malkavians, and who aims to uphold that noble mission. Naturally, it isn’t as easy as it sounds, and the Salubri has found themself relying on dominate more than they would like. Walking amongst the Malks isn’t doing wonders for their own mental health, either.
2. An ex-con (you choose the severity of the crime) who was turned into a Salubri after getting out of jail in the hopes that their new “condition” might lead them down a more virtuous path. Naturally, they aren’t happy about this in the least.
3. A Salubri who uses the fact that their vitae is delicious to bait other vampires into becoming lunch for their coterie/themself/anyone willing to pay them enough. It’s highly dangerous and they’ve nearly met the final death multiple times, but the rush of the hunted becoming the hunter is incredibly addictive. Bonus points if they wear roller skates and their nickname is Meal on Wheels.
4. A Salubri hematologist who has dedicated their unlife towards figuring out what in the fresh hell makes Salubri blood so tasty to other vamps, and a potential way to reverse the effect.
5. A thinblood who committed diablery hoping to become an accepted member of vampire society. They succeeded in becoming a full-blooded vamp, only to learn a little too late that they ate a Salubri and now belong to a hunted group. Many regrets are had.
I hope you enjoy these! Per usual, feel free to use and share these concepts, and to message me about you OCs or just to chat! 🦇
